His tests are like what he covers in class. His projects are very time consuming. He's a fiar grader.
good teacher, have a big group project worth most of your grade so if you like group projects and a fun lecture, take his class.

Great explanations!
great lectures, fun guy. keeps the class interested. Hope I can take him again!
good lectures, actually stayed awake in this class
EXPLAINS MATERIAL IN AN ORGANIZED AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER. EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I FEEL HIS TESTS ARE A BIT TRICKY AT TIMES, BUT THEY ARE VERY FAIR. GREAT GUY. I WOULD DEFINETLY TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Easy to understand. Kind of anal, but that isn't such a bad thing. I would definetly take him again.
Considering that this is a required class for most, I would reccomend that you take it with Professor Rubin. It is a fairly easy class, and you receive points for just being in class. However, Rubin at times can be an ass and he is kind of a nerdy guy!
professional and anal about his job. he can be very unclear at times because he is so picky. the tests are pretty much everything on the notes even though he says they cover the learning objectives on the syllabus. They don't!!
he is really anal about his job, but other from that he is a good proffesor.
If you are serious about being a manager, this is a good class to take. Much of the material is pertinent to being successful in today's business world. Tests are fair if you study the material...professor is enthiastic and clearly knows his stuff.
Dr. Rubin was the most enthusiastic and informative professor that I have had at DePaul and it was a pleasure to learn in his classroom.
Bob Rubin is a terrific professor with a superb attitude about teaching. I wish all DePaul professors were as enthusiastic as he is. Thanks for a great quarter!
I developed A.D.D in this class. His classes are based on powerpoint which he reads off of,if you want to be bored out of your mind and not challenged mentally than this is the class for you. Tests are based on notes/lectures so be prepared to attend reg
Enthusiastic professor who cares about what he is teaching and whether the students are learning. Rubin is organized and fair.
Great guy. Really nice and approachable. Cares about students learning, and throws no curves on his tests. There are some papers to do, but he balances it out with decent tests. Take good notes, and you'll be okay. He makes the subject pretty intersting.
class is really interesting. only one paper, 2 tests (not hard if you've gone to class & took notes), and a group project. get a good group! great teacher! i would definitely take another class with him. easy to talk to and always willing to help. explains things very clearly. take him if you can!
The professor made the lectures very interesting. He involved all the students in class. He's extremely helpful as well and encourages everyone to contact him with any project or exam questions. In addition, you truly learn from this class.
He is a great prof!!! The lectures are interesting, but a study guide would help. And some of us do think hes hot!
sounds like he is reading to you. BORRRRING class! Fair guy though.
Great Teacher. He really helps out the students. He does not try to trick you, everything is straight forward. I really reccomend him as a teacher.
He is a good teacher. Always willing to help students. Classes are a bit boring thugh..but overall, easy class. Just keep up with the work (which is not too much) and u will be fine. I recommand him.
I have never had a better teacher at DePaul. He cares so much about his students and knows a lot about the subject. Treats you like an adult, does not re-teach the material if you miss class. I wish DePaul paid teachers more to attract better teachers like Rubin, it seems no teachers care about teaching or their students at this school.
Uptight and conservative - u can find worse and better professors!!!!
Professor Rubin was the best professor I have taken thus far. His teaching methods are very fair and beneficial. He truly wants his students to succeed, and does his best to make that happen.
HE is quite intellectual. I got a little lower grade then i expected on the midterm. Notes are on blackboard, but must be filled in during class. he has a good sense of humor. Midterms are not too difficult. Multiple choise along with short essay.
Rubin's the reason why I'm a student at DePaul.
A very good class posts partial notes on blackboard and you fill in the blanks in class. Midterm and final were pretty easy but you got to know the material well. Grades easy, but doesn't let you out early in a night class. Only negative is that his personality can be somewhat annoying.
Rubin was a very good teacher. He was clear and fair. I really enjoyed this class, it was fun and fast even for a night class!
It was an interesting class. He is really an excellent professor! I would take him again any time. Sometimes the class is boring, but if you pay attention you will get a lot out of it. Definitely an interesting subject overall.
Great prof and by far the hottest one at DePaul. If he weren't married, I could find a way to keep him busy!
Really good prof - only negatives would be that his tests are deceptively tricky (compared to his demeanor). He is not going to admit he makes grading mistakes but grades regular assignments easier to make up for grading irregularities. Overall good to take.
Excellent prof. Knows what he's talking about, realizes that evening class students also have jobs & personal lives and makes homework & study time appropriate. Doesn't try to trick you on tests, but you do have to study. Makes lectures interesting by using a variety of teaching methods. Best prof. I've had so far.
Nice guy, classes are fun. He covers a lot of material in short time, very organized. He's knowledgeable and wants his students to understand and apply the new concepts. Very fair grader, tests are easy only if you study. He's willing to answer your questions and promotes class participation
seems to care
Rubin was a nice guy and he made class fun. His tests are much harder than you would think. Due to the lack of textbook its impossible to pass his tests without coming to class.
Bob is extremely enthusiastic and knowledge about management. I had low hopes in a core entry level class and was blown away by the wealth of learning that took place in a short time. He is the best professor I've had in my DePaul MBA program and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Grading was fair and transparent - you had to work to get an A.
He is a good professor - Uses a variety of teaching methods that keeps the class active and going (especially with dry subjects) - Vedio clips, discussions, quizzes etc apart from the lecture. He is diligent when it comes to sharing information on the school's blackboard site.
I went so excited into his class but he is not what he seems like or what these people are saying about him. He requires allot from you. Not to mention how anal he is about grading policies and attendance. Be aware of what you are getting yourself into. My work is done here the rest is your decision. Don’t say I didn’t warn you……
He is funny and makes class interesting.
He is great at keeping you interested in the class and is an expert in this field. Uses a variety of teaching methods and keeps assignments reasonable and applicable. Understands that grad students have a life outside of the classroom. If you travel a lot take someone else. No textbook, so you have to be in class.
Very cool guy. Loves his job and it shows. Great communication with students. Keeps interest during lecture.
Prof. Rubin makes class enjoyable and although there is a lot of work to do (IDP, readings, case, etc..) if you keep up it is not bad. His exams questions can be tricky at times but if you learn the notes he provides you should do well.
He is absolutely the best teacher! He is amazing and I wish he taught more grauduate-level courses! He breaks up your grade so its not just a midterm and final. He breaks uip his lecture to allow for some discussion and partner work. He is extremely passionate about this subject. Take him and you will agree he is the BEST professor at DePaul!
Take Dr. Rubin's class! Best, most helpful Prof I've had.

"Bob" Rubin is an outstanding professor. He was referred to me by another DePaul student, and I wanted to return the favor to others. He keeps class very interesting, and mixes up the use of class time (group projects, interactive discussion, movie clips, lecture, etc.). At no time are you bored in this class, and because of the effort he gives,
While he has a very well prepared course, and he incorporates his I/O psychology knowledge(i.e. provides outline notes)I found him extremely dry when approached. Not sure if he was an introvert as a child or a nerdy in school, but there is a level on unease and unconfort when I asked him for help, opinion or direction. Nonetheless he is good.
Well organized class and he really kept information on a need to know basis. All reading and project class time was useful and helpful for immediate application in the real world. Grading was very fair and class discussions were engaging when people chose to participate-which was sadly not consistant but I don't blame Rubin for that.
Rubin is a great professor. The assessment which is required felt like a waste of time in the beginning but did assess me in a true light. In the end - this will help my career.
Very helpful and energetic in class. Teaches interesting concepts that can be applied throughout other courses.
great teacher. really knows his stuff. definetly will teach you everthing you need to know about becoming a good manager. you will be suprised about all the myths that we care as people and as managers. if your a bussiness major its requered class and he is the teach you will want. test are a little hard and book was useless. never used it.
Prof. Rubin is the best professor I've had at DePaul. The time flies by while he is lecturing. He presents meaningful information in a way that is interesting and entertaining. He is very organized. Homework load is light compared to many other courses. You will need to study to ace the tests. I look forward to taking another course from him.
Professor Rubin was one of the most helpful and intelligent Management professors at DePaul. Teaches Grad students too! TAKE HIM if you actually want to learn something. Keeps lectures fun but still really informative.
Excellent professor, he actually made strategic HR a fun class. Time flies and you'll find yourself laughing quite a bit as well. Very good class discussions and the material was easy to learn.
Professor Rubin is a great teacher. The class structure is pretty laidback. There are a 2 cases, 3 activities, and the midterm and final are online. There is one 6 page paper but you can pair up with another person. Overall I like the class but it was more the way he taught it than anything.
Great Professor. Very helpful. He understands the material and is able to convey it in such a way that it makes sense. Class is very structured, so you know exactly where you stand at all times. Highly recommended.
excellent professor, very interesting and helpful class!
Dr. Rubin is an excellent teacher who asks for student feedback. Instead of a text, he provides notes with recent studies on organizational behavior. The IDP assessment and plan was a useful career development exercise. The online exam was an adjustment initially, however, if you memorized the concepts it was easier.
Great lecturer! Prof. Rubin uses his sense of humor to enliven the class and make the time go by quickly. Method of providing mostly completed notes permits focus on lecture topics while requiring you to pay attention. The textbook is painfully dry. Online tests are easy if you study for them. Knowledge obtained is useful. Highly recommended!
Very good professor. You better be in class, you will have some "fill in" the lectures to do. Midterm and final are online. 2 cases and 3 activities. EBM paper takes some time to be completed. Very interesting and entertaining classes. Concepts applicable to the real world out there. Overall highly recommended.
The last rater was accurate. Bob, and his partner in crime, Dierdorff, tell it like it is. They also tell you what they expect from you. I would take one of these two. If they taught other classes, I would enroll in those, too. Good class, even for those not interested in HR.
Fun class, lots of participation. Test are online and open note. No textbook required.
class was terrific, very enjoyable, he gets the studens engaged and mixes a perfect amount of lecture with video and class discussion materials. GREAT for getting back into the "student mode" if your heading back to get an MBA
Excellent prof! One of the best profs I have had in my entire college career! Makes the subject very interesting and fun. I highly recommend his class!
Dr. Rubin is a great professor. You assume the material will be common sense, but you end up learning a great deal of invaluable information about behaviors in the workplace. I always looked forward to this class and the assignments are fair and useful. If you give it a solid effort and contribute during discussions, you will do well.
Professor Rubin is engaging and presents the material in a real business context with a great sense of humor. It is easy to learn and the class definitely doesn't drag on due to his ability to mix in multimedia and group sessions during class.
Great professor. Important to attend every class and do the homework. Tests are not that hard, just need to review and stay on top of the work load. I would take him again in a heart beat.
Very easy course if you attend class. Professor provides great insight in the subject. Highly recommend. Also, I didn't buy the book and you will probably won't need it either.
Great professor. It is really worth your time and tuition. Smart methof of teaching and tests. But, do all he asks you to do thoroughly and do not make mistakes. I'd like to take this course again.
Great Professor! Does a great job of keeping the class engaged. You can tell he really cares about his students and is passionate about teaching. Exams are online and fairly easy.
An easy class where you actually learn something? Can it be? Yes. Dr. Rubin is a very engaging lecturer. The material is great and probably a little different (Better) than similar sections of 500. For example: the management evaluation center he uses is a much better value than the other sections. Take this section just for that.
Extremely professional yet enjoyable and effective teaching style. Highly interactive classes. Hands-down the best teacher (best teaching method) of all my classes @ DePaul.
Great class, phenomenal professor. I'd happily take any other class he offered if it were relevant to my concentration.
Professor Rubin is one of the best professors at DePaul. His lectures are clear and the class is interactive. Exams are fair and easy if you study a bit and pay attention in class. Everything done for this class was relevant and done in support to the concepts taught. Definitely recommend him if you want to learn.
Great professor! I still use notes from his class for my job. He's very helpful and explains content extremely well. I would highly recommend taking Rubin for 500.
TAKE HIS CLASS. Great teacher for OB. He lines out exactly what you need to know and ties every article or outside of class activity into his lectures. The only negative is that he does his tests online, but they are open book open note, so not a deal breaker.
Great professor! I have taken him for MGT 500 and 523 and enjoyed both classes. Lectures are interesting and engaging so the time goes by quickly. Tests are open notes and online which is great. Challengeing courses, but fair and direct. You will learn useful information.
Fantastic Teacher. Everyday I see more and more value in this class and what he taught.
Great Professor. Highly recommended!
Great teacher. You should have the book but you can share one with someone else to save money. You mainly need it for taking exams. I took this class over December intersession: I did not buy the book, tests were online (3). Pretty simple class. Take good notes and you'll be fine.
Took him for intersession and it was 2 weeks m-th 1-5. He broke up the class with activities, the tests were online, the notes were extremely helpful. Class was exciting and definitely stimulated learning. Attendance not mandatory but lab points and power-points not online so gotta get from a friend if you miss
Greatest teacher at DePaul! I took his class during intersession, we had 3 mini online exams, 2 case studies & 5 in-class activities. The book is not mandatory but it will help for the exam but 80% of the exam is from the notes. His lectures are interesting and he is a really funny, down to earth guy. Very approachable. Take his class!!
Take Dr. Rubin's class! You will not regret it! In such a short period of time he taught us so many things. His lectures are very interesting, never boring. He is the author of the textbook and it is awesome! If English is not your first language, I wouldn't recommend taking this course over the December Intersession (ton of material to process).
Dr. Rubin is the best professor I've ever had the pleasure of learning from. His organization and class management are incredible, content is built from and for the business world, and class discussions are fun and thought-provoking. Class is challenging, fair, and thoroughly enjoyable. Take any class you can with Dr. Rubin- you won't regret it.
Interesting and pretty easy class.
This was my first class in the MBA program and remains the class that I measure all others against. Simply excellent. Great professor -- and there's no book.
GREAT CLASS! AWESOME TEACHER! Only thing I would ever disagree with him on is that his take home quizzes are easier than in class quizzes. The classes quiz grade was high because most people would take the at home quiz in a group. I did not, I had a VERY VERY VERY hard time doing the quizzes because they are 40 mins long and you are open book.
Awesome class! Professor Rubin is very clear about his expectations for the course, exams and papers. Not a lot of reading and lot of general class discussions.
Rubin is the best professor I had at DePaul. His high energy and passion for teaching makes the class stimulating and fun.
Quality professor. Demonstrates lots of passion for his subject. Clear explanations with examples. Take his classes. Don't buy the book.
The Professor is very clear on his expectations and is very well organized. He integrates lectures with videos, in class labs and case studies which makes the course interesting and fun.
Rubin's enthusiasm and passion for what he's teaching were loud and clear, but the course was a lot of work. Don't take it if you don't have a decent amount of time to commit outside of class. Partnering with a non-profit was by no means an easy, do-it-in-a-couple-weeks task. Thankfully, his online midterm and final weren't bad at all.
This teacher is amazing! I'm in his intercession class right now and he is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had at DePaul. Also, he's great to look at.
I'm in this class right now as an intersession course. Very interesting class and engaging professor. Makes lectures fun and relatable to real life situations even outside of the business world. Looks for participation and text is needed. Great teacher, would definitely recommend and take another one of his classes.
Prof. Rubin is one of the best teachers I've ever had! I thought is class would be really boring from the title (which is unreadable), but he delivers relevant and helpful information in an engaging and memorable way. Definitely take his class, if you can--totally worth it!!!
Great class
Currently taking the 9-5 winter intercession class with him - at first I was dreading the fact that it was 8 hours long, but he makes the class so interesting/relevant to real life situations that it goes by so so quickly. It is participation heavy, but trust me when I say he makes it really easy/fun to participate.
He's a really awesome teacher! Def take him if you get the chance. I was in the intersession class and he really wants you to succeed. Really nice dude and teaches in a way you don't realize you're learning. Made the intersession class go by so fast. Would take again!
love Dr. Rubin BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!! HES SO NICE WERE FRIENDS NOW
Best. Professor. Ever! I constantly use lessons Dr. Rubin taught me in his MGMT 301 class over 6 years ago! He really understands how to articulate concepts and ideas in the most empowering why but in a challenging ways! I literally just had a thought about his class and was compelled to leave this review. It won't be the last!
Dr. Rubin is a great instructor. Really wants you to understand and grasp the knowledge. He uses a ton of real-world experiences to relate his material to so it's a bit easier to grasp. All the material is important (readings, lecture videos, and studies he's mentioned). The class is built for you to succeed.
