EASY! He is a nice person too. The only thing is that he seems to say "Does everyone get that?" all the time and it can get quite annoying. Also, if you are having trouble, he makes optional review sessions before the exams.
Never went over homework which is not good for those who want to learn but over all he was a great teacher.
What a great professor! I loved this dude, he was young, enthusiastic and had a willingness to help unrivaled by most professors. Being younger, I feel as though he could relate more to our needs, and his teaching method was great. Another positive thing that he did was give partial credut. Overall, AWESOME dude!
Very nice guy, and very laid back. He's extremely understanding regarding absences, etc. Doesn't go over the homework, which might be more helpful. Overall, he's a great professor.
Great professor he needs to teach more math classes!
Very nice person. The only neg. is he doesn't keep control of the class, too much talking, people walking in/out of class, etc. The book is horrible, I only used the CD that came with the book. I never did homework, just take class notes and work the samples on the CD & you'll do great! Mr. Sandbach is a very likeable person.
Very willing to break it down to the ridiculous. Note taking is simplified with his careful explanations. Good instructor for all but especially older adults.
A very through on new material and actually showed an interests in the success of his students and if the majority of the class does badly on a test he will give an extra test worth 20 points! The only teacher that was able to tell me my grade in the class every time I asked. His tests are only cover what was on the home work problems and quizzes.
Great professor. He's a little goofy at first, but you realize quick he's super understanding. Breaks the teaching down sooo easy. I'm making sure to take him for all my math!
Best Teacher! He was very patient and didn't make me feel stupid for not understanding yet. He was always so thorough and clear that he made it make sense to me when no one before had. He also seemed to pay a lot of attention to how every one of his students was doing in class and told us exactly what we needed more work on and by when to do well.

I can not stress how much this teacher understands Statistics and knows how to teach it in the easiest and most understandable way possible. I have taken Stat before and all they do is throw equations at you and make you memorize them and a bunch of other stupid crap that no one cares about. Not this guy. Tests are so easy and reflect the quizes.
He is a nice guy. He talks too much sometimes, and you can fall asleep. DON'T FALL ASLEEP! Everything he does in class, somehow end up on tests. You have to go to class because he has these things called "starters", he gives the answers before taking them back. It's basically extra credit. He's helpful and knows his stuff!
Super nice guy. It's a boring class, but he knows his stuff!
great professor really helpful..and he makes sure u understand whats going on...and breaks everything down to a tee...easy class if u attend everyday!h e is just wonder ful
This class is not a cupcake class at all. One must work/ study to get a good grade. Professor Sandbach does a good job of teaching stats because you wont learn it from reading the book.
He is such a great guy and a student's dream of a teacher. He really knows how to teachs Stats. I am not good at math and I made a B in the 6 week summer class. Awesome! Take this teacher he is so great and he is funny too. He makes class easy and fun.
MR. SANDBACH, IS A GREAT TEACHER. HE SPEAKS CLEARLY AND IS ALWAYS PAUSING TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERONE UNDERSTANDS WHAT IS GOING ON. HE GIVES DETAILED NOTES IN CLASS THAT "WILL" HELP ON YOUR TESTS.
Easy A. Great teacher. I would definately recommend him.
Great teacher, very willing to take the time to help you understand the material. Most test questions come from the homework and starter questions, he just changes the numbers.
Well, the book is a piece of junk… doesnt tell you what to do just gives suggestions. Sandbach offers a very fair grading scale. I recommend taking him especially if you plan to take future stats courses
I asked for an "I" and he asked me to meet with him only to tell me no. Hours of conversation only for him to report me to student affairs for violating code of conduct? For what freedom of speech. Becareful with this guy helpful is not in his nature.
Great teacher, will go out of his way to help you, but you must do the work and show up to class. Easy A, don't know why so many people got C's and D's. They didn't care.
Must attend to get the notes and do starter questions. He really breaks everything down so everybody understands everything. Almost TOO easy... nice guy and easy A
I dont know how "easy" this class was, and I'm an A/B student. I took it in the summer. Just do your hw. Keep up with the quizzes and that clear up any nebulous you may have. Sandbach is a good prof, gives lots of examples with your questions.
Can't believe that anyone would write a negative comment! If someone got an "I" in this class it's their own fault. This prof is wonderful! He teaches in a straightforward manner, doesn't talk "in circles" like other math teachers do and makes his lectures so complete that you don't need the book. You do have to study though. This isn't high school.
I thought he was very difficult to follow and told us stuff that was not important to the class. I missed 2 days for emergencies and was completly lost. He doesn't make you do homework but I highly recommend it.
Ok he is not easy but he is very clear and wants you to learn and will help in every way, you must show up for class or you will be lost, first half is a breeze second gets hard dont miss second half. He is easy to understand and he gives 3 chances on quizzes and you can work together. your grade comes from attendance and quizzes. Easy A if show up
he is very nice, a little to nice. sometimes get ran over by students. He is very helpful. I Would take another math class of his
very good professor. would retake him for any other math teacher. knows his stuff and is VERY VERY helpful! not a fan of math but i highly enjoyed his class!! no negative things to say about this man.
Easy if you show up and pay attention. Lectures so well, you dont need the book. It is very hard to get lost in his class, he rights down most of what he actuallly says on the board, which can annoying, but great to keep you form getting lost. Really cares if you understand and do well. Very understanding of emergencies and wants to help you. Ve
This guy was a very poor teacher, he has a really good understanding of the material that he was covering and held class as if you did too! This guy never took the time to teach in class, if you didnt understand something you had to hang around for office hours if you needed help. This was literally my first college math class i havent aced!
I had Professor Sandbach for stats last year, talks a lot, but tries to limit the confusion. As a statistician, he knows what he's talking about statically...Go to his office hours for help. I had trouble with probabilities, remember the formulas, and you should do well.
Robert is great teacher. I hate math and stats especially, but I took his class over the summer and I learned so much. He was extremly helpful and his lessons in class were so informative I never had to spend time outside of class studying.
Great Teacher, a very sweet guy who loves math and is willing to help his students by any means.....TAKE HIM
Statistics is not an easy subject, but Mr. Sandbach does a pretty good job in teaching it.He offers extra credit @ the beginning of the class,& you get 3 attempts at all the quizzes. He drops your lowest grade on quizzes & labs,so you have a very good chance of getting a decent grade.I highly recommend Mr.Sandbach.He also gives partial credit. :)
A very sweet and caring teacher. I didn't care for his teaching style, I would have been in trouble if I didn't already know the material. All homework and quizzes are done on MyMath Lab. Unlimited attempts and lowest 4 scores are dropped. Attendance counts as a grade, as well as Math Lab hours which is a negative if you prefer to do work at home.
Hes a great teacher, works with you. I would take another class with him if available. Attendance counts toward your grade, and is taken by your starter question in the morning.
MR.SANDBACH IS A NICE TEACHER HE TEACHING STYLE IS NOT THE BEST IF YOU DONT ALLREADY HAVE AN IDEA OF WHAT YOU DOING. HE'S TEACHING IS NOT THE BEST BUT AS A TEACHER HE LAID BACK OF GUY. BUT IF YOU KNOW AND LEARN OON YOUR OWN I RECOMMED HIM IF YOU BAD AT MATH FIND ANOTHER TEACHER.
Nice, but not very good at teaching. He doesn't really understand how to explain what he is doing very well. It's as if he is teaching to people who already have some kind of understanding. He doesn't keep up with the online work either( always puts quizzes up late or not at all). Has yet to email me back this semester 0/3. Not good overall.
Nice person, does care, but can be very confusing. Spends a great deal of time writting definitions(stands if front of them so can't read) very little time on the actual mechanics / examples. Insert of his own questions, by doing so it deletes access the Help Solve & Example Tools.
His class is hard but he is willing to help you any way he can.he doesnt manages his time well enough for the class. I had to get extra help at the math lab and in office hours. He really does care about his students and gives extra credit drops lowest test grade and lowest quiz so if you work hard you will pass.I made a B in both Algebra and Stats
I had Sandbach last semester and purposefully took him again. He does a great job of explaining to his students how math is used in real life. He makes it interesting and keeps it light-hearted. He goes above and beyond to help his students and answers questions/gives grade feedback whenever you ask. GREAT PROFESSOR! Will take him again for stats.
I learned a great deal fro Mr. Sandbach. I have taken him for MAT1033 and MAC1105. I am looking forward on learning even more from him in his STA2023 course. He will make sure you understands the material and never be affraid to ask questions it shows you are invovled.
I took Sandbach for MAC1033. He explained everything the complicated way or the way that requires more work. A lot of people dropped his class my semester or transferred to another teacher. He is nice and wants the best for his students though.
he is a good teacher. easy A if you do the work and go to 50% of the classes.
I thought this class was really easy. Tests are kinda challenging....but there are so many other grades that tests wont make or break you. Love the way he teaches. He is straight forward and explains things very clearly. Really wants his students to understand the material. I'd take him again.
He is very nice, understanding and wants the best for his students. The class is hard and you have to stay on top of the work or you will quickly fall behind but he is very helpful. I would highly recommend him!
He is a great person all out doors . he will do anything to help his students and he love to teach but his teaching doesn't match up with mymathlab to me he should teach from the book and from mymathlab cause he teaches what he want you to know all his classes are difficult dont waste ur money or time unless you know how to teach yourself really!!
Wow. I can't believe he has any bad reviews. Literally the best professor ever and I hate math. Doesn't use my mathlab or have mandatory homework which is really great (because mymathlab is an excuse for teachers not to teach!) Really wants all of his students to pass. take him!!!
Robert is a really nice guy but he is SO socially awkward. Gives points for showing up to class which is great, and he does know his Stats. He gives you many ways to get points so in the end your test counts very little, and he drops a test. It all depends on your learning style. I felt that he was most helpful during his review for the final.
The best teacher in the world! Mr. Sandbach cares so much about his students' success.
I honestly have no idea how this guy has negative reviews! He SO enjoys what he is teaching and he truly cares about how well we understand the material. He won't move on until every single person understands. His tests are pretty challenging, but if you understand what we learn in class, you'll do excellent.
I thought the class would be fairly easy however, I missed one class in the second week and it threw my off for almost two weeks. Missing class is really not a good idea.
Sandbach is such a sweet teacher, but he was a confusing teacher. He gave definitions of what he was teaching in his lectures but would never give examples to them! Statistics was a difficult course, and you definitely have to work hard to get your grade. IF you really want a good grade in stats, take a real good teacher or teach yourself.
Prof. Sandbach is a very good guy I enjoyed the days he was teaching. Most of his lessons were easy to understand and he was always there to help. Unfortunately, there were some health concerns and he missed a lot of important class time with us. His grading system--while extremely fair--Is somewhat confusing and it's hard to hunt down your grade.
Sandbach is a nice guy, and good at teaching, but he was out of the classroom a lot. Maybe not his fault, but it made things hard towards the end. TONS of assignments due when I would've rather been studying for the final. Didn't cover everything the course required because he was gone. Also you can't see your grade unless you ask him after class.
He is a great professor and very helpful. I would recommend yoiu take his class. He is very clear during lecture and gives you good examples and notes. The book is not required but can be helpful. Study guide is provided for every exam including the departmental final and are very helpful.
This guy was great. Really helped you understand what it was he was saying. He was a fair grader and gave you many opportunities for extra credit. My only recommendation is that you don't miss class, and my only grievance from taking this class was that we had to use Canvas, euughh...
I had a horrible experience with him. He left class almost mid way probably sooner through the course with no explanation. The department granted everyone in the class a B in the class because of this. He might be a good professor but he wasn't there long enough for me to have known.
Took this accelerated over the summer and he made it a lot easier because of the way he teaches! He is very clear and does not teach you anything you do not need to know. He gives sample problems before every test that really help you do well on the exams. He is super helpful if you are confused on anything & assigns works that prepares you.
hes super caring and patient making sure that everyone is up to speed. super hilarious but not probably on purpose. haha. Really great teacher
Not clear. Talks and writes notes on the board the whole class. Nice guy and knows his stuff but not a great teacher.
Not going to lie, Professor Sandbach knows his statistics, but he teaches as if you already know the material. Be ready to do labs and there is a 2 part project for the class. DO NOT MISS CLASS, because you will be lost, and he counts attendance!! He's a nice guy, but I wouldn't recommend him if you don't already know stats.
The class is half online, half in the math studio. Beneficial, if you can get all your homework and quizzes done in the studio, you will have no homework for the week. But, this doesn't help you with retaining information in the long run- for you get the lesson and then do all your work in the studio for attendance points.
Really kind person. He gives decent lectures and tries to help students as much as possible. He is very on top of grading and emailing back.
He's a nice and caring guy. He loves answering questions in and out of the math studio and has clear lectures. His office hours helped me when I was confused with the math lab lessons. There are four assignments to do every week: two homework assignments and two short quizzes. They are quite time consuming, but you can get a lot done in the studio.
Sandbach knows his stuff, but he's not great at teaching it. He teaches like we're suppose to already know it. He's a very tough grader, one little mistake, and you lose a lot of points. Nice guy, but not a good professor. If you chose to take him make sure you NEVER miss class, you will miss a lot!!
Writes notes the entire class with no examples to attach the material to. If you want to do well in this class you will need to teach yourself majority of the information.
Sandbach gives multiple choice exams! The first like 8 questions are all multiple choice! There are only like 3 free response questions on each exam! All the test question literally come STRAIGHT from your quizzes & HW! HW is not mandatory. You get 4 tries on the ONLINE quizzes. Need I say more? Btw I SUCK AT MATH! Take him if you want to pass.
There's never a day when he's not writing on the chalk board explaining how to do math. Being a couple minutes late is okay, but if you're not there for the "starter" you will be counted as absent whether you're actually there or not. The tests are kind of hard but there's always a make up test. He also goes back and gives half credit.
Best introduction to Statistics I could have asked for! Was hesitant about Statistics before this class. I simply did ALL of the homework, then all 4 attempts on quizzes and by the time i took the exam, I had seen the questions 2 or 3 times. Put 3-4 hours into hw a week, and you will probably get an A. He drops your lowest exam grade. Great class!
This professor managed to create a myriad of complexities beyond my belief. He has many little assignments that cover minute details of each chapter, when in reality I expected an INTRO to Statistics to be a bit more simple and general as the title of the course says "INTRO". He is very test heavy and they're very difficult.
Best math professor. He is very easy going and caring. He is also accessible outside of class and will update you on his office hours if they change. Not a hard grader.
Sandbach was very thorough. He always makes sure you understand each thing he teaches. He goes step by step with math problems, and writes out the explanations of the board in case you understand better with words, than with numbers. Be there on time. If you miss the starter questions at the beginning of class, you will be counted absent.
Great Prof. When it comes to math I believe you shouldn't skip class at all. You have to make the effort if you want the grade so don't skip. He always asks if anyone needs help, he is accessible outside of class and even has office hours. You will do well if you pay attention and keep practicing, and do the assignments that are given.
Sandbach is very clear and thorough with his teaching and really breaks things down so that everyone understands the material. Attendance is a huge factor in your grade so definitely don't skip class. If there's something you don't understand he will go out of his way to help you in studio to make sure you get it.2 HW assignments and quizzes weekly
This class starts out pretty doable. Do the homework he gives. If you don't you will not pass the tests. He gives study guides for the test with practice problems. He makes himself available in his office to help. Don't procrastinate. Use the math lab. Super nice
Sandbach is a great teacher to have and does his best to make sure you get the best grade possible. With this being said, studying is still highly advised.
Professor Sandbach definitely knows his stuff. I recommend this class for statistics majors. He is very helpful answering questions, but tests are very deep in statistical theory.
One of the best professors I've had at Santa Fe. He gives really good feed back and does care about everyone's successes in the class. He's always in his correct office hours unless he post otherwise. One of the few times I took a class and be able to recall almost all of the information we learned.
Great professor. Takes his time to make sure you understand every topic during his lectures. He also makes sure he goes back and gives half credit for any incorrect answers on the test. He is always there to help and truly cares about his student's success in the class.
Awesome teacher. Math has never been my strong area so I had to do all the practice problems, all the homework, and assigned readings. His tests are based on what is taught in class and in the reading assignments. Definitely a lot of work if you're not a strong math person, but he is good, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
Haven't looked at math in 20 years, and I was terrified. Sandbach is an EXEMPLARY professor. He wants you to succeed. Being forced to attend math lab is pointless, but other than that, this class was great. Clear and concise lectures and he is very communicative outside of scheduled class time.
Not sure how his rating is not a 5, I had a truly terrible professor last semester and she has managed a 3.7(she's probably leaving fake reviews) Sandbach is one of those rare teachers that wants you to do well. Literally nothing would make him happier than everyone in his class earning an A+. Smart, fair, with a solid teaching style.
Literally just registered for the class that was open and thank goodness, I got him. (I wasnt so lucky in my other clas hehe) Robert is a great teacher who makes himself available whenever you need him. I hate math and he actually made me like math because for the first time in my life, someone helped me be good at it :)
Hes very nice and his lectures are very analytical. Stats is a hard class but if you do bare minimum you will pass with a C. He drops lowest exam grade and his exams mirror homework problems in the book. Final is exact same as other exams so study those exams!!! textbook was only used if you do homework, its not graded but will help you pass exams!
he really helps you through the class and is very clear about each topic being talked about. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before continuing to the next topic. Very good teacher and would recommend taking his class!
Professor Sandbach is a GREAT professor. Made the class seem so easy and is very quick to respond if you need help on something. He will definitely prepare you for college algebra and stats. Would highly recommend
He was extremely helpful during office hours and will go over any problems with you. He gives problems from the book that don't count for points but I found that doing those helped me because the exact questions showed up on tests!
Good math professor, I wish he would explain things a little more in depth, but all math was online and is willing to help if you ask him.
He is a good teacher, but I wish he did more practice in class. Labs can be challenging. He does care a lot about his students and is really good about helping them individually. Practice tests seem to be not as clear as it should be for the test. I think he should grade homework.
Professor Sandbach is nice guy. Does a nice job lecturing and is always willing to help out. The math department at Santa Fe is a mess and needs work but Sandbach is a solid professor. I would definitely take him again.
He is very good at explaining things. Statistics is not easy but he is willing to help always and wants you to succeed. His way of lecturing makes things look easy and he offers help all the time. You will pass as long as you use all the resources he gives for help.
It was the week of finals and grades from September were still missing. He was not very good at answering emails. Faculty had to approach him due to the complaints. He missed 2 classes and sent a terrible substitute who ranted about AI. The exam guides were often incorrectly labeled and had the wrong chapter number on them. Worst experience at SF!
It was close to the end of the semester, and a lot of the assignments that we had done were still not graded, thus, making it very tough to determine our grades. Some of his labs did not cover what we went over in class, which made them very confusing. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone who struggles in math.
I've always struggled with math but Professor Sandbach is really good at going over problems step by step and making sure everyone understands before moving on. I genuinely get the impression that he wants you to pass. Just like every math class there's a lot of homework, but it's definitely manageable, solid choice if you have a hard time usually.
Such a caring teacher. Im not good at math at all, and passed this class. He was willing to help me at any moment. Very caring & loves his job. It is a difficult class, but doable.
This professor has a great way of explaining the material for students but there are aspects to this class that get in the way of learning. He missed about 5 to 6 classes in which 3 we were given a horrible sub to teach us material. The labs did not make much sense and he doesn't put in grades till the last minute of the semester. There is no HW.
Professor Sandbach was decent. For me, the exams got easier as the class went on. There are four exams (lowest is dropped) and a final based on the 4 exams with exact questions from exams. The online quizzes are easy, the labs are so-so, and the three part project is easy. He wont grade the labs and project until the end. Ended with an 86.
He does a very good job of explaining the material and making sure as many students as possible completely understand the material. You have an hour of class time and about 35 minutes of studio time, which you can't miss or your grade will suffer. You get multiple tries for tests, homework, and quizzes.
When you get the homework some of the questions he never taught, kinda frustrating, but overall not a bad teacher.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN MATHEMATICS! Lazy, always sick, he will miss classes and youll have to pay the consequences. I IGNORED THE BAD REVIEWS BECAUSE HE HAD A GOOD SCORE AND SOME PEOPLE SAID GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM BIGGEST MISTAKE!!!!!! YOU WONT GET GRADES UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF THE SEMESTER AND HE GRADES HEAVY.
Prof. Sandbach has a knack for simplifying math concepts so they're easy to understand. His grading can be picky but he's also fair with giving partial credit. The downside is he's a slow grader but if you go to his office hours he'll grade your assignments for you. He drops your lowest test grade, if you're willing to work you can get an A
The only grades he puts into canvas during the semester are the tests and quizzes While we have lab assignments and the project parts, he did not grade them until the day before the grades were due. Throughout the entire semester I had no idea what my grade actually was in the class. He is the toughest grader I have ever experienced.
I wasn't sure what my grade would be due to his slow grading. To get an A, you have to work for it. But, it's easier if you only want to pass. The difficulty of the exams and labs depended on the unit. However, I have no idea what I got on the Project because of his slow grading. The final is a mix of questions from unit exams. Look at other profs.
He rarely puts in your grades until after the final and the test and exams are really hard and EACH QUESTION is worth 9 points, so if you get a multiple choice question wrong. good luck. He is very nice but i dont recommend this class if you struggle in math!
It was very hard to get a response from him. I had to contact the Math board after him not responding for 4 days. He misses class and doesn't communicate properly to us students. The material was a bit challenging, but if he were more hands on I'd have felt more confident. Nice enough, you really have to ask questions and take notes.
Great teacher and nice person. I took his hybrid class so attendance was mandatory, especially in the math lab. Notes are easy to understand and if you're having difficulty with the lesson he'll help you. Homework, testing, and online classwork is done in the math lab which you can get his help or help from students.
He works at a slow pace and he gives very caring vibes. If you need help he'll definitely be there for you. It's hard to fail the class when there's so many ways to make up test grades but if you go to class, do the homework, and go to the lab. It's an easy A for sure.
Nice professor, lectures are slow but for your benefit to understand. Never responded to my emails, but all the work was easy, able to redo and correct hw and quizzes for a perfect grade. Impossible to fail unless you don't do the assignments and/or redo the hw and quizzes.
Professor Sandbach is kind but his lectures are horrible. He does not go in depth when explaining the material. He does not reply to you when you have questions about your homework or anything. The tests are hard , statistics is not a easy class but he makes it even harder. Despite his high rating. Do not take him for statistics. Trust me.
Professor Sandbach cares a lot about what he does, and he wants his students to understand the material. I am personally bad at math, but this class was easy for me to understand. He is very accessible outside of class for help. Slow grader, so you wont really know your grade unless you speak with him. There are 4 exams, final, project, and labs.
I really enjoyed his class, I took a summer A course. Attendance is taken via "bell ringer" posted before class, and during class. I took notes on my iPad, which I copied from the board. His notes/handwriting is LOVELY and so easy to copy/understand. There is a lot of homework, but its exactly what he teaches. He also does exam retakes as well.
Professor Sandbach was hands down the worst teacher I have ever had. He did not follow the course layout or schedule to any degree. He showed no care or concerns to his students. For example, professor Sandbach would say an exam would be posted on the date 10-27-2020 and due on 10-30-2020, the issue with this was that the exam would not be posted b
This class is super easy as it is, but he really dumbs it down to a way that makes it impossible not to understand. Assignments are always super easy, and hes more than willing to help if you need it. The only thing is make sure you submit everything ON TIME or your grade will drop.
Very very slow grader, never answers to emails, always starts off slow, doesn't really teach the full content. He will teach you one thing and you have to figure out the rest on your own. The tests are SUPER difficult!! Each question is like 9 to 12 points each with only 15 questions so good luck.
Mr. Sandbach is a real caring guy, he cares about his students a lot. You can tell he has a real passion for math and wants his students to have this passion as well. One of the best math teachers I have ever had!
I don't like giving bad ratings, but this is the worst experience I've had with a professor. He seems nice enough, but we ended up finishing less than half of the intended coursework due to his constant cancellations and delays. Statistics is important to my career path, yet I feel that I have very little understanding of it. STAY AWAY for now.
Professor Sandbach was horrible at reading and responding to emails. The entire class was struggling and he didnt answer any emails whatsoever. He spent the entire class time writing down his notes he already had written on a notecard. He would just repeat what he had written over and over. Find another professor for your stats class, hes no good
He is a great guy, unfortunately spent more time teaching the basics then what we needed to learn for homework. I found most times teaching myself. Theres a lot of homework . Crams things last minute for the test. Will not respond to emails or post grades. Often forget to post assignments. Set appointments same as office hours change constantly!
Sandbach never answers emails no matter where you send them from. The entire semester the class was struggling. When it came to exams, none of the practice questions we were given were nothing like any of the exam questions. None of the notes we took ever really explained how to do something for the homework's. Definitely find another professor!
Hands down one of the worst classes ive had to take. Professor Sandbach was impossible to reach outside of class when I was sick this semester. He never responded to a email or canvas message. The grading was incredibly confusing and after sitting down to calculate my grade, I realized 75% of it was left to the last week. Its a miracle I passed.
Prof. Sandbach was a nice guy, just a horrible professor. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact I took MGF1100 for a half semester instead of the full semester. He tried to explain the best he could, but it just didn't take. I would find a different professor.
I thought he explained the material well; if you understand things in class, you will do well on the homework. There are practice questions before each exam. Do those and you will do well on the exam. He also reuses questions from previous exams, even for the final. However, he is extremely hard to reach outside of class.
Ooverall a very nice professor but super flaky he canceled at the last minute for four classes and was sick most of the semester. Very caring and understanding but his test never added up with the homework and he was very hard to reach out of class.
Im sure hes a great guy, but i cant say that i would recommend him as a professor. i understand people have their own lives, but he canceled class quite a number of times and towards the end of the class i was completely lost as was the entire class. he would never respond to emails but luckily he dropped the lowest test score. no extra credit.
Professor Sandbach is so amazing! I was extremely scared to take statistics, but he made it very easy to understand. He was very welcoming and answered any questions I had. He is a little difficult to reach outside of class, but I never had to. He also missed some classes but if you do the work it is easy to stay on track. I loved this class!
He's a likeable guy, but he has wayyy too many health issues and cancels class often because of them. Somehow manages to drink a whole 16 oz bottle of root beer every class but his lectures are pretty nice to understand and leaves a lot of time for questions or different explanations. Expect to teach yourself outside of class.
So, I took him because he had a 4/5 rating, you'd think that was a good teacher that you got. However, I ended up getting the worst teacher I've ever had. He WAS a good professor for about half the semester, but he's extremely inaccessible outside of class unless you go to his office during hours. I do not recommend him, best find someone else.
He is a great guy, but I would not recommend him for a statistics professor. The beginning one the semester was pretty easy to understand, but after that most of the class was lost. He constantly cancels class and we did not get to cover the information for the last test.
Do not take this teacher!! For some odd reason, he grades reviews and its mandatory for your grade. He uses this weird grading system and he uploads grades last minute. So you won't know what your true grade is until the end. He's also gone for most of my semester and dropped a final lecture just before the Final. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
After taking Sandbach this past fall semester, he is a caring and sweet guy. But he struggles conveying the point of his lecture. He talks about a ton of information, but shows no math examples, which leads students to not understand the content. Also, he takes about a month to grade tests and cancelled class 9 times this semester.
i would not recommend professor sandbach at all. your grade is mainly based off of how well you do on all of the exams & the final, that all have concepts he fails to actually teach in class. he cancels lectures very very often & very last minute, & takes forever to grade the tests. on top of all this, he refuses to give ACTUAL help on anything
Overall very nice guy but horrible Professor. He cancels class very often and did not get through all the information for the course he was supposed to. He fails to actually teach what is on exams and does not show many examples. You will not pass if you do not pass all the exams.
Correlates lessons to real life application giving a deeper understanding to the lesson. Most things are written on the board and he is willing to answer questions.
Cares deeply about making sure you understand what he is teaching. If something doesn't make sense he takes the time to explain it in a different way. There are no dumb questions! He doesn't us a textbook. It's my math lab and a paper workbook, I think it was like $12. He is also available in his office most of the time and very helpful.
After taking STA2023 with Robert Sandbach, I can safely say that I would NOT take another class with him. He has canceled six classes throughout the semester and is introducing a new chapter 4 days before our final exam. He takes forever to grade exams and those are the only grades that actually mean anything. All together good guy but a bad prof.
I can't fault the man for it, but he canceled class five times for personal/health reasons. Nice guy, definitely means well and knows the subject matter. But you might end up feeling like you are teaching yourself. I wish him the best, but can't say I enjoyed the class.
He was a nice guy and all, but a horrible professor. he canceled class 6 times morning of. So, you could already be on campus and get an email class was canceled. We weren't able to cover the material as thoroughly as we should've been able to and that's what ultimately brought my grade down. avoid taking him if you don't know much about stats.
Professor Sandbach canceled class six times this semester which is unbelievable, because of all the classes he canceled the exam before the final was hard the average was 42.4 percent and the final exam average was 57.6. If you can please do not take this professor unless you like to teach yourself stats.
He is a very nice guy and only means well. However, he canceled class six times this semester. I understand that these were for personal reasons, but because of the canceled classes, we went through the remaining lessons very quick. I would not recommend taking him, as I had to teach myself every lesson we did.
No bueno please don't take him he was absent for half the classes.
He's a great professor and seems caring too, however he did cancel class 6 times this semester. Whenever he'd be present for class he'd just write definitions on the board and lacked providing lots of examples for solving problems mathematically. He would also cancel office hours lots of times. No extra credit. I had to teach the subject to myself
He canceled class 6 times and then threw in some last minute material the last lecture before the final. Find another professor
Professor Sandbach seems well-intentioned, but frequently canceled class, making it challenging to cover the material. I found Unstuck AI and the free textbook helpful for self-study, but overall the class lacked structure. Proceed with caution if you need a lot of in-person guidance.
Professor Sandbach is a very nice person but not a good professor. The tests are all trick questions and nothing like the homework or what's in our notes.
While he is a nice person, Professor Sandbach has cancelled class about 7 times this semester. We have also taken 2 exams one of those being from the beginning of the semester which have not been graded. The exams also have nothing to do with the practice tests and homework's assigned. Im not one to leave a review. I would not recommend this prof.
A very sweet guy, but a not-so-great prof. I have no clue what my grade will be since there is only 2 quizzes and labs in, and I just received my first test (test 2 & 3 ungraded) back 2 days ago and the final is next week. You must be in class to get notes (decent notes), yet he has cancelled so many times and grading is tough and takes forever.
He taught by writing notes on the whiteboard which we copied, & gave weekly homework assignments in an online textbook. He's pretty quiet, but nice & is available for outside tutoring. He canceled class a few times, which I honestly liked lol. Passionate abt statistics, great to take for an introductory course. Grading was late, but very detailed!
Honestly he is a nice person and has fairly solid lectures, just simply take notes and pay attention in class, but there is an issue. It took him over a month to grade our first exam and we are currently waiting for exam 2 grades, which we took that about 3 weeks ago. He also will sometimes cancel class the morning before so beware of that.
Takes a month (minimum) to grade anything. He never responded to any of my emails. I emailed during the day multiple times and never NEVER received a response to any of them. very quiet. the tests are hard, but the HW is really easy. he doesn't post the notes so if you miss class, you need to ask someone for theirs.
He was an ok professor. I would take him again if need be. Get ready to work, and SHOW UP! He had no problem helping me out after class if I had a problem with a formula. Because of my discalculia, he bent over backwords for me. Not many professors would do that for a student, in my opinion.
I would not recommend him for this class. Yes, he was a nice guy, but he took forever to return grades and papers, canceled classes, never offered anything for extra credit to help improve grades, and never posted notes for classes, so if you missed something, you were out of luck. Tests were very hard to comprehend.
Professor Sandbach is a good and very nice guy, but he isn't a good professor. Takes forever to grade tests, cancels class a lot, and teaches by writing vocabulary on the board. His tests have similar questions to the study guide, but thats only for multiple choice questions, while the written response can be difficult. Overall not that good
He was super nice and caring towards his students! Aside from this, tests took a VERY long time to be graded and he canceled class pretty frequently. If you miss class you have to get the notes from a classmate. if you miss a test though you can make it up during office hours which I found pretty helpful.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! If I could give him 0 stars I would. Has no idea what he is teaching. He did not grade any exam until the day of the final. You will not know your grade until after your exam. He would not excuse my absences due to a medical condition with proof. He does not answer emails and if you speak to him in person, he will lie.
Was really nice, but the only participation we did was a lab the class before the exam. Be ready to take a lot of notes. Notes will help you somewhat pass, but you have to really study and understand all the of subjects.
I would not recommend this professor for this class. Yes, he knew what he was teaching, but he took forever to grade exams so you never really knew what your grades were till the end of the semester. In my case I had to withdraw because I didn't know I was not passing the class till the end of the semester due to his inefficient grading.
He is very kind and accessible outside of class. He misses a lot of class due to health and it can cause pretty extreme compression of material. Its typically a starter question and lecture. No practice in class so you need to use the tutors in the learning commons. He does drop your worst test and double count the best one.
If you're gonna take this professor, be ready to teach yourself. Takes wayy too many sick days off. Rarely gives out extra credit. Every test is by paper, even though there's only 3-4 free write questions it's about 5 parts each and takes very long to grade. AND HE TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE EXAMS!!! I feel like he does ts so you can't drop the class.
Only thing in class you do is take notes he writes on board. He also takes a lot of days off from class and also takes forever to grade. He showed up 30 mins late for our final because he wasn't prepared and hadn't even graded our previous exams so we could use them to study for the final. I do not recommend especially if you need this credit.
