This guy is interesting, has a deep understanding of Sociology to the point of creating his own terms that are extremely helpful on remembering topics.
Great Prof he loves sociology so he makes class very interesting. Good lecturer, goes in depth, better than text. Likes class input and discussion.
Great teacher should publish the umbrella model. Helps out with any problem. Makes soliology interesting. Highly recommend this teacher
AWESOME! great professor, wish he taught more classes.. definitely take him
He's a very enthusiastic teacher but for a intro class it's a lot of work. In addition to tests he makes the class do journal entires (about 13) with the journal entires you need to do a 2 page write up for each one. If you enjoy class discussion then take it if not don't!
Great professor...The essays are long if you wait until the last night to do them. You can tell he loves sociology and clearly explains everything and writes key terms and names on the board. Good luck quitting smoking i know you can do it
He's a good professor but you need to work hard, the journals may seem like a lot of its not hard if you keep up with them, use sociology terms he likes that, pay attention during class discussions and laugh at his jokes he likes that.
He is a good but you need to work very hard. The tests are very hard if you dont take good notes. He always like students to participate and present in front of the whole class which I dont like. overall is BAD
Class is pretty easy, just take good notes and listen in class. Do the journals as you go along because its a lot if you wait until the last minute. I used the textbook only a few times during the semester. This class was interesting and he is a great teacher.
He is really nice. You must take good notes however. His tests are fair. He is very intresesting and easy going. I have him for an 8:00 am class, and he manages to keep my attention. I would take another class with him. However, I hardly use my text book. Don't wait for the night before to do journal entries.
He is very clear and its a very easy class to take notes in. As long as you attend class you will find the tests are very very fair.
i dont know how anyone else did decent in this class. he is an awesome dude, the way he teaches is just not clear. the notes were simple then the tests were insanely difficult! plus his lectures were not organized and he never stayed on task, but he was funny.. at least.
test are easy. you only have four they are straight from the notes in class. If you take good notes in class and study them you should be fine. you have two essays one you present to the class but its really easy then you have to write journals on everyone else's presentations it really isn't that bad he just grades hard on them
His lectures are very interesting and uses humor to help carry it out. By far the funniest professor I've had. However, his tests are difficult and there's very little margin for error. So in order to do well in class, you need to take detailed notes while attending every class.
He's a really great professor; you can tell he enjoys his job. He gives us journal entries and they were a pain but if you do them weekly you should be fine. I didn't and had to pull a serious all nighter. Don't be like me lol, don't do them all the night before.
Overall, he's a very good professor. He knows how to teach, and make his lectures interesting. He relates sociology to real life situations. He also make you do journals every week so that also helps understand the material better. Beware: If you don't do the journals as you go along, you'll have a lot to catch up on. He can get cooky sometimes.
Prof Sardiello was one of the best professors ever. Makes lectures interesting and funny. Material is right from the textbook but he makes it a lot easier to understand. Curves the tests so there's really no way you can fail. He does current event topics and you have to write journals make sure you keep up with them. He's also an easy grader.
This class was very nice but he makes you do journal entry's at the end of the semester that you must hand in for 18% of your grade. I got a 50 for working with someone from the class and using there notes Bc I missed some days yet people who copy and pasted from the Internet got 80s and 90s. Words of advice copy and paste.
Really awesome professor! He only gave 4 tests all semester and they were straight from his lectures. He made sure you knew exactly what to expect on the test. Journals are nothing if you keep on top of them, just use his "sociology" terms.
Great professor, enjoyed his class. Word of advice, do not wait until the last minute to do your journals. I did, and it wasn't a fun night saying up to finish the 10 journal entries that had to be 2 pages each. Do the math.
Amazing professor. One of my favorites. His test are clear and based on the lectures. Make sure to take notes.
Do not take this class for an Easy A. Professor is very knowledgeable and does well at explaining sociology, but this is no gimme class. Not necessarily too much work, but without paying attention, taking very good notes and reading the textbook you will not do well. If you're looking for an intro class for an Easy A elective, this is not the one.
Just make sure to take good notes during lectures and you'll do fine. He is very clear and doesn't make you fall asleep. Tests are some what on the long side, but as long as you came to class and took notes you should be fine.
Really enjoyed his class & he enjoys teaching it. if you take really good notes in lectures you don't need textbook. tests are multiple choice unless you're doing a makeup exam- so make sure you don't miss test days. barely any HW. just a current events journal due at end of semester- Do NOT wait until last minute. Don't. DON'T!!!
He was okay. A little too enthusiastic about the curriculum if you ask me.. had to do 11 two page papers for our "Journal entries" and I figured there's no way he actually reads 22 pages per student, yet I got a C on it.
One of the best professors that I've ever had. Cool guy. Enthusiastic about the course and teaching.
Had worse professors, however you might as well take this class online. Professor goes of topic and expects you to self teach yourself. Refuses to review for class. He will talk all class and write 5 words of notes. what do you expect us to study? Does not post a thing on blackboard! not even syllabus!! Really does not care if u fail
To this day my sociology notebook has 3 pages of notes. We are approaching the midterm and he does not cover a majority of test questions/material. Does not put anything on Bb either. Like what does he expect us to study? You do not want to get stuck with this guy, comes late all the time and complains when you are late!
He's an okay professor. He makes you write about 10-11 journal entries that are due at the end of the semester. Be on time or don't come at all because he will give you a piece of his mind if it's consistent.
professor sardiello is a very tough grader. his tests are very long, and not easy. At the end of the semester we are required to hand in 9, 2 page reports about current event topics which are not easy and very time consuming. He is extremely lecture heavy and the class is very uninteresting.
Really nice guy, and you can tell he loves sociology. Very lecture heavy and only writes a few words on the board, if you aren't the type of person to absorb info quickly, he may not be the best professor for you. 4 tests overall, 75-80 multiple choice, and a journal entry report, 2 pages per issue and there is 9 issues,18 pgs DONT WAIT GET IT DONE
Absolutly nothing is posted on blackboard and if you lost your syllabus he almost never brings copies. Far to much talking and not nearly as much teaching as his 85 question tests may suggest.
Hes a good guy, but his tests are confusing. Whatever his lectures are you have to know the smallest fact because they are on the test. He reads your journals and he gave me a low mark for some reason that I dont know why/how.. I wouldnt take him again
Really tough grader, gives out a lot of assignments. Not many tests, but every test I studied for I failed. The final was 80 questions long. The lectures are so long; after you write notes, your hand will feel like it's about to fall off. I really do not recommend taking this professor if you struggle with tests like myself. The tests are difficult
Professor S is an extremely nice and funny guy. While his class may be boring at most times he truly has a passion for the subject. I had an unfortunate mishap the last week of classes and mixed up the final dates. He came all the way to campus to let me make it up. Truely goes to show how much he cares weather ypu actually do well or not!!!!
Hes a good guy just don't bring a six pack of beer and a McDonald's breakfast to class and he got the older textbook so its cheaper not all heroes wear capes
Honestly, this is one of the worst classes I've ever taken. A majority of the people in the class barely or didn't pass. No matter how many pages of notes I took and hours I studied for, his tests still were completely irrelevant to his lectures. 85 question tests and a 18 page paper due at end. He's a total weirdo and doesn't care if you do well.
He has a pretty chill personality.
Really funny professor! He presents the material in really relatable ways and likes to crack jokes in the middle of lectures. His lectures are basically the test so as long as you attend and pay attention, you'll get an A. Also, you'll hear him talk about Chipotle and The Walking Dead a lot.
Funny and caring. Makes class fun. One project which is like 3 pages long and a few journals through the semester. Easy and makes class enjoyable!
Very educated professor, truly cares about what he teaches. Mostly lecture and you will need to take notes in order to pass, but its not too much work. Has 3-4 kids do a current events each week which counts as your final, and its super easy. As long as you attend class, you will pass. Highly recommend him.
Fantastic professor. Always found a way to make sociology somewhat enjoyable. He's always trying to get the class involved in lectures and is very understanding. Would love to take his class again
Can be very boring. You do not really have to show up for the classes but if you don't the tests will be that much harder. Tests were long and 80 questions each which can be good and bad. Only 4 tests which is 82% of the grade. Not a bad guy or anything but would have been nice to have a couple quizzes of homework assignments thrown into the mix.
Prof. Sardiello is a really great! He helps you out with the textbook by choosing an older edition. Pay attention in class, look over the textbook and you will do well. I'm not too interested in sociology, but I found it enjoyable during Sardiello's class. The current events were interesting to hear.
DO NOT MISS TESTS. The "make-up" version of the test is like the French would say, de trop. I missed one test due to vacation, and i got a 45 on it. It was all short answer. Imagine jamming 80 multiple choice in 15 short answer. It's gonna suck. Dry humor too, didn't help.
While he uses the textbook, he takes his own approach in terms of the order in which he teaches it. This approach is a lot more logical and sensical than the textbook is, and you will find yourself appreciating Sociology a lot more with Prof. Sardiello. Make sure you attend and take notes, because you will eventually have to do a presentation.
Prof. Sardiello is a cool guy but takes a 100 level class way too seriously. He's a ridiculously tough grader. 3 tests during the semester with 80 questions, one paper. You only get 4 grades for the entire semester so if you don't do well your screwed (and chances are you won't because he looks for perfection and HIS opinion). He's proud of a 70.
At first I wasnt a fan of him but I started to enjoy his class. He is lecture heavy and doesnt have any PowerPoints. Therefore take notes. The hardest part was having to constantly take my own notes. Very engaging sometimes has good jokes. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Sardiello was a great professor. As long as you come to class, pay attention, take good notes, and study you will do good on tests. Tests are easy and straight forward but you need to study in order to do well.
Professor Sardiello is a very caring person when it comes to his students. His class is very lecture heavy and he loves sociology. If you don't understand a lot of the material like I did and are struggling, you're not going to do well. He only gives 4 tests that are 80 questions long and doesn't try and help with extra credit.
Don't take this professor, biggest waste of money. He's a nice guy but clearly doesn't know how to treat his students, Good luck if you take him.
Explains that the textbook wont have all the information that the test covers but proceeds not to provide PowerPoint slides for students to study off of. Outline doesnt help much either. Wouldnt recommend.
Extremely lecture heavy. Also very tough grader and gets off topic a lot of times. Test are 70+ questions so be prepared. Overall just takes a level 100 course too serious and gets confusing in his method of teaching.
Barely any grades throughout semester and difficult to do well in tests since there is nothing to study off of except for your own notes. Dry humor which tends to get the class off topic also just makes the class too boring. You must see sociology the way he sees it or else youll just outright fail. No opportunities for extra credit. Good luck.
Hes a nice guy dont get me wrong, He believes that a 75 is a good grade in his class, it would have been helpful if our grade wasnt based solely on 80 question tests and one current event report in which he was very unclear about what he exactly wanted from the paper.
Overall just not a great professor. He doesnt really care if you do well or not and considering there are only 4 grades throughout the whole semester. Probably best to avoid this professor if you dislike barely anything to grade you on during the semester as well as super lecture heavy classes.
When asking him what he wants for an assignment since he doesn't give rubrics, he will tell you to "look at the bigger picture" and only that. Does not stick to material at all, honestly quite rude. Wouldn't take again simply doesn't care about his students.
An ok professor, does not care about anyone but himself. Responds dry in emails, 4 tests 80 questions each and some questions he did not even teach. Sorry for everyone who took this man.
The test are really tough. He goes out of topic a lot of times. He is a funny guy but doesn't let that fool you, and he's a tough grader.
Beware of this professor. Whole semester feels as if the professor drops hints about sociology and what the test will be on rather then actually teaching. Your pretty much left to teach yourself. Grades you in only 80+ question tests and a current event that is vaguely explained. Good luck.
He's funny and nice but in a teaching aspect he is the worst. It is really hard to pass his exams which are 80+ questions. You are only graded on the 4 exams and 1 current event. I would never take him again...
Professor Sardiello is amazing! He is very passionate about the lecture topics, cares a lot about the material and does a great job explaining it to students. He is a tough grader and the lectures are rather heavy, but as a professor he is very patient and fair with his students. You can't fail this class unless you really try it's very unlikely
Great guy, really nice person also very funny. I took him at Nassau Community college before transferring to FSC and am currently taking another one of his classes this semester, it has been very easy and refreshing.
I took his online course during pandemic, struggled a little, re took the course again in person and am overall extremely pleased. He is quite the jokester during class, lectures are a bit tedious but he makes them interesting. I think hes a great guy inside and out of the classroom. The effort u put into this class makes ur grade. You have 2 try!
All the negatively reviewed comments are biased. These comments were given during the height of the pandemic and professors were forced to alter their teaching styles in ways unimaginable. How about instead of taking it out on the professor, take a step back and ask yourself did you do everything you could to pass? Or did you throw in the towel...
his tests are very challenging and when he lectures he doesn't write the note on the board so everything he say you would have to write down. PARTICIPATION MATTERS skip class it won't be so good
Sardiello has a lot of passion for sociology and it shows in how he presents his lectures. I didn't particularly care for sociology as a subject but he still made it enjoyable to learn. The notes are all vocab and almost all of it is self-explanatory. There will be questions on the test that refer to things he only said in class. Easy and fun class
As a person this prof is pretty nice n tells good stories. As a prof theres room for improvement. No study guides, no notes if you miss em bc he uploads NOTHING online, lateness revokes your rights to extra credit, n guidelines for current events reports are kinda vague. Tests are 70-80 questions. if sociology isnt smth you prefer, avoid this class
He is a nice guy and is passionate about sociology but he is a terrible professor. 90% of the grade is 4 tests that are 80 questions each. The lectures and long and boring and his terrible humor makes it worse. Unless you are going to study a lot do not take this class. Would never take a class with him again.
His lectures r extremely boring He doesn't post anything on BB so if you miss class youre screwed unless you know ppl in class We discuss current event topics and if your opinion isn't the same as his, he basically says youre wrong. He said he's banning all electronics from his class next semester so beware of that. I wouldn't take his class again.
Just not a good professor
Had this professor for an 8am class, would highly recommend not having this professor because he always goes off topic every class and some reason i guess every slide relates to his wife?? He rarely answers emails, always goes off topic when teaching his lessons. very awkward class. tests are really hard with many questions. would not recommend
I really did enjoy the class and Professor Sardiello, but it was not an easy class by any means. The whole grade is 4 tests and a current event report. He does not post the notes or anything on Blackboard. However he is not a tough grader I got B with only 1 test grade over 80. Just try to show up to most if not all classes attendance is huge!
The tests are not as hard as people are saying. If u do not pay attention in class or take notes, it isn't his fault. All the notes are on the board and he gives you ample time to write them. He doesn't post on blackboard. If you have great attendance+come on time u get extra credit. Student does a SHORT presentation and writes a 3-page summary
Professor Sardiello was probably my least favorite professor this semester. He is extremely annoying, you can tell he is extremely knowledgeable about sociology but he is terrible at teaching it. He grades based off of 4 tests and a current event report. These tests are 70+ questions. You NEED to pay attention in this class or you will do bad.
It's a shame because the first half of the semester was enjoyable, and I looked forward to his class. His lectures became highly opinionated and it felt like his beliefs were pushed on everyone else. He also seems to strongly dislike people who play video games. Good luck with the tests because they never get any easier.
Honesty doesn't think this professor was good in the first few lectures and thought he would be a good guy, but soon as I took test one, I knew it would go downhill from there. he gets sidetracked very easily, your whole grade is based on 4 tests that are 75 questions. I HIGHLY DON'T RECOMMEND TAKING HIS CLASS!!!!!!!!
I did not like Professor Sardiello. His tests are very hard. 75+ questions. If you want take take SOC122 take an online course. It will be much easier. You are only graded on tests and a small paper. Very difficult class. Do NOT take!
Best Professor his grading was good, changed from talking to the class, to showing slide shows just be prepared to remember names and their relation to sociology. He would make jokes, one was when I moved from the back of the classroom to the front and the first question was about a student who changed seating 3 weeks in what norm is considered?
he never posted any notes for us to refer to so if you didnt copy them in class ur screwed. miss a test? the make-up tests are 10x harder, going from a multiple choice test to exclusively short answer and essay. Never gave us a study guide for the final, or any exam. would on the regular give us info that he wanted us to remember, not in the book.
very heavy quizzes ,no extra credit assignment ,attendance mandatory , total of 4 tests each test have 75 questions I would recommend you to look for other professor.
please don't take him .There are some other professors too who are really nice so don't take him
This was the worst professor I ever had.
Very quirky and funny. Not a lot of participation from my class, but he enjoys when you do. 4 tests overall (not cumulative), and 1 HW (current event). Be prepared to study A LOT of material for the tests! Dont HAVE to read textbook for tests. ATTENDANCE MATTERS. Takes points off if you are late. Will say important stuff for test in class
If you miss a few classes do not expect to pass.
Not a great professor! He is not clear with his grading and leaves everything for last minute. Tends to always go off topic in lectures that always ends up leading into nothing having to do with the material itself. Does NOT give any study guides to look at for tests and his tests are extremely long with hard grading. Do NOT recommend!
super easy going guy. only thing i wished was he posted notes on BS but it didnt matter. as long as u copied the notes and really pay attention your set. 1 current event report where you include any topic of sociology. test were 76 question sometimes more but again just study the notes and ur good
The class was alright. He graded us mostly on 4 tests, each being 22% of the final grade. He also gave "extra credit" by showing up to class on time. If you showed up 3 or more times late or absent you did not qualify for it. He would get annoyed when people showed up late. He gave us the textbook to read from, but he did say he was gonna update it

Prof. Sardiello is a nice guy and has good intentions but the notetaking is heavy, I have to wait til the last possible second that my bladder is about to burst to go to the bathroom because I'm scared I'm gonna miss notes. Also the current events that we have to do have no clear direction.
A lot of people gave him a bad review but I feel he's a good professor, his class requires you to be present, do some studying, and take notes. He isn't a bad professor. He gives extra credit for being on time for class. 4 tests, 80 multiple questions, but he goes over it all when doing notes. Just take notes and pay attention and you will pass.
Professor Sardiello seems knowledgeable about sociology but does not seem like a great teacher of it. There are 4 tests and a paper. There is very little direction for the paper besides the topic. If you have questions about anything you better ask in person, he will not answer through email until the weekend. Also pushes his beliefs onto the class
Gives extra credit for being present which is great. Only a few tests and 1 project throughout the semester to be graded on. Doesn't give his notes so you must be present and a good note taker if you want to look back at any information.
There are 6 tests, online over the wknd with 46 questions. Pretty easy if you pay attention and take notes. he does post his power points. Gives extra credit for attendance. Don't have to talk in class except for the one current event report everyone has to do. I hate public speaking and it was fine. sometimes annoying but not bad professor.
Professor Sardiello is a great professor. He keeps class interesting and engaging with the lectures, as you can tell he has a lot of passion for what he does. The grade mostly depends on tests- as long as you show up to class and take notes you will do well. I would definitely recommend taking Professor Sardiello
Professor Sardiello has a specific teaching style - be prepared to take notes and stay engaged. The tests are challenging, but using resources like ChatGPT and unstuck study for study prep can really help. Overall, it's a manageable class if you put in the work.
this professor is easily the worst one I had. He says random things that no one cares about. And the biggest thing is he puts his political views on the entire class. And does nothing but talk about trump. He's the most liberal person I have met. I don't recommend him if you want to take sociology and not a class about his political beliefs
Professor Sardiello is an awesome professor. He's genuinely a really good guy who cares about his students. He's one of the few professors I've had who is really passionate about what he is teaching. It's important to attend classes as the examples he provides in class are on tests! He also offers extra credit for attendance. Would take again
Says the textbook is mandatory, i haven't used it once. Half of the notes are just words and he barely explains what the terms mean and what about them is on the tests. He will ramble about random stuff that nobody asked for, and he has 6 tests w/random essay. Does not clearly state what will be on the test, and leaves a lot up to interpretation.
Do not be late to this class, even though 90% of the time he is. Extra credit for attendance, which will not be given if late or u miss 3 classes. If you're late, he will stop talking, check his phone, sigh, and make a passive aggressive comment about lateness every single time someone walks in late. Good luck if you take him, do not recommend.
Tests don't cover what he talks about in the notes and in the notes it just says we talked about it in class(cause that's real helpful).
Starts talking about random things mid class. Brings up politics way too often. Tests aren't on what he discusses in class. You have to teach yourself whatever you think you might get tested on.
He wasn't the best, but not too bad. He gets sidetracked a lot and will start talking about random stuff. Take notes during his lectures, because he does share the slideshows, but it just says "we talked about this in class." Overall, he's not the worst, but if there are other classes available, I'd take those instead
He is a good professor he just likes to go off topic and becomes way too political sometimes
