Without question the worst professor I have ever had. He is totally unqualified to be teaching at a college level. His class essentially consists of a mountain of busywork (daily mandatory/graded note taking anyone?) and his musings on vaguely historical topics. On top of which, he only seems to have a surface level of knowledge on the subject.

Easy to pass and get an A if you just do what's asked however it's almost not worth it. Sawall is very boring and stuck in his ways and you can't do it any other way. Confusing instruction, you're always reading, and belittles students that disagree with him. Lectures are awful because he just discusses whatever he wants and a lot isn't tested.

there's a reason this professor hasn't received an average passing grade on this site in over 2 years. avoid taking his classes if you wanna enjoy the next 15 weeks of your life. unengaged lectures, will occasionally spend a whole class period talking about how much he doesn't agree with X topic and then won't test you on it but requires attendance

lectures are a boring drag, you'll have read the entire textbook by the end of the semester, he doesn't explain his assignments or grading and suddenly you're docked for reasons you didn't know. There are farrr better prof's than this do yourself a favor and stay away

Really enjoyed class. I earned over 100% in class. Assignments were the usual with a research paper. Exams were online and multiple choice. Overall, I thought he was passionate an interesting to listen to. Loved the vest every day look. He was super willing to work with me when I needed extra time for a few assignments.

Enjoyed class and lectures. Course work was straight forward, portfolio w lecture and reading notes, exams were online, there was a semester long research paper. This course will require 3-4 hours outside of class each week to stay on top of things- unless you are ruthlessly efficient, Sawall's favorite saying.

Prof. Sawall, while very old school in his teaching style, is not a bad professor. He is a very easy grader. Does require Cornell Note style for readings and lectures, but you are allowed to use any notes you take on the tests. 3 tests for the semester. His overall demeanor makes you feel like you can't talk to him, but give him a chance. He cares.

The dude is definitely intersting and a little crazy too. Honestly that's what made the class something to look forward too. He used a lot of sarcasm and I could never tell if he was serious. However, it was a very easy class to pass and I overall recommend this professor.

Powerpoint lecture driven class but their interesting. Grade made of required cornell notes =reading- from textbook- and lecture note + 3 exams but you can use your notes on them so they were not difficult-- if you took the notes. There is a semester long research paper so make sure to choose a non boring topic + meet w him about the paper often.

Honestly, I loved this class and this professor. Lectures can be a bit boring, but he gives a short break halfway through, which helps kind of reset everything. Grading was clear and very lenient. One of the easiest yet interesting classes I've ever taken. Extra credit is given easily and casually.

Best professor I've had so far. Clear expectations and his lectures were a blast. I learned about Cornell notes which I probably would've never heard of unless he instructed about them. Very straight forward class except for the Individual Research Project. The project was easy for me since I'm okay at writing, but may be difficult for others.
