Dr. Schachel is amazing! I took him in the summer. You can tell he has a real passion for what he does. Before essays are due he takes the time to meet with each student individually to make sure you have an idea of what you're doing. He's young enough that he can still relate to his students and he's fun!

Schachel is a fantastic English teacher. He's young, cool, and understanding. I remember to help us remember a little about one of the authors he told us very juicy gossip about their lives that made it so we couldn't forget them. He loves Gothic literature so that was one of our main points in Comp 2.

GREAT TEACHER. It's NOT an easy class to get an A in, you really have to work for it, but you'll definitely learn a lot. He was really willing to help with anything (even helped with putting together a thesis for my essay). I truly enjoyed the class and am glad I chose to take it. He talks quite a bit, but it's mostly educational and he's hilarious

HE IS REALLY NICE, YOU LEARN A LOT IN THIS CLASS, ALSO USEFUL WRITING METHODS FOR OTHER CLASSES. HE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP YOU OUT BUT IT IS NOT AN EASY CLASS YOU HAVE TO PUT A LOT OF EFFORT WHILE WRITING YOU PAPERS.

Dr. Schachel is a very passionate proffesor, He truely cares about his students. He can make a writer out of anyone. He takes his time making sure one understands the class material. He is stiff on attendents. But, if you show up and do your work, you should recieve a good mark. Dr. Schachel is the best. Thank You Dr. Schachel!

Dr. Schachel is an awesome teacher who definitely *knows* his stuff. English, for the most part, *is* a tough subject so do not expect it to be an easy course; however, Dr. Schachel definitely makes it so much easier. His expectations, especially, are crystal clear, so you know exactly what you need to do. Ultimately, he is good professor over all.

Dr Schachel is a BAMF! he makes class fun and involves everyone. he is very Fair on his grading especially on his first paper. He rarely gives homework but he does give reading Actually read the stories most of them are short and good and really help on the papers, quizzes are easy if you read! He talks about Harleys alot lol overall, best teacher

Class is nicely structured, wouldnt say easy A, you have to do work but its College level, nothing extremely difficult but the challenge is to keep up with the readings, Fun, outgoing teacher! Loves his job,and is willing to help with ANY problems or conflicts you run into (class wise).Loved having his class and would take him again.

Probably one of the best professors I have ever seen. He goes out of his way to ensure that everybody in this class learns the material and gets the help they need - the conferences are wonderful! Smart, entertaining, and really knows his stuff. He is the only professor I've ever taken to get a perfect 5 from me - TAKE HIM. You won't regret it.

the most approachable, friendly, and helpful professor i have ever had. he obviously loves his job. he is animated and funny during what would usually be a boring lecture. though he does have an uncanny ability to relate all reading assignments back to incest, masturbation, or inappropriate student-teacher relations. dont let this deter you!

One of THE best english teacher Ive ever had! I have an issue with skipping but his class made me WANT to attend everyday. He tells you what hes looking for and what you need to do in order to achieve that level. Makes boring lectures very laughable. Very understanding and helpful. If there were any more classes I could take with him, i would!

he was a great teacher and we learned alot from him! the only thing that could get annoying is he talks to much about his PHD, but other than that i would take him again!! you have 3 papers no final your 3rd paper is your final and he has conferences to help you with your papers a few quizzes on the reading!but nothing hard. overall good class

honestly, i hate english i hate writing papers and i hate reading ! but this class is not that bad! I did not read any of the stories, only when i had to write the 3 papers and i managed to get a high B in the class. All it takes is to listen to his lectures and you will do good in the quizes. this class is GREAT! Dont think about skipping hes FUN!

Dr. Schachel has a bit of a big head (figuratively) but he can get away with it because, for the most part, he's right when he says he's the best English Professor ever. He's very clear in his instructions and teaching and he's a lot of fun. Only downside is that he does use some bad language and inappropriate comments some times.

Dr. Schachel is literally the best English teacher out there. He hates high school English teachers a lot, but for good reason. He taught me everything i should have learned in the past 11 years and more! absolutely the best. I wish he would teach more classes.

I seriously registered for his class before my 1101 class was even OVER for a few weeks! He's THAT good! He gives you step by step what makes a good writer and explains why its important! Dr. Schachel is great! He is very passionate about what he teaches. His class is challenging but he is more than willing to help you along the way. Overall, a wonderful teacher and a great class! I still have not recieved my final grade, but currently have an 89.4% (yes, he even gives you progress reports!)

He is a great professor. He might talk a lot but he teaches you things about the material that is being learned and explains it so that you can relate to it. This class is not recommended for constantly late or constantly absent students. If you are absent 3 times, he WILL drop you from the course. He will make sure that you know how to write.

Great professor! Very clear on what he expects and gives you almost all the handouts you need the first couple weeks if you have questions. Grades very fair & keeps you, the student, in mind. Attendance is a MUST, and do the PEER REVIEWS - such an easy grade and missing one can drop your grade a letter point.

Dr. Schachel is a really good professor. He knows what he is talking about and is very helpful and understanding. I went into that class knowing close to nothing about writing a good paper and know I know alot. I recommended him to all my friends.

My favorite professor yet!! He knows what hes talking about and makes sure everyone understands everything. He tries to keep it interesting. Its not too difficult but he challenges you to use your full potential and wants you to succeed. Just show up to class and do the work and you should have no problem passing. I would DEFINITELY suggest him!!

This guy is good. I wanted to read more and this class gave me the incentive. He assigned a lot of reading and then we discussed it in class. I view things differently from this class and take "symbolism" into consideration. Sorry, he's not hot thought i don't know why he has a chili! bahaha! p.s, he's kind of a rambler.

Professor Scachel is awesome!! He does challenge you, but his class isn't exactly difficult either. He actually teaches you how to write well and will help you with anything as long as you ask. He rambles a bit, but he is funny and laid back. Just be sure to show up to class and do the essays and you'll definitely get an A.

Schachel is alright. He knows his material extremely well and is a good teacher. I would definitely recommend him for Comp 1. My only two complaints are that he rambles on about nonsense often and lets you out late every day.

An amazing professor, he his extremely helpful but not a pushover, he challenges you to think in different ways. He talks a lot but sometimes those are the ways you learn the most. He is incredible I loved him and wished he taught other classes. I would take him again.

This class is not an easy A, but you will probably learn more about English than you've ever known. Be prepared for long metaphors and some rambling. Very good class over all. Three essays 1500-1700 words. Show up for peer reviews! If you come to class, listen, and work hard you'll do well.

Definitely not an easy A. You will definitely learn how to be a better writer but you have to work for it. At times he does ramble and can come of a little arrogant. SHOW UP TO ALL HIS CLASSES!! He has strict policies that you cannot argue. Study his handouts!! Grades fairly but doesnt let many errors slide.

I took Dr. Schachel for comp 1 & 2. He is definitively the best professor ever. He is really helpful and its awesome the things you learn while reading stories and writing papers. He knows what he is talking about. I'm really going to miss him and all his metaphors and what not. He is super funny and REALLY helpful but you WILL learn in his class.

He was really cool and he always was joking around and telling funny stories to try an relate it to the essay we had to write next. Even though he talks a lot and is repetitive he is pretty amusing. Does not give any tests expect final, rarely uses the book, mostly writing essays.

Dr. Schachel is the best instructor I've had at Valencia. Yes, a great class but also no walk in the park. I had little interest in Literature until I took his class because his passion for his trade is contagious. If you want a real education, take his class. If you want an easy A (i.e. No education), go elsewhere.

Dr. Schachel's class is a challenging course, but put in the effort and go to his office hours- He is there to help you! He makes class fun and you will learn A LOT. It is a difficult course, but he is a great professor. Very charismatic and full of awesome, sometimes random knowledge. The papers are pretty hard but he helps you each step of the way. Overall I would recommend his class....you will learn a lot!

Amazing professor. Would recommend to everyone. I told all of my friends to take him because he will teach you. You'll earn your grade. I use what he taught us in every class which helped me pass all my papers with an A. If you do bad on an essay youll know why you got the grade you got, you get what you earn.

He's a pretty good professor. VERY BIG ON ATTENDANCE AND PLAGIARISM! Don't be absent more then 2x and don't get caught! His class was pretty interesting and he was helpful. Kind of conceited about having a PHD and swears High School teachers are not qualified to teach. Really enjoyed his conferences. Overall, I would recommend him.

Dr. Schachel is my favorite professor by far! He teaches you so many things that help you improve your writing and although he may be a "grammar drill sergeant" he really wants to help you succeed. He is a super funny professor; needless to say his classes are never dull and boring!

He is a very interesting professor. Believe me, there was never a dull moment in his classroom. One of the most fun classes i have had this semester. However, this is not an easy class. He grades very tediously but he gives you a lot to help you out. Not an easy class but I learned so much about writing.

Interesting professor. Entertains the class with his funny stories. Very helpful, although we dont use the textbooks much. 4 papers, 1 quiz and final exam.

He can be a harsh grader but at the end of the class you'll notice he raised your knowledge more than average level! Doing your best in your papers will be well worth it with him! Believe me, i took him on flex start and English is my 2nd language! I still don't know my final grade but i was close to an A by a few points before the final exam.

He was a great professor. He stated everything he wanted and how he wanted it from the start of the semester. I am looking forward to his ENC1102 class.

Dr. Schachel is truly one of a kind. He made this class anything but boring. He is one of most interesting teachers I've ever had. He has a great way of using modern movies to help students understand these old stories. He has such a passion for this and it rubs off on you. Papers are somewhat tough but you'll get through it. He's a down to Earth professor who does not mind veering off topic for a while to drop some personnel life lessons. Which by the way are always captivating and funny and true. If you just try a little you are almost guaranteed to pass easily.

You will definitely learn in this class! He will teach you if you just listen and don't skip class. He's very nitpicky with papers though, pay attention to every small detail because he always does. I took Dr. Schachel for ENC 1101&1102. He is an amazing professor. I can relate to every single lecture he gives. His style of teaching is unique and I enjoy it. Excellent professor! Took him for both my 1101 and 1102 and would change nothing! He is very passionate, and expects a certain work ethic out of his students and also has mandatory attendance. Definitely recommend for anyone who is even a little interested in literature .

Dr. Schachel is a great professor. I took him for American Literature. It sadly is his last semester teaching this class because it is no longer a Gordon rule but if you can take him for any other class I would recommend him. It is almost as if he is a friend and not a teacher. Very cool guy!

Dr Schachel seems like a tough teacher, but if you just listen to what he wants you to do and finish all of your papers, it's definitely easy to get an A. I've always thought I was a strong writer but he made me an even stronger one. I learned more in his class in one semester than I think I did all of highschool. TAKE HIM!!!!

Dr. Schachel is a living encyclopedia! he really knows his stuff, although he's not the typical boring professor that teaches straight from the textbook, instead he'll try to make it as if he was telling you a story. His discussions are fun even though he might get off topic LOL. 2 essays, 2 presentations, 1 paperwork, friendly grader and teacher.

I took Dr Schachel over the summer - wow! All the books he asks for, you actually use. He is upfront with what he expects and gives solid guidance prior to an assignment. On a personal note, I wish I had taken his class 10, or even 15, years ago. He offers real life wisdom and anecdotes. My life would have been completely different positively.

Utilizes professional & personal experience to make his lectures informative & entertaining. Genuinely wants his students to succeed, but makes you work for it. Beware of rambling, but he is regularly available for office hours if his message got lost in the story. Take one of his SL classes to get extra study sessions with a seasoned student!

Nice teacher. Very funny and is not a class that you will be bored in. He gives a lot of good information that really makes you think about life and will make you glad you took the class.

The one professor that will actually ask how your day has been going. He says he teaches young adults in the world and takes a solid 10 minutes everyday at the beginning of class and just talks to his students (off topic stuff but its cool that he cares about his students) He's a hard grader and his essays are difficult. Would recommend.

He's a great teacher. I have probably learned more about English than I have over the 12 years in grade school. He teaches more than just English. He gives life lessons and is always ready to help. He is strict but he just doesn't want slackers. You have to try in his class or you won't pass.

Professor Schachel truly cares about students and teaching. His content is clear and grading is fair. I hate English with a burning passion but I actually enjoyed it this semester. He is quite hilarious but yet professional. Best of all he is trusting and willing and able to work with you if life happens.

Dr. Schachel is amazing. I'm sure with the class being Comp you're probably dreading it, so I'd definitely suggest him. He not only teaches English and writing but he teaches you about life. There are mixed reviews for Dr Schachel and I get it he is not the easiest professor but I am so happy I chose him for my first semester, yeah his essays are difficult but he teaches YOU LEARN IN THIS CLASS like seriously! Learned a lot from this professor! People go on about how he talks too much, but he's just trying to make the class interesting. He responds to any emails you have and answers any questions. The papers were Fine, B's on the first two and A's on the last two, so I definitely improved under his teaching! Very funny and you'll enjoy him!

Not a very hard class but that is not to say that he does not teach you much. And he gives a crap, which is not easy to find. Very intelligent. Kind of a smart aleck, but I found it more comical than irritating. Just do the work, show up, ask questions if you have any, and you will get a good grade while learning plenty.

Professor Schachel is one the best professors I've had so far. He knows how to handle a classroom setting so that it a comfortable environment for student to express their ideas freely. I highly recommend taking his class. Also, if you are uneasy about your capabilities regarding grammar, Professor Schachel is sure to assist with that.

Learned something new in class every day. Actually looked forward to being in his class. He talks a lot. No way around that. However, he's interesting and what he says is of substance IMO. He assigns a lot of stories to read but he doesn't give much work on them. As long as you can give a synopsis of the stories you'll get an A. Would recommend.

He gives a reason for everything he does. You don't do anything that is not already stated over and over again. Every handout matters, and to get an "A" is only plausible if you go over the handouts and commit them to memory. He likes to ease students into learning, not going straight into the objective hoping students will float or swim.

He rambles....A lot, but I actually didn't mind the rambling because its useful & interesting information. Not that much work. 2 group projects, 1 individual assignment, 2 papers (350 - 500 words) midterm & final. He's also kinda funny. Would def recommend.

Everything you should know about Professor Schachel: he gives wonderful lectures about the topics discussed in class, however, sometimes he tends to go on insightful miniature tangents; he prepares you for every test, essay, and group project that is assigned; furthermore, he fills the class with fun and exciting pieces of literature.

I became a good writer after taking this class, or at least a confident one! I liked this professor so much that I took ENC 1102 with him too!

They always say your English teacher is either absolutely amazing or the worst person youll ever meet, Dr. Schachel is the first. Hes absolutely hilarious and goes off on rants the entire first half hour of class, yet he still manages to teach. Definitely take his class.

Dr. Schachel is extremely passionate about teaching and it shows! He will require attendance, but you will be better prepared because of it. He sometimes gets sidetracked and long winded, but his love for your success will far surpass any drag. Many options for extra credit and the embedded tutors were a HUGE HELP! He does get side tracked and talks about his personal life but his excuse for this is to make a personal connection with his students and even when he talks for the first 30 min of class we still manage to get work done. Study your commas and you should be fine.

Dr. Schachel is a professor that I will remember for the rest of my life. He is clearly passionate about what he does, and you will come out of his class a better person. Going beyond just teaching English, his lectures have a lot of valuable life lessons as well. Took him for ENC 1101, ENC1102, and will be taking him again for LIT 1000. Take him!

Professor Schachel is a good teacher. If I were you I would only take his classes during the fall and spring semester. Unless you can handle a super fast pace and heavy loaded work. I do love his teaching! He teaches grammar etc. His quizes are on what you read. He does have a lot of reading in 1102. Group Project and 3 essays. He is amazing!

Great professor. He definitely cares about his work and it shows through his lectures. However, there are certain things I think most students can agree on. He talks a lot which is entertaining at times and good, but there are times where we can be way off topic and everything needed done needs to be finished last minute. Stressful for sure.

Study and make sure to look at the handouts he gives in order to succeed. His course also has attached CARE Coaches, which are built-in tutors for the class (and theyre excellent, go to them before a paper or test). Hes funny and lighthearted but does teach you valuable English lessons and life advice. Overall, I very much recommend his courses.

Like everyone says, he does indeed talk a lot. He is cool though. He gives good feedback and gives very clear instructions for your papers. His lectures are fun and he is really good at explaining things. He will spend most of the class time talking about things that have nothing to do with class, so be aware.

Has a great personality, but that personality gets in the way of talking about the assignments. He is too anecdotal in class. He is very caring, and actually wants you to succeed, so he teaches the course material to prepare you for ENC 1102. Him being caring is what makes his course difficult. Study the quiz, midterm and final are based on it

Took during pandemic. Great professor and teaches throughly, you will pass this class as long as you watch the videos he posts.

Hes great. I love writing and his assigned essays were consistently interesting and engaging. His grading criteria is very clear, and although attendance isnt mandatory, go to class anyway. His lectures are always fun. 12/10 would take again

One of my favorite professors, truly wants to see you succeed and makes time to meet each student during office hours so you really understand your assignments before you do them!

I'm not a fan of English as a taught subject, but I love Dr. Schachel. I felt like I learned a lot in his class because he went through basic grammar structure that I missed in K-12 and made it more formulaic. I used to just slap commas everywhere and hope for the best. Also really cool guy outside of class and great extra Zoom meetings.

ENC 1101 mixed mode/ENC 1102 online. Schachel will give you every tool you need to become a great writer, but your overall grade/experience depends on the amount of effort you put in. He's funny, realistic, and a very genuine human being! The materials he provides are great references and will help you do your part. The lit is good too! Def recc :)

Professor Schachel is down-to-earth, relatable, and has a passion for English. He is clear about his expectations, fair with grades, and entertaining. The videos are long but give all the information needed to be successful. There are four papers to write, two assignments per paper, a midterm, and a final. I will definitely take him for 1102.

If you listen and ask questions he supplies you with the gelp you need regarding any issues you have, and if you put in the effort it gets reflected in your grade.

Took both 1101 & 1102, he gets sidetracked in lectures a lot, but always somehow loops around to what he is supposed to be teaching, plus his stories make the class entertaining. Provides lots of help in and outside of class and wants the best for you. If you pay attention, everything is very clear cut and you know exactly what to do and how.

He is very good at his job. There are four main papers. He does have time available to speak to him about your papers if you have any questions. When someone has a question he answers it very thoroughly which I appreciate.

So well organized and clear when teaching. He was always available if you needed help and he's actually kind of funny.

Dr. Schachel is a great Professor! For 1101 Comp, he has 4 papers throughout the semester. There are easy assignments in between to help you balance your grade. There is no extra credit, BUT there's no need for it. His style of teaching is nice and clear to understand. TAKE HIM

Amazing professor to have if you are a taking this class first semester of freshman year, he is very funny and wise. However, he did not teach much about the subject in class but had videos posted on canvas that helped. If you follow the criteria for what he wants on the essays and you put the work into this class it is not very difficult.

Prof Schachel talks a lot in class about random things, but he has many resources in Canvas and prerecorded lessons so if you miss class or he talks the whole time, it doesn't matter. The videos are extremely helpful. He is a very nice guy and knows what he's talking about. The essays are hard but doable because there is a lot of help available.

Dr. Schachel is a wonderful professor and he has amazing lectures. He teaches more than just English. I will definitely take his class again

The best professor I have ever had. If you want to be taught in a way that will keep you engaged for hours on end, then take your ENC with doc. doc had amazing lectures and really solid advice about life, education, and success. I'd take him for every class if I had the chance.

normal four papers for the semester. they are not too hard to deal with, and if you pay attention to the basics of writing and keep to the mla format (basically follow his 'scream list') you are bound to get a good grade on your papers. he goes off on tangents but he is passionate about teaching and wants you to succeed. highly recommend.

At first, I will admit I did not like the class, but after time I truly did start learning things. The one thing I did not care for is how tuff of a grader he is, so this, when I went to his care, coach her name is Savannah and she is probably the only reason I actually passed his class. Overall I would say this class is a 8/10 on challenging side.

Dr. Schachel is a great english professor. He definitely knows what he is teaching, and if you pay attention you will greatly improve your writing skills. The course consisted of four papers and three tests about grammar rules. He talks A LOT. Be prepared to spend at least half of the class listening to stories. Good professor overall.

This professor is great, I would 100% take him again. There is 4 papers and a few quizzes but all are easy once you get to know his writing style. They get harder by paper, but overall pretty easy. He takes his time to teach the content you will use for the papers. But, he does talk a lot and if that's a problem for you then don't take him.

I have NEVER been a fan of English class because the language has so many inconsistencies. Despite this, Dr. Schachel was a fantastic professor, simply because he makes complicated matters extremely easy to understand. Some of his assignments were tedious, but if you want to learn without hating the class, then I'd VERY HIGHLY recommend Schachel.

Light workload with only 3 1500 word papers plus 2 small assignments to go with each paper. He gives an insane amount of time to write each paper. He grades pretty hard, but that was something I appreciated. He also gives super in-depth feedback. One of the best English professors I have had.

Honestly, I did better than I expected, and it is all thanks to the professor's in-depth feedback that helped me learn and improve my writing. I was able to increase my marks with each paper by reflecting on his feedback. Also, the care coach, Savannah, was really sweet and helpful. I could not have done it without her help and guidance.

Dr. Schachel is probably one of the best English professors here, so if you have to opportunity to take his class, do it! There are 3 major essays and 1 project. He is a bit of a tough grader, as he is nitpicky about grammar, punctuation, and style, but he gives great feedback and the video lectures he has are in-depth and are genuinely so helpful!

I had him as an online class and hes so understanding. hes taught me so much and he does focus on a lot of details like grammar and punctuation like A LOT but it helped me be a strong writer. I recommend him regardless and he provides videos that go into detail.

sometimes his instructions feel a bit vague, so it's good to get him after class and talk with him. he's entertaining and his class is enjoyable to sit through. he knows his stuff and although he may get side-tracked, he's still a good professor in my eyes. would recommend him, as he's very caring and understanding as well.

At first, I didn't like class and hated everything about it but I started learning. He is a TOUGH grader, especially about grammar GRAMMAR. 3 major papers and some quizzes honestly not too bad.He gives a LOTS amount of time to write each paper. He gives LOTS of feedback so after the first paper you get BETTER AND BETTER. if you fail that's on you.

Very detailed oriented Professor (Doctor) of English. Although his criteria is strict, and I mean strict! The knowledge is invaluable. I recommend his online course.

One of the best professors I've had, he is so well-informed on everything and gives advice about anything. The class was fairly easy, there was 2 group projects and 2 papers, a midterm and a final. The work becomes easier the more you show up to class and aren't missing out on his lectures.

I have had having Dr. Schachel for 3 semesters and I can say Dr. Schachel is one of the most inspirational educators I have ever had. If you need an english professor, I cannot recommend him enough. He's really fun and his story's are great. Sometimes we wouldn't talk about any of the actual material but most of the class work was writing essays with clear instructions he had given in person and online. If you want someone strictly for teaching maybe he's not for you. If you like a professor that makes your class interesting he's great

I took Dr. Schachel's class for Freshman Comp 1 and 2 many years ago. Out of all the college professors I've had, he is definitely one of the few that still stick out to me. He is a great teacher and speaker, making class interesting. I wouldn't say that he's a difficult grader, but rather he pushes you to excel and clearer sets expectations.

Dr. Schachel is the best teacher ever! I was so sad when I could not take him for ENC 1102 because he has so much to teach. He teaches more important things than just English, such as cooking skills, insurance hacks, and general life hacks. One thing he taught that stuck out to me was "don't fight to win, fight to solve".

He's a great teacher, though he tends to ramble, which can be frustrating since his actual lessons are really good. Office hours help a lot, and his care coach Savannah is great. He's a tough but fair grader. You'll definitely learn how to be a better writer in this class.

Professor Schachel is one of the best and most genuine professors I have taken at Valencia. His heart is in what he does 100%, tough grader but if you show up to classes, listen, and apply what he has taught you will be fine. He is big on not only teach course material, but also relevant life skills. Just pay attention and show up.

Dr. Robert Shachel was a highly energetic but engaging professor for my Freshman Comp I class. The information taught in this class are informative and will leave a lasting impact on your writing abilities if you truly pay attention. If English is something you are willing to increase your knowledge on, Dr. Robert Schachel is an amazing option.

He was very sweet and kind, but be prepared to stay late after class. Honestly, the essays were pretty easy, but he's a tough grader who makes sure you know your mistakes. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but he can tell you don't go to class by your essays. All tests were taken at home and online, and he gives you a couple of days to finish.

Excellent professor, very caring and passionate. The only problem is he often goes off on tangents, and while he's knowledgeable, it can make it hard to ask questions or access him outside of class. Other than that, he is excellent, and I would retake him again if I could.

Dr. Schachel is an excellent professor and also pretty funny. I would totally recommend this course, especially because of how he doesn't only teach what's required for the class and goes beyond that, he engages with the class in a different way than other professors, and also gives really good feedback on the papers.

TAKE THIS CLASS! Dr. Schachel was amazing. He knows what he's talking about and never made anybody feel bad for asking questions. He's lecture heavy but the assignments are not hard. Super funny yet inspiring professor who has a passion for what he does. Class was delightful, not much assignments however there were two group projects, they weren't too bad. Had him as he was having a difficult time in his personal life and I could tell he kept trying his best to do what he could for us, and it showed. Hope the best for him!

If writing is not your thing, but you're good at following format, this is the professor for you. Dr. Schachel created "The Scream List," which he uses to grade all papers out of 100% (content, format, style, grammar -- graded out of 25 points). Basically if your paper is garbage, but you write it well, you can easily secure a 75%.

Dr. Schachel feels like a rare case nowadays. He is extremely dedicated and passionate about education and spreading knowledge (he yaps, but he's real). This class was not only informative but also a great deal of fun. It is project-based, so participate, and you will pass. Don't be a bad project member! It is really fun if you open up and try.

Not a lot of assignments for this class (LIT 1000) but a good amount of group work. He's very chill and I'll take him again for enc 1102. He does talk a lot at the beginning of class about random stuff so I wish he would stay on topic a little more because he's clearly very knowledgeable about his subject and I feel like we could learn more.
