Fair tests...so-so...
very nice, read the notes and read the book for test it really helps!!!
He is kinda boring just cuz he goes through the material slowly, but do not fear he lets you have the time in the world to copy down his notes. He's kinda hard to figure out...
He's hilarious...very easy tests and quizzes, good notes. Makes the class fun.

If you have a hard time copying notes quickly w/o losing concentration in class then TAKE HIM! Crap, he gives you tons of notes slowly but hey, his notes are actually not bad.

Classes are boring buthe makes up for it. He's funny and odd. Notes are very helpful. Tests are easy if you study your old quizes and notes. Yeeeeaah.
Tough , he fail half of the class, coz they question on the exam was tough and hard, try not to take his class, your GPA will never increase, only decrease with him
Very hard course, i try my best, he does not teach so i could not know how to study. Take other treacher and run away from him seriously.
Every Quiz and Term test is cover from the beginning chapter to the chapter he finished the day b4 exam. The first midterm almost cover 6 chapter and the 2nd midterm almost cover 9-10 chapter. This is not a final exam.
He gives you notes on the overhead and you spend the whole class copying them down. Pretty boring way of teaching.
I would recommend to anyone that wants to read only the notes for tests, there's no need to buy a text book, he never uses the test book, but sometimes on exams there are MCs from the text book,
You can't learn from him, but if you review the note you can get the higt mark form the quiz. Not so hard
he doesnt know how 2 teach. goes over non-sense and write in paragraphs. textbook is better than him but not by much. tests are on whatever he feels and he doesnt review!
Teacher is very unclear in his notes and tests. Very poor notes which consits of long paragraphs that don't even make sense. Very tricky questions in quizes but in test just repeats previous questions.
if u wanna take his course, u just need remeber the notes. that's the only way to get high mark, even though his teaching is not good.

Odd fellow...very monotonous voice. I found that many questions on the tests are from the study guide and it's quite easy if you get it. It was almost useless going to glass...other than to see him crack a joke. Nice guy...but boring.
Go to class!! Test questions come right from his notes!! Review ALL the notes for an hour or two the night before the exams and you'll have no problem. If everyone does poorly on a question he would give it to us or omit it. He's a bit boring, but got an A without much effort.
He can't explain very well! the notes are just paragraphs- most/all of the test questions come from his notes. the text will only help you a bit. the questions are sometimes confusing, so understand his notes and ask him if you don't understand. Don't take his class unless you have no other choice. MEMORIZE HIS NOTES!!!
very easy instructor, if you read the notes and liston in calss you can easyly score an A. His exams are super easy and he is a super easy marker. Even the dumbest could get an A from him. Warning* He repeates the quesions on his quizes in his test.
Horrible teacher.He discusses irrelevant material.He started a section, but then told us that he didn't want to cover it b/c he didn't want to stress us out close to exams, I NEED TO KNOW THIS STUFF.I got a B in this class, but would strongly recommend against taking it with him, try Veldhuis (makes it fun) or Christian-Quao (has really good notes)
VERY HELPFUL TEACHER. HIS NOTES IS MUCH HELPFUL THAN THE TEXT BOOK, AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. HIS TEXT IS BASED ON HIS NOTES AND EASY. HE IS A GREAT TEACHER.
i don't know why ppl give him such a low rating. sure, his notes are in paragraphs, but hey, they're actually pretty good. his tests are super easy, half of the q's come from the quizzes. then, he gives bonus marks on quizes, so most get perfect. also, he gives out hints and the q's that he will use on the test. how easy of a teacher is that???
EASIEST ECON PROFF, EXAMS AND QUIZES ARE EASY IF YOU READ HIS NOTES. I DON'T SEE WHHY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT HIM I GUESS THEY HATE EASY PROFS.
why r ppl complaining? HE'S NOT HARD! u just gotta study the notes for tests b/c a lot of the written questions come from the notes. as for the m/c, a few came out of the study guide, but that was about 10 over three exams. just go to class to take the notes and study from them. with this method, you'll at least end up with B-
very boring and all you do is copy down notes which he took from the textbook. doesn't know what he's talking about especially when he is asked something that's not in the textbook. tests are ok, just memorize everything in the notes and read the textbook if something's not clear to you. questions can sometimes be confusing though
very easy class!!! easy quizs and a little bit hard mid term and final!! anyways~ if u want high GDP and MARKS, u should take him!!!
WORST TEACHER EVER!Doesn't explain in detail. Doesn't give you feedback and doesn't say where you stand. Wastes time giving you notes that he writes on the board or on the Overhead projector which is so 80s. Don't take him if you're new to Econ. He's not much of an explaner. Talks about stuff that aren't relevent.
Honestly, he is not a clear teacher. His class is pretty boring and dull, but his test is very easy!! The test is straight from his notes. If you were a type a person who want to get a high mark, I will suggest to take his class. If you want to learn someting, I will not suggest him.
Awesome teacher! ALthough all he does is give you notes in class, as long as you're familiar with them, you'll ace his class. You should know however, that all of his exam questions are from his quizzes. So even if you don't do well on the quizzes, be smart enough to memorize the right answers. Very Effective prof!!
His classes are easy. I took both econ. 1150 and 1250 with him and got two As!
I definitely do not recommend this teacher. he is very unclear. He never gives a straight answer and It takes him forever to do one thing. He's the worse teacher i've had at Kwantlen.
best teacher in all of the universities/ colleges. you will not find a teacher who is more thorough and knows how to teach better than robert scharff, ive taken 1150 and 2280, both A+ nice work!
He is really unclear. I think I learnd nothing from this class. This fall semester, He changed outline of the class, and made the tests very, very tough. It's so hard for students to get good grades even you work hard! If you want to waste your money and low your GPA, take him!!!!!!
So boring class!!! He doesn't know how to teach. Why made tests so tough this semester? I was suck to believe those ratings. Stay away!!!!
He does not say a lot, just copy,copy and copy his overhead paragraph notes...but you will find the exams are much easiser than expected

His classes were very easy,just copied the notes that he gave you in class,studied them.
Very nice person! Always love to help his students,and sometimes even help during the exam!! (I got helped during the finnal) No rules in his class, students can study anyways they prefer. Very fun and interesting lecture, lots of examples and joks! All in all, very good teacher!! Thak his class, you will never regret.

Great prof. No participation needed. Class gets borin cuz all u do is take down notes but it makes it real easy. If you use his notes for quizzes and tests u'll do great; don't worry about using the text, only use it for clarification on certain topics. WATCH OUT for his trick questions!! make sure u read the question CAREFULLY!! overall great prof
Good professor. Just study the notes and you'll get a good mark. It's really easy to get marks because the written portion of the test are from straight his notes. There is no homework and no participation marks in class. Just copy the notes, then go home and study them. He's also hilarious. Would definitely recommend!
He is nice and tells stupid jokes but is a horrible teacher.. he's completely unlear about what is going to be on tests making them impossible to prepare for! The class average was very low and incredibly BORING. Really frusterating because no matter how much you study he puts trick questions on his tests! I definately would not take him again.
Avoid
Hard marker. Class is based on 4 quizzes totalling 20%, and 2 tests 25% each. Final is 30%. Mostly multiple choice but questions are worded very difficultly and very misleading and tricky. Class extrememely boring. Very very hard and no room for a mistake you can recover from.
Stay away. Run far away. His test questions are very very misleading. The class average is low for people who havent taken this class more than once. As well, he is the most unflexible teacher ever. Very un-empathetic and does not care about student learning at all.
Rob likes to say "YEAH"~ Class was okay. What you need to do is copy down all the notes he provides since 99% of the test materials are from the notes, so you shouldnt miss any class. Once you got all the notes and study from them you will be fine! Quiz are easy and straightforward, but term exams are a bit challenging.
So much notes (at least 2 full pages single space) and little explanation. test is misleading OMG! really consider when taking his course. he is a nice guy though, that's all the positive thing i can say.
Rob is kinda strange. good teacher though. lots of notes which i like. class is about 90% notes 10% him talking. tests and quizzes based off of the notes in class. very little from textbook. if you can't make it to class or find someone to copy notes off of don't take him. good guy overall.
Everything is from his notes, if you study the text and its diff from his notes, DON'T USE THE TEXTBOOK ANSWER! Quizzes/Tests are not hard, but tricky as hell lol. So go to class, and copy notes.
--A Portrait of an Economist: Rob Scharff, Passion, Love, Excitement.-- "Yeah" Scharff understands the opportunity costs of owning and maintaining a vehicle and finds them too high. The economist is a man who takes public transit on the way to class and runs home. Scharff is in peak physical condition and will never get sick. Awesome guy.

if you're planning to study economics in long term, do not take this prof. his class is very boring. and we rarely uses the textbook. everything is from his notes. n he writes everything on the board. (like paragraphs). he does'nt seem to understand there's something called "point form".
such an easy teacher. quizzes and exams are straight from his notes, pretty much verbatium. I am lazy and i came out with "B". Really nice guy but could use more energy in class.
Good teacher for an intro course because he goes at a slow pace to ensure everyone understands( which some may find boring if they took the course before). everything you need for exams are in his notes. I never open the textbook in his class. Also a nice guy!

Decent prof, the first 2 midterms and 2 quizzes are all based on the notes espically the multiple choice, and the short answers are somewhat ok , as they are based on class discussed examples and notes, but the final was the only hard test as he says its accumulative, but its totally from the last couple of chapter
Robert is a nice Prof. Class attendance is somewhat necessary as his teaching style is mainly Lots and lots of notes. Exams and quizzes are literally from his notes. No Homework so studying for his exams are all you have to do probably. Enjoyed with him 2 great semesters.
Well, as long as you studied his notes carefully, you would be fine with this course; but I have to say lots of notes make the class really boring and tiring. It is not a hard course but not interesting.
There is wayyyy too much writing in this class. Most of the class is spent writing notes and there isn't a lot of verbal lecture. His exams are pretty much straight from his notes but still very tricky with the wording. He is a friendly guy but it isnt the easiest class in terms if getting a high GPA.
he is a great teacher. he keeps us copying the notes for the whole class,some people think its kinda boring, but u will get his points as long as you understand.
We could play jeopardy games, point games that test our knowledge on the material. This will enhance the student experience motivate people to come and not just learn but also have fun and play! I know another professor who does that with teaching a dry and boring course. It would be nice if Robert did that too.
A very easy prof! He isn't interesting or really helpful, but his class is simple. Don't buy a textbook, everything is from his notes. He gives pop-quizzes which are not for marks which help u evaluate how u are doing. I would recommend this prof for an easy mark!

Extremely easy class. Lots of notes in class. Some people might think it's boring but it's actually a chill class to take. No homework, only 2 quizzes, 2 midterms and a final exam. all are from notes! Study hard on your notes and you will get good mark. Some questions might be tricky. take it and it will help you GPA!

This guys personality is actually quite funny. He doesnt talk at all, pretty much all writing notes on his overhead. he says yea alot in a wierd voice. Class is boring AF but relatively easy and never any surprises. 100% note taking.
He is not a great professor. Its always notes and its a very boring class, but it is a chill class. He does not teach the concepts very well and sometimes I have no idea what he is talking about. I would be there are better econ professors.
DO NOT take him. He is so boring, and he decreased my GPA. His notes are clear but he does not explain the concepts well at all. EVERYTHING is memorization. All the quizzes, midterms and finals are cumulative. Too much memorization without a good foundation. Don't take him!
Don't take him. Not many in the class respects him because he is not a good teacher. The class is very boring, and although you don't do much, it will bite you in the butt during the quizzes, midterms and finals. Also, everything is accumulative, including quizzes and midterms. This is not a GPA booster, and can possibly lower your grade.
Took notes off the overhead the entire semester long. No homework just cumulative quizzes, tests, midterms, and final. I mostly just studied his notes but a little text reading was needed in the end. Overall pretty easy class, but don't think it's easy enough to not ever open the book.
Great prof, he summarized all the materials FOR YOU in his own notes, easy to read and follow. Pay attention when he does explanations, attend every lecture then you don't need to spend any time outside class. tests/quiz are super easy/fair

really great teacher, you only need to read the note. the QUIZ and term test is so easy. i have also taking 1250 with him. PS: you do not need to read the book, so you can choose to buy or not.
I used the textbook once, and i got an A in the class. As long as you show up, take the notes, and study and understand the notes, you'll get an A for sure. I do see students who struggle, but they are usually the ones who skip dont take the notes down. Tests and quizzes are okay, and based mostly off notes and your understanding
