What Students Say
“I like this profs' online class better than his in-person class because no one will waste your time, you do not have to focus on unnecessary/off topic things that are not related to the lecture in a 2 hour class, you can focus on the more important information mentioned in the textbook to help you better prepare for the quizzes and get a good grade”
202 - 3.0 rating“If you are a person who is focused/ambitious, doesn't want to waste any time and just wants to be in a class that just focuses on talking about the important topics, concepts and information mentioned in your textbooks to help you prepare really well for the test and get a really good grade, then take his online class and not in person class”

Awesome teacher. Very nice, clear, and helpful. Doesn't give boring lectures. He always tells you what you need to know for the test, no surprises! Participate, take notes, study, and you'll pass the class. Definitely recommend him as a professor!
This guy is amazing! He was the BEST professor I had last summer. He literally made my summer. I always look for him teaching other classes and it looks like he is only teaching American Government, which is a total injustice to students who learned well with him!!! He has so much knowledge to share! Liberal, and a riot!
hes awesome
Out of every professor I have had at Pierce College he has been the best. He's always there for you and has a gracious way about him that doesn't make you want to take advantage of him, but do better. I recommend he knows his stuff too!
Nicest guy in the world
Really enjoyed him. A very understanding and genuine person. He is liberal, but he has a very clear way of not letting that interfere with others beliefs and you are always invited to have a conversation with him. You can't help but like the guy, and if you take one of his courses you will know why.
Best prof I've ever had. Cares that we learn, and is willing to change up assignments to something people are more interested to. If you care, he cares.
I was never interested in government until I took this class. He is passionate about politics, has a lot of knowledge and experience. If you participate the class is more fun! He really cares about students and makes you realize how important it is to be involved in politics. You will wish there was a Pols203. I highly recommend him!
Professor Stevens is great, he is very enthusiastic about student success and is willing to help his students to achieve their best, in not only his class but also in all the classes that they are taking. Two things that made the class difficult was the lack of explanation on assignments, as well as the confusing set up on the student/teacher site
He is an amazing Professor! I was not looking forward to the College Success class but he made it a great quarter! He is incredibly open to students views and beyond respectful of students! I really hope to get to take a Poli Sci class with him!
This class is an easy A, but by no means a fluff class. Your grade primarily comes from participation, as he HATES tests. If you enjoy discussion on history, politics, and philosophy, this is the professor for you. If you are interested in a career in politics, he will even help get you connections to get you started. Open-minded and accepting.
By far my favorite class, I wish I had taken his classes to start with, as I have now filled my credits in that area ): Nearly every day we have a group discussion, and it's much more fun if you participate as well! He trusts his students to not cheat in any form, and to not skip class/ use phones, until someone gives him the reason not to.
Alright so let me start, His lectures are pretty pointless but being in class help clarify some topics. He is a liberal but open to other points of view and won't grade you down for arguing, he encourages it. Definitely would take again.
This teacher was great! He never gave a real test. Instead of a midterm or a final, he gave an easy project. His one big requirement if you expect to get a good grade is participation. He has many class discussions where he brings up topics, and then asks the class to give there views on them. Honesty+Participation100% in this class.
Basically, if you communicate with him on anything going on in your life that would get in the way with school work, he's super understanding! Amazing guy, extraordinary professor and I'm sad the quarter is over. Mine was hybrid and he had a decent amount of homework, quiz every week but they are not timed. DON'T MISS OUT!! TAKE HIS CLASS!!
A terrific dude. Really cares about his students success. You don't need to show up everyday... but you should.
Rob's class is very enjoyable. The in class discussions were always way better than what we were supposed to be talking about out of the book. There is plenty of extra credit opportunity, sometimes just for showing up to class. Definitely an easy A.
There were a couple quizzes which were easy and he gives you the answers to review the day before . Many chances of extra credit. 2 big projects that allow you to put in a lot of work and thought but lets you be creative. More of a discussion happy teacher and allows you to think openly and help to expand your mind. Cares a lot about his students!
Rob is amazing. He's super chill and caring towards his students. If I could have him as a professor for more classes I totally would. Unfortunately, that's not possible for the program I'm going into :(
Professor Stevens is an amazing instructor! Highly recommend him for any class he offers.
He's an amazing teacher that just wants to help his students succeed. Taking his political science class next quarter and he is an amazing mentor. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. He doesn't make us do half of the work that is usually assigned for the class. Easy A and I recommend the 5 credit.
Mr. Stevens definitely made the class a lot more bearable. He had a lot of funny stories to tell and truly listened to students. A bit disorganized at times, but overall, enjoyable and an easy course to pass.
Very passionate about his work, very clear on questions. Clearly covers quizzes and assignments. No ideas are wrong! Just think ,participate and you'll do great!
Rob is super in depth and gives students complete respect on their opinions
Rob is a terrific professor and cares about his work and his students. He's always willing to listen to all points of view and explain them, while remaining passionate about his ideas.
He is a fantastic professor who actually cares about his students. He really takes time to answer any and all questions which was refreshing. Definitely recommend his class
Great guy, decent teacher. I took his hybrid political science class, so it was mostly a lot of online homework. Super easy A though. Wouldn't take him again because he is kind of biased in his teaching, which is hard in a political class.
Professor Stevens is the best profesor at Pierce College. He is extremely welcoming, and let's you express yourself however you want. He cares about his students so much, and he really is there for you if you need him. The class is easy, mine was hybrid. All discussions, quizzes, and one final presentation. Ended with a 102%. He's the best!
This class may very well be the easiest 4.0 to earn on campus. Show up and you earn the majority of points for the quarter. Rob is extremely liberal, and his liberal opinions were consistently pushed on the class. It was kind of a bummer to take an international studies class with him; not once was a topic covered without his views interfering.
Rob isn't a bad professor at all, he's a very understanding and caring person but i would never take him again unless i absolutely have to... you will be reading ALOT and the due dates for the 2 weekly quizzes are so inconsistent that its hard to keep up and know what you need to do unless you look at it 3 times a day. This class was a waste to me.
Easily one of the best professors I have ever had. He is an amazing teacher, and even in his hybrid class, he was available often and was always willing to keep in contact with his students. His stories are great to listen to, and his lectures are really interesting. The projects in class are fun, I would HIGHLY recommend this class as a hybrid.
super cool professor, really enjoyed the class and he encouraged me to join a few humanitarian clubs which i ended up enjoying and taking an interest in.
College success is so boring, but Rob is hilarious and is probably the only reason I showed up for the majority of the class. Overall, Rob's great, and if I was able to take real class with him, I definitely would!
These comments about rob being biased are inaccurate. He expresses his political views and ENCOURAGES everybody to do the same and is excepting of EVERY opinion with ZERO judgment and genuinely loves hearing different point of views. great caring professor, 110% knowledgeable in his field.
Rob is overall a hilarious professor. He was the only reason i enjoyed listening to politics since I'm not a fan of that subject. He also encourages students to standing up for themselves, even if he doesn't agree with the subject. If you need a class in political science, I'd recommend him to anyone.
Professor Stevens is like the most down to earth guy ever. He is super nice and easy to work with. Some people said that his views get into the way of his teachings, but I never thought that throughout the quarter. The only bad thing about him is he is a little slow on grading stuff. But other than that, he was really good.
Rob is one of most caring and compassionate professors on campus. His lectures are mostly on American Govt (House Committees/Senate, etc) and he could work on elaborating those a bit more but overall when he brings up discussions it makes time fly and provides a fun environment to share ideas. Participate or else you'll be bored. Passed w/ a 4.0
Rob is the coolest guy, so laid back yet informative! A class youll want to go to!! I took pols as a hybrid and Id highly recommend!
He had a lot of good material to teach. Very funny, and amazing stories.
Took this professor as a political science teacher. usually, I don't do well in two-hour classes but his lectures are so amazing. he tends to get off topic a bit but its always engaging. lots of opportunities for extra credit!!
He's really good at explaining what he teaches about and is very good at offering other explanations if you don't understand. He really takes time to make sure that everybody understands the concept. Rob is a very nice guy and makes sure that every opinion and perspective is heard respectfully.
Easy 4.0, don't really think I learned much, but it was easy and lightened the load of my other classes. He's very nice and seems caring. Didn't feel as though our class was a priority at all, and canvas is very disorganized and slow grader
Rob is really laid back, the class is an easy A. I for one, am not very interested in American Gov, but he made the class fun and interesting! We stopped using the textbook around the second week. We had one quiz, one essay, and a final project. Pretty easy grader too. Again, recommend for an easy A!
Class was very straight forward. You learn a lot and Rob truly cares. Grading criteria was clear. Only complaint would be that it takes time for grades. Fun class overall.
HE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Great college success professor, even better PolySci professor.
Hes an amazing professor. Definitely my favorite by far. Super chill and is an advocate for student rights.
He is wonderful. He is the best professor ever! You should take him. He is interesting and respectful and cares about your grade.
Really good Professor makes a really boring class fun.
Some quizzes and discussions were posted last minute and orginization of class was pretty messy, the quiz dates were also inconsistent. Sometimes he puts out a sign up sheet if not many people show up, coming to class wasn't quite important since his lectures are based off the book. Discussions weren't even graded till the end of the quarter.
You would honestly have to try and fail his courses. He sets students up for success and puts students needs in the front of his priorities. There is no reason you should not receive a 4.0 in his class
Rob gets very distracted and barely teaches any content on the subject. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed but doesn't really assign anything. We had a mid-term paper and a presentation at the end of the quarter but he gave you 100% just for doing it. If you're looking for an easy A, take one of his courses.
He really cares that the students all understand the material outside of just what the textbook says. Also all the answers to his weekly quizzes are on quizlet so if you do the discussion post every week it's an easy A.
This was my second time taking him, and I highly recommend taking him. He is a 10/10 professor and wants everyone to do their best and to learn. I got out of his class with about 110%. He wants everyone to succeed, but he is not afraid to call you out in the middle of class.
Rob is a great professor, really cares about his students and their success inside and outside of his class. Rob made political science interesting and more enjoyable to learn. Highly recommend!
Rob is a amazing professor. He really wants you to pass his class, so as long as you turn in work and pay attention which is easy because hes hilarious, you'll do fine. Good amount of homework, but nothing to bad. I recommend taking him for sure!!
AMAZING professor! I took his hybrid class so there was a good amount of homework but it was easy and quick. He tells lots of stories and cares sooo much for every single student and wants the best for you! I loved him so much that I'm taking another class in his next quarter. BEST TEACHER EVER :)
Rob is the easiest teacher that I've had at Pierce College. I had him for college 110 and he would go through and take off a bunch of assignments every week that he thought wouldn't be worth our time. Would definitely take him for another course.
COLLG110 has often been described as a "waste of time that could be summarized in a 30 min. tour." With Professor Rob this was the furthest from the truth. From day one it was clear that he genuinely wanted each one of us to succeed and was committed to helping us do so. He is very understanding and accommodating (although not the most organized).
'Rob' was one of those professors that I wouldn't take personally again. I know a lot of students loved him because he was very student-oriented, easy, and laid back. But he also wasted class time telling stories and gave terrible life advice. I took his College Success, but his true passion is Political Science, and it shows.
Rob Stevens. This is the professor that you wish you could take over and over. Always advocating for students and is not afraid to voice his opinions. Consistent grader. Good communication.
Took Rob for POL220 as a hybrid course. Weekly workload outside of class was reading about 30 pages, easy online discussion based on opinions, and online tests which are super easy when using sources (as he allows). Super caring and fun professor! Would totally recommend to take him!
He really cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He is super chill and easy to talk to. Hes a great teacher to take for any class.
Prof. Stevens is an extremely understanding professor with a lot of life experience in the subjects he teaches. His class is very easy with very few assignments, there was just a presentation at the end that was the hardest (even then it is very easy). Hearing his knowledge on these subjects really changed my perspective on many things. 100/10.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Take a class from Rob if you get the chance! He truly cares about each one of his students' success and is always there if you have a question or need help.
No lectures, just read the textbook (you can find it online for free). Professor Stevens' class is pretty easy. There's just a discussion and a quiz every week. Discussions are worth 50 points and quizzes are worth 25.
Since the class was online I didnt get to really get to know him but the format of the class was super clean and it was actually super interesting. Every week is the same so it becomes a habit and its easy to remember when things are due.
This is one of the best professors at Pierce! I took Rob for College Success and Political Science 202 in 2019 and I finished with over 100% in both classes. As long as you do the assignments and show up, you will pass. Do all the extra credit he offers!!
Prof. Stevens was truly mediocre. He assigns a medium amount of work, but his grading standard and rubrics are not clear. Sadly, he does not grade much of anything until the end of the quarter. The amount of reading/videos to watch varies from week to week. Mr. Stevens did not reach out to his students once. Could just be online, but... be prepared
Professor Stevens was pretty nice and responsive to emails. The class structure is the same every week with reading, discussion boards, and quizzes. He takes a long time to grade assignments but is a very fair grader. I recommend him if you want an easy A.
Each week there are some readings, a discussion, and a quiz. There are several opportunities for extra credit. The final paper is the only required essay.
Every week there was a discussion and a quiz. The work was straightforward, and all the answers to the quiz were in the book. This class was fairly easy and was not stressful at all.
The class should be hybrid because the Professor does not go over every important info in the lecture. He leaves the lecture uncompleted and skips a lot of info in the lecture which is on the power points he provides. He is funny, and his knowledge in political science is on point/professional but goes off topic once in a while.
Fricking Awesome Professor in the whole school. He is super hilarious, super caring/supportive, he really understands you and is really kind. I don't think I can find a better political science professor than him and honestly there is no better political science professor than him. He is super helpful and replies fast to your emails as well.
Professor Stevens is awesome and cool.He is very funny and gives good examples that sum up all the important information on the lecture. He quiz style is very organized and easy to access/submit. He even made the final project your own choice ,like you get to choose in what format you want to submit a project at the end of the quarter as your finals
I thoroughly enjoyed professor stevens class and I would take any class taught by him in a heartbeat. He talks about personally things in this class and get vulnerable about it which is really helpful to see another outside perspective. I loved this class and 10/10 recommend it to everyone.
If you are a person who is focused/ambitious, doesn't want to waste any time and just wants to be in a class that just focuses on talking about the important topics, concepts and information mentioned in your textbooks to help you prepare really well for the test and get a really good grade, then take his online class and not in person class.
I like this profs' online class better than his in-person class because no one will waste your time, you do not have to focus on unnecessary/off topic things that are not related to the lecture in a 2 hour class, you can focus on the more important information mentioned in the textbook to help you better prepare for the quizzes and get a good grade
Prof Stevens I deeply appreciate you sharing your personal thoughts and opinions about personal things mentioned in class. I feel happy when I hear your biases because it inspired me to create my own. They helped me understand how you think (which I also thought was severely cool).Being honest about them would have made the experience much better.
I had prof. Stevens (Rob) for an in-person class. I personally really enjoyed it. At times it did go off-topic, but I didn't mind. You can feel free to speak your mind in his class, even if it doesn't align with his beliefs. It is very lecture heavy and debate is encouraged, but honestly, you can just show up and get an A. It was easy, but fun.
Gave a weekly quiz and discussion, plus a final essay. Very easy with grading and gives motivational feedback. Had a couple of extra credit assignments.
Took this class for my civics credit- Rob is super kind and very understanding to any problems. He is worried about you succeeding! He can be slow to grade and answer messages, but it was never a problem for me.
The "college success" class is obviously going to be boring. Aside from the weird group project we did, this class could not have been easier. I hated the content but he really made it as easy as possible. Highly recommend.
Side note, I am a running start student but took POL101. Stevens is very caring, he gives great feedback also very understanding. One thing I would say is that I sent him one message the entire quarter but he never got back to me. All I would say do the discussion boards and finish the abt 20pg chapters each week.
Lots of extra credit, 1 quiz and discussion a week, and gave good feedback. Lectures were usually interesting with personal examples. Going to class and participating is graded and worth a good amount of points!
Professor Stevens was a kind professor. He was a slow grader but very flexible. If you need credit or a class requirement take him!!!
around 10 assignments for the whole quarter, very small discussions and quizzes. Good class to take for non political science majors!
His online class was very easy, simple, and overall straight to the point. There's only a quiz every week, along with the weekly discussion. You will have to rely heavily on the book for those who don't know or keep up with politics. But otherwise, there are plenty of opportunities to get extra credit, which is really nice to have.
He's very easygoing. Had him once a week for lectures. They were boring but can be helpful if you're lost. Few assignments; one discussion & quiz per week. Relies heavily on textbook. Gives LOTSSSS of extra credits though. Also an easy grader. I absolutely hate political science and history but he made it somewhat enjoyable.
