Genuinely nice guy, but don't take this class expecting to learn a lot. Midterm was easy, but final was surprisingly challenging. It was hard for me to understand the material because I was never asked to present homework, do projects, etc.

It really is a coast with trost. I attended two classes and got a 95 on the midterm. I went to 2 discussions, which are not mandatory because he doesn't do group quizzes anymore. He now does a homework assignment every week called aplia which is not hard and you can work on it with a whole group of people. I forget sometimes that I'm taking econ.

Prof. Trost means well, and yes, it is easy, but I LOVED econ before i took his class, and he's totally killed it for me. If you want to learn something valuable, do not take this class. If you just want to get rid of a req, this is a good one.

It's not "coast with Trost" like everyone says - you really do have to study and try on the homework! However, I got a D on the midterm and still got an A- in the class because he doesn't count the midterm if you do better on the final. I'd recommend him over another, but don't depend on an easy A without putting in some work.

They say "Coast with Trost" but if you are not actually interested in this topic and don't make the effort to learn on your own or to get help outside of the class, it will not be easy. His lectures are a waste of time because he's always talking off topic, and he puts it all up on blackboard anyway.

There are 'Aplia' online homework assignments which arent too crazy and there is a midterm and final. he allows 1 page of notes for the midtermn and 2 pgs for the final!

Prof. Trost is unclear and uninterested. As said before, good for completing a requirement, not for majors. It IS necessary to read the book and look over Aplia, but lectures are a huge waste of time. Trost is the man! His lectures are very concise but are based directly off the power points he posts online. There are bi-weekly online assignments that are very easy if you do any of the following: read the book, go to class, or read the powerpoints. The midterm and final are both multiple choice with 18 and 27 questions respectively AND you get to type a legal cheat sheet! You learn a great deal and arent the slightest bit miserable doing it. TA's are phenomenal but discussion is optional.
