He's really hard but tries to make class interesting.
A very helpful professor. Math is verrry difficult for me and I had an easier time in his class than I had anticipated. Has a good personality to boot.
He makes math interesting and that's an accomplishment =)
Excellent teacher, very personable and funny.
Mr. Tuskey's easy approach to the subject is designed for even the average student to get a better grade. Go to class, do the inclass and homework assignments, ask questions, and you can't get anything but a good grade. Painless
Not as good in hard classes as easy
Don't take someone else if you can take Tuskey. Excellent.
Mr. Tuskey is a great teacher. His approach couldn't be more straight-forward and fair. He often mentions the real-world applications the material has. Of course it's generally only relevant for computer/technical people-- I found his asides quite interesting.
He was a great teacher. I totally recommend him for any math class that you have to take. He is so funny and cute.
Facilitator for on-line college aglebra. Assignments clear. No surprises on tests. Good support on blackboard, email, and office. Recommended.

His jokes are lame but i giggle occasionally!!! could he talk any faster! sometimes he goes off on random **** and totally loses my interest ;(
Great teacher. Offers a practice test that's in the same format as the actual test. He can be hard to understand and his jokes are sort of funny but he teaches math in a way that's helpful to most students. He likes to give funny faces to the class after a problem for some reason.
he is one of the best professor in jjc, he is cool, smart and always willing to help take him,...............it suck because he is not teaching math 131 in the fall, it will be alot better if i have him
He may be a good teacher in class, but do not take him as an online course instructor. He graded riduculous on the tests.

He did an amazing job teaching calculus 1 during summer school, even though it was one of the least ideal times during the day. He completely resparked my love for math!!
Awesome guy and awesome professor. I was just about the only person who thought his corny jokes were funny, so I enjoyed his sense of humor too. I'd take him again if he teaches any future math classes I need because he's cool.
I am not a math person. Tusky made this class very easy to understand. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
really great guy and his jokes are corny but funny sometimes makes things really easy to understand
Best Calc teacher at JJC
he was a very engaging guy, who obviously loves his work. He does his best to lighten up the classroom atmosphere, and will go out of his way to help your understanding. Homework assignments helpful and relevant. None of his tests are multiple choice, but he'll give you credit for showing your work even if you get the answer wrong. Love the guy!
Take Him. Explains everything great. Little quarky at time but it keeps you interested. Highly recomended
I took him over summer school for calc 1 and loved him. Since its calc, you need to go to class and do some of the hw, but if you study for the tests its not a bad class. Mr Tuskey was an awesome teacher and Im upset I wont be able to take him for Calc 2. If you get the chance to take Tuskey, I definitely recommend it.
Excellent teacher, good sense of humor too.
Great teacher, keeps the mood light and fun! I would take him for stats if I could, he was very helpful and understanding when I had problems! And I HATE Math!! I got a B but he made it easy!
i love this guy he keeps us up at 8 in the morning hes got jokes.
He has the best sense a humor. Having a math class early in the morning is NEVER fun but he really tries. Everything is pretty straight forward and you really shouldn't have a problem if you take notes, ask questions when needed, and actually study for the test.
I had him for precal 1...he ROCKED..He has a definite fan club at JJC...just ask around..everyone recommends Tuskey. You have to put in the time..but he's accessible and helpful and he is funny too! Teaches what you need for tests and offers extra credit! I wish he taught more math there!!!!
He is a good teacher and if you practice and do h.w. it will be an easy class. But sometimes he teaches to you if you were another math professor and it can be annoying. But he does have a great sense of humor and is willing to help.
Explains things well.If you need extra help he is willing to stay after class. Few extra credit opportunities. Exams are not multiple choice and you have to show step by step work-gives half points! Gives study guides. Attendance is a must.
AWESOME TEACHER!HIGHLY RECOMMEND.TEACHES EVERYTHING STEP BY STEP AND AT A PACE TO WHERE EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE.OH YEAH BTW, HE LOVES MATH.A LOT.I'VE NEVER SEEN SOMEONE SO EXUBERATED ABOUT MATH.LOL.
Great Study Guides
Great teacher, knows his math. i really wish he was teaching precalc 138. thats o.k i'll see him when i get to calculus!
Very helpful - fast paced but excellent instructor
Well prepared - goes over lots of examples - starts class off by going over any problems from past lessons - works with the class on pace - fast paced - but excellent instructor
Tuskey is an awesome math teacher..I struggle in Math but he made it possible for me to get an A. He is fast pace during class, but he makes sure to cover all the material that you will see on Tests. He is very organized and I highly recommend him.
Great teacher! Talks quickly, so make sure you're a quick note taker. Assignments were non-mandatory. Tests were fairly easy. Able to miss classes and still keep up. Highly recommended.
He is such a good teacher. Subject terrible but he is awesome. If you gotta take math he is your guy. Gives out study guides from book and the test will mirror it. Do need to do exercies he assigns (even tho he dosen collect it)it narrows ur studying. Says cheesey jokes but they good ones. He will help out alot so dont be afraid to ask questions!
Excellent, just Excellent. Test are based off of what you cover in class. All topics are discussed at length and are fully understood. Grades fairly.
tuskey is the booomb! :) He's really helpful & has a great sense of humor! he gives study guides for everything & theres never a surprise on tests & quizzes. If you know what you're doing on the study guides, you'll do good on the tests! he gives practice problems every lesson & answers questions the following class. only some hw. TAKE HIM!!!
Let me tell you, anyone who takes Calculus knows the class can be hard, but Tuskey definitely made things easier. The difficulty of the class is up to the student, Tuskey does all he can to make it simple. If you actually keep up in class, it should be an easy A.
He truly is a great teacher he explain things very well and simplifies it so its understandable. Everything on the study guide is what is on the tests. I took the summer course and there was 5 exams and 4 quizzes. Super easy.
tuskey is awesome! a real down to earth guy. he actually likes teaching and likes to joke a lot. i would recomend taking him for sure!
greatest math teacher i've ever had! has crystal clear notes and goes step by step for every problem! Can't get better than Tuskey!
I've taken Calculus twice - once at UofI and once at JJC. Tuskey knows how to explain EVERYTHING in simple, understandable language - even the most difficult stuff. Excellent teacher. I highly recommend taking his class.
Tuskey is my favorite math teacher I have had ever. I took him for Math 131 & Math 138. He is detailed for everything and I have never had a problem with him. He makes the learning easy not the work (its not hard though). I wish ALL of my teachers were as awesome as him!! Id learn much more and actually pay attention in all my classes :P
I have taken him before and I am currently taking him again. Honestly, if I could have a teacher like him for every subject College would be fan-freaking-tastic. He explains everything and is more than willing to help with any problem you do not understand. He does not hand out A's, but it is not difficult to get one since he helps you understand!
Tuskey is awesome! I had him for two semesters and I would not have had it any other way. He is very clear and his tests are fair if you complete the exercises he assigns you. I highly recommend him!
hes a really nice guy and loves what he does. Hes kind of funny and wants you to do well and doesnt mind helping and answering questions. I didnt find his in class notes to be of much help tho so i was basicly teaching myself but hes a nice guy
I found his class to be very easy. He gives most formulas on tests and seems very willing to explain things to students.
I maintained a 3.4 GPA prior to taking this class. Taking his class online was the biggest mistake of my academic career. Tuskey never gave back tests to show what you did wrong. Average respond time to a email - 6 days. He was often rude if you asked a question he felt was beneath him. Find another teacher if possible.
not the best teacher. he is not very helpful and his quizzes are very hard. Htoo fast through the material.i reccomend not taking his class.
Prof. Tuskey is SUCH a great teacher! He is very helpful with any questions you have; in class and online. He also post videos to help review the chapters you go over, which is a very helpful tool. You DO have to work hard because Calculus is difficult, but he makes it so much easier than I thought it would be. His test are hard, so not an easy A.
Robert is a very great teacher! Made everything simple to understand and is always there to help you. He gives you great notes, so take them down! Homework is not mandatory but it will help you do well on the quizzes/exams. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he's more than happy to explain anything!
I had him for an online class and I just wasted my money and time. He does not directly answer an questions and exams consist of questions based on how he did an example opposed to how the textbook teaches and if you followed the book you are simply wrong despite the correct answer and work. He is rude and full of himself, wish I would've dropped
Horrible teacher! attended class regularly & took all notes down. Followed his instructions and still got at D. His final was nothing like the study guide. I asked questions and he didnt answer them correctly. fist and last math class i ever failed!
He is a good teacher and very clear. He is a great teacher and makes Calculus very understandable.
This teacher was really hard at first. Then he started to become easier in the middle of the semester so people can like him. Then he made the final have everything that he said wasn't on it and the whole class did bad so he made the final be half the points but it still ruined my grade I had for most of the semester. Overall don't take him.
Teaching style is sporadic and hard to understand. He makes easy material seem impossible. The only reason I passed this class is because I spent my entire semester in the math lab with tutors. He has a high rating because of his stats classes,DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR 098. He is also the only Math professor that doesn't have a multiple choice final exam
Great professor! Explains well whether it is online or in person. Extremely fair grader, and the better you do, the more leniently he grades you! 100% recommend him! Guaranteed A!
I strongly don't recommend him! The tests are extremely hard and he doesn't give any credit for the work, strictly the answer and the tests are never multiple choice, not even the final exam! He doesn't check hw or give any sort of extra credit. If you're not that good at algebra you will struggle
He is not very respectful to his students to begin with. I had a problem in the first week of class and he bit my head off for asking for help. He is a very untimely grader, we had test about every two weeks and he would take 4-5 days to grade your assignments with minimal feedback. Finally, he doesn't cover all the material he will be testing.
hot. super hot
He speaks very fast through lectures. He can be very clear, but if you blink you might get lost. The notes that he gives are all online after he gives the lecture. I spent quite a bit of time in the tutoring center.
Not the greatest at helping to clarify questions. He runs on about sections but never really elaborate on how he got the answer.
Let me just say that if you are horrible in math like I am, I recommend you don't take this professor. He's a nice guy, but it's very difficult to understand him or his way of thinking. You won't get it. As hard as you may say you will, you won't. I had to drop the class bc I simply couldn't do it.
Friendly, considerate, and very smart. Tests ALWAYS based on exercises given. If you can do those, you can ace the test. Simple as that. Notation heavy but that's how math is. Minimal hw and gives several opportunities to improve test grades. If not passing it's because you are weak on past math skills or are not practicing enough. Excellent prof.
IF YOU ARE NOT 100% PERFECT AT MATH, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PROF! he has his own way of teaching so all math you've learned in the past is useless. solves problems, but doesn't teach or explain the steps to solve them. easily one of the worst professors ive ever had.
Professor Tuskey is unique. His lectures are often hard to follow due to his rapid speech. He'll often stop and ask, "Any questions?" But everyone just sits in silence because trying to keep up with him pointless. However, I can say that he genuinely is a nice guy and a fair teacher when it comes to grades. If you're a good student, you'll be fine.
He's the best calc professor to choose because of the minimal hw and tests that are always based on exercises or study guides. However, he speaks very fast so it's hard to keep up. I had to learn everything outside of class since I found it useless to try to understand his vague and fast lectures. He's not as good at teaching as some claim.
Professor Tuskey is unique. His tests are always based on the given problems he assigns for each section. The assigned homework is never graded or turned in, simply there to help the good student to study. However, I can say that he genuinely is a nice guy and a fair teacher when it comes to grades. If you're a good student, you'll be fine.
Took Tuskey for Calc 1, 2, 3, and Diff EQ. Awesome teacher. I'd take him again in a heartbeat. All notes are done on his tablet through the projector and posted online. Tests: some hard, some easy. Most tests are based on his lectures, not HW problems. Some problems were exact examples from class. The higher up you go, he takes it easier on you.
Prof. Tuskey is a great Math teacher. He teaches most content on the level any student could understand, and his lecturing schedule remains fairly consistant. His grading is also very clear and can be generous due to partial credit given. He is also very acessible through online use of iCampus and email. He also posts lecture notes online.
I took Prof. Tuskey's online calculus I. class. If you struggle with math; the online calculus is NOT for you. You need to be very diligent to pass this class and extremely hard-working if you wish to get an A. He is willing to help you in his office hours and through the discussion boards. Do NOT get behind; you are not able to recover from it!
This guy was really nice and respectful! He didnt just show us how to do the problems he looked at them and tried to solve them with the class instead of copying his notes. As for grading he ALWAYS gave me the benefit of the doubt which was awesome. I think calc 2 would have been a super hard class if he wasnt my professor
Took him for calculus II and III, got an A for both and he was amazing. Always taught really well and always threw in some comedic dad jokes every now and then to make the lectures more interesting. He had a break in the middle of every class so everyone could stretch and get some water before starting the next lecture. Highly recommend him!
Classes with Tuskey are very smooth and easy going. Homework is not heavy and guidelines are very clear. He makes a lot of dry jokes that make class enjoyable he is a great guy. The lectures are great because he takes notes on a surface and does examples and posts it all online for everyone to see and use. Highly recommend.
I would recommend not taking this Professor if you do not perfectly understand math. He grades only tests and quizzes and did not use MyMathLab. The homework is only in the book. He focuses more on getting through the tests than providing another way of teaching the material.
Mr. T was a very easy going and a smooth teaching professor. I really enjoyed taking his class and he makes everything easy to understand! 10/10 recommend taking him.
Robert "TuskGod" Tuskey was a solid math professor. 100% recommend taking him for the calculus sequence. He may go fast at times, but he is conscious of this and he makes a genuine effort to explain it the easiest way possible if you miss it the first time. He is one of my favorite professors that I have taken in regards to mathematics and JJC.
Has a very straight forward teaching plan. Most of the things he goes over will show up directly on tests. He won't leave you guessing on what may be on the test. However, sometimes it can be challenging to ask questions on homework. He also gives you a few "coupons" such as a take home test or extra credit opportunities.
I took his online calc 1 and thought he did as good of a job as you could with the given circumstances. Every section had a screen cast along with a few examples that coincide with the tests directly. He had discussion boards that were great for getting the proper notation before the test. Overall a great pick.
This teacher is amazing. 100% recommend him for calculus. All of his examples are like whats on the test except with different numbers. Hes very helpful and will answer any and all questions. He has a great personality, I wouldve passed his class with an A but professor David McQuire ruined my grade the first half of the semester. Best prof eva
Undoubtedly a genius, but left a terrible impression. Sent him an email one day which I saw no Issue with, but he responded back telling me to use english. Being hispanic in a racist society right now, reading that hurt. I realize that Hes just picky with grammar. I needed this class to transfer so i sucked it up. Dreaded that class.
Took tuskey this summer online 2020. Gave the material we needed and am happy with my ability. He gave us opportunity for live lectures to ask literally anything we needed. You don't know what you had until it's gone. I got another professor because I registered early and didn't see that he was going to be teaching calc 2. Wish I had him for calc 2
Very good professor was nervous about taking calculus but he made it clear what we needed to do and passed the class. Smart, friendly guy
Very smart person and always willing to help. Calc is challenging but as someone who's not the best at math I passed with an A because he teaches you everything you need to know. Take him no matter what
Very specific on uploading assignments. Video lectures were very helpful. No quizzes, just homework and exams. You can ask him to go over any problem, including homework, during his online office hours. He really cares about proficiency and doing the problems by the book. We also had one extra credit opportunity.
Tuskey was really great. Very specific for how things aught to be done, but with good reason, the way things were done were standard for calc 2 and onwards. The pacing and structuring of the class was possibly the best I have ever witnessed for an online course. The lectures provided exactly everything that one needed to know and why one needed it.
I took CollegeAlg at Valencia College with him. The textbook is actually all online through mylab. He doesn't assign a crazy amount of hw. There are a total of 5 tests with the final, if you attend most of his lectures and take notes you should do fine. Using the lecture notes and the study guides to prepare for the exams will be a lifesaver.
