He is a great professor. One of my 3 fave
He is a great teacher. You can tell that he geniunly likes to teach, and cares about his students. I learned a lot from his class.
i think hes awesome! but the class can get very repetitive and very boring, other than that he is very cool and very easy going, expect a great grade but mostly a boring class, but he is very nice!
BORING !! good teacher just very boring and gave entirely to many articles and mini-projects, Just felt like he was giving us something to do to fill up his time .
Boring, boring boring class. He is really nice and tries to make the class interesting but its pretty much common sense and not interesting. He does give alot of mini projects as well as the big team projects but he's helpful nice and its honestly an easy A
Amazing professor. Working with a team can get annoying, but you get what you put in. You learn about yourself a lot, and how you work with others. I'd take it over.
he is a an amazing person...but unfortunaely an ok teacher
Everything about him is great - he is kind, sweet, helpful, smart, understanding, easy, and a good teacher. He is a professor that you can learn alot from but then also helps prepare you for your future.
great guy, ok teacher, terribly boring.
Really really nice guy. You can tell that he loves what he does but I have to say the lectures are so boring. The class is pretty lame in general but having such a nice and easy professor makes it a lot better. The class is an easy A if you have him.
great teacher! gives out a lot of writing assignments but grades very generously. He is extremely sweet but lectures are a bit boring.
He is a really great guy and is so entusiastic about teaching! This class can be a decent workload but it is mostly easy busy work and he grades really easy. The workbooks get kind of annoying. He gives the class a lot of freedom. He is all around a really nice person. If you have a problem he is always there to help you fix it.
He is a Great Professor..Very Helpful..I enjoyed his class a lot.
Great person, easy grader. No homework, a few big projects but an easy A if you do your work. Good person overall. Recommended!
He's great! Gave out a lot of writing assignments that can be slightly extensive, but he grades very well. I feel that he should have only given the class one project instead of 2 but whatever. Kind of boring but it's an EASY A, and he's great at helping with any other school issues. Def. recommended.
He is a great person. He respects and encourages his students. He speak very clearly. He is a best teacher.
He's smart, respectful, helpful, clear. Overall a very nice guy. I have heard good things about him from others as well. We were placed in groups (& I don't like group assignments), but the class was about team work, so I can't complain about that.
He is one of the nicest guys and easy grader. Just don't think the mid term is easy because it's team development; I got a C and I thought I was prepared. Don't let the 2nd team project get you either because you only have 4 weeks compared to the first one. Overall, easy class. No homework but meetings with your team at times
He gives homework all the time, journals and articles. Midterm was really hard. Don't bother to buy the textbook or workbooks, you really don't need them. Really long and boring lectures. He talks about himself a lot!
He's a really nice guy and not only passionate about the industry, but about teaching. He's very enthusiastic and willing to help anytime. He'll accept late papers if you need the time because he WANTS to read them. He doesn't want to fail you. Easy grader on projects/papers. My only complaint is there is too many.
He is a great professor. I love going to his class because he is soo passionate about the material even though it can be sometimes boring. I'd DEFINITELY take him again if I had the chance! And he is really good looking for how old he implys he is!!
SUCH an awesome guy-does his best to make class interesting, tells lots of stories from when he was in the industry that cracked me up, hes HYSTERICAL! Not bad looking if i do say so myself. A lot of people complained about the workload (homework due basically every week, and 2 group presentations), but it didnt bother me at all. Loved him!
Such an amazing teacher! He knows his stuff and believes in open book tests! You will learn so much and have a great time in his class. Papers are fun and group projects are also fun! This class was great with him as a teacher! He loves what he does and it shows :)
Great professor! Interesting, helpful, and relevant. Really cares about students. If you do all the work and readigs he is a very fair grader
buy the textbook because he gives open book exams! easy grader, interesting class and projects, funny guy, definitely my favorite teacher so far at FIT
He knows everything about the industry. You will get so much real world knowledge from him. He's such a nice guy and he brings in his own things to show us and takes us on field trips to the museum and textile labs. He assigns fun group projects and the midterm & final are the only tests & they're both open book. Fairly easy class, my favorite!
He is very kind and encouraging. There are quite a lot of individual and team projects though. However it shouldn't really be a problem because he is SUCH an easy grader (He gave almost everyone a 100 on their projects). A book is definitely necessary in his class.
He is a great professor for this course! He encourages all students and tells us good news from either the fashion business or the world. Also all assignments weren't heavy for students so just enjoy the time with prof. Vassalotti! Oh, focusing on two group projects would be the most important thing for this class.
He is an excellent Professor since he provides his students with knowledge from the industry. He is also extremely understanding and tries to help if there are any team conflicts. There are two exams and occasional journal entries, which I honestly would not be too concerned with! The best thing during his lectures is his high energy level!!
I had him for Team Development Workshop. He was so boring. Yes, he was very excited about everything but a little too much. We had assignments every week that were time consuming and pointless. The two group projects are easy but he takes them very seriously. Put your name in the wrong place and he'll take points off.
The class, Team Development, is kind of pointless but he's a really great guy and an easy grader. Just make sure you show up to class and do the assignments. You don't really need to buy the textbooks, but make sure you buy the workbooks and remember to bring them to class
He's extremely enthusiastic but his lectures are sometimes hard to follow as he tends to talk really fast down as much information as possible. However he's still a great professor and FM114 with him is pretty simple. Midterm and final are open book and the assignments/projects are pretty fun to do. Take him if you have the opportunity to.
If you're looking for an A, this professor will give you it. His assignments are long and grueling but he is an easy grader. He cares a lot about his students and constantly tried to help us them in and outside the classroom whether its with internships, nyc events, and jobs. This class is very long and boring, he never let us out early
Professor Vassalotti is the best professor I've had thus far! Usually professors are so boring and give you boring textbook readings that you don't want to read. His readings were so interesting! As long as you keep up with the work and engage yourself you will do well. He's great at communicating and helps in any way he can.
Professor Vassalotti is very helpful and approachable. i took an online class over the summer and admit that it is very intense. Everyday something was due, but he warned us about it, so it wasn't a surprise. For those who taking fm 268-i'd suggest to take it in class
Great professor and great person in general. Really kind and helpful, a fair grader. You can tell he is passionate about what he teaches and you'll learn a lot from his class. Textbooks are important to buy for his open book/open note exams
Oh boy this professor... He's a really nice guy so I feel bad for not paying attention, but Team Development shouldn't even be a required class. He tries to make the class interesting through his enthusiasm, but I still can't do it. For the exams just skim through the assigned readings and thoroughly read the slides.
I highly suggest taking Prof Vassalotti. He's a super nice guy who is FULL of great information. Totally knowledgable about the fashion industry and tries to keep you in the loop with current events and opportunities available every class. Good guy to have first semester. He assigns a lot but doesn't grade hard so show up and do the work.
Prof. Vassalotti is amazing. He's passionate and animated, and he loves his students. He brings an energy to class that makes it enjoyable. I highly recommend him. Do all your assignments and express your creativity. He loves that.
There is an assignment or journal do every week. Class can feel very long and boring but he tries his best to make it entertaining and enjoyable. Very enthusiastic, upbeat and optimistic… loves anyone with a positive attitude. Midterm/Final/2 major team projects. Express creativity in team projects, because that is a huge chunk of your grade.
Great Professor. One of my favorite. Tries to get everyone involved on campus. Gives a good amount of work but is an easy grader and very understanding. Definitely take him. Book was not used very much, however a few questions on the exams were straight from the book, I would reccomend sharing it with someone. TAKE HIM
He was a very nice professor in person, and the tests and assignments were not that hard. But his lecture was incredibly boring and the books were ridiculously expensive, even they were barely used. Still cannot believe this kind of course is a requirement for FMM students.
Nicest and Easiest professor! Professor Vassalotti not only wants to teach you everything he knows and loves about the industry which is. A LOT but he also wants you to embrace the school and NYC and constantly remind the class of major events. His tests are open notes and super easy and his projects are really fun and interesting! TAKE HIM!!!
This man is so passionate about teaching. He is constantly encouraging students and wants you to really appreciate things. Every week we had a paper due but he is not a tough grader. There are two group projects and you have to be creative in order to get an A. Don't miss any classes (missing one affects your grade). Workbooks were used, RENT THEM.
do not take this class if you do not want to work. he gives a ton of homework, talks about his career way too much and expects way too much from the group projects. never lets out early. not a hard class but expect a ton of work.
He is the nicest, sweetest person but this class... so much work. Drags lectures on forever. Midterm and finals are difficult, and he takes the group and individual projects way too seriously (FYI he designed the course). He uses the $140 workbooks plus another textbook with assigned readings. They are "required" but you can get away with sharing.
His lectures were long but he was one of the nicest professors I've had! Very passionate about his teaching and understanding. Would reccomend
I loved Vassalotti he was kind, always wanted the best for his students and encouraged you to learn!!! honestly the best, I haven't had many great professors but he's on my top three!!!
TAKE HIM! Hands down my favorite professor at FIT so far. He wrote the course, so he's VERY passionate- I learned so much about the workplace & life in general. Inspires the class to explore & be positive. Class is a lot of work though- essays every week & 2 tough team projects, however easy grader. Share book & make copies instead of buying them
He is one of the best Professors at FIT. I would definitely take him again. He has one midterm and one final. And a few group and individual projects. Very easy grader and an amazing person. Has a lot of stories to share.
he gives SOOOOOOOOOOO much work do NOT take him. It's work that is very tedious and time consuming especially with many many other things you need to be doing for other classes. He doesnt understand that his students are in 5 other classes and cant consume their lives with his work.
Awful professor. Extremely not understanding or caring. Worked very hard in his class, but he couldn't tell because it was group projects. I was graded down for missing just one class! He gives tons of work, they are very time consuming and boring. I don't see how his class would be useful to me at all. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Class had potential. He rambles incessantly, w/ negative impact on group time. Teammates could have worked together but instead Prof consistently wasted time by waxing on & on. Grading of papers seemed arbitrary - 93s and 97s with no explanation as to why not 100. Made the effort seem pointless. Tries to inspire and cares, but needs to be concise.
He is a really nice guy and is passionate about what he does. The overall class was not that hard as long as you did the assignments, which consist of journal entries and writing/reading about articles. The midterm and final were straight forward and came directly from his lectures/workbooks.
Vassalotti is really really nice and cares so much about his students and the class. I just had him for team development and it was pretty good. The class itself is probably one of the worst ones that I have taken. It is not hard at all the content is just so boring it is painful. This class is very lecture heavy, so I was on twitter half the time.
The required books are $180 and we didn't get graded on anything done in them. A waste of money. Other than that he is very nice, experienced, and enthusiastic. The weekly assignments are easy As and he gives you a lot of freedom with you group. Project requirements are pretty unclear and you have to look in different places. Had a good experience!
Super easy class and amazing professor! 3 group projects and 2 individual projects, all have to be presented, midterm and test are both open book and open note. Individual projects take time to do but he's not the hardest grader. This class is an easy A. He has a lot of experience and lectures are usually pretty interesting!
Midterm and final are open notes and book, so buying the books is advised. There is a decent amount of homework and honestly it is very extensive and long but it's always interesting. There are group projects (you work with the same group the whole semester) and they're not bad at all. Then there are two main personal projects that are long but fun
Great professor! You definitely need to be well versed in presenting for 3-5 minutes at least and working in groups. He definitely had extensive knowledge in the subject he teaches, lectures do get rather lengthy though. Midterm and final are east, just print all of the slides and bring both textbooks!
Overall a reasonable instructor. Uses all 3hrs of lecture. Uses PPT in lecture. Participation doesn't matter. He gives a grade for buying the workbooks but does not grade the work in the workbooks. Lot of written papers due every week. Gives good reviews & extra credit on midterm & final exam. Two group projects. Checks attendance. Has office hrs.
Prof VASSALOTTI is a very nice guy, but I didn't enjoy him as a professor. This class is all about group projects, but his rubric and assignments are SO confusing.
Do not take this class. He's a really nice and sweet guy but there are wayyyyyy too many useless weekly assignments, he uses all three hours of the class, makes you buy a 120 workbook that you'll never use, and is unclear about how to study for his tests. DON'T DO IT! And he doesn't allow you to miss class, not ONE or points will be deducted.
Let me tell you all, Vassalotti is one of the best professors you can take at FIT. He is AMAZING!!! He is very helpful and makes sure the lectures are not boring and you understand the work you are being given throughly. He is very engaged with a lot of things in school which is always good to know about.
Professor Vassalotti gives a lot of projects and assignments but if you show effort hes a very easy grader. He lectures the full 3 hours which can be boring. Speaks his mind. He also makes an effort to make sure his students know about current events around FIT and he gives good book recommendations every week!
Projects are tedious, I really threw them together and never got worse than a 90 on one but they're generally annoying to do. Also, the man can blabber on for hours (attendance counts). He managed to spend the full 3 hours on a 6 slide powerpoint that's difficult to pay attention to. Felt like a lot of work at the time but it's really an easy A.
Way too much homework for this type of class. I'm learning very little. And he keeps rambling on.
he respects students who work hard. I was warned that this class is chaotic but it actually is not. it should be called management class not team development. If you have never worked in projects before as a team, this class will teach you just that. I admit for a 2.5 credit course their is alot of interaction on BB.
He is rude and does not care about the well being of any of his student. He claims to be all about sustainability, yet makes us print every single paper out and buy additional materials for projects. He is ridiculous with some projects and even told a pregnant student she has to take a day off work for his class. He's annoying. Do NOT recommend!!!!
Took Team Development online. Thought it would be an interesting easy class to do online. SIKE! Get ready for CHAOS. Its too much. give me a break. Its a class about building as a team and he makes it out harder than most classes I've ever taken in college. Its ridiculous. Its not that he's a terrible professor, but be ready for a lot of work.
One of my worst professors. All he does in class is talk about nonsense for 3 hours and scroll through websites while everyone sits on their laptops/phones. There are pointless projects due every week, and he's so specific on how they should be printed out (which is not budget-friendly at all it usually costs around $20 to print each project).
Professor Vassalotti is really knowledgable about the subject, but he goes on in class FOREVER! There's either a group project or paper due every week, so it's a lot of work but he's a pretty easy grader. I did all of my projects the night before but managed to get 100 on all of them. He's a lot to deal with but it's an easy A.
My favorite professor. Very nice man and keeps class interesting , I learned a lot. Lots of group projects and individual projects and homeworks but it is manageable and he is a light grader I never got under a 90. If you do the work you will get an A . Never had to study. Open book midterm and final. Definitely recommend taking this class!!
I took professor Vassalotti online for Fall 2019 and it is required to purchase the workbooks and its pricey around $120 I think and can't be rented. He is very clear on what he wants done on the blackboard. It is work load heavy and must check blackboard and emails everyday But is an easy A if you do all of it. All HW is done online with ur group
I took Prof. Vassalotti for FM114 last semester and I took him for FM268 this semester. It requires participation because the majority of this course is group work. He's very inspiring with the quotes shared and he's always up to date about the activities happening on campus. He grades on effort and will give you a good grade if turned in on time.
I took his class last semester and also I took his class this semester. I actually really like his class and I know some people complain about how much work he gives, but I don't think it is a lot. It can also help you boost up your grade.
Took him online, work is a little bit confusing and directions are kind of unclear but once you get the hang of it it's really not a hard class at all. Super easy grader and very sweet professor overall.
Professor is super nice BUT honestly can't recommend taking this course over the summer semester as I did. Too much work in too little time which basically meant work to do almost every single day. Take him for fall/spring and I am sure you will have a great experience. Also, the work for 268 is really quite easy and its all group-oriented.
he's a rlly nice old man, the group project is very important and counts for a heavy % of the grade. He is very understanding, and loves to interact/make class fun for students. his exams are a little complicated but if you study his powerpoints and quotes, you'll be completely fine.
Great professor.
100% without a doubt take a class from Prof V. He is an AMAZING person and professor. Team Dev involves lots of group work and discussion posts, but it is mostly activity/opinion based so if you do the work you get the grade. He cares about his students, is easily available via email outside of class, and clearly roots for them. 2nd class with him!
He is a really nice professor but I feel that he gives too much homework for such a simple class. The homework can range from group work, projects, workbooks, journals, and discussion boards. You usually have to do 2-3 of those things in just one week. The class is easy, it is just a lot of work at times.
He's a very kind professor that was always enthusiastic when teaching the subject. He also loved interacting with the class to get to know us further. The amount of work was sometimes challenging to handle, yet he is very understanding. He also makes sure to give great feedback on your work. Hopefully I can take him again!
first of all, the class itself is so not needed, its legit all busy work. Took this prof online and directions are so messy and make zero sense. This class is so annoying, i feel like no professor can help this course.
Professor Vassalotti does give a lot of work, but he is extremely kind and understanding. He shows true enthusiasm when hes teaching, and cares for his students. The class had a lot of work but he is a great professor who genuinely shows passion for teaching. Would definitely take him again!
I am currently taking this as an online course and although through email this professor seems nice, his class is extremely confusing. The material itself is not hard, though the way he has his blackboard laid out is very hard to follow. It is much too easy to miss an assignment in this class due to the disorganization of his bb page.
Really nice and understanding professor, the class itself was not my favorite. There's a lot of homework and group work every week, as well as two hefty group projects. The class itself is not hard but his blackboard layout is horrible and very confusing. Again, I like the professor just not so much the class
He is an amazing prof. He is caring, care about student a lot, even in an online class, but he tried to know everyone in his class, and remember every little thing of everyone. HW is a lot, but easy, only quiz for the class. always giving detailed feedback. Wonderful prof. I never had before! Definitely would take his class again!
He's such an amazing and caring person, I really sad to end up with his class. Best professor ever.
he's an understanding professor but he gives SO MUCH work that it's hard to keep track of. If you submit an assignment late it has to be submitted within 24 hours after the due date otherwise you don't get credit. He's nice and clearly shows that he cares about his students, but niceness doesn't get me keep me mentally stable throughout the semester
Professor Vassalotti is great, definitely one of the best professors at FIT. I've taken him once for FM268 and currently taking him for FM326. It is clear he cares a lot about the subject and for his students. FM326 is one of my favorite classes at FIT and there isn't much homework. He tells you exactly what's on the exams too.
Incredible and Interesting class. Professor explains everything well; you will have fun in this class! It is very easy class if you listen to him and read a book. Great professor!
Prof. Vassalotti is pretty good. His lectures are kind of boring and dry but he is an easy grader and the assignments are straightforward. This was an easy A for me but if you are looking for something engaging that is not here. Overall, still like him and he means well.
this class is extremely easy besides the group projects, extremely thankful for the open book midterm and final
He is a great professor and is pretty funny. He really cares about the environment and is very knowledgeable. Very easy assignments and gives you a lot of time to complete them. Exams are online; this is the easiest A ever. Take him.
Hes just so sweet and caring. BEST PROF EVER
Great professor who is very passionate about FIT and sustainability! All tests are open note and open book. He gives many extra credit opportunities. The book for this class is very interesting and worth the read.
BY FAR, my FAVORITE professor at this school. I've never seen anyone so passionate and vocal about sustainability; such a breath of fresh air. he really cares about getting the students involved. The work is so easy; he gave sm time to do them, the tests were open notes and so easy. I'd never want to graduate if he could teach every class here.
Such an amazing professor! You actually care so much about his students and want them to succeed. If I could take him again, I would. He is so passionate about making the world more circular and has so much experience!
He's very skilled in what he does. He's very sweet and understanding. The work is really boring, and I spent the entire three hours doing other classes' homework. Overall, he is a great teacher; he is willing to teach, knows his stuff very well, is an easy grader, and isn't intimidating at all. He has a lot of stories to tell!
