Tough Class
Read the assigned chapters and you will most likely get a B in the class.
Tough class. Some parts of the midterms was fill in which you know where it's in your notes but forget the exact word. Would not recommend at all.
Interesting lectures, but very hard class. Knows marketing thoroughly though. Tests are long. And he grades hard on essays.
He is a very good teacher but he's not easy. Sample exam questions are on the actual exam, and also self test questions from the end of chapters are sometimes used on exam. Very interesting teacher. I learned alot from him, likely to take him again.
Big and scary dude.
A loud funny Italian. Great teacher. Its a challenge to get him off your back when you try to give your point about the lecture. Easy test-mostly multiple choice. Read the book and go to class.
His 131A is a class to avoid. His exams are essay questions only and he grades hard. Tells us to do a mess of review questions, and most of the exam questions are different from the review. Also teases students when they ask questions. Not helpful or nice.
Just took the final. Wasn't too bad. This is not an easy class, but you learn a lot of practical things that will help you understand B2B in the real world. Concepts are a little hard to grasp, but he does try to explain things as best he can.
STAY ABREAST WITH MATERIAL.Mult choice tests, 1 paper, selected readings.Dispute your grades during office hours, get more points for the effort.Passionate about marketing, nothing is too outrageous for this guy. He's an ASSET!
He is very funny! The midterms are loooong, about 80 M/CH questions. If you read your ok. Most of the material is common sense. One written assignment which is not bad at all. Interesting class.
This fat-ass will eat you in class. He shuts you down if you ask him a question that challenges his beliefs. His tests are really hard, dont take him.
Good teacher. funny and knows his stuff. interesting lectures. his stories help. dont ask him questions that r contrary to his beliefs, he'll rip u apart in front of the class! If only he could avoid that, he would be 1 of the best teachers in the school.

He is arrogant, obnoxious, and just plain bitter. Don't try questioning him b/c he simply will blow you off and think he is right. Exam questions are not clear and he will always try to prove you wrong.
I took 3 his classes and got an A. You have to read a book & study from power points (look book wbpg). He is very smart. Don't argue w/him if you are not sure about your point. He doesn't aprove of BS. BUT YOU DO LEARN A LOT FROM HIM!
He's not approachable, he will chew you up and spit you out if you ask him a question/comment that he doesn't like or agree with, and his tests are unreasonable-need to memorize the book to pass his class.
He is intimidating and hard to approach. He shoots your questions and comments down. You are never right and do not bother to correct him because he will find a way to make himself look like he was right all along. He has not sympathy for his students!
took his summer course, no HW. despite what the people below say, his tests are ridiculously easy. the hardest part is getting through the three weeks of lecture. he talks very fast and skips around. tests on only what he lectures.
Also took his class in the summer and learned a lot. Knows what he is talking about, tells great stories. I'm not a marketing major but I loved his class. Would take him again.
Vitale IS APPROACHABLE. You just can't be a slacker and want answers. Keep up on weekly reading assignments and study your notes for tests and you will do fine...
Well, I did alright in his class during the summer. I would have to attribute his difficultly level in allowing your brain to enrich it's properties. His tests are long and obnoxious, it is hard to focus the whole test at least for me. I would have gotten
took him for bus to bus marketing and he sucks! dont take him, very unclear on what is on the test!
His lecture notes are based off the book. Pay attention to review questions and most missed exam questions because they show up again.
Class is hard to much info at one time. DO NOT take during summer. Just to much information to understand. Spends more time talking about McDonalds then about the subject. Recommened another teacher to take this course with.
Vitale is the best teacher I had in a long time!He is the master of business-2-business.His tests will be enlightening and you will have so much fun doing the case studies. Cant wait to take him again. A++++++++++
He is a good teacher, but he expects you to know the material without being taught. He is a smart guy but he talks to you like you should be teaching the class with him. The IMC group project is a Pain in the A$$ and he wont show you how to do it correctly, just tell you how not to do it.
Test are based entirely from reading, very straight forward. Does not give extra time for IMC paper, even for a good reason. Show up in class, do the reading, and don't let your group slack off because he won't help you if you're stuck with all the work. Go to his office to see sample projects.
He lectures from the book. No group projects. No homework besides reading.Very clear lecturer.I would highly recommend him.Easy B if you come to the class and if you study A for sure:) He repeats questions from the previous test.Study the question on line he gives before the exam.
if you cant pass this class you need to go back to middle school. vitale's lectures and exams are straight from the book. no HW, no presentations. he tells funny stories sometimes, but if you ask questions he will make you feel like an idiot. if you have a pulse you can pass this class.
I heard alot of bad things, but Vitale turned out to be a pretty cool guy. I took his class over winter session and thought it was fairly easy. Very straightforward, but you have to read the book. Lectures are interesting, I'd take him again. Grade was based on 3 tests, 1 was cumulative. I
He is the best teacher! He advises you on things if you go to see him during his office hours. You need to study, but his class is very interesting. Very interesting professor. Knows his stuff! HIGHLY recommend him.
This instructor is bad for Marketing classes. Class rules are strict and there are a lot of work to do through the semester. If you are Business Marketing major, avoid him. Take somebody else except him.
Mr. Chubs is a cool guy. It's an easy class when compared to other business courses. Study the definitions and you'll at least get a B (your results may vary). Don't even trip about this course. Also, most missed questions will pop up on the following exam too, so keep on top of things.
Tough class...yes, his lectures are similar to the book HE wrote, but they're still not very helpful or clear. The exams are really tough (all complicated, short answer), though the rest of the classwork is average difficulty...
sarcastic and not in a good way. i hated this class.
Great teacher, will learn alot by taking any of his courses. He's not the easiest teacher, but he's one of the best at SJSU.
great class. Had a blast taking it. Favorite class of the semester. His humor is a little off sometimes but he is one of the few teachers who really cares about the students. I took him at night and the time just flew right by. I'd take him again if I could. Cell phones caues pop quiz so remind your classmates...
Vitale is a great teacher. His book needs a little bit more clarity. He is always willing to help. Go see him for any case studies. His test are basic concepts that he goes over and over again in class. Definitely possible to get an "A".
Definitely one of the best professors in the COB. He cares about students and is extremely helpful if you are willing to work. Highly recommended.
Not an easy class. He is not very helpful when you have questions. He wouldn't really help you. He can be unclear in times. However, he does give you good advise during presentations. He will make fun of you in front of people. His exams are not that hard. Good luck!
great class, very easy, just show up and listen and you'll get an A. everyone in my group got an A.
Awesome instructor!!! Guaranteed to learn if you are involved in class discussions. Relates the real world to the course. Seems intimidating in the beginning but I promise he warms up to anybody who shows an interest to learn. Warning-don't take him if you are a lazy individual. I enjoyed him so much, I took him for 3 courses.
This is an easy and basic course but he made it fun.
Hard as hell but well worth the work
This class was HARD.. only because his midterms and finals are essay format. You either know it or you dont. You have 2 case analysis and you have to make sure you write what he wants you to write about, if not, you will get a BAD grade. But he will help you if you go to his office, which helped a lot. His curving helped too.
test- HARD; professor- nice, helpful, and give great examples that will sure help you in the future
If you can put up with a professor that loves to talk about himself you will like Vitale. This guy thinks he knows everything, even tries to talk politics (what a joke). Class avg. on tests were 65% and blamed it all on the class never considered his tests were not fair. He made a easy class hard because of the BS tests.
Used real life examples, in which got your attention, and made the class real intresting. He thinks he knows everything, tests are very unfair class avg was low, dosent seem to care much for students real blunt teacher. If you work real hard day and night study 8+ hours a day you may be able to pull off a grade of a C. Wouldnt recomend him.
Vitale is the worse teacher @ SJSU. He is very rude and incredibly full of himself. The class average was in the 60's and he never stopped to think that maybe his tests that were the problem. Furthermore he refused to curve the grades and pointed all blame on the class. He should do SJSU a favor and go back to work for Ford or GM. Stay away!!!
I took this class during the winter session and I got a B. I just did the online quizzes and read his power points, that's all I did. But his class was really boring, he’s a conservative republican and always talks about how great President Bush is :)) I don’t recommend him.
Great Professor! Be prepared to work, it was an extremely hard class, but well worth it. There are not many professors at State like Vitale, he cares about his students, as long as you show him you are interested in learning. Do not be intimidated by him, and make sure to ask for help if you need it. He knows the material well and wants you to lear
I really liked and learned a lot from the project/presentation. The exams were hard and I don't even mind if I got a C cuz I honestly learned a lot from the group presentation. I have to say, though, that his influence and assistance on the project was minimally helpful. If I could grade him, I'd give him a C+.
A tedy bear once you went beyond the classroom setting. Dr. Vitale is a true professor who teach students real lessons in life. Get to know him personally, and you'll appreciate it. Testing wise, no curve (in real-life, work has no curve), read and attend class, you'll pass. Btw, challenge yourself with the honors class.
Vitale is one interesting teacher. He can be so full of himself somedays and informative other days. Most days, he can just be a pompous a$$! I don't like his teaching style, he can be too blunt and always has to be right. 2 midterms, 1 massive group project and 1 final. Don't take this guy if you don't have to.
The best teacher I have had in my college experience. Vitale cares an incredible amount for his students if you try and put in the effort. I took him fro 3 diff. classes and would take him for 3 more. He makes you want to work hard and he truly cares for the student. An AMAZING professor!
Vitale is a great teacher. He knows his stuff and isn't afraid to challenge you if he thinks your opinion is different than his. Vitale's tests are hard, so now your stuff. I also really like him because he finds the kids in his class that are losers and dosen't let them get away with crap they might be able to in other classes.
Prof. Vitale is a very knowledgable. I believe he is a bit cynical at times and my political views are not in alignment with his. But when it comes to the substance of the course, he's well versed in B2B. Exam styles change for each test though. Sometimes lists. Sometimes essays. Be careful! I'd give him an A- / A
Very knowledgeable teacher. He will tell you it like it is. No sugar coating but its because he wants to help. Slides are helpful and make sure you pick A GOOD GROUP!
He's pretty straight forward on what he wnts on his exam. The exams are pretty hard. you need to study har for it

Vitale is knowledgeable on marketing material and helped the honors class with real marketing internship projects. TAKE THIS CLASS! :)
He is very scary looking...i wish the class was longer than it was....fun class and had a huge project. Challenging! You will be learning lots about marketing. Recommended Bus 130 with him then take 134B.
Hard grader & has favorite students. If you stuck with lazy people with group project, you will be screwed. I deserved better grade than B especially he commented that I did well on the presentation. Maybe I was not his favorite. Unclear how he graded at the end. Heavy group project.
Vitale loosens up quite a bit. Feels more like a graduate class than an undergraduate class. Helps out when he can, but don't expect hand-holding. Keep him informed about what's going on with your group and you'll do well. It's the companies you have to worry about.
By far the best professor I have EVER taken. His B2B class is hard, so don't take this class if you are a slacker. The concepts I learned in his B2B class have helped in every other business class I have taken. You will learn life long marketing concepts that can help you immensely in your chosen career. Defintely recommend for serious students.
Here you have to study the book. Exam questions are not hard, after he tells you what he wanted you to say there. A little subjective, cuz he asses not only your preparation, but your intellect. Doesn't take crap from you and stands behind his opinions, cuz mostly he's right, although he likes to engage in a discussion to prove that.
He is sadistic in his treatment of students (we pay his measly salary). He does virtually everything he cuts people down for doing. He does not do anything to add any valuable input even when asked. This guy is virtually worthless. He has horrible breath and a sloppy appearance. Two thumbs down.
I am a recent graduate who can honestly say that he was the worse teacher I had at SJSU. He was unhelpful and rude. Very unapproachable. Robert if you read this, please either change your teaching style or go back to Ford or GM. This guy got booed at the graduation ceremony when they called his name. That says a lot.
This teacher is a great teacher, just loves challenging his students. If you plan on passing w/no work-then good luck! I reccomend going to his office hours to discuss w/him on the case studies or to just chat w/him. He's very experienced, and knowledgeable. The students that rated him harshly have obviously slacked off. Take him &Learn! Trust Me!
If you plan on taking this class, then make SURE u attend with LOTS AND LOTS OF ENERGY! follow the IMC software n u're good on the project paper, BUT MAKE SURE U HAVE ENERGY while presenting if u wanna past!
he's easy. just go to class and study the book and its cake. you really have to pay attention and take good notes. he uses the same tests every semester so if you know someone who took him before you, study the tests. its the easist final i ever took.
may seem like a tough guy but if you really get to know him, he truly cares about his students as people. very passionate about marketing and explains things clearly. i found him entertaining and enjoyed how he interacted with the class in his lectures. makes material applicable to real life situations.
Working with the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program helped me enhance my marketing skills and my resume.
if you want to learn this is the class it is a bit tough but you learn a lot. test are a bit tricky you have to study the book. gotta have good presentation skills if you don't present during the first couple days. need a lot of time to do the group work.
I took him for both 134B and 131A. 131A was hard for me since the test are written exam, which I hated. 134B is a lot of work. You be spendin more time working on the project with your team Expect to do more then 8 hrs of work with your team if you want to do a great job. Plus do the extra credit presentation. It will help you relax and practice
Prof. Vitale's class for business-to-business marketing is hard. You wouldn't think it was hard looking at his sylabus but his tests are what makes the class so dificult. His tests are "short-answer" questions. He grades them very strictly. If you didn't write what he thought in his mind was the answer...you get NO points. 3 case study papers also.
Not an easy class, but if you read and listen, there is nothing that is beyond your ability. If anyone decides to take this class, I have the textbook for really cheap, asking $40. email at [email protected].
If you're here to learn strategies and tactics you must learn to cut the bull and slack teachers of the past gave you. The course is a great introduction of B2B dynamics that will require logic. He knows his stuff and he's only tough on the outside. Understand that looks and personality can be deceiving; he's soft and full of character.
Better polish up your presentation skills before this class. Dont lean on the podium, and definiately dont whisper. Hes critical but its actually very entertaining. This is give you a backbone if you're not very tough! Hes an excellent professor.
Waste of time. All his lectures are based on powerpoint slides that he gets from the publisher of the textbook. Tests are hard. Lots of presentations, apt to humiliate those who aren't great public speakers. Will not be talking any of his other courses, suggest you do the same.
I think I'm going to make a T-Shirt that says "I've survived Vitale's class." This class is intense because of all the group work and presentations, but you will learn a lot in the end. Study the practice quizzes from the book companion website and study the textbook for the exams. If you put forth a lot of effort, you will pass.
If you like group projects & presentations go for it! You pick your group members by the second week of class...good luck!If you have a horrible group good luck! Majority of the grade is the group project & your final presentation. If you hate presentations than you should take this class to LEARN other than that teach yourself the rest GOOD LUCK!
Excellent B2B MKT Class. His teachings are very useful up to this day. Thank you.
Excellent professor. He has real world experience in what he teaches and he enjoys teaching and really giving the students a taste of the real world. This class is very helpful if you are going to be sucessful in the Marketing world. Challenging, but you will learn a lot. Expect to study and read/understand everything to get an A in this class.
Great teacher, you learn a lot in his class, project is hard, but well worth it.
If you are a marketing major you have to take this class. He is a difficult teacher but you can tell he knows a lot about his field. There are 3 tests and 3 sections of a big project due throughout the year, with the ending section being the hardest and most time constrained. If your a gluten for punishment go and take his class.
I attended every class and got a good grade. He was horrific though and I would not suggest him. He is not helpful, plays favorites and WILL humiliate you. He is very arrogant because he clearly knows a lot about his field, his tests and the IMC are HARD and he grades HARD w.o giving you any rubric. AVOID
His classes are boring and he gets everything from the books. I expected a lot more from him as a teacher. He is really hard to please and study for. Go to office hours
hes a hard professor but if you can become a favorite all the power to you. do not be on your laptop in class and sit in the front row because you will get called out.
This class definitely brushed up my presentation skills and developed better studying habits. Not an easy A but if you do get it, it feels GREAT because this class is a positive challenge. Take him!
Take him! He will challenge you and provide valuable feedback that you will take with you into your career. Get to know your classmates prior to selecting your group. Group project is important. Practice your presentations and pay attention to the little details.
He's not easy but no other choice. Very entertaining lecutres. Exam base on lecture+ppt+book. If u'r lost on project, go to office hour as a group. Follow his format for the turn-in's. If pick a good group, you'll do fine in the end. Good groups get to go ahead for presentations for ez grading. Gives honest advice on presentation day. Good luck!
Clear lecture, straightforward exams, unclear project expectations, unfair treatment towards "regular" students, gives professional advise to honors students but ridicules regular ones, has a sense of humor, practical stories in lecture, very tall so ppl think he's staring you down. take him, you'll love him when he feels like helping you.
He will definitely challenge you,but you learn a lot that will help in the long run. The IMC project is one of the most rewarding projects I have done at SJSU. The presentation, though he rips almost everyone apart, was one of the best presentations I've done. His feedback is very useful. Take him if you want to learn something.
He's your quintessential State professor. Retired from workforce, came to teach and spread "practical knowledge." He does well passing his experience, but the problem is they are old. What he teaches is not what Silicon Valley is about. It's not adaptive, it's rigid. His notion of good won't necessarily be good today. But this is Cal State for you.
Interesting class, but very stressful. Make sure to choose a good group of people that can meet up with you like two weeks before a IMC deadline. As for tests, they are not so bad as long as you review the powerpoints and read the text. As for the practice presentation, they are about 5-7 mins long. Plus, he gives meaningful feedback.
Tests are very hard. Try to avoid him and find a different professor for this course. I had no choice as a marketing major and the result was dropping the course
Honestly, this was the hardest class of the semester. No type of study guide, tests are based off the book and class lecture. The tests are comprehensive, no type multiple choice tests. No type of study guide, other than that review questions that he posts for each chapter. 1 group paper with horrible directions. Do yourself a favor and dont take.
Vitale is the least approachable person, very intimidating, rude, gives dirty looks. If you ask questions in class he gives sarcastic remarks. JUST NOT NICE. Normally that's fine, but he isn't even a good teacher. all of the ppt's and tests he uses are straight from the publisher. Quizlet is your bff when studying for exams, has all q's posted.
Hard/time consuming but very rewarding if you do good on the IMC. MC tests 75-80 Qs- no study guide. NEED to read book/take notes in class. pick a good group!!! he is a hard ass but he will like you if you participate/go to office hours. IMC instructions are vague but he will give you answers if you bother him enough :) thx vitale!
You need to work hard to earn a good grade in this class. Go to his office hours! He's very helpful. When it comes to tests, they're in essay format. Study for these tests by answering the review ?s in the back of each chapter b/c by doing this, you're actually learning and UNDERSTAND the materials instead of just merely memorizing key words.
You'll learn things from him regardless, but class and presentation atmosphere is negative. This is not a professor who's inspiring or uplifting. It's either you're worth giving an ish about or you're not. He favors the honors kids more. Misplaced test scores and changed due dates last minute but gives us attitude when we make a mistake
The meanest professor at Sjsu, not open-minded to new ideas; rude feedback to students; rides his high horse to school; buddies with the dean so he thinks he is literally the best at everything, mentions he is better than other professors. Believes he is the standard of what professors should be.
I honestly think that his class is hard, but this is university bro. We as university students need to learn and be prepared for the real life world. And his class is definitely is a MUST for you to take. You DEFINITELY will improve your presentation skills at the end of the semester!
His class is not interactive AT ALL. He is very knowledgeable but I feel like it goes to waste. He has a lot of material and does not engage the class. He allowed one student to monopolize the class the entire semester. His exams are very difficult, and he offers little study material that does not even reflect the exams. Also don't piss him off.
If you are taking his business to business marketing class, his exams are made up of primarily his review questions posted on canvas. So study his review questions, in which he answers, and you'll be golden. I didn't buy the book, and I got an A in the class. Exams are essay format, so practice writing down the answers for the review questions.
You really have to work hard for this class. There are 3 midterms and the final is a group IMC project where your group has to go and find a real local business and come up with a marketing program for them. The midterms are crucial and the project is just as crucial because there are 3 parts to it as well. The slides are really helpful for midterm
This class consist almost all of his exams. There are 4 exams that he crams in over 14 chapters. He really is a tough grader. Study hard for his first exam. This class is hard because his grading scale is curved differently from the common grading scale. There are two case studies that are also a significant portion of the class. Can be hard class.
Do NOT take this professor. He is a tough grader, monotone lecturer and is very rude with presentation feedback.
Not as bad as everyone says he is. MC exams are based on the book, so read the chapters for any terms missing from the lectures. IMC project can be rough, but just follow the rubric as closely as you can and make sure you're not missing anything. Presentation feedback is fair imo, I've become a much better presenter after taking this class.
Lectures about stuff from the 1980's, boring & monotone, PPT don't match. Nothing he talks about is relevant today. He brings up his stories about his experience but they aren't interesting. He gives you very little assignments but you don't know what is expected to receive a good grade. He is so unclear and confusing. Tests are essay form. Avoid!
Probably the best professor I have taken at SJSU. I learned more in his class than I did in all my other classes put together. There is a group project where you form an advertising company and create an IMC plan for an existing company.I got so much out of this project. This class is NOT for lazy business students, this is for the top biz students
Vitale's excellent at giving feedback for your future based on your IMC projects but if you need his class to pass in general. TAKE 134A separately first before this class. Understanding IMC is key to your grade and pick your groupmates wisely. Midterms are difficult also because his lectures are dry and require you to read the book to understand.
GROUP PROJECT is extremely tough in this course. He is a very tough grader when it comes to your public speaking skills. Unlike other professors (grade on your effort), he wants the real facts and numbers and wants ppt done in a certain way. Midterms are alright, just read the textbook and you'll pass.
This guy is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. the material isnt hard, but he only accepts things his way. tests are short answer and if the answers aren't how he'd explain it he will mark it wrong. he wrote the textbook and he thinks his concepts are the only correct way. he doesnt even lecture, he just tells random stories from his career.
Really tough grader, tests are not multiple choice, they are essay format. he doesnt allow any re-dos, extra credit, nothing. HANDS DOWN the most infuriating teacher at sjsu
There's a semester-long project. You should be open with him in regards to the project so you can get the most help possible. He seems scary at first, but in the long run you'll realize he is preparing you for real-life situations in business.
He touched a nerve in me that may have changed my direction in business. I argue one of the best for B2B. Customers are #1. Integrity is high in this man. His ethics are ridgid and are non situational. Going through a divorce i was not given leeway for sub par work. He made me grow as a person and as a business professional. Teaches from experience
Vitale has high standards, but you will feel more prepared for the real business world. Reading the textbook is how you will pass this class.
The WORST professor I ever had! He doesn't want students to succeed in this class instead he wants to show how smart he is! The class average of the first exam was 55/100. NEVER post any records of his lecture and DON'T respond to the student's email. DON'T respect the student who is not a native speaker. EVER EVER TAKE HIS CLASS!
RUN! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Vitale is rude, inconsiderate, and he does not take student feedback into consideration, and your entire grade is based on 1 paper and 4 exams. He can never provide students with direct answers that are anywhere near helpful.
This professor lacks empathy for his grading criteria. Taking his class was one of the most tremendous hurdles I have yet to experience. He is also the least helpful when you request help. His test questions are all free-response and even if you do your best to answer them, it may not be enough. His questions are very in-depth and require reading.
I took multiple classes with Prof V from 2004-2006. If you are looking for a participation trophy or an experienced business person to agree with Socialist/Communist business practices this teacher isn't for you. But if you want to get prepared for what the corporate world will expect from you take Prof V! You will grow as a professional.
