I had him forchild psych, and he is the sweetest man. You learn a lot about his kids, but it's all helpful info. He's made a class that benifits the kids that actually come to class, but some of his test QU's came be tricky-take specific notes in class!!!
Nice guy. Mediocre teacher. Don't want to insult his person, it's just that the class took great subject material and made it SO DULL. Long exams (100 question final.) Nice curve. Is sometimes pretty entertaining/funny. Good videos. Short temper.
Good Prof. Great videos. Material covered well. Responds to all questions, emails etc. Long & numerous exams however, just read text...
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! his tests have horrible content validity and he plays favorites to an extreme very unhelpful
He's a really nice guy and you can tell he knows a lot. But his tests are really hard, you have to like memorize little details from the book. There's not a lot of class notes.
Very nice man, but his class is soo boring. His tests are straight out of the book, and from some very specific notes. If you read and memorize the book front to back you should be alright. ha! He also has a short temper and gets frustrated easily.

The class y its self if not bad. However, the tests are usually bits of information that are usually overlooked because they are not that important. Like a few other profs on this campus, you can have full knowledge of material and still get a poor grade
I would not reccommend voytas to anyone. He' not horrible and does curvew the final grade, but what we are tested on does not go along with his lectures, so you're usually left reading the chapter and looking for small hidden details. Hate the class
He is the worst ever!!! He will not help you, and is very boring. He shows dumb videos about his own children which have nothing to do with his lessons. He is very confusing. I highly suggest getting another teacher for psychology
BORING, BORING, BORING. Unclear lectures, VERY unclear assignments. Long tests, not hard, but too long. Personally, I think the guy would be an alright person, but as a teacher, he leaves alot to be desired.

90 question exams... whos getting carried away? Yea he's boring and takes attendance. still want to take this class? I did not miss any classes did the full 10 pages of the term paper and still got a B in the class, PSY is also my major. :>
ok i had this man for a 3 hr night class...if ur smart u wont take him...i must admit his stories are interesting but his tests are hard and his papers are worth absolutly nothing..so basically if u suck at taking tests ur screwed
This guy is awful..all he does is fill a 3 hour night class with stories about his 20 children. He places a huge emphasis on attendence but doesn't even teach us anything that's going to be on the exams. His lectures are worthless.
If you need a teacher to have good clear lectures- go else where. His are typically jumbled and unclear. If you are want to read the book and pass the test-go for it. Nice person just not a great teacher. Tests are long but as long as you read you're ok.
Personally,i enjoy the class.I like how he varies class time w/lecture,stories,& videos. Although sometimes the tests may be a little confusing,if you are in class,then you will know the right answer to pick.The stories of his kids relates to real life!!

I don't think he is as bad as some say. I like his stories becuase he just doesn't come out of no where with them, they relate to the topic he is lecturing about. Go to class and it will make it a lot easier. Yes his tests are long, but not that hard.
His class is a waste of time. You don't need to go. If you get the book and read the chapters carefully you'll do fine on the exams. There are 5 exams. The final isn't cumulative. And there is a 8 page term paper to do.
Dr. Voytas makes it his personal mission to make you feel like an idiot if you ask questions in class. IT got to the point where I would never ask questions because he always made be feel stupid and never did answer the question I asked. NOT RECOMMENDED

Very reasonable. He teaches at the college level, not what KU students are used to. Don't be a jerk and you are fine.

In the real world you actually have to do work, so ppl should get over the fact that you do a lot of work in college: resumes/portfolios were a HUGE help for graduating srs. ALSO most of his students pass the comps - Rains' students did not all pass...
This class ruined my last semester at college. His directions for assignments were not clear because half of the time he did not come prepared for class, and then he would blame the class for not asking questions or not performing at a senior level.
Dr. V's sr.sem involves a lot of work and it does take time to do, but if you actually do it you will be much more informed about psychology and you will be much better prepared for the real world. Take his class if you want to succeed.

The teacher has read this site, he annouced in class he would be changing his attendence and test policies. He gives a study if you show in class; plus if you go everyday he curves your grade. He's very funny and the his lecture reinforces the reading.
He gets off topic too easily and it's really hard to pay attention to him.
um he always had that bull attendance policy, i went to every class and still got a B even thou i had a 88 average,so what curve? He didnt read my term paper i got a B after all the work i put into it and to top it off hes boring as hell.Id rather slam my head through and window than take him again!
didn't learn anything during class. none of his notes are on the tests. your only hope for passing the tests is to read the book. only reason for going to class is to get attendance points. let me put it this way...his class kept me from getting a 4.0 that semester, it was my obly B!
Very very poor professor, he should save us all the headaches and just retire. What a waste of your good money and this class is the only reason I wont get a 4.0 this semester. last test over 70% of the class got an answer wrong and he dosen't get it that its a reflection of his poor teaching skills
although he looks jolly and friendly, he is virtually the worst professor i've had at kutztown so far. he is not understanding and doesn't seem to care about the students in his class. the class is so boring and THE only reason to go class is attendence points, because he READS the text to us

I followed his recommendations on how to do well and got an A. He returned the papers too with suggestions for improvement.
I got into grad school because of how he ran the course. It got me prepared. I wouldn't have any idea wha to do after graduation.
this guys an idiot, He makes you do an 8 to 10 page paper in the end and probably doesnt even grade it. Tests are unreal. He gave us a so called study guide with 50 questions on it, 3 of those questions were on the test of 75 questions. What a joke
Dont U apply 2get into grad school? not let in by how a prof "runs a course" Let me guess prof self rated here all 5s? U followed his dir and got an A on his paper Luke? No1 in my class got a pper back yet. I should get a B in the class but learned zero from him, buy the book and reading it.

Worst teacher ever! Encourages you to answer questions and counts participation as 10% of grade, but makes you feel so stupid when you do answer questions. If you have a question about anything makes you feel dumb. Told someone in my class that they are stupid & shouldn't be a teacher.Dont take him!
worse prof i have ever had. my advisor even warned me not to take him, but i was stuck. speaks endlessly about his boring children, who probably hate him. nothing from class is on the tests, all book. very abrasive, rude, and demeaning to students who actually tried to participate(not me!)

It was a little unorganized at the beginning. But every requirement was made clear you had the opportunity to earn the grade you wanted. This class prepared me for work and grad school. I would HIGHLY reccomend for senior sem.
He hands out A LOT of papers, but you get the hang of things after awhile. He sets up the course so that you contract what grade you want & you know exactly what you need to do. You don't get grades on your work, but rather just checks off of your grade contract. Good teacher & laid-back class.

Voytas is an ass!! he does not teach you, too many stories about his kids. You would probably learn more from a guy off the street than Robert Voytas.
Voytas is the best , he likes to help his students and really care about them. Ignore what other people wrote here, they proably lazy and not srious and they have to talk about others instead of looking at what is wrong with them. And he doents talk about his kids that much. I learned a lot from him
Worst Professor I ever took, he is suck a a**,if you go to him for help he makes you feel like a idiot. He told me that i was stupid and should drop out of school becuase i did bad on his test. DONT TAKE HIM. All he talks about during class is how great his 4 kids are. You don't learn anything.
horrible...am I'm not lazy..graduated with a 4.0. Studied my a.. off for exams and got low B's. Got an A in the class though. Talked about kids a lot and didn't really answer our questions. Assignments were bs and don't know where got many test questions from even though read chapters twice.
This guy got thrown at as half way during the semester cause robinson our other prof disappeared on us with no explanation. Good luck trying to talk to this guy about anything
I took Voytas 5 years ago. No one here is lazy esp. if you're in college gd-it! He IS a bit of a jerk. I just stayed away and minded my business to get through. Uh... Luke, Elsa, soccer practice, and Dr. Laura? That's what I remember.

Prof. Voytas by far among the worst professors i have ever had. He babbles nonsensically throughout the entire lecture, usually about his damn kids are "super-nanny".he refuses to answer q's, and tries to make you feel ashamed when asking a question or for clarification.he probably should have retired decades ago.do yourself a favor~don't take him!
Voytas is horrible.I'm graduating in 2 months, obviously I'm not lazy..His work-load is ridiculous. He seems to think we are only taking his class. He isn't clear on anything and expects us to understand what he wants done. Tons of handouts that are basically a waste of trees.

i have never had such a horrible teacher. I felt stupid whenever I asked him a question. I think he means well but he is flustered when everyone is unhappy and therefore no longer cares what happens to the students.
I hated this guy. I missed a class and he told me the only way I could make it up is if I called off of work, because thats the only time he had. I explained that Im poor and need every hour I have at work, and he told me that I dont have my priorities right, and maybe Im not fit to go to college! Im graduating, no thanks to him, and dont take him!

His class felt like an eternity. Extremely difficult tests and doesn't give you the proper material to study... If you have to take him I suggest living by the book.
Very disoragnized, unstructured class, changes requirements a lot, but easy to deal with. Oh and he never taught one class, not nearly as bad as people make him out to be, just show some effort!
aced or "a'd" every one of his exams in two different classes I had with him. he still can't remember me. past time to retire...but why do that when he still has more stupid **** in mind for puny little college punks. advise people to avoid this tiny man, whether you do well or not, you will despise him. take required classes from anybody else.
he makes you sign a grade contract at the beginning for your grade, so you know from the start what to get done by the end of the class... it was a lot of work for an A but if you want it that bad its worth it, dont procrastinate! he's not a bad man and the course was alright, could've been better... and ALWAYS laugh at his jokes...

Professor Voytas is a very good professor. The tests are tricky but the information all comes from the text and lectures. Class participation and attendance are important. He knows his stuff and is really a great guy
You never know when something is due or how to do it and when you ask you are called stupid. He is a huge ***hole. RETIRE ALREADY!!!! I have never DREADED going to a class before until now! Take someone else anyone else! I would rather read 100 books than do his confusing assignments.
tricky test nice guy i have a c so far.i prob could have put more time into the class other then the night before gets fired up about attendence and will give extra cred to thoughs only who came to class which was not me that often i dont think he is very understanding about his class and life problem. but you can do well if you try i liked him
You pretty much teach yourself everything from the book. He words things wierd on the tests and tries to trick you. He is a good guy and loves to tell stories, but not a very good prof.
It was all there if you were willing to do the work. I can't believe people think he was bad unless they didn't do the work. If you didn't, you didn't do well. If you did, you learned a lot. I did and got an easy B.

Pick your poison with senior seminar, boring dry santa clause who should retire or take Rains and read about 20 novels and get weekly quizzes. You seniors get screwed Milevski's Senior sem was easy compaired to these guys. (unless u like reading) Voytas is boring and i honestly feel asleep many times in his class. long tests. RETIRE!!!

Boring, read straight from his power points, didn't really teach in any clear manner. Couldn't engage the class or motivate us to come to class, and his tests were straight from the book. You basically have to teach yourself. I did that, and missed more classes than I should have, still got a B,but I had to work for it, terrible teacher overall.
ANOTHER joke class. he tries to make connections to real life situations, but fails miserably b/c he's chuckling like santa clause with three children on his lap. I hate dogs and i hate his class. i dont even know why there is lecture when a person can easily sit home and read the book in stead of someone reading it to u!!!

Senior Sem was great. He graded by contract so you could choose your grade and then do the stuff for it. I did a career portfolio which I thought was useful for finding a job cand helped me decide what to do with my life. Worthwhile.
Inro--He got me off to a good start though I didn't know it till later. Could be more dynamic. Good foundation
this man needs to retire and i think he has. his lectures are boring, he goes off on pointless tangents. why bc hes tenured and they cant get rid of him so he doesnt care anymore. santa gives you coal when it comes to your earned grade as well.
He lectures with powerpoint, but he post his lecture so you can download them before class. It was efficient and I foun it helpful. I got a B with some effort.
