Very understanding and willing to help you suceed. Scares you the first day then turns into a very good class that you wont dread going to each class.

I got an A and it was easy. Go to class. Give a good effort on the few assignments and get an A or B. Cool guy. Is he still at SCC?Covers alot of black poeple stuff, but still interesting.

The best teacher I have ever had. If you truly want to learn, it will be a great experience.His was the only class that almost the entire class would stay past the time the class ended and continue the discussion. I hope he is still teaching

I was dreading English 2 until I got Mr. Waller he is one of the best instructors at SCC. I took him this Summer in 6 weeks. He loke to teach on minority poets and situations. He's the best!! Likes to slack off at times, b/c he thinks he's underpaid. But overall He's the Best!!!!!!!!!

IT IS NICE TO COME TO CLASS AND ACTUALLY BE INTERESTED. HE FOLLOWS THE RULES BUT CAN RELATE TO HIS STUDENTS UNLIKE MOST STICK UP THE YOU KNOW WHAT TEACHERS. Professor Waller has a passion for the minority writers and poets. You think you know all about diversity but by the end of the course you feel what other people have felt. This teacher has a calling to try to make a difference in our world and he accomplishes it one person at a time. Great Course that you will enjoy.

Mr. Waller is a light in the dark places of academia. His English II class is a must take for those attending SCC. He really proclaims truth to a lost culture. He might be a tad bitter as a result of the lostness of our present time, but it can be hard not to be.

You will love his class lecture. He makes it interested. Don't miss class, because it will be hard for you to catch up. For your research paper, he selects the topic. If you want a good grade in this class, make sure you have proper grammar in all of his essays.

Mr. Waller is a good teacher. Though he does go off topic a lot. He intends to do well. He seems to try to make himself out to be a big bad wolf, but he's just the opposite. You will make an A if you write your papers to his standards and attend every class. Great teacher, great experience. I'll be taking him for 1102 next semester.

He does talk a lot in his class, but he grades is papers easily, and there are not many assignments throughout the semester. Anyone should be able to do well in this class! Just attend class regularily and you will do fine!

he's a joke. he prides himself on preaching about life instead actually teaching english. i almost walked out of class. he assumes everyone took only standard classes and we all have kids and we lead awful lives. his indulgent boring tangents are irritating to those with brains. an entire class was a lecture about life. ridiculous. don't do it.

sweet man, really likes to help, is always there for you, cancels class alot. 1 vocab test, 1 short stories test. a drama review on any play, and a 5 page final paper on an african american or spanish poet. i got a b. it was just relaxed class.if you want someone down your throat and with crazy deadlines then dont take him hes very relaxed

Pretty straightforward prof. No homework to speak of outside of reading the assigned stories. Had 1 cumulative short story test, 1 vocabulary test, a group poem analysis, a 5-page research paper on a poet, a drama review, and a 60-minute timed writing. Would go on rants but they mostly added to the enjoyment of the class. Definitely recommended!

Great teacher. Wonderful class. Lots of discussion on the readings, which might lead the class off topic but it was always intelligent conversation and I found it riviting. He gets the class interested and involved. Fair and kind gradeer, no homework. Three exams. He has some health issues that might cause class to be canceled once or twice.

Definitely not an easy A class by any means simply because he makes you "think" unlike many others teaching here. Material is basically some short stories from the Literature book, essays on them FYI-Pay attention to his rules, this WILL matter come grading. Pay attention to detail & step outside the box while reading each story. Learned alot!!

i took eng 1 and 2 with him. He is a very reasonable teacher.. just come to class and do your assignments.. he gives you the requirement for your reasearch paper and other assignments ahead of time and is willing to help and answer any questions you have. This class is an easy A.

Waller is BY FAR my favorite professor. He is not only approachable but he is a truly nice person. He is helpful, gives story examples, and is clear about assignment guidelines and due dates and is entertaining! He didnt assign excessive homework and his tests are exact to what we learn in class. I took him for english one and two. TAKE HIS CLASS!!

He is overall very nice and fair. Attend class because some of his test questions come from lecture. Class is not tough but you cannot slack. He is very understanding. Gives loads of extra credit! His tests are fair only if you study and attend class. His easy attitude causes many people to slack and end up with horrible grades.

Professor Waller is a very personable guy. He was a delight in class and always kept things light. He does drift quite a bit through the lectures going off target, but you can tell it is because he wants to make a point to the class and it is often a life lesson. Though he was one of the easiest teachers, attendance was a must! I would of gotten an A if it weren't for that. He's really nice and understanding. Tests are easy and projects are fun. I would deff take again 1010 recomend

Waller is one of the easier English teachers, however, the class is still not a piece of cake. He gave very fun and interesting lectures, and is a great guy when you get to know him. Also, class gets out early sometimes and he is not super strict on tardiness. Overall an awesome teacher!

This professor is really good as far as telling you what he wants and expect out of the class. So he is ok. Just bare with him and you would get use to it and love it.

No final exam. I came into this class with limited writing experience....I learned a ton and earned an A. Will take for ENC1102.

Tests are super easy all matching. He loves what he does and he's really helpful. Do the writing analysis assignments, it's not as hard as it sounds trust me you will get an A on all of them if you just do them and follow the directions. One research paper so not bad. I would take him again. He has a sense of humor. Expect a project at the end.

Professor Waller is clear about what he wants. His class is not difficult at all. The tests were based off the short stories that he gave as homework and vocabulary and exempts you from final if you have an A. He is passionate about the final group project. Make sure you know MLA format for his essay.

He helped me with every essay by giving me pointers. hes easy to talk to if your having issues but you have to at least try. There are usually 2 essays and one VERY small research paper but he explains everything so well its a breeze.

During lectures he always gets off topic its annoying but he does teach good. If youre terrible like me with English then I recommend prof. Waller. He gives tips and help with essays. He gives 2 essay assignments and everything else is on canvas.

His lectures are boring and he talked about his son all the time. However hes a nice teacher and a easy class to pass, only two tests throughout the semester and the hw are super easy and you have to write only one essay for the semester. Some times goes off subject. Pretty easy work. Half the course switched to online with the pandemic which made the class really simple. Had to write 3 papers, 3-5 long, but still pretty easy. Would take again.

Prof. Waller is a really nice prof. who really enjoys teaching. He does have a tendency to go off topic, but I really think its because of he's genuinely a friendly guy and likes to talk. We had a fun group project at the end and like 2 papers. If you show up to class, participate and chit chat every now and again, you'll find that hes pretty cool.

Prof. Waller's online class (Remote Lecture) was so easy. Yes you will need to write papers, but his grading system is immaculate. I'm a crazy procrastinator (do not recommend lol) and I passed with an A+. Gives extra credit that is easy to complete, and lectures are super easy to attend. InQuisitive is required but its easy to pass.

One of the best professors at the college! I have already taken 4 courses with him, and will take more! He explains all the material in a very detailed way, and if you want to be a professional in finance you definitely need to take him! But be prepared for the whole 3-hour long classes and studying the material before the tests.
