Prof. Kent was the best! I hated public speaking, but he made it so much fun! He is a very laid back prof who will help you out. Very fun class too. 5 speeches, super easy, and he guides you through them. Definitely recommend this prof for ANY speech class!

Prof. Walls makes his class environment very relaxed and fun. Before taking his class I was avoiding taking a speech class for a few years due to my shyness but he makes the class a breeze and makes you feel confident to give your speeches. You only have 5 major speeches in which he fully prepares you for. I highly recommend him! He's great :)

I wouldn't call it a easy class but he does make the class fun and there are only 2 exams which doesn't worth much of your grade and are just logical questions that you can answer easily. Your grades are mainly based off your speech. There are no extra credits so make sure you do well on your speech. The text book is optional.

Take him for speech if you can. He is a great Professor. His lectures can drag a bit but are usually pretty funny. He is pretty lenient and will help you as much as possible on your speeches. Be prepared to talk though, his class is pretty interactive.

There are very few homework assignments and they are all easy. His midterm and test is EXACTLY the study guide. If you hate public speaking or are worried about the class then you should take his class. He is very understanding and tolerant and as long as you follow his instructions you will get an A. Great class and a great teacher!

Absolute of the best teachers in have ever had. He definitely wants you to succeed in his class and in life. He is very available and helpful. Only gives mid term and final along with speeches. Highly recommended...

This professor makes everyone in the class feel very comfortable with giving speeches. His lectures are a lot of fun and the two tests he gives are very easy. His class was a lot of fun, I wanted to be there for every class. He is very helpful with the structure of the speeches. Would definitely take him again!

He has been my favorite professor at Mt Sac by far!! He truly cares about his students progress and helps you feel comfortable while you perform your speeches. His classes are always fun and he is always very uplifting. In the beginning of each class he has people share something positive about their day. He also looks like Jesse from breaking bad!

Best Speech 1A professor. If you have to take the class, I 100% recommend Professor Walls. Extremely chill and funny, but at the same time a great professor to learn from. I think he looks more like Brian from Limitless.

I really enjoyed my semester with Kent. His grading is very clear, and it's all in the syllabus. He's got a great sense of humor and he's very easy to strike up a conversation with, especially if you're a sports fan. Midterm and final are incredibly easy. 4 speeches total: impromptu, demonstration, informative, and persuasive.

He's by far the best speech professor there is. If you are scared of public speaking, have dropped before or any other reason - take his class. He genuinely cares and it shows. He's also really funny.

Professor Walls was great! Very honest about what he expects but understands that public speaking is scary for many students. Attendance is important. And you don't need to buy I text book. He gives notes and study guides for all his exams.

Kent is such a babe, I love him! He can be sassy & he does have those days where he doesn't want to talk. don't take it personally. 4 speeches (impromptu, demo, inform & persuasive) midterm/final he gives the answers a few days before. Make eye contact & you will be fine. You have a partner the 2nd day of class you need to introduce to the class

When I think of the ideal college professor - Dr. Walls is exactly that. I have been terrified of this class for years. Scared to ever present myself in front of a room. He has literally changed my mindset. He has inspired me to understand the importance of public speaking and how it can help me in the future. I adore his class.

he is definitely one of my favorite professors ive had! youll have plenty of presentations, but he makes it fun/less stressful! the midterm and exam is based off his study guide, which is identical to the problems on the test. he wants you to really put in the effort to earn that grade!

Kent is an AMAZING professor. He provides everything you need to do well in his class. The first half of the semester was primarily his lectures, but he makes them interesting by showing funny videos representing his points, on top of that he's absolutely hilarious. He cares about his students. 10/10 would take his class again.

Professor Walls was a really great, super chill Professor. Hes funny and observant. First half of semester there is no homework, which is nice if you have other classes. Dont procrastinate on speeches, and practice multiple times. He wont remind you of due dates, you have to keep track of that yourself. He makes class a comfortable environment.

Im a veteran on the GI bill and coming back to school was really intimidating, but Dr. Walls made this transition so comfortable. I appreciated his humble approach, but he also taught and challenged us a lot. I wish he taught more classes because I would take all of them.

This professor is one of the best I've had. He reached out to me when I had stuff going on in my life and really appreciated that. He is very understanding and cares about his students i would take his class again no doubt.

Prof. Walls is wonderful. His class is very well structured and organized. He sets you up for success in a comfortable learning environment. I took him on-line. 5 speeches. No scheduled zoom meets but he did post pre-recorded lectures/Ted talks related to the course. Book is FREE, reading material is engaging, keeps you interested. TAKE HIM!!!

You should look this guy up at other universities. He's a top rated prof at multiple universities in So Cal. It makes sense. Super relatable, kind, respectful and truly cares about me as a student. Can't recommend Prof Walls (Kent as he likes to be called) enough.

Although we didn't have an opportunity to present real speeches we still got the necessary feedback that we needed through the videos we posted. I was super shy and nervous sometimes, but the professor didn't put us down at all, he was encouraging while also able to criticize our work professionally and respectfully. Easy A as long as you try.

Free textbook given through Canvas. Super simple, read weekly chapter, that goes along with a discussion and quiz. Only 5 main speeches. Be prepared to complete an outline, power point and record yourself. He is super nice and understanding. Organized and gives clear directions. I recommend him

I took him this summer, but when a friend asked him recently about next Winter online classes, he said he was not being offered courses by the department for next winter. Absolutely stupid move by Mt Sac speech department. Tell your friends to request he get classes. His online class is amazing! Best one!

Take Prof Walls! Easy workload and the reading material was actually very helpful for doing my speeches. I took this class online so for me each week consisted of 2-4 open book quizzes, an outline, and a speech. Take him!

Take him! The class goes by fast, few open book quizzes every week, it's super easy. I took him in Summer so there was a speech due every week but if you work hard you will pass.

Take his online class. It's the best speech class at Mt. Sac. He's awesome! The class is super organized and easy to follow. Also, if you are afraid of speaking in public, this is the class for you.

Took Professor Walls for spring 2022, it is a very easy class, quizzes are open-book. Overall only 5 recorded speeches I believe along with the outlines. Discussions and quizzes are due every week, but both should take less than 20 minutes to complete. Just do the bare minimum and you will get an A.

Take his online class. He's the best. Seriously, you won't regret it.

Professor Walls is strict on deadlines. He gives out quizzes chapter readings plus discussion per week. There's also 4 speeches spread throughout the semester. Overall, he gives great feedback that's really helpful on where to improve on.

He's my favorite professor I've ever had. People say he's strict on deadlines, but he's really not. He makes it VERY clear what he expects, gives LOTS of reminders and was even understanding in my situation... so I think it's unfair to say he's "REALLY STRICT" with deadlines. Despite my grade, this speech class was easy! For anyone else with a crippling fear of public speaking, I recommend this professor to you! There is a total of 5 speeches but they are easy to do. Quizzes are open book, and he provides the textbook for you. He is strict with deadlines, but don't fail to communicate with him if something went wrong!

If you are a strong speaker and speech writer, this class will be light work. The assignments and speeches are manageable; however, the speech outlines are time-consuming. As long as you have good time management and engagement, you will pass this class with no worries. However, he is a slow grader and doesn't give much feedback.
