He should NOT be teaching a 100-level class. He gives too much details about too many things and you have to know everything to pass the tests. Take ONLY if you are very interested in myth; if you wanna take his class because you think you will become interested, DON'T-he'll drive you away-I wanna say more, but have no room-NOT a good INTRO teacher

Roman Civilization... I loved the class.. he told the history of the Roman Empire like it was a soap opera... very interesting, very funny, highly enjoyable. I recommend all classes taught by Professor White!

He is one of the best professors I have ever had in Hunter. He is so hilarious him and his stories. He really knows his stuff. He gives one paper, midterm(idntifications), final(essay and identifications). Take this class if you like myth. Memorization big time for this class. Best class I ever had. First of all, Let me be real honest with you ppl. In this class its very hard to cheat, because this prof. stands up the whole time. He gives 3 test and a final. His test are always the last 5 minutes of class. Its either you know it or not. Also, there is test A and Test B. Oh and you have to memorize soooooo much sh*t.

This professor is so entertaining it's like watching a comedian. But the test are a little hard because you basically have to memorize everything he says. He chooses like 20 words and then you write anything and everything you can remember about it. Also, I believe 2 papers, the first of which is like creative writing so it was fun. The reading was easy.

I love Mr. White!! Like everyone else has said, he's soo funny and entertaining, and yet very smart (he went to Yale i think?) It's all memorization, which i think is easy.. just go to class and study and youll get an A. GREAT TEACHER, you def wont forget him!!

Wonderful professor!Extremely smart, really knows his stuff.I'm glad he left Yale for us. What made his class helpful was the fact that he always gave a study sheet before an exam.He's so nice and really friendly, not inhibited at all. He is very funny, he gives great analogies to help students understand the work. He makes sure that everyone understands before he moves on. A great professor. explains everything in detail. A lot of emeorization for that class but i did not mind I used to memorize the stems while i was on the train...I will try to take Greek methology with him. 100% recommended...His jokes make your day ;)

He's alright. Definitely engaging. His assignments are simple enough. He's a little condecending when he speaks about his family. You'll learn that his daughter went to Princeton and he got his PhD at Yale where he met his wife. Overall a nice guy and an easy A.

He is the best! There's no text book. A midterm, final, and a 10pg. paper but he gives you enough help that writing 10pgs is easy. Funny guy, is always telling stories. he is also known to sing and dance too. you'll take a lot of notes and learn just as much. he will bend over backwards to help you do good.

I took Prof. White for both Greek and Roman Civ, and each time I was glad I did! He's a fantastic teacher, who loves the subject and loves his students - a perfect combination. He is very eccentric and clever, and wants his students to love the subject as much as he does. He isn't tough, but you will learn a lot! I recommend his class for EVERYONE

What can I say that hasn't already been said yet? Amazing professor and great person in general. His stories are both interesting and very amusing. I'll be honest - the material just wasn't of great interest to me at first, but as the semester rolled along I got drawn in quickly. If you are even remotely interested in this stuff, take his class!

I graduated in Hunter in 1994, he is the only professor I remember. He is engadging and well deserving of praise. Take his classes you will remember his spirit and love of teaching longer than the material.

hes an awesome teacher and so chill. you don't really need to go to class but you miss out on funny stories. he only gave 2-3 quizzes and a final. he tells you whats on the exam with a study sheet. the topic itself is interesting so awesome class and awesome teacher.

I adore him as a professor and as a person. He's one of my favorite people that I've met at Hunter, students included. You won't be penalized if you miss class, but you're truly missing out if you don't go. I'm sure I'll always remember him!

I've been at Hunter for 6 years. I took Robert White's class my first semester and he is still far and beyond my favorite professor! I truly appreciate all he does for his students. This man was made to teach...his effort and personality will never be forgotten!

He is HILARIOUS, he has the funniest stories. He's been teaching for many years and it shows. He is extremely organized. There is one large paper that he breaks up into two smaller ones. The only thing I would complain about is he makes you memorize about 60 terms and only asks you to define 15 for the tests, which are entirely passed on notes.

A funny guy and enthusiastic teacher. You can tell he actually wants to be there in front of a class, unlike some other profs. Tries to pack in too much information and memorization into one semester. I agree with the comment below that he should be teaching 200-level and higher courses, not a 100 level course.

I can only write what will inflate Professor White's ego a little more. He's that amazing and knows it. Uses amusing stories to break up the class and holds students' interest. Very engaging. Take a class with him.

The BEST and AWESOMEST professor. He is easy. He tells you what to do for his 2 papers and gives examples. He gives you the terms on the midterm and final to help you study. There is a lot of stuff to remember but he teaches so fun and cool that you remember anyway.

Prof. White is just simply amazing. Extremely charismatic, humorous and makes the material really interesting! Tests are all writing but you'll be fine if you take good notes in class. Attendance isn't required although he does pass a sheet around but trust me, you wouldn't want to miss class. One of the best at hunter!

This class was a great combo: Prof White teaching the Aeneid and Di Scipio teaching Dante. They complemented each other greatly. Professor White showed off his extensive knowledge of the classics. An unexpected treat was to find out that he can sing, too! Is there anything this man can't do? Very enjoyable class.

An amazing professor! We had a midterm, a final, and 2 papers (the last paper was based on the first one, so it's not much extra work). Highly, highly recommended! His lectures are interesting and he has a gift for engaging his students. He's more like an actor or a comedian on stage rather than a stuffy old professor. He is a talented professor.

Loved this class. Professor White may go off on tangents and is always giving personal stories, but there is a lot of material covered in class. Had two papers, a in-class midterm and final, which were all straightforward and easy as long as you've done the reading. Oh, and the required books were awesome and cheap.

Professor White is the most positive individual I've ever met. Although his class consists of heavy note taking and a decent amount of work, he is a fair grader and gives you every opportunity to do well. This is my last semester at Hunter and Prof. White is one of the few reasons I'm sad to be leaving. I LOVE THIS MAN!

One of the best at Hunter College! His classes are always fun and you find yourself looking forward to them. He's hilarious and his stories are always entertaining. I had him first semester of my freshmen year and he is the sole reason I loved going to Hunter. He is the best professor EVER. His tests are super easy, there is a lot of note taking but you will be fine because it's impossible to NOT pay attention in his class.

Professor White is one of the best professors I have had in my life! He is very intelligent, humorous and kind! I had an honors course with him for 3 hours in the evening, when everyone is tired! However, I was always sad that the class had to end at 8 pm!!! He is amazing!
