He talks clearly n likes to answer ur Q's;but he is hard too. Lots of work to do in his class;and u r urself responsible for it!
He will go to great lengths to answer questions as he thinks thats his main job. The work itself isnt very easy and he tries to make it fun.
Very good. Answers any questions in the class. recomended for any new students.
He is just great. There is noone like him. Just take him, do homework, and you will learn a lottttttttttt.
Keeps you awake because he has a loud voice. Sometimes loses his place in the middle of the lecture. Lectures not very organized. Took him in summer school and couldn't find him after class.
very hard to understand his lecture
he's a nice guy, curves, answers all questions, but the subject itself is hard so u have to do all the hw, pay attention, and come to class if you want to do good.
Good guy. Accounting 1 is a tough to grasp for most since it's their 1st Accounting class. He really tries to make sure you learn and answer your doubts or questions. He tried to hammer the material into your head and make it easy to understand but you must read on your own too. I reccomend him.
Very clear, helpful, and an all around nice guy. Always joking with the class, while still making the point. Focuses on students gaining knowledge, rather than just memorization. I left both of his classes with a clear, good grasp of all the subject matter. Do the work, and you'll get an A. Simple as that. But DO THE WORK!!
Knows his stuff, but does not realise that students have other issues to deal with. If you do not do well in an exam, he is so quick to tell you to drop the class. Not motivational.Ignore these talks, pick up where you left off and just work very hard. You will get an A
Doesn't care about attendance, which is great for those who have to miss the class. Keeps it simple when explaining the topics, with clarity. If you do the work, and well on exams you will get a good grade.
He teaches the material very well, but you have to do the work or you'll fall behind. Very entertaining in the classroom. He refers to himself in the third person, but that's part of what makes him entertaining. If you're willing to do the work, take him. You'll have a good time and you'll really know the fundamentals of accounting.
Explains the material well. Would take again.
This professor does a great job teaching a difficult subject. He tries to understand the student and teach in ways that would be more helpful to us. Tough class; open book midterm and final-trust me,that only makes it harder. plus he gives a take home exam(filling out two tax returns(time consuming). Hard class -I recommend Widman. Very beneficial
Professor Widman is a joy learn with. He knows the material deeply, can teach to multiple levels of learning simultaneously, and keeps students of all backgrounds entertained - even laughing - in an *accounting* class. He is an outstanding professor, so if you have to take the class, or are just interested in the subject, i highly recommend him.
He is very laid back with a wierd sense of humor. He covers all the necessary material but does leave the learning of the material to the student. Classes mainly consist of doing exercises in class so that the theory becomes more pratical to the student. Overall he a great professor.
talk a lot about everything but not about subject. don't check h/w. If you have time to sudy on you own his perfict one becouse he didn't teach at all.
Really great professor. His tests are fair, he teaches well, and his take home exam really helps you.
Good Teacher!!!
He is the best professor I ever take for accounting!!! He is so professional, so helpful. Not easy way to receive your A, but you will really know the material and will have good time. You need to work hard by yourself, but the results will be perfect with Him!
Excellent teacher!!!
Don't take this course over the summer! He is okay at explaining and gives real-life examples of tax law, but he gives a project which is on material we never covered which isn't fair especially in the summer and he gives very hard 45 m/c questions plus two excersises to do (although exercises are very fair) within 2 1/2 hours. But he is the best
Great professor i really enjoyed taking him, really helpful, there are two test that are not too hard, and easy to study from, just use the study guide, not the book. the tax returns are really really hard, and i know how to do one, but they take extremely long to do, but u have plenty of time to do em. a great professor all around
Let's reconnoiter, summer isn't the best time to take this course. He veers off subject a lot and you are still responsible for the material. His midterm and final are open book, but that doesnt help much, it just gives him free reign to give a harder test. On his tests he gives an excersize problem thats the same thing he hands out in class except with different numbers. He also gives 2 or 3 take-home returns, let me just say its a pain in the @$$, even if you do it on turbo tax.
GREAT PROFESSOR very clear and knows how to teach.after this class you will know the material. u must read the book
the class itself is not easy, but he explains everything, pretty clear and helpfull. Two exams plus hmw online...if you do the hmw's you'll be fine. I would recomend him
very funny guy. even though the exams are open book they are difficult. great teacher if you pay attention you will learn alot. also has some good stories. very enjoyable experience
For a teacher that goes off on tangents every two seconds he's good at teaching the material. Overstates the importance of doing the homework considering he goes over most of it in class. Possibly headache inducing lectures as he yells "WIDMAN WHICH SIDE ARE DEBITS ON?" at least 8 times per class. That and the word reconnoiter once at the end.
Overall good professor. He answers students' questions and goes over all the relevant material. He has a pretty good sense of humor and manages to keep the students interested, although he should stop referring to himself in the third person.
Very helpful, explains everything clearly and goes over the majority of the homework problems. Exams are open book but they are too difficult and too many questions. I didn't have enough time to finish both exams even though I spent a lot of time redoing the homework questions and attented every class.
One of the best professor Brooklyn college got to offer. He explain everything really well. Hard exams, too many questions but you learn from the best.
He is a pretty good professor but he's not great! His test are not easy. I took his class in the summer and I felt that he rushed everything. He tells a lot of jokes and he always asks us "WIDMAN WHICH SIDES ARE DEBTS ON?' till the point where its not funny anymore. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER because its not an easy A! Good Luck!
Prof. Widman really tries to make this an interesting class with real life examples and some humour. I learned a lot because I worked hard and was rewarded with a good grade at the end. His emphasis on reading the text and doing homework should be taken seriously. He is approachable and a well experienced educator and professional.
Widman was the best professor I had at Brooklyn. Very clear, always tries to help, funny, and philosophical. The test are insanely hard but it's not his fault. Department test.. Although he probably wrote a few questions.
Great professor! Very clear and helpfull. Do your homework and get an A in his class!
he is easy.he gives no written homework. the hw is online, he does the example w/ different numbers. must read chpts to understand. department midterm & final. no exams. no paper. annual report mini project at the end pretty easy serves as a final review
very knowlegeable, cristal clear teaching, and knows what he is talking about. he makes sure you undersand what he taught before he moves on to the next thing and online homework HELPS! he loves to RECANOIDER (or however you spell it)... you'll see
best teacher ever.. makes you forget that the class is 2 hours long. the midterm and final are made up by the department so any acct1 class you take you'll have the same test. there are 10 online homeworks which you can re-do until you get a good grade. a mini project at the end.. very easy. professorwidman.com TAKE HIS CLASS. he's very helpful too
He was a great Professor. I had a pre-conceived notion about accounting that he showed me was wrong. I did well in the class mostly because of him being my Prof. Very nice and very clear to understand.
He reviews some things in class to show he is actually doing his job but he does not really teach it to you. I relied on myself and the text book to learn; only used him when I did not understand the book and needed clarification. Gives weekly homeworks online with a time limit. Do all your work and read the whole chapter for each week. Got an A.
accounting is a hard subject but prof widman made it totally doable. come to class, do the hw's, study and get an A. as simple as that.
Very experienced and humorous teacher. Used textbook a lot, not the text, but exercises and problems. Make sure you do all the assigned exercises. He won't collect them but it's your own benefit, because they help you on exams. If you attend everyday, participate, do all the exercises, you WILL get an A. Highly recommended. You will love him.
You wont understand a single thing in his class. He doesnot explain anything and wants to finish the course asap without explaining it.dont take him if u r new in Accting plzz
he teaches basics of the chapters during class but not everything. you need to read every chapter and do all the online hw that he assigns. if you read it and focus on what youre reading you will do fine. try taking notes while reading on your own. thats what youll use primarily then taking notes in class cant hurt. got an A but need to read urself
unbelievably boring i just couldnt sit straight there. exams are tough, open book but only helps if you already know something.
very good prof. he not only teaches you the knowledge in the book, but also his experience. In order to learn what you should learn, you only need to learn from the prof, but also need to read the book. Do not rely on prof. to tell you everything. if you focus on what you should learn, you will enjoy his class and learn a lot.
good prof for acct 1 ! he will explain anything u have a question on. however u have to learn on ur own and read the whole book ! very important to read, otherwise u will be lost. The prof is nice and teaches well, but its just acct 1 midterm and final that is veryy hard. So must spend time studying on YOUR own !
the class is hard, but he is a good teacher. he has a sense of humor. he always asks if you have questions and will review till you understand.
Great Professor. you have to read the book but he is pretty fair. He gives out a sample exam before midterm and final and goes over it in class.
The easiness is not of the professor but rather of the material. this material is not hard if you do the necessary work, which really is just what he assigns. it is a lot of work, but it's really helpful in hammering the material into your head. As for Prof. Widman is AMAZING!!! He is funny, brings real-world experience, and wants you to succeed!!!
he can uses one class to do one or two questions and most of time answer student's questions and talks about a lot of useless things. however, his lecture covers most of the material. you need to do the practices to get the high grade.
He is the best professor I've had so far at Brooklyn College. The subject itself is hard, but if you have a good attendance and do all the homework, you can get an A. I'll take classes with him again and recommend him everyone
he is cute
Loud and clear, funny as all hell, knows the material and loves accounting a bit too much. Get his points across and doesn't only talk number. Ohh and he loves to laugh and make jokes so he's the man, the best at Brooklyn no doubt.
Great Professor. Very clear. Tests are hard! You have to study a lot on your own! don't just come to class and listen to him... do weekly homework, read the book and you ll get a good grade.
Class is hard, for people who have no idea about Accounting don't take the class unless you are extremely good at Math and basic algebra. Calculations are very important to do good in this class. Midterm is hard, and final too, but do the home works and he curves too so until you try your best you will do fine. The professor is helpful and funny.
I was told to take Widman because I heard he was the best. Heres the deal. You will need to read the material and he will do the HW problems in class so you can understand the material better. He is very smart. Gives open book/notes midterm and final and also gives a take home test. not hard but you will need to read and learn on your own a bit
Acct 2001. The class is hard. It covers different aspects of accounting. The midterm was hard, and final was a bit easy, but covered all the chapters from the beginning of semester. In order to do well in this class you need to read a book, do the homework the professor assigns from the book, and also do homework online, which is 20% of your grade.
I took Professor Widman three years ago but I am revisiting beginning accounting material for the CPA exam. Widman has a great conceptual understanding of accounting. He really endeavors to overcome mild asperity and inspire students to learn the concepts as well as he knows them. Those principles in class are foundational and I'm glad I chose him.
Professor Widman is always on point. Go to class and you'll learn. Its not easy, but with Widman it seems easy.
Class is hard but not impossible. If you have harder classes in your schedule I suggest you not take his class because it requires A LOT of studying. Textbook is must, I learned more from it then him. Also, if you're not going to major in accounting...then do not take his class because it's stress that you do not need
-_- this guy, would go off on the most random stuff, then have the audacity to stop teaching once he hears a small convo (which was outside of class). I'd rather take BIBLE classes, he teaches surface level accounting not the real deal. DO NOT TAKE. I learned more from Websites then the book and him combined.
Very nice, funny and knowledgable professor. Very tough material but interesting if you pay attention. He makes it the easiest he could, gives you answers of textbook question and uses a self Checkable homework program online. Long lecture for sleeping but helpful if pay attention in. If u pass midterm or final u pass automatically.HIGHLY RECOMMENd
Fantastic professor! Practicing accountant with passion for the subject. Gives out a lot of handouts. Have to put in the work, though. Exams are tough. Be prepared to do a lot of work if you want the grade.
One of the best Brooklyn College professors. He become my favorite teacher! Professor Widman explains everything in great detail and really cares about his students. You will not get an easy A if you don't put effort. Exams are tough but if you pay attention in the class you'll be fine.
Great prof but need to put in time. 20 online hw assignments worth 20 percent. midterm and final. attendance not mandatory. good teacher but its a hard class so he is pretty good. dont think you'll get better for accounting
Extremely hard course. His exams are open book, but it doesn't help bc there are 45-50 mc quests. Finish the test asap, and then,go to the book. You will need to prepare a bunch of tables which are necessary for a test. You'll have to read some chapters for a few times, so if you have other difficult classes, don't take it.1 Midt+Tax Ret Projct+Final
Widman is top tier at BC. I've had great teachers at brooklyn and some duds- this guy knows his stuff. Go to class and you'll learn exactly what you need to know to pass the exams- Tax Accounting is not easy or exciting, but Widman knows how to teach it- he's funny,so class is not as boring as accounting with some other Profs.
Finally a class at BK college where you actually learn something. Go to class and and re-do all the problems he gives you in class. Do not miss any classes! His exams are long and open book, but the questions are almost identical to what he does in class. His main goal is to give you a general understanding of tax, not fail you.
Professor Widman, the oasis you need in Accounting. He turns complicated ideas into easy to understand facts. He makes credits and debits seem like credits and credits. Widman once took a 4000 line item spreadsheet and turned it into gold, a true alchemist. If I had to do it all over I'd take Widman 3 times a day, but only 2 days a week.
nice guy he does exercises in class, if you have a question he will answer it the tests are a different matter he puts questions he only briefly talked about in class expects you to know them. i asked him if i should focus on the exercises in class, he told me focus on the everything, which for acct 3011 is a lot. overall a tough class
The semester just began and I'm already regretting taking this class. Having a tutor helps a lot. Expect to be reading your textbook.
The BEST. I don't know what I would have been doing in Income Tax class have I a taken a different professor. Explains new material on examples, and trust me, this is the only way to understand taxes. Concentrate on the topics he covers in class and you'll do go on exam. Includes a few tricky questions, just read it carefully. Does HW for you!
Income taxation is a hard class as it is. He gives us plenty of examples on the chapters. concentrate on those and you will be fine. Exams are "open book" but you need to study the materials.
The course is not an easy one to ace, however, professor Widman does a very good job explaining the material. If you don't skip classes and arrive on time then you'll learn a lot from him. The guy is experienced in his field and knows what he is talking about.
Very hard accounting class. I'm good at math and calculations are easy, but the concepts are soooo hard to understand. 1/10 would not recommend.
The guy is an absolute legend! Really good teacher and if you go to class and put in the work you'll get an A no doubt. He curves the tests and passes you if you pass one test. An A is really not hard to get in this class, HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
He's a cool teacher but you definitely need to read the book in order to have confidence going into the exams. He also curves the grades, which is cool. No extra credit tho. Grades are based on HE & 2 exams
Great professor. Read the book and do connect hill homework, and you'll get A. Two exams, cumulative, 50 questions. And he curves.
Be prepared to read the textbook and do problems on the connect system. Take advantage of the connect system it has great study resources. Make sure to make study sheets on each chapter so when you study for the midterm and the final it will be easy.
Great professor. If you read the book and do the homework this class is an Easy A
Best suited for Accounting majors but you may have a hard time if you're not. He does know the topic well but he will not write everything on the board besides numbers so you may not know what is going on. The test can be tricky since it applies a lot of thinking. Will definitely answer to your questions so ask a lot and can be extremely helpful.
Grade is based off two test! The connect system really helps you learn. Test are hard you gotta sit and study and he curves by a lot like 20 points . Professor is really sweet and does a good job teaching. Classes are mostly just solving problems from the textbook. The textbook is your new best friend
I recommend him everybody, only thing do not skip the class, best luck
Knows his material well. Gives large curves on his tests in order that students will do well. Do the Connect homework and the review questions it counts towards your grade. Read the book and study for tests you should do well. Ask questions. No group projects. Nice professor.
Amazing class. Do your homework and practice solving problems and you'll be fine. Will definitely take again.
