assigns too much work tests half essay good grader lots of reading and writing
very enthusiatic, great guy :-), tought course
No Comments
His tests are a piece of cake. Make sure to participate, and the essay to his tests are usually based on the case done in class.
Good teacher. Participation and Hw are key to a good grade. He grades funny on test essays. The right answer does not get full credit loading the essay with legal terms and defining them along with the right answer gets full cr, so put a ton of defs in
funny little man. unique teaching style but once you catch on its easy.
Ok professor. he's not really clear on some things, and he's weird like giving an exam on the syllabus but other than that he's good
No Comments
He definitly has a very different/unique teaching & grading style. First I thought I had to run and drop the class, but afterwhile you realize its really not that bad. Gives 4 tests and loves participation- its worth like 30%. A pretty good choice..
SO random!!!
He is a nice guy and can be funny so the classes aren't boring but you have to do the homework and you have to make sure you know what you are talking about. He is very picky especially on the essays he gives on tests!
DON'T TAKE THIS GUY!!!!!
i think he's mad cuz his last name is wiener. dont ever answer a q. in class cuz hes crazy. gave a half hour speech about marriage for no reason. i hate his suspenders. thats it, dont take him.
you'll hate him, yourself and the school if you take this guy.. oh and he is a weiner... you can just tell he was made fun of as a kid and now is back to extract revenge on YOU!
Wiener, Wiener, Wiener. This is by the far the strangest teacher, I've had at Pace so far. He means well, just has a weird way of showing it. He gives a lot of hw and the test always made me nervous. Take someone else if you have to.
An average professor. He teaches well in the beginning but tails off as far as detail as the course goes on. Key is to participate in class or you lose out on lots of pts. Definitely a weirdo! If you can, take someone else but not terrible by any means.
He was flat out weird. Babbled about random topics while in the middle of lessons which was sometimes funny but distracting too. The key is to do the hw and participate to do well. Likeable at times, but also annoying. Take someone else if you can.

he is an average teacher but tends to go on tangents a lot. you need to do all your homework and make sure you participate in his class to get a good grade
Lots of HW, LOTS..if you do it, you will do very well in the class. Participate in class, and go to class because material is tough to understand on your own. No paper, but he gives so much weekly hw.
Class starts off hard then gets easier along the way. His grading system is confusing (i still dnt get it) but he gives you a chance to raise your grade alot. He gives you alot of homework but it is very helpful in understanding the material. He HOLDS A STARE which is freaky.
Not as bad as eevryone says. Tells you howework is optional but you have to participate inc lass to get a good grade and in order to participate you have to do the homework. He is a weird grader but it benefits you in the end. Answer the first question right and its 15 points.
He was weird and boring. Who gives an exam on the syllabus? Seiously take Dr. Kraus instead, all the hype about Kraus is all true, he's the man.
If you can, DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! You will learn nothing in class. He talk about random stuff that is not on the test. Tests are pretty hard, alot of homework! Just stay away from him
easy grade- participate in class theres your grade! talk about tennis or ask how his kids are and your off topic for a good amount of time.. he goes over the material slowly so you understand and he tells you what to write for the essay on the tests and if u dont show up for class u can still get the multi choice
straight up steuch
He is a nice guy, and his classes are interesting sometimes, but it is a lot of confusing work. He isnt clear about assignments and the formats of the test, his notes are unstructured and i reccoment getting a tape recorder. All in all he is nice and helpful, but you gotta keep up with the work and reading court cases and writing briefs
Good teacher. Very nice and made a boring topic much more interesting. Pretty easy class just do the cases and be prepared for class. Tests are easy your essay is worth 100 points but you have the chance to get up to like 150 points so the essay is an easy grade.
you can tell when he doesn't like someone in the class, but he was my favorite prof. this semester. he made the class very interesting and he is, from what i can tell, fairly intelligent.
One of the brightest teachers I've had at Pace, with a great desire to mentor students. Unique, for sure, but has a desire to make us laugh and learn, and most of all learn to think analytically.
He is an excellent teacher, makes the material clear, and has a very fair grading system. However, he is a little eccentric and you have to be prepared to let it roll off of you.
Really clear teacher. Effort is compensated. If you do all the assignments and come prepared to class, this class is an "easy" A. In addition, this class is quite interesting. I HATED law before. He made me change my opinion.
great professor. extremely knowledgeable in the subject. there can be a lot of homework but it is worth doing bc he makes it interesting. makes his grading system fair so that if you don't do as well on a test, you still have a chance at a great grade in the class.
His homework is time consuming but doing the briefs and problems actually help you alot in preparation for the test. He is willing to help you and is unbiased. His participation grading system is a bit weird but it benefits you in the end. His 3-4 tests are split into 2 parts and he drops the lowest part. He is a fair grader and very knowledgeable!
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! Yes, we use the textbook, but only for it's problems, not its information. The only information you need to know is what comes out of his mouth which is nothing because he spends half the class talking bout nothing and 10 min for tons of info. Hes very unclear and will leave u confused for exams. Hard A, but i got it. AVOID PLEASE
He is the best professor ever! he is actually interested in you learning and will help you understand if you dont. Please take him if you care for law or if you want to learn. Those who rate him bad just expect to get As easily instead of ACTUALLY working for their grades.
We use the textbook for problems. Get the online version. He dosent take attendance, but if he calls on you and you are not there you will lose points. If you dont mind writing, a bit of a strange sense of humor, and general disorganization, take him! Behind his flaws he is a very intelligent teacher, and will reward effort when he recognizes it.
Getting a good grade in his class is difficult but the key is to 1. Read ALL HIS HANDOUTS everything is based on them, they outline exactly what he wants 2. Participate! (its a HUGE part of your final grade and points r deducted every time u say 'pass'). 3) DO THE HW! Also, meet w him frequently in office hrs and see how ur doing (he loves that)!
Mr. Wiener is a great teacher. He gives 3 exams and grades attendance. You'll do great as long as you study and come to class.
an okay teacher and interesting class but if you expect the guy to ever let you finish a sentence, you're sadly mistaken. And don't expect him to pass up an opportunity to make a stupid joke … and then laugh at it himself.
If I could have given him a -50 for clarity I would have. He's allllllllll overrrrrrr the placeeeeee. His lectures are unfocused and hard to followHe couldnt be LESS HELPFUL. he gives no concrete notes.. he acts like we have no other classes.. just plain annoying. I wish I never would have taken this class. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASSSSSSSSSSSSES
Robert Wiener is a nice guy, and that's about it. He is probably one of the worst teachers I've ever had in my entire career as a student. He's very unorganized (we had our first exam about 4 weeks before the final) and he's a complete mess when he tries to give a lecture. Take someone else if you can and save yourself the trouble.
He makes stupid jokes all throughout class. Tests are difficult but essays are easy on tests. Participation is based off of answers you give to this questions referring to parts of the law. take him if you want to but don't expect much.
Avoid if you can. You have to work extremely hard, probably for a B. He loves the sound of his own voice and will ramble on while everyone is on his or her phone or laptop. Very unclear during his lectures, and his tests are hard. One of our tests covered 7 chapters. It's a shame because the course material is very interesting.
Honestly the worst professor I've ever had. Wiener's class was a waste of time, and he failed to cover many topics that other Law 101 professors covered. I left this class feeling like I wasted 3 credits. This professor gets off topic A LOT, asking questions is an uphill battle because he will cut you off or tell you your question are irrelevant.
I had him for UNV 101 and wanted to pull my hair out. Really stubborn guy. Does not let you finish a sentence even when you are asking a question. Needs to hear his own voice 247. I found it rude and obnoxious. Again, I didn't even have him for a real course and I can't imagine what that would be like... yikes.
He's the worst. He's disrespectful to students and has a 'unique' grading system that changes all the time. Stay on top of him if you hope to pass.
Amazing professor! A lot of review are negative about him however he is extremely passionate about what he does and is a very fair grader. I was surprised on how easy of an A his class was. Furthermore he made me interested in law. Pace is very lucky to have someone teach undergrad law who came from a top 10 law school like NYU law. Will take again
Very clear grading rubric. The course is pretty difficult but if you participate and listen in class you'll do fine. He makes business law very interesting.
disrespectful to students and calls on people all the time to read their analysis. If you get something wrong he points out right away and asks you why you wrote that, which could be unfair for students who worked hard on their case study because they haven't finished talking yet!! He also has his special grading system that changes all the time.
He is awful. He spends most of class talking about everything else except law. When he finally starts to teach, he reteaches what he taught the first day of class. He gives little to no new information. He prepares tests but you never really know what they are going to be on.
Great guy, horrible professor. Always goes off topic. That leads to not having enough time to cover all the material, so the class was very rushed. You also must participate, it is a huge part of your grade in this class, however he will always shoot you down no matter what you say, so be prepared to cry every time you open your mouth.
He is disrespectful, rude and will cut off anyone who tries to ask questions. This class is a waste of time all he does is go off on rants that are completely off topic. There is no clear grading system your final grade is up to him don't trust what the syllabus says. International Law is worth learning about but take a different professor.
Great teacher, you'll do well if you pay attention in class, study the material he provides, and participate in class.
He is the most annoying professor I have ever had. He constantly talks about being Jewish and his family. Does not go over material so you do not even know what he is going to test you on exams. Do not sit in front row or he will spit on you. Grading rubric is absolute ass.
Unorganized, disrespectful, and a bad teacher. He knows law, but the way he teaches it is confusing and not effective. You really have to self learn in this class, or you will fail. And he is lazy, there is no grading on any papers so you do not know if you do well. And right now it is December 30th, and I have not received my final grade yet.
He definitely makes you work for the A but it was worth it. The homework was not necessarily mandatory but if you didn't do them, you were unprepared for the tests. The grading is straight forward and I definitely enjoyed taking this class.
He is very confusing. I understood very little of that class that he taught- very self taught. I ended up doing well but I'm pretty sure he graded solely on participation because he said there would be no curve but I got an A- and failed a two parts of the 4 parts that were graded. Homework isn't mandatory though. Just don't take law with him.
Overall an educated and caring professor. Very lecture heavy, and his tests are mostly based on what he said in class, so take notes. Since hw is not mandatory, the final grade is based on your participation and test grades, he does give out curves, but in his own way. Easy A- if you actually put in the work and effort, instead of whining about him
Horrible Professor. Talks over students, will jump at any op. to give you a bad grade. Would give a zero if I could. Great class if you want to work hard and earn a bad grade.
Every test you take you will not get above a B. his questions are extremely difficult and you will always get them wrong. My friend's dad is a partner at a law firm and I talk to him the questions and even he is like these questions should be easier for you guys. You will study for hours and still fail the multiple choice section.
questions are incredibly hard, you will study for hours and still do bad. Steer very clear from this professor.
Class is only based off of three tests, that he splits into six grades. Classes are basically filled with talking about meaningless other things and going off tangent. your last 30 minutes of class you will spend rapidly going through the homework, you will get the test and be confused. There is no review for anything.
Spends entire class talking about irrelevant things, spends last half an hour going through homework rapidly. You just gloss over material, but the exams will hit you and you will do horrible. Great class for stressing and receiving a bad grade.
Steer VERY VERY clear. Wasted class times, talking about irrelevant topics. Have fun teaching yourself all the case studies, and taking the test and almost failing it.
You have to do case studies pretty frequently, but you gloss over them so quickly during class that you do not really have a clear understanding. You will spend precious class time taking about meaningless other things that are totally unrelated to law. There is no review for the tests. You never really get a clear answer to your questions either.
Tests are not really clear. Most people in this class are required to take it as accounting majors. However, the first day we were told the class was not styled to prep for the CPA. Your essay's will always get ripped apart. Class time is used for other things unrelated, no exam review either. I would take with another prof.
Too many hours studying for an average grade on the tests. Bad use of class time, and did not like the attitude of the professor. Kids are put down for wrong answers all the time. Steer clear and best to find another class to take.
I took this class as a required course, just like everyone else in that class. The whole class is based off of material that you typically don't even learn until you get to law school. You should NOT be writing briefs in a 101 class. He never answered any serious questions regarding material. Way too difficult for a 100 level, intro course.
Way too hard for an introductory coarse. You already have to write a brief on the first day of class. The way he teaches the classes are boring and useless. It will be extremely difficult to get an A for this class.
This has been one of the most condescending professors I have ever had. I thought he was nice at first, but he is so awful that it hurts. His class was painful to tune into. Boring & useless. He also expects you to read his mind when asking questions. The exams are the worst I've ever had to take. They are unorganized, sloppy, and are anti-student
Horrible class, this man should NOT be a professor. He just doesn't teach any material and then suddenly makes you write a brief. I transferred to a different law class 3 weeks into the semester and had an amazing experience with an intelligent professor who actually taught the class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ITS A COMPLETE JOKE
WARNING: Worst law class ever DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM he isnt clear about what he wants us to do. Makes us get the textbook just to tell us that we cant study from it. His notes make no sense at all, he grades super weird there is no consistency. Gave me the lowest grade I have every gotten in my life( below 40)for an essay & I actually studied.
The worst professor Ive had at Pace University thus far. He forces you to write a brief on the first day of class with limited instruction, and rips each and every assignment to pieces - the toughest grader and he is never consistent. I received the lowest score on an essay in my life - low 30s. Your grade is literally defined by 3 tests.
brooo!!!!!!! I just started this class online and I already cannot stand it. On the first day he assigned us a case brief without even telling us how to do it. It's only my 3rd week in this class but I am already over it. He told us that we will be sharing our screens in this class and like for what homie? He is very disorganized and expects a lot.
He takes forever to answer questions, some classes are unnecessary because he does not talk about anything relating to the topic of the week or the given homework. This is Law 1, so no one knows about law & we should be learning about it right? No, he expects us to know how to write LAW briefs and papers w/ law vocal words we never heard of.
Ridiculous. Write a case brief and get a literal 20 on it. You won't be able to come back from it because your whole grade is based off of three essays. Forget about the midterm, as the whole class does bad. He always goes off topic, and starts telling us stories that do not relate to class material. Have fun spending hours on homework to get a 60
Man! Good Luck with this course! Probably one of the worst courses I have ever taken at Pace (that and tax) Have fun writing insane course briefs, only to get horrible grades on them. Don't understand something? Neither does anyone else or the professor. The only way to get a decent grade is to be one of his favorites.
The only reason our class passed was because of Covid. This class was a horrible experience. Have fun getting your reports torn apart, and getting criticized (not in a positive way) in front of the entire class by the professor. Have fun spending hours on your reports only to get 40''s on them.
Please save yourself and avoid this course. If you are looking for a sign not to take this course, this is it! Even if this course works 100% with your schedule and is your only option, please wait and take another course! Whatever you do, do not take this class. You will spend hours on homework only to get torn apart in front of the entire course.
Absolutely horrible professor, Dont know how he even calls himself one. No drinking or eating in class, you cant leave for br or he marks you absent. Doesnt give assistance or guidance in class, doesnt like questions. Expects you to know how to do everything on your own. Doesnt believe in traditional teaching - rambles about nonsense, excuses.
I wasted time and energy on a class that I pay (a lot of) money for. During class, and in every class, he goes off on random subjects that do not pertain to the subject of what we are there for. It is all irrelevant and not something that will help in the long run. He is a joke of a professor so do yourself a favor and do NOT take him!!!!
Prof. Wiener, although a nice guy, is simply not good at his job. He assigns homework that he doesn't teach you how to do, doesn't grade it until the last week of class, and then berates you for not doing it correctly. His class is strictly based participation, but he doesn't allow Zoom or even general questions about the topic.
Found this class to be insulting to Pace students. We who are paying money for this class get to hear about random tangents, listen to the professor disrespect fellow students and fail tests. The amount of time I’ve seen him tear students apart for their answers. So not worth it. Take another professor and save yourself the trouble.
This class is the worst class I have ever been in. He only puts in 13 grades total, and they're based on participation from each of the classes in the semester. He also grades you based on attendance. On top of this, he doesn't allow any student to speak/ask questions. It's 3 weeks from the end of the semester and we have none of our grades.
I'm about to finish my degree and this person is far and away the worst educator I have ever seen. It is absolutely ABSURD that they receive a salary for teaching the way they do, and a literal scam by Pace University to charge students to take his class. He doesn't grade until the end of the semester, he's rude, and is completely incompetent.
NO TESTS!! grading is participation based, if you participate maybe twice in class you get full points. volunteering gives you more points. he interrupts a lot, but he's not a bad professor. lectures a lot but content is helpful. homework is heavy sometimes. pay attention and participate. grades won't come until the end of the semester tho.
It's not even a month in with Professor Wiener and I feel scared for myself. He expects us to do a case brief when he hasn't even taught a lesson about it. It just seems like he expects us to know what to do when most of us are business students learning and taking a required course apart of our pace path. He can't give clear answers to questions.
he does not teach at all and goes on lectures about random things and then complains about wasting class time when a student gives the wrong answer. very disrespectful and interrupts almost every student's answer. you are expected to read the textbook (which he does not lecture about) and doesn't give grades in time for us to correct our mistakes.
Graded solely on participation. No tests at all. He assigns weekly case briefs/problem cases. Then in class, he will go down the attendance sheet, quizzing people on the lesson &/or chapter. He's a slow grader but his class isn't really that hard. You just have to prepare yourself to be put on the spot & know the material he assigned.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
He is not a terrible professor, I feel like I've had worse. He is a very smart man, and people hate on him but if answer a question or two, you will get full points and you get extra points for volunteering. If you get the answer wrong he will correct you for like 5 minutes and go off on a tangent, but you will still get points.
The professor assigns cases every week and is very knowledgeable about what he's teaching. He also tends to relate the cases to current events which was very interesting and helps you understand it a little better. Overall, a great and hilarious professor! I couldn't imagine taking this class with a different professor.
Will mark you absent if you go to the bathroom during class.
He does not have tests which is the only plus but you will work hard in every other way. His grading system is flawed (the whole seven point system). Make sure to participate at least two times or else you're not going get enough points for the week. Truly do not recommend him. Beware.
Please, why is he still teaching at Pace? He humiliates students and has no respect for anyone, yet he wants to be respected.
I absolutely loved Professors Wiener's teaching style. He graded solely on participation, including attendance, and a small homework grade. As long as you showed you paid attention and were attempting to understand the material, you will receive a good grade. He makes it easy to participate though can be intimidating at times.
I like this teacher a lot. I am a freshman . I am taking his class right now . He is very engaging.
If you have accommodations I would not recommend this class. When I told him I was approved for extensions through the SDS he said this would not work in his class and suggested I sign up for a different section, but they were all full. After our conversation, I was too worried he wouldn't comply so I had to drop the class. He was so dismissive.
He grades heavily on participation, but you don't get points for answering wrong and he makes it hard to want to talk. He can be very stern. He doesn't teach you how to do the homework he just gives you a document. I honestly don't know how he hasn't been reported. If he was more willing to have open discussions this would be a good class.
I actually cannot express how strongly I advise you to not take his class. It was the worst class I have ever taken. I was put down for asking questions and getting points off for answering a question wrong. My roommate is studying law and couldn't believe in a 101 class he assigned us a case brief on week one with no time class spent discussing it
As long as you talk in class, you will receive a good grade. Yes, if you get a question wrong, he will go on for five minutes about it, but it's temporary embarrassment, and he will still give you points, plus all your classmates are going through the same thing, so you are in it together. Just talk a minimum of twice, and you will be fine. Easy A!
this guy is so rude. 80% of ur grade is participation but he is so mean. none of the other business law profs r good either. if ur a freshman u can take this course at a community college or diff uni for credit before u reach (I think) 60 credits. i HIGHLY recommend doing this - talk to ur advisor about it cuz this is the worse class I've taken
He's really not a bad professor compared to what the other past reviews have said. He's funny and wants the best out of everyone and encourages people to try. The class is all participation and there's no tests so that's good! He's very blunt but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Overall, it was a good class and he's a pretty good teacher!
I was petrified after the first day, as most of your grade is based on homework and participation, but I ended up loving this class. It feels like he is being hard on you when you answer questions, but he is pushing you to be clear in your answers and understand the material. Overall, he wants to see you do well and is a good professor.
doesnt grade anything until the end of the year so u could be failing and not know hes so rude and dismissive. do not take his class get a different professor
this is my first rate my professor comment, so that should show how much I disliked his class. He's a sweet man, but his lack of structure and preparedness affects students. He only grades at the end of the term, and his homework expectations are unclear. If you're someone who likes to yap for 3 hours about an off-topic, this is the class for you.
There are no exams or projects—grades are based on participation, homework, and attendance. However, it's not an easy A. You must come prepared to actively contribute, as the class is taught using the Socratic method and he often challenges your answers to deepen your understanding. He also takes your 10 highest weekly grades.
There are no exams or projects, grades are based on participation, homework, and attendance. However, it's not an easy A. He often goes off topic with irrelevant rants, he'll never directly answer a question, provides little to no feedback on homework, and does not post grades until the end of the semester leaving students unsure of their standing.
he talks for most of class about unrelated tangents. Nothing connects to the material. He won't let anyone leave—he'll call you out even if you're coughing or need water. The environment feels tense, restrictive, and not supportive for learning.
He's a sweet professor, but when it comes to lecture, he is a tough grader because he believes that participation shows students actually reading the book and chapter that he wants us to read. However, sometimes when he asks questions, it is vague, so you have to wonder and think critically about what answer he wants you to give him.
enjoys rambling about random things. make sure to participate EVERY week. if u don't, good luck trying to get an A in the class. there's pretty much no point of doing hw since it's only 1 point per week. put in grades late and seems like he hates his students.
