His notes are very structured, organized, and clear, which is nice, however, his FINAL is crazy!! There is no way to remember all that info, and his questions are too detailed. Overall, nice guy and good professor. Willing to help if asked!
Class is very organized and structured. He's a great teacher because he's so organized. His exams are extremely tough in this class so be prepared! They are ALL essays!!! And the final is CUMULATIVE!
This is possibly the best professor CNU's business school has to offer. Very smart and intelligent. Wants sveryone to do well. The tests are very long though.

Perhaps dull, but very clear and concise. Take the notes, go to class and study them!
Not enough grades to do well, understandable but boring and hard, not too much work, though.
Explains in simple terms, and then the tests are nothing like what he talks about, don't bother with class, do the study guide
I had him twice a week, extremely boring classes, not a lot of homework but you gotta study..its hard
very helpful. nice personality and wants everyone to do well. laughs at himself too much-dorkish. but very smart professor.
Class can get very boring. He gives curves on tests if the grades aren't good. Only three tests and a final so if you mess up one test, it's hard to come out of the class with anything higher than a C. Short answer on test are usually a graph ananlysis.
Goofy, but very clear and easy to understand. He is very organized and a nice guy. The notes cover the important parts of tests, and his occasional short homework assignments cover the diagram/essay part of the tests. RECOMMENDED
He is a little dorky. He makes such lame jokes they are funny. But he gives hard tests, but just outline the chapters and you will get a good grade. Do the homework, and you will do fine. He is an awesome lecturer! I learned a lot!
He's obviously truely interested in the subject, and has professional experience in the field, to boot! Very organized, explains thoroughly, and truly interested in helping students. Tests are extremely long & difficult, ATTEND CLASS, TAKE *GOOD* NOTES!
Good teacher. Teaches well but laughs at himself an aweful lot. Classes can get quite boring at times, but make sure you don't miss any. Everything on the test is mentioned in his lectures. Tests aren't too bad if you study for them.
It's clear he loves what he teaches and goes out of his way in class to help everyone. But he doesn't always understand questions asked of him so make it clear what you don't understand. He's a good teacher, GO TO CLASS. You won't pass if you don't
Great Teacher. So helpful always wants everyone to do well on the test. Test arnt that hard the test is straight from the notes so study and you will do fine. CLass is pretty boring but he makes some jokes and is really nice
Great econ professor. Easy to understand, puts everything in layman's terms. Tests are kinda hard, just study notes and skim the chapters and you'll do fine. Its worth taking his class just to hear his laugh = )
Nice guy. He talks about random stuff during class & laughs at it. His information is straight forward, & he tries to make it applicable. Occasional homework is easy. Tests are Mult. choice & short answer, but TRICKY! The notes are good material, but the wording makes the questions difficult.
Great teacher, good at explaining the information and knows it well enough to explain the**** out of it, do your participation work and go to class, its an easy B, not hard to get an A
Had him for ECON 201 as well. Tends to be boring. Makes silly jokes but doesn't care if he feels stupid. Makes everything very easy to understand. Limited homework. 3 tests & final. Tests are tricky. Go to class and take good notes then you will do well. Don't need the book either.
"Are, are, are you with me?" Oh my god if I heard that one more time I was going to go postal! Stutters sometimes-DONT take him in the morning! Class is easy- but tests are so much harder than he explains in class!
this class is difficult even for finance majors, but if you go to class, take notes, and ask questions you'll be ok. study hard!! he may say he asks broad questions, but that's a lie, know your****!
Wonderful teaching, a bit borring but go class take notes and tough it out use the study guide that comes with the book to study its really helpful. Great guy who really cares :)
Nice guy, theres no doubt, but hard to follow and really boring. The only laughs are ones that follow his vary differant quirky laugh, and it gets old fairly fast. No complaints in the grading, though he doesnt give study guides, just what to read. Also get used to never leaving early.
"Lemme, lemme ask you this..", "are you with me?" if you wanna hear this repeated over and over about 50 times then take the class. his laugh just makes you laugh AT him, not with him. sooo boring..tests are so detailed than what he goes over in class..but curves the tests. not too bad, just really boring
got an A in 201, love econ - hate his class. the man is no more entertaining than a brick, his tests are absolutely IMPOSSIBLE, he curves them - but even with that, it's not a whole lot of help when everyone gets Fs anyway. stutters like no other, laughs at his own jokes constantly, & makes me want to throw myself out the window. dont take him.
the worst professor i have EVER had. isnt willing to help, unclear, boring, and not the brightest crayon in the box. i would avoid him at all costs-your GPA will suffer... I got As in AP Econ in HS, and in 201 and i got an fing D+ in his class and because of his inability to teach i have to take it over... waste money and time. horrible teacher.
idiot. doesn't take time to review the test after he makes it up the last minute. so tests are horribly made. can't teach worth****. and becuase of one poorly made test that over half the class failed, i have to retake the class becuase i can't apply to the business school
"... HAHAHA okay" "this isn't magic people, im not pulling rabbits out of a hat" aahhhh lots of little quotes and i think hes in love with the author of the book. tests are hard, takes attendance every single class period, NEVER lets you out early. no paper just 3 tests and a final. homework about once every two weeks. not highly recommended
The previous comments are not true. If you're a bright student who attends class regularly, does all homework, and actually wants to LEARN, he's the man! If you're a slacker and want the easy way out...avoid him b/c he will make you work. It's worth taking him if you plan on majoring in business. I majored in math and got B's in both his classes.
Takes attendance so you have to go to class. Test are hard if you dont study and make the effort. Great teacher really knows what he is talking about and wants everyone to understand. Go to class do homework and study and youll get a B
The most boring teacher I've had in college. Does nothing but lecture for the entire class. Hard to follow and not great at explaining things. Very knowledgable, but thinks everyone is as smart as he is. Tests are impossible, and doesn't review for them. Also doesn't review for the final, but will curve tests. I Do not recommend him at all.
Took 202 before 201, which helps a lot. At least briefly read the book, major concepts. He talks a lot but is very clear as he'll go over a topic 5 times. Free response is easy but MC will get you if you don't read. Do homework (there isn't much).
This class is def. a hard class but I think Winder does a great job teaching it. He has always cared about his students espically if you so effort. Study the tests are hard :)
THE MOST BORING PROFESSOR AT CNU...ok his tests are hard and he tries to trick you...but they arent as hard as people will tell you...study because he won't help you to prepare for any test even the final...all in all show up, participate, do the homework and you'll get a B
Ignore all of these crazy people that say he horrible.. he is a great guy and if you ask him for help in class or outside it he will help you I PROMISE he will I know because I used to ask him for help in both 202 and 423 He is a great proffessor
Very good professor. Tests are a little challenging, but if you do the assigned readings then it greatly helps. Gives easy assignments that are 10% of your grade, which helps you if you actually do them. He is very thorough in his explanations and actually speaks english! Will help you out at any time. Great guy, I highly recommend him.
Great teacher. Had him for an 8am class. He's a little quirky but He teaches very well. He follows the book and teaches very clearly. I would take him again.
Winder gets a bad wrap. His class is a little boring but, he was extremely helpful. The subject mat. is difficult but he makes his assigments crystal clear and if you have ANY problems he will take as much effort as possible to help you. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
Dr. Winder is an awesome professor! He repeats himself a lot, but it really helps you to learn the material. ECON 202 is kind of a hard class, but he makes everything easy to understand.
Teacher and class were difficult and boring. Try to take a different professor if you can. If you don't do good on the tests then goodluck passing the class. You are given hw assignments which don't really help and not much of your grade. Sit toward the front of class bc he doesn't speak loud.
The textbook for this class is pretty blah. I would read it and not have a clue what was going on, but then I came to class and Dr. Winder explained it so well. He is a great prof. He will repeat himself but it is beneficial because it really helps you learn the material.
One of the nicest men I've ever met. "Haha...OK" This class really isn't hard. He takes attendance, so I would go, but your complete attention is not required. Just make sure you get down what he puts on the board and read the chapters before the test. Basically just four tests and some homework assignments that are graded satisfactory or unsat.
Dr. Winder is the best professor ive had at CNU. It is not easy to get an A, however getting a B very easy. He is very clear with what will be on the test, and always reiterates the most important facts. If you want to learn a lot about economics than he is the professor for you!
Most boring class I've taken so far at CNU. Class notes are somewhat helpful, as he certainly repeats himself over and over...However, the tests do not match the caliber of the class. Basically only 4 grades. All in all, if you dislkike econ & teaching yourself, this is not the professor for you.
Econ is a hard subject, but Dr. Winder does his best to try to help you understand. He talks about the book a lot, and he gives assignments based on the chapters. All the assignments are graded Unsatisfactory or Satisfactory, so they're easy. Tests are kind of hard. Be sure to study.
Management of Financial Institutions is a pretty hard class. LOTS of material to remember for each test, sometimes almost too specific. Dr. Winder takes attendance every class (not sure how it affects your grade though). Research paper was okay if you paid attention in class. Take notes on everything he repeats and you'll do fine. GO TO CLASS!
this class was awesome. it was interesting and not very hard.
Professor Winder is without a doubt the best professor I have had while at CNU. He cracks corny jokes that make the whole class laugh which makes the time go by very fast. He does really well at explaining the information. It is a hard class mainly because of the sheer amount of information. Awesome guy, awesome professor.
He literally is the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't write anything on the board and when he says something important he says it too fast. His tests are pretty hard and he grades terribly.
If you actually try at all in this class, youll do well. Do the written assignments he gives you, they help. TAKE NOTES- he repeats things that are important. Skim the textbook, and make sure you understand the concepts he went over. If you do that, and study everything for the tests, theyre easy. He curved every one for us. He's a sweet guy.
Winder is a very helpful and clear professor. His class will bore you to tears but as long as you do the assignments and listen in class the tests are pretty easy.
Very good professor, tough grader. Prepare to read the book inside and out. Lectures are interesting and he gives his own notes/thoughts to you. Do not skip class. Tests are difficult, but if you read the book you can/will do well. Not a class that you can wing. If you really want to learn the subject I do recommend him. One HW/reading weekly.
One of the best professors at CNU. Very clear cut guy - you show up for class and put in the effort outside of class, you will do well. Course matter isn't easy but he helps to make it more understandable by providing his own notes and attempts to present it in a more pragmatic fashion. Awesome guy and is always willing to help out.
He's a super sweet guy, and wants you to succeed. But if you don't read the book and pay attention to everything he says, you will fail every single test. He's super old school and his tests truly reflect that. Going to his office hours helps, but it's still a tough class, especially if you are only taking it because of the university requirement.
I had him once a week 6 to 9pm so he gave lectures the entire class, but they make sense. He is the head of the Economics departments so he is teaching what actually matters. As long as you listen to the lectures and take notes and do the homework you should be fine.
Probably one of the best professors at CNU in my opinion. He has a real passion for the subject that shows every single day in his teaching. This class presents challenging material, but Dr. Winder is great at explaining it by using real world examples and explaining his own thought process behind his understanding of the material. Very sweet man.
Dr. Winder is peculiar in behavior but in a way that grows on you. He's very repetitive of things he is expecting to test you on, which is great when the material is confusing and you don't want to miss it. Seriously repeats relevant information like four times in a row. He is also one of the most agreeable people I've ever met in my life.
Dr. Winder makes this subject very accessible. The class was 6-9pm and he lectures the entire time. Exams are tough, but if you study well you'll do fine. Weekly homework questions which are graded for participation and effort. Very helpful during office hours. This class made me decide to minor in econ, highly recommend!
Dr. Winder is by far the best professor Ive had at CNU. Yes his class is tough but so is the material. He is very clear with what he expects, very fair, and tries to award credit where its earned. Its a tough class but its very interesting. My favorite class so far here and favorite teacher. Dont be scared of the challenge it is well worth it.
Winder was a really great professor considering I have never been very interested in Economics. Lectures are always structured really well with him highlighting certain points that he will test on.
Spent most of class talking about the reading, with an occasional econ lesson thrown in. Does not give study guides or almost any guidelines on the course paper. Grades gently, but gives vague feedback. Short-answer tests are a lot of writing. Do the reading, give detailed answers to weekly hw questions, be prepared to participate in discussion.
Papers on weekly readings as homework; however, you seem to always get a 95 if you know what you are doing.
This was a 90 student lecture - Professor Winder is used to teaching a much smaller group of students. I imagine that with a smaller teacher to student ratio he would be an above average professor.
Doesn't understand that some people have no prior knowledge of economics and expects you to understand basic concepts coming in. Not very good at answering questions. Lectures are very boring and were not helpful. I basically had to teach myself everything by reading the book. Goes too fast for you to write stuff down.
I am a biology student taking an econ class for University requirement. He is my saving grace. Lectures are structured well and review material is provided for exams. Some questions on the exams are pulled directly from review.
Dr. Winder is very knowledgeable and is there if you need any help. If you haven't taken an econ class before, this course is challenging but you will still do fine. I suggest reading the online textbook after listening to his lecture. He only gives 4 exams (so don't miss any). The exam are difficult so study hard right before them!
The exams are incredibly difficult and the lectures are very hard to follow along with. The class is lecture heavy and the grade is composed primarily of 3 exams and the final. The exams require numerous hours of studying before hand. Dr. Winder is incredibly knowledgeable in the field, just tough to follow along with
Very dry and boring lectures. No study guides provided for any of the exams. The exams are difficult. I read the chapters again before each test and they were still difficult. He doesnt do anything to help students prepare for exams. He makes the course harder than it needs to be. He is knowledgeable but it is not an enjoyable class.
Pay attention to the lectures and make sure to read the textbook or you won't pass any of the exams basically. He's pretty hard to understand but make sure to ask questions when you need to
Very nice prof. Class only has 4 grades (25% per exam). Everything is "mission-critical" and he laughs at his own jokes which makes me laugh. Nice guy, but boring class. Says the same example 50 times until someone acknowledges him. Exams are ok, but definitely study. Boring class overall, but good if you need to fulfill econ requirement
Professor Winder is a very nice man but his class was way too hard. Your grade is made up of 4 exams 25% each. There is no homework and no extra credit opportunities. You do poorly on one exam and it's so hard to make a comeback.
Okay, im gonna be totally honest. Never take this class, ever. The only grades in the class are 4 tests throughout the semester. His lectures make me want to fall asleep every time. This is the worst class I have ever taken.
He is really boring. The only grades that go into the grade books are the exams, and there are only 4 exams for the semester. If u can pick someone else for this course, do it.
ECON201 was difficult largely for one reason; it was graded solely on exams. That sounds kind of scary but if you prepare by going over the chapters in the textbook, memorizing key terms, and using the worksheets he gives you, then you will be well prepared for each of the four exams. He is super helpful regarding questions and office hours too.
He is a very sweet man, but his lectures are boring and are taken straight from the textbook. There are required assignments for each chapter but they don't count for anything. The only grades in the class are four exams that have multiple choice and free response questions. This class was really hard to understand.
you will not pass if you don't study, read, do the homework, go to every class, go to tutoring and office hours. four test total very difficult he loved the topic of macro, but he can get ahead of himself because he is so passionate. I would be scared to retake him just because I'm not a good test taker. Tests are multiple choice and short answer.
Tough course, but worth it if you put in the work. Professor Winder's lectures can be dry, but his teaching style works well if you stay engaged. The Unstuckstudy platform was a game-changer for exam prep.
