Bro. Wright is such a good teacher! He explains things well, and really keeps things interesting. His tests are kind of hard, but he curves a LOT. He's organized, consistent, and funny. Not a lot of homework; just a small project every week, and three tests in the semester.
Brother Wright is awesome! He does his best to make his class interesting and he succeeds. The weekly psychology activities aren't too much work and can actually be fun to do. You have to study pretty hard for the tests, but that's the hardest part of the class. Definitely a good pick for a psychology teacher.
Brother Wright is super helpful. He really cares about his students and their learning. He made Cognition interesting! Definitely take a class from him if you can. He's one of the best professors.
Dont go to class there is no point, the activities are super easy, the tests are impossible and worth a lot of the grade so you need to study hard but he curves it. overall easy to do well
Such a great teacher. He made the class so interesting. He would call on people on random a lot to "teach" which gave me a panic attack every time. His test are ridiculously hard. I studied for weeks and still didn't pass. However he does curves them. Great teacher, I would take him again!
Bro. Wright is a great professor! You can tell that he loves psychology and he loves to teach! He does a lot of activities that help you really remember the things taught in class. There isn't a lot of homework and the tests aren't too bad. If you want to get a good grade I suggestion reading the text before class and go to every class period!
Brother Wright's lectures just skim the surface of the text and his tests are very in depth and concept based. Tough tests! Class attendance is a must for good test grades. I liked the class overall, but I came away from the tests mad because he doesn't teach the way he tests. I enjoyed the activities but your grade is based mostly on three tests!
Bro. Wright is pretty good about lecturing off of a slide. That is about it. He doesn't teach for test success. His tests have a lot of WHAT IS MORE CORRECT type questions. Most questions that expand on the topic he doesn't know the answer to. During lecture he even confuses concepts making him hard to follow. Good luck.
He is a very good teacher but his tests are horribly hard. He usually curves them. You have assignments once a week and you need to do well on them if you aren't the best test taker. He's very nice and loves what he teaches.
He makes the material memorable through stories and experiences. Class is so much fun to go to. The tests are more on the application of the material rather than the material itself so those are tough, but he does curve them. Weekly activities help you apply more psychology and help you learn in a way you learn best. Great teacher. Great class.
Best Professor I have ever had at BYUI. Bro. Wright's class is exceptional, he is an amazing professor and he does an amazing job of teaching with the spirit and motivating you to always do your best!
He kinda looks like Barney from How I Met Your Mother minus the blond hair. He is interesting. He puts a lot of effort into his class and his jokes. He has my vote.
Bro. Wright is seriously the best. So sincere and funny. He prays for all his students and is willing to help whenever. You have weekly group quizes, and only 3 exams. He's genuinely a great guy and cares about all his students.
Such a sincere and genuine guy. Cares about all his students. SUPER nice and easy to talk to. Happy. We had weekly group quizzes and only 3 exams. Loved Brother Wright!
Brother Wright is an amazing teacher. He really tries to learn all the students names, and right from day 1 you can tell he cares about the students. Like any class, it's easier if you actually show up. The readings are massive, but you'll get by fine if you just read the powerpoint notes he posts on ILearn. He's awesome.
Such a great professor! Very passionate about Psychology and he makes class so fun to be in. You definitely need to go to class because the exams are interesting. His exams are kind of confusing and I got about a 74-80 on each one and he curves them a lot. I still ended up with an A in the class.
Brother Wright cares about all his students and does his very best to help them excel. His tests are not easy, but if you study a moderate amount and attend classes, you can definitely get an A. His main focus is on learning how to apply knowledge, rather than memorization. One of the best teachers I have ever had!
I loved brother Wrights class. He is one of the single best teachers i have ever had. the only people who ever have problems with him are those who refuse to use the textbook or skip a lot of classes. He will help you. if you try to go to class and make an honest attempt to read you will do well.
Brother Wright is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered! He is always willing to help his students and genuinely wants what is best for each of them. He will make you work for the grade you deserve but is always fair.
Brother Wright is honestly one of the best professors I have ever come across. He really cares about his students and always provides excellent feedback. The group quizzes seem overwhelming at the beginning, but you'll soon realize they're actually one of the best parts of his class. Tests are not too bad, just STUDY the quiz questions and slides.
Offers EC. Wants you to succeed. HILARIOUS. group projects actually work. need to read. lots of fun. lives for his students. well structured. lectures are enjoyablehelpful. I was excited to go to class at 8AM. always available outside of class. gave good examples to help learning. knew his expectations. he is the best teacher i have ever had!
BEST PROFESSOR. TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM. he is amazing. Learn a lot, be inspired, test are only worth 30% of your grade and there are only 3 overall. NOT COMPREHENSIVE FINAL. It's a fairly easy class that I learned a TON from. And brother wright is the man. SO...
Brother Wright is very nice! He has an easy-to-follow teaching style and overall seems like he really cares about his students. His tests are kind of hard so it's very beneficial to go to class and really read the book. He gives group quizzes every class which are actually nice because everyone gets to give input.
Brother Wright is by far the most amazing teacher I've ever had. The lectures are fun because there are always videos, activities, and personal stories. He loves the subject and makes it easy to love the class. I almost wish I hadn't gotten an A so I could take it again because it was that amazing. Never even had the desire to skip class!
He's a great guy with a great personality for this kind of class. He really hits the topics well and does a good job at explaining the important topics of psychology. I found that his tests are kinda strange. Some questions are stupid easy and others he makes out of obscure knowledge from the reading. So there's almost no way to prepare.
He knows alot about psychology. I very much enjoyed going to his class. If you pay attention to the lectures, you will do just fine. He tells alot of corny jokes and gets sad when we dont laugh at them. I would definatley take more classes from him.
His weekly quizzes are brutal. His tests are average for the department. He really tries to be available for students. He tries to make what you learn relevent. Some of his grading is abstract. Do more than he says on the projects if you want an A or perfect score. Takes notes on his gospel connections through the semester to study for the final.
Bro. Wright is a fantastic professor! His expectations are very clear and fair. He is very willing to help his students succeed. Very funny teacher. This is a 400 level class so it's a bit difficult compared to lower level classes but for a 400 level class it's not to hard at all. If you go to class and do your reading an A is very achievable.
Great professor, great class. Every Tuesday you take a quiz together with the class. 4 exams are tough, final is over all 4 exams. Lectures are interesting and he does his best to make it interesting. He is funny and ensures that you participates. There is a group project at the end of semester. Also gives a lot of extra credit. NEED TEXTBOOK.
Brother Wright is an awesome guy. He is so passionate about cognition and really cares about his students and their success. His lectures are anything but boring - he is super funny and the material is always interesting. Tests are definitely tough, but doable. Make sure to read the chapters and pay attention in class. I would take this class again
I took Brother Wright for psych111, Cognition, and soon I'll take him for Health Psych. He is hands-down my favorite professor! He is fun, grades fairly, and is very inspirational. He is passionate about the things he teaches, which makes it fun to learn.
Don't do this to yourself. Hes a nice guy but he is very unspecific. Its a very hard class especially for a 100 level class (PSYCH 111) Hes nice and has good intentions but his content in unclear and tests are so ridiculously specific . He gives students lots of reading to do in a very little time to do it. Find another prof for this one.
Brother Wright was super funny, and entertaining during his teachings. You could tell that he genuinely listened to the comments of students, but did not require participation and comments. My one complaint was how he gave a test every single week without fail, and he expected you to fully read the textbook in order to succeed on these tests.
Brother Wright is a teacher that goes above and beyond to ensure you learn something from his classes. He gives heartfelt feedback and does his best to help you understand that you matter. He has vast understanding of his field and expects a lot from you (come prepared so that class is full of insightful discussion). You work to earn your grade.
Brother Wright is amazing. You will learn so much in this class. Also, it's nice because the tests don't make up too much of the final grade. A lot of material is covered, yet the work load is reasonable. I am really impressed with him because he asked for anonymous feedback in the middle of the semester, and he responded to it.
Brother Wright was a great professor! Attendance was mandatory but I always wanted to be there anyway! His discussions are well-leaded and he is very personable. He learned the whole class's names within the first week! Almost always ends on a spiritual note which is a great way to end-with the Spirit. Loved him so much!
No matter how hard you work, your chances of getting an A are slim. His tests are just a matter of luck they have nothing to do with his lectures. He opens tests on Fridays and closes them on Saturdays. You have a project/essay due every Monday and he expects you to read two textbook chapters (75+ pages) a week I wish I was exaggerating DONT DO IT
He seams like he is a good grad school professor but not an entry level professor. He is my hardest class. His tests are insane, nothing to do with the reading and the lectures. Hes a nice guy and all but don't take this class from him. I got a B+ but i am a straight A student. Worked insanely hard but hard work doesn't pay off in this class.
I'm honestly surprised to any negative feedback. He is such a genuine professor and really wants to run the class fairly. Effective Living is a very discussion based course but he always keeps it on track and I learn so much. There's a lot of little assignments here and there but overall it's one of the easiest courses I've taken on campus.
Psych111 students..... dont do this to yourself. Dont do this. just dont. Trust me. DONT DO IT.
I took psych 111 from him. Everyone in my class had negative feelings for him. He expects you to read two chapters a week that's about sixty pages. He has super inconvenient times for everything. Tests over the weekends and every Monday we had an essay due. His lectures put me to sleep.
I love Brother Wright! Hes an amazing teacher and person! His quizzes are extremely difficult and obscure but if you study the text and notes from class and his powerpoints!
Brother Wright is an excellent teacher. He is well versed in the material he is teaching, and he is always willing to answer your questions. He teaches from a PowerPoint, makes jokes in class, and always involves the gospel with each topic. Brother wright is also very passionate about psychology, which has even rubbed off on me. 100% Recommend
This was one of my favorite classes. He is funny and very spiritual. At the end of almost every single class we applied what we learned to the gospel of Jesus Christ. My testimony of Christ and His gospel was strengthened every day in this class because Bro. Wright taught with the Spirit. We watched a lot of videos too! Does expect you to work hard
I am a straight A student and I got a B. Worked my butt off. I would find a new prof for psych111. Hes a nice guy and all but if you care about grades, dont take him.
Bro. Wright is an amazing teacher. He really cared about all the students and it shows. He takes his time making sure the class understands the content and makes it enjoyable to learn. This was easily my favorite class of the semester.
Brother Wright is not a good teacher to take for any Psych class. I honestly wished I would have taken the bad ratings about him more seriously because he did absolutely nothing to help me or my peers. Everyone in my class talked bad about him. He just isn't a good guy
he is very unspecific. Its a very hard class especially for a 100 level class (PSYCH 111) Hes nice and has good intentions but to be honest that's the only good thing about him. His content is so unclear and tests are so ridiculously specific and every test i took there were more than 12 questions where I was like "we never learned this?"
Well it is the beginning of the semester and its safe to say that I am dropping this class because he is the most complicated guy ever. I am a psych major and I understand a lot about psychology and the way that he teaches things are just so complicated and he has made things so much more difficult. Not a very good professor.
Extremely Bias and close minded. Makes inappropriate jokes in class. He inst a good prof at all.
I wish I would have taken the negitive feedback about him more seriously. He is a horrible teacher. I have never been through a more boring class than his.
Why though.
His tests are insane. He times them and wont tell you which ones you got wrong. If you try and put in an insane amount of work you might pull a B. Your chances of getting an A are slim to none. I didnt learn anything in that class either. The way he teaches is very boring.
His tests are so difficult and unpredictable. He often tests on specific details instead of general concepts. He will adamantly not discuss test questions with anyone. If you take this class, do every weekly assignment, because they're worth half a test, and study the readings with your heart, might, mind, and strength; and then brace for a B.
Great professor who made me love a class I didn't think I would. Was great about meeting with me outside of class and giving feedback about tests, assignments, and career choices. He makes you earn your grade and doesn't give As just because you want them; I felt genuinely accomplished every time I got a good grade.
Brother Wright made it fun to learn in his class. There was a fair amount of work, but he grades fairly and will add points to tests if he feels that a topic wasn't covered sufficiently. He's a lot of fun and made the material interesting to learn as well as applicable to life.
Brother Wright is a great professor. We did have weekly assignments due but they were not that hard and applied to what we learned. He teaches by using daily PowerPoint but keeps class lively by telling jokes or stories. The tests were based off of the reading and lectures, but if you go to class and do the test review, the tests are not that bad.
He is a great and caring teachers, but the tests are incredibly hard and sometimes unfair. He usually gives a good curve to make up for it though.
Brother Wright is an awesome instructor! His lectures are great and he's super funny. You can tell he cares about his students. The class had a TON of reading and the exams were pretty hard which I didn't like but I don't necessarily think that's Brother Wright's fault. Tough class, but I would love to take a class from Brother Wright again!
Brother Wright is easily my favorite teacher that I have ever had and would HIGHLY recommend him. He cares about the students, and gets to know you personally. He will even say hi to you in the halls! He was a good example to me as a person, he is just overall an amazing man. He also is a great teacher, and teaches really fun topics. TAKE HIS CLASS
Really awesome teacher, gives lectures everyday but isn't boring. Gave a quiz everyday where he would randomly pick 10 days throughout the semester to grade the quizzes. One of those classes where if you'll benefit most if you do the reading & go to class. Really great teacher!!
Brother Wright is hilarious! There was a lot of reading, but he made the course material interesting, applicable, and fun. Quizzing yourself on the reading and going to class is important if you want to do well. Would definitely take again.
I really enjoyed Brother Wright's lectures. There is reading assigned before each lecture, but Brother Wright makes it pretty fun and enjoyable. Make sure you attend and pay attention in class!
He is a TOUGH grader. I would review material we covered in class by reviewing those sections in the textbook. I would make flashcards from the class slides and I saw the tutor regularly. His exams were very difficult. He helps you learn to think more critically though so I think it is worth it.
Tries to be a good teacher, tough class. Quizzes/tests - very tough, no curve, personal goal to only have one person get an A on each test. Tests come heavily from in class material, but watch out he'll slip ?'s from the book in there when you least expect it. He's a good guy, thinks he's funny, will work with you if you put forth the effort.
Great guy and does a wonderful job of including everyone in the class. Respects all opinions and views. Goes out of his way to encourage and support students to achieve their academic career goals
One of the best professors I've ever had. Cares about the student and will try to answer as many questions as possible. He checks his email often and has even showed content that a student sent him about a topic we were discussing in class. He is very good at communicating and setting understandable expectations.
Brother Wright Is one of the best professors I had! He truly cares about the student and will do his best to answer as many of our questions as possible. He does assign weekly assignments and daily in class quizzes but he has good intentions for our overall success. He has quite the humor and is easily accessible.
He is a really good teacher, he makes sure to explain things well. He covers all the material he needs to in a way that doesn't seem to drag on. Its a not too often that a class seems to take forever to get over.
Brother Wright is an exceptional professor and researcher. He knows his stuff. You have to attend lectures, on-time, in order to get the most out of classes. He gives very personalized feedback and truly cares about his students. I've had him twice and he is excellent.
Brother Wright is a phenomenal teacher! I took Cognition from him and absolutely love the way he teaches. He learns each student's name before class the first day and gets to know every student on a personal level. He teaches in a way that always brings the spirit. Those who find his class hard are those who are afraid to put effort into learning.
DON'T take him if you are worried about grades. DO take him if you care about learning, want to develop good relationships, to be pushed but not broken, and understand the subject. TAKE him if you want to learn how to change your life. SERIOUSLY take him. Grades do not matter in the long run, what you learn does. Thanks Bro Wright! You're the best!
Don't take this class if you want an A. So far, in all my classes in all semesters I have gotten A's. Not in this class. His exams are very hard because the questions are very specific and the multiple choice options seem like they all could be right. The mini quizzes every class are also pretty hard. Save your GPA and take someone else.
If you want an easy A, don't take this class. If you want to learn, enjoy class, and push yourself a bit then take it. Weekly quizzes are given, but you get to work with a group. Tests can be kind of tricky, but go to class, read the chapters, and study the slides. He is upbeat and class is enjoyable. I loved the material and how he taught it.
Brother Wright was honestly a great teacher! Attendance is not mandatory BUT you want to go to class to do well on the exams! Every day you have a quiz he only collects 10, so it'll be random. Exams are not hard review the book, powerpoint, and GO TO CLASS! He was super funny, a little quirky, but overall great guy and really helps you understand!
Really nice professor, good guy with a sense of humor who makes lecture enjoyable to listen to. However, be prepared to read and study a TON if you want to pass - his exam questions are very hard to understand due to the writing. He collects 10 in class quizzes randomly based on the material the class period before, so be prepared before class.
Short end of things is that Professor Wright is AMAZING. He knows the material, he's passionate about it, and he's just an overall great guy. For a major-applicable course like Psych 435 (Health Psychology), he's a great choice (also, he's the only choice right now, so it doesn't really matter :D). You'll learn a ton but expectations are high.
The teacher is always cracking jokes, which lightens the learning atmosphere. This was a very informing class, I learned a lot. You HAVE TO read the Psychology book or else you wont do well on quizzes and/or tests. Dont skip class or your grade will be greatly affected because of the quizzes he does at the beginning of class that are a grade.
I love this guy! He's hilarious. You'll want to attend class. There're quizzes, but he only collects 10 over the semester and if you're coming to class and doing the readings, they're a breeze. If you simply do what he asks, then you will pass with a wonderful grade. The difference between an A and B is doing the readings and reviewing notes daily.
The tests were difficult, but you are given the material to study.
Brother Wright is very informative and great at explaining any questions you may have about Psychology. His lectures are always very informative and he loves to joke, which makes the class more enjoyable.
He is fun, however, DO NOT take health psych unless you specifically have to. He is a great person, but he does not teach, or adequately prepare you for the tests. The tests are poor indicators of what you have learned. They are super subjective on most questions (the ones not about biology). One project thats meaningful, but not helpful for tests.
Great professor, he really loves the students and gives great explanations when someone asks a question.
Brother Wright is a fantastic professor. He is a very honest grader, holds his students accountable, and has his heart in his teaching. I loved Health Psych and Brother Wright was a big part of that.
I loved his class! Im not a Psychology major, but I did have to take it for generals and I was dreading taking the class but Brother Wright made it so interesting and fun to learn.
Skip Class you wont pass: He relates topics to everyday life and shows videos that help retain the information. There are quizzes at the beginning of every class but he only collect 10 of them the entire semester. Sometimes on the exams he will ask questions about a video he shares in a lecture.
I really enjoyed Brother Wrights psychology class. We had awesome discusstions and he made every lecture very entertaining. Go to class!!! Everything he says in the lectures is on the test!
Honestly he puts on a great face but is really tough. He tries to make class fun. He does favor certain people. Be prepared for pop quizzes every class period. Test are exceptionally hard. He only grades psych. activities, pop quizzes and test. Do not miss days and he will not let you turn in late assignment and will not work with you at all.
Brother Wright is very fun and inspirational. I think psych111 is the most interesting content and he presents it in a way thats very easy to understand. He definitely doesn't assign too much homework.
Don't be fooled by the students who didn't work hard and blame him. He's amazing! He gives a 5 question quiz each class and 10 are taken for a grade at random. They are very fair and if you go to class and then review the material you will do well. Tests are book, lecture based (fair). This class was very intellectually and spiritually stimulating.
Very nice and honestly loves the subject he teaches, but the test are very difficult and include application of reading from textbook and his lectures in class. The 10 random pop quizzes throughout the semester are constantly annoying to study for. He makes the subject fun though and the units he teaches are honestly fun.
Brother Wright is very upbeat and positive with his class. He makes learning fun and he helps you relate it to real life stuff. The things I learned in his class I would not trade for anything. The behavior change was very beneficial. His tests can be a bit confusing and you should not ask him obvious questions. Overall, I enjoyed the class!
Tons of reading and the tests are tough. Brother Wright is also weirdly confrontational. Dont take this course if youre not planning on majoring in psychology.
The worst teacher that I have ever had. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS
I have a 4.0 and bro wright was my first grade that wasn't an A EVER! I was a 4.0 student all through high school. I've been a 4.0 student in my 4 semesters here as a BYUI. Worked my butt off in that class and got a B+ He makes is so impossible to be successful in his class. Take it from someone better honestly.
Brother Wright is a hilarious person and makes the material interesting, but his exams are really tough and difficult to study for. I put in all of the study tips and still struggled.
I really loved having wright as a teacher, i learned a lot in his class. His tests were very difficult for me but he does curve if the whole class had struggles on the test! he is a great person and it makes his teaching great also. He is very passionate about his subject and wants you to know what he is teaching. This is not an easy A class though
Brother Wright is a hilarious professor. I enjoyed his lectures a lot and I was intrigued by everything he said but his tests seemed impossible for me with lots of studying i never got above a C on a test.
Don't listen to those who have Given Brother Wright a poor score. His class is amazing, but if you're expecting to cruise through without having to read then yes, you will not receive a good grade. He provides his lecture slides, a study guide, and his quizzes are related to the exams. Great professor!
He's a wonderful professor who is kind and caring. He encourages participation and really inspires me to dive deeper into the course material to learn more.
Brother Wright is a phenomenal teacher and is in all aspects a master of his field.
Things I liked: -very open to feedback -incorporates his own research -structured class schedule -projects are challenging and beneficial to you personally Things I didn't like: -Inconsistent logic behind quiz questions -doesn't tell you how you can improve on your papers -slideshows are novels -crummy cost-to-benefit of reading the textbook
DON'T DO IT!! He smiles and tells a lot of jokes. He teaches well, but deep inside he isn't so funny. He doesn't care about any of you, he's inconsiderate, and if you need help he's the last person to call. If you've ever struggled in school, or just needed more time here and there, HIS CLASS IS NOT FOR YOU. DON'T DO IT. JUST DON'T!!
Brother Wright really cares about what he does. His class is hard but it's because he wants you to know that things that are important in life aren't always easy. Compared to what I've heard from other people taking PSYCH111 he is one of only two teachers were the students like him.
Brother Wright is awesome! He tells good stories and really tries to help his students understand the concepts. His quizzes and exams are hard but they are great preparation for applying psychology to real scenarios. He wants his students understand and be ready to work with real people. I recommend for psych majors and as an elective class.
You will have a quiz every single class, attendance is important in his class because if you miss one day, then you are going to miss a whole lot of information and his tests are literally on what he talks about in class! He is always sure to relate the gospel back to psychology and genuinely loves and cares for all of his students. He is awesome!
Overall, a great professor. He cares about his students, is very knowledgeable about what he teaches, tries to get the students more interested in the subject. The tests, however, were hard to follow and were worded a little funny compared to what is taught in class.
I Love Brother Wright! He is one of my favorite Professors. I really enjoyed his lectures. Not only is the topic of psychology fun but brother Wright made it really enjoyable. His tests were very hard. Even with great attendance and turning my assignments in on time my grade suffered from the tests. If this wasn't an intro course I would understand
All your grade is based on in-class quizzes and tests, which are hard. However, he has really made me think about the many options in psychology. He is passionate about what he teaches. He's genuine and wants to reach his students as individuals. If you want an easy A this isn't for you. If you want to be inspired and feel passion then it is.
Amazing Lectures. Everything you need to know is gone over in class. Assignments are not difficult and are especially relevant to learning Psychology. Humble and great teaching style.
Brother Wright is an amazing Professor who inspires students to dig a little deeper when it comes to preparing for a test. It is possible to do well in his class if you show up. His test are good, if you study. Theres a quiz every Monday which is a great way to review the material for upcoming tests. If you want a challenge, take this class.
Brother Wright is awesome! He challenges you to think differently and you will not do well on the tests if you do not study. You get what you put into this class, and you can learn so much if you try!
Brother Wright is amazing!!! Hes so passionate about Health Psych and he loves his students. His exams are tough but fair. Just study the slides! I didnt use the text book after Chapter 3 and I got an A. Go over your exams with the tutor because the final is everything from prior exams. Even if you only miss a couple it will be so worth it
Brother Wright is one of the best professors I have taken at BYUI. I have learned so much from him. He genuinely cares for his students and is overall just a great teacher. If you go to class, actually pay attention to what he is staying, and do your assignments, you will do well in any of his classes.
Brother Wright's classes are not easy. You have to really work at it to get a good grade, but you'll really know the material if you try. If you want to be prepared for the workforce, take his class. If you want an "Easy A", avoid his classes... and maybe avoid the Psychology field in general.
One of the things that I loved about Brother Wright was I felt like he really tried to be fair. This was a 400 level class, and he tested us accordingly. But he also provided the tools to help us succeed, like posting the lecture slides on iLearn and having the TA host a review. He is really passionate about psychology and cares about his students.
Brother Wright is amazing. This was my first experience with a 400 level class, and there is a lot of work involved. But he made it bearable. He never made anyone feel dumb for their questions, and always welcomed discussion and application of things. Here's my tip: USE THE TUTOR- I DONT CARE HOW SMART YOU THINK YOU ARE... you're welcome.
Do not put your trust in this professor. He is condescending and thinks VERY highly of himself to a fault. He needs to brush up on his interpersonal abilities because he has very little social skills outside of his class. What makes him "funny" is his awkwardness, but really that is how he always is. Very uncomfortable to ask questions from.
Brother Wright is passionate about what he does. He's real quirky but provides excellent insight to the gospel as he relates it to the course work. Course material is really interesting. Tests are almost impossible to get an A on. They are cumulative and he only gives you 55 minutes to complete 75 multiple choice questions. It's rough, but doable.
I took this class online so he might do it differently on campus, but class time was spent with quizzes that were worth no points to help us get used to his style of teaching and then working on little group projects that were rather simple. His tests were 70 question timed tests but we were allowed notes. No homework, just tests and a project
Conducting research can be challenging, but Bro Wright does a great job guiding you through it. He's very kind and helpful with any questions you may have. As it's a 400 level class, be prepared to put some work in. It can be stressful at times, but I felt it was very rewarding in the end!
I agree with some of the things that other students have said like he doesn't care about you and the tests are hard. Don't try to get help with the tests because he will tell you to go to the Disabilities office. I wish he would be more helpful to his students because I got the help and tips from the TA. Don't worry he is just as bad as you think.
Isn't a good teacher, he doesn't teach well and he is not personable to his students. He doesn't help at all and no matter how many times you email him, he won't respond. Don't get your hopes up and do everything by yourself because he ain't going to be there for you. The TAs are great tho! They give lots of tips and encouragement.
This professor made me cry. He made me feel so alone and dumb for trying in his class. The lectures and homework is fine but the tests are so hard. He doesn't help or give advice on how to do better but the tutor does so i suggest getting a tutor. Honestly the tutor is going to be your lifeline.
While the exams are open book/open note, there's something like 70 questions and you only get 50 minutes to do it. Most of your grade comes from the exams, and he always said he would give us a curve and we never got one. Super funny, just not worth it the way the class is set up.
Not going to lie don't like this class or professor. The class is a bunch of busy work that's not worth much while the tests are timed and worth so much. I asked for help and advice and he didn't even do that. If you need help, don't waste your time trying to contact him, go to the TAs. This class has a lot of potential but it misses the mark.
Great, caring professor, made every lecture fun and easy to understand, you get an in-class quiz with the stuff we learned from the day before everyday and he will randomly have you turn in up to 10 for attendance. Lots of fun psychology activities and assignments. Tests are slightly difficult but if you study it's not that bad
Bro. Wright is a tough instructor. He has rules for turning in assignments and won't really budge on them. If there is any issue, go to the TA's. That is where he will send you. I will say I don't particularly enjoy this subject. All the tests are timed, which I do appreciate, but I do see why others would view that as difficult.
Brother Wright is like the professor that your high school teachers tell you about. You must show up to class, pay attention, and do what's required outside of class. However, he is very fair and expects all of his students to act like adults. Brother Wright isn't going to baby any students. I
Brother Wright is honestly so genuine and amazing! He TRULY cares about his students! If you are having any issues personal or not, he is so understanding. This is a hard class, and you read a lot, but I took a lot away!! Definitely recommend!
Waited until after I took his class and will try to give an unbias opinion PROS - Sense of humor, passionate about the subject, no Proctorio, assignments are engaging. CONS - Hard tests, though open note/book we got 40 sec per question and have multiple correct answers but you choose the best answer. Also worth 40% of grade. I'm an A student btw
Some of these bad reviews about his personality I don't agree with 100% from my experience. He is a great guy and has great skills for his profession and knows his stuff. If you wanted someone to hold your hand through the course, go back to high school. What I did agree with was the tests, reasonable questions but don't give nearly enough time.
Great professor, very caring and teaches the material in a way to prepare students for success
Fantastic professor! I have taken two classes from him, and both have been very rewarding. He a great lecturer and encourages participation in class discussions. I often felt like class time passed quickly because the topics were very interesting. He makes himself available to students, is very knowledgeable, and a great resource.
Brother Wright is hilarious. He's relatable and makes his lectures a lot of fun. He's very caring and willing to work with you. That being said, be prepared for a bi-weekly project (they're not too hard) and random pop quizzes that count as attendance. The suspense for when the next one will be really keeps you coming to class.
Read the chapter SUMMARY first! - Want to be a counselor? This class is applicable. - Put more time in the tutoring center, I went once per exam. Sleep well, eat, and manage stress before the test. Especially exercise! take CLASS NOTES. I get caught up in discussions and forget note taking, write a summary after each class period.
Brother Wright is the best teacher I have ever had in my college career. He expects a lot from his students, and the learning that you will expierence IF YOU PUT IN THE WORK shows that. His test are tough, but going to tutoring and focusing in class will allow you to do well. His humor is an acquired taste. Long live Brother Wright.
Honestly, I don't know why he has such good ratings. He was fine, but nothing amazing. His tests are so hard too. 75 questions in 50 minutes. That is ridiculous and half of the questions try to trick you. In my opinion, the worst part is he won't let you see your test again, so you have no idea what you missed. Good luck if you decide to take it!
I'm not sure why people are so negative about his exams. The exams are 75 questions and you get 50 minutes to take it, but they're open note. He also does non-graded quizzes on Monday's so that you can get an idea of the questions that will be on the tests. He's a great professor, and is super funny!
Brother Wright is the most tender guy ever!! He is so sweet and so kind, if you meet with him and show him that you are really wanting to learn he is ALWAYS willing to help you work through the class so that you can get the grade that you want! his tests are HARD and he is very transparent about that so its never a surprise. LOVE him!!
Brother Wright is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He cares about his students and is willing to help them in any way. I loved his class and would definitely take a class from Brother Wright again!
Brother Wright's class is challenging but very entertaining. He has a lot of experience in the field of psychology outside of teaching; much of which he brings up in class and shares. He's very intelligent, but never uses that to put students down. He's extremely helpful on the class projects and I can't recommend him enough!
Professor Wright is a fantastic professor, who is very kind, funny, and helpful. Getting through your projects in this class require guidance and correction, and he is very good at providing both in a very helpful way. He is very experienced in this sort of thing, and knows how to do it right. Take psych 485 from him, Itll be the best thing you do.
Loved loved loved his class! He is so thoughtful towards each student and is so funny! He knows so much about psych and explains things so well. I'm not sure why there are such bad reviews.
Professor Wright's class is challenging, but worth the effort. His exams are tough, but using resources like the textbook and Unstuck study can really help with prep. Overall, a rewarding course with a caring professor.
Honestly, I'm just a shy boy so I don't feel like I ever get a relationship with professors but this guy was a champ. I loved his class.
Bro Wright is the most caring professor I have had and teaches intriguing lectures. The class subject is interesting. The tests are open note but timed. They can be tricky, but if you take good notes in class and do the readings, you'll do great.
I like Wright and he is funny, but he always tries to be funny, even if that means interrupting everybody while they're talking to crack a joke. He also doesn't know R, which is something we all needed to learn for research methods, the prerequisite, and didn't know how to help us what it for our research project. Good discussions, fair grader
Bro. Wright has not been my favorite teacher, he's not bad, just not my fav. He tries to make jokes, but it honestly just annoyed me. The only things you're graded on are 5 75 question tests that you have to take in 50 minutes. There's a couple of other things, but they're easy. Overall, I wouldn't take him again, but he's also not the worst ever.
