Dr. Zeuschner is an excellent professor. Always helpful. Never puts you down when you don't know something. Very, very informative. Also, he tells you what to study on his tests!

Phil 25 in the summer is piles and piles of homework. Easy to listen to, but he likes to preach on and on about his views and beliefs on politics and religion and what not. Though he seems professional, I didn't come to PCC to be indoctrined.

Very very intelligent man, wonderful lecturing style with humorous anecdotes. Tests are easy if you study the notes he provides. Also an awesome guitarist, ask him to play in class, he might if youre lucky!

One of the most inspirational people I've ever met... Truly intelligent... has a persona that immediately wins your respect... For a good grade in class you have to work hard (which is only fair, of course)... highly recommend him...

If there was anybody more like Socrates, Dr. Z would be him! He used to teach a USC but he rather stay at his hometown (Pasadena), despite the low pay, to do what he does best...INSPIRE STUDENTS!!

He really asks intriguing questions that makes u want to listen to his lectures. He's down to earth, but his tests seem a bit hard (they invlove both multiple choice and essays). If you're a narrow minded person, this class will shock & even upset you.

by far, my favorite teacher at PCC. the subject matter is always interesting, and his lectures are direct & usually clarify anything that might be confusing to you in the reading. if you study for tests & use the study guide, you'll get an A. hes awesome.

VERY cool teacher. He speaks in a way that makes it easy to understand. He wrote the textbook so if you miss a class, the notes are right there. But his lectures are really interesting and you'll want to hear what he has to say. Plays a mean guitar.

Extremely fair professor who creates a comfortable learning environment. Allows students to make their own judgements. Provides reasoning for all claims. Nature of the class is critical, but he is unbiased. Genuinely cares about the education of students. Very brilliant professor. Class is highly recommended.

he's an ok prof... he gives u a study guide for tests so focus on those... also he answers questions right before the tests so listen carefully cuz most of the test questions are asked... the good thing is that he never makes u feel stupid if u dont get it... nad answers all ur questions 10 times...

There is simply no kinder, more thoughtful, more gentle, and more interesting professor on the whole PCC campus than Zeuschner. Took him for both philosophy and religious studies, not that hard; even in mid-afternoon his lectures were intersting.

Very interesting lectures. Test are straight from class lectures. The book is easy to read (he wrote it). Take detail in class notes and you will pass the tests. Nevertheless you will have a good time.

His lectures tend to stray off subject and get a little confusing but he provides students with an in depth study guide to every chapter which really helps on the tests. As long as you read the notes and ask questions before the tests you should get an A.

He's very kind and generous. He gives you hint on what is going to be on the test, and he curves the test too. Great guy! his lecture is just a little bit boring at time, I don't think it's because of him (he's quite hilarious at times), the subject itself is boring. He has the father-like figure, very very kind old man!

awesome. i didnt come to his classes much, but just study and know ur stuff and you're good to go. he gave me an A even when i managed to be a B student throughout the semester. he's very good at clarifying complicated ideas of other philosophers. take him!

this guy was great. really easy on attendance.he practically tells you what's on the tests.i missed a lot of classes, got B's and C's on my tests and still passed the class with a strong B. he's really clear on all the material and if you need any help he is always there.take his class if you want a good grade, you just need to put a little effort.

I have nothing but praise for this professor. Very intellectual, a genius who enjoys teaching and cares very much for his students. Class is more like an open forum were everyone expresses his/her ideas. His tests are all from the book and he reviews you beforehand. Very nice and witty. Highly recommended before he retires.

Zeuschner is awesome. He has a passion for what he teaches, and it shows. Hislectures are very informative and he has good voice intonation, though be aware that he does not teach using any other methods besides the lecture. The tests are very easy if you study the key terms on the study guide. Take him if you aren't afraid of a challenge at PC

Zeuschner is an excellent teacher. He is quite knowledgeable in his field. He seems to have some issues with Christianity - so if you are sensitive about that you may want to look elsewhere. Otherwise I would give Zeuschner an A+ as a professor.

By far the best professor I have had at PCC to date. To get an A, buy the study guide to his class memorize the key terms and show up everyday to class and listen. That's ALL you need to do, it's not that hard folks. I never read the book and still got an A on each of his tests. His stories are very interesting and he's passionate about his work.

Although, you are prolly not readin this because your too preoccupied w/ the other 84 good comments about this guy. I took him in Fall 06 and he is one of the best professors I've had at PCC. Some may think that he is biased against Christianity but he doesn't show any prejudice for it. He presents the material clearly and makes it very interesting. Class isn't hard. Study the study guide in detail before the test and you'll do great. Highly recommended!

Easy teacher..explains really well everything..his tests are short and easy..the reading is short and pretty much explains everything..hes a kind man and does seems to have a tiny problem with Christianity...however im Christian and i wasnt offended so if your a Christian this class will actually make you a smarter CHRISTIAN!!

Hahaha I love Dr. Zeuschner. He's such a down to earth and great character, its a shame I didn't go to class much. Its tough, but if you go to every lecture (trust me its worth it) and read, you'll ace it. Talks about his background a lot which is awesome, like how he almost ruined his golden jewls at hot springs HAHA!

Good teacher, he's very nice, very helpful, but he's test can be tricky sometimes, The final was horrible! It covered I believe 5 chapters and very detailed material. Make sure you read the book or you'll end up with a high B instead of an A.

Professor Zeuschner is, BY FAR, the best professor I had at PCC. If you're at all interested in philosophy and listen in class, you'll get an A. He's incredibly compassionate and he was even enthusiastic during the night class.

Zeuschner lectures straight out of the textbook for the class which is nice because you can just skim through it before the test. VERY CLEAR but there are no chances for e.c. and there are no homework assignments. He is very approachable if you don't understand something. Overall, I highly recommend taking him.

I took his class once before in PCC and am currently in UCLA, but I would take his Far East Religion Class in PCC again in Spring just to have the chance to learn from him again. Very helpful, he tries to make the class fun, very nice.

Zeuschner is a great professor who knows his material inside and out. Unfortunately, I find the material a bit exhausting to absorb so I end up sleeping. I feel bad for sleeping in his class because it's just rude and disrespectful, but he's a great professor that tries to help you out and he should know that it's greatly appreciated.

If you're taking Religious Studies, Study of Asian Religion you HAVE to go to ever class. He is very flexible when it comes to attendance. Study for each test a week in advance, they are difficult and your grade is based off of four tests, he drops the lowest one. Study Study Study and attend every class if you want an A!

Very cool teacher! He's seems hard at first, but you cant get lazy in this class. This is a real test of your logic and understanding multiple philosophies. Class is test based, so study in advance. Has a study guide for the book as well. Didnt do so well in the class, but that doesnt mean you should too. Highly recommend this teacher.

Very interesting, You can learn a lot from him not just about philosophy but about yourself through the class. Doesn't care if you come to class or not. Tests are fairly easy, all come from his lectures and book. If you come to class, or read the book you can pass.

He is a great instructor. Lectures can be very long, but I find it interesting. His exams comes from a mixture of the book and his notes. His exams consist of MC,T/F and short answer.He is wiling to answer your questions at his office or in class. Just read and pay attention to lecture and you should be fine.

Zeuschner is awesome! Funny, very knowledgeable. Passionate about subjects. Class is enlightening. Definitely buy Study Guide if available; almost identical to the lectures- tests based off them. Hardly used book. Drops lowest test grade. Try your best to understand material. ~45 M.C/T.F and ~5-8 short answer questions for tests. No homework!

Amazing professor! I wasn't very interested in this class topic before, but now I'm so glad I took it. He is absolutely knowledgeable and approachable. HE will offer help if you ask. Pro. Zeuschner is a really awesome teacher. you will enjoyed yrself in the lecture. Easy test, and he always answers what you concerned about. Except that, the class itself is interesting too, you may found hard at first 'cuz those ideas you never met before, but when tring to accept them in a etic way, you will found a new world open to you.

Zeuschner is a very intuitive and influencial professor who provides lots of information. Some might say it's difficult to receive an A. This professor expects you to read the assigned chapters and outlines. Definantly not a class you should not snooze in. Overall a great class but be warned that you NEED to be an effort for an A.

Professor Zeuschner is by far one of the best professors at PCC. He's so smart and funny and really loves asian religion and philosophy. He does go off onto random subjects when people ask him questions, but it's informative. He also plays a mean guitar!! You have to study a lot for his tests but it's soooo worth it.

One of my Favorites at PCC! He is very smart, kind, and respectful. His tests are easy and he gives you a chance to ask any questions about the test for 30 minutes before the exam! There were only 4 tests and he dropped the lowest score! Now thats easy... plus the only homework is reading. The books were all interesting just like the lectures. A+

I love this professor!He tells a lot of interesting stories about his life that relates back to the material that you're learning and he's really funny. He speaks clearly and is very helpful. Tests are fairly easy if you read and study the chapters in the book. Make sure you take notes on his lectures because those come in handy on his test!

Dr.Z is certainly one of the most interesting and articulate teachers at PCC. TAKE HIS CLASSES! I am a Physics Major and Dr.Z is still one of my favorite professors - nearly made me want to change my major. Anyone giving this guy a bad rating is simply a lazy idiot.

Really great professor, has great lectures and stories to tell. He uses good analogies and metaphors to explane complex ideas. I would take a class from him again any time. His tests are hard, but if you are there for the lectures and do the readings you'll do fine, and he is always willing to meet after class or at his office hours for questions

I can't think of a person who better embodies the word "wise" than Prof Zeuschner. He is like the laughing Buddha- always smiling and totally approachable. He does his best to help you and gives you every opportunity to ask questions. The class content itself is IMO fascinating. One of the best classes/profs I've ever taken.

Took his class during Summer 2011. Not crazily easy, but definitely manageable. Mostly memorization for tests, although some theories are rather complex and require some understanding. He gives notes and all our test questions usually come from there. Got an A. Really nice and friendly guy, recommended :)

You will not get any homework in Dr. Z's class BUT it will help if you read the text. He is a great teacher, my class was once a week (imagine that, 3 hrs long) and not once I felt bored! I don't think exams are easy but if you take really good notes you can get an A.

Attended in 99'. This prof was nothing short of amazing. I sat in the back of the class,screwed off and drew all day...but i listened. Further more, i truly learned. The passion and wisdom he teaches with sparked my interest in world religion and theology. Thank you Zeuschner!

I was so excited to take Zeuschner because of all the good ratings. I was disappointed. He's very helpful, knowledgeable, and nice. But, he is more like a storyteller - a very good one - rather than someone who can initiate discussions. Also, sometimes I feel like he's just preparing you to take his tests and get A's.

In this class taking notes is a MUST. His test are not that tough but YOU NEED TO READ AND STUDY. He is funny at times which makes long lectures interesting. There isn't any room for discussion which I would have liked. Other then that he is great professor and class is also very awesome

I believe this professor only does 3 hr classes, and that is why it is important you go to class to hear the lecture and understand the reading. He can be entertaining, and honestly wants discussion in the class, but most people shy away. READ THE TEXTBOOK. No assignments, just a few tests. Study, ask if you don't understand, & you should be good.

Dr. Zeuschner is very nice and approachable. Although this was an 3 hr class but I always felt like the class went by too fast. The materials he covered were all very interesting. His tests are not difficult. Like he said, he really want you to pass. Take notes during lectures and read the study guides and you get an A.

Wonderful professor! Everything is Crystal clear in this course. Although long lecture, but the textbook he uses is in Simple English and categorized so its easy to understand the ethical theories. The chapters themselves are short. Only 4 Exams and a Final. Textbook Reading and attendance are essential to passing. Overall, Very Recommended!

I took Zeuschner for Philo 3 & then Relgs 2 because he's a great professor. You need to read, take notes, ask questions, and go to class. The work you put into the course will be reflected on your grade. He's approachable & wants everyone to do well. No assignments. Ask him to play his guitar and he probably will. Great experience.

He is an amazing lecturer, and an incredibly nice professor. The only thing was that it was really hard to get an A on his tests so I recommend reading the chapter twice for your best chance at an A. But no homework or anything and the multiple choice is not hard, only the free answer can be a little tricky.

There are four exams and a final which is double weighted. Drops one lowest exam score excluding the final. I got two D's and two B's on the exams, and a B on the final and still got a B in the class. He's a nice and kind man who gives his students a lot of chances to succeed. Study the notes, read the book, make flashcards and you'll pass.

You read cuz its all history about Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Buddha, ect. You listen to his interesting lectures and read the chapter and take the test. Thats it, until you finish the semester. He will provide you with lengthy feedback on why you received your grade and will respond to emails and questions very quickly. I can't stress how profound a professor Prof.Z is! His class is very in depth so if you're passionate about Philosophy, you'll learn quite a lot! I took Dr. Z's winter class. It was fast paced but an amazing class. He posts lecture videos and has these amazing outlines that are helpful to study for the test. He held sessions every week and was welcome to any all questions through email or zoom sessions. He was very kind and I learned so much content but also more as a person.

I took Philosophy 003 in Winter 2021 and it was a great class! He posts a lot of lectures and some of them can be quite long but they are great for prepping for the quizzes. The book for the class was actually written by him and it is really easy to read and cheap to buy or rent. His zoom lectures are optional but I would recommend going.

Professor Zeuschner is a good teacher if you can handle heavy lectures. I found the coursework to be extremely easy but a lot of my peers struggled in this class. He is very generous and understanding of students. He will drop your lowest test score, give lots of free points in homework, and will even postpone tests at student request.
