Pretty picky grader. Very boring! Has longer pre-lab lectures than most. Loves talking about unecessary things in the mistaken notion that anyone cares.
Hard teacher. Boooooring! Do not take her. Quizes almost every week on that days lab. Not very nice either. Same goes for bio 112
even though there are quizzes each week over the lab that day, it makes you be prepared for class and helps in the long run for the tests. if you have a question, she is willing to answer it, but don't get on her bad side. she was fair and not too bad.
You can get an A in her class if you work hard. Her lectures are very clear and she uses questions the students give her on the practicals. If you take her you will have to pay attention but you won't have to sell your soul for a good grade.

One word: SATAN!!! The lady is INCREDIBLY off her rocker...she always had these 4 question- 2 point quizzes, and if you missed even one question, it would bring your grade down to a C...Only take if you LOVE plants, the lady has chlorophyll on the brain!!
you want it in the butt?? take her....class is HARD!

All the rest of these commentors are nuts. Doc. Lammers is an awesome instructor. Yes, you have to work, but this is college, morons. If you want to learn take her class, if not take fitness through walking.
Tough but fair. You'll learn a lot in the class. An if you have trouble understaning anything she's good at explaining it to you during office hours.
she gives quizes before every lab, then gives a 2 hr lecture about the same thing you were just quized on. do not take her lab. it is a waste of your time, all the labs can be completed in and hour if lammers is not your prof.
dont take her. She gives fractions of points off for the labs and she's not very fun. She isnt very fair when it comes to grading.
She will rip on students until they comment back. If things are not done her way (which is ambiguous, much like the book, which tells NOTHIN) then she will yell at you. She did that to me so I made a comment back and shut her up.
Stay away from this woman! I could and did teach myself in this class. Her tests are ridiculous. She marks fractions off your labs for every small detail. She does not explain anything. The labs are unclear and there is not enough time to finish them.

she is a nice teacher and she puts up with a lot of stuff during class.. her test are pretty hard but most bio 111 labs are.. she gives weekly quizzes which aren't too bad.. just read before you come to class and you get a good grade..
I;m sorry to say but- DO NOT take this teacher. I am a good student who is here to learn but Dr. Lammers is insane. She does not teach but rather intimidates people and expects them to teach yourself. She doesn't explain anything. Her exams are TERRIBLE!!
She's an alright teacher, but she rips on students and her final in the class was a pain and very hard. Lots of quizes but its an easy way to earn points and always read the chapters before class cause all questions on her quiz are based on the readings
She's tough, but she does tell you what she wants. The midterm was not tough, but the final killed everyone. Almost impossible to get an A in the class. Don't count on a B either, do all the readings and memorize every slide you've ever seen in the lab.
Her tests are hard and she takes points off for the smallest thing possible. I would not recommend her.
Terrible Teacher. Quizzes easy but finals are hard. She teaches stuff that no one cares about. Do not take this teacher! She makes easy things incredibly hard and confusing. Bad GPA breaker Honest to god - stay away
quizes aren't to bad but the finals are really hard but she is fair. most of our class failed the final so she curved the class, ended up with an a, but i worked very hard
Terrible woman who gives quizzes every week. I had her in the morning and it was pure hell. Finals were really tough and she was not available for help that often. IGNORE AT ALL COSTS. All she talks about is plants which she focuses more than anything
drop the class
Lecture is really boring. Lab is even worse. She loves plants a little too much. flexible with her grading system; willing to let tests be dropped and curves end grades. free-writes are a god-sent! little 5 pointers with no wrong answer!
IF YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR GPA, TAKE THIS CLASS. HER FINALS TEND TO BE ON MATERIAL YOU WOULDN'T THINK SHE WOULD PUT ON AN EXAM. SHE IS SOMETIMES HARD TO FIND WHEN YOU NEED TO TALK TO HER.
Come on she is not that bad, the material is just hard! She is a very nice lady with a deep care for plants and her subject. She actually has a sense of humor in there, you just have to find it.
Run away quickly. I dropped the class after the second class.

She gives "pop quizes" every single week, and she makes sure lab takes the entire 3 hrs. She grades the lab thoroughly taking points off frequently. I was failing, and when i asked for help her only response was: try harder. Her exams are imposs
She is wondeful at making things clear and interesting. This is a Bio 112 course, so of course it is a bit of work, but she makes it worth it. If you are a Bio major at heart, you will be truly grateful to her for all you will learn.
If you study the lab manuel and not just read it before you come to class, you should be able to do well on the quizzes. On the lab practicum, study everything in the lab manuel. She does not ask anything that is not in the manual. You can get an A!

One. SHe's anal and will take off .1 off your lab grades. Quiz every week. Exams, just memorize the book and also all the phylum, class names. Other then that she's a little obessesed with plants. and class goes for all three hours. Class is passable.
IS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME LAMMERS? She's the most caring and personable prof. The course is not hard. It just requires A LOT of work. Just take good notes and study the outline. Her lectures are word for word from the book.
not too bad of class but you will have to work.. standard grading like all of the lab classes.. just don't mess around and do the labs and you will be fine..
She is sooo bad. i can't stand her. she made me hate biology, if you're just 30 seconds late you can't take the "pop" quiz which she gives every class. she's sooooo anal..she takes off .1 pts off your lab? seriously just don't take her she h
She is very mean, was in her class for a day, had to quit because of her attitude. Don't treat me like a elementary student, plus I pay a lot of money to put up with people like her. If she can change her attitude she will be fine.
She sucks, run away as fast as you can from her class. Hate her! Loyola should kick her out. Thinks too good of herself.
classes never end a minute early, takes the entire 3 hours. Hard as hell to make an A, just shoot for a B, and you'll be okay.

She was a very nice professor and was somewhat tolerant of my constant tardiness, just don't be tardy and stupid because then she'll be annoyed. POLITICAL VIEWS ARE SO FAR LEFT THAT STALIN SEEMS CONSERVATIVE THOUGH! OH WELL
She's OK. Need to do alot of work, and yes labs are long. Taking off 0.1pts of a lab shows that she's willing to give you every opportunity to get points. You'd be complaining a lot more if she didn't give you any credit at all.
I wish she would be more helpful. It seems like she is too important for questions. If you ask her something, she gives you this look that says not to ask her any more questions. Some personal advice to those out there. If you struggle with studying, try not to pick a class with her.
Very advanced class-make sure you know your bio.nice teacher, though, and her lab is easy. You might not know what to do in them...but just ask and she'll clear it all up.Get your plant collection done early.Tests are short answer/essay, so know what your talking about.Find the smart kid in class!
This class is insane. I am lost half the time. She seems like a nice person but that class is just impossible. She'll cover the information so fast you miss half of it unless you can write really fast. Unless you really like plants, stay away.
OMG....RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Its a hard class but not impossible. Just study very hard. Collect plants as soon as you get asignment, it will help when you are identifying them.
Do not take. She is horrible. Regardless of what the emphasis of the lab is your lab exams are all about random facts. She expects you to know every detail about anything in her precious bible of a lab manual. I have done well in this class but I would rather recommend a tumor than her.
shes alright. shows how much she wants people to do good in her class by taking off .1points on exams and labs...shes not hard and not easy either... be prepared for lab everyday cuz there are quizzes and she asked random people ?'s...she very short and blends in when people are sitting

She is tough on you, makes labs difficult, but this makes you do EXCELLENT on both tests and quizzes. She is strict, but has a very pleasant attitude. Just pay attention so you don't get humiliated. Made the understanding of the material much easier..lectures at the end of class, so you can enjoy your lab. I will take her again, grading is good

One thing's for sure - she's not an easy teacher. The labs are good though and if u wanna take a class where you're challenged then this is it.
Dr. Lammers is a great professor. If you study the stuff she's teaching on a regular basis, you'll do well. If you expect to get an A in this class by studying the night before, you're doomed to fail. She helps when you ask for it and her lectures are both interesting and clear. Tests are pretty hard though. Overall, I recommend Dr. Lammers :oD
She is really passionate about the subject, and really wants you to like it too, and she actually cares about her students. The class is a lot of work, but the concepts are not that difficult. Sometimes the lecture was a little on the dry side, but the labs were always fun and Dr. Lammers def. loves plants.
She has extremely high standards, the practicals are INSANE, she doesn't curve or TEACH you anything. And she makes you feel dumb when you ask her a question. Extremely condescending.
what a ****ing****. enough said.
I think she's a pretty good teacher. She gives plenty of guidance when you need it. Lab is totally not that difficult.
Eh.. she's an alright teacher. Gives quizes, tests, and such. Be prepared and read the labs, as she doesn't go over them really in the begg. but you end up going over it at the end of class. Just be cool, and she's cool. Mediocore teacher at best.. but nice and classy.
If you have no interest in plants what-so-ever, this class will greatly annoy you. Lammers is a very fair woman, and no suprises on her all short answer/essay tests, but I wouldn't call them easy by any means. Her labs were easy but unstructured. Boring lectures, she talks way too fast! I never felt comfortable to stop her to ask a question, either
she is a very mean person and she need god in her life.no compassion for certain students.please pray and ask god to help you in the women class.she need a heart for people.
I loved Dr Lammers but I dislike learning about plants in such detail. Advice: if you struggled w/ the plant sections during bio 101/102 it gets more detailed in Plant Bio. Having said that, Dr. Lammers is one of the KINDEST professors I've had. She patiently works with you after class by explaining questions you had about lecture. :o)
If you didnt like plants in gen bio, dont take this class. She is very fair on tests and grading, but the tests are very detailed and req lots of mem. If you screw up one exam you can easily make up the points with your coll. and labs.
haha i cant believe someone wrote she needs god in her life!! she is very fair, knowlegeable and if you ask her a question she is always willing to help until you completly understand. The only reason you wouldnt like her is if you are lazy because she isnt easy, but i have learned tons in her classes!
Lammers was a fun teacher. People need to understand the importance of plants in this world. It may not be interesting to some people, but if you want to learn biology then you need to learn all of biology and not just the fun stuff.
hardest lab teacher, not very helpful
Hard teacher because of the amount of work this lab requires! Study for every lab!!! But she is very interested in what she teaches and it is possible to get a good grade...but study! if you want an easy Biol 2 lab, don't take her!
helpful, but extremely difficult...if you want to save ur GPA, take another prof
Very demanding teacher, but she's willing to provide almost unlimited help to her students. She will give you extra study materials and go over the labs with you. She makes sure you know what to expect on the practicals, but they're still pretty hard. I really like her style.
Dr. Lammers is at first a stickler, but once you get used to her, you realize that she is ultimately helping you out and making you actually learn the material. She is kind and very helpful outside of class. Also, she makes her expectations clear. What I really like about her is that she actually lectured prior to the labs. Great Professor! A++
Most other reveiews are for bio1+2 labs. But DO NOT take her for an upper level class. She is unclear on teaching and relies on her own knowledge. This means the book is useless. Further, her forgetfullness makes it very unclear what you actually need to take from lecture. Sweet old lady...Horrible Teacher. Avoid.
Ok guys. I am a kind of guy who never really tried and still got decent grades. I took biology lab 2 once and i had to drop it because i did so bad. I am taking the class again with dr. lammers and she really makes you pay attention. i'm learning a ton right now simply because she teaches like that and demands it. shes a very nice individual.
Ok the above comment for bio 205 is so true.i wish i didn't take this class.she does not know how to teach and really forgets what she is about to say.Also,ques.on her test r not clear and then she takes off points.u might as well take independent study b/c she is of no use.my interest in plants died cause of her.she just cannot teach!!
Dr. Lammers is an excellent educator and can explain complex concepts well. Yes, this class was hard. But nothing will be on the tests that wasn't discussed in class. She's a picky grader, so answer test questions as completely as you can. USE HER OUTLINE TO STUDY!!! Studying in groups isn't a bad idea either.
She is a very nice person. As far as grading goes, her scale is really low, so it is very much possible to attain an A. My friend rarely attended class and he ended up with a B.
HORRID!!!!!!!!horrid!!!!! save your G.P.A and your interest in Biology!!! She'll make you hate plants animals and everything in between. Impossible exams, picky grader, pop quizes. AVOID!!!
Very not nice professor. Seems to dislike many students because of their gender. Also, she talks to herself quite often and has a love for Victorian Dolls. Class is easy A , but she cannot teach freshmen because her expectactions are too high. She also likes to insult people for fun, no matter what they say. Take someone else for BIO.
Do not take other professors for BioLab... while Dr. Lammers is a difficult grader and her class will be more challenging at face value, her sheer amount of knowledge on the subject and her high expectations will help you. Sometimes I felt like I knew the stuff and was surprised by my grades, but ultimately if you want to learn, take her.
Extremely helpful and fair. Her tests are hard, but she tells you what she wants you to know.
Dr Lammers knows her stuff when it comes to botany. However, she expects you to know just as much as she does. She is a very hard and picky grader who will take off points for questions she will ask AFTER the test is over. She mispronounces some words here and there, but knows everything about botany. She's a sweet lady, but not a good prof.
if you don't mind studying hrs on end for a 1 credit hr class then by all means take lammers...
It's just not worth the time + effort put into the class for a mediocre grade. Quizzes are a bit ridiculous, need to know everything 1 is dropped. Practicals require a lot of studying too. Overall she knows her stuff. No curve because she claims that it is not doing the student a favor because science classes are just going to get harder. Good luck
Great teacher and great person but she is very old fashioned and if you mess up at all you have no chance at an A. I got a C- on the first test and A's on the other two and still only got a B+.
Lammers knows her stuff. But she is so picky. There are much better out there so I would try not to take her unless you want to work super hard and have it not pay off. She takes off tenths of a point for the littlest thing. She is very nice, but don't make her your first priority.
She's a sweet old lady but has one of those soothing monotone voices that puts you to sleep easily. She's also super nitpicky.
Don't listen to other people, they are just badmouthing about her. I found her class easy. An A is very manageable. Just read the manual and pay attention in class. Initially, she might look intimidating but she is very nice. And she usually has a TA which just makes it better. Take Her - you will not regret. I love her!
she is so hard. its one credit..it shouldnt be as hard it is. half my class failed and dropped out. its not worth it.
she has her nice and funny moments, but shes tough most of the time. i would not suggest taking her, shes the head of the biology lab department.
If you want to slack off and not work hard, forget about it. Lammers is challenging in her tests, quizzes and she does ask questions during lecture. She is funny at times but she will not allow students to be lazy. Lab grading is harsh at times but make sure you pay attention to detail. I got an A- but that's only cause I worked my ass off.
