Great lady. Kept me interested. Has a lot of great knowledge on contemporary arts and well as the masters. She also a really cool chick!
great prof. strict though i got less corrected by my english prof on my grammer ( hard class to take in the summer 5.5 )
She grades papers harder than English Profs but doesn't actually count off for all the mistakes she points out. Great lectures, easy class if you stay on top of your stuff. I've seen people fail miserably as well but that was really their fault
This class is probably the most boring class i have attended so far in my short college career.. She requires you to be in class and if you go over a certain number of absences she takes off an entire letter grade..I would not recommend this teacher if your just there for an art credit
I liked the class I took with Roberta. It was mostly a factual-study class (recalling facts for tests) and memorization. There were two essays, both of which were very hard-graded.. Harder than my English professor. I recommend, but if you're looking for an easy A then she may not be your ticket.
Best professor I've had in my 60+ hours of college. Made a hard class fun and enjoyable. Study guides are useful. If you go to class and study, you'll make an A. She's organized and cares about her students. Takes attendance, but allows 2 weeks absences. Can do extra credit if you miss more.
AMAZING professor, one of the best classes I've ever taken at ACC. Professor Weston is able to bring works of art to life, thoroughly detailing the history behind each piece. This class was never boring..the tests were not easy, but fair. She also gives two weeks of excused absence
i took art hist1 with professor weston, she really enjoys what she teaches and is inspiring! ALOT OF MEMORIZATION class is not easy, but if you study the blackboard test and study guides she gives you its not so bad i would definately not skip out on the textbook she also lets you drop lowest test grade and the final is not cumulative GREAT TEACHER
I took DL class and was very impressed with her organization and motivation to help students learn. She provided powerpoints, study guides, lecture notes, etc. and offered study sessions. The tests are not easy, but she gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. I was disinterested in art history at first, but I've since had a change of heart!
Took her for intro to visual arts. Has no idea what she is talking about. When asked a question that she does not know she looks to the class to answer. Has to lecture off her notes. Most of the test questions are not on any of the slides or even in the book. does offer powerpoint slides and reviews but are pointless. pointless and boring.
Great professor. I took the honors course. It's well worth it to take Professor Weston.
I am taking Professor Weston for art history via distance learning. I really like her so far. She is serious when she says the test questions come off the study guide! She gives extra credit opportunity and drops lowest test grade. She is tough on papers but gives ways to make up grade if you are willing to work hard for it. I would recommend her!
Do not take this class unless you have A LOT of free time to study. Way to much time is wasted in class on each individual painting. Was very frustrating. Took way to much time away from my other classes.Nice lady but not worth sacrificing my other classes.
Took online. Not reading the book isn't an option & she provides tons of additional study guides. 4 forum posts 150-300 words each (easy). 4 tests, she drops lowest testscore or you don't take the 4th test. 2 papers. Isn't an easy class, there's a lot to cover but I read the book & studied. I got an 'A' but she doesn't hand it to you. Learned a lot
I feel like she sincerely cared about my success. I did not finish a paper in time and she actually emailed me a few days past the deadline to make sure everything was okay and to ask if I needed any help. She gave us tons of opportunity to get a good grade.
interesting lady with a lot of knowledge on subject matter, tests were pretty close to study guide and actually easier than the study guide would have you believe. take notes, make flash cards, get the big picture. book not really important.overall, loved it!
So very helpful, it's obvious she really enjoys her job and it wears off on you and makes you in turn be very excited to learn about art history. Her projects and papers are very easy and pretty fun, you get a lot of freedom on them. Her tests are very close to the reviews. Would definitely take her again!
excellent professor! She was organized, well prepared and clear about expectations. There was a lot of material to absorb, but the way she presented the material was very helpful in the learning process. Be prepared to put in some effort, but it will pay off. I would take another class with her, she is really good.
So boring. If you have any interest in art don't take this class. She makes art so uninteresting and monotonous. Lost all interest in it.
This professor was nice. She has extreme work load. i took this clas during summer online and this was a teacher who did not take "summer time" into consideration. Tests are multiple choice however, the work load over whelmed me and the reviews provided were to intense that I could not focus on what to study for for the test.
This teacher is very good. She knows her Art History. Classes go by fast because her lectures are interesting. It's not an easy A.. Her tests cover a lot of material so you have to study. She does give chapter reviews so you know what to expect. 4 test, your lowest is dropped. 2 papers and 1 class presentation.
Roberta is the best teacher I have ever had. I would have taken Art II if she taught it. If you're a bad student you will fail this class. I took this class as an after thought and it became my favorite college class ever.
Love Prof. Weston. She really cares about her students. The class isn't hard, but you have to actually work if you want an A. She is very passionate about the subject and will go out of her way to help you succeed. Thought about taking other classes of hers even though they weren't in my degree plan!
This should have been a fun interesting class but Weston is entirely too serious about this subject. Teaching style very boring, heavy focus on history aspect, not the art itself. Does not leave anything open to personal interpretation. Two papers required that are entirely too time consuming. Way too hard of a class for what it is, lighten up!!
4 MCexams w/image identification & 4 short papers (300 words) All the questions on the exam are from the study guide, no surprises, dont need the book. Youve to memorize some images and be able to identify them but its not that much and she gives extra credits for each extra one you get correct. Her class isnt outstanding but isnt boring. Love her!
This professor makes you work for your grade, but you can tell she knows her stuff. Almost everything is in her powerpoints, which are at some times dull... HOWEVER you will learn a lot about the cultures and movements she covers. Very thorough. She also offers reviews for tests. There are no surprises. Remember your coffee if you take her at 9am!
Very power-point orientated so very good for visual learners like myself. The study guides have all the answers to the test but it is very study intensive.
Disliked her class. Took A LOT of your time to finish the course. Warning: If you're really interested in Art history, then take her class. If not, you will feel the pain once you start taking her class. Grades toughly!
Roberta is pleasant, personable, and passionate. Very friendly and helpful during office hours. Her lectures are far more interesting than the awful book the college uses. As a non-arts major, I still found the history aspect of her course interesting. Her honors course really challenged my writing ability.
I knew Roberta was a great teacher when I took her AH II class but now that I have a subpar AH I teacher this semester at ACC I really appreciate how amazing she was! Very organized, passionate, thoughtful, helpful, informative, challenging. If you're a good student, you will appreciate her as a great instructor. R. Weston rules!
She is not easy. I mean, you have to do your best to get a good grade. However, what a lecture she has! What a person she is! It is worthwhile taking her class. She is the best professor I have met in ACC.
This online course was straightforward. There is a lot of material, but she gives you extra credit for taking quizzes online. I was able to Google most of the questions and find online study guides. Test must be taken at a campus testing center, which was the online downside. You have to write a paper to get an A, no big deal. Read the syllabus!
I am an Art History lover so this class was amazing for me. There is lots of information and Professor Weston gives lots of lecture notes. If you read the information, the tests should be no problem. There are quizzes and a paper due but nothing too difficult. Professor Weston was very quick to respond to emails and always helpful when needed.
online summer art - LOTS of material so you do HAVE TO read and memorize, but it is doable and with all the extra credit and her willingness to help you should get a good grade! I am not an art lover but I actually enjoyed her class!
I took her art hist online class. be prepared to reaaaaaad alooot and memorizee alotttt. she replies back really fast and very helpful. her tests are long but she literally give you study guides that are almost the same as the test itself. and she gives lots of extra credit
Her class is tough specially because i'm not an art history lover, but she's very fair with her grading and she emails back really fast. she makes you work for your grade and there's a lot of materials to memorize. shes an amazing professor you'll be lucky to have her and you sure will learn a lot
Would highly recommend to anyone who needs to take this class or would enjoy it. Easy, granted lots of reading, but she has very clear information in her study guides and its all you need for tests. Not alot of homework just reading and studying.
She's a great teacher, very vivid in her way of teaching with a spot on correlation between lectures and test. MUST: Listen and pay attention to her lectures. The tests not only involve facts/definitions/history/the symbolism of certain pieces or figures from the slides, but also the things/details she mentions 'on the side'. So listen carefully.
She gives lots of extra credit! Get ready to ready theres a lot of materials, the tests are long but she drops the lowest one. She emails back really fast and very fair with her grading. I took her online class and Love it!
Prof Weston gives a very interesting lecture... be prepared to have discussions in class and study hard for the tests and you will do well. You must memorize approx 20 artists and art then I.D. approx 5 on a test. Extra credit is available. Great person and fun class! There is a group project, so stay involved and lead!
Great teacher! Lectures are interesting and she allows time for participation. The tests can be difficult but she gives you all the information you need to do well, you just need to spend the time to be ready for it. She gives good feedback and is accessible.
The class material itself was pretty easy. She gives out study guides that are the basis every test- so I pretty much made A's on all of them. She expects class participation, but otherwise she's pretty easy going. Her class can be uncomfortable when we're supposed to talk about things we don't really understand yet with the class.
She's a awesome, brilliant professor and her class requires a lot of attention and studying. Very interesting and she's a great teacher, but a time consuming, stressful class.
One of the best professors I have ever had! Professor Weston is very knowledgeable and thorough. Her lectures are amazing! The tests cover large periods of time, meaning, that the tests are hard if you don't study. She provides tons of supplemental material and study guides. She creates a great environment for questions and comments!
I took the 11-week online summer course. This was my first online course. Professor Weston gives multiple chances for extra credit, completing practice questions will give you points on the tests. 4 tests total but she drops the lowest one. One 4 page essay that is very simple. Overall I didn't read more than a couple chapters but barely got a C.
I took her online class this semester and it went well. I failed the first test with a 50. I went into her office hours and she helped me with studying tips and also with my art history paper. Helped me turn thing around. do all the quizzes she give for extra credit, do all the onine forums and be sure to study all picture I.D.'s.
Ms. Weston is an amazing professor. As long as you show up and put forth a little bit of effort, you can make an A. Ms. Weston is so passionate about what she does and is very fun to listen to. She gives a study guide at the beginning of each section with all of the test material in it. Just try and you will do well.
Loved this class! There's lots of memorization, both of terms and of visual elements. Weston is good with feedback and easy to communicate with. The exams are monsters, not gonna lie, but if you read and work on the slides you'll do great. Really interesting and fun class!
This class was incredible! Roberta is incredibly sweet and will do whatever she can to help you do well in the course. She provides her notes on each chapter. Everything on her exams come from her notes and the textbook isn't needed. She provides some discussion board topics for you to choose from. Research paper was time consuming but not too hard
Professor Weston is very nice and helpful, and the lectures are clear and interesting. The class isn't easy, but if you go to class and follow the directions precisely on homework assignments & group projects, you won't have too much trouble getting an A or B.
I took this Art History II course in the ACC Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy with Professor Weston in Summer 2017, so we we able to see most of the artwork in person, and it was incredible! She knows so much about the History of the time, which puts the artwork and the artist into context; and then the whole story comes alive!
currently in her art history 1 class, but already want to rate because shes's probably my favorite professor at ACC now, so far doing good in her class, i honestly thought that this would be my hardest class this semester but this is the one im doing best in. go to class, do review questions for tests and you'll pass.
Professor Weston's class is not a blow off creative arts course. Get ready to WORK and earn the credit. That being said she is extremely kind, patient, provides tons of support/extra resources, and brings a lot of knowledge and passion to the course. Overall it was an interesting class and I'm glad I took it with her.
Professor Weston was very excellent. You will learn a lot in her class. The tests are challenging, but if you follow the study guide and the image key, you will do just fine. I suggest doing the practice tests. Not only will they prepare you for each test but you will get extra credit for them. She is a very cool person. Positive environment.
Overall the class is a challenging, you have to study and memorize a lot of things in order to do well on tests. She doesn't lecture somethings that are on tests so you have to read the book but she provides helpful study guides and review questions. Lectures are really interesting and she also gives extra credit !!
Took her online class and it was the best choice I made in my life! She helps you and gives you A TON of extra credit opportunities and gives you all the material you need to study (I didn't even need to read the textbook). I only used the textbook for the Forum Essay we had to submit which were 300-450 words requirement essay. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!
she is a very nice teacher but gets off topic on powerpoint. I felt like I was teaching myself she does give you a study guide but its basically everything she puts on the powerpoints and shes good at pointing out vocab words. I never used the book but the images you need to memorized a lot, she give you like 40 images and her only testes you on 7
Took her for an online class. She provides a lot of material to help you study. Lots of memorization and reading but her tests aren't that bad if you know the material. She will drop the lowest test grade and gives a lot of time to take exams (most are due on a Saturday).
Upbeat, helpful, and encouraging! Prepare to read and *memorize* (this is art history after all), but coursework is reasonable: 4 tests, 4 short DBs, possibly 1 paper, plenty of extra credit. Textbook is fascinating but not overloaded. Many resources to prepare you for tests. Grades reasonably, and tests account for you forgetting a few details.
She is willing to help. I had to read the book a lot as I was following through the study guide. Learn the vocabulary words and the images within a week of the test. She provides opportunity for extra points in the class. Projects take some time but not bad. Tests are quite heavy because they come from this she said in class and the study guide
She's wonderful as a lecturer and an individual. You can really tell she loves art. I took her Honors Art History II course, it was a bit challenging to keep a steady interest in the material, but that's my subjective experience. 3 Tests, essay over custom artist. Extra credit for almost every test.
4 exams, 4 forums, 1 paper. SG's usually long (13-17 pg), asks ?'s on test on stuff not in txtbk/study guide. Image identification unreasonable, picks 6-7, fill in the blank for 5-7 answers/image, out of at least 20 images (100+ answers to remember). 2 tests have 3 diagrams, matching (easy) GBLESS. Some EC offered DO IT (quizlet). Glad to be done!!
Very hard tests. I would not recommend.
This teacher thinks she is teaching an engineering or mathematics course with the amount of material covered. Some how I'm struggling in a Art History 1 class but passed several engineering courses with straight A's. She is disillusionary, I recommend avoiding this "teacher" at all costs.
Absolutely blessing of a teacher. Shes so understanding and helpful. I never even got the chance to meet her in person bc I took her online class but shes by far my favorite professor ever. Shes the epitome of a what a teacher should be. TAKE HER CLASS
Normally, I hate history (even if it is art), but Roberta was such an incredibly passionate teacher that I found myself genuinely interested in the material. You can really tell how much she cares about the subject. Also, about half your grade is from the tests, but she tells you exactly what's going to be on them, so it's easy if you just study.
Weston is a great prof: genuinely loves her students + her field. She is v prompt on email, & wants u to succeed (lots of EC, study guides, flashcards, vids, etc). I didnt find tests v hard (they r mult. choice), and essays were fun. Obv, being an art hist, its very lecture-heavy. Also, considering this class was during COVID, she did GREAT!!
she will expect you to participate in discussion during class, so if you're uncomfortable with that, just know that she will always be respectful of what you have to say. tests are open-book open-note. i hardly ever read the book because the lectures, powerpoints, and study guides she provided were so detailed. she wants you to succeed
I dropped after looking at the material for the first test. There is SO much that you have to do to pass this class, and I could never attend lectures because this class runs at exactly the same time as my other class. THREE essays for one test that covers four chapters? A 4 page research paper AND a presentation slide for a project? Chile please
She's a great professor! Pretty much all of the assignments are short essays but they are super easy since she provides so much material for you. The tests aren't terrible either, just short essays (That she sends to you a week prior) and multiple choice. Super nice lady, just might answer emails a little late. I would take her again if I could!
Ridiculous load. Her testing approach is overwhelming: 3 essays and 40 questions in 2 hours. You are welcome to do some prewriting, so you can copy and past. The problem is -there's approximately 30-40 artworks, which is equal to 30-40 essays. Every 3 weeks. Nothing pleasant about this course as you would expect from the art, just total sacrifice .
Horribly disorganized and unclear with instructions. Coursework is heavy in writing and she grades based on vague rubrics. I wish I could say that I recommend her because she is nice but overall the class is unpleasant!
Class is organized in four units. Use the Blackboard site course material--tests are based on study guides and lecture notes. Tests are online: open book, open note. Because they are not taken in testing centers, she does have essays on exams. Essay prompts are sent out ahead of time for students to prepare. I got good feedback on written work.
Course covered a lot, but grading was fair. Online forum posts and open book online tests for each unit and a final paper on contemporary art. Had to prepare essays for the online exams, but questions were given ahead of time.
Great class and professor. Cares about students and responds quickly to emails. Well organized online format with support materials--prerecorded zoom sessions, slide lessons, and study guides that tests. Tests are multiple choice with one or two essays given ahead of time.
Very helpful professor. Detailed instructions on everything, always willing to help. Optional extra credit assignments that helped spark my interest in art. Lots of reading but also very fascinating subjects! Remember to ask for help if needed!
Took the in person class. She encouraged discussion and taught the class in interesting way. You can tell she's excited about art history, and she respects students. Good feedback and quick turn around on assignments. I got good guidance on the contemporary art assignment which made it more manageable. One of my favorite classes.
shes super nice and its a fairly easy class. I took it online and there was def a LOT online lectures to listen too. there's a fair amount of essays you have to write but a lot of the content is covered in those prerecorded lectures. Not a hard class.
Professor Weston cares about Art History, I recommend taking her honors course if you can, it's the perfect format to really get to participate in class. One of the 'awful' ratings below claims that her tests have three essay questions; the tests have three OPTIONS for the essay question, the prompts are given ahead of time, you choose one.
Professor Weston was a great teacher to have for Art History Honors. She loves the course and knows her material in and out. I really appreciated the effort she put into her content. To do well you definitely need to attend class and complete the assignments. There's a good amount to do, but it's not overwhelming whatsoever. Loved having her!
Prof Weston's class is genuinely inspiring and interesting. She is passionate about Art History which makes each lecture enjoyable. Async class consists of 4 300 wd. discussion posts, 4 mini-essays each attached to the multiple-choice unit tests, and 1 project/essay at the end of the semester. Lots of writing but worth it. Take this class!
So educational! It was amazing to research different artists that I typically would not have. She does assign 4 papers with random artists, then 3 mini compare/contrast papers, and another with a project in the end. She gives clear guidelines on all of the work and amazing feedback! Don't miss turning in papers- it'll knock a whole letter grade:'(
Great professor allowed me to rewrite my final test essay so i could get an A in the class
Professor Weston is amazing and one of the most knowledgeable teachers about her subject that you have access to at ACC – so take advantage of it! If you like art, art history, or history, you will love her class. If you expect to pass easily without doing any work, do not take this class. You will do work but it will be fun and fulfilling.
Super chill prof. Took this async and it was breeze. Open note tests (not proctored), learning guides for every unit, quick email replies, and actually gives helpful feedback. Lectures were solid too. Only wish there were more small assignments to help retain info. Overall 5/5 ong 🔥
Caring and chill professor, I took her class because it was a requirement for my major. She gives good feedback and doesn't grade harshly on essays. There are four exams 2-hour exam, but she gives a good window to finish the exam. As long as you read through the textbook and smart history, you'll get a solid grade on your work. Good Professor :)
Easily one of the best professors I've studied under! I had low expectations for an art history class that had nothing to do with my major, but this semester has been very insightful. Participation is encouraged, but not pushed. Understanding professor, quick responses, engaging lectures, fun essays, open note exams.
Excellent class and professor, it grew my admiration for art and was super interesting. I recommend taking her class, make sure to attend, and start your papers ahead of time because they are the majority of your grade.
