Blatant liberal. If you don't write your essays according to her views, you've failed already. Possibly the worst professor to ever teach at Rowan.
Most biased grading ever. You can have an A paper in any other class, but she will still give u a B or lower for no apparant reason other than she is above everybody else. Avoid her.

She needs to learn how to teach. Grading based on the best essay is at best a useless technique. Is not open minded about essays, which is REQUIRED. Overall, she should retire. Period.
Stop complaining & do what she asks, you'll do fine. I was a horrible writer, and her class made me better. She is a nice lady if you are nice to her as well. She is strongly opinionated, so FOLLOW her opinion to get an A, it's that simple.

Very helpful. Expect to do work or you will fail. Show her your trying and listen to what she says and you'll do fine. I took her for both comp classes bc she was that helpful to me.
i busted my butt in this class and nothing was ever good enough for this lady until she rewrote my essays. i took comp ii and had an a, therefore what does she know.absolutley, stinkin nothing and thats a fact, jack.
She was a ****! I hated going to her class. I got an A in Comp 1 and she told me that the professor should have been fired because I don't know how to write! I have gotten a B and higher on ever single paper I ever wrote at Rowan, except in her class!

She is very one-minded and doesn't like it if you don't take her point of view. I got a good grade, but only because I've had great writing teachers before...she was absolutely no help at all. Really annoying.
Roberta Zehner is probably the best teacher to take if you really want to improve your writing skills. She is not easy by any means, but you will learn! She is very entertaining and she has a lisp that will keep you laughing the whole semester! Dont take this class if you dont want to work hard!
she is a really good teacher. if u ask for help writing a paper she'll basically write the paper for u. also if u give her a rough draft to look at before handing in hte actual paper she will tell u exactly what to change to get a good grade. i really liked her class it was entertaining
Plain and simple she sucks. She is really unfair. If you kiss her *** you might get an B.
Chances are you probably wont get an A. So if that's what you are looking for, then get out! But you'll learn how to write properly and you'll get a chance to see a master in action! She's entertaining, but demanding and YOU WILL WORK HARD!!! Do things her way and you'll get a B+ at the most. Only saints get A's!
she is biased in her grading system and how she teaches her class. she always makes her opinions known. If she doesn't like your writing right away... you are screwed because she will grade you as if you are a getting your masters degree, and you will not get higher then a C. Basically dont get her as a teacher becasue the work is not worth it.
I hated her. She is biased and will let you know her opinion on everthing. If it is hard for you to write I don't recomend that you take her.

Wait a second, this is college and you should not be able to graduate without knowing how to write, no matter what your major. Zehner has high standards and she will make you a better writer. Her class prepared me for upper level writing assignements. How many of you have visited the Rowan writing lab for free writing help?
The funny thing is, she comes off so nice...until you get back your first paper with an F. I came into it with a great attitude and tried very hard and still kept failing! Mind you I recieved an A in CCI. I had to withdraw eventually. She is an extremely tough grader and if you struggle with writing DO NOT take her class.
She is really tough, not to mention she sends mixed messages. On the first week she was reading my diagnostic to the class and praising my thesis, then im getting C's on my essays. Every time i revise my essay she finds something new about it she doesn't like. If she would set exactly what she wanted in the beginning It would be fine. No a's here
This was easily the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. All through high school I got As on every paper same with all my other classes here. Zehner only gives Bs or lower and on mine she said they "Aren't even grade worthy." If you don't agree with her polical views, she doens't like you. Talks more about politics than the subject material.
Terrible teacher. Never gave good grades to anyone. Barely survived with a C in the class. Took CC2 and got an A-! She is a really unfair grader. Don't take her if possible.
RUN AWAY! Don't take her, she's crazy. She puts students on the spot, makes fun of them, is generally a nasty person. Waaay too much pointless work. Hard grader. Don't waste your energy/hurt your GPA by taking Zehner's comp classes.
Extremely difficult for absolutely no reason. She belittles and makes fun of students regualarly. On top of it all, she isn't a very good teacher. Do yourself a favor: don't think that you'll be alright if you're good at writing, it doesn't matter to her!
She's not easy but she's not ridiculous either. However, she does grade papers rather harshly, the trick is just to bash Bush cause she loves that. I ended up liking her but i didnt get a great grade, she's weird sometimes too, but she'll argue in class which makes time pass.
She frustrated me at the beginning of the semester because she cares more about format than the quality of the writing. But if you take her feedback seriously and if you are humble enough to listen to her and not get too angry you'll do pretty well. A lot of hard work out of class but I pretty much slept in class. Talks a lot about politics.
She has a tendency to make fun of students on a regular basis. She will also rip apart your writing, even if you're really good. I took AP English in high school and was told I was a good writer, but she told me that my teacher was wrong. Like I said, she will really frustrate you to no end. I don't suggest taking her if you can help it.

Impossible class. Very politically biased teacher. We had an assignment to decide whether or not a speech by Bush was sound/not sound. Anyone who said it was sound had to rewrite the entire paper. She gives Fs without any reason (aka no comments written on paper). Do not take if you can help it.
Very difficult. If you take it, figure out what her opinion is on the subject she assigns, and write from that side and you should be ok. Otherwise, dont take her.
well, shes a really intelligent lady, very well spoken and articulates a lot. good luck with the essays, ask her for help with the essays and you better share her views, otherwise your grade will suffer. ok teacher i guess

if you have a political view, your half way there. if your view disagrees with hers, your SOL. If you have no view, make one up, and make sure it agrees with hers. Oh yeah, there's also some writing involved. The more outward with your opinion you are, the better. If you really dont care about politics, youll wanna die.
She's a nice woman, but a horrible teacher. The essays...forget it. Her grading is very innconsistant and shes gives you NO FEED back. It's Comp! Throughtout my essays she would write "Good Pt! Good Detail!" but I would end up with a C- grade. Don't take her.
Prof. Zehner is tough on students who are not good writers. She tends to push her political beliefs upon students slightly. She requires a lot of journal writing throughout the semester, probably like 50 hand written pages in all. Sometimes I felt as if I was back in elementary school going over sentence structure but some kids needed that.
She is a nice lady and helpfull but She is every strict grader. She gave me F by just reading first paragraph of my paper. I took the same paper and show it to my old comp teacher and she gave my A in that same paper. You better be a good write if you want to take her.
You have to do everything according to her. if you do any thing with out asking her, she will just give you bad grade. And try to stay on her good side. She actully try to involve the whole class. she is every hard grader and if she don't like your paper from the starting she is just going to give you F, she don't even read the whole paper.
Difficult teacher, definitely have to stay on her good side. Very understanding of freshman transition however, if you make lots of meetings and act interested and motivated she will take that into account.
This class involved a lot of useless journal writing, she is a sweet lady for the most part but has a very particular opinion of everything and wants you to have the same opinion when you write, Going into the end of the semester she gave me the idea that I had a high A in the class and I ended with a B, she doesn't really give grade updates

Grades very harshly and will call you out in class if you did not do the work she assigned to you. She is extremely vague in her directions and its either her way or the highway with EVERYTHING. If you want to juggle as many as four papers all assigned simultaneously, then take this class.
I had her for Comp I and thought she was very hard when grading our essays. If you're not an amazing writer she rips apart your essay and you have to do revisions until it's perfect, which makes the grade for it drop a letter each time she makes more revisions. But I ended up improving my writing and getting a B-. Take her if you want to improve.

Very tough grader. Nice lady though. Even if she likes you she will tear apart your paper and make you do a revision. She also likes to talk down to the class like we are special ed. Takes forever to explain things. If you have a short amount of patience and an even shorter attention span, good luck.
She was hard at first but then you realize that she improves your writing by alot! If you want to improve it take her. If you show her you care she will consider that while grading your papers
Mrs. Zehner seemed like a really nice lady but, she's not a good teacher. She tells you one thing and then expects another. She's a really hard grader, and has you write about harder topics than other professors. I would not recommend taking her class.
Her class seems like it's a lot harder than it has to be while you're taking it, but you find that it really does help. She is very condescending and puts people on the spot often so if you're easily offended by things like that, I would suggest taking someone else.
I usually enjoy my writing classes but I dreaded going to her class. She was very boring and did not make any effort to make the material interesting. I did not find her writing critique useful and I did not get anything out of her class. Class time was usually wasted on trivial and nonrelevent material.
Professor Zehner is a teacher who cares a lot. She will spend some classes going over grammar and will assist the entire class in making outlines for her essays. You can make several revisions to your papers before getting a final grade. There is a final, but she prepares you well. If you don't like writing, tough, for she makes sure you learn how
The actual assignments are not difficult to write, but the way that she teaches the class is like pulling teeth. If she's not talking about political issues, she's teaching how to summarize or alphabetize things. She can be very condescending. Her grading is confusing and it can be difficult to understand what she expects of you.
The assignments that she gave were not difficult, but once she graded them she told everyone to redo them, as well as changing her mind. She was condescending, talked way too much about hot button political issues, and was very rude if you expressed your opinion in class.
This teacher changes her mind about what she expects out of an assignment from class to class, making completing the assignment the way she wants it nearly impossible. Be sure not to have any opinion at all, because she will shoot it done. Also, dont make any plans for the rest of the semester because her "maximum of two papers" are actually 10.
Do not take her class. She is a horrible grader and will make you rewrite your essays over and over. If it's under a B you're forced to rewrite it. Her grading scale is ridiculous (a 90 is a B) and she always contradicts herself. The phrase "If this was a law class" is one you'll be really familiar with.
She thinks it's a law class. Everything you write about will have to do with some sort of law. She always talks about her son and she definitely has her favorites. You always have to rewrite your papers and it is nearly impossible to get the paper the way she wants. She always grades by acceptable and not acceptable. I would not recommend her.
PSA TO HIGH SCHOOL AP STUDENTS: AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Coming out of high school as one of the top English students, this class only confused and brought my writing down. I knew everything about a research paper and STILL couldn't understand what the heck she was saying. Crazy old woman. Too many times I contemplated escaping through the window.
She makes you rewrite papers literally all the time and gives a TON of work. She talks a lot especially about her son. Zehner is pretty difficult so just like don't take her if you don't have to.
Professor Zehner was by far the hardest grader I've encountered so far. I'd only recommend her if you are smart and hard working. While she is difficult she will make you a better writer. But beware, she will talk about politics almost every class and single you out if you speak up.
Great teacher, she is old school but as long as you show up to her class and give your best effort she will appreciate that and it will show in your grade. She calls you out if you are lazy and don't show up to class, so beware. With other students she was very flexible with due dates.
She is a super hard grader, and drops letter grades on papers for little things. Overall, she drove me nuts, and would say something different every time I met with her, so it was hard to decipher quite what she wanted most of the time. The 3 words you need to know for her class are politics, perseverance, and more politics. Good Luck.
This professor is not scared to drop your A paper to a B- over a few grammatical errors. She tends to bring in her own personal opinions into topics and from fellow classmates we have concluded she tends to grade your paper better if you lean towards her side. Proceed with caution if writing is not your favorite thing.
I love love love her she's awesome and will make you a better writer without having to write a million papers! She's really understanding and I don't know how anyone could not like her class. I'm a science major so english isn't my thing but she definitely had a positive impact on me. I had her for Comp 1 and just registered for her Comp 2 class.

If you are looking for a teacher who will give you an easy A this is not the professor for you. She is a very tough grader but made me a better writer for sure. Lots of reading and assignments due but I am very prepared for Comp II
The absolute worst teacher Ive ever experienced in my entire life. I have never failed a class EVER. I failed this one. Attendance is mandatory and I turned all my work in on time always and I still failed. Horrible teacher.
