This professor is excellent! Very clear notes and lecture. Lectures most of the time aren't boring. Tests fairly easy if you take the time to study. Easy to get along with and very helpful.
Highly recommend flex course. Kind of fast pace but great teacher. Very helpful.

Girls think he is good looking. He is a very good teacher. Makes you laugh. Lectures are interesting NOT boring. Always in a good mood. The only thing is that his tests seem somewhat difficult but then you do need to study a lot for Biology.
He's always smiling and in a good mood. Explains difficult concepts very well and in terms we could all understand. Uses fun metapors in his explanations. His quizzes and tests can be tricky and tough so study hard. Gives extra credit opportunities all the time!
Dr. Gonzalez is awesome. I definetly recomend taking him. His test are hard but as long as you study you will do great in his class. He tells you pretty much everything thats going to be on the test.
If you want an easy A, DO NOT TAKE HIM! The most confusing and fast pace teacher ever! It made me almost want to switch my major because it was such a struggle. He likes to see students fail, and caters to those who excell in his class. The tests were really difficult and would test you over things never reviewed before.
Dr. Gonzales is a great teacher if you really want to learn. A&P is not the easiest class to take, but he explains everything so thoroughly until you tell him you understand. He is funny and always pleasant. I took him for A&P1 and am now in his A&P2 class and glad such a great professor is there to present all that material. I would love to ta
Mr. G is a good teacher! You have to study because his tests are hard but he makes you learn the subject. Excellent at getting the information across!
This class is very difficult. He's a good guy but doesn't seem to get into detail. You need to study a whole lot for this class. He's a very tough instrustor, so tough it made me drop his class. I wish the best of luck to whoever gets him.
He is a great teacher and you walk out of his class with a lot of knowledge. You definitely get your moneys worth!
he is a wonderful professor you do need to study, this is such an reading intensive class. if you want an easy a do NOT take Dr. G he wants you to learn the material given and if you have ears then you will learn. those who say he is hard are those who are used to not having to work. excellent prof.
Great professor. Crystal clear in his teaching. Would take him again.
Dr. G is a hard teacher however he is a really good teacher. If anybody goes into this class thinking it should be an easy A it is not going to be. A & P is a hard class but Dr. G makes it interesting and i highly reccomend them.
ouch...this class was hard...im not gunna lie...i knw there was a lota w/draws
Dr. Gonzales really loves biology and his love for it is contagious--especially when he talks about his research. If you want to learn about biology--this is the teacher to take!
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER, HOWEVER, HIS CLASS IS VERY HARD AND REQUIRED MANY HOURS OF STUDY TIME. WELL, IF YOU WANT AN A OR B. A GOOD CLASS TO TAKE IF YOU WANT TO LEARN A LOT.
Be prepared to study... if you dont study you will not pass... he is a great professor... but if you dont study you will NOT pass...I personally am an A student but I barely passed with a B. I would reccomend him only if you have no life... I think if he were to get married or have kids he would probably be much nicer when it comes to grades.......
Dr. Gonzales is an awesome teacher - my favorite teacher I've had at NVC by far. I took him for both A&P I and II. He expects you to learn the material, but is always fair. He makes the info interesting and fun, and you can tell he likes what he's teaching. I would highly recommend taking him if you really want to learn A&P and enjoy the class.
LOVED THIS CLASS! i am a nursing major and am now in nursing school, Mr. G definitely prepared me for nursing school! Would take him again if i could! Very helpful, kind and has no problem giving extra tutoring... studying is required.
Dr. G was an awesome teacher. Anyone who says that his class was difficult is someone who walked in expecting a free A. Medicine is hard, and if your whining about this course, do NOT pursue a career here. He was very fair about grades, and if you talked to him you'd know he had a family and kids. : )
He was great! Very understanding and helpful. You have to be present to get it, but he really helps you. Always available for meetings.
THIS IS DEFINATELY A STUDY HARD CLASS. NOT TIME FOR ANYTHING ELSE. IF YOU HAVE A FAMILY DO NOT TAKE DR GONZALES. HE IS INTENSE, DOES TEACH YOU THOUGH. I AM AN A STUDENT, NOT WITH HIS CLASS, NO MATTER HOW HARD I STUDIED AND I DID, I COULDNT SEEM TO ACHIEVE MY HIGH STANDARDS. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Great teacher, super hard class but if you study enough, attend class and ask for help if needed, you'll do good. He's always willing to help his students with anything. I'd definitely recommend his class but only if you are prepared to work your butt off. It will NOT be easy.
He is a cool teacher.
This guy will help you get to the next level of education cuz he really challenges you. if you plan to be in allied health then he will help u succeed
If a good-looking instructor will distract u, dont take this professor. :) dr gonzo is very helpful and he cares about his students. course was xtremely easy...just show up. workload is simple.
always made things easy to understand.
He is one tough cookie, but a great lecturer. Be prepared to study, study, study!! An A is not easy to come by, but you can do it if you're dedicated to studying your butt off!
LOVED this class. I always have a tough time studying for science-related stuff. he made it so easy to understand! just study and do his reviews and you will be fine. go to class, he always tells you ?'s that will be on the test. BEST PROF I HAVE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN!!! I have been to many schools, this is the best that it gets!!!!!!!
This class is very intense, but you have to have time to study. THere is so much material to go over in such a short amount of time. Prof is always so helpful, not to mention hot!! But study, study study and you will be fine. He is a great prof and really want his students to succeed. Make sure you buy all materials for this class!!
Dr.Gonzales is one awesome teacher!!! His class is hard but explains everything very well. I would recommend getting a recorder for his lectures. He is funny, smart, and easy to get along with. Best A&P teacher ever. Ill be taking him again for A&PII! If your looking for an easy A then dont even bother taking his class because you'll fail.Godd Luck!
If your a student that is looking for an easy A, don't take him!! This instructor is all about teaching you the right way to perpare you for the real world. If nursing is your major, please take him. He is the best teacher I've ever had. He loves his students and is very helpful. Just study and you'll be fine. You can't slack off and expect an "A"
GREAT TEACHER!!! SO NICE AND HELPFUL. I WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN FOR SURE.
PROFESSOR GONZALES IS AMAZING!!! If I could take him for every science class I would! Please note that this class is not an easy A. You WILL work hard and study but he is fair and extremely helpful! I really learned alot and would definitely recommend him for any class he's teaching!I took him twice (for two different classes). One of my favorites!
He is an amazing teacher!! I took him for A&P I and II! But in this class you will need to study your butt off! I would take him all over again! Best, cool teacher I ever had! :D
He is an awesome teacher. You will learn alot from his class. To earn an A you will have to study, but it is worth it! Take him if you are ready to learn some A&P!
Professor Gonzalez is a very enthusiastic man, and he knows what he's talking about. He's got a great attitude every day he steps foot into class, and he speaks very clearly. He offers his time for tutoring or anytime you need help. Tough class, just don't let yourself fall behind.
He is extremely hard, almost too hard. I'm considering changing my major because I might get a C. Preparing for an exam he said to us "I expect the majority of you to score in the high 70's." [Thats a reflection of his teaching.] He is extremely smart and lectures well, but the test don't match his lectures. Avoid him if you care a bout your GPA
The Best
I had Dr. G for the summer and I got an A but not without long, hard hours of studying. You will def get out what u put in. He's great, teaches very well and helps his students to comprehend to the fullest. Take him!!
He is an excellent professor. He is extremely knowledgeable(almost scares me). Very helpful and very fair. "He is the MAN!" The course work is very difficult.I took Dr.G. in the summer and I did receive an "A".I studied my behind off.Study hard and sleep little. He taught me so much. He has a winning attitude & very excited about teaching.
Took him for A&P 1&2 and he's a very good professor. Very difficult course. got an A in both so it's def possible. Nursing majors must take this guy, it'll pay off in the future. don't really need the book, tests over powerpoints. do need the lab manual for homework assign. attendance is a must or you'll be lost. always available to help if needed.
Rule #1 Print out the powerpoint before the class it makes taking notes and following along WAY better!!!! Make sure you go everyday, you can't just read over the notes and be good. Regularly review the powerpoints and notes. Dr. G is funny, easy going and knows his stuff. His class is more challenging than others but you'll be better for it!
Dr G is AWESOME!! Do NOT expect to fly through this course. It is very demanding. Go to class every day, take notes and ASK QUESTIONS! While it is difficult, an A is possible and you'll feel good about it, because it will definetly be earned. Good Luck.
Highly recommend! He was really good with his analogies and trying to relate things so we can better understand. A lot of the work/exam questions come from the power points provided but you will need to study the text and Connect to get the full understanding.
Awesome fun professor. You will have to work hard and study even harder to get a good grade but when you do, it's a wonderful feeling to know you accomplished something. The info you learn will stick with you for years to come. Challenge yourself and take him. Plus, he's handsome!
Mr. Gonzalez is an excellent instructor. The way that he explain concepts in his lectures makes it quite easy to grasp. His test on the other hand are killers, they require a lot more than knowledge of A/P, you must demonstrate critical thinking during his exams if you want to pass them.
Great teacher, Taken in this summer for 5 weeks (a suicide run, but doable) the class is not to be taken lightly...Tests are over powerpoints and its highly recommended you buy/obtain a recording device or use your smartphone. He drops alot of grades though. one top thing to note is SPELLING COUNTS!
Funny guy. As long as you stay on top of your studying from the beginning then it's a really easy class. He gives you some of the questions and answers that are going to be on the lecture test. And for Lab test questions the images are straight from APR(a learning tool you'll have access to) He really does set you up for success.
Great instructor! Hard work and dedication on your part. If you listen and record lectures, print the outlines...easy!
This professor has a lot to cover in the Anatomy and Physiology. The lectures are of power point but there are notes in class you WILL need. His lectures are boring to say the least and it feels like his class will never end. I suggest taking the learning community that goes along with Medical Terminology. I suggest going with someone else.
This guy is really hard, and not always clear on what will be on tests. You'll have to study really hard, and all of your other classes will take a backseat to his. not helpful when approached, no return emails, and very little extra credit. its AP at community college dude, not Yale medical school...find another professor for this course!
Mr Gonzales is an excellent INST & explains the ch clearly. You will NEED to record and print out ALL lectures & take notes if you expect to pass exams. Tests are mult ch w/ critical thinking questions. If you're looking at a career in nursing, this is the teacher to take. He doesn't baby you and expects you to do assignments on time. No late work!
boring lecture, you will sleep..I do not recommend this guy for any students. Do not have an out of the box thinking ability. Not helpful...
this class is tough! you will have to study study study! attend all lectures, record lectures , pay attention and ask questions. this class requires you to understand and comprehend the material! *gasps! * a class where you'll actually learn something! at the end of the semester it was very rewarding to receive my very hard earned B.
No review for test he's a nice guy but just because he's nice that dose not make him a good teacher ....
This is definitely one of the more difficult classes I've taken but I feel as though I learned a lot from his class to prepare me for nursing. Tests are not easy and he doesn't give you a study guide so if you don't go to class and listen to his lectures you will not pass. Good professor and is willing to help if you ask.
DO NOT take this professor. There are quizzes after each chapter, the tests are at least 90 PROBLEMS which include about 20 short answers and the rest multiple choice. Short answers have a million steps and he stops grading on the step you get wrong. He grades as if you are a BIO MAJOR, DON'T DO IT!!
Mr. Gonzales was an awesome Anatomy teacher! He explained everything really well, and helps out if you don't understand. Try not to skip class. Tests can be pretty difficult but that is because he is preparing you for your major most likely. By the end of the semester you will know so much about the human body. I would definitely take him again!
Best bio teacher I've had at vista. He isn't as hard as some say, just study as you go and you'll be fine. You must study-I did very well on exams but blew off one of the exams and all Lab quizzes and ended up with a C in the class when I couldve easily got an A. Take him if you're planning on going into the medical field!
I thought Dr. Gonzales was fair and consistent. He set the expectation and stuck to it. There were no surprises and no punches pulled. All of the test information was presented in class during the lectures, however you MUST take notes in order to catch it all. Lots of critical thinking! Tough and fair; I would definitely take him again.
Not sure why mr. gonzales had bad reviews. I was a little skeptical on taking him because of the reviews, but took him anyway. Mr gonzales is an awesome teacher. He is tough but he gives you more than enough material to study with and lets you know most of what is for sure on the test. Study the study guide he provides and you will pass!
Great professor however he does grade really hard and there is a lot of studying. In all honestly if your going to take this course and not study you will fail. Professor was really good at the lectures and getting you to understand how certain things worked and there are quizzes after each chapter but they are not hard.
He explains very well through his lectures and labs. He gives all the information that is required for the exam, however his exams are very hard. If you miss class, you will miss about 20-25 worth of points and half the exam is short answers and multiple choice. He grades very tough as well and it is a lot of study but he does offer tutoring.
Dr. Gonzales was a great teacher. He covers everything you need for the test in his lectures and slides. The lectures are really informative and he is pretty funny as well. You need to study for the tests, but if you pay attention in class he gives away most of what he is going to put on the test. I would definitely take his class again!
Dr. Gonzales is THE teacher to take if you are a nursing major, but here is a word of caution: he is TOUGH! If you are have other classes, your other classes will at some point take a backseat to his class. Record lectures, print and study power points and use quizlet! This class nearly killed me and I made it out with a VERY hard earned B!
Mr. Gonzales does a great job of explaining things very clearly the first time. Print out lecture slides before hand and make notes on what he actually says during lecture (what he SAYS in lecture will be on the test, the slide are background). Take advantage of his office hrs, he is very helpful and understanding. He also gives extra credit, DO IT
Tough but Fair instructor. Best Bio teacher at the school, but you have to be willing to put in some hard work. His class is a must for future Nursing students.
Definitely is a must to print out power points before class to be able to go through them and highlight while he lectures the only way to have a chance to pass a test is to know what he says that will be on the test if he repeats it highlight it or put a star. record his lectures to be able to review and thoroughly answer questions on study guide!
I learned more in Dr. Gonzales' 5 wk summer A&P course than I did my entire spring semester for A&P 1. Unlike most proffs, he doesn't get caught up with teaching all the minuscule details of anatomy and makes sure the students gain a full understanding of the big picture. Very knowledgeable about anatomy, and always happy to answer questions!
Great teacher. The subject matter is hard and there is no way around that, but he teaches in a way that breaks the material down making it very understandable. I took this class during a 5 week summer quarter and it was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken, however, I learned more than I probably ever have in any class I have taken.
You don't come across many professors who are so passionate about the subject they teach, but with this guy you do. The class is hard and you have to work but I this was my most favorite class. I got a C bc it was a 5 wk summer course so I am retaking him again to better my grade. I learned so many cool things that I still use to this day. 10/10.
If you want to learn, take his class. Dr. Gonzales is extremely helpful, caring and wants you to learn. He provides with the information needed to pass, as well as a solid foundation to go off of for nursing school. Is the class hard? Yes, but that is A&P II for you! It is a hard class, but, he explains everything in a really informative way!
Dr. Gonzales was wonderful! A&P II is not for the weak ESPECIALLY if you're in his class! He is so knowledgeable and passionate and always willing to help! Make sure you print the powerpoints before class and don't skip! His tests are major and grades tough! If you're looking to gain knowledge and for a challenge he's definitely your go to!
I took this teacher for the spring semester of 2017 for A&P II and this class was one of the hardest classes I've taken. He is very lecture heavy and most of the test answers comes from what HE says, so forget studying with the textbook. Also, the final was the most absurd I've seen with the test score class average of a 39. DO NOT TAKE!
I am currently in nursing school right now, and I can confidently say Gonzales prepares you for nursing classes, especially pathophysiology. Nursing school is not easy, nor is A&PII, but, he formulates the material and tests to help you succeed later on down the road. From a nursing student to you, study hard and ask questions!
I'm currently taking his class. I can honestly say that YOUR study habits dictate how well you do in the class. He prepares you for med school. If you want to learn about the body, he will definitely help you learn. Prepare for each class as he gives verbal mini pop quizzes. He is tough, but you will benefit from his teaching style.
He is a tough ass. He counts off a lot of points for misspelling on test. His test are very long (100 questions per test) & have more then one chapter in them. His lecture are fast so it's good to record them; He answers all our questions during classes, gives out homework, some group projects. He did NOT offer any extra credit.
Currently taking Mr. Gonzales for A&P1 and he is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Although the class itself can be difficult, its not impossible to get an A. He ties his lectures in with a lot of real life scenarios and it makes class fun. Be ready to study for your exams (which are between 50-80 questions) and the reviews help ALOT.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! WORST CLASS EVER. HE TEACHES WAY TO FAST AND DOESNT HELP YOU AT ALL. RUDE AND MEAN. HE LITERALLY TOLD ME NOT TO COME BACK TO VISTA AND RETAKE THIS COURSE THAT I NEEDED TO LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Very tough class but totally worth it!! Dr. Gonzales pushes you to learn and retain information you didn't know you could. I really worked hard for my B and think this class will help tremendously in applying to The Health Science Center. Overall excellent semester and instructor.
Dont take this class if your not willing to put in the work ! Class started w 24 students and ended w 9 ! It is tough but he prepares you for 2402 as well. He gave lots of reviews and his lectures offered a lot of help w tests. Recording his lectures w help you and his exams really come from the lecture !
Good teacher and very knowledgeable, but it's a very hard class. Lectures are intensive and a lot of home work. Tests are a mix of short answer and multiple choice and contain questions from previous chapters and exams, so you cant forget anything. Studying just the lecture slides is not enough to pass his class. Offers no extra credit.
If you're the type of person that really depends on the slides and review to help you on the test, then don't take him. It's all about applying the stuff for the exams, even if you study the review for days, it won't look like the test at all (most will be reworded differently). The only helpful thing he does is saying "this will be on the exam".
Honestly, he PREPARES you if you're a nurse. Seems like his teachings are revolving around on what you will see as a nurse in upcoming classes, so he makes it difficult to prepare you. Exam reviews don't help, and you have to have his kind of mindset to really get the material. Doesn't really understand that some people aren't here for nursing only
I just want to say... literally EVERYTHING you read about this class is true. Both the bad and good reviews!
Amazing professor, he prepares you pretty good. If you are not willing to put any effort, dont take him. More than memorizing is understanding the concepts, and lab test are cumulative so you better remember everything at the end of the semester. Not even an easy C
Exams are majority free response and are worth 6-8pt vs multiple choice 1pt. He is very helpful when not understanding topic and is willing to explain it after class. If you have bad study habits and procrastinate you will fail. Reviews are similar to exam but make sure you can explain why and not just memorize. GREAT professor! RECOMMEND.
Please take the bad reviews on here seriously because they are true. He has to be the worst professor that I have ever had. This is not the professor that I picked when signing up for this class, he was assigned to us a day before the class started. Web cams are mandatory and he is dull and very creepy as well. He also doesn't record the lectures.
He does prepare you IF you're going to be a nurse BUT don't think he takes into consideration that most students in class are not going to be nurses and don't have the knowledge of a nursing student. Final exam is 18 pages of diagrams. Exams include text box items. If a question is worth 7 points and you misspell a word, you're getting 1pt. Absurd.
Use the exam reviews&jot down his the exam questions he says during lecture. I used OneNote to take my notes. You must dedicate yourself! Do every assignment, every point counts to your final grade. Hes very straight up & helpful. Hes amazing!! I started off bad put more effort to get that B! 4th time retaking, previous grades were D,D,W elsewhere.
If you wanna lower your GPA or take a withdrawal this is the class for you. It's not even 5 weeks in and 3/4 of the class has dropped it. He shows he understands it but doesn't do a good job of actually teaching. went to tutoring multiple times at NVC even the tutors didn't understand what he is asking for. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Don't let the other reviews fool you. I imagine this class might be useful to nursing majors, but of you are not a nursing major this class will overwhelm you. Also if you're struggling don't bother going to tutoring because even the tutors don't understand some of his specific off topic material. You have been warned.
The curriculum and exam quality are appalling,I believe they should just declare it a flexible class because it seems like a flex even if the semester is on a normal schedule. Actually, he doesn't teach the class. Most of the time, he assumes you already know it, and if you don't display your camera, he assumes you're not paying attention.
There is no grading curve, so failing an exam means failing the class, and none of the assignments pick up or boost your mark in any way. We started with 23 students, then reduced to 12 in 2-3 weeks, and finally to 5 in the last two weeks of class.
Roberto was terrible. Not enough time for exams. He never drops a grade. If you fail one exam you won't pass. He is hard to contact. I had to drop his class and the only people left in the class was only one student. He didn't pass and failed. Do yourself a favor and don't take him.
Very great professor. This class is very difficult so many people tend to drop out but a good chunk of people stuck around by the end. Lectures are his best thing. If you want to pass this class then you have to listen to lectures intently. It helps because he'll often point out what will be on the exam and such.
Be ready to learn and he tries his best to teach. Awesome professor but you need to study to keep up with him.
He has great ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understanding manner.
A&P is not for the weak but he managed it to make it fun with his humor. He truly cares about his students and will meet up with you if you have any questions. At first his class did seem stressful but I stuck around to see where I would end up and did better than expected. What helped the most was recording his lectures and DOING THE STUDY GUIDE!!
Prepare to put in the work for this class - it's challenging, but the professor is helpful if you engage with the material. I found using unstuck study and taking detailed notes in OneNote really useful for study prep.
Doesn't give back feedback
I would not recommend this class for anyone who does not have time to study ALOT. Most of his % goes towards lecture exams.doesnt extra credit if you fail 1/2 exams you're failing the class. marks off a lot of points for grammar. he does have tutoring hours no feedback on exams DONT miss his class/be late. if you miss a lab/quiz you cant retake it
He cares about how well you do! His lectures are super engaging, and he does his best to keep the material easy to comprehend. To succeed, go to class every day. period. I recorded his lectures, which helped at times, and please take advantage of his study guides. They were very close to his exams. Study and attend class, and you will do just fine!
I found this professor to be unsupportive. He would call on me even when I was nervous or didn't know the answer, which made me feel embarrassed. He is a strict grader, and spelling is very important to him.
This class quite literally was one of the most challenging classes I've EVER taken. He teaches super fast so if science isn't your strong suit, be prepared to study DAYS before any quizzes and exams. Also gives A LOT of McGraw hill assignments which is super stressful since he crams a lot in before exams…
I've taken this professor twice, and HE'S AMAZING! Lecture exams are 60% of your grade but his tests aren't that bad. I personally would recommend recording during his lectures and studying at least a week before an exam to get a good grade. Very caring professor and easy to work with, just pay attention!!!
