Great, funny, and outgoing instructor. Her lectures are very clear and simple, that's if you read the "REQUIRED" text readings beforehand. So come to class PREPARED. This is college people, so stop your whining.

She started out being strict but really loosened up and joked with the class. She was always telling little stories that made the info more interesting. This class was hard and you need to study and do the homework to keep up. Her quizes/tests were tricky, open note- but she wants you to understand the material in depth and use it. Fun teacher.

Her class was very easy. She allows us to make cheat sheets (about a page per chapter) before taking major exams, though I dont really need most of them. She thought im a "god" because im supersmart.. We had dominated her class... Far many A's than B's, and few failing marks and C's of course...

Ms. DeRoo is cool if you are actually willing to put forth effort and show her that you are really trying to get what she's teaching you! She was very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. She's quirky and amazing and I'm glad I had her. Be prepared, she does not excuse lazyness.

Had her for both 111a & 111b. She was really mean & strict at 1st, but then she was really fun and relaxed after a couple weeks had passed. She always stays after to help and gives you very organized notes. Make sure that you take your time and read her questions carefully on the exam, though. Also make sure that you have enough for hw & labs.

Take this teacher! She wants you to succeed. There's a quiz every week, and of course there are tests. Her lecture often covered half of the material, the rest in book. You could use a cheat sheet for all exams and most quizzes. The class is cumulative. You can turn in late hw at reduced points. Labs were decent, we didn't do any titration.

She types out the lecture notes so you can spend your time listening instead of writing. She allows 'cheat sheets' and is a fair grader. The best chem teacher Cypress has.

I had her for three straight semesters from chem 107 to 111b. Lectures are easy to understand, quiz and tests are from the lectures and homeworks. You will earn A if you do the work she asks! I would definitely recommend her.

She is a great professor. Hilarious! she does have her favorites. Lectures are easy to understand. Quiz are essentially easy. Sometimes we would have group quiz! Exams are a bit tricky. To pass exams must practice practice practice. I would recommend her.

Her lecture notes are very clear. For most of the quizzes we got to work in GROUPS! She is very chill, I'd say I was pretty lucky to have her as a chem teacher! Tests are straightforward, she won't test you on anything she didn't teach you! That's for sure. She'll prepare you for 111a!

Took her for Chem 111B during the summer, and this class was fast paced! A lot of material to chug down, however professor de roo made lecture fun and entertaining while providing a clear foundation. Be prepared to study, as this class in general is not the easiest. Very respectable grader and she is always willing to help.

I would GLADLY take her for any chemistry course because she will go the extra mile to help you and she's really funny. She's also a great person who you can talk to about anything. Really positive, yet realistic about her expectations. Plus, she wears funny chemistry shirts and she can also be persuaded (by the class) to turn labs in late. ;-) A+!

At first, she's extremely different than any professor you've probably had. But she is such a wonderful person once you get to know her better. She really helps you get it. If you don't, keep telling her, she will explain it in different ways. Grades very well, gives credit for trying. 8 1/2 by 11 cheat sheets for all exams! You HAVE to read book!!

She really awesome and all she will help you out but one thing I didn't like about her was she will make sure to find mistakes in your lab. She will circle any that's wrong. Also if you don't put your name on the pages then she take off points too! If I had to recommend I say yes but it won't be an easy class!

In her class, she calls each student to do problem, so go to class and work hard. Also, you've got to read the textbook and do the homework. She will train you to have a reading habit. She often brings cookies for you after each exam. She cares about you, motivate and want you to be active in learning. She is my favorite professor in Cypress.

Lecture notes simplify n summarize textbook materials, a caring teacher, available for questions, helpful during lab, grade lab report easily, give extra credit. Read lecture notes n book,do homework to A her test. Prepare you for university n grad schools, laziness n expecting teachers to do everything are not existing in high-level school.

OChem is hard b/c the large amount of information means you need to read, do hw, and practice questions every day. Ms. D follows the book & keeps it fairly simple instead of being bogged down in uncommon reactions and multi-step synthesis. It can be much worse! Clear notes helped and succeeded in Biochem and MCAT chemistry thanks to her classes!

Honestly ochem is just hard. But professor De Roo makes it better, like she really structures the class for you to focus on studying and succeeding. The labs are fun but the write up is really easy. You get free hw points basically. So then you just need to study for the tests. She is an alright lecturer I wish the lectures were more interactive.

Though DeRoo is very much available for office hours MAKE SURE TO READ THE BOOK. She may seem a tad intimidating at first but after visiting her office hours, I began to see how much she really cares for her students and how she tries to make sure you succeed in her class. Overall a very genuine, caring professor!

Ochem can definitely be a very tough subject, but DeRoo makes it doable. The class is broken down to the Labs, Homework, Quizzes, and Exams. The Lab section is manageable as long as you follow the outline. Homework is easy point. The quizzes focuses one chapter at a time. Exams is concept heavy so be prepared to read! The mechanisms are basic.

Ochem is a hard class, and DeRoo will not sugar coat the class for you. She may seem intimidating at first, but she will warm up to students who put in the hard work. To get an A, reading the book and the required/optional homework is essential. I can definitely say that I developed better study habits when I took this class with DeRoo

Ochem is a concept-heavy subject prehealth students need to go through so buckle down and read your textbook! Ms. D sticks by the book and was always available (in-person or email) when clarification was needed. There won't be any spoonfeeding, if that's what you're hoping for. All the resources you need to succeed are there. Now put in the work

Professor DeRoo was one of the best professors I've ever taken at Cypress College. She's very straightforward, meaning she will tell you as is which I appreciate. Her lectures are very clear and she will try her best to answer your questions if you go up and ask her. She made chemistry very fun and enjoyable.

Professor De Roo is super helpful and willing to match the level of effort put in by her students. The class isnt the easiest but she will be available to help you if you reach out and put the effort in to get help. I believe she is aware that some students learn differently than others and she will adapt based on your needs if you put the time in

I appreciate her caring and accessibility outside class more than teaching style. Style compatibility's vary, but know for sure she always goes beyond, makes time to help her students. CHEM is hard and abstract, put your effort in. I love her, had good time w office hours. She cares and understanding, but how much are we to her during Covid time?

She is always available for you guys to ask and answer about lab, homework, or everything which you guys are concerned about. I still remember the first time when I missed the lab lecture and I have no idea about what to do. I let her know and she explains to me everything steps by step ( on zoom) and she helps me finish my lab experiment.

If you are planning to pursue higher education in chemistry/biochemistry/biology please do not take chemistry classes for easy A's because when you transfer to UC schools you will struggle a lot. With De Roo, you will actually learn because she really cares and is always available.

Professor DeRoo is such an amazing professor. She honestly cares about her students. She responds to her emails right away and offers zoom office hours. Professor De Roo is one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking a course with. The class is very lecture-heavy, so be sure to be on top of your notes and ask questions if you are confused on the calculations. Labs are quite straightforward, as you are basically following a manual. Expect one extra credit assignment.

Professor De Roo is a great teacher. Her class is straight forward; Her quizzes and exams are based off of her PowerPoints which she uses for her lectures. She stays on topic and is always happy to answer questions. Her homework is from the book but she mostly assigns the questions with the answers, so make sure to do the HW for easy points.

If you want to get a good grade you will have to put some effort into studying and practicing and practicing. Make sure you do all the required homework and do even more to get your concepts, because it builds up. Do all the side questions in the textbook and end of chapter, they help a lot! Ask questions!!!!
