she is a fun teacher that got off the topic a lot. however she is a fair grader and she helps you out when you have specific questions about either a report or a question. she is a very fun professor that can talk about outside events.

She makes the class interesting BUT if you are not a English major DO NOT TAKE HER! She favors English majors! So if your english major take her.

I took her for 251 and intro to shakespeare. Don't listen to that english major garbage the last person wrote. If you do the reading and go to class there is no excuse not to get at least a B+. I'm not an english major and had no problem at all.

She's a wonderful teacher! She explains everything very clearly and she's so great to talk to. She knows her stuff. Awesome, a definite must take.

Awsome teacher. Really helps you out and teaches you to write. Come to class, participate and do the inclass writtings and you will do well. Does give papers but is a fair grader and allows you to rewrite them for better grades.

I think that Hizme is very enthusiastic and definitly loves what she teaches, however, she is very unclear on how she wants her papers done and at times, the class can be tedious!

AMAZING!!! Professor Hizme is very helpful, witty, knowledgable and enthusiastic about the material she teaches. The class is a chronological survey of interesting British literary works. Her examinations are totally fair. My favorite English professor in Queens College! Highly recommended.

Hizme is an amazing professor. The books are carefully selected by her and are all related to eachother. Read the sparknotes for the books, take good notes and you'll be set. Midterm and Final, 7-8 books. Remember to participate. She's also beautiful.

Professor Hizme is truly a great professor. She's funny, sweet and makes the class enjoyable. As far as most writing intensive classes go, she's pretty fair on the amount of course work. If you get a chance to take her, do it! And she does not favor english majors, trust me.

I never missed any of her classes b/c she is so vibrant, funny, enthusiastic and fun. She is not easy but very fair,u must show up to get a good grade. extremely helpful. Wish I could take her for other classes. CUNY should TRIPLE her salary! AN ALL STAR TEACHER!

This is a prof. who will not tolerate failure therefore will go out of her way to make sure all her students succeed! Please take her cause you will learn a great deal and you will definitely leave her class with a new found knowledge! She is so caring and great in everyway possible.

One of the best English Professors in Queens. She is very passionate about her job and loves teaching this subject. I learned so much in 3 1/2 weeks. Highly Reccomended!

She is energetic, cute and dynamic. Even if you are not interested, she will be fun. Knows her stuff and makes it easy to understand. Tough tests, but very little writing. Enjoyed her class tremendously. Would take her again in a heartbeat.

Professor Hizme is the best! She makes everything understandable and fun to learn =) I would take her again... only if she were teaching higher level courses. She's great and highly recommended as a professor. She's on her way to a PhD...Good Luck to her! =)

She taught the two main books (merchant of venice and human stain) very well but as soon as she started discussig that "text book" which is a 300 page essay on theory, the class turned to complete BS and she was in way over her head. She's also WAY too perky for 8 am!

She's Extremely well educated. 2books and 4essays. Essay explanations are really vague, so you'll get a headache thinking of wat to write (students agree). Easy on the eyes w/ a great personality: that motivated me to show up.

She is not an "easy-dumb" professor that some ratings make you believe; she is smart, sophisticated, humorous and helpful person who is always enthusiastic in class and when it comes to making up midterms. Also note: in her class, midterm/final grades are more imporatnt than paper grades, so come to exams prepared and you will have an "A".

Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic professor..Midterm, final and one 10 pg paper, hard grader but overall good class.

When you take this class everything is presented to you exactly how you need to learn it. The material is a little on the boring side, so it's not easy to remember: but Hizme makes it easy to remember if you come to class every day and take notes/pay attention. You will do great in her class if you put the effort into it.

Really nice and interesting. Straightforward about what she wants. 10 page paper, midterm and final. Just memorize the facts for everything you read and you'll do fine. She's really ncie and helpful. Seems like a lot of work but it's managable.

Knowledgeable, interesting and fair. I didn't buy into many of the theory ideas or essays, but play/poems/novel were interesting and well taught. Grading is extremely fair but don't expect to not show up or show up w/out having read or you'll do poorly (started giving quizzes when it became clear few were reading). Worth taking--you'll learn. :)

She's very fair in all aspects. I didn't care for the Blackboard 3 comment requirement but the material is interesting. She definitely knows what she's talking about. Keep up with the reading, highlight passages she goes over in class (there on the test/quizzes) and participate. You'll do fine.

I loved Professor Hizme, she was extremely helpful & kept the class entertaining. Her quizzes are difficult, so you must do the reading! But all in all she's fair, and reviews for the midterm and final.

Amazing professor. Very down to earth, funny, & understanding. Took her for summer class S1- had to do 2 blackboard posts, 1 final paper (about 7pgs),3 tests, &nightly reading assignments. Fair, easy grader. Likes participation & wants her students to do well. One of the nicest professors I've ever come across in my life. Definitely take her.

She gives 3 papers and one essay in class as a test. In the beginning the readings she give are very boring and hard and mind juggling. However, the readings toward the end are much more interesting. She does some in class writings but not too hard and they really dont count as a grade just do them even if you have to bs them.

Do NOT take her class if you are not an English major, willing to deal with a biased professor or require an intro class that is taught like an intro class.

A bubbly professor. The classwork is tough, but it IS a W-class, so it's to be expected. She's passionate about the subject she teaches; she puts her own effort into the class.

Hizme is hilarious! I don't know what the hell the other students are talking about but she is a very easy grader. I don't think she plays favorites, however, students tend to retake her class and she'll remember your name or ask about something that you covered in the previous class. Other than that I don't see any special treatments. Take her!

I took her class many semester ago. I am an english major and she is one of the very best teachers in the department! She is bubbly, but not inappropriate or abnoxious and it does not get in the way of her teaching. I am really surprised by others' comments on here, but she was always fair and kind to EVERYONE in my class, no favorites.

We had 2 essays, a midterm, and a final. She gives you a chance to rewrite the essays. She is very helpful and has an OVERLY bubbly personality but she knows her stuff. The class was not difficult at all. She even gives you a templ. of what the tests are like. Overall she is a good teacher. Not very exciting but what class is... ha ha

She is such a sweet lady. This is a Shakespeare class and I honestly took it because it was the only class that fit in my schedule, BUT after her class I truly enjoy Shakespeare. She is very dedicated and makes it so enjoyable. All you really have to do is come to class! She is great.

She's a sweet bubbly person who makes definitive critiques on your writing. You will learn how to improve your writing with her. Super-flexible on due dates and lenient. Likes to incorporate technology into her class, but don't worry if you don't want to bring a laptop to class. Definitely a good teacher.

Prof Hizme is awesome!! Keep up with the readings because of the pop quizzes, review with her your essays and she is soooo helpful. She sat with me and helped me find sources for my annotated bib. Very caring and encourages class participation, by the end of semester everyone will know each other and feel comfortable with one another!

I took Professor Hizme during the summer. It was a lot of work but what do you expect when 4 months of work is packed into 3 weeks? no tests, just a midterm paper and a final paper and she lets us bring in a draft where she gives us great notes on where to improve and then lets us revise the final midterm. Super nice, but gets off track sometimes.

I was anxious about choosing her because of the bad ratings, but overall she is very kind and will help you when you are having difficulty with readings and assignments. Because of COVID, we need to do ALL of our stuff online, but she has been easy to reach out to whenever I need help. Few readings were hard, but I would definitely take her again.

She cares about each student and wants everyone to succeed. If you demonstrate effort, she will work with you to give you the best possible grade. She assigns homework most classes, so you do have to be on top of your work. She can sometimes be pretty disorganized, but overall she was fantastic during the COVID19 semester disruption.

Professor Hizme is a great professor we have 3 big assignment which is not hard at all. We have a good amount of classwork and asynchronous work which kept us up to date for the assignments in the future.

She's really not that bad. She's nice and welcoming she can get a bit disorganized but she rolls with it. 3 essays, course reflection, and some in class stuff. English is time consuming so expect spending a decent time writing and reading. Participation counts but she's not like stingy with it, but do try using chat or audio. Take her she's not bad

She is very nice and caring and i do see alot of people saying that she assigns alot of homework. however ive been in her class since august and anytime we didnt finish reading or certain students, she always ends up extending the time a bit. Also her test are very straightforward and easy as long as u read the readings.

I would recommend this instructor to others because she is a fun person, and tries to put herself in front of the students. Doesn't give out essays (only one mini essay) instead she gives out quiz's that are fun and creative.

I really liked taking Professor Hizme because she really tried to make the class enjoyable. Reading is not as heavy if you manage your time. She really tries to work with students. I definitely recommend her 100%

I recently took professor hizme for an online winter course. The course is only a few weeks and there were a lot of assignments, however she was a very caring and easy-going professor. The work in class was very easy, as long as you read and participate you will have no problem passing this class.

Very easy-going teacher who likes to have fun and see her students enjoy the material. She often asks for student feedback on the material and adjusts the class to that. There are 3 required essays and some reading but its an English class and I believe it could be worse. Overall, she is a awesome teacher to have

Honestly, I barely showed up to class and still got a good grade. Just participate more than most and be engaged. There's no HW for this course, and the quizzes are open notes.
