Dr. Joynes is so nice and very entertaining. This stuff can be kind of boring, but she will keep your attention. Go to her office hours and you will find she is the sweetest, most helpful person. The tests aren't that bad--you don't really have to read the book, but you must study the notes well and learn diagrams. The exams are straightforward

Good class, shes a very interesting lady. Tests are mildly difficult only because she asks the most random things. I rarely looked in the book, notes are the way to go.

She's definitley not the average professor. She's really funny and she likes to act things out. The class was fairly easy once you get the hang of her exams. She uses matching so when you take the exam, the best way to do it is write the answer next to question so you don't get confused and then look for the answer below. Very interesting class.

Excellent professor :) You can tell she's passionate about her field, and she makes lecture interesting and easy to listen to. For exams, make sure you have all the notes, and then memorize them. If you do that, you will have 100%+. Money-saving tip: don't bother buying the textbook :)

I had this Professor for Biopsychology. She was very helpful, receptive to students, and really was an excellent professor. She really new the material well. I wish she could have been my teacher for all my undergraduate classes.

She's a great teacher. It's a huge class with a lot of information to get across but she does a terrific job with plenty of memorable examples and the energy needed to keep it interesting. Barely used the textbook at all though. Her powerpoint slides and study guides are invaluable and you could probably get through on these alone. Hot too!

I LOVED Professor Joynes! I hated Psychology in Highschool and ended up loving it in college because of Joynes. She made things really easy to Understand and it was hilarious to watch her imitate and act out things in the middle of class. She sounds like Dory from Finding Nemo! She's just amazing! Take her!

General Psychology: Definitely take her. I didn't buy the book and still ended up with an A. Do the extra credit, it will help you out in the long run. The tests are very easy, half of the questions come from the practice test.

Dr. Joynes is by far the best professor I've ever had. She wants you to do well. Class attendance isn't mandatory but recommended since she shows movies and covers stuff that is not on the slides. Professor Joynes is one of the best out there! Her class is both interesting and entertaining, and she wants her students to learn and succeed. Even if you have no interest in this subject, you will have learned something of interest when you leave this course. Highly recommended!! An easy A if you put forth the work.

Even though I'm not a psych major, her class was REALLY fun! I was dreading it before coming to Kent because it was a night class, but it turned out to be one of my favorite courses this past semester. She really knows psychology and gives you tons of examples. Take her class, if you can.

I paid attention to everything she said because she made everything interesting. When later I took the GRE subject test in psychology, I aced it because so much of the content is general psych stuff. It?s hard to forget material that?s been taught to you by a really great teacher. If I get into grad school it will be in part thanks to Dr. Joynes.

Joynes is AMAZING! All of her notes are online & she does stuff from the book, so if you miss a day of class it's not a big deal. Go to class, she always has funny stories & shes fun! The class has simple 10 point quizzes, & you can take them up to 3 times, easy class so fun & you need to take GenPsych to take any others. Her drug class rocks too!!

General Pysch was an easy class. I never missed a class but I would rarely pay attention (300+ kids made it hard to want to) I would study the practice and online quizes and her slide shows and did some extra research studies and ended up with an A+ she was a fun, great professor, definitely made the class even more interesting. Highly Recommend

Didn't get through all the material and sometimes there would be material that we didn't go over that was on the exams. Super funny, and made psych interesting. Didn't really need the textbook. She goes over everything in class and puts the slides online, print them off and use them then you won't have to take notes.

Took her for General Psychology. Great teacher ad very funny. attended most classes because she made the material very clear. Uses powerpoints whch she gives you online. I only used the book for the online quizes. pretty muchtdied the powerponts a little and got As on the tests. Definately recommend her!

Dr. Joynes was amazing. I had her for honors general psych, so my class had about 20 students and we got more one-on-one time with her. Her lectures are never boring and she is relatable and fun. Robin is a very unique individual. I was in the honors section of her course, and it was always very interesting! She used a lot of real life examples to make the material relatable. The exams are not tricky. Take the time to do the study guides and DO EXTRA STUDIES!! Also, do not waste money on the textbook for the honors course, at least. 10/10!

I wish psych was my major so I could take more classes with her. She just won an outstanding teacher award which doesn't surprise me in the least. The first test was straightforward and based on slides she posts. Nothing from the book is on the test that isn't in the lecture, it might not be worth it to buy it, but good for clarification.

Lectures were entertaining and informative but mostly she just read off of the slides so you can get by with skipping a few classes. 4 exams and 8 mini tests (total all semester) due before the exams.

She's super nice and has interesting lectures. Quizzes are easy since they're online and you can use your book. She offers a lot of extra credit so take it. Four tests, 50 questions, all multiple choice. I got pretty low grades on those but my quizzes, research participation, and extra credit saved me. Pretty simple class.

Dr. Joynes was a very good professor to have for Gen. Psych. She posts the notes online but printing them is not necessary for note-taking. At times, I thought that she gave too many examples for different topics. Online quizzes can be taken 3 times with the best score kept. Do not buy the text book! Only thing I used it for was the quizzes.

After taking Quant, this class is simple and Joynes makes it that much better. Don't get me wrong, you will have to study for this class. However, if you put in the work you should do just fine. Lectures are always fun to go to. Tests are straightforward. Group work and research credits needed. Just make sure you go to class, slides aren't enough.

I took her for Gen Psych and Research Methods. She is so great. One of the best professors Kent State has to offer. Research Methods was a little bit harder than Gen Psych, but she makes it interesting. Attendance is expected and there is a little bit of group work.

Joynes is a great prof! Gen Psych can easily be boring & just memorizing facts, but she tries to make you interested in everything all semester long. Awesome professor, really does a great job at connecting outside world to topics in class. The quizzes are easy, all the answers are in the book or on quizlet. SI was extremely helpful so utilize it. Her powerpoints are simple and straight forward, make sure you go over her study guide because those questions are on the test.

Dr Joynes is a great professor! I really recommend her for gen psych. Most of her class is based on lectures and some information that is on her exams are not explained in detail on the powerpoint. If you go to class, you will get all of the information you need for the exam but attendance is not mandatory. Easy class to fulfill a Kent Core.

I would recommend going to class, she gives really good lectures, but attendance isn't monitored or 100% necessary. The book is used, but only for quizzes that are done on your own time, I would recommend not buying the book and just taking the quiz in the library and using the library's copy.

Joynes makes every lecture interesting and engaging. Though I'm not a psych major, I enjoyed her lectures and looked forward to going. The exams are pretty easy if you study your notes and you learn a lot, but the material itself is not hard to memorize. Great professor!

I only struggled in this class due to having no medical interest and it is more difficult for me to learn, but what is taught is cool! Lots of information to learn in a year, but she is a fun, good professor. Attendance is not taken and she puts lectures online. I did still go to class though because it was easier for me to be taught it in person!

I have had Dr. Joynes for Drugs and Behavior and Research Methods. I really enjoy her classes. Drugs was a great class and Research Methods was pretty dry but she makes it as fun as she can. She's a clear and engaging professor and I take her at any opportunity!

Joynes is the best! Honestly, don't listen to people who gave her less than a 4. Her lectures are very interesting and she is very good at simplifying the material . She gives study guides before the tests which help a TON! Obviously you'll have to put some effort in on your part, but you will not regret taking her PSY 101 class!

Very easy class, drops lowest exam and lowest 3 quiz grades. Easy material and reads directly from powerpoint (posted online). Great person but tends to go off topic during lectures. Gives 20 extra credit points (class is 480 total) if you do practice questions on LaunchPad. Used textbook for online quizzes.

Exams are semi-difficult but she is a great professor. She gives many examples and she was an energenic spunky professor. Class was enjoyable and she is a great professor. Bonus points are offered too!

I really enjoyed class with Joynes. She always did her best to make the lectures interesting and seemed to actually care and have a passion for what she talks about. As long as you study you'll do good on the exams. She provides you with more than enough study materials and also drops your lowest exam (not counting the final) at the end of the term

lectures every day. class is optional. all the notes that she goes over in class are posted on blackboard. she posts review sheets and study guides nearing a test. exams are multiple choice. quizzes are online and can be taken an unlimited amount of times. the class is super easy if you show up and study for the exams.

Dr. Joynes is easily one of the best professors so far in my 3 years of college. Though sometimes she can get stuck on a slide for a while, its clear that she is teaching to the whole class, and loves to inject fun personal stories. She's passionate, caring, and knows how to teach the material in a way that is easy to comprehend, and remember.

Dr. Joynes has to be one of my favorite professors. She's down to Earth, funny, and smart. She tells you exactly what you need to know for course content. We even played Kahoot! She curves exams depending on "bad questions" and offers extra credit. You don't have to attend class, but I had fun and cleared up a few confusions, so I recommend going.

I took Psych in high school, so I was already pretty familiar with the material, but I went to class mostly so I knew what we were discussing, but also because it was an enjoyable class. She was very kind and funny.

She is one of the best teachers i have ever had! she teaches in such a fun energetic and captivating way which makes it really easy to learn. She makes "difficult" topics seem really easy. She is funny, engaging, and i would never want to miss a lecture. Her tests are perfectly clear and she gives a quiz that you can take repeatedly due every exam.

I took her class for Gen Psych and it was pretty easy. Make sure to get your research credits done ASAP because then you don't have to worry about it at the end. Her tests are a little difficult at first but after the first one, you will know better what to expect. You don't technically have to attend class, but just do it.

Generally easy class, but you need to read both the book and quizzes to understand. Wording for tests slightly wonky, but reading will make it a bit easier

GREAT professor. She's hilarious, and her lectures were highlights of my semester. The class wasn't hard as long as you do the reading and go to class, but make sure you pay attention especially to terminology because she asks for a lot of it on exams.

I took Research Methods with Dr. Joynes after having her for Gen Psyc. Do NOT buy the textbook. Go to class and take some notes to supplement the powerpoints or else you'll be a little lost on the material. Study the detailed study guide outlines for exams and this class is an easy A. I loved this class and Dr. Joynes so much!!

Joynes is AMAZING! Her lectures are engaging and interesting, plus she offers lots of extra credit. Even though attendance isnt mandatory, GO TO CLASS. There will be topics discussed in her lectures that are not on her powerpoints that you will be tested on! If you go to class, pay attention, and do the work (which isnt a lot) , its an easy A!

This was by far the best teacher I had in my first semester. She was able to communicate her ideas in an easy way. It is all lectures, but they really are helpful.

Attendance isn't mandatory but I found it difficult when I did skip a few times. There's research credits you have to do (did all of mine online throughout the semester- easy). The online homework is due every like 3 weeks and it was easy. The exams are a little difficult (i got all low B's on them) but doing the homework and RC helps ur grade.

Dr. Robin Joynes was one of the best professors I have had since going to Kent State. Her lectures were spot on and organized. As long as you did everything you are supposed to do in class you are golden.

She's such an amazing professor. The class itself isn't always the most interesting but she always makes up for it with her funny and friendly personality. She doesn't assign much work outside of class so make sure you prepare for exams. She lets you earn extra credit by getting SONA credits. I definitely recommend taking one of her classes.

Robin made this COVID semester really easy for me. The class was an easy A, as long as you do the required work. Tests are open note.

She was very clear on what would be on the tests, and her lectures/reading covered the material well. I hate psych, but she actually got me interested in a few of the topics. Lots of reading, which is boring. the lectures were helpful. self check quizzes so you know if you understand something. If I take another psych class I would like to have her

Dr. Joynes is hands down one of the best, if not the best, professor I have ever has the privilege of learning with. As long as you do the assigned homework and try your best you will succeed in her class. She is excellent at communicating with her students and grades very fairly. I feel like I have learned so much in this class and enjoyed it!

Dr. Joynes was my favorite prof this semester. She makes it very clear on what is necessary to get a good grade in her class. This class was asynchronous for me with an exception of synchronous test review, which was very helpful in preparing for the test. I would definitely recommend her if you are taking psychology.

Never met her. Weekly quizzes and fair amount of workload. 5 exams, were fair. Offers 20 extra credit points. Slides give most of answers to quizzes, but some applying material to questions. Overall, she was good.

Very respectful of students. Weekly quizzes and readings but, the quizzes are for participation and the readings aren't too long. The exams are fair with few application questions but they also contain many spelling and grammatical errors. Overall a really good professor who seems like she enjoys teaching!

Loved her for general psych. it was an online class due to covid but she layed the class out perfectly. assigned reading and lecture vids but you dont really have to read if you watch the lectures. gives short/easy quizzes. she also kept the content interesting. you could tell she loves her work. would totally have her as a professor again!

This was my favorite online class I have taken so far. Dr Joynes really has perfected online learning with this class. I took this class in Summer 1 so it was 5 weeks, and the pacing was great. Daily quizzes are able to be redone and the big exams are all easy multiple choice. Lectures are short and to-the-point

This was one of my favorite classes I've taken so far. She makes it so easy to get help if you need it but as long as you pay attention to the lectures you shouldn't. Absolutely love her! She's super sweet and passionate about what she does. She hold lectures in person, live online, AND records them. She gives so much extra credit, easy assignments, and provides different ways to study for exams. I took this class for kent core but would honestly take it again for fun because I love her and it's so interesting!

A literal joy. She was my first introduction to the professors of the psychology department. She knew her material, and would be sure to go in enough detail over topics that could be tricky. Had no issues providing examples or further explaining a topic. Her exams are fine as long as you take notes and pay attention in class.

I had Professor Joynes last semester and she was great. I usually do not like lecture classes, but I genuinely enjoyed going to her class and learning. She gives the option to do it online as well. There is a lot of information to study for the exams, but if you study you should be good and she drops your worst exam grade. Choose Robin!!!!!

Is amazing at what she does. Makes jokes during the lectures, sometimes they hit and give a good chuckle, other times it misses. 4 exams during the entire course and she drops the lowest grade when it comes to a final score, gives extra credit, and does her own kinds of quizzlets for homework

Dr. Joynes is one of the best professors I've had during my time here. Her lectures are entertaining and fun, even when the class really is not. She has a system where you get to gain points back on previous exams on the final, and her worksheets were always great supplements for what we were learning in class. Could not recommend her more!

I thought this class was relatively easy. There is a required textbook, but you don't need it. I felt the tests ranged in difficulty, each one being at a different level. Four tests and some quizzes are all you are graded on. A nice professor can tell she enjoys what she is teaching.

Dr. Joynes is a great professor, she relates the topics to real life making it easier to understand. I will say she can get caried away and we sometimes don't finish slides in class but its alright! She gives lots of opportunities to keep your grade afloat, really no way to fail this class.

Dr. Joynes is great! I had her for Basic Learning Processes and she brought some much needed humor to class every now and then. Her classes has quizzes that you can take as many times as you want for practice so there's no reason you shouldn't get 100% on all of them.

Dr.Joynes is great! (Basic Learning process) I don't recommend getting the textbook, I didn't even look at mine. She has unlimited attempts on the quizzes so you can use them as a study tool. awesome professor! very down to earth and easy to talk to. lectures are passionate and easy to understand. i studied very hard for every test and got above an 80 on each. she lets you look over your past exams at the end of the semester for the cumulative final. a few quizzes and heavy on exams. highly reccommed and taking her next semester!

Very obviously kind and rather funny lady. Her lectures were long and she covers a lot in a short time but its manageable. Not really many grades other than exams, online chapter and syllabus quizzes, and research credits. She's cool.

I enjoyed Robin's class! I took it last summer during Summer 2023 (5 week course). I learned a lot and Robin was very helpful. She was quick to respond to emails! The only thing that I sorta struggled with was the fast-paced nature of it, but that's what you sign up for in the summer since the terms are shorter. Overall, I highly recommend her!

this is my second class with prof joynes. i love her teaching style and she cares about her students a lot. shes super respected among the psychology department. the grade for this class is based off of quizzes and exams, but as long as you study, you will easily get a B or higher.

super easy class literally only had to do the kahoots for the final and I got 100. very nice, just study and do her study guides and kahoots and if u don't get an A that's literally on u. also she drops ur worst quiz and exam grade which is so nice. take her if u have the chance

Dr. Joynes is the best prof I've had at Kent so far. I feel like with most Psychology classes, they're almost all lectures and she actually makes class fun and interesting. She was always reachable. She always told us to stop by her office hours if we needed anything. The quizzes are very helpful for each exam and her exams aren't that difficult.

This professor was my all time favorite iv'e had in Kent. This is my third class with her and if it were up to me I would take every single class with her. I am not a good test taker and I usually don't thrive when classes are mainly exam s but she does such a good job with making her exams just like the slides that I average a 90% on her exams.
