He's better then any other teacher I have taken, and also he's a friend to the faculty kids.
Overall, awesome guy. He's has a smart sense of humor and talks about interesting topics. He has been a great mentor. A guy you can count on for help.

Probability taught by using Vegas games as examples = FUN.
SUPER COOL PROFESSOR!
This guy is the bomb. He kind of looks like an oldster ****. Not an easy course but very interesting. Work hard and you'll get an A. Not too bad on attendance.
Stats is just hard, but he is a great teacher and an awesome guy. If you work hard you will be okay and you will have a worth while time doing it.
Really hard class, but what an awesome teacher to take it with. Perrin is the coolest teacher I've ever had. I wish more teachers could be like him -- a) I learn b) I have fun c) I respect him. Definately worth the ridiculous cost of tuition.
Perrin is such a great teacher. Stats is hard in itself, but he helps so much understand it. If you work hard and keep up you will be fine.
he makes class interesting
Very nice guy, extremely funny. Highly reccommend this to fulfill a GE, especially if you are looking for an easy A and an interesting topic.
Super cool guy, very nice and helpful, cares about his students, makes class interesting. However, do read your text and you should be OK 'cuz tests are multiple choice (objective) and can be kind of tough if you don't know your stuff. Super great guy!
Wonderful guy! Makes class brilliantly interesting. He cares about his students and goes out of his way to be there for them (like the night before an exam or to look over exams). Interesting topics. Tests aren't too bad if you read, go to class, and take good notes. Highly recommended!
Take this guy...he has such an interesting take on things. What a witty guy. Not a terribly easy class but wont be murder. I'll never forget how he accompanied his lectures with Dr. Suess books...
Heard horror stories before taking the class, but they're unfounded. A really good teacher, presents Stats as puzzle to make it more interesting. Definitely a theoretical math class, you need to understand what's really going on, not just where to plug in stuff. Read the book, pay attention, get A.
UGH! This class was awful! He is so unclear and gives random quizzes which are impossible. This is math for poli sci majors, man. Help us out here!
Class is fun, he's a great guy, brilliant and an awesome sense of humor. He has a huge heart and compassionate spirit. You'll learn a lot from class and leave a better person.

the hardest class i've ever taken in my life, but i went in at least twice a week for help and he really took as much time as i needed to help me. he can be intense because he's so smart and loves the subject, but he's really cool.
He was interesting and willing to help students outside of class.
What a ridiculous little man. Willing to meet you before class but never really willing to help you all the way. Felt like he thought I deserved a grade and made sure I got it. Stench for a sense of humor. Decent handwriting. Wished he was cooler when he was our age. Jealous of athletes and cool people in general.
Funny guy, really approachable, very hard test though.
He is a great guy and a great teacher. He's very knowledgeable about the subject and knows how to make it fun. He uses creative examples like Dr. Seuss! He doesn't take roll because it's such a big class. If you listen to the lectures and don't read the book you will pull a high C or low B.
I liked him as a teacher but he formed inappropriate relationships with students! He needs to mind the line!
A nice guy, always tells funny/interesting stories. Shows a lot of clips, reads Dr Suess in class. Overall an intersting class. Tests arent bad if you read the text, and the papers he gives gives you a chance to bring up your grade. Dont have to take notes, but if you miss class and the movieclips, will miss questions on test.
He was pretty funny, and the class is pretty easy as long as you show up. the chapters are loooonnnggg but not too bad. just make sure you show up! it's in elkins so it's tempting not to..
Prof. Perrin is amazing! His tests are easy and come right out of the book and lectures. The only assignments are 4 - 2 page papers about sociological principles. He is funny and makes sure class isn't boring. Also the final isn't cumulative!
The only time people do poorly in this class is when they fail to do one of three things: show up to class, read the book, take notes he doesnt have in the power point. It really is easy if you just put in the work.
Dr. Perrin is great! Very funny and really tries to get to know students by joking around with them. His lectures are really clear and makes a hard subject like STATS seem easier. Tests can be tricky but good studying will make them ok. Is always availible for questions and tries to tie everything to real world applications. Great Prof!
I had Dr. Perrin last year, and it was great. It's easy as long as you read and attend pretty regularly. His powerpoints are straightforward, and all the test questions basically come out of there and the book. It seems like he understands that it's a GE and teaches accordingly. He's pretty funny and makes class interesting.
Perrin's exams are reasonable if you've completely the chapter readings. He adds questions in reference to his lectures so attend class! Great professor, tough exams.
Dr. Perrin is an all star! His class is really great, and he knows how to turn a math requirement into an engaging class where you think about the role of statistics in society and really strengthen your analytical skills. He is funny, intelligent, and wonderfully energetic in class---you don't know that stats can be a joy until taking his class.
Take this class if you want to work your ass off. His tests are some of the hardest I have taken in any Stats class. Although he is extremely helpful outside of class, his lectures always end up not following the book and he does not interpret it well. Take Cail instead, where you actually learn the material by just doing 10 somewhat easy quizzes.
He is very interesting. You watch a lot of videos during his lectures, they are pretty funny and interesting and they relate to class. He can be very funny. As for his tests, I always studied the night before with friends, notecards made from the book, and his power points and I did fine. Overall, he is pretty good and interesting.
I really learned a lot from Perrin's class. His expectations are highly reasonable and the lectures are interesting and engaging. He includes lots of videos and polls in his slide-shows, and he sends you the powerpoint presentations prior to class.
he's not clear at all. makes an easy class such as sociology hard as Hell. many students i know feel the same way about him.
Perrin made stats a bearable course for me, which is saying a lot for a history major. He keeps class lively and entertaining while still guiding us through the material. It certainly isn't the easiest course on campus, but if you want to/need to take stats, Perrin is your man
Perrin was by far my easiest class, but there's only 3 tests that mean a lot. He curves the grades. If you do the reading and go to class you'll be fine...I recommend taking notes by hand. Perrin's funny and interesting, and the kind of guy you wanna get to know. But some people thought he was hard... I say he's an easy A and you learn a ton
I had Dr. Perrin for his SOC 250 (stats) class as well and all I can say is he is one of the best professors on campus. He is clear, concise, and fair. Nothing on his tests comes as a surprise, and he is always available outside of class for help. Take him for Soc200 if you get the chance, you won't regret it.
This guy is amazing! Super cool dude and I ABSOLUTELY recommend his class..his tests are difficult but they come as no surprise..so study for sure! Textbook really important, so read it! But cool, funny, interesting class.
Does not prepare for class. Simply reads the power points and rephrases what is written on the slides. Sends power points to you before classes so I don't see much reason to go to class besides the videos that he shows that he uses during lectures and uses for multiple choice questions. My least favorite class at Pepperdine.
One of the best teachers at Pepperdine. Go visit him during office hours. He not only helps you with the material, he tells you tons on interesting stuff. One of the first professors I feel like is my friend here. Makes stats easy and funny. Oh, and he will make fun of you.
Dr. Perrin teaches statistics as if you already know it and can be very condescending, even in his office hours. He is not a good teacher at all- not methodical or organized in his teaching style. You must buy the textbook for this class in order to do the homework, but you do not have to show up (unless you're not OK with missing quiz points).
I read every single chapter & studied the study guides he gave us very thoroughly, & yet I ended up with a C- in this class. I really did try. His test questions are just SUPER specific & you do have to go to class because he asks questions about random stuff to give students that go to class a higher grade. I love Perrin as a person though.
Awesome guy. Got a 100% on the first test and then didnt read the book for the second one but still pulled off a 95. Pay attention in class and study his powerpoints and you will be fine
Dr. Perrin is a sarcastic and witty professor. He is very passionate about sociology and loves teaching. Go to class because he will give hints and questions he'll give on the test as an incentive to those who go to class every day. His tests are pretty challenging but as long as you study the day before you'll be fine
Dr. Perrin is a sarcastic and entertaining person, but he's not the best professor. He puts far too much detail on the PowerPoints (but sends them to you beforehand) and lectures by summarizing what's already written on them. Tests are an odd blend of common sense and unreasonably specific details. He's cool as a person though.
Perrin is a very nice person and is clear with his lectures, but his tests use a lot of random facts from the text just to make sure that you read. Frustrating that going to class and reading once isn't enough- memorize the stats!
For a large Elkins class, Perrin did a good job lecturing and keeping my attention. You only have 3 tests to determine your grade - if you read the textbook and takes notes in his class, you'll be fine for his exams. Not easy, but recommended!
Prof. Perrin is hilarious! I enjoy his lectures even if I don't necessarily enjoy the content always. Make sure and study for tests or else you will not pass. Showing up isn't mandatory but it can get you extra points on the exams!
Perrin is a very interesting professor. I learned a lot in his class. Grade 2 midterms + Final + 4 Inquiries. Remember to read the textbook and all of those PDF reading. Also, show up in class. A lot of test questions are based on classes. He will even ask very very detailed things in class. Trust me, remember every single word he says.
Dr. Perrin is probably my favorite professor! He cares about his students tremendously and knows most of his students names, even in the lecture classes. I forgot to turn in my inquiries on time for the first set, and he accepted them, graded them himself, and gave me full credit. He's hilarious in class, but take notes on everything he says.
Dr. Perrin is a great professor! Cares about students, tries to make lectures entertaining by cracking jokes and telling stories, and tries to make students aware of why social issues matter. He's a tough grader and his tests are super detailed--take detailed notes on his personal stories too--he tends to test on those as well!
Dr. Perrin is a really good professor that is very caring of his students. His exams can be a bit random at times (ie. asks for quotes and statistics); however, the class overall is not extremely difficult and an A is easily attainable if you read all his assigned readings and take notes during lecture.
His lectures are useless he just reads them off, then the tests are all on the book. Questions from the book aren't on important material. Has got to be the worst professor I've ever had! He doesn't deserve to be called a "teacher" because you won't learn anything.
Our entire grade is 3 tests. Lectures are word for word off the power point, and he doesn't take attendance. Pretty chill for a required class I guess.
Literally the worst prof ever. Your grade is only based off of three tests and the tests are super random. The tests aren't even based off of the study guide and he literally makes the tests the night before. 10/10 would not recommend. Please don't make the same mistake I did!!!!
I love Perrin. Such a great teacher. Just make sure you do the readings every week. Also do the study guides, it practically has all the questions that are gonna be on the test!
Mr. Perrin is an amazing teacher! He has such a funny personality and makes his lectures very interesting. As long as you attend the lectures and pay attention, you will do well in the class. Also fill out the study guides that he provides, they are very helpful!!!
Dr. Perrin is a funny guy, he's a great person but his tests are minimal and very specific. There are often things on the study guide that don't come up in test, but specific questions in the test that weren't on the study guide and you cannot guess... Although I like him, my aim towards the end of the class was to just pass...
Perrin is very forward thinking. You'll learn a lot of valuable things when you take this course, but this can be overshadowed by the fact that his tests are very unorthodox. You have to constantly be paying attention b/c on every test, a good amount of the questions will ask what he SAID about a certain topic. Lots of reading. Grade is 3 tests.
Elkins class, so participation isn't required, but if you miss 1 class, you have missed a lot. About 40 percent of his exam is based on an account from class or his opinion. A really awesome and caring man. Your entire grade will be based on 3 exams. 4 social inquiries are required that just bump you up/down 1/3 of a letter grade (ex: C+ to a B-)
Perrin is hilarious and does a good job keeping the class interesting. Although he treats the class like we are all high school kids, I can't complain. Would recommend if you have to take soc200. Tip, don't miss class. He'll have random questions on the test you can only know if you listened to his lectures
Perrin is what you would expect of a college professor. He is funny and nice, and tries his best to keep class interesting. I go to class but you honestly don't have to. The tests are fair but some questions are oddly specific and hard to study for. I took him for Soc 200 and it's just a basic college class.
Perrin is legitimately the best. Hes hilarious and very engaging and makes Sociology easy. Just pay attention in class and youll do fine.
Super funny, sends slides to you so you don't have to go to class and you can study at home. Tests are fine, some questions are worded very strangely and are the majority of your grade.
Dr. Perrin is genuine and hilarious. He makes his classes fun and very interesting. He is a tough grader, so you have to make sure you know the info... Definitely worth taking a class from him. He is amazing!
Perrin is awesome! Literally the reason I am now double majoring! He keeps class interesting and will give you perspective. He is also very caring and kind, truly wants you to succeed. The class is not to hard as long as you keep up with the reading and go to class!
One of the worst professors I've taken. All of his tests were so unbelievably subjective. Get ready to memorize his opinion. He does not care about outstanding circumstances. He has no mercy. He's insensitive and not very personable. His class was very unorganized and chaotic. I would not recommend. Literally any other professor would be better.
Extremely boring lectures and talks very slowly. Assigns a lot of reading (textbook and pdf readings) and 3 tests which consist of very detailed questions. There are 4 inquiry papers that aren't that bad. Made sociology a boring subject, my hardest class, and not enjoyable at all.
Three exams decide everything. He is the worst professor I have ever met. Don't do his study guide because not even one questions are on it. Remember every sentences he said in the lecture and class, because his tests questions are based on it. Please be a kind person! If you treat others well, other people will do the same thing to you.
Three tests are super random. If you want to get high grade, you must remember everything he said. I would not recommend
One of the worst professors I've taken. All of his tests were so unbelievably subjective. Get ready to memorize his opinion. He does not care about outstanding circumstances. He has no mercy. He's insensitive and not very personable. His class was very unorganized and chaotic. I would not recommend.
One word to describe Perrin's class would be controversial. Every lecture there seems to be a joke or thing that makes you uneasy. His tests are very opinionated. You will feel obligated to attend the lectures for the extra credit he gives, but the lectures teach you nothing. Horrible tests and lectures. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO NOT TAKE.
I memorizes each study guide word for word and barely passed the exams. They're based solely on his lectures, which are unstructured, scattered, and always biased. There's no use in learning sociology, just memorize his opinion. If you're not a good test taker - like me - don't take this class.
Perrin's class is all based on four tests and two inquiry entries. You do not have to attend each and every lecture to get a good grade however it does certainly help. His study guides are not extremely helpful so I rely on quizlets. Overall the class is difficult but not impossible if you put work into it. His tests do have opinions questions.
Youll find his class to be tedious and draining. Lectures can feel like an eternity, and are punctuated by flaccid attempts at humor that leave the class palpably unimpressed. Occasionally, Perrins dry humor will result in slight audience discomfort. Poorly written test questions are something to watch for; study reading assignments with care.
Robin Perrin seems like a good guy and his lectures are interesting. The concepts are not too difficult to understand and he makes himself available if you need more help. The only thing is though is that you will be tested on his opinion. He is obviously very liberal and that's fine, but it shows in his teaching when it doesn't have to.
Hes a decent professor. You can tell he cares, although sometimes the lectures can be a bit-off putting. He tries to be funny. Pretty down to earth. I dont read the textbook, but I do read the extra readings. The textbook and the lecture overlap, but the readings are important for the test. Decently easy exams with participation and reading.
So easy. All I did to study was complete the study guide he gives the night before and I got an A on every test. He has random specific questions about the readings and stuff he said in class on the tests, but the readings are pretty interesting for the most part. Grades very easily on inquiry papers which can boost your grade 1/3 of a letter.
Flaky and disorganized. Actually sent out an article that would be included as course content on the final exam the NIGHT BEFORE SAID FINAL EXAM. The content of the course isnt challenging, but he does his level best to make up for that.
He is a nice guy and funny. His lectures are amusing, but a little far out there. However, is study guides have nothing to do with the test. His tests are HIS opinion questions. His tests can be about the most random thing he mentioned from class. His lectures make people's jaws drop in shock. Good luck.
Perrin is an acquired taste, but you can't say he's not passionate about sociology. Deviance is a good class that covers a wide range of topics and Perrin always makes it interesting. I really recommend him for UPPER DIVISON classes. My advice for any Perrin class: be assertive. He respects people who call him out and have strong opinions.
The thing about this class is that not everyone has a grip on sociology, and it can be hard for some students to learn. If you have the brain for it, you will do fine. Go to class because he will say random things and show videos that he will ask about on exams. Put effort into the inquiries because they will boost your grade! I enjoyed the class.
Bro's tests are actually written in old english. I don't know how you can get a good grade without guessing. This is enough to give him a 1 because his entire class is made up of 4 tests. Despite all of his lectures which are good, and the fact that he's pretty funny, all that goes to the wayside when you have tests that make no sense whatsoever.
Perrin is a hilarious guy and his class is funny and sometimes enjoyable, but his test are absolutely insane. Don't even bother reading the study guide because it wont matter. He is very opinionated and the questions on his test dramatically exemplify that. My advice is to write down every single word you hear because you will get quizzed on it.
Perrin is pretty disorganized and goes off topic a lot. He will test you on his opinions on topics and random things he says in class. I didn't learn that much and the material and stats he gives feel outdated. I took this class in Elkins and would recommend taking it in a smaller class if possible. The only positive is that he curves tests.
Even though attendance was not mandatory, Professor Perrin made me want to come to class every week because he was so engaging and his lectures were fascinating. He is a bit scatterbrained and unprepared at times, but his lectures made up for it. Super funny guy. Would definitely take again!
Perrin's tests are literally written in old English, super subjective and insane(he always give u questions that being randomly mentioned in class and they're impossible to be covered by study guide), but his lectures are hilarious though.
hes a cool guy, but please go to class. the material is easy, but the test is lecture heavy. he drops a midterm, but the final sneaks up on u its way different from the midterms. i failed the final, but did A-s on the midterms, but everyone failed the final so bad he dropped the final.
Perrin's class is a wild ride - his lectures are hilarious, but his tests are unpredictable and tough. Attendance is a must, and Unstuckstudy proved super helpful for staying on top of the material.
He is an engaging teacher and it is clear he cares about what he is teaching. Important to pay attention during lectures.
Professor Perrin doesn't teach well. Most of the class is memorizing information he spews. The grade you receive is entirely dependent on four multiple choice tests. Tests are a combination of lecture content and assigned reading. If you want to do well on the test, memorize everything you read. Only take if you have free time.
Ugh, such a love hate relationship with this class. I loved professor perrin as a person but his class not so much. His tests are not hard and not written in old English, but I did not do good in them. I went to class, studied, and did all the readings. Definitely wish his class was not a lecture style class!
Good luck studying for his exams. I almost ALWAYS get A's in every class I take, but his was hopeless. The lecture would be like, "the wealth gap in America is really big" and I'd be like duh. Okay perfect, this test will be easy. The test: "What story did I tell about my son's wedding and what's my opinion on this socioligical debate?"
Very mixed feelings about Perrin. I love his lectures because he's hilarious and I find them engaging. But on the other hand I did all the readings, attended every class, paid attention, yet I didn't do good on the tests at all which make up your whole grade. So if you're like me, this class will be hard to get an A in but he really is a great guy
