Amazing Professor. The class consists of several weekly posts, and the prof makes an effort to respond to every post. The course is a lot of work, but if you do it you will get a good grade.
Awesome prof! He sends many unprompted, personalized emails about how you are doing, which is something I have never had a prof do before, EVER! If you participate and do the work its an easy A! This was a very refreshing course that allows for lots of creativity, would 10/10 recommend.
This online course is crazy easy to get an A in and it was about half the work of any of my other courses this term. Dr. Persad seemed really nice, although his feedback and instructions were not always 100% clear. You can tell he really made an effort to connect with each student individually even though it was an online class.
The best prof I've had at Laurier. Facilitate your learning through great feedback and discretion when completing assignments. He wants to see you succeed and does a good job at helping you develop an interest in the course. 10/10 recommend EM202, very easy course but also a VERY informative and interesting subject. Great professor!
This course as a whole was very easy but he does a great job making it easy for you too. He is always willing to give extensions if needed and really wants you too succeed. Only issue I had was with his feedback, he gave very cookie cutter feedback which didn't directly apply to your assignment. Many of us would get the exact same feedback.
BEST PROF
Awesome prof, provides great feedback.
Best prof! Provided clear feedback and was even willing to help me out and review assignments if I finished them early. Really nice guy swell, checking up on students and he really understands when things are busy how we may feel. Highly suggest taking his course.
Great guy! Gives lots of feedback, easy marker, and is super understanding when it comes to extensions.
Dr. Persad is a very engaged and caring professor. Be sure to complete ALL activities for EM 203 (even if they don't count for marks). Your final mark is determined by few things, therefore you must do all activities in order to complete the major assignments, as they build off of the course materials. Easy A+ if you put the work in!
Buddy, Robin Persad is a COMPLETE bro; nothing more needs to be said.
First off, a lot of people raved about this professor and was told by multiple people to take this class. However, this semester Robin marked all assignments extremely hard. Barely any one got marks above a C-B range for most assignments, and his feedback was useless and made no sense whatsoever. Absolutely regret taking this class.
Great prof! Gives feedback for everything. Super engaged in the course. Thanks Robin!!
He is not just teacher but also good inspiration for me.
Amazing prof! Genuinely cares about his students and takes the time to get to know each and every one of them. Sends emails to see how you're doing and posts inspirational messages every week. Literally the best!
The course content and assignments are basic, but the prof is clueless. Two written assignments make up 2/3rd's of your grade and are limited to under 500 and 1000 words, respectively. The instructions have not been updated from previous years to adjust for current information and his feedback is written in improper english.
The professors feedback does not align with assignment rubrics whatsoever. Professor Persad lists his own specializations as "technology and 21st century learning", however he even struggles to open online drop boxes during the correct times. His feedback is copied and pasted for each student and filled with gramatical errors. Do not recommend.
Professor Persaud is lenient and understanding with issuing extensions on assignments. Very nice, however his guidance and critique is not overly helpful and is sometimes hard to understand. The content is fairly easy and if you put the work in you should receive a good mark however the main problem with the course the near illegible feedback.
To be blunt, this professor isn't qualified to be teaching elementary students. His courses are introductory education courses i.e. a Twitter course about 21st century learning. His assignments are designed for him to have to do the least amount of work/grading as possible. 50% assignment limited to 700-1000 words and feedback is written Franglish.
I feel bad giving Robin a poor grade because he is very accommodating to his students. The only issue is that he is NOT clear with assignment guidelines and advice is not understandable. The weekly assignments couldn't be easier but he needs to update the grading scheme to incentivize other weekly work.
Least knowledgeable professor I've ever experienced. I asked for clarification on the final assignment in EM0203 two weeks before the due date. The prof responded to my email at 1 am the day after the due date. The response was lacklustre also and wouldn't have provided any help. Completely unprofessional.
Was able to work towards my A by doing the course work. Robin is amazing and draws many meaningful connections. The negative comments are those that do not put in work.
This prof was good throughout the semester - always posted updates and what to do each week. When it comes to grading the essays (84% of your mark), he assigns you random marks with generalized feedback copy and pasted to all students. He'd mark the exact same essay with a C for one student and an A for another. No consistency/logic for your grades
Where do I start with Robin Persad. He will give you a decent mark on the first project (which is easy), but things will soon go downhill on the next 2 assignments. His instructions are unclear, feedback is unhelpful, grading is subjective, and he will insult your intelligence when you ask for clarification. Just don't take a course with Robin.
The most unclear, unprofessional and subjective course I've taken at Wilfrid Laurier. I do not recommend anyone to take a course like this with Robin unless absolutely necessary. The grading on the last two projects (worth 66%) has no clear guidelines and he does not mark according to the rubric. I would question his teaching qualifications.
Ms. Persad is very fair and always is engaged in discussions. The class was focused on technology and Twitter. Very relevant.
-amazing course -prof is super -best course I have taken
Got a B peeps but my own fault. I did not do work till the last minute. Take your time and you will do well. Robin is chill and will guide you. His messages shows he wants you to do well. I have not had a prof like him before.
This class was easy but you have to stay on task. I am grateful to have Robin as my professor. He encouraged me with all his great feedback. Was he a woman?
PROFESSOR IS FABULOUS. VERY GENUINE, AUTHENTIC, CARING AND GIVES LOTS OF FEEDBACK.
I recommend this course. Nothing but excellent.
Wa gwan. The professor was bomb. Best professor at uni here. Feedback was given online and I felt like I was a student noticed in class.
This online courses surpasses the other online courses. Robin made me a realize the potential of Twitter.
Great Professor! He was always willing to go above and beyond for his students. His course was clear and well written.
"This courses surpasses other online courses." This could only have been written by none other than Robin Persad himself. Nice grammar, Professor!
Robin is a great professor who is very accommodating to shows commitment to his students. He cares and it is easily displayed through his communication and messages.
I think the course professor did a great job facilitating the course and I appreciated the constructive and descriptive feedback. She was very accommodating and modified for me.
Mrs. Persad was a prof that I admire. She was so supportive and caring to my needs. You wont have another prof like her.
Great prof.
This was the best class ever. Thank you Ms. Presad
Such a sweet professor. Very academic course.
I enjoyed everything about the course. Robin shared a new perspective and wonderful feedback.
Don't take this if you want to learn. Terrible online modules that you work through yourself and provides no value. The assignments weren't much work but the instructions are vague. Wouldn't be an issue if she marked easy, but all of a sudden she's critiquing your work with 30 questions and comments, all of which had no mention in the instructions.
I am convinced any good rating on here is written by Robin himself. Theres basically two assignments worth the majority of your grade and the instructions are so vague. The marking is so subjective and when he marks, the comments had nothing to do with the instructions. Take the course if you want to do no work but don't take it for your GPA.
Just finished the course. Ms. Persad provides so much feedback and makes sure to share that she cares about us. This is an excellent course and professor. This was the best course out of the 3 others I had. She is soooo accommodating.
Ms. Robin contributed greatly to my learning and made course fun. She was really flexible.
The best course this term. Such a caring and nice instructor.
Wow she is very supportive and understanding. lol s of feedback that was constructive.
Yo this course is interesting and the prof is so sweet. She is nothing but caring and helpful.
Hey guys! I recommend the class. Pretty straightforward and easy to get a good mark if you try :)
Take the course! The course is centred around Twitter and tech. I recommend Robin since she graded fairly and really keeps you engaged.
Gives great personalized feedback weekly, which really shows that there is an interest in the students and is extremely encouraging! Wants students to do well.
Dr. Persad is an amazing professor! He posted every week what we needed to do, provided extensive feedback and overall really cares for his students! Will gladly take another course with him!!
Kindest professor I have ever had. So much feedback and personalized emails throughout the term just to check in on you. Extended deadlines as COVID made things tough. Work is reasonable in amount and time to do it. Loved this course and how the prof made it so easy for our generation to connect to the material. A real gem.
Really nice prof, cares about his students. Course structure means you can get away with not doing the readings (or learning anything).
Awesome prof and actually cares about students, motivates and provides check-ups. The content was light and very easy. However, the content is VERY broad and when it came to projects it was difficult to answer because the content was hard to apply. Easy A if you follow the roadmap. Feedback is broad and was not mentioned in rubric.
One of the best professors I have had. Always available, and responds to all work including discussion posts with great feedback and care. Would 100% take this class again, so I would recommend taking it with Professor Persad. A good amount of work but need to put the work in.
Amazing prof, kind and caring towards students, takes time to read and reply to all discussion posts and assignments and gives great feedback.
Amazing professor, genuinely cares about each one of his students and does check ins by emailing students about how they're doing so far in his class and if they need any help.
Prof. Persad is fairly clear in what he expects from students, though the rubrics can be kind of confusing. That said, if you're having trouble, speak up! He's a really nice guy and won't hesitate to help if you need it.
This has got to be the easiest course I have ever taken. EASY! That said, as an education course focused on social media, it's dated and not too useful. Also, as mentioned the prof sends "caring emails" but the ones that went to my personal email all came dear student (for some reason emails went to MyLs + gmail). Pretty sure all form emails.
Robin is a super caring and accommodating prof who checks in on students and provides great feedback for every assignment and even discussion post. The course consists of 3 written assignments (50%, 16% and. 30%) and weekly twitter challenges (4%) grading wise. 10/10 would recommend this as an elective.
This prof is super nice and caring unlike other profs youll meet. Really genuine and definitely take a course with him. He sure helps you if want to succeed and do well in the class. One of the nicest online profs Ive ever had thats for sure.
Dr. Persad was an amazing prof! He gives great feedback and checks in with his students throughout the semester. The course content is pretty straightforward and he is lenient with extensions if you ask. He is an overall easy marker and provides feedback to help improve future assignment grades. 10/10
If you have the chance to have this prof, DO IT! I could write a novel of nice things to say. So caring, inspirational, understanding, and encouraging. He willingly gives you extensions and understands there is life outside of uni. He is a light in dark times during uni and a nice refresh compared to other courses. We need more profs like Robin!!!
Mr. Persad was a great prof! He was lenient in giving extensions on assignments and gave good to improve for next time. I would definitely recommend EM203 with Robin Persad as an elective!
Prof Persad is a very caring person and the class is an easy elective course that can boost your grade. However, the class is not very useful and pretty outdated, it does not provide intellectual stimulation. Definitely not a course that should be university level. If you have a heavy course load and need an elective to lighten things up take it.
He was mean and he always lowered my average
She's alright. That's it. The course material is interesting but for the half of the assignments you have to pull bs out of thin air. Her due dates on the syllabus don't match the due dates she will post on the ANNOUNCEMENTS. Inconsistent. Won't open dropbox until the last-minute mentioned due date. Inconvenient. Lacks structure and convenience.
What an amazing prof
He's honestly super sweet and will give extensions if needed. But, for some reason, he gives everyone the same grade.
the goat i loved his weekly emails
A very easy class, but his marking is extremely unfair. Everyone in my class got the exact same grades and feedback (word for word) on every assignment.
Dr. Persad provided great descriptive feedback. He was very supportive and ensured we all had a knowledgeable learning experience.
Awsome professor! Very approachable and the feedback was great. Dr. Persad kepts a great flow.
Easy Class, but most disorganized weekly schedule/syllabus I have ever seen. Clearly makes no effort to be any kind of organized or clearly outline anything but I guess that's kind of what you'd expect from a bird course
Dr. Persad honestly is amazing. People are using other peoples work from the past and AI in all classes so I can see why marks would be similar or the same. Dr. Persad is the GOAT. He pushes you to critical think and helps you. He is super passionate and caring. Its a course that is easy if you do your work. I have had Dr. Persad in other courses
Bro this course is nice. You get feedback and understand what to do next. The prof is always genuinely compassionate. He understand and listens to your needs and accomodates. This course is gwanin!!!!!!!
I think that Dr. Persad creates a safe an welcoming space. Very positive prof and always willing to help. I personally enjoyed the course and relates to social media (X to be exact). Very different course I have taken but its a great elective. I had taken Game Design and Development but if I compared them, I would go with EM 203.
Did not like any student who would voice respectful feedback - immediately takes any criticism personally regardless of delivery.
The highest grade you'll get is an 11. The professor gives similar feedback to everyone, and his expectations often don't align with the rubric. Even if you meet the rubric, his feedback is random and irrelevant. He doesn't seem to read assignments thoroughly. Course content is outdated and unorganized. Easy course, but don't expect a 12.
He is very very flexible and kind. Will send out motivation emails. I wish he had upper year courses I would love to have him again. He thanked us every week for handing in our work. When I tell you this is the BEST prof you will encounter I'm being so deadass. Like plz take this class if you can. I took it in the summer, no exams. PERFECTTTT!
For anyone worrying about the everyone gets an 11 thing. I just finished this course, and honestly, if you keep up with the weekly (ungraded) discussion posts and put some effort into your reflections, you can get a 12 without much work.
Gives grewat feedback, and assignments/instuctions were straightforward
Nice teacher, but will give everyone the exact same mark (11) and feedback word for word. When I asked for a regrade because the feedback had nothing to do with the rubric and my paper, he sent paragraphs of 100% AI declining my request.
Persad's feedback was copied and pasted throughout the semester, although all the assignments were pretty straightforward. Not sure what other reviews are saying, but it is possible to receive a 12 in this course. Just follow the rubric and instructions, and you will be fine.
Great professor very flexible with deadlines, sends motivational messages and marks fairly quick. Is a fair marker will listen if u feel like u did better.
