Robin is great!! I love her math songs-it's gettin' hot in here-she is wonderful and has the best sense of humor!

Rufatto was an awesome prof. She made everything VERY clear and easy to understand, and if you had any problems she would have absolutely no problems in helping you out. I would have to say she was one of the best math teachers ever.
She was the BEST professor I have ever had!!
Great!
I could write a book on how great Mrs. R. is, she is not only a great math teacher but a friend to all of her students.
Never try to argue with her. Even if you are right, she will burn you and basically black list you for the remainder of the semester.
Prof. Ruffato seems to like her subject and it shows in her class.
This woman is cloying and appears very enthusiastic at first, but at least once a week she does something to totally destroy this illusion. She seems to be only putting on a front, and sitting through class with her teaching is an exercise in my patience.
she was the best math teacher i have ever had
If every math instructor I ever had was as good as her I would have had an easier time with this subject all along.
great professor...will help you out f you need it
Very genuine teacher. Supplies you with notes for class and as long as you go and pay attention, it all falls into place. Classes are not that boring and she tries to make them fun. I would recommend having her as a teacher.
Great teacher! Tests are a bit hard, but if you study you will do just fine.
I hate math, but this was the best math class I have ever taken. She actually teaches you things that you'll use in life. Just pay attention and do homework and you'll be fine.
Class was pretty easy she keeps it interesting
Really didn't like the class. Unless you struggle at math, take another math class. She knows who the smart kids are and bugs them in class. Would have been better off taking MATHS 135.
She is a great teacher
I absolutely loved her:) She is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. It was my second time taking Maths201 and even though I had been introduced to the material once before, she made me learn it in a whole other way that relates to children. If at all possible - GET HER FOR ANY CLASS:)
She was very nice, but a little too friendly at times. I couldn't take the class seriously because it was way too easy. I passed with a 101.4%
Mrs. Ruffato is a wonderful teacher. She will always stop in any lecture to answer any of your questions. Make sure to do the work and you will get the grade. This is one of those teachers that is so rare that you have to take her class. She is so good!
She went WAY out of her way to help me. She was an amazing teacher, always smiled and said hi by your first name in passing on the street too. She was really good. I don't like math, and she made the subject easier to understand.
She is pretty funny and laid back. Everything was done on hand-out notes that she gave us, so we never used the book in class. She is a really great professor that cares about her students.
I'm sorry, But she was very hard! I have always been good at math and I have to retake this class again. She is very strict and if you are sick "Oh Well" she doesn't care!!
She was amazing. Super helpful and really willing to work with her students! The way she has the class set up it is really hard to fail
She is a great teacher. She loves her job and her students and it really shows.
Best math teacher I have ever had. She teaches the material very well. Her tests are pretty tough. I am horrible at math and got a B.
So Helpful!!!
She is a great teacher. I've been as bsu for 2 years now and hands down my favorite. She will take as much time to answer and questions you have. If you have to take math 136 she is the teacher to have.
She thoroughly explains the concepts to students. If you don't get one explanation she will explain it in a completely different way so you can understand it. One bad thing is you have to work fast on tests and quizzes. Lots of questions and thinking, not much time.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had. She makes sure everyone understands how to do the work. I had never taken clac before and I have a chance to get an A. Take her if you have to take MATHS 132
Hate math, very bad at it. She was great, very helpful and I ended up liking the class. She made class fun and exciting. She was very helpful, gives lots of opportunities to get a good grade. Got 51% on first test, and a 75 on 2nd one and still ended up with a B+.
While the calculus was challenging, Prof Ruffato was very helpful. She was extremely nice and was super willing to help. Go to office hours, it will pay off!
Great class, interesting. Choose Dr. Rufatto if you have the chance!
Attendance is mandatory & perfect attendance = 10 extra points. Exams are short & work problems only. Midterm & final are multiple choice. Homework & quizzes are easy & usually due before each class period. She drops 3 quizzes &, I think, 10 homework assignments. She is so hilarious & awesome. There really is no reason to skip her class!
Very easy to get a good grade if you go to class and do your homework!
Overall a great teacher. You get extra credit for going to every class, and trust me in the end it helps. She always wants to help, sometimes goes above and beyond. All together she wants to see every student succeed, and will do her best to accomplish that.
Gets distracted every class, and doesn't provide proper examples in class. She gets mad a lot and she is a very picky grader. Does not give anyone a second chance with homework or make up quizzes/tests.
The most annoying thing about this proffessor is that she is very rude.
Horrible teacher! Not helpful at all. Expects students to already understand the material. Always off topic. EXTREMELY RUDE. Test are ALL open answer even the accumulative final. Unorganized as all get out! We took 2 quizzes and 2 tests in the last 4 weeks of the class due to her poor planning. AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!!
She is a very great professor. I didn't like math prior to taking her class but she made it fun and interesting for me. She is always willing to help you if you have any problems or questions and genuinely cares about her students!
Very good professor! Wants to make sure that you are going to benefit and learn a lot from her class. Is always willing to help and explain until you understand completely. Homework helps a lot. She takes attendance and has a seating chart. Tests and quizzes aren't too hard if you study, do the homework and know the material. Very fun lady!
Incredibly easy class, extremely unnecessary workload. Expect mass amounts of graded busywork. Rude Prof, very disorganized and non-structured. Does not give formulas and makes concepts much more difficult than needed. Google teaches me more than her, and had I not taken a prob/stats class before, I would be failing due to poor instruction.
If you want to learn math take her. If you have thin skin she may not be for you b/c she calls it like she sees it. She goes out of her way to help students understand & is extremely helpful and loves to crack jokes. Her sense of humor and easy-going attitude makes her math classes engaging!I have taken her class twice now and would take her again!
As of now i believe all of her classes are based on a new online system. The system makes everything a lot easier and she will help you as much as possible to succeed in the class. this is from someone who has failed math 108 twice then got an A with her.
She is an awesome professor! If you ever need help she is more than willing to find time to help you. Pop quizes. She makes it a point at the beginning of the year that if you do not show up you will not pass. She is very blunt and to the point. If you have a thin skin she is not the professor for you. If you are being lazy she will call you out.
She is so sweet and cares about all her students. If everyone does bad on a test she takes time to make sure everyone gets it. She is so funny. She doesn't always collect the homework and has lots of small quizzes. You have to have the textbook to do homework. If you miss more than 7 classes you won't get more than a C in the class.
She is an awful teacher and an horrible human-being
Mrs. Rufatto is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She really tries to drill the concepts into your head and make you understand stuff; she doesn't move on until everyone gets it. There were some classes where we'd just spend the entire time going over the homework until we understood it. She drops your lowest quiz grades too, so that's a plus
Most difficult class I've ever taken. There is zero teaching by this professor. DO NOT take this class online if you have a choice. No teaching, she just posts assignments & grades. You will self teach & invest HOURS of time studying if you hope to pass. Make sure you work towards 100% on all assignments, even though 80% is required. REALLY HARD!
Ball State must really be desperate for math teachers. I don't understand how she got this job. If you have trouble with math just take these credits at Ivy Tech, the math department here leaves a lot of be desired.
Of all the people I have met in my life Robin Rufatto was the most detrimental to my future. I had to drop out of school because I couldn't get through her calculus class. I went to a tutor several time a week still couldn't pass. She is rude and a poor teacher.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!
She is very rude and unhelpful.
She is basically the worst person ever.
She's super sweet; HOWEVER, she focuses on things other than math. The majority of the information I have regurgitated for tests has been what I've taught myself. She's so disorganized and forgetful it's insane. She also has NO clue what she's talking about half of the time. When someone corrects her, she says, well this is just how we'll do it.
Her bad teaching destroyed my GPA. She has no business being a teacher.
Just take your math class at Ivy Tech and save yourself some trouble and money
Taking MATH125 with her was the worst experience of my college career. It doesn't seem like she understands math. I had to drop and take it with another teacher.
I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews! I love Mrs. Rufatto! Math is not my strong point, but I have a 96% in the class. Homework is not overwhelming, and she will often review it in class if you need help. Quizzes are beyond easy, all out of 10, the worst score dropped. As long as you watch the vizi and do the homework, you'll pass!
It is hard to describe Robin Ruffato with out using profanity. That I why I am simply going to suggest that you avoid her
Do not take an online class with her. The format is absolutely horrible and your have no one to help you when you don't understand the material.
The best and most helpful professor I have had. She offers to tutor you and to come in for office hours if you are struggling. She expects you to learn the material and requires you to pass the final to pass the class. If you expect her to just let you skate through, you will fail. You have to learn the material but she will help you.
Rufatto is well ... Different. She does not really teach you learn off a program you take quizzes every Monday. This class is really easy if you just follow the examples. The final knowledge check is pretty easy, it is what aleks tests you on, however her final is HARD. i got a 97% on the program one and a 71% on hers. dont expect alot
As math course that heavily uses ALEKS, this is one that I would strongly recommend for those who struggle in math. I loved using ALEKS, some students did not, but I did. For this course, a typical day would include hopping on a computer (that has some restricted use) and working on ALEKS. 20-40 minute lectures from Rufatto were also common.
LOVE this professor! She is such a sweetheart and really cares about her students. Before I took her class I hated math but she makes everything super easy to understand. She does assign homework but it is very minimal and not hard at all. Would highly recommend taking a class with her!
Robin is all over the place. I found her very difficult to follow which made the class more confusing than needed. You watch a lot of Vizi!! She can be an okay professor, but overall she was confusing.
It is so hard to follow along because so much is always going on. It made the class a lot harder than I think it should have been. She's very nice but just hard to follow along. You teach yourself off of Vizi a lot
Dr. Rufatto managed to make a large calculus class feel personal. Classes are lecture heavy but she is happy to stop and answer questions until you get the material. You can get partial credit on tests when you show your work, she's a generous grader. Every test had a high value extra credit question. She likes to sing songs about math.
Rufatto is a great teacher and she provides a lot of resources for learning. If you pay attention in class and practice the math is very easy.
Calculus is a hard class in general, she did a decent job explaining what you need to do and how to do it. She does study sessions with her class, outside of class, hours before the test. She wants you to pass. Attendance is not totally mandatory but if you use all seven of your skips you will not pass the class. Pay attention and you will do fine.
This teacher really wants you to understand. She answers all of you questions and is more than willing to meet outside of class. she has a very quirky personality that can be quite entertaining
Rufatto can easily get off topic, which is hilarious and she is distracted easily. She cares about her students, which is something I liked about her. Her teaching can be confusing, but as long as you watch Vizi, ask for help, study the equations, and do the homework you should do fine! You do have homework almost everyday, but its not that bad.
grades on tests and quizzes but will work with you. She gives great notes that break things down.
She is all over the place and unorganized. She talks about other things than math. Some may find that interesting, but not when the class is moving so fast and you don't get through all the notes. She gives you over 20 problems of homework almost every class. Does not prepare you for test and quizzes.
Rufatto has boring lectures and there is a ton of homework but she strives to inspire her students into loving math. She played a youtube video that played a song about the quadratic formula to the tune of "pop goes the weasel" and I've remembered ever since then (3 years)
I love Robin! She was super nice and funny and I loved attending her class. Although the class sometimes seemed scattered, it's so important that students meet with her outside of class. On my first test I got a 69 then on mine next test after meeting with her I got a 102! As long as you put in the effort and make yourself known, you will do good!
Funny, but very hard class, you have to out in a lot of work
Very lecture heavy with homework due almost every class. When you have to turn in homework it's out of 5 points, one point for doing all the problems and then 4 points from 4 random questions she chooses and if you don't write it the way she wants but still get the correct answer you'll lose a point. Tests are hard, would not recommend.
She's very funny and super nice. She wants to make sure her students are learning and getting the material. She is very personal and likes to get to know her students even though her classes are fairly large, she's good at remembering faces and names of her students!
She is an awesome teacher! If you seek the help, you'll be fine. She is great at explaining the material to you if you may not understand within the classroom. The supplemental instructor is a great resource to take advantage of to get the extra practice. It is crucial to show up everyday. Also, she is very funny teacher to have!
Definitely ask for help. She does a lot to make sure her students understand concepts. Always tries to make math fun.
I am absolutely terrible at math, but this professor is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. Goes above and beyond to help you get the grade you need
She knows what she's talking about, but doesn't know how to communicate that with students. She doesn't post test and quiz dates on Canvas "so students don't show up just for tests and quizzes" her words. She tells you 2-4 days in advance that you have a test or a quiz, and you'll be 4-5 modules ahead of the test you're about to take, overall bad
Rufatto was an amazing brief calculus teacher! She explained things clearly and she answered all of our questions before we learned new material. If you do the homework and actually put the time into the class you should come out with a good grade. She makes sure everyone is on the same page before going forward. Definitely take her!
She was honestly a really nice and understanding woman. It was only frustrating when it came to her use of WebAssign because she's new to it as well. She would change the due dates a lot of the time which was okay because it was always later. If you study you'll be fine. Her policy is if you miss more than 10 classes then you'll get no more than C.
Rufatto is a amazing!!! Math isnt for everyone and a lot of people in my class complained about the class but I was able to get through the semester with a good grade. I thought her teaching style was easy to understand. What I liked about this class was that she replaced 4 quiz grades with homework grades. So she drops your worst!
This was her last semester but it needs to be said that she is the toughest grader there is. Never gave partial credit at all and did not care when questions were asked. She made the class harder after going online for COVID for no reason. Any extra credit given was never out of zero so it did not help at all.
I am not smart when it comes to math, but I will say that this professor worked with me when I went to her office hours! If you have a bad grade, she will work with you to get it up! She is very helpful outside of class but made me work for my grade. I have a lot of respect for her though, definitely take her!
Class was hard
A typical online teacher who can't even figure out how to respond to students. She sure knows how to assign endless amounts of busywork. Very strict with no understanding of wiggle room. Maybe she's different in person, but online might as well replace her with a textbook.
Took her online MATH 108. Took multiple days to respond to important emails, if she even responded. Her lectures were fine, but the course was similar to content covered in middle or high school math. Grading was arbitrary, but the class was credit/no credit so it helped my GPA. Used ALEKS which is a stupid program but it got the job done.
There's a distinct lack of empathy toward the experience of online students. I've experienced it myself, as have many other reviewers who have echoed similar sentiments. Particularly, the harsh policies regarding posting work following quizzes. I can understand taking off some points for failing to. However, giving people zeroes is pretty extreme.
Don't have anything necessarily unique to add. However, I think people should take note that, it seems, reviews for the online courses have a different overall sentiment then the in-person courses. Policies for the online course are not communicated clearly and are enforced with little discussion. I would advise going in for a different instructor.
She seems nice and genuine. But the rules for our online class werent easy to understand. And some of them can impact your grade significantly, even if you did all the work and scored good on quizzes. I've taken a few other online math classes, this one had the most hoops to jump through. It also had the most busywork and alot of it didnt help me.
Sadly, I cannot recommend this professor. At least for online classes. Though she's kind and is very knowledgeable, you are swamped with busy work. The ALEKs platform helps a little bit with this. But the class rules are so overzealous and stringently enforced that its difficult to come away with a positive impression.
She expresses her policies directly, is consistent with them, and is thorough with assignment feedback. However, the course policies for online classes are frankly unacceptable. They go well beyond most online math courses and become very exasperating.
There was no point in paying for tuition for this class as it was entirely done on Aleks. She does a video over one topic a week even though there are usually 10+ that will be on the weekly quiz
