This was an excellent class. She was quick to respond to e-mails and very fair on grading. Two thumbs up. I've heard many complain about her political and moral views to which I say buck-up, work, get your A, and be thankful for it. If you're that conservative, go to a religious college.

I took this class online. Everything went well, grading is easy, not hard at all. You do need to read a bit and do the research paper. Overall normal comp class. Never had to go and meet. You paper will be checked for plagiarism so you better write your own paper.

She wasn't as bad as I thought she was going to be, but she is pretty demanding. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and you will always know what's going on in the class, via the class website.

1 essay over the whole semester, and she breaks it down into different parts so that it is ridiculously easy. No midterm, and final on short stories. Easy A if you make the corrections she tells you to.

Man, I wish her Comp II class fit my schedule!!! On of the most entertaining and effective teachers I've ever had. She knows her stuff, and she knows how to clearly communicate her stuff. On top of that, she's funny as hell. The online activities help too. Extra credit too. Excellent teacher.

As an online teacher...WOW! Spelled everything out for you to make sure you understood it all. Went above and beyond to make sure you understood the research process and gave extra credit. I definitly recommend Simmons to anyone. You'll learn a lot w/out too much stress.

A great teacher.Her on-line class was a wonderful experience. She gives written instructions with examples and is available to answer questions in person or on-line. If you are organized and self-motivated this is the way to go. Your efforts will pay off in the end. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and recommend it to anyone with schedule issues.

This class is extremely easy. If you complete all of the assignments on time and follow instructions I don't see how someone CAN'T get an 'A'in this class. Take her if you can.

Her research paper is simple and she gives you alllllll the class time you need to do it. No way you can get an A in her class. I got a 99% in her class, and my friends all got 96's & 97's. SOooo easy and interesting class!!

I am an A student and I struggled to get an A out of this teacher. Her class is very fair and not too hard. She explains everything to you down to a "T". If you don't do well in this class it is because you can't follow directions.

Amazing teacher! had a very strange sense of humor but was very good at teaching! gives out A LOT of x-tra credit just make sure you stay on top of attendance!

you only have a couple of quizes and papers to base your grade on which makes it hard to do well if you are missing just one thing. she will not answer simple questions for you, you have to go to her website. she treats students and attendance like its the 6th grade! its easy if you NEVER miss a day or anything.

I took her online. Oh my gosh this class was not hard at all and I HATE English!! We took the first 3 months to write our research paper of 2000 words. Then read some short stories. Assignments due once a week & a couple of quizzes in the testing center. Not a hard grader. This is the first time I've made an A in English since middle school.

Everything is very structured. Her online class is blog-style, which was easier to follow than the WebCT classes. But this class is not for lazy folks. She's clear about everything...you MUST follow her instructions. If you do, you will pass.

I took Prof. Simmons Hybrid Comp 101 English class. I thought it was easy. Theres a lot of reading but she does make you stay organized and its a really easy course. Theres a lot of writing involved and if you miss a class you can review her powerpoints which are good. Class can get boring though because there are just lectures no class activities

Took her online for comp 2. Was extremely organized and helpful. One paper, two quizzes and a few discussions. You worked on the paper for most of the semester in parts, which was really helpful. Her powerpoints were very amusing. Overall great experience.

At first I didn't like the class at all. But then it got my interesting becaause you do learn. It's easy to pass just make sure your learning from the reviews, read the assigned articles, and watch grammical errors (thats what killed me).

Her class was great. Everything you do leads up to your paper. The class layout it awesome and the steps you take to write the paper make it a breeze. I wish I could take her again!

Prof Simmons is a great on-line ENC1102 instructor. She gives prompt responses and all her instructions are very clear. Her class was well organized and I wouldn't hesitate to take her on-line again.

I took ENC 1102 online and Prof. Simmons is very helpful and prompt with responses. She averages all assignments and offers bonus assignments. An A in her class requires work and is possible; make sure to double check for grammar and get extra help at the writing center because this can severely bring down your grades. HIGHLY RECOMMENED!

I can't stress enough how amazing her teaching methods/style is! She is organized, artistic, creative, and the classroom atmosphere was GREAT. I got an "A" in her class, not only because I love English, but because Prof. Simmons made everything more interesting and her assignments made us think more. I took her for ENC 1101 and will again for 1102!

I took her ENC class in the summer and I think she is great. She was my first teacher from Valencia. She was very helpful, and always emailed back right away. Her powerpoint presentations were easy to understand and more fun than lectures. Overall, she is awesome to take as long as you can FOLLOW DIRECTIONS (just like with any college class).

My absoulute FAVORITE professor EVER. I took her for Comp. I and got an "A" and took her last semester for Comp. II (this post is late) and got a "B". Too much reading for a Gen. class, specially during Summer semester. 2nd homework has 9 items to read, including reading from NY times and watching a you tube video.

I took Professor Simmons' class online this summer and it was very stress-free. A lot of reading assignments, but only 2 essays combined with other smaller writings. Her expectations were always clear and concise, so follow the rules and you will be fine. It's probably the easiest Gordon Rule class I have taken thus far.

I took her online class this summer, very easy to understand. There's reading, but hey it is a Comp 2 class! Overall, so long as you read, the tests aren't hard and participate in the discussions, which aren't very hard and there was 2 papers total... not bad for a Gordon Rule class!

Best comp teacher ever. Took her for comp 2 as well. She is so much fun and so entertaining. I never really did like writing but she makes it loveable. Easy tests and quizzes. You dont really have to study much. Pay attention and take really good notes.

I took her for Eng Comp II Online. Very easy, she gives you clear instructions for the class. She gives 2 essays and 3 discussions on the selected reading. Not very hard, available to answer questions and tests are online.

Ms. Simmons has literally been my favorite professor of any class I've taken! She makes comp fun and easy. She gives you handouts that outline exactly what you need to do to get an A. There is absolutely ZERO guess work in this class! She combines lectures with classwork and activities. I HIGHLY recommend you take her for comp 1 AND 2.

The online class I took was not an easy A, but I am confident someone not trying could get a B. I really liked her teaching style and have a new appreciation for English Comp.

I am half way through Ms. Simmons class and overall the class isn't too hard. She does expect you to actually do work but she will walk you through every step and is very helpful. She is very easy to comprehend and gives attendance as extra credit... So show up! I'm mid way through and that's after the big research paper and I have an A.

She is a decent teacher. She is a bit of a perfectionist and hard grader but over all nice. She answers your emails in a timely manner and not much work for an online course. I would recommend her to anyone that is not very interested in taking ENC courses.

The class was easy! At the end we made a resume and learned about professional interviews which I liked. The assignments were interactive. She's very nice too. Powerpoints and the class can be kinda corny but the teaching style was fun. Plus no texbook whoo! No complaints.

There is a lot of "busy work" due every week but I only presume that is b/c it was an online class. It's all extremely easy though. &She's really strict on grammar, & takes off 2 points for every incorrect comma usage. It wasn't a hard class, but I'm not particularly crazy about it either.

Tough Grader on essays, but overall an easy "A" Responds quickly to emails and assignment grades are posted within the week. I enjoyed taking her online course and would recommend her to anyone needing to take English.

This is such an easy class. The essay prompts aren't difficult at all and she has a passion for English. The class does get boring at times and there were a lot of in class writing assignments. Your writing skills will definitely improve after her class. Overall not a hard class at all.

Prof. Simmons is very strict!! I do all my work on time never missed an assignment weekly by the way! on essays if you don't do the essays exactly how she states she drops you without considering if your dropped you have to pay Valencia back for that class! she has no consideration that some students are parents, working, or full time student

I was determined to get a an A on our first essay considering I am a English major I was prepared & had a rough draft, essay and I went to the writing center had 2 sessions with them I brought printed instructions Prof S. had posted and I got a B BARELY!! I really don't like Communication classes. Unfortunately, it is mandatory. I took ENC1101 online with Professor Simmons and I loved it. She made it simple and still interistering. Not much homework, just the necesssary. We did use any textbook. Just keep up with the online readings and apply the rules you learned into your essays. I liked her so much I am currently taking ENC1102 with her and I wish I could take other classes as well.

This was easier than the English classes I took in high school. She gave extremely simple essay topics and I got an A on every one. Basically good grammar gets you an A. If you want a challenge in writing do not take her. I enjoyed the class because I showed up to all of them, but if you miss a class you might miss an assignment you cannot make up.

Honestly Professor Simmons has been one of my favorites so far. If you don't learn anything in this class, that's really on you. All the assignments are clear and so far I have enjoyed all the readings we were assigned. We have one assignment per week, usually a quiz of some sort. This class is as hard and as easy as you make it for yourself.

Awesome professor ! I would take all of my English Composition classes with her if I could. She is a tough grader though, so be on your A game, literally.

She is a sweet nice lady who cares about her students. However, if you want to get an A in the class work for it! That means be on your A game at all times. Grammar is what matter a lot on your papers. Otherwise, I would recommend her. The class is not that hard, she makes it interesting. Attendance is 25 bonus points if you are there every day.

She is a little sassy. Her assignments are clearly outlined in the instructions on her website. We had 3, 1000 word essays and a few quizzes which were easy. She reset my quiz when it timed out on me. We have two weeks to write an essay, usually based on personal experiences. Follow the grading rubic and you'll do good. i took her for ENC1101 and 2

I took Professor Simmons for ENC 1101 & 1102 and I love her! I didn't care for writing before but it was so interesting in this class. She's so funny and extra credit is offered. The assigned readings are interesting as well. If I could take her for more classes I would. She's a great professor and I highly recommend you take her!

Prof. Simmons is always clear on exactly what she wants in your papers and gives guidance to help you write better. She assigns reading homework almost every class, but they are easy and usually only took me 5 mins. Be prepared to use twitter in her class, as that is a big chunk of your grade. If you do the work and follow directions, its an easy A

Prof. Simmons is a great professor. She is very clear as to what she wants and gives good feedback on essays. There are lots of articles and stories to read throughout the semester. Most of her test are based on these articles/stories. However, if you do the work, youll be fine.

Prof. Simmons is very clear and specific about what she wants from her students. Make sure to always be paying attention in class, and try to not to miss. This is definitely a work-heavy course, but as long as you are following her directions you will pass. There are 1000 possible points and you need 900 if you would like to receive an A.

I heard many bad things about college English but she's amazing. She doesn't grade entire paper on grammar only a selected section that you select. Quizzes are quite easy if you read what she assigns. Definitely taking her class next semester.

Very tough grader, especially when it comes to grammar. I received low A's for most of papers, which I wasn't completely used to. She doesn't interact on a respectively personal level with her students, but she is kind. But you need to store up on a lot of ink, because she makes you print mad heavy. Her lectures are very good and are funny.

She expects a decent amount from her students, definitely tougher than high school. But she is very clear about what she expects and is there to help you if you need. Has long office hours and responds to emails quickly. Her feedback on essays are short. But if you ask her for more details she'll give them. Taking ENC1102 with her in the fall term!

I took Professor Simmons' ENC1102 online course over the summer. Not sure why everyone is saying she's such a tough grader and tough with feedback. This was the easiest English class I've ever taken. 2 essays and some discussions. Ended the course with a 102%. Literally just do what she says and you'll get an A. Everything was always in the blog.

Theres 3 reading sets, each with a quiz, Two essays (1000 word), and a few other quizzes. Read the readings before the quizzes. The first and final assignments are just emails. Be careful about grammar though. She assigns everything on a separate website and has you submit on canvas. Her feedback is really helpful. Just follow instructions.

Shes amazing. I was unsure at the beginning of the semester but she is a really good professor. She gets back to you. And she really wants you to pass.

She makes lectures interesting! She was also clear about grading and rubrics. I would take her again if I could. A lot of writing but they were short but then they were put together for the final paper so make sure you fix them beforehand.

Lots of extra credit opportunities, the material/articles that the class revolves around are very interesting and the essay topics were broad and fun to write. She grades fairly quick and gives lots of great feedback! As long as you do all the reading, itll be super chill!

As someone who has never had a problem with English classes in the past, she is a great teacher. I faintly pay attention during lectures and just write my essay at home based off of the very detailed rubrics. She is very good with helping beginners or people who are struggling. Very lenient on due dates and understanding with attendance.

My experience only with Mrs. Simmons was amazing. She is extremely clear in what she wants, offers tons of extra credit, and gives a lot of leeways when turning in assignments/essays late.

Professor Simmons was my professor for ENC1101 and ENC1102. She was the most amazing English prof. All she wants is for her students to succeed. She may be a "tough grader" but you have to WANT to put in the effort for her class! I did enc1101 online spring 2021 and 1102 in person fall 2021. Because of her, I'm minoring in medical research :)

I'm not even good in English and I'm still managing to pass. There's no reason to fail this class when EVERYTHING is in the Course Blog. The most you will lose points for is grammar on essays other than that pretty straightforward class. I will be taking her again for ENC1102. W professor 10/10 definitely recommend.

You can tell that she cares. Feels like a lot of work, but that is expected of a comp class. I would suggest her if you enjoy writing about interesting topics, reading thought-provoking readings, and love extra credit!

I've done both the in person and online classes, and both are worth it. It's like 1 essay and an easy reading quiz every other week. Lots of extra credit and low amount of assignments. She's also super sweet and always willing to look over your papers with good advice. If I can take her for a third year, I will.

Professor Simmons was a good professor but, beware of her nitpicky grading. She gave good feedback explaining what was wrong but gave room for no error. A missing comma is enough to take you down a few points. Overall, I enjoyed the essays in this course, not work-heavy at all.

Dual-enrollment student. Only one assignment per week. Assignment may be: a quiz, essay, or essay draft. She's an objective grader. Extra credit does not give huge boost to your grade, it will not save you. For the first few assignments, I learned her style. If you don't slack, give yourself time, and put in the work, passing is possible.
