he has problem with english grammar
Robin is great...he makes statistics understandable and gives lots and lots of notes so you don't have to read anything in the text. All his exam questions are from quizes and homework assignments....makes it easy to study
very unclear, notes are easy, exams are so hard, unprepared lecture, always late and let u go early,he;pfulless, dont expect to have a higher grade than B.he seems cant understand english, all he does in class is repeating the text book, useless, avoid him
Very poor quality of teaching. His exam questions are not derived from his notes nor the text book. His exam are way too difficult.
if this teacher is not a good teacher, there will not be good teacher around the world!!!!!!!!
this is a hard course, his examples are easy so to let us understand the basic concepts needed to answer Q in the exam. many ppl dont study since they thought it is open book, but as he said, study as it is close book! he is clear and helpful.
cheat sheet made it possible to pass, not very personable, hard to understand information, Thankfully no longer required for Marketing diploma.
He focuses on explanation more than on calculation. It is true that his notes are not completed and clear, but his exams are easier than any other Stat instructors. If you study, there will be no problem for you to pass this course with a B.
not bad, his notes are clear and easy to follow and its what he bases his exams on (if you go into the text for a little more depth youll do quite well). he can get boring b/c hes repetitive, but id rather be bored than confused...hes also helpful if you dont understand something
Susanto is a sweety! He really tries to make u understand stats. He is funny and approchable and doesnt mind getting bugged with questions. He makes stats bearable and will give u many chances to boost up ur mark with projects. He lets u write quizzes in pairs! Great teacher
The worst math teacher I ever had. Not well prepare for any notes and very poor quality of teaching. Exam and weekly quiz are not derived from his notes nor the text book and it's way too difficult and theory. I felt I'm taking stat instead of just math.
my GPA sucks coz' of this instructor
totally understanding if you talk to him during his office hours and will definetly help you out. he can be a bit repetitive, but hes a good prof...id definetly say hes one of the best stats profs at Langara. also, if you ask him for help preparing for the final he gives AWESOME review qs
he is way more better than Micheal Lo.
He is sooooo sweet!!! very clear, the exams can be a bit difficult, but i like him~
He's nice, he tries to give u every mark that is possible. His teaching is very clear and helpful.Maybe his classes are kind of tedious, but that's the way stats is about. isn't it ? His exams ar not that easy, beware.
GREAT PROF, very very clear, very nice and has a well developed lesson plan. make sure to know your theory really really well and you'll do well in the exams. Exams are consistent and projects are easy marks if you put in the time.
Great guy, gave me and my friend a review lecture before the exam last year because we had so many questions. Will try his best to help if you need it. Best stat prof at Langara. Don't know bout math.
Very good professor! His explainations are very clearly, and if you take notes carefully, it will be very helpful in the exam. Not hard to get an "A"
most clear teacher i've ever had!!!!!! fabulous notes, knows exactly what he teaches,DOESN'T EVEN LOOK AT TEXTBOOKS and write clear notes on board
he's very clear and tests are easy. stats is boring but he's not. amazing thing is, he never needs any notes to teach, but remembers every word of the content and examples. very patient when answering questions
His notes are very clear, and overall he is an excellent teacher. His midterms are pretty easy but he is such a picky marker! An A would easily turn into an A- or B+. He is very very picky about how you word your answers, and won't hesitate to take points off. As a result our class is suffering a 60% average, and there are only about 1 or 2 A's.
Excellent teacher. Breaks down difficult concepts with easy to understand analogies. He also prepared note packages so we didn't have to buy the text. Pay attention and ask questions in class to do well.
Good teacher. Explains things pretty well.
-very patient with students, extremely boring and dull at times, exams and quizes are very easy and straight forward
worth it to attend all classes.teaches very well.gives good studying advice.is very patient with students, very calm and collected and gives good notes.no need to take notes in his class...just attend and pay attention.if you dont ask questions then he will ask you questions
I'll start with the course. The material is very easy, however, he's strict on his marking. He will deduct marks if specific words aren't used/mentioned, so getting an A/A+ is no easy task. In regards to his lectures, he's a very good instructor, and his online notes supplement his lectures very well. Though not the easiest, I still recommend him.
Good teacher. His assignments are challenging (worths 5% though), midterms are easier than the asgns. -_-|| He will use either 15% for your quizzes and 40% for your midterms, or 55% for your midterms (whichever will give you a better mark). Notes are pretty good, be sure to have them by attending classes.
For Stats 3223 with Robin DO NOT buy the text - you'll never use it if you come to class and print the notes he posts online, waste of money! He is clear and patient, a bit boring, but it could be the subject matter. He tells u exactly what to know, come to class, try to pay attention and you should do fine.
Very clear, concise and straight forward lectures. He makes sure you fully comprehend the material before moving on. Midterm and final quite simple, based on problems solved during class.
explains everything clearly, a little harsh on marking. Could too sarcastic sometimes, making rude jokes about students, but as for teaching part - he's very good. Textbook wasn't used at all. He gives the quizes without notification, so always be ready.
Wow. Not impressed. I don't understand how he has been teaching at Langara so long. He turns the simplest concept into a huge abstract conundrum that he will spend all class attempting to explain. Our first (pop)quiz had absolutely NOTHING to do with his lectures. He also talks slow and makes many mistakes on the board.
Apathetic
Horrible. Just plain horrible
He's pretty hard and teaches straight from the textbook.. although his tests aren't really based on the textbook. He makes a lot of mistakes on the board. Overall he's not bad but I wouldn't take another class with him again.
Makes a lot of mistakes on the board, so if you aren't able to do your own work and just copy him, you could be screwed. He explains things very well. Makes sure everyone is on the same page in terms of ability. He will explain things you should already know at the slightest hint that some people are rusty in math.
His Quizes had nothing to do with what we were learning. He got everything straight from the book. He taught the simplest questions in class but the tests had such hard questions on it.
really good teacher dont need textbook at all.
We don't use textbook at all, and his notes are very helpful. He marks slow and he doesn't reply emails, but he teaches sooo well that I will recommend you to take this prof. I hope I can take another course with him.
I took his stats 1181, his notes and lecture were super clear . the exam are not easy, but very reasonable . if you read his notes and attend his class+doing assignments, you don't really need to study much at home. I got an A with least study time of 4 classes. I am now taking stats 2225 with another prof. OMG OMG I just miss Susanto A LOT!
Fair exams; marking is fair, but strict, in that he doesn't give half marks for close answers. His notes and lectures are helpful, but I would have preferred that he show more difficult questions on the board. He is extremely clear and concise in his lectures. Quizzes were extremely helpful.
Good teacher. Sometimes seems a bit unclear with his material, as he might take a minute to think of examples, but otherwise his lessons are fairly easy to understand. Fair but difficult marker, seems to be fairly nice guy. Has an accent but is easily understandable.
AWFUL TEACHER! He does not help and is not sympathetic for his students. He should not be allowed to teach, he acts as if he wants his students to get poor marks.
Very slow at explaining topics in class. Tests are very short and requires specific very specific wording in order to receive full marks. Often the quizes are nothing like the examples we did in class
He is an amazing prof! He takes the time to make sure everyone understands each topic before moving on. He is a picky marker, requiring specific wording, but it's simple stuff and easy marks. Would definitely take another course with him
No… Just no. Quizzes are not like his examples in class. Picky marker. Avoid him at all costs. I do not recommend him. Not willing to help others as he expects you to "learn it in class" when his lessons are not that good. He has difficulties with his english/ grammar
His notes are clear but not very helpful when it comes to asking questions
Hard marker and RIDICULOUS FINAL EXAM. Avoid Robin Susanto AT ALL COST!
If you need to take statistics 1124 and get at least a c+, I totally recommend him. His notes are up in D2L . Very easy to understand the material. You dont need to buy the textbook. He is willing to help you out. He speaks clearly and his handwriting is clear. So far so good.
May come off as cold, but is just extremely sarcastic and has a very specific type of humour. Midterms are short, but the questions are much easier than the practice questions he gives you on D2L. It's important to understand statistics as a whole than to memorize how to answer specific questions in this class, it'll help a lot!
Good teacher!
He has a complicated ways of explaining simple things such as exponents. His questions were not clear, and confusing.
DO NOT take Susanto!!! his notes are all over the place & uses complicated examples. you can't even refer to the textbook cause his notes doesn't correspond with the content of the chapter. his quiz & exam ques. are different from the chapter questions in the textbook. he gives you an incentive to buy the textbook but it's pretty much useless
Confusing
Robin is confusing and disorganized, especially during his lectures as his notes don't clearly teach you how to do them. He talks throughout the whole class and sometimes doesn't give you breaks, so you have to go out by yourself. There's quite a bit homework and he gives pop quizzes. Wouldn't recommend for weak math students.
If you need at least a C+ in stats I recommend Robin! Group quizzes, homework and project. Very few quizzes, super easy. Easy marker for final project as well. Midterms are okay if you know your stuff. His hand writing is super clear and covers exactly what you need to know. He doesn't respond to emails so if you need help you have to go to him.
Exceptional prof. Textbook is not necessary because his notes are so good. Listen in class and you won't have to study much at home. Exams are easy if you've been paying attention.
I took Stats 1124 for the 2 times with 2 different profs. Robin was much helpful. This course may not be easy for some people, but Robin's notes will make you at least get C+ if you follow him. His lectures are long but stay with him. Make sure you do exercises in the book and in his notes. Those are very helpful for his midterms and final.
the best teacher i ever had in college.. his quizzes and homeworks are not lengthy and he lets u to do in pairs.. textbook is not necessary at all.. his notes are very helpful and has solved and unsolved exercises in it which are very helpful.. he teaches on the board very well. i never wrote comment for any teacher but he is the best and i got A
Great prof for stats! I would recommend to students who have no background in stats. He explains the concepts clearly by breaking them down into 5 simple steps. His quizzes and exams are based on the exercises on D2L. Textbook is completely useless. You just look at his notes. Overall, awesome prof! Beware he does give pop quizzes.
Robin teaches really well, however his tests are really hard :/
Robin is an amazing teacher. He actually teaches, makes sure the students understand the concept. He is bad with e-mails, so try to get all the answers in person. Expect pop quizzes. Midterms are ok. Final is super long so make sure u practice a lot on your own to feel comfortable with any testing.
The content of the course I found was a bit challenging, but he explains it pretty clear and gives good examples. He does not give exact dates of when quizzes are, but will tell you there will be a quiz some time next week. Allows us to do quizzes and assignment in pairs which is nice.
Robin's a nice guy and is very patient. He teaches okay but his notes are so disorganized. He gives a lot of homework and the occasional pop quiz. His tests are hard because he likes to put a "twist" on them
Robin is very helpful, he gives organized notes and clear explanations, the quizzes can help you prepare for the midterms, and he lets us do some of the quizzes in pairs. The midterms are not too hard, he is also a nice grader, I would definitely recommend him to my friends.
Robin teaches everything you need to know well. The textbook was a free version online that we could use for extra help and practice questions. However, do some extra studying and practice on the topics because he usually gives one quiz a week and sometimes the questions are a bit harder than the practice ones done in class.
STATS2281. Robin is a nice person and ok teacher. Sometimes he fails to explain concepts clearly, so be ready to do a lot of research on your own. There are few homeworks. Quizzes are almost impossible. Pop-quiz may cover stuff you learned 15 mins ago. MTs are doable, no breaks, becomes hell if it is your 3rd class in a day.
Never take his class, it's hard to pass. doesn't explain well, complicated examples, notes are totally different from lectures. if you are unfamiliar to Statistics so never take otherwise you won't pass because he doesn't explain basics. Two midterms and one final so no chances to get marks easily until unless you are excellent in Statistics.
Robin Susanto is a very good teacher and is well respected. His lectures are easy to understand and follow. (if you listen in class) The notes are also well organized. However, projects may be challenging if you don't keep up with your work.
Listen to him in class, read his lecture notes, do lots of exercises in D2L and you'll be fine!
Pros: - thoroughly explains concepts wih examples - has all class notes, exercises (DO THEM!!), test answers on D2L - no attendance but you miss out on explanations - quiz marks are 1.2x up to 120% - no survey project - no textbook Cons: - very long lectures, no break in 2 hrs - somewhat dry lecture, mostly talking - 2 midterm tests 35%, final 40%
Robin is a nice guy, but his lectures are extremely dry with no breaks at all. I honestly could never listen to a full lecture without tuning out, but he posts notes online which helps. His in-class explanations have so many gaps in them so you really do need to refer to the uploaded notes. He throws pop quizzes at you so often you want to scream.
All his notes and exercises are on d2l so you don't need to buy the textbook. Attendance is not mandatory, but he explains the notes so you should attend the lectures. Not everything is explained in lectures so remember to read the notes on d2l. Susanto is a great teacher, and I never had trouble understanding a concept thanks to him.
Robin is an amazing prof. His lectures both in class and online are very organized and clear. He explains everything in the class accurately, so it's better to attend the classes. His exams are straightforward but he is not an easy grader. Attend the classes and read the notes and you will be fine.
Robin's lectures are thorough and well-organized with theory and examples, but they are long with no breaks. The online math platform glitches and the textbook is too advanced. Even with right answers you can lose marks for 'wrong' methods. That said, final was easy. He cares about students. I recommend him if you are taking math as a refresher.
he is such a tough grader. doesn't care at all about his students or if they need help. you cannot reach him outside office hours because he never replies to emails! NOT ONCE! exams are completely different than in-class stuff in difficulty like the level of difficulty just sky rockets!! took his class because of some good reviews here BIG MISTAKE
This class is pretty straightforward. Attending class is helpful because he simplifies the notes that are posted online and he posts exercises to do for extra practice. Tests are easy, just understand the notes.
He gives detailed lectures and notes that are comprehensible enough to get an easy A. I recommend doing the exercises but he quickly adjusts the bar if the class is struggling and would give easy quizzes and tests to boost everyone's marks. He goes over the topics slowly and answers every question during lectures which is why there are no breaks.
Lectures are 2 hours long, kinda boring but overall I found his class pretty chill and easy, quizzes on every subject but most of them were pretty damn easy imo. Chill dude, hard to reach outside of class though (in online at least), idk I slacked off so I didn't do well but at the beginning when I was on my grind I was getting easy 90s to 100s.
His class is a "flipped classroom" so make sure you read the notes ahead of time to understand what he says in class. Get ready to teach the course to yourself, if you're lucky expect him to take a week to reply to your email - that's if he answers. Quizzes are tough for time and midterms are even worse with poor wording too.
Lectures are unclear. His tests have poor wording and time is tight. He's also not accommodating and impossible to reach. I had health issues mid-term and he would not let me reschedule my exam (even with Drs note). Overall awful experience, definitely would not recommend.
Lectures are unclear. His tests are worded poorly and tight on time. He is also not accommodating and impossible to reach. I had health issues mid-term and he would not let me reschedule (even with Drs note). Overall awful experience and I definitely wouldn't recommend his class.
Read his notes before attending lecture bc it will help!! In my opinion the notes were detailed and his lectures simplified it so we could understand it. He emphasizes important info/topics so pay attention in class. Wording of his quizzes get tricky but you will get used to it. Understand concepts rather than just memorizing them word for word.
He legit just reads off the textbook from the start of class to the end, so be prepared to sit and listen to him lecture. Expect to teach yourself though because if you reach out for help, you probably won't get a reply. Avoid him if you can.
His organized notes make online classes a breeze. His grading system is tipped in our favour. The workload can be heavy and the homework gets hard, but his buddy system makes sure you don't fail alone (jk). People complain about not having breaks, but he teaches at an easygoing pace, so burnouts are rare. Overall, a godsend to stats.
Pace is too slow, ends up not covering all bases. Only teaches 75% of the material and takes exams on the 25% he doesn't go over. Sets you up for failure by tricking you. Covers it up as "mistakes in the notes." BE SURE to ask questions on EVERYTHING that doesn't make sense because he's probably being sneaky.
He is a nice person, but he has no office hours and he doesn't record his lectures. His exams are not easy and usually completely different from his practice exercises or what he thought in class. He doesn't give you enough notice for quizzes and homeworks. Try to avoid, but if you can't get ready to self teach yourself this course.
Overall he is okay. He is good at explaining concepts and lecturing, and is overall a fair marker. However, he is very disorganized, rarely responds to emails, and does not record his lecture videos. He seems like a friendly guys, but seems to have a lack of passion and care for his craft/students.
Very nice teacher. His lectures are long and maybe a tad slow, but he goes over the subjects quite well. I enjoyed learning from him.
Honestly I feel like he could have taught our class in a better way and would be more interactive. I feel that our classes were rushed and were not touched on a lot and we would just be expected to figure it out on our own.
Grade is based on quizzes, midterms/final, and a couple projects. If you pay attention in class and do some of the homework questions, youll most likely get a good grade. Lectures are dry, may dose off because he tends to teach at a low pace. However, he explains the concepts thoroughly and is open to questions. Allows cheat sheets on all tests
He's an okay prof overall. I started off the class by receiving a few bad grades from quizzes, which only had to do with my study habits. But overtime you'll see the adjusting you have to do to get an A in the class. The course needs lots and lots of practice. Use all of the practice questions he provides in Brightspace! It definitely helps for MTs
Robin is very old school and likes to write on the board which makes the class very slow-paced making it very easy to get stats. He posts many pdfs of the lecture and also posts practice problems enough for you to get 100%. He allows cheat sheets in every quiz, midterm and final.
He never explained any concepts properly. He never gave half marks, nor did he care to help. It was difficult to follow along in class too. Take it with a grain of salt, if you enjoy teaching yourself, then he is the professor for you.
Two weeks after the final still haven't received a grade. During the final exam I asked for time, but was told will announce it when he feels like it. He wasn't helpful at all even you went to his office hours, brushed off questions and did not explain. He does not care about his students. Also the materials he teaches are not enough to cover exams.
I grew very fond of Robin as he knows all the material from the top of his head. he is an old-school teacher that writes on the board, but it helps you understand the material at a slow and easy pace. midterms are easy if you study the calculations and know the interpretations. Robin is an excellent teacher as he offers ways to boost your grade.
Nice guy. The course takes quite a bit of effort; there are many quizzes and quite a hefty load of homework. Robin uses a whiteboard to teach, posts no lecture videos, and takes 2-5 business days to respond to emails, so unless you're a good self-learner, don't miss any classes.
Statistics can be a difficult concept, but Prof. Susanto explains it in a way that's easy to grasp. I love that he writes his notes on the whiteboard, as you can follow along with your own notes and take time to ask questions (which he will go over in detail). generous cheat sheets for all tests. Be sure to study on your own time, or you won't pass
Robin is a good prof and his lectures were full of good information. His homework can be tough but make sure to find a good group to work with. Practice alot because that will help you in tests. Quizzes are a good chance to improve your grade. If you're taking for nursing make sure to take another prof. Overall, work hard because hard to get A.
I would say he is not bad overall. Lectures are heavy and quite disorganized, so you will need to focus on every single second during the lectures. He usually writes down formulas first and explanation followed later. For this term, he gives us chance to pair up for every quizzes and homework, find someone good at the course.
Robin Susanto is the GOAT for stats profs. This is a difficult and heavy course regardless but Robin teaches it exactly how he tests on it. There's no tricks, no gimmicks, he's not trying to fool you. Ask questions in class, participate and go to his office hrs. He's more than fare when it comes to marking and is always open for questions in class.
stats is a hard class but taking it with robin felt so easy. he asks the simplest questions and even on the midterms it's the exact same format of questions he'd ask on the quizzes. plus he lets you do quizzes with partners + cheat sheets!! never spent more than an hour a day studying and got an A
Robins class felt very bland and unproductive to say the least. you genuinely don't need to attend classes as long as you read handouts because the class is 99% based on that. Quiz content is really hard to guess but the cheat sheets were kind of useful(?)
An OK prof. His lectures always felt rushed and it always seemed like he dosen't want to be there LOL. He has good detailed notes on brightspace so attendance isn't mandatory. Cheat sheet is vey helpful tho.
ALL THOUGH THE MATERIAL IS POSTED ON BRIGHSPACE BUT ATTENDING THE CLASSES HELPED ME ALOT ! HE EXPLAINS THE MATERIAL IN AN UNDERSTANDABLE WAY. QUIZES AND MIDTERMS ARE NOT DIFFICULT AT ALL ! ALL IN ALL HAPPY I HAD THE COURSE WITH HIM . BUT YOU NEED TO STUDY YOURSEFL AND ASK HIM QUESTIONS
Easily the funniest prof I've had so far, Robin's style of teaching was very engaging. The same question formats on homework assignments, the course project, quizzes, midterms, and the final exam. You get multiple cheat sheets throughout the semester and those were life saving. Honestly don't need to do much studying if you understand the material.
great professor, he is one of the few professors that act like regular human beings.
ngl was kinda boring at the beginning of sem but became one of my fav profs ever. if ur planning to go into nursing, TAKE THIS MAN. material is presented in such an easy way. quizzes & homework can be taken in groups & ur given 2-3 cheat sheets on exams. so easy to get a good grade. lowk has kinda dry humour but is such a chill prof! love him fr
not a big fan of math, but had to take stats because of nursing. taking robin was definitely the best option. dont skip lectures, listening to him explain the chapters helped me a lot. he's very visual and gives lots of examples to explain the material well. all hw and some quizzes can be done in partners. for me he made stats interesting #thegoat
One of my favorite profs so far! He's very receptive to questions so make sure to ask if you don't understand something, especially if you need the grade for Nursing. Lectures were very clear and informative. Attend every lecture, pay attention during class, and do the practice questions and you'll be fine!
He's a good professor. All of the material is posted but attend the lectures and take your own notes because he describes them in an easier way to understand. Do the practice questions until you can't get them wrong anymore and you'll be prepared. He's a hard marker so be careful with quiz (sometimes online) and homework questions. Exams are fair.
Horrible teacher please do not take this class if you need extra support, as he is very poor providing it. He is not sympathetic with is students and seems like he is just there to get paid.
Heard great things about Robin from others, but I struggled a lot in his class. Was quick to erase the notes off his board and would mention unrelated topics regularly.
Robin is very knowledgeable about stats, and you'll learn a lot. This class is fast paced. If you don't practice material outside class, it's likely you won't do well. His homework is straightforward only once you get the hang of R. Study hard for quizzes (score is multiplied by 1.2), and take advantage of the cheat sheets allowed!
his lectures basically repeat whatevers on the notes; skipping class has little consequences. his tests r pretty easy and are pretty similar to the practice questions, so js spam those & ull be good. quizzes r basically open book bc theyre online lol.
All of his lectures were just copying the notes he wrote on the board. He wasn't very helpful our good at explaining the material in class, I would usually have to learn or teach myself the material. Pretty strict with midterm/quiz rules (can't miss any quizzes or you get a 0, if you miss a midterm, he'll add it onto the next midterm/final.
teacher is pretty chill. he doesn't take attendance or do participation marks. he let's you do the in-person quizzes and homework in pairs. if you don't understand how to use R, go to the math centre for help. he let's u have a cheat sheet for exams. I lowkey hate math but this class was bearable. 10/10 recommend him.
As an individual who is not math inclined, Robin made the course enjoyable. He's a chill, funny guy. Attend and pay attention in class, do the learning objectives and the practices provided on D2L until you're confident with the material. It tremendously helped with all exams. Do study outside of class and stay on top of your work! Concepts connect
His lectures sometimes long and boring but very well taught and easy to understand. Ends class early. He post all the course material on bright space. His exams are VERY similar to the practice and practice exams. The course is pretty quiz heavy but robin allows u to pair up for all in class quizzes and hw. Overall he's a pretty up chill guy. 10/10
All material is on Brightspace and practice exams are similar to actual exams. Make sure to attend lectures as Robin simplifies the content and makes it easier to understand when compared to the notes. However, lectures can be boring but he ends class early. Practice the content and make use of cheat sheets. Put in the effort, and you will do well.
