I love this lady. I looked forward to her class all week. Very enthusiastic.
i enjoy going to every class, absolutely love her as a teacher
this prof is amazing. she has inspired me.
I want her as my friend! And she is very pretty!
If she weren't a professor, she'd be an amazing comedian!
3 things, loves trading spaces, Boboli (dog) & Gil. And man I'm Hot for teacher!
She is a great teacher...very funny!! I'm tempted to minor in Phil. now!

Class not improv....Lose the dog!

the best instructor, very open and easy to talk to & I love her classes
love the classes & sense of humour..can't wait for phil 231

Nice enough but clearly has favourites in class that are guaranteed great marks
Very funny and intelligent, but gets carried away with stories . . . OFTEN!
Robin you are a first rate instructor
A very egalitarian woman - a very good choice for a feminism teacher.

wonderful prof, lots of energy, love the dog
EVIL. This is Hard to explain and it goes agianst norm, but EVIL, Trust me
She makes class enjoyable, very intelligent, always willing to talk to students
1st year students should take this teacher! Very down to earth
Difficult marker, assignments are difficult but the class is fun
robin is a nice woman but this course was not as fabulous as it could have been
Robin chooses favorites and if you're not one of them, don't expect to do well
She can be a hard marker, but she does recognize the hard working students.
not paying for her to talk about the dog

Awesome teacher helpful is you need it. Really nothing to the course and she relates it to actual life. Wonderful.
It doesn't get better than this.
a very nice woman, but hard to get A from her. Still learn sth.
This instructor has a bizarre and discouraging marking system. She appears to have little or no objective criteria for the assignment marks she gives. She is entertaining, but the course lacks substance and clear guidelines.
shes funny but does have favorites and when i earn a B it shouldnt get scaled to a C+ because the favorites got too many A's
Do your homework and ask for help if you're lost. This is not a prof that will let you coast your way to a BA. Favourites? She favoured those who actually read the material and knew what was happening in class.
I found her marking inconsistant between my own assignments and also between the assignments of other students. She does have the tendency to go off on wild tangents but if your personality matches with hers then you'll probably enjoy the lectures.
Robin was a fun and cool teacher, but her marking system was very difficult. It would be better if we just had normal essays and tests. The marks were not properly divided in the end, and my grade was scaled down a HUGE 6%, plummeting 2 letter grades.
The last 8 baby comments are filled with bitterness. if any of you new how to write it would not be impossible to get an A. you just have to stop begining your sentences with But and ending all of your sentences with? as Chris Farley said "I don't know, that and a nickle will get you jack sqwat
Brilliant woman who encourages independent thought & initiative from her students. The more you put into thsi class, the more you will get out!
i think some few instructors in hte****ty school should be like him.
Has favorties and it doesnt matter what you do, she will give you the mark that she has decided you will get. Quality of work plays no role. Very unfair, unproffessional, and lacking the skills of a university proffessor. And to add to her complete failure as a teacher, she will talk about herself and her problems for HOURS and waste class time.
She will fail you if you don't go to class to listen to her talk about her dog for hours on end. Yea a beagle named bagle.. HOW MANY TIMES CAN THAT BE FUNNY?!

one of my fav profs, very professional.
Great professor, interesting topics, great discussion. Would definitely take other classes with her.
Robin Tapley is fun, interesting and a little crazy. I find her an awesome professor, and I'm very interested in taking more classes with Robin. I highly sugget Robin.
Who gives 100 MC questions in 55 minitues? Thats crazy, i mean it would be ok if the material was the kind you could memorize, but this is philosophy and you have to analyze the sentences. Theres not even enough time to reread the questions. Damn dog, I learned more about you than philosophy
The class can be quite interesting at times, but the quizzes are a joke. Like the other person said..."100 MC questions in 55 minutes!"..that is insane. And yes we do learn a lot about her dog. It is just a dog!!! Come on already
All I can say is tht i will never take a philosophy course again thanks to robin!
I think Robin is an amazingly interesting professor. She is fun, generally happy, and makes the class interesting.
Robin is a little nuts but I liked her. She knows her stuff.
Robin was an amazingly interesting teacher! She made coming to class an adventure. I'd definitely take another class with Robin, as long as she doesn't make us do another 100 question quiz in 50 minutes.
Robin was hilarious! She is a self-proclaimed feminist and treats her male students accordingly. If you are interested in her dog, take one of her classes. Very funny, but very off topic.
She's great. Very funny, very pretty/sophisticated. I want to be her friend. As a person, she's fantastic, but as a teacher...eehh. her lectures are fun, but she really gets off topic and doesnt end up explaining much very well. Great shoes/accessories. Overall, good shopping buddy, bad person to be teaching you. Dedicated to her students success.

Excellent prof!
She is the ABSOLUTE BEST teacher I have ever come across in my post-secondary education :D
absolutely fantastic
Great Prof! Makes phil a lot easier. Follow her pattern in class then you'll get a high mark.
oh my hocky lover...the class is not easy and her lecture is a bit hard to catch the point but yes she's absolutely willing to help!
Talks down to nursing students - poor response to individual questions she disagrees with - lacks professionalism

Robin is a hoot. While in this particular class I found her tendency to go off on tangents a little annoying, I still found the material interesting and her lectures informative. Her points get lost sometimes but if you can get past that, read the material and write well constructed essays. You're okay. Also, incredibly helpful if you get lost.
Wow, there was absolutely no substance to her class. She's probably the worst person to be a philosopher. She never actually explains anything. It's disappointing. We need strong women in this field and she is just so off the mark. NEVER TAKE HER CLASS if you want to learn something, but since she just hands out "A"s, then you might as well.
Robin Tapely...hmm....not much to say besides that she seems more concerned with being the center of attention and a comedian than ACTUALLY teaching the course. Her "freak outs" are un-called for and totally unacceptable
Goes off on tangents, does not teach the topic. Is more interested in her dog than she is about the course. Implements the "learning curve" and doesnt mark papers thoroughly, just a quick peak and she puts you on the "learning curve".
PHIL-111 is a complete waste of time no matter what teacher you have. I found Robin to be a funny teacher and if you attended her class on a regular basis, you did not have to study for her tests because they were incredibly easy. If you are prepared to learn more about her dog than philosophy and are searching for an easy A, take her class.
Although she can get a bit off topic, Great teacher! Always willing to help you when ever you have a problem!
Very entertaining but goes off topic way too easily. Still, she seems to have an understanding of what she is teaching.
Total moron. Doesn't mark according to how well you do marks according to a "scale" if you did well and others did just as well but were marked first too bad for you. Total waste of time and money to take a course from this person. She shows up late every class and leaves early. Don't take a class with her. And she is so NOT funny!!!!!! Or fun.
Made the class interesting, but a very hard marker. You can go to her for a "preread" and she'll tell you how good what you did is, make a few suggestions, and then when you follow them you still get a**** mark. Impossible to get an A. This was my elective and it was by far my lowest grade.
Not an easy marker. Not a great professor. She draws blanks way too often and loses focus on her teaching far too easily. Found the class really, really boring. But she isn't a bad person...she does have morals (ha!) and you can talk to her outside of class with better results. I won't take a class from her again but she's O.K. I guess.
You either love her or you really don't like her. Not for me that's for sure.
Robin Tapley is absolutley amazing! She's hilarious which makes every class enjoyable to go to. Explains all material well, and if you are not understanding materal she will go out of her way to make sure you do. Personable and over all an awesome professor!
Robin is such a great prof! She is always helpful and you really learn a lot of valuable real-life stuff. She does get off topic from time to time, but you can tell it's to make the class pay attention when students are drifting away. She has a method to her madness:) If you are at TRU, don't miss out on taking one of her classes!
Her course was hard for me, at least in part because it was my first phil class and was at an advanced level. however, I dont think I've ever learned so much from a single class and she really makes you think. Also, she's personalble and thoroughly enjoyable.
Funny teacher.Classes better than watching tv. she makes learning fun. classes are easy, just attend, and youll get an excellent mark!
robin is a very good teacher when shes on topic but is consistently about 10 min late and once she gets there spends another 10 talking about her botox or playing with the alarm on her phone. If you dont understand something she says she will make sure you understand before moving on. overall good teacher.
Got off topic every once in a while, but it was usually somewhat to the conversation. Even though I was a first year in a second year class with people who knew way more than me, I wasn't afraid to ask questions. She made sure we understood before moving on.
Amaaaazing professor. I loooved this class so much and if I had room in my course schedule I would take philosophy with Robin every year. She is very nice and has a really great sense of humor and makes the class really fun. The final exam was very easy but the midterm assignments were a little harder. Great class discussions. Super awesome course.
She is such an amazing teacher! Before that class I didn't really know what Phil was, but she made me love it! Very funny, and her quizzes and assignments are very straight forward. Easy to achieve a good mark.
Hardly a fourth year class. Philosophy of Sex and Love has potential to be a profoundly interesting topic, she could not do it justice. Very binary thinking, always late for class, shallow assignments and discussions. She didn't appear to have given any critical thought to the subject. Really do not recommend her class, unprofessional and dull.
She's awesome! She explains everything well and uses lots of examples. She also makes sure that everyone understands before moving on and welcomes discussion.
LOVE LOVE LOVE HER!!!
Robin Tapley was a great prof in general. She was passionat eabout her subject and made the classes interesting. However, she would often go off topic and start telling us the details of her private life (sometimes intimate details).
Robin is a great professor. I Loved philosophy because of her. Was an easy course and I would definitely take again. Smart prof. Welling to help. And gives good marks! What's more?!
Funny lady, but gets distracted easily. She made the course really enjoyable though, always making the class laugh.
Robin is amazing and I highly recommend her class! I have never taken Phil before but she definitely explains everything very well. She explains things very clearly and helps you understand the tough concepts. If you don't go to class you will not pass because the textbook won't help you at all. Also she is hilarious and so fun!!
She is hands down my favorite prof EVER. She's hilarious and so knowledgeable. She made me fall in love with Philosophy. Phil itself can be confusing, but she does an amazing job explaining things and is always always there if you need any extra helpexplanation. I always look forward to her classes! Taken atleast one every semester of my uni time.
She's a nice lady and she knows her stuff, but she often gets distracted and gets off topic for a long time. Her class is fairly easy, but its pretty important to attend the lectures. Her feedback on assignments is always super vague too. Doesn't really tell you what you did wrong or how to improve.
This could have been a great class, but Robin only seems to want to her her opinion restated by students. Response to assignments was 'you're wrong' but didn't say why. Always critical of anyone who disagrees with her. Shares TOO many personal stories.
Honestly, Robin was my favourite part of the semester. She is funny and makes lectures interesting. You should attend lectures in case a question on a quiz comes up from lecture, but it isn't absolutely mandatory. Even the textbook isn't mandatory. I missed several classes and just read my notes and passed with an A+.
Well... she definitely has personality. Her classes are never dull - that's for sure. Only complaint is that marks come from true/false tests when there's usually multiple answers to the question. The readings were super difficult to understand for a first year course (got more than a few headaches), but I still managed to pass with an A-
Robin is phenomenal! Her lectures had me pondering life and laughing hysterically all at once. The readings were very interesting (especially if you have an interest in philosophy) and not too long. Tests are easyT or F questions. She makes herself available outside of class to answer questions. All around a great professor and lovely lady!
Robin is super awesome. Whether you've taken Philosophy before or not, she makes all concepts easy to understand. When getting assignments back, she can be a bit vague on feedback BUT just ask her and she's more than willing to meet outside of class to explain. She has me inspired and really thinking and dying of laughter all at once. Must take!!
Wonderful prof! Robin conducts her classrooms like she's a talkshow host. She's hilarious and witty, and recognizes when material is boring or dry. She has always been helpful outside of class, and is responsive to emails. If you build a good relationship with her, you're golden.
She's very eye opening, and ready to debate!
You can not go wrong with Robin as your Prof. She is very funny, and also has all her lectures on moodle. Testing was very straight-forward and fair. You don't have to attend class to pass but i suggest attending anyway because she is so entertaining
Robin is absolutely hilarious and makes a boring class quite fun. True or false quizzes for each unit, which are easy if you attend class and listen. Reading the textbook is not necessary. All of her lecture materials are on moodle which is nice.
Robin is a great lecturer and has the ability to make any class fun and engaging however her marking scheme is unclear and she reiterates the same point - quite rudely- without guiding you and helping you understand what she is actually looking for...
Robin made it super easy to understand the different philosophers and her everyday examples make things even easier to understand. Her lecture notes are really good and always on moodle, so it's easy to bring the notes to class and not miss out on the stuff she's saying. She's hilarious, fair and amazing. Her tests are all T/F and pretty typical.
Has high expectations, attendance/textbook not mandatory but definitely recommended. I love Robin and she has been a total highlight of my semester, one of the best lecturer's I have ever had, and always willing to help you out if you ask for it.
More a preacher than a Philosopher, though i like her pol*. Poor application of Aristotelian courage in philosophy (pursuing ideas uncomfortable or disagreed with for sake of Philo-Sophia). Complicit and contributing to the very thing she seems against via angry outbursts, censoring. Easy 'A' if explicate her position. Show up,agree, smile and nod.
Tapley has amazing subject matter to teach, but she botches it with her own subjectivity and agenda. Basically you have to parrot what she thinks if you want a good grade, and the more eloquent you rewrite her lecture, the better you'll do. She also doesn't hide making fun of students for how they look or dress, which is really unethical.
Robin Is a great Professor. She cares deeply about her students and any questions or confusions should be taken to her. Robin also is very open to class discussion and encourages exactly what Philosophy is about, the study of ideas. I would recommend her to anybody.
Talks the whole class, she is very biased and only speaks about her opinions but the class is easy, she gives a lot of extra time on quizzes and journals that arent even hard to begin with
Robin is an amazing teacher. She is very caring about her students, if you have an concerns about the class just ask her, she’ll help anyway she can. She talks about her personal life in class, but it makes her more relatable and approachable. She wants the class to be more than just shoving you information, she wants it to be a good experience.
Kind, smart, and understanding professor. She just gets distracted a lot, talks about her personal life at length, and is not very organized with the syllabus or due dates. Great detailed feedback on assignments. Interesting and funny. Very good, engaging prof when she is present and instructing, just very distractable and it can get frustrating.
Grades for assignments were not given until almost the end of the semester, which makes it difficult to know how you are doing in the class. Takes her 2 months to mark 1 page papers which can become extremely frustrating. Easy class, but lectures are pointless and she isn't the easiest person to deal with.
She is a nice person and it's easy to get a good grade on her course. She gives minimal feedback and it takes her forever to grade papers and quizzes. I didn't enjoy her teaching style. She rambles often about her personal life and is cracking jokes. Which isn't necessarily bad but she didn't really make me appreciate the subject of philosophy.
She makes assignments very unclear and will grade you badly even when you've followed all directions. I generally get A's in all my classes but haven't gotten above 74% for an assignment, she grades very tough. She also rambles on about her personal life and husband so much that we're like 3 weeks behind in readings. Get ready for a hard course.
Robin is by far the worst prof I have ever had. She never stays on topic and constantly talks about her personal life, she often ends class early since we have "covered a lot" when we have covered nothing. She has had more online lectures than in person. Her assignments have hardly any instructions with no rubric and no clear feed back.
Robin is a difficult prof to rate. She's very kind and helpful. Recently she's had less in person classes than usual do to sickness and a bad hip which is understandable. She only gives a few assignments a semester which is really nice, however, she will grade your assignments very tough. She's not afraid to give you a B with no marks against you.
If you want to take a class for a free credit or a GPA booster DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, there's absolutely no way to get a good grade in this class. Quizzes make up for 60% of your grade and each quiz is True or false. This may sound good but there is absolutely no way to study for each quiz, you have to guess on each and every quiz in this class.
This class was very enjoyable. Proff was very enthusatist, and made her excpeteations of you very clear.
Very Kind and enthusiastic, expectations were clear and accommodating
Funny, but hated the class. No clear grading criteria, argumentative. Concerned more with social justice than the actual philosophical theory. Tries to one-up you in conversations, tears you down when you have questions. Very disorganized. Journal Assignments are atrocious. Got a good grade but she was very difficult to work with.
Robin is very sweet and funny, but I wouldn't recommend the course to anyone actually interested in philosophy. There are no tests or exams, just quizzes and journals, and the journals are marked harshly. She is very unorganized, and most classes were virtual due to an injury. I like her as a person but wouldn't recommend taking her course.
Funny. Nice Lady. Fun lectures. Assignments are weighted INSANELY high, and she does not teach the material well. I'm an A+ level student and I can never get above a B+ in her classes. Her feedback is brutal too. She seems disorganized. Half the lectures are online. Never any consistency in my marks. Fun classes, but at what cost? Good luck!
I enjoyed Robin as a person but not as a professor. She is funny but gets off track and has very dry lectures. There's no exams only true or false quizzes and journals. The journals are graded weirdly… Do not take this class if you actually want to learn philosophy. If it's just an easy elective then go for it.
Robin's class can be challenging, but engaging lectures and unstuck study make it manageable. Grading is tough, so stay on top of assignments and readings. Overall, a rewarding philosophy class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Her classes are packed with students looking for easy grades. If you know what she wants, it's simple. If you want to learn philosophy, don't bother. Lectures are unorganized and lacking, while the grading is harsh and strict. In the end, we only had two assignments of 500 words graded, each worth 50% of the final mark! Such a joke.
Robin is very good at what she does. She is a very smart woman with a lot of knowledge in Philosophy. Sometimes I think she gets in her own way and can certainly show some biases in class. When she talks, you listen, but sometimes she goes off on tangents and it makes it hard to follow. Overall, brilliant woman.
I enjoyed Robins class, very easy to do well (I put very little effort in and did well). Grades are based off of journals and short T/F quizzes. She dropped our lowest quiz grade and the 3rd journal was optional. We had half of our lectures online due to her knee issues, and she doesn't believe in finals so its a very low stress class.
Most unorganized class I have ever taken. Grades you based off her opinion not the class material. Goes off topic constantly and yaps about her personal life. She is clearly trying to be funny and relatable but isn't. Truly a waste of $500 and my time. The textbook is something she put together, it is literally just other books photocopied.
50% talking about her personal life, 50% poorly teaching philosophy. She somehow made metaphysics boring. I stopped attending lecture halfway through the course. My entire grade was composed of four very short assignments (roughly three questions per assignment). She also makes you buy her homemade textbook that you will never need. Waste of time.
