I really enjoyed this class. You are a great teacher! Thank you very much
Whatever you do don't take her for lab during summer semesters
Great teacher but it can be a hard subject. Take her if you really want to learn something but it'll take some work.
If You have to take micro do not take it in the summer, but take willoughby if you can. I had to drive from Stuart to Vero for a night class for her, but she is a great teacher. Very energetic about the subject and gives plenty of information for the reviews. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!
Very hard tests, know your definitions and the pics in the book.
Good teacher but hard quizzes
Quizzes = Bad.
Very enthusiastic, explains very thoroughly.
I think Bio is a challenging subject no matter who you take, but she IS helpful in lab. She's nice & happy to answer questions & to help out students. Recommended. :0)
Very good teacher. Helpful and clear. :)
this teacher is very good. She trys hard to make sure you understand. She is clear and is the best bio teacher i have had.
very clear when speaking, very easy to understand and very helpful, no problem answering questions
her test can be very difficult, i do not reccomened this instructor for biology
VERY helpful! exams r easy as long as u read the chapters and study her power points. has mucho resources online to help u. her exams cover only basic points and have easy straightforwad questons. read the book and then read her notes and ull get an easy A on the exams!
The most amazing professor at IRCC. She has an unmatched enthusiasm that makes even the students without interest excited about science.
GREAT!! HARD CLASS AND LOTS OF INFO TO LEARN BUT SHE IS HELPFULL AND KIND. U CAN TELL SHE LOVES WHAT SHE DOES AND KNOWS HER STUFF! I AM TAKING HER AGIAN!
This class was definitely a challenge. It's not impossible or extremely difficult, but it is hard enough to make you push yourself. She was helpful. I hated the online quizzes we had to do, though.
She wasn't what I expected, barely has time to help you with any problems, goes through information quickly, tests are specific, but overall nice personality
She was an incredible teacher plus she had a great attitude. Very professional and made sure we understood what we were studying. You can tell she loves what she is teaching and thaT will always show through student grades. I would recommend her to ANYONE!!
bad teacher
Worst teach every! Never available-always has to run somewhere else and only wants you to email her. Gives you a study guide, then tests on stuff not there and doesnt test on what is! Classes are faster paced than all the others and do not go along w/ lab. Tests are more chapters than other teachers(up to 5 per test) TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!
This class was online. If your're not prepared to study every minute, do not take the online class. She had a study guide for every test which is helpful in studying. She keeps the site upadated on how much you need to pass the class, she also responds promptly to messages. For the final she gave a good review. She wants u to succeed
I took this teacher for an internet class.Although I was not in the class room she communicated with you promptly through web-ct and met with you for any questions. Her internet presentation was clear but lots of studying. I like her personality and she was interested in the student's success
I took her lab class which was interesting. She is clear about the objective of the course. Very helpful and give each person her attention. Exams where straight forward if you spent the time to study. Filling out the lab manual exercises make exams easier.
She is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I enjoyed her class. As long as you show up to class everyday and study hard and take good notes, you will pass. A tape recorder is a must. The only thing that was rough is that there were no extra credit oppertunities..other than that she was great.
Best teacher ever!!!!!! very sweet, very helpful! I am currently in her class right now> She goes over everything in her class, everything you need to study is on the slides. Never makes any question seem stupid. Just wish she taught bio 2!!
worst teacher ever. exams are extremely difficult and impossible to pass. i study about 40 hours per test and still fail.
good but very HARD!!!!!!!!
Good class! She was clear in her lecture and well prepared. I would recommend her.
Great teacher..i took her for bio online and as long as you study you will get the grade you deserve...she responds to her emails right away and everything in the syllabus is very clearly written.. i got a B+
amazing teacher... biotechnology is deff her nitch.... i understood her throughly and she gives you exactly what will be on the test to study!
No guidance
I took her bio class online over the summer and certainly don't recommend this to anyone! It was hard! She is looking for more than just memorization, she expects you to understand a concept inside and out.
Took this class online in the summer. COMPLETELY agree with previous review: hard class to begin with, even more so on-line. Know the material on the study guide and be able to use it for tests. She does drop lowest test grade which is a big help! Got a "C", and definately worked hard for it!
she is a good teacher and very helpful, has a passion for the subject. but you will work for you grade and you must study.
I took this class online for summer II. It was extremely hard. But she gives open book quiz's for each chapter. Which makes ur avenge go up. With failing ALL the exams and getting 100's on all the quiz's i passed with a C.
She is a great teacher, very compassionate! Yes, it is hard work, it is biology. But she is willing to help you out when needed and uses great analogies when teaching! She gives frequent tests which helps so you dont overload with too much info on a test.
Took it online. It definitely wasn't easy. MUST know the topics inside and out to pass. Drops the lowest test grade. Overall, she was fairly uninvolved in the class unless you have a test issue or something. If you aren't self-motivated and don't want to read the book, steer clear. Pulled off an A, but studied for days..
I took this class online-quite hard. Work sheets and power points were unrelated to the test questions and not very helpful on tests. Mid through the class I switched to notes from other prof. Final review was exactly from test questions and very helpful. I would not take her again online but maybe in class. She has your understanding as a goal.
Although the MATERIAL is difficult, she was crystal clear and expects you to know exactly what she covered. Would highly recommend her for Bio!
Goes too fast at the beginning of the class, but helpful during experiments. Tests were too tricky, and her "study guides", >>>>>phoey......not at all helpful.
Hard teacher....but nice....
not helpful. doesnt answer emails. doesnt give good study guides. WORST teached I have ever had
If you're going into the Life Sciences it's hard to find a better professor than Dr. Willoughby. She's excited about what she teaches, tells you EXACTLY what topics will be on the exams (and sample questions), and is VERY good at giving easy to understand examples about seemingly complex topics. Take her if you like Bio! Also had her for BSC1421
Extremely HARD!! I took class online summer 1 .Worked my butt off and just got by with a C. There are no reviews for exams and the questions are so in depth and not at all what you studied for. Do not advise
Amazing teacher, She really knows how to teach! Very enthusiastic and gives great analogies!I EXTREMELY recommend her!
Summer classes are generally more difficult due to everything being squeezed into 6 weeks. This class was no excepyion but she truly does care about your success. Exams were difficult but if you read the book, study, and look at the slides you will pass. Excellent professor!!! I actually retained what I learned. Looking forward to the lab. :)
Dr. Willoughby was an excellent teacher. She put things in a way you could relate to and understand. I highly reccomend her. I am taking another one of her classes, biotechnology online and she's still wonderful and helpful and always answers emails and wants you to excell. She knows her stuff and will explain things how you need them explained
She is a kind lady who only wants you to succeed. She will help anyone with anything they need. Biology is a difficult course but I don't think there is anyone who can teach it better or with as much passion as she does. I would reccomend her to anyone.
Took her online for a summer course, she gave us a study guide that had nothing to do with the exams! I read the chapters throughly and understood what I was reading but the way she words the questions on the exam is rediculus!! Also on top of all that she didn't send out ONE email the entire course. Do NOT take unless you have to!
This teacher isn't too bad. She isn't very interactive but will respond to your e-mails quickly. I took her over the summer in an online course and did fine with just reviewing the stuff she posted to act as a companion to the reading. I recommend her online course only if you work well without much guidance. Tough class in general.
She gives great lectures and does crazy things to help you understand them and only tries to help you pass the class. Her website gives you everything you need to know and requires you to study daily as for the test hard but study everything and you should be fine plus she is really open to questions and e-mails and very sweet.WORK HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is very nice and helpful as well as enthusiastic. The 7 exams she gives are difficult, but the final is easy. It is not an easy A.
This class was a hell of a lot harder than I thought it would be. She moves fast, and gives a lot of tests. Very hard. She really makes you learn though. I ended with a B but it was probably the hardest class I've taken. She really is great though, will bend over backwards to help you. I recommend taking her if you want to learn. I've learned a lot
She is a GREAT professor, really knows her stuff. She gives 7 tests instead of 4 which helps you get a better grade. Doesn't give any study guides but she provides you with worksheets online that are very help. I did the worksheets, read the chapter overview and did the chapter quizzes from the book the day of the tests and it was very helpful.
Dr. Willoughby is a simply marvelous teacher. Passionate about her subject, she will answer any question no matter how silly it seems (and she won't make it seem silly). You MUST MUST study, because this is NOT a freebee class. I read the chapters. Do the worksheets, definitely. I didn't do them for the first half of the semester but they help!
Dr. Willoughby loves Biology and cares that her students do well. However, listen to her - follow her instructions - do the course objectives that she gives at te begining and you will ace the exams (or at least get a B)! Taking her in class rather than online is highly preferred!
Online Session- received a "B". GOOD news: Answers emails promptly. Very helpful if you ask! Syllabus and course layout very organized with numerous resources and study guides. EVERYTHING you need to succeed. BAD news: No communication from her at all unless you ask. I wouldn't take online again but I WOULD take her again in the classroom setting.
Dr. Willoughby is straight forward and lets you know what to study for unit exams based on her outlines. She is very helpful and gives you everything you need to succeed in her class, you just have to listen to her. Lecture is a little boring but she is a wonderful, caring professor.
I am not very good at biology and I got a C in the class. I found it really hard and I got a D on almost every test. She is a good teacher and tries to make the class interesting but it doesn't really work. She is very nice and will do what she can to help you.
DO NOT TAKE DURING SUMMER! I understand it is a summer course but I don't understand how you would even fit the work she requires into a normal semester! If you have a question she will write back but her answers to questions are very vague. This class is beyond a beginning bio class, the question she asks of you can't even be found within the book
I do not recommend Willoughby. Quizzes are hard and exams are impossible. Received a C after studying night and day.
Dr Willoughby is inviting, animated, enthusiastic, and provides good visualization. She doesn't show off her intelligence in a conceded manner, though its obvious she is very intelligent by the simplicity in which she teaches. I took BSC2010 for Summer, therefore expected it to be time consuming and difficult. This is COLLEGE, yes you have to work
Fantastic. Honest, straight forward and helpful. Lots of extra study material and well done online class. Highly recomended, but it is information heavy and a tough class.
This course was incredibly frustrating. I took 5 classes and passed the other 4 with A's and B's, however, I found this class impossible. The tests do not match the course content so unless you are a scientific genius, you cannot study hard enough to pass. I stressed myself out over this class to the point of nearly breaking. Stick to a lecture.
This class is VERY hard to take online. I wouldn't recommend it. I was studying for hours upon hours daily while taking 5 classes. If you study, the final is pretty easy, tests 5,6 really aren't anything like the book, super hard. She's a very sweet woman though, and you can tell she cares about her students and really wants you to succeed.
There was so much material to cover. This online class is no walk in the park. You have to prepared to do the work, independently. Overall, I enjoyed the material.
First off you can not ever get a hold of her. Secondly I read the book used her study guide, and used the online course for study material as well and yet nothing from the course matches her exams. Worse class I ever took. If I could give a zero I would.
Seriously, You need to be VERY CAREFUL if you choose to take this course online. You better be on top of you game because this genetics online is NO JOKE!!!!! You need to read the book, slides, and repeat daily! Questions come from the smallest things in the units. And you take 7 unit exams at your own pace. DON'T GET BEHIND!! YOU WILL BE LOST!
I DO NOT advise anyone to take her online class or her summer class the work load is impossible no matter how long how much I studied I couldn't get a handle on her class. Passed all my other classes even passed Biology Lab go figure !
Dr. Willoughby is not helpful at all! I took this course as a dual enrollment student online and her tests are extremely difficult. I'd find myself studying her power points, making my own notes from the book, and asking other professors for help. The tests had nothing on them from the notes. I STRONGLY do not recommend her.
I took her during the summer. It was really tough, however, she is a wonderful teacher. She is very helpful, breaks difficult concepts down, and really seems to care if you are doing well in the course. I found it very help to do the worksheets online and listen to the recorded lectures. The test are concept -like question. SO KNOW UR STUFF!
Still taking her class, I barely passed the first exam, there is only 2 exams, then the final exam. KNOW YOUR STUFF!!! She is helpful when you need help, she takes forever to explain what we were doing in lab that day, you NEVER leave the lab before when it is supposed to be over. When she tells you whats on the exam, it is very broad-not helpful!
Great professor. I take it one night a week 5:30-8, lectures are long, but not boring, at any time you can ask a question & she will help you to understand. She RECORDS her lectures & puts them online very helpful. Her exams are TOUGH, you need to just make time to study. Drops lowest grade, 6 exams+ a final. Easy HW that really helps grades.
A lot of reading, even more studying, A LOT to learn and she expects you to know ALL of it, no exceptions, no excuses, she does grab questions out of the chapter reviews, they may be reworded. But if you study correctly and have good test taking skills your going to make a good grade. At the very least read the slides and do the chapter reviews.
This was a hard class. Very knowledgeable teacher but isnt very good at passing the information off to you. Tests were very tricky.
This class was really hard and you have to study on your own and do all of the homework to pass. I found her lectures really boring. She reads right from the screen. I definitely would avoid this teacher again because she puts me right to sleep.
shes very clear in what she teaches and gets involved with her students. super easy and clear study guides. also gives extra credit here and there to help boost your grade. would take again if i had to for sure.
I'm taking Genetics online. I already have a BS degree, and I have never seen a professor expect you to read a text book cover to cover and know ALL the material. Test questions range from conceptual to trivial details. Don't take this class, there are better professors that have more realistic expectations elsewhere. I like the material, thats it.
I made the mistake of taking biology online, and Dr. Willoughby tried her best to make it a good experience. She replied promptly to emails, and even offered a question-to-question review for the final at the end. They grading breakdown made it almost impossible to fail. I ended with a B despite completely failing two exams.
She's a delightful teacher that was constantly available to offer assistance. She made a Facebook page to reach out to us and offer extra points through trivia. She continuously emailed, messaged, and reminded us of all material that needed to be known; Offered various "chats" throughout the semester. Her review before the final was wonderful, too!
I've taken Dr. Willoughby for general biology and microbiology. She is extremely passionate about what she teaches & will walk you through each step of the way. Tests given every other week are easier than long tests given by other professors. Study the power point slides for tests and you will be golden. Is very fair with grading. Great teacher!
This was my second online class and it was a little tough. It wasn't as hard as I thought it could have been but the teacher stayed involved and was always ready to answer questions.
Summer5 weeks-6exams-each exam 3 chapters-each ch 30-50 fill in the blank questions on worksheets-two part final exam with NO Review just a list of about 200 topics that will be covered on the test referred to as "tips" which you to know the 4W's for each "tip" and fully understand the "concept". Tests are ridiculous.60 hrs aweek! NO EXAGGERATION
Great teacher ! Yes you have tons of test but study the power points she gives and you will pass . She's really helpful her test are based off the study guides not exactly alike but similar. I took for summer 2 and believe me I was scared but ended with a good grade!
Online class. I felt disconnected from the teacher. Have to compete on Facebook for bonus point & only one person the first and fastest to reply correctly earns the point. I read the book, followed online lecture which was filling in homework sheets , but had to look up youtube videos to help understand the material. Nice but don't recommend onlin
She was a great professor. The key to passing this class is studying the comprehension questions throughout the chapters and at the end and you will be golden. I wish I had realized at the beginning of the course. I mean she told us that, but I, of course, didn't listen.
great teacher she helps you with all she can she is amazing. her class is easy if you study. come on you can't expect to pass a class without knowing nothing.! she's great at teaching.
Dr. Willoughby is truly passionate about her job and knows what she's talking about. Print out the worksheets provided and study those and show up to class and pay attention you'll do just fine!
Worksheets are basically the test. Just watch the videos where she gives you the answers to the worksheets to study, trust me.
WORST!!! Don't take her. Had trouble submitting worksheets by her directions, even went to asc lab for help. After taken exam you don't get correct answers unless you make appointment at main campus, I took her online. Her communication back to you is slow. Her class is difficult.
She's a very kind woman, but I struggled with this class. She has worksheets for each chapter from 1-15,20, and 21- Each set of worksheets have 30 to 50 questions. There is no extra credit offered and it seemed like no amount of studying helped. Although, her class is difficult, she will try to reach out and answer any questions. don't do online
Took her General Biology 1 online class. Study all day for the tests and still dont pass them or barely pass them. Really hard to find a good technique to study for her exams...
This lady saved my grade. I was on the edge and about to fail her class when she had a meeting with me to go over what I was doing wrong and helped me find ways to do better. There are tons of worksheets that have to get done in such a short period of time. You will spend a lot of time working and studying for this class be prepared.
Very nice lady. She really cares about students. If you struggle in this class ask her to meet and go over what you are having a tough time with. This class was not easy but one key thing that helps is her videos on black board. My advice is do it all in the beginning of each module so you can follow along better during lectures.
ABSOLOUTELY HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!!! DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE!!! EVERYTHING HAS TO BE HAND WRITTEN AND UPLOADED AS A 2MB PDF!!! SHE IS HORRIBLE IM TELLING YOU DO NOT TAKE HER SAVE YOURSELF
BEWARE!!! Stay clear of Willoughby, you won't regret it! Does NOT care about students nor their understanding of Biology. Any positive reviews are probably written by her. The worst professor ever! Doles out an abundance of work that amounts to a very small percentage of your grade. Very obscure on what is on exams.
You will read the textbook cover to cover. 5-7 page worksheets per chapter only count for 1% of your grade. 5 exams and a 2 part final are 85% of your grade, and they are very indepth questions with no truly obvious answers. If you're not good at biology coming into this class or not good at guessing answers, stay away. I would not take her again.
prepare to spend a lot of time studying. expects you to know every little detail from chapters because it is a "upper level class". tests are difficult and only 40 Q's usually have random detailed questions that we're never spoken about in class. only teacher for genetics. expects you to "know" the material which is unrealistic for a intro class.
Black board will be your best friend. The best way to study is use the fill in worksheet videos before going to class and following along with the power point. There are also lecture notes online. Studying off of the worksheets. you don't need to show if your grade is good enough. She is sweet but doesn't like talking or phones at all.
Took this class online. She has you print out worksheets, fill them out, and then scan them into pdf format to upload them and turn in. She gives adequate time to complete them but it's 6 chapters at a time and no specific study guides so tests are hard to study for. Test questions are general, not from worksheets so reading the chapters is a must.
Dr. Willoughby makes this class as harder then it has to be. I studied the most I've ever studied for this class and still did mediocre on her exams. This is the only "C" I've ever received in college. She gives you well over a hundred objectives to study for each test and it more stressful then helpful. If you're interested in nursing stay clear.
I took this class online. Yes, it was a lot of work, but she is very clear on what needs to be completed. She gives an option to work ahead. I found her class being very straightforward. She gives worksheets as homework assignments, which are used as study guides. She records ECHO lectures that go over material and all answers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Literally read every word of every page of the textbook and the exams were still intimidating. Homework is the study guide, so ending up with 20-30 pages of "study guide" for each exam, and then 90% of questions aren't even pooled from it. You will spend 6 to 9 hours per week studying for this class, and if you don't then good luck passing.
If you pay attention to her lectures and do her worksheets and actually study the material to understand it, you will get an A for sure. I am going for Nursing and had NO problems with this class. If you don't work hard at it, then your grade reflects as so... just saying :) I think she was straight forward and an amazing teacher.
This was the worst class I have ever taken and there isn't a close second. The only reason I didn't drop this class was because I would've lost my scholarship. I'm begging you not to take this class. You have to print and complete six 50 question worksheets and then copy them as a PDF back onto the computer every month. You've been warned.
Dr. Willoughby makes this class a little more confusing than it should be. Although, she's the best online teacher i've had. She makes video recording of her explaining the content. All the tests are based exactly off of the worksheets.
Took her online. Lots of worksheets but they are so helpful. She offers many resources to help out, including some lecture like videos. The class itself is sort of difficult but study and do your work and youll do fine.
Wonderful professor. Do the worksheets and study every bit of the information and you will pass. The exams require you to know information from the worksheets and the book. If you do not study, you will not pass. I put in at least 72 hours of studying a week. You will work for this grade. Easy exams as long as you study the worksheets.
definitely didn't learn much, but sure was an easy A. Just show up and listen, dont even try to write anything down because she moves so quickly. Then just live and breathe her study area of masteringmicrobiology before a test and they're exact questions from there!!
I had her for Biology 1 online. There are a lot of long worksheets to do, but they are barely worth anything for your grade. She has videos that help you with the answers too. The tests are based on the worksheets, and as long as you study them you will do well. There are 5 tests and a 2-part final. I recommend taking her.
Wonderful professor. Just show up and listen. Don't try to write things down, she goes very fast. Do all the mastering micro homework online, and go to the study area for studying for the exams! Study area will be your best friend. All the questions in there are the exact ones on the exams. She explains things very well, and also has a drop score!
Genetics was a tough course, but I though Dr. Willoughby was very fair and clearly laid out what was required of you. There were a few questions on the exam that seemed "out there" but reading the comprehension questions is super helpful. Used Connect, so make sure you buy it. Have to memorize essay so you can type it at the testing center- weird.
Dr. Willoughby is a very knowledgeable and thorough professor. If you do the worksheets for each chapter and listen to her lectures there should be no problems passing her tests. They are tough but are all things that needed to be known if you're going to major in a science field.
I took Professor Willoughby for Bio I online Spring 2017. Her lectures are great, and she offers many different ways to study: Power Points, worksheets, videos, and recorded lectures. The test are exactly what's on the worksheets, so study them and you'll get an A. I would highly recommend, and hope to be able to take Willoughby in the future.
THERE IS 6 TESTS PLUS A FINAL FOR THIS CLASS, TEST NUMBER 6 IS ON 5 CHAPTERS WHICH IS SO MUCH. EXAMS ARE 25-38 Q'S. SHE ONLY DROPS ONE TEST GRADE. VERY TRICKY, SOME EXAMS WHERE LIKE THE CONCEPT CHECK SOME WEREN'T. HER LAB IS INSANELY HARD, SHE HAS ONLY 3 TESTS NO DROPS IF YOU DO BAD ON THE 1ST YOU WONT GET AN A FOR LAB. TAKE SOME WHERE ELSE !
6 tests and a final. With the hurricane we had a test every week for three weeks. The first test had errors and there were questions we couldn't answer. The class's grade was affected. She just gave us a 5 chapter test a week before the final. online hw but you have to read and do the textbook to get A's. No point in going to lecture. wasteoftime
She's a tough grader. You have to work for your A. Make sure to know all of the worksheets and review the study questions in the back of the book. She is not an easy teacher but she makes sure you learn the material by giving amazing lectures and worksheets on each chapter. I would take her again.
There is a lot to be covered in this class. Read the book. Watch her PowerPoints. Do the worksheet then watch her lecture on the worksheet. Be prepared to study. If you don't put in the work for this class don't expect a good grade.
one of the best! if youre a good student and she knows youre trying your hardest shell do whatever she can to pass you. a hard class with lots of worksheets but if you put in the effort its worth it. must study reveiw questions to pass tests. shes very sweet, caring, and understanding, will be taking for future classes.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! TRANSFER! She teaches 28 chapters in 4 months. I thought this was an INTRO to genetics class. This class is made way harder than it needs to be. She treats it like shes some mastermind in genetics. This stuff will never be used in practice unless you end up researching in an ivory tower at a university nowhere near reality.
Avoid! Transfer and take this class at another college. This teacher is happy that her students get Cs. The tests don't align with lecture and she is so monotonal. Puts you to sleep. This will affect your gpa. I don't know anybody who got an A last semester. If you want to go to medical school don't take this class at IRSC. Only she teaches it here
I took this class with another teacher and there were three test no homework and kecture heacy and monotone. Robin is the opposite. She tells you EXACTLY what to focus on . Gives homework. Helps elininate problem questions. Gives tips. Knows her stuff. Lecture is relevant. She is very smart the class uses mastering microbiology an app i downloaded
Awesome teacher. Her homework consisted of mastering microbiology and discussion boards. She gives test and tells you exactly what to study. She works with you and is very polite. Although the power points may become over whelming, the lectures are very interesting, do not try to take notes in her class. As long as you pay attention that will do.
This class is horrifying, the power points are longer than the chapters in the book. There's too much information to memorize at once. It's impossible to do well in this class! I thought this was going to be an introduction to genetics class!
So, I am seeing a lot of bad review for this course. On day ONE this professor told us the module exams would be based entirely off the comprehension questions. 15% of the grade is based on quizzes online, that you get 100s on no matter what. Study the comprehension questions & you are golden my dears.
Terribly vague and unavailable. Test questions do not reflect the majority of material covered. No feedback given except test grades and then no information on which questions were missed and what was right. Very frustrating. Wish I chose better.
Very time-consuming class, but doable if your willing to work. Most of the grade is based on tests. One test per week and then a final (6 tests + final). Study Ch. review questions and you will do great. The professor was a bit cold when communicating but answers any question you may have. Overall, enjoyed that class and liked the teacher.
Very hard class! If you have are someone that needs to ask questions do not take this class online. No video lectures just powerpoints and book! She gives homework worksheets but gives all the answers so not really helpful at all. Reached out for help and all she said was that the chapter review questions on the back of each chapter help.
There is a 7-8 page worksheet that is very hard for each chapter but does not have anything to do with the assessments. When you reach out for help she answers with review the end of chapter questions! There is an assessment center test for every module and a final. The questions are not from those worksheets! Grade based on assessments.
Dr. Willoughby is passionate about what she teaches. She loves science and sharing her passions with her students. Her tests are taken from the questions in the back of the book. Don't just memorize the answers because she switches the wording up. Read the test slowly and review the book and you are guaranteed to pass.
She's a great prof and really cares about her students. It's a hard class in general but she makes it enjoyable
6 module exams, one is dropped. There are discussion questions and lots of connect assignments. Study the comprehension questions in the back of the book and you are good. The final is nothing like those questions and no one passes it (from people Ive known and who were in my class and other classes).
This teacher is very nice and loves her subject! She doesLOTS of slideshow lectures and LOTS of Connect assignments. Also, she has LOTS of easy tests (hint:comprehension questions). Her final is the hardest part though. It can drop your grade down or push it up.
I took it during Summer A so it was fast paced per usual. Very easy to follow just lots of reading, powerpoint lecture and worksheets. Only graded worksheets, module quizzes and final exam. I would take her again. I would advise others to manage their time really well for her course and seek help if you don't understand something asap.
Professor Willoughby teaches a great Genetics course. I myself wasn't too interested in the subject, but after taking her class I became fascinated. Reading the book isn't fully required but there are actually some good reads in there. Her class is not hard to get an A in if you just do your homework and read some sections in the textbook.
This Teacher isn't hard at all, she just goes over powerpoints and if you read and study the book your fine, other then that she is ok. She does give pop quizzes type of in class work, which is why you have to read or study the assigned book or else you fail those little assignments.
Do NOT take her class online if you are not ready to work and study for an A. Her tests are a cumulative of 5+ units, you must know each unit in depth to get a passing grade on the tests. I only ended up with an A because the last test was taken online, due to the corona virus, and I got As on her worksheets & discussion boards.
She is sweet and is very thorough when teaching. It is a lot of information but it is doable to get an A. Only downside for lab she can be very particular when grading exams. So definitely make sure you study well for the practicals other than that its not a bad class.
Her lectures were basically just her going over the powerpoints which is what our HW packets were based on. Her packets are huge and you have to read the textbook to find a lot of answers. It is a lot easier to pay attention in class and get the answer from her lectures. Her exams were multiple choice and she dropped the lowest score.
Professor Willoughby is great teacher. You have to complete module worksheets around every two weeks. At first you have lectures that cover literally what is on the packet. However, later she would not post that and you will need to listen to lectures and read the book to find the answers. Be prepared to work for the grade you want!
As long as you study the chapters you will be fine. This is a straight forward biology class.
Crams online classes
This class was graded mainly by labster simulations and multiple lab packets. The packets were ones that would normally be used while completing the lab, which since online we weren't doing. There was never enough information on the packets to complete them so I always missed things. I would message her and she wouldn't respond till after due date
Take anybody else, and you might have a sliver of sanity left by next semester. 60 question exams in 45 minutes for six exams, 4 hours of assignments for each chapter which you won't finish unless you're doing two chapters a week minimum. Uncompromising with students, doesn't answer messages, blames student's lack of knowledge for rushing exams.
Clear and concise expectations, well structured modules with lecture videos (about an hour, each), and if you do the worksheets, follow the links she recommends, and put in the study-time, you will get the grade to match your effort. Con: she isnt the best at responding to e-mails, and doesnt tell you if your worksheet answers are correct or not.
Shes grate. She gives a lot of homework but she give slides/presentation that has all the answers. Make sure u do all The worksheets and get As on all of them. Study them before each quiz she gives on that particular worksheet and you will be fine. Definitely do all the worksheets and try to get a B or higher on quizzes. Final wasnt as hard as cl
Dr. Willoughby is my favorite professor I've ever had. She responds very quickly through course messages. This was a hybrid course and she had all of her lectures recorded on blackboard. She doesn't care about attendance, so I only showed up to class on exam days. You have to put the time into studying to pass, but she is a generous grader.
I would not recommend Dr. Willoughby for anyone. It sucks that she is the only genetics teacher available which is the only reason I took her. For the online class she does not teach at all. Doesn't record lectures or even post old echo360 recording like some other professors do. She just give the schedule of activities and the rest is up to you.
Literally only had a set of worksheet assignments due once or twice a month. The worksheets go along with the powerpoints, and the exams go along with the worksheets. Sort of a "teach yourself" class, but it's not hard to understand
The worst class I've taken. Final was nothing like the previous exams, which were based on the book, it was difficult. Drops four lowest connect assignments even though you're guaranteed a 100??? Doesn't make any sense and doesn't drop lowest exam. 8 chapters per exam once a month so total of 4 exams including the final.
Worst professor ever. The final for this course was only made to fail students. The final was a 60min 60 q exam, with the last being a research essay question, minimum 3 paragraphs! Not only was this question ridiculous, the other questions were based off the book that we hadn't been tested on through the entire course. Then she ignored my emails.
This was a hard class in general. Hard topics to wrap my head around. Teacher does what she can to give us the information a few different ways. The tests are very hard. They are mainly based off the textbook concept questions. Easy A in relation to the textbook assignments. You automatically get 100% basically. STUDY BEFORE THE TEST!!
Although this class was challenging and time consuming, I really enjoyed it. I feel like I really learned a lot and the resources provided to us were helpful and concise. Very straightforward, but you'll only succeed if you study, learn, and put in the work.
It's refreshing to see someone so enthusiastic about Biology! She communicated ideas clearly, she was enthusiastic about teaching, and she even tried to make the learning experience more comfortable for me when I ran into some personal struggles. It's a lot of work, but if you are able to keep up, she's a cool professor who teaches a great class.
You have a test every other week over 2-3 chapters. The lectures are supposed to help you fill out a worksheet to I suppose help you prepare for the test. You follow along and still get lost on what goes where. She says to prepare for tests using previous quiz questions and questions from the textbook. Test comes- nothing matches up.
He is nice, and understanding. Sometimes gives a few points off for no reason or doesnt give feeback back. But otherwise its not a hard class, I just think it can get confusing at times. He is nice, so take him if you wish.
bad professor, we only did 2 in person labs and got tested heavy on 3 practicals. Her packets are impossible to get an 80 on. I missed 1 question and she took off 30 points which is ridiculous because she doesn't even teach us how to do the packets, your basically on your own, tbh I think she finds enjoyment taking points off on packets. good luck
There was so much. I don't know what to say. She was nice but also unfair. But her tests and quizzes were fine. YOu will do well .
Immunology is impossible with her. Expectations are too high for a 3000 class. It covers A TON of info and she expects you to remember every minuscule detail for the tests (which are all short response, btw.) Required research paper on a topic never reviewed before- nearly impossible. Unprepared for tests and no feedback after the fact. AWFUL.
Dr. Willoughby is great; she is very helpful and accessible. While her class is fast paced and pretty difficult she is very willing to help you better understand the concepts of the course. The quiz and exam questions come straight from the textbook so while they are difficult, if you study well and ask for help when needed you will succeed.
Insane to me how an intro undergrad class has 7 EXAMS. Her questions on tests range from exactly the textbook to the most random things ever. She teaches the class expecting students to know everything word for word from the chapters. The final was unlike any of the previous tests with questions I had never seen. It destroyed my final grade
The class is challenging, with a heavy focus on textbook concepts and difficult exams. However, Unstuckstudy proved helpful for preparing. Engage with the material and you'll learn a lot.
The professor was amazing, the class not so much. It's a lot of information to take in, especially if you are already doing other classes and work. I wish the test were open book or allowed a cheat sheet.
