Great easy teacher for a hard class.
Her exams are fair and the information is drawn from the assignments. The class isn't that difficult. You just have to study and read the book. She's also very helpful during office hours and want her students to succeed in her class.
Robyn Biggs is a great teacher...if you're looking to be taught the most basic concepts then asked to apply these concepts to much more difficult problems on exams. She will go over one thing in the simplest way possible, then expect us to know how to apply that to problems much harder than we were told. This woman has no reason to teach the class.
Biggs is extremely slow with teaching during class but that's exactly what I like about her course. I have enough time to write clear notes. If you give it your effort by visiting her office hours/Action Center then the class is very doable. Biggs is nice about answering questions and is very approachable. First exam was easy. Second was rough.
Professor Biggs is a great teacher, but her exams do not relate very well with the assignments. The assignments are not too hard, then you get to the test and they are much more difficult. I would still recommend her, but if you want to do well in the class you need to spend a lot of time studying.
Difficult material but she was good at explaining it. The weekly assignments are a must if you plan to do well in the class. She is really helpful in office hours and there are "action centers" available as well. This is tough class with hard tests, but if you study the material and practice with the homework you will do fine.
Not very helpful, also expected memorization of many things that could have been explained with simpler patterns. Has an unhealthy obsession with mechanisms; her tests were mostly just drawing them. Not the worst professor but I wouldn't take her again.
Dr. Biggs is an amazing teacher. You can easily tell that she loves to teach and that she really puts in the effort to ensure that students are following along. Although Organic Chemistry is a challenging subject, she gives extremely clear explanations. She teaches you how to solve problems, not memorize reactions. And she's always there to help!
Dr. Biggs is a great teacher. Her tests are free-response, but the questions are clear-cut, and if you have listened to the lectures and understand them, there is no reason why you should not get a good grade. Her lectures are great -- she writes them out during class, which means that you will be able thoroughly take notes. I would take her again.
Professor Biggs is an amazing teacher. She is able to make a difficult class seem very easy. Her tests are free response but all the material that she assigns on her exams come directly from her notes in class. If you study the notes and do the assignments you will do great in her class.
Professor Biggs is an Amazing Ochem professor I HIGHLY recommend taking her class because her quizzes and tests are straight from her notes and Assignments. GO TO ACTION CENTER she is there every week and is really helpful in her office hours also. First test is the easiest and the next two require more studying, quizzes are easy A's if you study.
Dr. Biggs is a great person and professor. She turned one of the hardest courses known to mankind into something that I actually had a lot of fun learning about and understanding. She has office hours, and action centers (GO TO THEM). Her tests are FRQ, but do assignments and takes notes and you'll be fine. Great class. Not easy, but she helps alot
Organic Chemistry with Dr. Biggs is a really good experience. She is a good lecturer and is really good overall professor. She makes it as simple as she can, and helps you along the way. I recommend taking this class because the notes are clear and she's a great teacher. Tests are hard, but do assignments and take notes, and it shouldn't be bad.
Organic Chemistry with Dr. Biggs is really a great class. She excels at taking difficult and abstract concepts and making them understandable to everyone in the class. Her tests should be manageable so long as you do the homework and pay attention in class.
Biggs is one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. She really puts time into each lecture and tries to present the material in ways everyone will understand. The assignments are not for credit and basically are study guides for the quizzes and tests. She also came to action center every week just in case student had questions for her.
Dr. Biggs was very informative and helpful. Her lectures were very clear and detailed. All you need to do to do extremely well in the course is look over the notes and do the worksheets she gives on D2L. She even provides detailed answers so you know how to do everything, and the quizzes and tests match these worksheets almost exactly. Great class!
Dr. Biggs is phenomenal. OChem 2 with her was actually my favorite class of the semester - she makes everything understandable and is super willing to answer questions. The subject is hard, yes, but if you have to take it, do it with her.
If you need OChem, take the course with Dr. Biggs if you can! She is one of the best lecturers on campus. I learned so much in my first semester of OChem with her. She makes it very clear what you will be tested over. As every one else has said, she hand writes all of the notes that you will need in each class. Great class!
If you have to take O-Chem, Biggs is the best. Ive heard horror stories from all the other classes, but Biggs is perfectly reasonable. Its still tough but you can definitely make an A.
Dr. Biggs is simply phenomenal! She's a good teacher, she cares, and her tests are always very straightforward! If you have a chance to take a class with her than do it!
Exam questions were taken directly from lectures. Very clear lecturer and she actually studies how to teach chemistry to students. Awesome teacher. Highly recommend.
She sometimes struggled to explain material to people with no familiarity with the subject. Also, she lectures pretty fast on a hard subject but she refuses to make her lecture slides available online, so not only do you have to write down what she's saying but also everything she writes, so you end up missing some of the info.
I hate Ochem, but Biggs was great. She made the material simple to learn. Definitely the best choice of ochem professor at OU. Most of the test/quiz questions were straight from lecture. And there's 5% built in of extra credit.
despite finishing with a high A, I don't feel like I actually learned anything. It's solely memorization of reaction mechanisms; she did not cover nearly enough topics that should have been covered in an ochem II class. If you want the easy A, then take this class. If you want to actually learn don't take this class.
She has very traditional teaching style. Go to the lecture, take notes, go over the notes after class, and go over her practice problems carefully, you can do very well on her exams and quizzes. Exams and quizzes correlate to lecture notes and practice problems very well. Her lecture notes and solutions for practice problems are very clear.
My favorite class this semester! Her lectures are very clear. She replies immediately to questions and know the material very well. She provides a lot of practice problems that will guarantee you an A if you study them well! Attendance not mandatory, but highly suggested since they are not available online.
She was alright. More memorization than actually learning. Does not space extra credit questions out, can have 5 classes in a row with 0 questions then 1 class with 7 questions. Annoying if you attend the classes where she doesn't do any and then forget your clicker/miss class when she does a lot of questions. Very nice and wants you to do well.
Great professor who cares about making the course material understandable for students. She speaks fast so it can be a bit difficult to keep up especially because her notes should be copied word for word. Read the book & memorize. She's very helpful in answering questions. It's not an easy A for sure but definitely doable with her as the professor.
Dr. Biggs is my favorite professor I've had at OU. She is extremely approachable and since her research is in how to each o chem, she knows what she is doing. Her notes are awesome because she writes them with you instead of using a powerpoint which ensures her pace is with the students. 3 tests, 4 quizzes, and a final. TAKE O CHEM WITH HER!!!!!
Robyn is awesome, she makes ochem really easy to understand. She writes her own notes during class, however goes over a lot of material so going to class is important but not mandatory. If you study the material she provides you will do really well on her tests and quizzes.
The most amazing Organic Chemistry professor I have ever seen. If you ever get a chance to take her please do!! I have over a 100 in the class going into the final and completely comprehend the material. she ROCKS
Biggs is the best professor I have had yet. She makes the material easy to understand and her grading for quizzes and exams isnt too harsh. She write all of her own notes on the online textbook and if you do the extra chapter quizzes she gives you will get 5% bonus in the class. Take this class!
The most easy A there can be for an organic chemistry course. Lots of extra credit, if you show up to lectures ready to learn there is no way to not get an A. She makes the material very clear to understand and even provides the option to purchase an online course designed by herself which nearly mimics the exams.
Very clear and concise lecturer. Provides plenty of examples and practice problems. You will learn the material if you take this class. Tests are very fair and she is great at answering questions outside of class.
I never thought I would say this, but with Dr. Biggs I legitimately felt like ochem was an easy A. She writes the textbook herself, so the reading is just relevant material, and her lectures explicitly outline what you need to know for the exam. As long as you write down everything she puts on the board, it is a breeze.
Dr. Biggs is very good for Organic. You MUST take her if you want to actually learn. All the organic professors suck and none of them compare to Dr. Biggs. If you want an easy A, take her class. Make sure you understand the mechanisms and reactions given to you.
Biggs is amazing, she goes slow and in detail. If you show up to class and actually pay attention to the notes youll end up with at least a B. O Chem is a hard subject but she makes it alot easier by explaining every mechanism and answering all questions.
I really loved Prof. Biggs. She does amazing lectures, and she wrote the e-textbook you use; a very easy read that's well explained, in my opinion. I totally recommend take her for O Chem.
Shes a great professor, its all lectures though. If you cant do lectures as well Id recommend office hours but still go to class. If you just participate in all clickers its a 2% bonus on your entire grade at the end of the semester. The class is structured to help you succeed. But that doesnt mean its not hard. Prof is great
Dr. Biggs is a SAINT. She is easily the best professor I have ever had. She is very thorough in her explanations, definitely knows what she is talking about, and is willing to always help you if you need it. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend taking her class if you have to take O. Chem. 13/10, FANTASTIC teacher.
Dr. Biggs is extremely nice and understanding as a professor The exams and quizzes are very specific to what she wants. An excellent class to fully understand Organic Chemistry and enjoy. In an attempt to keep the class interesting, she relates many of the topics to real life applications. Go to class, do the assignments, and you'll succeed.
Literally one of the most enjoyable professors to take at OU, I would not take anyone else for ochem. Explains everything amazing well and will go step by step. only 8 grades, 4 exams, and 4 quizzes, but the amount of extra credit is crazy. Organic chemistry 2 is hard nonetheless so don't expect it to be an easy A, she makes it possible though
Dr. Biggs is my favorite professor at OU so far. I took a different professor for ORGO I and it was so over-complicated and hard. I switched to Biggs for ORGO II and it's like night and day. Her lectures are awesome, she gives good explanations, and keeps it simple. She offers up to 5% extra credit and her exams are fair. Minimal effort.
One of the best professors in the chemistry department. The material isn't easy, but she explains it well and answers Qs. The textbook is written by her, so all the material is relevant. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is helpful. There was 5% bonus for participation. An A in this class is reachable, but it still requires putting in the effort.
Dr. Biggs is by far the best chemistry professor at OU! She is so kind, caring, and teaches so well! I used to hate chemistry so much, and even changed my major because of it. After her class, I began to love organic chemistry. I never thought I would say that! She handwrites lecture notes during class and has helpful worksheets and action centers.
Offers 5 points of extra credit at end of the semester. Textbook is optional but is interactive and helped me a lot during this course because it was written by her. Her lectures are based off of her textbook and are very concise with only information that you NEED to know. Made Organic Chemistry very easy to understand and learn. Loved her class!
My most accommodating professor in a pandemic. Had a full day to take exams and quizzes, not multiple choice though. Everything she taught seemed to make sense. Using notes on the tests and quizzes got me the A. Really straight forward what was expected. I wouldn't take anyone else but her for ochem 2.
My favorite STEM professor I've had at OU. She handled the switch to online classes amazingly and has been so caring and considerate with how tests are run, and the amount of homework. I was told OChem would be the bane of my existence but she actually makes it pretty easy and fun
Dr. Biggs is literally the best professor I've ever had at OU. She handled the move online perfectly. If you watch her lectures and practice problems, her homework and exams are just like it. Probably the easiest chem class you'll ever take, she makes ochem understandable and enjoyable. I would definitely take her class again!
Professor Biggs has been my favorite chemistry professor because she is incredibly good at explaining things and helped me not just learn to memorize things but to really understand why they are happening. She is always quick to respond with emails and although my class was over Zoom, I had other people tell me about how great the class was.
Amazing professor who genuinely wants her students to learn and succeed. I learned a lot and wish I could take another class with her.
Biggs makes learning o chem fun. Her lectures are super helpful, and she always asks questions that are similar to what she shows in lecture. The exams are usually pretty straight forward, but the final is usually harder. I would suggest going into the final with a good grade. Lab is also pretty easy--no lab reports, just worksheets.
Best professor at OU to take O Chem with, she makes learning this hard subject easy with her lectures and her examples from lectures mirror her exams pretty well. She made learning O Chem fun.
Biggs is the best professor I have had so far. She teaches well to the point where the class carries very little stress yet the students still retain a good amount of material from her. Does not rush lectures, gives extra credit opportunities/bonus questions on exams, models exams to be very similar to her quizzes and problem sets. Very kind/gentle
Makes ochem fun. Her tests are very fair and are always similar to problem sets and quizzes, no unnecessary surprises. Her lectures are very good, and she is always happy to answer questions whenever needed in class or office hours. Many students make an A from her.
Biggs is really good at explaining the concepts. The tests are straight forwards and very similar to the practice sheets. If you need help go to office hours or action center and you will do just fine. I personally though her class was easier than Gen Chem.
Dr. Biggs is easily the best chem professor OU has. Her lectures are interesting (which isnt easy to do with o chem) and she truly cares about her students learning. Her tests are completely fair and she gives you everything you need to do well theres no surprises. Theres extra credit clicker opportunities. Take her if you can!
You will have absolutely every opportunity to get an A in this class. There is extra credit, bonus questions on exams, bonus clicker points, a possible curve at the end. The problem sets are extremely similar to exams, so do them! Also, the final exam is cumulative and NO JOKE, so start studying a week and a half before and you will do well!
Dr. Biggs is an amazing professor however, it was unfair when she gave us exam for 50 minutes when the semester before, had the whole entire day to finish. If you messed up badly on one exam, there is no way you could end with an a. you have to score at least above every 90% in her exams including to finish with an A.
She is a really sweet teacher, not condescending in the least. Very understanding and explains things well, you can and should reach out to her for help outside of class.
Professor Biggs is great at explaining things in lectures and draws the mechanisms out well for this class to understand. My downfall was not doing the problem sets ahead of time and not studying early for the final, so do that because the final is like 30% of your grade.
Professor Biggs is an outstanding teacher, she is very easy to access out of class and is very willing to help you understand concepts in office hours. I highly recommend watching her videos on chapters after classes and doing the problems sets every week.
Take her! She uses an amazing textbook! Easy to read/understand. I struggled so badly w this class last semester & have an A in her class now. Go to action tutoring for help w weekly quizzes. Not hard to get an A on those. She posts problem sets that are very similar to the exams too. Not hard to know what to expect on exams. Best science prof!
Take her for your sequence of Organic, she's really nice and her lectures are probably the best I've experienced so far. Her exams are predictable and easy if you do the problem sets. She tries a lot to help out your grade (the most forgiving weight wise). Although one downside is that during the entire course I had no idea what my real grade was.
An absolute angel. Biggs is literally one of the best. If you are able to put in some effort into practicing and going to tutoring every week, you will do well. She's also helpful in office hours. She is extremely understanding and will do her best to accommodate. Your gpa and grade will save you if you take her.
Biggs is the huge asset to OU. I have seen so many professors who just don't care about teaching. Biggs cares so much about your success, and she put so much hard work into her class. Most organized course I ever seen, everything is clear and predictable. She gives bonus and extra credit throughout the course. Take her and thank me later.
Biggs makes Ochem a cakewalk. The class is structured incredibly well. Weekly quizzes and problem sets are very similar to exams. She is also just great at explaining concepts. I feel like I actually learned material and can apply it as opposed to just memorizing information. Definitely take her if you can!!
Dr. Biggs (Beaulieu) is the best chemistry professor I have ever had. She makes OCHEM understandable and some what enjoyable. She is clear on her grading and provides partial credit. Don't blow off this class, exams are worth pretty much all of your grade. 3rd test and final, are HARD. Be there for clickers and do the meet your prof for 3% boost.
The best science teacher I have had. She writes the notes with you in lecture and provides the material to study for the exams or quizzes. There is no "homework" per se but I recommend doing the problem sets each week. She does not respond to emails much so just go to office hours. Highly recommend for Organic Chemistry.
Loved being in her class for O chem 1 and will be doing O chem 2 with her next semester. I found it helpful if I didn't understand a topic in class to watch her videos that she posts and read her interactive textbook that she wrote. Also do all problem sets start asap and keep up with them they can start to pile toward the end, and you will do fine
Great professor, lectures very easy to understand, gave 10 points of extra credit on each test. Examples were very similar to test problems so go to class (or watch her videos) and do the test sets and you'll be fine.
Biggs is the best o chem professor at OU. She truly cares about her students and wants them to do well. Do the problem sets on time, try the quizzes without your notes, and go back over the problem sets for exams and you will do well. She is always available to help and is such a sweet person. Highly recommend.
Prof. Biggs has been absolutely amazing. She makes Ochem as simple as she can and genuinely wants the best for us. She understands life happens (Grandma passed away) and she is super supportive in every way she can be. Attendance is not mandatory but you do get extra credit for attending the majority of the lectures.
OChem 2 is a difficult class, but Dr. Biggs does a wonderful job teaching it. She is a super kind human being and is very helpful during office hours if you need extra help. She is very fair when it comes to grading and you can request a regrade on quiz and exam questions. This class took a lot of work and effort as is, but Dr. B made it tolerable!
Dr. Biggs is the best O-Chem professor at OU. She truly cares about her students and always wants them to do well. Very accessible outside of class. Do the problem sets on time and re-do them to study for the exams and you will do great. Exams are very similar to problem sets and they always have a bonus. She's the best!
Fifth semester at OU, BEST professor so far. Great lectures, she really cares about her students. Definitely recommend taking her course.
Biggs makes the best of a very difficult class. She is a solid lecturer, with lots of time available outside of class. Doesn't do anything that makes chem harder than it already is, and tries to help students along the way.
Ochem is a notoriously hard class but Mrs. Biggs makes it easy. Lectures are clear, you are given lots of practice problems, and she has plenty of office hours. Tests are very straight forward and similar to the practice problems and homework. I appreciated that there are no trick questions on the test and that she offers a bonus question.
If you want an A in organic chemistry, take Dr. Biggs. She is a decent professor, class is relatively easy. However, I feel like she teaches to the test rather than actually learning the material. She is the best option at OU, but if you want to LEARN the material, read the textbook that she provides on top of the lecture.
Dr. Biggs makes ochem understandable and breaks it into manageable pieces. You get what you put into this class! Yes it's easier, but you learn a lot by doing the practice sets and going to office hours/Action Center as she is super knowledgeable and goes to both. Dr. Biggs is such a caring professor and exams are over content we have been taught.
She is a really kind and understanding professor. I didn't do as well towards the end. I had an A in the class until the final dropped it to a C. The final is weighted by a lot, roughly 40%, so you have to put a lot of time into studying or it will get you. She is accessible outside of class and helps at action centers.
I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Biggs. It is so refreshing to have a professor that wants you to succeed. Her exam are fair, and she gives reviews that are almost identical with detailed explanations of each problem.Ochem is scary, but Dr. Biggs breaks it down into understandable content that is genuinely not hard if you put effort in.
Exams are worth a hefty amount of your grade (a total of 80% of your grade) so definitely study. The weekly quizzes help a lot, so try to do them without using your notes to study the material. Extra 2% bonus for TopHat questions, which was rly nice of her. Overall, the exams were pretty fair, and reviews were practically identical to the questions
Amazing professor. Textbook is not necessary. Exams are similar to TopHat questions done in class as well as weekly take-home quizzes. Easy A if you study the content. She also has videos online that go through all of the course concepts.
LOVE HER! She made Ochem so easy. So kind and explains everything so well. Anyone who has negative things to say about her class probably just didn't show up to class. The best professor I've had at OU so far.
She is great! She wants you to learn and she makes this class as easy as possible. I will say, the final is worth a lot of your grade, so be prepared. Would take her again!
LOVED her. Was terrified of taking ochem, but Biggs makes it easy to understand. She breaks it down into easy pieces to learn. Also she has tons of practice worksheets for us to practice before the test. Worksheets are harder than the test so we are actually prepared for the test. Only problem was that I don't think she uploads her notes in class
Great professor. Exams focused mostly on mechanisms rather than concepts. But she breaks them down nicely during lecture and makes them easier to understand. Has lots of practice questions and exams, USE THEM. The final is a significant portion of the grade.
Angel sent from above. I waited one year for her to come back to take ochem 2 with her. So straightforward. Her videos are also super helpful for missed lectures. Gives great practice worksheets and exam reviews, exactly like the test. Attendendance isnt mandatory but she does daily tophat for extra credit, which gives you a 2% bump at the end.
She's great, I would highly recommend
i love her. thats all. pls take her
Take her!! She is literally the best professor at this university. She is clearly so knowledgable about Ochem and wants her students to succeed. She makes a hard class actually enjoyable. I'm genuinely sad that my time in her class is coming to an end. Professor Biggs, if you somehow see this, thank you for being amazing! I can't recommend enough!
Very good at explaining concepts in a way that is easy to digest and apply.
She is the best! She makes a difficult topic very approachable, and she gives you everything you need to do well in the course. I am so sad that I don't get to take any more classes with her.
