She's awesome! She's a little silly because she is an English nerd, but I think that makes her a better teacher. She is really spunky and fun to be around, and she is always encouraging you to do better. She never makes you feel bad about your writing, and she made me love it when I've always hated writing. High high recommendations!
I love her! She's awesome. there's a lot reading for online discussions, but it's not bad at all. We didn't have any tests or quizzes (that I remember). Just four or five 5-6 page papers for the whole semester. She gives you plenty of time to work on them. I hated writing essays but she made writing papers so easy. Highly recommend her.
She is an amazing woman. I always thought that female teacher are hard to deal with; however, this woman made love writing, and does not look down on writing although she has a PhD in English. Yes, she is awesome. Definitively, I will recommend her to everybody. God bless professor Harris.
Dr. Harris is a great teacher. She honestly made me like writing, when before I used to hate it. She is goofy and hates when people ask questions that she's already answered.
English is never an easy class, but Dr. Harris made it fun and enjoyable semester for everyone. As long as you attend class, keep up with online discussion (for hybrid), and put lots of effort into your assignments, there is no reason to do poorly. I definitely plan to take her again!
If you enjoy writing and a large amount of assignments, then you'll most likely enjoy this class. If you are the opposite, search for another class. Although she IS a nice lady (as others have stated), there's just too much going on at once. Do not recommend with a full schedule.
I took her for English 1102, which is a gen edu class. She teaches this class like it's a 3300 or higher class. Too much reading that was not related to the assignment. She was not very helpful and it seems she only likes to interact with students right out of High School. If you like a lot of work and writing then take her class. other wise run!!
I love Dr. Harris :-)
I hated writing before this class, but now it's not so bad! I had her for 1101 too and she made my writing so much better. She breaks things down and gives great advice! The best professor I have had! GREAT class and I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!
GREAT TEACHER!!! I took the Hybrid and LOVED IT! Posts are mandatory! DO NOT POST LATE! ATTEND CLASS, ON TIME and you will do fine. There is a lot of writing... but it IS a composition class. Stickler for grammer toward end. All writing is related to one subject that YOU choose the in 1st few weeks.
I had Dr. Harris for 1101 and 1102. You will have to do a lot of writing, but she HELPS with it so much! She's an amazing professor that actually wants you to do well. HIGHLY recommend taking her! Make sure you come to class and turn in papers on time--just like any other class. Take her!
amazing world lit teacher! she definately knows what shes talking about and lets you speak open minded and wants to hear your opinion. basically if you write a paper with a good argument explaining yourself thoughouly she will give you good grade. but attendance is important. but her classes are soooo fun.! take her!!!
Go to class, don't miss deadlines, and read her handouts and powerpoints for helpful hints. Getting an A is extremely manageable.. but she can be kind of rude sometimes.
She is great! I'm not good at english but she help me improve on my essays. This class was hybrid and my first time taking a hybrid class she made it fun and helpful
Dr. Harris is straightforward and extremely helpful - but go to class and participate online. You'll fall way behind if you don't. There was a lot of writing, but she assigned the huge research paper at the beginning of the semester, so we finished the class a week early. No final. Best English professor I've ever had.
Dr. Harris is a very fair lady. Do your work on time and follow the instructions, you'll get a good grade. If you take hybrid, participate. She can be very rude with students at times, but ignore it. OH, if you choose to do a hybrid class, things are due very quickly. If you can't handle fast paced things, avoid this class.
Great teacher! I love to write now because of the skills and revision techniques that we learned.
Very good teacher, easy to please, but she'll let you know if you do something wrong. 1102 is very similar to 1101.
I wasn't interested in English but Dr. Harris is a great professor! Class is great and she makes it where you enjoy reading and learning in her class. Don't be lazy and not attend her class, just participate and pay attention. Great class to take, could easily be the best class I take.
LOTS of busy work. We had to read several novels, write reports on them, quizes, weekly discussion board posts, and several projects and presentations. Everything we did was somehow focused on the middle east and womens rights. She was fairly annoying. She graded attendance, but talked about the most pointless thing in class. I would avoid
I took professor harris in a hybrid class and there was a lot of work due each week. there's definitely a lot of busy work, but it boosts up your grade if you do it right. she's lenient in the weekly posting grades, but she grades harder in the portfolios (4 total). at the end of the semester there's a group paper and group presentation.
I think she is a great professor. I took her hybrid class and it was A LOT OF WORK. I spent the majority of my time doing work for her class. She gives helpful comments and she keeps the discussions interesting. If you take the time on the work you will get an A.
A great teacher. She seems to grade more towards effort than ability. Her exams are all written exams and fairly easy as long as you read the assignments.
I took Prof. Harris for the hybrid english 1102 and i have to say that was by far the easiest class i took during the semester. She grades very fairly, online discussions are easy and she is very passionate about the class. I most definitely hight recommend her class to anyone. If you want an easy A take her.
Ms.Harris is very nice! Sometimes she can be unclear. Her philosophy for this class was that "everything is an argument". So many times she will make her students argue several different points. She helps her students think more deeply about things. It was a very interesting class. There are also no tests but 3 writing portfolios.
Great teacher for Eng 1101. She does make you look at things from a new way which can be difficult at some times but overall great teacher!
Dr. Harris is a really great professor. She can be a little strict on grading, but my writing has improved a ton! There's three big papers and four books that you really must get. Other than that, she's awesome. She definitely gets you to see things in writing differently.
Great teacher. I would take her for all my English classes if I could. Not many grades, but you really work on each paper fora long time. It really helps. Come to class prepared. She isn't strict on organization. She allows you to be creative. TAKE HER!
BEst teacher ever.Pay attention and showup. You will pass and learn altiou do that.
Banging my head against a brick wall is more helpful than asking Dr Harris to help you. If you can't write with intricate detail (and I mean describe the jelly on your pb&j sandwich) then this is NOT the class for you. Her expectations are fairly clear but when you have difficulty with your research project, dont expect her to answer your questions
TAKE HER!! Dr. Harris is a wonderful teacher! She is very clear about the assignments she gives and if you are present in class and do the readings/assignments, you will get a good grade. No textbook, just a few novels. All her tests are 100% writing but there are no tricks. She only tests you on the things she teaches. I highly recommend her!
Great Professor!! She really dives deep into the expectations for each paper so it's impossible to fail papers. Every Monday we are required to post on the discussion board with at least three posts which is an easy 100! No tests. Make sure you understand the different types of argument which is helpful when writing papers.
One of my favorite teachers that I've had! She is very clear on the assignments and what is expected and gives you plenty of time to do it. There aren't many grades so you have to make sure you do well with what you have. We didn't use a text book at all, just had to buy a novel from the bookstore. It was only like $12.
Awesome teacher, three essays and two other assignments. Grades them easily. Just go to class and you will get an A
Loved Dr. Harris! She is so precious and genuinely loves teacher English. She makes the class interesting, and is extremely helpful. There is a total of 3 essays, all of which she helps immensely on. There is a small group project at the end of the semester, but its no big deal. We were supposed to read three books- didn't even buy them. Great!
I would advise to TAKE HER! She is the best English teacher I've had. She teaches in a way that makes the learning easy to understand, & has you write about significant personal experiences, which helps a lot. I was afraid of English until her. I wish could have had her for all my English classes.
Dr. Harris is a wonderful professor. I took an honors class with her, and even though we did a lot of reading and work, I actually loved going to class. The class changed my outlook on writing; she's funny and easy to talk to.
Pretty easy class. Paper requirements tend to be long but she helps your writing technique to make it no problem at all. Great Professor!
She's the opposite of helpful. If you ask her a question that isn't a "yes or no" question, she'll say yes. Online discussions sucked. Very pushy about class discussions. Just do yourself a favor and don't take her.
Dr. Harris is a passionate professor. There are discussions due each week, but she's very fair on them and they count towards your attendance grades. Tests were very easy, be sure to attend the reviews the class before and she practically went over a similar test. Come to class and you'll have fun!
Professor Harris is the best english teacher I have had (highschool included). She teaches in a unique way, rather than chronologically following literature, she teaches it topically (epics -> poetry -> prose, etc.) She also facilitates lots of discussions to make sure you understand. Essay was a little hard, go to exam reviews and you'll be fine.
I took Ms. Harris for World Lit and she was amazing! The class is boring I had no interest in it but she made it fun. I'm a B student and I made an A. If you do her weekly discussion posts and come to the reviews before her tests there's no way you can fail. Easy class great teacher!
Dr. Harris was a great professor. There are easy grades such as the discussions every week and she gives good reviews before the test. The only thing that bothered me about her is that she drops the lowest test grade so if you do well on the first three test you still have to go to class because she gives in class quizzes.
Harris is a great teacher. Allows for many approaches. I took a class with 250 other students, so no need to speak up if you don't want to. Participation online is killer though. Easy tests, one paper, and one group project. Overall, wonderful class.
A great professor, she gives second chances for students to improve their grades. However, the online discussion is a hassle. You have to post two discussions per week and I used to forget them sometimes. Her class lecture is so boring, but it's an easy class. And she gives candy!
A great professor, gives clear expectations, grading fair, strict with assignments' overall the class was easy to pass if you do assigned readings and online discussions and assignments on time.
Great Professor! She is willing to help you if you show her that you're working hard. She gives a lot of chances for reviewing your papers. I was slacking off all through the semester, and I took advantage of the second chance she gave us so I ended up with an A! However, class is boring...just so boring. But take her! You won't regret it!
This Professor is very helpful, loves for you to ask questions, very knowledgeable about her topic, and she gives you a lot of stuff to help do your assignments. You do read a lot in this course, but most of her books are under 150 pages. VERY GREAT CLASS AND AWESOME PROFESSOR!! TAKE HER!!
Perfectly nice but asks entirely too much. Mandatory attendance, multiple weekly required discussion posts on d2l (even over spring break). Dr. Harris took nearly three weeks to get our final grades in. Our final was April 15th and we did not get our grades until mid May, which severely complicated summer and fall classes.
I like Dr. Harris. She explains what she wants really well, if you have a question, she tries her best to answer it. I like how we have questions & announcements before she officially starts class. We don't have ANY tests, only 3 essays, which we'll turn in a draft & get feedback on. There's no textbook, but we have other books that we read.
I took her as a hybrid and she was awesome. She leaves assignments open to interpretation which means she isn't a super strict grader. There is one main research project which, if you choose an interesting topic, will be easy. Overall, compared to the coursework of other 1102 classes, this is easier. Definitely recommend her! :)
I love Dr. Harris! She is really willing to help if you don't understand something. She likes when people get involved in her lectures, so raise your hand and comment on something she says! The papers aren't hard. We had about 3 pop quizzes which were basically attendance grades bc they were so easy.
Take professor Harris if you can for hybrid, far out one of the best professors I have came across in Kennesaw. If you follow instructions and listen to what she says, you'll will most likely get an A. I love how she gives back feedback on all of the assignments. There's one big paper in class worth 35% OF YOUR GRADE. Don't forget to post on d2l!!!
Dr. Harris is by far the best literature teacher I have ever had! We had three essays to write, but with her guidance and in-class workshops, they become easier and easier to write. Dr. Harris is not strict about attendance, but if you want an A, I recommend that you go. She is funny and very caring. I recommend her to everyone!
Took for a hybrid course. Awesome helpful teacher, participation and book are important. Easy grader. Just be prepared to write ALOT. This is, however the research paper class so it will be like that in all 1102 classes
She was very open to ideas you had about your essays and gave amazing feedback that as long as you paid attention and followed her feedback there was no doubt you would receive a good grade. She herself was very interesting and I always enjoyed class and looked forward to it everyday
Amazing professor, super feminist, really nice. I would totally take her class again.
Amazing professor. She is super helpful with all the essays, and you only read three books. She got me to change my minor to professional writing, and has made it far easier to write for all of my courses.
Professor Harris is one of the most helpful professors I've ever had. I took her for a hybrid and it was fairly simple, really make sure you remember to participate in discussions online and communicate with others. She loves participation, and as a researcher herself she always enjoyed to share her techniques with us. Privileged to be her student!
Great professor, just a really difficult class that focuses on gothic literature the entire semester for Honors. You read 3 books, there's 4 big assignments, and you have to do a discussion post weekly. I would definitely take the class again but be ready to work.
She was a wonderful teacher. She really cares about her students and wants you to learn. She was very clear with what she wanted and even when emergencies happen she always posted detailed instructions on D2L. She gave great feedback and the assigned online articles were really interesting or helpful. I would recommend her hybrid class to anyone.
Dr. Harris was by far one of the best professors i have ever had! Every day was interesting and full of laughter. The few books we read were interesting and the papers we wrote were inspiring. She was always there for help and would not let you leave until you understood everything crystal clear. One of those classes that you're sad when its over.
I loved this course. The class was a comfortable setting, which made discussions easier
She is so sweet, she listens to students complaints and changes things if necessary. She has two tests in the class which include two papers, the second paper is a creative writing. The tests have "no wrong answer" as long as you can back it up. Just participate in class a little and read the material.
As someone that sucks at writing, this was the best professor I could have ever had. She basically helps you forget everything you've been taught and turns it around. It helped me fall in love with writing. Take her if you have the opportunity to.
Dr. Harris is so far the best professor I've ever had, she knows what she is talking about and she makes writing papers actually fun and interesting. The whole semester was like one big project that had multiple things go into it and it worked really well and made the class easy and enjoyable. Very easy grader.
She finds a way to make everyone interested in the subject. She helps everyone see writing research papers as a more free form thing rather than just sticking to a ton of rules with no room for creativity. I know everyone's looking for an Easy A but this woman will help you learn and grow, and it'll save you for any other classes with papers.
She gives so much busy work that reminds me of a middle school English class and not a college one.
not clear when explaining work! does not take time to explain when asked simple questions.
While she is super caring and understanding, the class is a lot of work. Be prepared to constantly be writing papers and reading the assigned readings, or you will NOT pass.
Dr. Harris is an GREAT professor. She is an extremely fair grader. Each week you write a 1 page paper, but it is straightforward and not time consuming. Other than that, your only other grade is an ePortfolio of 20 pages of basically any topics of your choosing. You also have a group project that is really fun. She really cares about each student.
Dr. Harris is a great professor, although I just did not love her class. However, most people did like her class. If you like english, I recommend taking her class. You have to attend class, and you are graded on very little. You have to do a TON of reading and lots of writing but what do you expect from english. She gives lots of feedback andcares
She is really nice, but I think that she takes everything way too seriously. I am someone who is normally good at english but she makes everything way more complicated that it has to be. I am annoyed every single day of this class because of all of the work it requires. I spend hours a week on this class and the work is NEVER ENDING. not an easy A
I love Dr. Harris Cox so much I am taking her again for my next English. She gives great feedback and makes class feel like a safe space to get out all of those scary English questions for college papers. This is a very enlightening class.
Dr. Harris Cox is such a good teacher. I took her hybrid class where you go once a week and do the rest of the work at home and I highly recommend. It is kinda weird because the theme of our class was "gothic", so everything would relate back to that. I have to do the most work for this class, so don't take this if you want to be lazy.
Took the hybrid 1101. She's an okay person but our class meetings would turn into political discussions with no real value. The theme this semester was "creative non-fiction personal gothic essay." You have to turn some memory of yours into a scary story. Weekly assignments, grammar quizzes, discussions, etc. Content heavy class.
Prof. Harris-Cox is amazing. There is quite a bit of homework, but if you like English youll be fine. She makes her criteria very clear and she grades quickly, giving detailed feedback each time. She also gives great strategies and tips for creative writing. I feel like Ive grown a lot in this class and Im taking her class again next semester.
Dr. Harris Cox is a great professor to take to dig in to your writing skills. She is involved with each student's work and style. She is very opinionated, but never makes you feel invalid if yours differs. Sometimes the assignment is unclear, so you kind of have to wing it until she gives you feedback and then its all smooth sailing
Extremely unclear insutrctions when it came to assignments and how they were graded I've never gotten so little help from a teacher when I email them trying to clarify I had an 89.8 in the class and despite doing extra credit told me I was already "locked in" at a B and she wouldnt even curve Very harsh grader Don't take
I LOVED THIS CLASS! A secret to pass this class is whenever you have an essay the way to pass it is add DETAILS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. I passed this class and tbh I barely did effort but because i added so much details to my essays i receved an A grade. She doesnt care of spelling but more so on more details to make essays interesting. TAKE THISCLASS
This was my first online class and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She has a clear grading rubric. There is no final. You are working on one essay the entire time and this essay is technically your final. She is available to help you at any time and she will respond to emails or concerns withing 24 hours. I highly recommend taking this class.
Acts like we are all English majors taking ONLY her class. Course load is extremely heavy, assignments are unclear, feedback is unclear. She likes to hide additional assignments in tons of reading, causing me to miss deadlines a couple of times, something that never happens to me. She seems to care but needs a reminder that her class is Gen Ed.
The best english professor I have had. She gives great feedback on your essays and really helps you improve them in order for you to attain an A. She's really understanding and super reachable if you ever need help on anything. 10/10 would reccommend.
Dr Harris Cox is one of the BEST teachers Ive ever had! She makes you love writing & all assignments expands on your creativity. You have plenty of opportunities to boost your grade with ec. GO TO CLASS.. Itll help you with your essays. Attendance is mandatory but you can miss a few classes without It effecting your grade. Youll love this class!
Took her for online and it is very content heavy. A lot of assignments based on 1 project. Seems like a lot of unnecessary busy work and she is not clear in her instructions at all. Im sure shes better in class but do not take her online class. Rude when you email her and doesnt explain things at all. Very harsh grader.
If you're an English major you'll like her because she treats every student like English is the most important and only thing you should be doing with your life. She is rude in emails and such a hard grader. Her instructions are very hard to follow and you'll always end up not doing something right. Don't take her online or you'll hate it more.
Loved this class! Entire semester is spent working on one long profile project, basically a blog post about someone. Each week there are little pieces of research and writing that build upon each other and come together to make the rough draft of the essay. Small extra credit opportunities, too. Great feedback from professor and peers make it easy.
Ms. Cox is one of the best literature teachers I've had. I have had her for 1101 and 1102 and both classes have been great. She is a professor that actually wants you to succeed and I would highly recommend to take her.
This class was such a pain in the butt. So many assignments and stuff to keep track of. Wants things done in a very specific way but will help you out with it if you get things done on time or early.
Dr. Harris Cox was an amazing professor. She gives great feedback on all of your assignments. As long as you turn in the work on time and do the extra credit in each module. you can finish with an A. But you have to work hard for that A. Her course is also very organized. I took this course online 100%. Good luck!
Professor Harris Cox is an angel. She clearly cares about her students and does everything in her effort to help them succeed. However, her instructions are sometimes unclear. The class is all writing and reading so be prepared for that! Do your work on time, ask questions, and ALWAYS participate. If you can do all of that then you will get an A!
Dr. Harris Cox is amazing! She doesn't make things boring. We had small quizzes and assignments due and a huge project at the end. The project was to make up a new word and advertise it. She is prepared and comes with a passion to teach. I took her for Honors and she was an inspiration. Super sweet and considerate, a great learning experience.
Dr. Harris Cox is awesome! The class is very well organized and straightforward. We read a lot of books and articles. This is a research-heavy class be prepared to search and read. We created a website and uploaded our "HWs" and wrote a huge (work of 15 people) archive about the Latinx community. Our work was displayed in Marietta Museum. Loved it!
She is a very good teacher however be ready to READ and WRITE. Her essay prompts are literally insane however she is a rather lenient grader and you will get a B if she can tell you tried. A lot of our grades are completion as well and she gives 9 extra credit point to the overall grade plus extra credit on major assignments.
This woman is probably the best Professor I have had at ksu. She is very kind and will help you every step of the way in your writing. As long as you participate you will be good in the class. Both projects in the class are creative writing and there are some times where it just feels like busy work, but you wont find a better engl2130 teacher!
I had a really good experience in this class with Dr. Harris Cox! This class is fairly simple as it's just the profile project all semester long. It's organized very nicely so you won't get behind or stuck. She provides many resources and gives great feedback for almost everything. Really recommend taking her!
Professor Harris runs a well-organized class, with a clear grading rubric and helpful feedback. The workload is heavy, but doable if you stay on top of the assignments. I found Unstuckstudy's study tools really helpful for preparing. Overall, a solid class for the dedicated student.
She gives such detailed feedback that you can just change what she says to change and get a good grade. She really just wants people to participate so just be present and do work. Sometimes her quizzes didn't make sense to me but they don' weigh that much and she gives 4 attempts. She also has a late assignment dropbox which saved me twice lol.
