Great class.
Very helpful, easy to comprehend what he was teaching. Also, the information he taught was very helpful to me because I learned how to set up and run a secure workstation.
Awesome Class
I have no comments for either improving or changing. I understood and got the help I needed in order to complete the class.
Mr. Hyberger was very informative and encouraged us to research explainations with regard to the topics we were discussing/learning each day. I find his teachn method very useful. He uses online textbooks which I also find useful.
Very informative class.
Helpful course
Very personable and approachable. Goes out of his way to make class interesting.
Does his best to teach each student at the students level.
I think quizzes of some sort would be helpful, just to keep information fresh. Friday classes are fine. Classes should not be mandatory, helps people who work. Hands-on hardware setup would be nice.
This class did teach me some new things about Outlook client/server relationships. Rocky as always taught a great class, however, I personally feel like this class should be a full semester course. There seems to be a lot more information out there that should be covered, as I feel like we just scraped the tip of the iceberg with this class.
homework, was good. recordings we clear and good. Textbook didn't need one. It academy was good learning. Labs and screen shots we excellent. should attendance should be amanatory wether online or in class.
Rocky should be more prepared with goals to accomplish during each period. IT acemd is very useful. It should be done at home with disccusion later. Study guide is good ideas. Nice to keep classes light, but we sometimes get away. I APRECIATE the concern that you have that each student has a chance to success. no textbook, so many better sources.
Very likable instructor. I appreciate that he does not give us all the answers right up front. We have to work through some issues as we go along. Easier to retain info that way.
Would appreciate more work during class. Also, the lack of textbooks is great because it saves the students money and most people don't get much out of textbooks than they do from other things such as IT Academy. There should also be a couple more exams so that we are forced to remember what we are taught and sticks with us longer.
This class was full of useful knowledge and also what kind of knowledge we should prepare for in the work place. No Fri. class. No need for text. IT academy is a great way to learn it focuses on exactly what were learning. Some days were a little slow as we decided what we should learn next. Other than that it is a great course.
Extremely concerned about student and their success. Sometimes should be harder on them. Class period more stucture. Okay to have us solve problems, but should have an idea where we are going. Use it acc as home work and use class time to review it.
I've enjoyed the class but I wish it were a full semester instead of a half semester class.
Rocky is a very good instructor who's clear and helpful. I like the fact that we learn to use online resources rather than text books. The home work off webx recordings is a good idea. I get a lot of help off those recordings. The only sugestion I would have is I wish the class time was more structured and prepared.
Keep up the art work. Using IT Academy is a great resource and works much better than any textbook.
ITAcad is dated, limited & broken. Follow the 'labs' not the overview of ITAcad. Extra monitors HELPS but with 3+ apps open (Webex, browser,ITacademy, instuctions) it is hard to follow along with what is being clicked in what program. A 'bulletin' indicating where to find assignments.
no hard copy textbook use limiting clutter and luggage to carry to class. and its all electrical to make it easier for computer class students.
I believe the class is to short, it should be made into a full semester class, so more topics can be covered and current topics can be in more depth.
I really like not having to buy a textbook. However, I think this class should go a little faster since it is both about command line and registry, that way we get more hands on on both . The amount of homework could have been a little more, but it wasn't too bad.
Awesome teacher I really wouldn't change a thing with anything in the class.
Didn't need a textbook which was nice to keep cost down,Also class was very clear which made doing work easier. If you showed up all home work was done in class which is nice for people that have to work while going to college.
I like the ITAcademy classes offer instead of a text book. Homework was reasonably assigned with reasonable due dates. Also, liked the flexibilty to review classes on the recorded webex sessions, assisted with my studies.
This classed was very well paced. Screen shots worked well for assignments to turn in. Attendance should not be mandatory, some students work full time and can't make it to class. Web ex recordings were extremely helpful to watch. Would have liked to have kept class moving and stragglers get help after class.
Great Class, Great Professor
textbook no, itacademy good, exams no, homework less, webex make sure everyones mikes are mute, unless talking, Rocky is a great teacher,
gave me a good understanding of topic covered. Covering too much material would not have been as useful
online text book better then having to pay for a real book. robot c was nice because it gave us a visual aid to understand what the code was doing. the virtual robot is better because it takes less time to run the function. turtle is nice. No use turtle after you have taught the basic codeing. HW amount was fine.
I enjoyed not having to purchase a physical text book. It was just the reference I needed. Using RobotC generated interested in the class, I liked it! I like using the real robots. I am a very visual learner, and Turtle helped me process the info that was given. Turtle in the beginning might be helpful to lay the foundation for Python. 4hoursaweek

1.Textbook: I feel like they are unnessacary now. I can get information much quicker now using google and YouTube. 2. Maybe, I wouldn't like it, but I can't think of a good alternative. 3.Sometimes, but it's easy to just tab out if you've stopped. 4. It's an interesting idea but this formatdid work
Overall the class was great but I think that the class should have graded attendance. It would also be a good motivation for student, if the student want a good grade then they would have to attend class.
The concept of not using textbook is a wonderful idea not only because it is cheaper for the students, but using the materials online gives student a great advantage to learn updated materials. The pace of class is just fine.
Giving points for attending is not needed. The extra help given during class is more than enough reason to attend class. The due dates on drop boxes are all the things needed to keep people going. Especially with distance and MN winters getting to class can be hard. The class needs more structure. This could even using a real book. Sadly but true.
i loved that we didnt need to buy a textbook...attendance should not be taken, i work a full time job overnights and couldnt make half the classes...the class is perfect dont change it
one improvement i would like is graded attendent because i think student who attend class everyday should be rewarded then the one who dont come to class.
Credit for attendance is a good idea. I like the webex recordings. Good class and very good instructor.
The class needs more structure. This could be done by needing a book. The only problem is that an extra cost.
Virtual Box can handle servers. Should look into central or licensing a central server
Great teacher. One thing that I did not like is one recording you would tell us to this and thats the drop box and then I would watch the reding for your next section and it would be somthing different but for the same drop box. So I could never tell which one was which or if both of them would work.
I am a hands on learner and some more hands labs. maybe setting up a small network with a couple workstations and get them secure with things we speak about in class would be useful in implementing what we learn in a practical, on the job way. I really enjoyed the class very much though!
I think there should be one server so that way that student don't get behind because of server not working.
Good class. It would have been nice to have a text book at the beginning of class. Good, in-depth information.
Good class. Actually used some of the material outside of class.
best class
class was very informative.
Over all was a fairly easy class. I fell everything was explained well and that is good that we spent quality time on each piece of information instead of rushing it to much. I would have to say to keep the text book that we found. It offers very good information. Over all class is taught very well.
Class was fairly straightforward any issues and Rocky was always available to help.
good job
Homework was enough Online quizzes?--no
A little heavy on the homework. Working on assignments in class allows us to not only benefit from the instructor's presence, but also allows us to help each other out when the inevitable problems occur. And it helps because four solid hours of lecture get a tad long otherwise.
did a good job
I think this class was very helpful and was taught very well. I would have to say there isn't really anything I would change about it. It goes over plenty of useful procedures to help us in our line of work.
It was a very good class. I learned quite a bit.
Great class, short due to Federal Holidays but was still able to teach effectively even with the short teaching window.
Windows Workstation Security was a good class to help build on the basics and more advanced ways to secure a computer at home or in the workplace. Overall Rocky was a great instructor and his class provided good information.
Great class. Rocky does a good job of going over the course material very well. Can honestly say I am very happy I took this class, very helpful.
Good instruction and skills
Good instruction. Almost all hands on work which is great. Most drop boxes during class.
He's a great teacher, unless you have a mac then expect a lot of critisim and sarcstic remarks.
Loved it, but a lot of programs require product keys, which can sometimes fail.
This class was very useful for learning how to use various applications on the computer. I'm really glad that we went over Excel because I always wanted to get better at using Excel. I also like the fact that you can do this over Webex. It helps out when you can't make it to school.
Drop boxes done during class. so not that much homework to do.
Class was well structured, liked the fact that if you attended class the majority of homework was done in class. Little to no homework awesome!
Great class, learned alot and didn't have to do much homework so I could concentrate more during class on learning. Wish we would have covered more on servers.
Give more help to students, and slow down.
Assistance was available and broad in topics. Was able to get more detailed work options on the basic level applications. At times, the ease of the programs required seemed almost trivial, but I learned material quickly.
Great Teacher, Awesome class.
Screen shots during class are great if you have problems that creates your homework.
Great class, most if not all the homework was done in class.
Like how you do all the homework during class so it makes it so that you know exactly what you are doing! Its very clear!
Cover the basics of windows, needs more knowledge on Apple Mac operating systems... Just saying Rocky.
The class is fairly educational and fun. I would recommend this class to someone starting an interest in the CST program.
Rocky is a very fun instructor. He is clear and concise and is great at getting his point across and making information easy to understand for all students.
He is a good teacher and is always looking for ways to lighten up the class.
Very Helpful and takes time to make sure you undertsand
class was great, beware of other students who may hold back the class. Was hoping to do more network security based labs in class as the labs on testout are not all that helpful. Overall great instructor.
Very good teacher. Sometimes he would think of a lab on the fly and it would take up class time figuring it out. Would be nice to have it figured out before class.
What I didn't like the most would be TestOut, but I don't think that's his call to make. Something I did like was student participation, he would pick students to shadow and if they weren't caught up, he would help them get up to speed with what it was, or assign a work study to help that person, unless there was no time to help.
Very clear, wants to help.
I enjoyed this class, felt like I learned a lot but I wish the class was more face to face. I enjoy it more when its face to face than through webex.
I really liked the class for what it was, he would do multiple assignments for one subject just to really nail it into your head. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but point being it got easier each time.
More hands on would have been fun. Less theory and more application. Its one thing to see python at work on the screen, spitting results and numbers at you after your code is entered. Its another thing to actually have your code make something happen in the real world. The stop light program was a great example of this. No its not the same thing.
The information presented was not what I was expecting. I don't think we covered as much information as we could have or should have.
Helped very much in making sure things are understood. Somethings were difficult to understand with code academy alone but Rocky made understanding much easier. He really made sure the basic concepts could be understood. I would recommend getting students on codeacademy right away. Maybe even make a suggestion to start early to help in class.
from question 9: Hilarious and caring. The one knock I'd have is maybe grading final exam a little sooner rather then last week. i know some students wait till last minute but some students do it ahead of time. would like to get it graded early so if anything is wrong they can fix it sooner then the last week.
Rocky did a good job at teaching this class and I wouldn't change much about it.
A great teacher who goes into detail about how to do stuff but the material is not set in stone. He will find many ways to do about anything and will show you exactly what you need to do. He will help with just about anything you need and has plenty of office hours.
I learned a ton in the powershell 1861 class that will be useful in the work field
I dislike testout but I enjoyed the lectures and more hands on approach than just reading out of a book.
Excellent Labs. Wants the students to succeed and will devote time making sure everyone is on the same page. Testout can be a bit slow to work through but speeding up the videos is a solid option.
I have taken several classes from him now, he is very knowledgeable and skilled, what he doesn't know he is more than willing to dive into and learn. he is one of those teachers that you can tell cares about what he's doing and his students, and that is a big deal.
for me personally I loved the hands on in class is great I retain alot more from the lectures and hands on than I did from testout as I struggled with some of the quizs no matter how much I read and watched from the chapter things just didnt stick like they did from the in class portion
Easy to follow and very clear instructions. Very informative. Class can move a little slow at times, but he never leaves a student behind
Rocky did a great job with this class. From my experience, he is much more hands-on-oriented. You will likely spend the full allotted lecture time doing lab work. This is good if you are someone who learns by doing.
Mostly follow along with things in the text book which is kind of boring but it is what it is.
Rocky's a great professor, combs through the details and and has a great personality while teaching.
Rocky is able to explain complicated concepts in simple terms and provides a lot of hands on examples that really help the lectures stick. Very respectful with a bit of humor make his lectures easy to participate in.
I enjoyed his teaching style. Unlike other teachers I have had in the past, he uses the entire class time for each class. A lot of hands-on in class projects, which is good, especially if you're new to the program. Can appear to be slightly unorganized, but will use it as a teaching opportunity and work through the issue until it gets resolved.
*extensive content knowledge! *labs are from the textbook but not identified on assignment posts *class often seemed very "last minute planning" *office hours were mostly in the evening *all labs happened in class so if you were able to keep up with how fast he would go, you wouldn't get behind. *went through the labs FAST *multiple labs per class
I enjoyed his class.
looking for to get another course under him..
It was a class that was well balanced with work in class and out of class. Rocky was very helpful when it came to explaining and helping me with assignments. Overall, very fun class!
Great teacher with lot of hand on experience
While Rocky does have a huge amount of experience and knowledge about the content area, I never felt that he was very prepared to teach. It always felt last-minute and "off the cuff." That being said, I did learn a lot in this class and enjoyed it.
Rocky is by far my favorite instructor I have had. He is extremely caring and is always looking out for his students. He goes over relevant information, and is very hands-on, which has taught me so much this semester. I am bummed that he wont be my instructor throughout more of my education, but Dakota Tech is very lucky to have him.
Rocky is a great professor in all aspects. I liked his teaching style because he would guide us through important topics each week. Sometimes we would watch videos, but then go through to topic ourselves to really learn it.
I enjoy how he teaches what he has found important over the years, other than following a textbook constantly.
Rocky really knows his stuff. He is super helpful with any questions you might have, and generally cares that you are learning and understanding the material.
Tor was a great tool to keep on hand class was fun and hands on, i would suggest letting us work through a few more problems on our own as students and the collaborating a bit more after a short alotted time to make sure everyone is on track! other wise class was awesome! cst 1640 (still wouldnt allow addition of the course)
Rocky does a good job teaching from experience without the clutter of useless information. Very straight-forward lectures and assignments.
