was a decent class. should have it where you can download the recordings so that if one cant get online from home and missed the class can download for the day that was missed from school to watch it from home. Also would be best to wear the headset so that all students can be heard better.

i like having classroom attendance mandatory or at least weighted with points ... not popular i know but better for learning :) Adobe is a great tool for viewing classes that were missed. it would be good to require everyone to have a headset and logged into adobe during class. (2nd monitor would then be nice to have!!)

I really like to have recordings to listen to with adobe. This class was very helpful because we went over many things in depth. I really like having no books. I do not think there should be attendance. No tests they will not help. I DO NOT THINK THERE SHOULD BE EXTRA CREDIT FOR THURSDAY NIGHT BECAUSE IT IS LATER AT NIGHT AND NOT EVERY HAD THE OPT

I loved the relaxation of class and enjoyed attending. I liked having the Adobe availability online and recordings for later viewing. Screenshots worked very well.

Should have gone over how to remote into class on more than just the first day. The recordings were helpful as long as you remembered to record the class. Would have been helpful to hear the other students on the recordings. I liked the Microsoft Office portions of the class. Would like to see how to load applications on other systems like Macs.

While I appreciate not having to purchase a book. It may have been nice to have a reference book as an optional source in the bookstore(not required). In addition I attended both section of class at times and I found I learned more in the longer 2hr section on Thurs evening than I did in the shorter 1hr section.

made things clear, easy to keep up on what is going on in the class. one thing to change, when goin though the online text, instead of taking screen shots of test restults, make us do the study guides and fill them out. i think it would make us learn more about what we are doin.

Good course. All work is clearly laid out and easy to follow even if you are unfamiliar with computers.

I gained good understanding of windows workstation security. The only complaint or I really have is, when you asked us to make drastic changes to our host os firewall to point of breaking. It was not practical to expect us to do this when we need our host to function for our other classes.

I like taking rockys classes, but needs a curriculum to maintain consistancy. Rocky is easy to pay attention to, and is very helpful. Helps out quite a bit.

I think the class is very informational. Would have liked the students to have thier vm running correctly before class and get assignments done so the rest of the class dosen't have to keep back tracking.

Should have some sort of testing in place. Seems that data retention by students is poor. Also, less time should be spent on individual student problems during class. This gives less time for teaching new material and causes many students to lose focus and get distracted.

The text books later in class made it less confusing. Love web x because I can remote in and also upload and rewatch classes. Home work waqs ok but we need to start mors in class going over what we learned like we did towards the end. I was lost by the time we hit defined functions but it started coming to me later with some help.

the text books that were online were actually a great idea. webex i think he did great its just not a great program. turtle was a good start but i think it should have been at the end really kinda like a test. homework not alot at all really. over all he is a great teacher

Online textbooks were used often and appropriately. Webex was useful when missing class but should require classroom attendance for full comprehension of how python works. Homework was fair all semester. Hyberger should start out with the basics(i.e. Invent your Python) at the start of a new semester then move on to Turtle.

Great class although initially quite challenging. The recordings were extremely useful for reinforcing the content taught although a textbook may have also been useful. The amount of homework was just about right.

teach at a starters pace for thoes that never programmed /not interested in programming, Text books may help, web ex was great to look back at, turtle was helpfull but taught fast for me, this class challenged me more than anything i have ever done. Great instructor very knowledgable. Very helpfull, just not something i will ever learn iam afraid

Good teacher, i do everything from home and Rocky does a good job explaining everything. One thing i would suggest is that for the recordings, it might be a good idea to do a separate recording with the students that have problems, that way if anyone ells has problems as well they can just watch those videos and trouble shoot the problem faster.

This class was great!

The class was very informative and I learned a lot. WebEx is great and I used it often because of my work schedule.

Overall the class was enjoyable, I believe the instructor was knowledgable, but could be slightly more prepared as far as the material that is to be covered in class. One thing that could be addressed is the structure of the class.

Rocky is great about not letting people who understand the material get bored, he also as he puts "circles back for the casualties" so if you don't get it right away he comes back for you. I love the fact that he doesn't require a textbook but makes suggestions of good books if you want to dig deeper.

I liked the idea of doing turtle at the beginning to help us visualize the programs we were running! I would also say maybe expand scratch more then what we spent on it. Need more time spent with the slower students. In my opinion the instructions were rushed through.

No textbook was good. Turtle at the beginning was good. Webex was easy to use. Non mandatory attendance is fine, helps with scheduling conflicts. Scratch either keep as is, or eliminate. Homework was good but offer harder assignments as extra credit for students that are bored. Invent with python was a good text as reference.

Turtle should of been at the end, Scratch eliminated, I would of liked more home work.

I really liked this class, it would have been nice to have a text book though(I just dl'd the free one online)It was challenging, but Rocky was very good at "picking up the casualties" when there were students struggling. I liked using Python because there are jobs out there for ppl who know how to use it.

No textbook works well.Turtle works for me at the beginning. webex works well. Scratch helps to put things together. Homework was moderate. I like the extra review time for slower students. I thought all the textbooks we used were helpful.

The class was fun. Love that we didn't have to spend money on books. Web.Ex was very good understood everything. For homework i thought it was find maybe you could and one homework every couple of week so if we get behind were not too far behind. Over all I think everything your doing is OK.

Rocky picks good topics to teach and is very intersted in + outor all. He has to look at his audience. Most of us don't need instructions on finding a career. Even if we should learn subject before how it applys. Please have a plan before starting the class and teach the most current technology. I doo appreciate all that we're learning!! Thank You

I don't like having a textbook to carry around. I would love to have attendance part of the grading, since I have had classes that based the grade on attendance. I would come to class if there was a attendance for a grade.

The class was overall pretty easy. The few assignments that caused the class a problem overall where dealt with in a timely manner by Rocky.

Hear is the thing people who are failing clearly don't care that there failing. If you make attendance mandatory then they will fail anyway. This class is very noob friendly I feel any issue that takes longer then 5 mins to fix is not worth fixing.

I generally have nothing bad to say about Rocky. Only issue I have really is that we do some things that should be done on a virtual machine. Reason why is because I don't wanna screw up my laptop. or if we can at least have an old laptop to do these certain things on that risk messing up the laptop, that would be ok.

I think for this class a textbook would be a better reference rather than just IT academy. I loved webex and the recordings, it worked very well for me and my schedule, because alot of times I couldn't make it to class.

The use of IT academy is good for the learning and application of information. Attendance should be mandatory. At times the pace is slow but in the long run it is benefical for all. Lectures/readings as homework is a novel idea and warrants an attempt at it.

The IT academy worked out just fine. Still think you should definitely have an incentive to be here in person rather than sitting at home with distraction and a less desirable learning experience. It was kind of annoying spending most of the class time on some people issues and then have them never resolved.

textbook: yes, if there is one that would be helpful. Attendance: I attended all classes regardless of grade for it. I do think that it should be part of the class. Your trying to instill good work ethic and showing up to work is part of that. If there is a reason to stay home to attend and communicate that to you prior to the class.

No need for Textbook.No because some people have long drives. Sometimes its easier to understand you when at home, because of people who talk all the time at class. It does get annoying at times, but it doesnt get overbearing. I like the combine nature of the class. What is proposed would be hard to do i think.

I feel starting with python would be a better fit. I really enjoyed the turtle however I'm a visual learner.

I like IT Academy vs a text book. Saves money and is a little more versatile. As for attendance I like the versatility of web x, eventhough I attended both sessions most of the time. Attending in person should be optional but it is also there responsibility to pass the course. The class moves along fine I prefer the layout you use.

I prefer non-mandatory attendance since it's possible to be able to view the recordings if a class has been missed. The recordings are also helpful to reinforce the concepts taught. I like that the lectures and the labs are both taught in class.

Rocky is a great teacher. I love that we didn't have to use a textbook it saves us money. I personally don't think attendance is a big deal, I think of it as the more effort you put into it the more you get out of it. Actually coming to class that should be your own choice. Reward for those who attend in person, but no punishment for those who don't. The pace could be faster, so I could learn even more. Any change in class format that would allow us to cover more ground, I am in favor. No need for textbook, info. we need can be researched on-line.

Love IT Academy, great site and saves me money. Attendance i believe if you can be there you shouldbe there, dock for late. I felt this class was not slow placed for me, i was able to keep up, if i had an issue i could figure it out with time and the recording. i like the way the class went, not su how i would like lecture/ reading.

Textbook is not necessary for this class; replaced with spending money on hard drives. I would prefer lectures/reading in first half of semester then more lab work in second half of semester. Attendance can be negative and positive; extra work for the individual if they want those points for attendance. The class pace should be average, not slow.

Great professor, taught at a pace that was easy to learn. Kept the class going and got through a lot of material.

I like not having mandatory attendance, it helps others with certain jobs or emergencies. I think if you want to get the most out of this class you will attend. I think people in person and in Webex should be rewarded for attending, but not too harshly punished for not attending because for some people it may be unavoidable.

Like the use of web x it is the students responsability to get here when they can, but if they can't they can still keep up. I still is the responsability of the student to pass. The videos also really helped both in IT Academy and on the web. I ike the mixture of lecture/lab if you have problems you can get help. Also group discussion is good.

I feel that if you're getting your assignments in on time or even right away and you get the assignment right and show that you understand the course you shouldn't be deducted points.

Give x amount of points per day for attendance. Require students to attend 70% of the time to pass the course. Take daily attendance and submit the points in a dropbox in D2L.

Only thing I don't like is that recordings are Homework. I feel as if I don't learn as much from recordings, especially when the first 15-30 mins of the recording are spent on the last classes assignment and way too much time is spent fixing peoples problems. I think more would get done if the same stuff was taught between both classes.

I would have really liked if we had gone a little further in depth into the registry as well as the PowerShell and how they can help you as well as hurt you r OS.

Think you should put in mandatory attendance of 70-80% of class. I also like the idea of having some reading and other things as homework and do labs in the classroom.

I believe the attendance should be done, but the same points be given to students that are in person or doing it web ex. At least they are showing up to ask questions as students that only watch the videos can not. So this will instill them to want to show up.

More hands on with windows server, and maybe award for attendance other than that i enjoys class.

Me personally I think not using a textbook should stay the same. As far as attendance that should be mandatory, but if some people have certain circumstances that are legit for not being in class then something should be worked out.

Rocky knows what he is doing and is very good at teaching the class. If you get it or if it is over your head he will make sure you understand in the end.

I feel the integration of actual hardware was an important change in the cirriculum. With the use of these resources would make the class more engaging and informational for the students. The planning and implementation should be more thought out to anticipate any hardware or software issues that may arise.

This class took on a completely new dimension when the server hardware was brought in. Using Software to show actual hardware is just ok. Having physical hardware worked out the best.

Rocky hasn't changed from the first time I had him. He still goes on squirrels.

Attendance should be part of the class. I know you think it may be inconvenient for many to attend in person but that what class is for. You do not find many jobs that will allow you to just stay home. The class schedule is know to the student prior to signing up. I think you need more study material to test people properly.

I think Rocky should make attendance a priority, since I'm more motivated if attendance is mandatory, whether in-person or via WebEx.

I still think that is a great idea but 4 still seems like a lot of days to miss. You should only have it down to two or three days. You could do some sort of testing to see what information is acutally being retained in the class over just screen shots. eople just seem to think I will just watch the webex and take the screnshot and not learn.

The only thing I would have changed in this class would be to have the option to see assignment instructions for closed assignments. Currently once an assignment is past due, it locks it so you can not even view it.

I like the course I didn't know about cacoon or VPN's. The web X is nice since I want to do continueing education after graduation. Attendace would be hard when working. Quizzes ?? I like labs better. More technologies that are new to students that will help in jobs.

Attendance should be flexible with only a few absences. I think there should be some kind of reward if we make it to all or at least 95 percent of the classes, whether it is online or on campus. I like that we don't have to buy textbooks but instead a hard drive for back up. I think quizzes would make it more interesting along with the lab work.

I would love to get more into server hardware. I would also love to get more in depth into SQL and Share Point being those programs are utilized heavily in todays IT environments.

Overhaul good class

A good start, but towards the middle of the year became really boring and hard to pay attention in class.

Having hardware that can run even though we were able to manage for most of us(which he knows) would help every things else is fine.

Would be nice if all the students had the same hardware resources.

The class was fun and interesting. Especially getting to know PS. I have never heard of it before. It would have been better if there was some prior knowledge of PS for the instructor. Like a more structured curriculum. But i understand it was the first year with PS.

Great Prof.Have taken many of his classes,would take more.

Textbook we used was mainly Powershell from an online source. It was a very good textbook to learn from. Maybe do more labs from it to help us be more efficient with the Powershell. Hyberger is a very efficient teacher in my opinion and stayed on task this semester.

Great professor, who is truly passionate about students grasping the basic concepts so they have a strong foundation in order to succeed with new and more challenging concepts in the professional world.

just right on homework, i think it may help some people with quizes, probably would have coverd more if class wasnt on a monday, friday would be a better class period

would have been nice to have a little more homework, being that it was a shorter class period. That way we would have learned a little more. The multiple choice exams would not really matter if people do it online they can just go off and search for it without still learning a thing. Would love to have class on Friday.

I believe that adding weekly quizzes would be a good idea. I personally don't like friday classes, but do not mind having this class on monday.

Homework: not enough. Exams: no they would not help me learn any more. I do wish the class war more in depth and longer, or in the later half of the semester because of the weather. I would prefer not to have class on Monday due to holidays, If I had to choose between Monday and Fridays I would prefer Fridays.

This class was fun. I was really interested in the security of windows, and this class did teach me a lot. One think that could have help was maybe purposefully infected a vm and trying to clean it lab. Doing more hands on things i mean. But the materials were good.

Going into this class I was expecting more troubleshooting with popular applications. While we did go through excel and outlook a little bit. Near the end of the semester it kind of went off course. It kinda switched gears to security and browser things which.. didn't really seem to go with the course.

Mark directed the class, so that we worked together as a group, therefore our homework was easily done in class.

Went in not knowing what to expect however between rocky and the other classmates, it was easy to get things figured out. :)

This course did provide a really good introduction to programming. It would be a very good idea to bring up the interactive events earlier in the semester.

We should go over the stuff we did the last of class sooner.

I believe that interactive events should be used earlier on in the semester. I thought this class was pretty easy but that was not the case for everybody. Having said that being an intro class it was well rounded.

This class is very helpful in helping you to get an understanding of what programming is about. Even though it was a little hard for me I still think it was explained and taught well enough. I feel that we managed to cover a lot that will help prepare you for advanced levels. I don't think you will need to change much.

The class was really enjoyable for me. I found it fairly understandable and very fun to work with.a little bit more examples would be helpful but it is not needed because the way it is taught is fairly straight forward.

It's been interesting learning things.

I felt he was a very good instructor. Easy to ask questions easy to get clarity if you ask for it. Things might go at quite a fast pace, as is deemed by the state curriculum, however this cannot be blamed on him. I believe he is a very good instructor.

Some things weren't as clear and didn't cover all the testout material.

Would like for the class to move away from testout and go more into out of class projects so people could learn hands on. I do not learn anything from testout its a lot of info ,but nothing sticks.

Clear teacher, good about having you understand what he wants from you. VM systems were a little finicky for the class, but thats just technology. Overall course, I learned a lot. Teaching style is helpful to students both veteran on computer systems, and not.

It was a great class showed you how to set up domains and certificates on servers.

I like that he has lots of personal experience to reference from. Sometime I think he walks through things a little to well where he would be doing much of the work, but that is not always the case. There was a decent amount of homework for this class to make up for that.

He teaches at the pace of the slowest student. Which is good to make sure everyone gets it. But is bad when you have people who just don't get it.

There are many assignments but if you show up to class and participate you will finish the assignments in class. He knows that the classes can be long so he makes sure to give students a break. For this specific class I feel there was a little to much copy from the book assignments.

Worth-while assignments that force understanding of the course materials. Nothing so difficult and beyond what has been discussed that it is impossible to achieve either alone or with a little guidance. Definitely worth showing up for in-class participation because the amount of information you will learn will be much higher.

Teaches things well and goes as fast as the group needs. Like using the book but think that we should go off of the programs more so you do more of it on your own.

The game development class was fun but I think the one way it could improve is if the book assignments were done in class and then have related assignments made up by Rocky to be more of a test on the concepts that were learned from the book.

Working with a book was nice but I didn't think that taking the assignments from the book was a good way to expand my knowledge of game development. I would have liked to have had more opportunities for critical thinking and creativity. Working with the code from the book would've been a good way to expand in that area.

The class was a lot of fun and challenging, the professor was very clear and engaging in the lessons. It would have been nice if we were able to actually use or publish some of our projects publicly.

The class was great, easy to fallow, but detailed on how the basics of programing works. Rocky was more than willing to assist students who struggled with the material. The use of code academy was great. The begin python site had some glitches on the other hand.

Dropbox could be open later, usually don't have time to work on the homework until late at night and if I find that I'm behind it was very hard to catch up in this class on homework with dropboxes closing at 2:30 rather than 11pm or 12pm.

This professor is one of the few that knows what he is doing. He gives clear, informative lectures, and will help you if you are stuck. However, be warned that there will be loads of homework. Most of it is done in class though. 10/10 would take again.

I learned alot in this course. Pace was a little slow for me. some entire days were spent reviewing material I was already comfortable with. there was plenty of time to get assignments done. Overall a very good experiance

Solid straight-forward answers to questions with wiggle room. Dont know? Find out. Encourages you to look at multiple options for solutions. If you are not comfortable with computers you will struggle right away. But generous completion dates for homework assigned, and hours outside of class designated for helping students.

Chill Professor that knows when to be serious.

He will tell you that he's worried about you and wants to put you on the path of success. He will help you understand something you are having trouble.

I believe Rocky needs to take a look at how non-traditional students who are older have more needs that there is time in class. Otherwise, he is a talented and knowledgeable instructor.

Feedback on grades and assignments is pretty good, the grading criteria is pretty straight forward. And the class is pretty accessible outside of class.

Online classes were fun and engaging. If you miss class, you can watch the recording and turn in your labs. Connects content to real-world scenarios.

Was not one of his best students but was willing to work with me during all of his office hours and even took the time to talk to me 1 on 1 about where Im going after school and what he has noticed about me and what would work well for me in his opinion.

You can tell Rocky really knows his windows environments whether its windows server or the desktop. He is very helpful with various forms of troubleshooting when a student has a problem. Overall he is fun to learn from in class.

The labs are the best part of the class. TestOut is a very good informative resource in my opinion even though I struggled with the tests. It can get boring at times and monotonous (testout, I mean). Looking forward to more of Rocky's classes. The troubleshooting opportunities are invaluable experience.

Not a fan of testout all that much but not much of a textbook person either and I'll miss ya rocky.

Rocky is a great professor at Ridgewater, I would highly recommend enrolling in one of his classes.

Only thing i would change is maybe hands on activites with real computers. however with covid currently that isn't an option.

Rocky did a great job with this class. From my experience, he is much more hands-on-oriented. You will likely spend the full allotted class time doing lab work. This is good if you are someone who learns by doing.

Mr. Hyberger is, in my experience, one of the best professors and individuals I had the pleasure of meeting. His classes and topics are comprehensible and accessible to anyone. I thoroughly enjoyed having him as my professor and would definitely partake in any of his other courses.

I like this style of teaching, not a by the book type of class. lots of in class labs and screen shots proving you did what was demonstrated. Id take his class again.

I respected the fact that Rocky went at the students pace instead of flying through material. Rocky often asked the students if they understood the recent material, if they did not, he went back and reviewed the material.

I usually had to spend a few hours outside class to finish the weekly assignment, but I always enjoyed this class, and when something gets too confusing it was easy to hop on zoom to get in-person help! -no grade feed back usually

Good teacher that takes the time to make sure everyone understands the material. Lectures I felt were lengthy some weeks, but it was easy to follow along in the class with practicing your programming skills or new material. I would recommend him to another student for future classes.

I really appreciated how Rocky incorporates real-world examples and direct applications of what we're learning. We did follow a textbook, but it was more of a guideline. Lectures in this class while long, are very hands-on and you can really feel how much easier it is to learn instead of reading all day every day.

The class I took with him was very straight forward. Easy to understand what he's teaching and if I didn't understand something, he would go back over it a bit slower and answer any questions we had. Even go more in-depth about the question we had. Which is what really sparked me in to coding with python and even java.

This Professor is the best that I have had within my college career. This class was honestly very slow, but he was sure that all students that wanted to learn, had the opportunity to, and he was very helpful with any questions. If many students were struggling, he would stop going forward, and instead go over the information again until understood.

For me this class was just right. The lectures were helpful and of reasonable length. The homework was appropriate. I would like to take more classes from this professor.

Very straight forward class. Lectures were put together very well. Rocky focused on teaching what would be expected in a realistic work environment.

Rocky really knows his stuff. He is super helpful with any questions you have, and really cares that you are learning and understanding the material.

Rocky is a great instructor, and he cares a lot about his students. He makes sure everyone understands the code, and knows how to apply it. He also taught us real world scenarios, with the help of Tor. Doing many programs together helped me learn a lot, and find the best way to go about working on them.

Professor Hyberger works to make sure students are learning the course material and having Tor in addition was a great help. I enjoyed this class (intro to Java) and learned so much.

He does well to take it slow and explain the details for the work you need to do, and you get hands-on experience before handling assignments. He also has work experience so you can learn about that too. However, he doesn't always plan his assignments well, so he may take extra time to fix or remove things while you are doing it yourself.

Rocky is the newest addition to DCTC and oh boy is he the greatest. A lot of reviewers from Ridgewater College think highly of him. I took his Operating Systems class, and he was there every step of the way. He didn't like the idea of zooming at the start but after a bit he was on board. Material was great, learned new things about new OS's. 10/10.
