Dr. Marcus is the greatest english professor @ HCC seriously. She's fun and her lectures are thought provoking

If you need it, I recommend you take this class!

When I took Prof. Marcus she just made everything clear. She always made herself advailable to you and spent time explain things. She lets you re-write papers and she would give you her honest opinion which really helped. If you aren't good in English, she is definitly the teacher for you. She helped me love English and now I'm an English major.

Prof. Marcus has been my faviorite teacher thus far in my college career.

Rocky is awesome! She is the best HCC english teacher, the class is an easy A, and it is fun. She makes learning enjoyable.

This professor is by and far THEE easiest teacher ever in regards to grading. If you have the will, you WILL get whatever grade you settle for! If you are interested in becoming a better writer, she will give you honest critiques that will enable you to walk away with many more horizons to explore. Great learning experience with Mrs. Marcus!

great teacher, you basically get what grade you want, if you are willing to revise your papers you can get an A on every paper. I got two A's out of ENG 1101 and 1102. Good teacher, especially for people who don't like english that much!!

I had Rocky a few years ago, and she is marvelous! She took us to the library and showed us where everything was. We always read our literature in a circle, and she helped us interpret the symbolism, foreshadowing, etc...She had a great impact on me, and taught me so much about writing, reading and literature. Superb!

The easiest english class you will ever take!!

GREATEST TEACHER EVER! She will help and encourage you the whole way. The assignments are simple and easy. She might not always stick to her syllabus, but this make it flexible for you to do your work when you can! As for learning a lot, who cares...it is college!!! I learned what I needed to know!

Great teacher, always willing to go out of her way to help.She makes you work for extra credit;I'd recommend her.

I absolutly LOVED her! She was the best ever. I recommend anyone and everyone taking her. She made me fall in love with writing. Not to mention she can definatly keep your attention, lectures are still lectures but the does try! I will try to take her again!

Great teacher. I received an A in her class. Took her for Spring and its now Fall and Im still making corrections to my research paper in order to get the grade I want. Always available and her classes were entertaining I guess you could say. Again, great teacher.

Great teacher! Took her for english 1 & 2. She lets you re-write your papers until they are A's. Learned alot..she makes the class fun. Take her if you have the chance, she is a great lady!

Professor Marcus is the most wonderful professor. She is awesome, she gets things done! She's always there to help. I loved her and I loved her classes. She inspires you and makes you want to learn. I wish she taught every class I need. I would take her for every one. She's that good!!!!!!!

i dont recommend taking her over summer..yes she lets you re-write your papers but she destroys your paper every time..very picky grader & she said she is no longer doing re-writes for summer classes! you have to write a 12pg research paper plus an essay...ridiculous! class is incredibly boring and pointless to go but she does take attendance

in her class you have a daily jornal entry, two 500 word papers and one 3000 word research paper that has to have at least 12 sources. honestly i think shes a nice person but need to spend alot of time doing her work.

theres something wrong with her at times..but she is extremely intelligent..she knows her stuff.there are no due dates but it leaves room for slacking and thats something u cannot do in this class, especially with the 3000 word research paper..the earlyer u start the better. and u can rewrite a paper as many times as u want. she's nice too..

Mrs. Marcus is very helpful and awesome. her class is easy except for the 3000 words research paper that you can rewrite as many times as you want. my advice to you guys is to start working on your research paper from the beginning of the semester.if you do, you will have an A. take her

She may seem cooky but it's cause she loves english lit. and that helps you be into it as well. The research paper is kinda scary but she is always there for help. You can basically turn in papers whenever and how many times you want. Everyday class is usually an easy discussion about a reading. Good professor.

She is enthusiatic about English and is very kind, always willing to help. Extremely intelligent, and clear with expectations. If you enjoy having interesting instructors and actually want to learn some valuable English knowledge, TAKE HER!!!! Loved her!!

She is AWESOME! She is very helpful, if you don't like the topics she has on her list she is very good about helping you find something of interest to you to write about, she uses a lot of hands-on learning, and is a great help with quizzes. She also has limitless re-writes, yay!

She was great. very quick with email responses! TAKE HER. If you are willing to rewrite for paper, will learn alot!

Great teacher...very laid back. allows unlimited rewrites to acheive an A in class.

Her expectations are really high but she is very helpful. You can re-wright your papers as many times as you want to bring your grade up. She tries to help you as much as possible. I def recommend her to anyone!

Just had her for summer semester. She tries to scare you away but dont let her fool you. Not easy but not hard. 3000 word research paper and 2 other 500 word papers.. unlimited re-writes for all papers. 3 absenses allowed and if you miss more you have to write 250 word paper to make it up. She is very helpful. Got an A so if i can do it so can you!

Had Rocky for 1101 and now 1102. Her grading is harder, but she allows you to go back and rewrite your paper as many times as you wish for a higher grade. She isn't strict on attendance she understands, and I honestly am a 50x better writer now than I was before the summer. Highly recommend her, the challenge is def worth it!!!

She doesnt have deadlines for work,and allows you to redo papers until you are satisfied with your grade. But its time consuming, and eventually the work will pile up! She has a great sense of humor too!

I thought she was awesome! Everyone should take her! I had her for enc 1101 and I wish I could take her again.

She is absolutely the BEST teacher I've ever had, bar none! She really cares about her students and does everything she can to help. Papers can be rewritten as many times as you need to get an A. It wasn't an easy class, but I learned a lot and actually enjoyed it. If you're looking for something easy, go elsewhere. If you want to learn, take her!

Really a great teacher. She gives you plenty of time to work on essays. You can turn in an "D" paper, and she will mark where you need corrections for an "A". I have to admit her lectures are really boring but beyond that, I don't see why anyone couldn't get a "B" or an "A" with her class.

UGH...where do I begin...TONS OF WRITING AND REWRITES... but for the students benifit. She isnt hard... just passionate...which in turn makes you have to keep rewriting papers due to her grammical obsession (if u want the higher grade). You will never know your grade until the absolute last minute.

to me this was a hard class,because of all the rewriting i had to do to obtain an A in the class. However Marcus will help you 100% of the time and she will always work with you if you truly want an A grade. I recomend Marcus if you have the time, and the urge to learn how to write and express your ideas clearly.

I took prof marcus for ENC 1101 amd ENC 1102 You will know how to write when you leave her class. Her style is very unorthodox but I guareentee you that when you step out of her class you will know how to write and work cite. She lets you rewrite & she is passionate about her work. After her class I have gotten in A in all papers out of her class.

Everybody already mentioned her class is hard but u can get A is u study hard. Just want to tell u that she is very caring!! Get to know her! She is my lifetime teacher!

The class isn't the easiest and her instructional methods are different but she is a great teacher. She allows you to re write until you are comfortable with your grade and she makes sure you leave her class understanding it all. She isn't strict on attendance. I recommend her to all serious students who care deeply about their grades.

My favorite professor at HCC. She has very high expectations, higher than some students have for themselves but she is very approachable, and easy to talk to. You will earn your grade! She is very eccentric but it's what I love most about her.

We just finished the summer course; LOTS OF READING, but expected - it's a LIT class. If it were up to her, everyone in her class would get an A. If she knows you are putting in the work and effort, she will do her part to ensure you don't fail, but you must approach her, and she is very approachable. Professor Marcus rocks!

My first and favorite professor at HCC. She would always work hard to make a 3 hour summer class fun and didn't mind you missing a day or two. If you're not a strong writer, she'll make you into one. Can't say enough about her, she can be intimidating at first, but she's really wonderful. 10/10

4 mandatory essays. No final needed. She is not strict with attendance. Strict and hard grader, but you can re-write you essay as many times you want until you get the grade you want. TALKS slow and A LOT!. Sweet woman, easy class.

Ms. Marcus is an amazing teacher who teaches with passion and interest. She will completely surprise you with her thoughts. She will go the extra mile for determined students and makes sure that everything she teaches is understood efficiently. I took her for two semesters, and would highly recommend her for English.

Ms. Marcus is an awesome teacher. I hate english but she made it interesting and I learned a lot. She grades tough but she is very understanding when it comes to late work and she gives you an opportunity to make a better grade. She even shows you the mistakes you have to correct and you simply have to edited your papers for a high grade.

Mrs. Marcus is a great teacher. I hated English and never received an "A" in an English class before this. She's a tough grader but if you hand in your assignments early or on time, she will give it back with corrections for you to hand back in for a higher grade. The only students that don't like her are the ones who don't do the work.

Im from Turkey, and english in my seconda language, but with her help i passed this class with A-. Please sat back and think about it if a Turkish can pass this class with A, why cant you ?

The best english professor ever. If you are willing to put in the effort then you will get an easy A. lots of work. Willing to explain anything to you.

She is an AWESOME PROFESSOR but if you are a procrastinator her class will kick your butt. She will help with your papers and grade them alot easier if you go to her office and go over your papers with her.

Awesome teacher! She talks a lot, but for good reasoning's... you will never a reason why you couldn't understand your assignments! Pretty funny and laid back. Given I'm good at grammar and punctuation, I couldn't ever understand how to write an essay, but now I can do it in my sleep! Simply an amazing teacher :)

Her class is very interesting. My first language is not English, and I don't like writing. But attending her class was not as boring as I thought. She explains everything very clearly; she requests several essays including a research paper; she loves poems so much. I learned a lot from her and got an A.

Best English teacher i have ever had. I've NEVER received and an in english before, DONT BUY A BOOK she put her copy on the projector for the class to see. there is also group work with other who may have a book.. class pretty much consists of writing 4 papers 2 or which are research papers. if you get a bad grade you can rewrite the paper.

Boring lectures but easy teacher. Grade consists of 4 essays which you can rewrite for desired grade. No deadlines.

Best English professor by far! She allows you to rewrite your papers that you might have done poorly on. It actually makes you a better writer as well. Show up for class and participate and write your research paper and there should be no reason to not get an A

Not best lecturer, but is clear and class is easy. As long as you take notes in class you'll be fine. Just do review and you'll pass midterm. One essay in class, but topics given in advanced. Extra credit opportunity. One short essay and one long essay at end of semester. One group presentation, but try hard and you'll get an A.

Shes an amazing person and an amazing professor. She wants everyone to get an A.

Easiest class I ever took, she is the definition of a good teacher. Best one I've ever had, there's a few pop quizzes but she will give you the answers if you ask.

Rocky is pretty funny. her classes are so super easy. i took her for AML and English 2, her research paper is held to high standards, but you can rewrite it over until you get the grade you want. I would take her again just because she's entertaining as heck.

Professor Rocky Marcus is very caring. I have learned that asking her is the best solution to pass this class.

She is an AMAZING teacher. She will let you rewrite all of your papers until you receive the A. Not only does that help you, but it does make you a way better writer. She also goes through basically the whole textbook and teaches you grammar all over again, which can be very helpful.

Great Professor, does not give due dates on papers. Will give you a D- on a paper you thought you got an A on, but gives you a chance to fix errors for full credit.

Only wrote two papers in her class. Got to revise all papers to get the grade I want. It is possible to get an A if you want to put in the effort. I rewrote my paper 5-6 times to finally get my A. and she makes her class super simple. just need to revise papers and once you get the grade you want you dont have to show up, or take the final exam

6 essays you are given more than enough time to complete and you can revise as much as you want. she extends due date if majority of the class agrees they need more time. when class is over she gives you about a week to turn in any late papers. easy going class

Mrs. Marcus is a wee quirky, but the fact I have learned so much on grammar, format, and style makes up for it. I was guaranteed an "A" in past English classes; but, she is the first to make me work for the "A." Infinite rewrites. Loves poetry. She does not use Canvas and verbally assigns, though. Great pick if you want to become a better writer.

Professor Marcus is great. She will teach you a ton. Her class is very laid back and not too difficult at all. Your grade is solely based on four essays, they get more and more difficult throughout the semester. She allows you to rewrite your essays but sometimes that means literally rewriting the whole thing. See wants you to earn the grade!

In this class lectures are laid back, Prof Marcus simply goes over things that are in the textbook like grammar and sentence structure(helps your essay). Your grade is ONLY based on 4 essays, and the topics get a little harder as you go along. You can rewrite your essays AS MANY TIMES as you want until you get the grade that you are satisfied with!

Professor Marcus is amazing. Taking her for ENC 1101 was one of the greatest choices I made. She grades tough on her papers, but its for your own good! She lets you revise papers as many times to get the perfect grade. Taking this course with her helped me get better at writing throughout the semester. Such a sweet and caring professor!

This is my forth semester at HCC and Professor Marcus by far, has been the best teacher I've had. She's s so deep and knowledgeable and you can tell she loves what she does. She did something very special for me that I believe has changed my life( she introduced me to the honors program). I will remember her forever!<3

Rocky is a very nice and caring professor. We only had 4 papers and she lets you rewrite them as many times as you want. She is a very tough grader but that is because she wants you to get an A. However, she does talk a lot, sometimes about random topics but if you like having long conversations go for it. Not many quizzes. Overall, she's great :)

If you take her get ready to work for an A. She lets you revise as many times as you want to get the A and even makes an agreement with you. If you make all A's on her essays which you write four she lets you skip the final. She talks a lot so if you are to meet with her during office hours or after class you will be there with her for a while.

The most caring teacher ever! You can keep revising essays until you get the grade you want. As long as you're working and trying she'll help you and be lenient. Shes a tough grader, but she sends great feedback for revisions. Great teacher if you want to improve your writing.

I think Ms. Marcus was a great professor but to me, her directions weren't very clear in my opinion. Whenever I emailed her, she would explain things better for me and wouldn't make me feel bad for asking questions unlike my other Professor for ENC 1101. She was easy to talk to and wants you to pass! She's really sweet so don't be scared.

She was the best professor I have ever had. She is so kindhearted and sweet. She wants you to succeed and she gives amazing feedback. Her classes are very fun and aren't mandatory. She was very accommodating during a tough time I had and allowed to extend my due date. Take her if you can, you won't regret it.

I really enjoyed taking Professor Marcus this semester. She is definitely a tough grader but she lets you re-write all of your essays for a better grade. She's a little quirky and rambles a bit but she's funny and passionate about English and it shows in her teaching. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

Professor Rocky was the best teacher I've had for English in a while. She truly cared about every single student and pushed all of us to do our best. She lightened up the classroom with funny remarks and genuinely made me look forward to her classes twice a week. The work load isn't heavy at all. I'm going to miss having her as a teacher 100%!

I loved having Professor Marcus and found her to be a very kind and caring instructor. She is a tough grader but gives opportunity to resubmit assignments that she provides considerate feedback for. I truly learned a lot in her class. It is evident that she is passionate about English and I would definitely recommend her class.
