He sucks..... when u send him email and ask him questions, he just tell u to read the book!!! the assignment is not hard though.. but that's not his business...

Not willing to try to help you understand. Short responses to e-mails even though his profile says that he understands the challenges of distance education because he has taken it. Short responses pointed you to sections of the text without any effort to help you clarify your understanding.

Worst tutor I've had at TRU! His comments r condescending & rude, don't bother reading them b/c they won't help you. I really wish they kept Carbonetti 4 this course, at least she was an expert in the subject unlike this pompous guy. If u r stuck w/ him, my advice is to never question or disagree with him & find another student for feedback instead

This is a first year course. SO how come between three 4th year students that TRIED to tutor me, none of them could?! This course is VERY difficult, and I wish I would have never taken Macro through open learning. If I pass, it will be a miracle because this prof is completely useless when it comes to student support.

Rocky replies quickly and is a fast marker, but there is very little teaching or support. Answers back were short and not particularly helpful. Basically, it's "here's a textbook on an extremely tough, subjective, subject.... GOOD LUCK!". Format needs review. I am a strong student with a 3.64 GPA and just barely passed this course.

This review offers very little marginal benefit (heh) because the previous reviewers have done such a good job of enumerating Professor Mirza's faults. In short, Mirza is the worst professor I have ever had at any institution, ever. He is not at all helpful in his explanations and his grading is just ludicrously harsh. Avoid if at all possible.

This course was about copy and pasting answers from the book - do not answer any other way. No original content - not a great course at all.

I am a 4th year UBC engineering student. I took this course for credit. This prof was by far the most unsatisfactory professor Ive had at any institution. I did well in this class, but should have had even higher marks. He would take off marks when my answer was saying the same thing his was, it was just phrased differently. Big time joke class.

His question assignments were very vague and difficult to understand what exactly he was asking for. Even if you copied word to word what the textbook said he expected you to give a scenario even though he never specified in his assignments what he was looking for or in his feedback. His answers to the questions would be in scenarios.

When I took this course my first prof gave me the following marks on my assignment. 75,95,88,95. Then he goes on vacation and Rocky takes over. The remaining assignments were 68 and 60. Having read all these other comments and seeing the trend in my marks he has to go.

Rocky Mirza is by far the worst proff i have seen in my life. Although i work hard enough to pass his course and do write what he exactly wants but in different way, he just needs his own words. Copy paste is the ebst thing to describe him.

Rocky is a disgrace of a prof. Incredibly difficult for an introductory economics course. He doesn't provide any support, never replied to my emails for help. Grades assignments subjectively and cuts absolutely no slack with grading. If you're thinking about micro and macro, stay far far away from TRU.

Rocky is one of the worse profs I have had. He does not answer emails, he is sadly one of those professors that are obviously too lazy to teach, he doesn't care about the students and marks on judgement. I am sad that TRU hires such terrible profs. What is happening to our education??

Awful. Rocky is arrogant, unhelpful, and if he does bother to respond to questions he does it incredibly rudely. He's unreasonably difficult for an entry level set of economics classes. I tried to talk to him to figure out what I was doing wrong and all he did was speak down to me, and didn't actually give any guidance.

He is not at all a helpful teacher. Hardly replies to the emails. On asking again he says read the chapter I mean what is the point of having him If always the answer is read the chapter again. I took this course 2nd time in thompson rivers thinking I will get a better professor the next time.

This guy doesn't respond to emails for a ONLINE COURSE and he also has multiple answers for multiple choice questions, I'll clarify. On the practice set questions (which has the same questions as the practice exam) the solutions are different for the exact same multiple choice questions. To make it worse, he doesn't clarify through email.

DO NOT TAKE ANY COURSE BY ROCKY MIRZA. He is, hands down, the WORST prof I've ever had. He will literally rephrase exactly what your answer was, and dock you half points since it isn't exactly how he would have answered it. Any questions get the response, "Answer in the textbook". Like to prove entry-level ECON students aren't as smart as him.

I hope you read this before you decide to take Macroeconomics through TRU. It doesn't matter what you respond with for this guys assignments, he wont give you more than 75%. I understand everything and normally am an A student, but one little slip up in wording results in an arbitrary 5 marks taken off per question with confusing feedback.

The most unfair marking I have ever seen in my entire student career. His feedback and grading criteria follow no known structure and he never gives above a 75. I had the exact same graph and only received a 15/20. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Even if you copy the original sentences from textbook, you won't get full credits. Extremely heavy workload in Final and 3hours was not enough to write the test.

I don't know if its the course itself , the prof or both, but this is my 3rd time taking a course with him and think its him. I've never had to email a prof about every assignment before (there multiple parts I was told not to do since they arent covered) and the quizzes are impossible to get 100% cuz they are full of errors. Material is ezpz.

Nature of economics, there's more than 1 way to answer. I.E, there's numerous bivariate factors that can contribute to inflation such as money supply, costs, exchange rates... However, if you answer correctly but a different answer than he has in mind, expect 0%. 8 yrs after graduating, he stands out as the most unreasonable prof I've ever had.

A quick glance at this page suggests this teacher's actions are generally harmful to students. I wasn't impressed with his understanding of economics either.

Before registering, ask for different instructor. Follows economics so blindly, he's unrealistic. Gives you 0% for answering realistically. I.E., minimum wage increase can cause inflation, but if economics theory says money supply controls inflation, realistic alternative answers get 0%. 24 courses GPA, 4.11 (A). But 2.78 (B-) in his. Unreasonable.

This professor is a tough one... I don't understand how he graded my work, in other courses my work usually can get 80-95, but this ridiculous prof only gives me around 50??? I don't know what to do now...

Useless prof. Had to email him multiple times regarding assignments and quizzes because the questions were full of errors that he wont fix. Tried emailing him regarding clarification for what to expect regarding the finals formatting and his response not only didnt answer my question, but was also rude and condescending about it.

I've gone through some tough courses, put in the effort and received grades that reflect the time I put in. Rocky will make you feel like your effort is being wasted. If your wording is any different from how he puts it, you will be wrong. They say "Don't plagiarize," but that's that's also how you'll get full marks. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Self paced online course, but its like none I have taken before. There is no input or interaction with the instructor. He has summarized each module/chapter in about 500 words and expects us to read the chapter and answer the questions/assignments Zero interaction. No group work. No case studies. Read the book yourself. Why would I pay for this?

Dont do the course with this professor. Take a withdrawal if you can. Not sure what he is looking for. He thinks he is the only one who understands economics and students are just stupid. Someone really needs to give this guy a reality check.

Don't use your own words. Copy it from the textbook. If he doesn't like your question he ignores you and your emails. If you don't need to take this course, don't. The textbook uses awkward wording. There are spelling and grammar mistakes throughout the textbook and moodle. Missing answers in the practice assignments. Lazy and arrogant.

Be prepared for no help, incorrect info all over the online material that causes you to be more confused, and a teacher that is full of excuses for his lack of responses. Sorry you have other students that need help, isn't that what teachers sign up for? After days of unanswered questions, I asked where else I could get help, he said hire a tutor!

Its a very thrilling experience for me. I completed the course in less than 30 days. Confusion and information overloading are the best description for his class. Deriving answers from textbook for his assignments seems useless. The test is 50 percent of testing theory with heavy focus on elasticity. Its almost like as if other stuff is irreleva.

The worst. Do not take this class with him. He refuses to help. Will give you zero if you don't copy answers directly out of textbook. Extremely harsh marker. Can barely get above a 50% on assignments. I've never had such an awful teacher.

I shouldve taken reviews of others more seriously. Unfortunately, despite all the efforts and struggles this course was a complete failure. First of all, dont bother with the textbook, there isnt much info that relevant to the Final exam. If you have a solid background in Macro, you will pass but even then the prof will give you anxiety.

I will be retaking Macroeconomics but not at TRU. This prof is not supportive of his students at all, he mostly cares about his ego and not really teaching. In his world he is always right.

His marking is very unfair, to the extent that I wondered if he even read my answers. The course is poorly compiled, with errors and incomplete information. I had to search youtube to understand many topics as his explanations are unhelpful. I put in much more time on this course than any of my others, yet my GPA is going to take a big hit.

Two assignments in I decided I should look at what other students thought of him cant say im surprised. After receiving a terrible mark on my first assignment, I figured maybe I messed it up and put 3 times the energy into my second assignment, but after receiving the same mark (with little feedback) i realized he was the problem..

SUPER hard grader, final exam was nothing like the practice exam. Assignments were really easy and I aced them all without a ton of effort, read the textbook !

Rocky has zero care for your success. He will offer you absolutely no support. His assignments and readings will not prepare you for the final. ****ONLINE COURSE**** Feedback to assignments clearly cut and paste. Tone of his feedback was harsh, short, and almost rude. He took a very stingy interpretation to my words. Really not helpful or encouraging. Feedback to this instructor is consistent on this webpage. Why is he still employed by the university?

15 years after taking his course, I'm astonished he still has a job. Most unreasonable one I ever had. I.E., hyperinflation we're experiencing now, Bank of Canada attributes it to supply chain issues and Russia/Ukraine effect on commodities. But he gives you an F for correct answers because he seems to have no knowledge of real life economics.

This professor is definitely the worst instructor I have ever come across in my years of education. He is rude, condescending and does not care for your success. He will ignore emails, give short and unconstructive responses. He does not like to explain himself, if you have questions regarding a concept just "move on".

He's one of the worst profs that I've ever had. He's a tough marker who takes marks off of not following ambiguous/nonexistent instructions. He's rude, often states that ur opinions are wrong, and u will receive a bad mark if ur arguments go against his beliefs. You'll also lose marks if ur references go against his beliefs. It is not you. It is him. If rocky mirza takes a class taught and graded by himself, he will fail. No doubt. Nothing will ever be good for him just like he will never be to his mother (or literally anyone else).

Dr. Mirza was entirely unhelpful in every single way. Feedback for assignments was nonexistent, emails were incredibly short and snappy. TRU as a whole provided no other place to get help or feedback on assignments. There was a mistake in the Final Exam practice test answer key. The actual course was fun, and the assignments were good though.

PLEASE do not take this prof. I wasted mine $500 by enrolling in his class; he doesn't like to give out marks. Very short and unprofessional replies to email. He does not provide any support related to the course questions. Spent more than three weeks for my 2nd assignment, for getting 50% on it. The topic wasn't even new for me.

You write the correct answer to a question and he only gives you like half of the points for no reason. His comments are your exact answer in just different words and for some reason you still get only half points with no other explanation. He is such a tough grader and I put so much energy in writing my answers and he still marks it wrong.

Professor Mirza is generally rude and unprofessional in emails and feedback. Assignment criteria is unclear. Be prepared to read and write. Lots of reccomened work but not for marks. Lack of exam is a plus.

Worst professor I have had. I would never take another course from him again. Takes marks off for his ego. Does not give any explanations. I lost marks for using a texbtook definition because he said it was incorrect, and then he offered no other explanation. He said it was my responsibility to find the right definition. I have no pro's for Mirza.

The assignments are long, be prepared to study. The Final is nothing like the practice exam and the interface makes it difficult to write the answers properly. Please do not take this course with him unless you have no other option.

He doesnt know how to give feedbacks and even his assignments seem easy but he doesnt give marks, if u can then dont take him.

Rocky is a horrible professor who should be fired and stripped of his right to teach. If you can avoid his classes, do yourself the favor. Be prepared to get absolutely horrible marks on everything, god knows nothing will be good enough for Rocky.

He is specific with what he wants to see and how he wants it structured. Even with the correct answer you will get awful marks until you follow how he wants to see it. Highly recommend requesting the course rubric and understanding what he wants to see

Prof. Rocky Mirza is very difficult to work with. He showed a lack of interest in helping me understand and enjoy the course topics. Via email he showed a lack of respect and was very dismissive. I will never recommend this course or university to anyone as long as he is employed there. This course brought more stress and anxiety than anticipated.

Worst teacher. I was going to take economics as a minor and he put me off the whole experience. He crosses out your answers and rewrites the same thing. I went to advising to complain and they were not helpful, sympathetic or looked into the issue; others with similar complaints ect. How is he still teaching? Are online professors not audited?

His assignments are bad and his grading rubric seems to be "screw you and your efforts". I strongly recommending avoiding anything with his name attached to it.

Very tough marker for assignments that are 100% theory based. Seems like no matter what you write he'll find something wrong and doc you half marks. Go in expecting to fail each assignment so that you'll be happy with a 60 despite weeks on studying. It was very discouraging, which is a shame since the material is actually quite interesting.

While economics is a valuable and exciting subject, I have never experienced a professor as dismissive, unclear, and discouraging as Rocky Mirza. His teaching style weakens students' confidence and makes it difficult to build the foundational understanding needed for future courses. Communication and course design were confusing and disappointing.
