He was a great teacher very relaxed and easy to talk to. And he made a class that was totally boring pretty interesting.

Mr Freeman takes you step by step on what has to be done, especially for your final(this was great!). He makes the class interesting by showing movies and telling stories.

Good stories. Not sure what the class is about, but I guess. Not difficult.

I have noticed that his favorite word is Damn. If you really pay attention to it, Mr. Freeman will say "Damn" at least once in a class period. He's funny and nice, he could have kicked me out already but hasn't. I like to talk and my sister and I keep getting in trouble, but he still hasn't kicked us out.

Rod Freeman is the most intelligent and insightful instructor I have had the pleasure of listening to and speaking with. Not only does he have an extremely high level of education in all areas, but has had incredible experiences in life that we all can either relate to or appreciate. He is the reason I transferred to EMCC and changed my major.

Freeman's Lit class is awesome. I took his 101 last semester and learned alot about writing and about argument writing. Very caring office door always open! Cool!

MAde ENG as interesting as possible. Sometimes a little off topic but still fun. He isnt always really clear about assignments so ask qustions, But very forgiving if you make an honest mistake. overall GREAT teacher!!

I had useless teacher in HS and tried another 101 Mr. Freeman's comments on my papers really helpd me. I got an A! First time! I just had to get over blaming everyone but me for my writing problems. Highly recommend him (lots of mythology refs which are pretty cool).

Excellent professor!

Freeman is an insightful instructor who 'thinks outside the box'. If you need checklists or have OCD or are a type 'A' person who does not want to learn, DO NOT take his class or waste other student's time. Freeman does get frustrated with stupidity.

Recommended instructor. Learned a lot about writing argument research papers on wide range of topics. A thinking class! Lots of writing & detailed constructive feedback.

Probably not the best choice for people who struggle with basic grammar and research papers. His lectures don't have much to do with English, but as someone who writes well and despises English I really enjoyed the class. I had to meet with him after every class to understand the assignment, but I got the A I worked for. Overall good class.

Excellent online instructor. Very helpful instructor. Grades assignments immediately and very thoroughally. Great materials online from travels and presentations online he has made as well as his artwork and painting. Ask about his macaws, his artist wife and english literature!!! Very focused on art, literature,religion some philosophy and history

Rod Freeman is the best instructor on campus and this was an extremely interesting class! I love the class discussions and the assignments are appropriate for college level. I think some students in his class may be having a problem if they are not paying attention (i.e. Myspacing or on their cell) but that is their problem. They are just lazy!

Best online instructor! He actually responds! Most online instructors at EMC and Rio are pretty useless. Freeman really really is responsive. I am the student from hel asking questions snd he was always there!!!! Highly recommended!

Freeman is a very easy grader even if the assignment is late. He tends to share a little more information than he haves to, but it's sort of interesting. Really funny and nice guy.

Had him for ENG 101 and 102, he's awesome, understanding and willing to work with you in order to help you pass the course. Alwasy has great stories and explains everything very well..I definitely recommend him :-)

Easy, im actuallly on the computer in his class as we speak. I never pay attention and i have 120 percent. If you fail this class you should probably drop out of college, just saying.

Rod is a great storyteller. I don't care for his Powerpoints and book work. However, he is a great "freestyler." His lectures are great, informative, and entertaining. Good teacher!

Mr. Freeman is by far one of the most intelligent instructors on EMCC campus. He clarifies detail from his stories to actual assignments. Mr. Freeman allows extensions on papers too :)

I am taking HUM250 this semester with Mr. Freeman. He's really nice, but he tends to go off on tangents when lecturing. He is helpful and does respond to emails. Just not as quicly as other instructors I've had. I would say his class is easy though and is willing to answer any questions. Loves it when someone is a dilligent student.

Professor Freeman is an awesome teacher. He's the only one I've had that actually cares about student success. He's very patient and my writing has really improved. I'm glad I took his class.

One problem I had was I was never quite sure what he wanted us to do, and it did not do much review on how to compose an essay. I was out of school for 7 years prior to taking this class so more review would have been helpful.

He is a great professor! I took ENG 102 honors with him and it was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken! Really good about grading papers and is happy to answer any questions you may have. Cant wait to take mythology with him next semester!

The greatest teacher I've had for my Mythlogy class. I'm new to Estrella and he knows his subject. For Mythology you are required to have 2 textbooks& honestly if you keep up with the mythology reading you're set for a guaranteed A. If you fail his class, something is wrong with you, his teaching methods could not be any easier or clearer.

You either love this guy or you hate him. Some say he is boring and goes off on a tangent, but I always looked forward to his classes. They were not something to cause stress like most other classes, but something that opened my mind. It is the easiest class you will ever take. Sit and listen to him in class and write 3 papers the whole semester.

Professor Freeman is awesome. If you pay attention in class you will definitely benefit. I've had him for 5 classes and I learned a lot. He really helped me become a better writer and now I'm more successful in other classes.

Hes a good teacher but make sure you keep on track with the assignments. He assigns a lot of them. But ,mostly easy.

Freeman was super cool and nerdy and so he was really fun to talk to but his class could get a little boring. It was definitely an easy grade though. He assigns a lot of easy assignments and if you do them and turn them in then you will get an A no problem. You might fall asleep during one of his long lectures though.

Freeman is one of those teachers that is extremly passionate about his job and what he teaches, which made a required class that I didnt want to take more enjoyable. Overall his class was fascinating.

Mr. Freeman is a pretty cool guy, and is definitely "nerdy." Although his classes can get a bit boring throughout the lecture, he is still a nice, helpful, and fairly funny guy, and makes class interesting.

Very great professor! Took his 4 week summer course, paper due every Monday and little assignments throughout the week, but show up and pay attention and you're guaranteed an A. Definitely loves to talk, but clarifies everything.

Rod was awesome! The homework and tests challenged me and really pushed me to study and listen to him. Every lesson was like story time and his love for mythology came through. His passion was infectious and not to mention he was funny. I would recommend him to anyone.

Fantastic Professor! took class in the summer and he really made it easy to write long papers. He takes the time to cut it down to parts and by the end of the week your paper is done. I did learn a lot about structured and formatted writing from him. Great all around dude

I would highly recommend Mr. Freeman. I took his ENG101 and will be taking his 102 in the spring. He is passionate about what he does and is an interesting individual. Very clear with assignments, breaks them down for you. He gives good feedback about how to improve. Very encouraging. He obviously loves his job.

Great professor. One of the best I've had so far. Always open to questions and always willing to clarify anything. Grading criteria was simple and easy to follow. Really easy going and flexible when it came to assignments. I would definitely take his class again.

Professor Rod Freeman is among one of the best English teachers i have had. He is the type of teacher that will tell you exactly what to do, and is ready to answer any questions that you may have. He is relaxed and will regularly share personal experiences that are relevant to the topics that are written about in class.

Freeman is an amazing storyteller. Very colorfull presentation graphics during class. His love of mythologies is inspiring. He does expect a lot enjoys research. All readings for course are online. His class is not for the lazy!

Mr. Freeman is great and his composition assignments are interesting and challenging. Be prepared to do research and to hear only 'authoritative sources' over and over. He is nice, helpful, has a great sense of humor, and makes class interesting. Course seemed easy because he made it very interestd.

Mr freeman is a great teacher works with you if you tell him what's going on for instance I went to school Monday - Thursday and every Monday we had to turn in a paper but I worked 12 hour shifts Friday - Sunday since I worked weekends he gave me till Tuesday to turn in my papers and I passed with an A so his class is very much doable *Pick him!

He is a very good teacher. He is there to help and he is very much understandable. Mr. Freeman is really tall and that cool. Participation and attendance should be a priority to the students in his class, its not a hard class just ask him if you do not understand the assignment. Enjoy the class!

All of the students highly respect Professor Freeman because of how amazing of an instructor he is. He will be willing to help out students with writing essays, obtaining information and research, and he will give creative insight to what he is being asked. His lectures are incredible and useful and new information can always be taken from them.

Freeman is amazing in Mythology. His tangents (as he refers to them himself lol) connect to a wide range of classes and careers. Immature students beware. and as some have said he does penalize the 45 minute cell phone/bathroom breakers and does not tolerate classroom disruptions. I've signed up for his Humanities classes next semester.

Professor Freeman was a great professor. He was easy to understand, and as long as you did your assignments and followed his criteria, you are going to get A's. Sometimes he even gives extra credit if you go above and beyond. I highly recommend his class. He's such a nice person, and very interesting!

Professor Freeman is a great man. This is the second class I've taken from him, and I plan to take two more next semester. His lectures are informative, and he gives heavy work, but it's nothing so long as you do your research and take time to prepare. He even personally went out of his way to help me with other things, including my job and major.

I'm duel enrolled in his ENH 251 and HUM 251 courses, which have amounted to four total classes that I've had with him. I rated him back in December of 2015, and my comments remain. He is still a great professor, a great man, and I am glad to say that I consider him a great friend as well. If it weren't for him, I never would have found my way.

Excellent instructor! I loved the class. He actively involves everyone in class! He knows his stuf. Interesting guy multimedia presentations and storytelling. A really fun but not easy class.

Exellent teacher! He is extremely clear on what he expects from the students and his lectures are really simple to understand. By the time you have to sit down and write an essay you really understand what you are doing. I recommend choosing him for English, especially if you have a hard time writing.

Outstanding instructor. He is very kind. definitately knows mythology. He explains the reading and really helped me with unfamiliar stuff (I was interested in myth before taking the class) now I have been exposed to even more ! Freeman is very patient, humorous (great storyteller), and deals with those annoying 'problem' students so class is fun.

Mr. Freeman is a fantastic instructor. He is a great story teller and compares what he is teaching to literature, films and just about anything he can compare it to. He gives many assignments but guides you so that your research papers are complete with the information needed to help you succeed.

Pretty nice teacher. Listen to the stories and do the work and you'll pass. Just make sure you meet the requirements. The lectures can get kind of boring, so try not to fall asleep, but a majority of the lectures/stories are pretty interesting.

He enjoys talking with the class and telling stories. Overall great teacher, class can get off topic at times and most of the work is done at home. There is an essay due about every month or so. What's nice is that you do pieces of the essay throughout that time, turn them in for grading, and then put them all together for the essay. Great classes!

He gives interesting prompts to write about and genuinely wants to help students improve their writing abilities. His mythology class is a treat, highly recommended.

Freeman is a solid instructor with a great sense of humor. He connects Mythology to other classes and life. I learned alot and enjoyed his class. I actually enjoyed the required readings and read alot of his recommended readings!He encourages students to participate but students just enjoy his stories and asides. My favorite professor so far!

I just finished his final today. Dr. Freeman is a great storyteller. He brings in outside material, draws on the board, shows video clips and art. I looked forward to class every day. He takes tangents but not off topic and brings them in very relevant tieing together my other classes. Very thoghtprovoking class but then it was an Honors class.

Really good guy. Took him for ENG101 and ENG102 and both of his courses were filled with good feedback, interesting topics for essays (give a very broad topic and you choose the subtopic, so to speak), and he was funny. Just show up and complete the 4 or 5 essays through the semester. Easy as that.

Cool teacher. No textbook he provides the material onlin I learned a lot even though I didn't get much help with writing in High School. Freeman really spent a lot of time with me outside of class. I had a lot of family illness and challenges and he worked me me. His class is not easy but he really did show me. I know how to write now. Very caring.

He assigns multiple essays but gives you every detail of information you must know first which makes it really easy. He is always willing to help and work with you.

Great instructor. He really connects things together: history, art, literature, psychology, architecture, music, theater, etc.. When I started the class I did it for the requirements. Great professor. He allowed the class to be very creative when it came to essays and always gave good feedback. Do well on your essays and you'll pass. Also, remember to follow his page count because he will take off major points if you don't.

Outstanding instructor. The best I have had. Clear assignments, creative, interactive, and I loved the RPG storytelling aspect of the class towards the end which ties it all together. I'm thinking about taking the class again even though I would not get credit for it LOL.

Prof. Freeman is one of my favorite professors. You'll learn a lot in his HUM class and he's overall, a really fun guy. His teaching style works well for the subject of the class and he's very clear on his grading criteria which is great. Just be sure to do your work. He'll always answer questions and clarify things. Prof Freeman was very awesome! Although I struggled to get to class a lot he was very understanding so long as you emailed him about it! He was a prof that made you feel very comfortable in class and partook in a variety of fun events! I learned a lot about literature and art. We had a Halloween party! Very fun. I had Professor Freeman for both English 102 and Mythology 251. He is an excellent professor for English and teaches you about the designated topics but not so much to where your creativity cannot flow, be sure to use perfect MLA 8 however otherwise your papers grade will fall. For mythology he used a engaging storytelling method.

I took Freeman's Film class and really learned a lot. His insight and experience in cinema is awesome and he clearly explains terms; techniques; and assignments. I watched films I never would have in his class and really appreciate early and modern films even more now. I will never be the same in the theater (a good thing). He really cares

If you're a nerd like me and get all the references he makes, he's actually really funny. That being said, I rarely found myself bored in his class. He also grades pretty fairly and gives good feedback.

Easiest A ever! Rod has an extensive knowledge in mythology & expresses him enjoyment but lectures do get boring. He's monotone, lectures are ppt, & shows videos relating to lecture. But his class is so easy. Show up, cause attendance counts, do the hmwk which is super easy, and you'll get an A. He loves to play Kahoot, uses it to review material

Mr. Freeman is a very understanding and sweet professor. As long as you communicated your situation with him, you will be ok. If you are confused, ask for help. He elaborated with me several times which gave me a better understanding for the assignment(s).

Freeman's class was really eye opening. I took this because I had his composition classes in the summer and liked his style. He is enthusiastic and connects history, language, literature, music, art, and more together. Very relevant and valuable class.

Easily one of the best instructors I have had so far! He is very well respected and very understanding when it comes to emergencies or excused absences. Be sure to communicate with him and he usually will make adjustments that will help you. As long as you use authoritative sources for your papers, and follow the MLA guidelines, it's an easy A!

Gone to online class from in class. Freemans been sending constant emails to update us and encourage us. Extremely organized & good, detailed, and feedback on each assignment even before all this viris stuff. I emailed him with a question this afternoon got a reply < 10 minutes! Wish my other teachers were this involved! highly recommend!

went from in class to online im sad i dont get to see him perform & draw his pictures as he tells myth stories but i feel really involved online. maybe i have more time to read & do research. i hope he'll do more webx its nice to see him live and hear his soothing voice but lots of students cant be present at a specific time now. highly recommended

Mr. Freeman is an excellent instructor I have taken every class he offers. There is an assignment due pretty much every class day. Assignments are quizzes tied to the text and class presentations with a reaction activity tying them all together for the "bigger picture." If ready to learn and see how everything is interconnected take his class!

I wanted to take his face to face class but it went online because of the pandemic. He is an excellent teacher online. Responds personally and immediately and has lots of presentations he has made with voice overs. I learned a lot and am disappointed class is over. Excellent instructor I will take every class he teaches if I can!

Cool history, writing, humanities course. Prof Freeman is an artist gives examples from his own work in stainglass, painting, prints, and talks about lit, architectures, sculpture linking it to history. Fascinating class. He doesn't lecture it is more of a discussion. Class became online and he was great! I'm taking HUM250 (pt. 1) next semester!

I had this professor for a mythology class. It was one of the best classes I have ever taken. Professor Freeman is really nice, I had many discussions with him about Norse Mythology and stories. He is also really open to learning about new topics or listening to alternate versions of legends, lores, and myth!

Rod gives really vague, general prompts that you can take in whatever direction you want. He also formats his assignments in such a way that, as long as you give it thought, the paper really writes itself. His lectures aren't crucial to writing the paper, I would ask if I could skip class and just work on the paper. Provides clear & prompt feedback

Excellent professor. Not easy grader but learns a lot from his class. Open ended assignments which are nice with specific work (online COVID-19 guess has a lot to due). Very inpirational and organized (not to be critical but my other teachers werent so much). Do the work, follow rubrics, ask when you need heels youre good. Highly recommended

This professor is someone that I would probably be friends with if he wasn't my teacher. He's super funny and is just a really chill guy all around. The only thing I do have to say is get ready to read for this course because he uses the textbook very often.

Excellent instructor. I took his ENG101, Mythology, and now ENG102. For me his instructions are crystal clear. I learned a lot. I follow his assignments and they build the paper step by step. I don't wait until the last minute to work on assignments and ask for he answered immediately and I am more than fine. I feel I can really research and write!

Great professor. Very knowledgeable. No textbook to purchase he wrote his own materials and uses online library readings. Lets student explore what interests them but you learn foundation of world myths. Even covers superheros and scifi!

Had prof Freeman last semester for 101 and this semester for 102. He really helped me with my reading and writing. I want to take his class in person once campus reopens. A lot of great recommendations from friends to take his class.

Freeman has a great sense of humor and loves to incorporate games in class whenever he can. Very clear but let me choose what to write about within certain themes. Even though he said not to count on it he was available to answer my questions and help me wekends and evenings sometimes.

By far the most humane professor I have had. He supports serious students. He is very student oriented and helped me through the class. It was not easy but he was there supporting me with the virus and other stressful family situations I had. I Highly recommended!

Grate experience!

Crystal clear instructor. If information is in the assignment direction he refers you back to it which is a little frustrating at first, but I learned to follow directions lol (wish my 101 instructor had done that for me!) Learned a lot!

Great film class. Watched some classics and some new movies. Learned how to write critique and make my own short film.

Great class! Took his ENG101 too. I learned a lot.

Cinema class is very interesting and I learned a lot--even made my own short film as part of the class! I will take more of his classes.

Pretty straight forward, emails back in a timely manner. Doesn't grade super hard nor easy, and grades per rubric. There are a lot of assignments but it's manageable.

Excellent instructor. Signed up for his class because of recommendations from family members who took his classes. Not sure how it was relevant but he connected all parts of the class and material to real life. I am very thankful I took his class. I actually see the world differently!

i enjoy films and was looking for career in industry. freeman really showed us some films we had never seen and explained the film crews and production and cinematic techniques even guided me through making my own video i posed on utube. great fun class.

Excellent class! Very critical resoning oriented class. Not easy by any means but not impossible and he makes the class interesting with his guided writing topics and using step by step building blocks for the papers. I learned a lot and it helps me with my other classes! Highly recommended.

excellent experience. He connects history, mythology and real world connections. I have learned a lot from him over the years (taken a number of his classes) and he does tend to talk about how adores his wife a lot (but it id cute), but he teaches in a very a-political way. Very thoughtprovoking. highly recomended!

Freeman personally greets students every class. A very kind guy. Amazingly connects history, mythology, lingistics, literature, religion, science, superheroes together. I love his class since I really learned how everything connect. His personal stories are awesome. He sure adores his wife and mentions her in his examples in class. Excellent!

Honestly I was struggling with this class and almost failed it but this professor rounded my grade up to a C and for that he gets 5 stars from me.

I learned so much from his class. Excellent experience. As he said "I don't want to tell you what to think I want to teach you how to explore information to think and draw conclusions." (or something like that lol) Very un-woke and very open minded professor

I've taken his Cinema, Mythology, ENG101 and 102 classes. Very thought provoking courses. I'm taking his other Humanities next. Very respectful and informative teacher. Highly recommend

Professor Freeman provides great rubrics for his essays and engaging topics to choose from as well. This was a summer course so the workload was expedited a bit but never felt too unbearable, make sure to do all HW as it goes along w/ the essay. Overall I enjoyed this class and would take another course with him if provided the opportunity.

Professor Freeman's HUM 108 was by far the easiest class I've taken. There aren't too many assignments a week, and he primarily asks for short power points, summaries, and breakdowns of various topics. Resources and examples are also provided if you're ever needing a place to start. Highly recommend!

Professor Rod Freeman died recently. I just wanted to write this as a thank you to him for his efforts. His passion for his fields of study was infectious, and his commitment to excellence served as an inspiration for many of his students. He will be missed.

Great professor! His classes are engaging and challenging. The assignments are well-structured, and the feedback is super helpful. Definitely use resources like ChatGPT and unstuck study ai for study prep - they really made a difference for me.
