Great Teacher, this was his first year here. He is not a blow off professor. His class is really easy if you pay attention, but you need to be at every class so you don't miss out on quizzes. I would definitely take him again!

Used the book a lot so make sure you have one. Hates cell phones so don't plan on taking important calls or texting dring this class. Lots of class participation, be prepared to talk and understand. He makes it easy and fun. Show up to class, pay attention, save your tests (the final is comp. but comes from past tests :) Few take home tests as well

Sounds like the last rater is mad!! lol.. hopefully s/he is mad at herself cuz Prof Roc has been very flexible and helpful to everyone. As for the spanish stuff, maybe they missed or misunderstood when we talked about race/ethnicity! ha ha Prof Roc rocks!! He cares about his students and it shows. He is real with us and down to earth!

I have never had a class that was so much fun that I learned so much in at the same time. He is really a nice person and a great professor. OBVIOUSLY the 2 poor quality raters didn't do so well in his class or constantly had excuses for missing!!! Prof. Roc is the best teacher EVER!! Exams are from the book, including the snipets on the margins, but easy if you pay attention. He gives take home test and extra credit!! Take him and you won't disappointed....he is GREAT!!!

Show him respect and he will do the same. If you go to class with your phone off, your mind open, participate and read alot you will do well. I highly recomend taking his class, it made my summer as best as it could be while in summer school.

Attendance to his classes IS mandatory but if you miss class, he is willing to help you pick up what you missed and make up assignments. I took this class in the summer and I would definitely recommend it because even though the class was supposed to be 2 hours, we got out early a lot and there were several days that we didn't even have to show up.

you will do well in this class..no excuses to make less than a C even if you are struggling...make sure you keep your class active and participating he is a professor that enjoys feedback from his class. if you make less than a D college isn't meant for you.

He is an awesome teacher! The take home test was time consuming but relatively easy, he gives you quiz grades that help pad your average. He is so cool and interesting in class discussions were so much fun!! If you have the chance to take him for ANYTHING do it!!!

Took Sociology just for fun and glad I did! He makes learning so much fun and involves himself with the class so lectures arent boring. Assignments are easy, tests/quizes..if you STUDY you pass! Make sure you read the chapters before he talks about them in class tho!! Great prof..Great class!

I took him for Anthropology. It was a great class. He's a really nice person. Gives some extra credit. I would love to take another one of his classes.

Professor Roc is an excellent teacher, he is extremely helpful and his class is fun and I was able to understand everything he taught. I would recommend you take him if you are thinking of taking Anthropology or Sociology.

BEST EVER! Roc is awesome. He is a real person who is very approachable. He wants his class to interact and to learn. His exams are take home/open book exams. He also gives extra days off to work on the exam. If you miss a class when something is assigned or due you do not get credit for the assignment but he says this the 1st day.Would take again

I took this class during wintermester although I made a D I loved this class its just so many chapters to remember and so little time. Mr.Callaway is a great teacher and breaks things down so were all able to understand.

Best Teacher Ever! I took his summer course and learned more then I have in any other class a did not even need to take Sociology for my degree. He focuses and relates just about everything through life experiences and examples which really help everyone remember key things for the test and quizzes. I wish there were more teachers like him. He is very understanding. If you have a problem with him or his methods you can talk to him. He will listen!

Very fun class! Makes soci interesting and is a very funny entertaining professor!!! Take him! It's not an easy A you have to work hard and do your weekly quizzes, but if you do that then your set!

He is hilarious and fully knowledgable on all content. He makes learning fun. As long as you show up, take your quizzes, and put in some effort, you'll surely go a long way.I don't think the book is REAL important if you're a good guesser, but all of the quiz answers come straight from the book, not the lecture.

Professor Callaway was very fun. Not a lot of homework only online quizzes. He is very big on class participation, so be prepared to interact with the class. You MUST read the book in order to pass the exams. He really breaks things down and helps the class understand. AWESOMEEE!

Class was always interesting, no matter the topic! Attendance is not a big deal, no classwork the whole semester. Grades only consisted of the 4 tests, the final, and about 12 online quizzes. I'd take him again though!

Professor Callaway did an outstanding job of presenting and teaching the material; he is easy going and easy to talk to. Must do all your online quizzes and modules, Must have the book. Exams are a bit hard if you don’t put the study time in. I recommend Roc for 1301 Sociology.

Very helpful, he's always willing to answer any questions you have. Reading each chapter in the textbook is vital in order to pass. Quizzes are easy grades, homework assignments take time but are also very easy. And always be on time and try not to be absent.

You have to show up, take your quizzes, be prepared and you MUST participate. Professor Roc has a low tolerance for people who do not participate. He will ask you to leave if you are rude or make unnecessary comments. This will be your FUNNEST CLASS if you just go with an open mind to learning.

He is a professional professor. He works hard for class, and you have to study hard too. Your grade depend on coming class ON TIME because all quizzes, paper assignments, exams have to turn in the first minutes in beginning of your class. All of these stuff do at home and turn in. I got A. Your guys will love him, i strongly recommend.

Goes by the name Roc. He's very funny and relaxed, and found a way to have the students teach each other while still filling in the gaps that we leave out. Online exams, but also online homework every night before class. I had an 8 week class, and i think i'm about to end the class with a high or mid B.

Roc Rocks! I took Roc for a Wintermester class, my first class at TCC. It did not seem like four and half hours for ten days. Show up early, stay for entire time, do your work, and you'll be fine. We had take-home quizzes, in-class activities, group presentation, easy homework, and open book exams. He's funny.

I had this professor over Wintermester. Thanks to Roc I was ble to understand the material and increase my interest in sociology tremendously. He is VERY clear and followed the syllabus to the T. I earned an A but I did ALL the quizzes and read ALL the chapters. Take him if you want to learn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

He's great. I took him for 8-week course. The first week of class, I was lost because I had no idea about the subject. He made the subject so interesting. He's funny. We had a potluck at the end of class. It was a great experience.

He is an amazing professor. I've taken him twice, once for the intro course and then again for the second part of the course. You have to show up and participate. Test and quizzes are easy. He makes the class fun and allows discussion. I would not have wanted any other professor. He's great!

Professor Roc is awesome. Like seriously as long as you attend his classes and take online quizzes and exams you will get an easy A. He gives exams online! The only time consuming part is the quizzes that are due every sunday. Take this Professor for a fun easy grade!

Absolutely AMAZING professor- incredibly professional and knowledgeable. Responded to emails quickly and he was always willing to help. The class was interesting- it was an 8 wk course so, of course it was fast paced and we had to cover a lot quickly but every assignment was easy- just requires time management.

He's a very teacher. He's interested in his subject, great sense of humor. He works with his students and helps you any time you need it. I LOVED HIS CLASS! This Professor is amazing! He is very good at making you remember stuff with the jokes he ties in with his lectures. During your tests you will definitely remember something he said in class that will give you the answer to some questions. His test are take home at times if you are on his good side so don't screw it up be on time to class!

I have never been any class like this. It is terrible; terrible if you don't take his class. He is so helpful and enthusiastic. He can cleverly put knowledge into your head blending with humor so that you cannot forget it. Learned a lot from him especially with widely realistic lessons. Better take in-class to enjoy wonderful interacting time

First let me say I don't ever do this but everybody needs to know that this is the BEST CLASS to take. Very helpful, fun learning and interesting. You won't regret that you had him as a professor.

I think Roc should teach all my classes. Then I may actually enjoy school! But forreal, take this class you wont regret it. He made sitting through 2 hours of class feel like 30 minutes! Lots of fun interaction mixed with learning you'll carry with you for a lifetime. Thanks for everything Roc!

Professor Callaway is one of the best professors you will ever meet in TCC. Quizzes and Exams were well detailed. Group Projects and Presentations were awesome. the best part of the class was the cultural feast. show up in class and pay attention to every detail and you will surely pass with an A+ in the class.

If you want an easy on line class this is the teacher. All test and exams you can do twice, everything is self explanatory, you cant not fail this class.

Very awesome professor. Gives you a clear and different view about society and the people in society. He's going to make sure you know and understand the Sociological Perspectives, how to apply them and view them through different lenses. And does NOT like for students to be distracted with electronics during his class. Take his class!!!!

Super easy class. Answers are straight in the book. You have a quiz per chapter and then every couple of quizzes you have an exam which is basically those quizzes combined. Also you do a DB for about every chapter. Sounds a lot harder than it is. You have to try not to pass. EASY EASY A.

Roc was the best professor I had at TCC. His 2 sociology courses forever changed me. I went on to switch my major to Sociology with a concentration in social issues, deviance, and crime. I graduate next spring and I hope to invite him to my graduation party. I have never thanked him for being an amazing professor. Take his class! Learn something!

AMAZING DUDE

Took his class for an online summer course. Very crammed obviously, but nothing unmanageable. There are quizzes and discussion boards for every chapter. Some test questions are very tricky and you need to pay very close attention to the textbook. But overall the course is easy. I completely recommend.

If you need to take Sociology, Prof. Callaway is an excellent instructor.

This online class is an easy A as long as you complete all assignments and follow his guidelines. The only assignments in this class were 14 DISCUSSION BOARD forums (42 total posts: includes 1 original post + 2 replies 3 posts in each DB forum), 18 QUIZZES, 5 TESTS (includes final), and create 1 PowerPoint. 1 DB, 3 quiz, and 1 test grades dropped

Your textbook is your bible. Make sure you read the chapter and don't just try to pass the quiz. His questions are hard enough that you can't typically just google it. But if you have read the chapter, should be fine. Ensure you go into detail on your discussion boards, and careful, he combines several DB into 1 week but they're posted individually

Great prof! Took his online class, easy to reach and we only had 2 weekly assignments: DB and quiz, sometimes 2 DBs and 2 quizzes. Quiz answers are on quizlet, you could probably wing the DBs without a textbook but I got one. No final exam just a visual essay which is really a picture powerpoint. Everything is due on Thursday nights, class is easy!

18 chapters in book, but they're not too long. You do a DB, 2 replies, and a quiz every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 1 midterm and 1 final as well as a powerpoint at the end of the semester (test answers are on quizlet and in book) He replies fast to emails and has clear expectations. If you read the chapters, you'll pass with flying colors.

This professor has to be one of my top faves. He provided the expectation and responded. He was very personable and fair. When I had to miss a test he told me not to worry about it as he dropped the lowest test grade. I'd take him again and again!

There are only 13 discussion boards and chapter quizzes(lowest grade dropped)which are very easy, two exams the same as the quizzes, and one visual essay which is very easy by the way. You do have to read but most is common sense. There is no way you should fail this course. Attendance is based on assignment submissions(early submission encouraged)

Though I never took a general sociology course, his "social problems" class was easy to get into and learn. The textbook was well written and powerpoints were provided. There's a lot to learn in a short 8week class, but it's definitely manageable. The DBs he gives are thought provoking and he encourages us to challenge our views.

Professor Callaway runs a well-structured class. Readings and assignments are manageable, and he provides clear expectations. unstuck AI was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook and PowerPoints.
