Excellent instructor, obviously cares about students
He is very down to earth, and knows how to teach to college students.
Friendly, easy to talk to, knows we're adults, laughs along
Rod is a good teacher, clear and to the point
king of fruit flies! shows the weirdest video in 376
The LAB KING! Puts up with crazy antics - learn a lot!
great prof. fun and easy to talk to. very clear.

EXCELLENT TEACHER. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
Great prof. Laughs with you and willing to help.
He is the best. His class is interesting & fun. Best instructor ever.
Morgan makes the class interesting and relates topics to current events. Very nice guy.
Morgan is awsome. I did was not interested in this class and he made it fun. He is very patient with students and always available to help.
funny, cool, very helpful; read test questions carefully tho; willing to help you out till u understand the material fully
Very cool prof. Genetics was a very easy class. He doesnt make u learn all of the hard details which made everything easier to understand.
Good professor, definitly recommended
his exams got harder through the year but he was a good prof.
He is a very good teacher however his tests do not match up to his lectures and study sheets. Not enough points in class except tests, quizzes and lab.
Prof. Morgan is awesome. His teaching style is great. If you just pay attention and take good notes everyone should do well.
Tests did not match up to lectures/study sheets. Tests & quizzes only points in class - no homework or things to turn in to bring up your grade. Should not be teaching a 100 level course!
Rod has a great way of explaining things! He doesn't expect you to know all the details, just the major stuff. He is always willing to explain again and again until everyone understands!
He is a great lab instructor! He knows the experiments and grades based on effort. Very fun professor to take.
nice guy
Awesome guy and awesome teacher! He really knows what he is talking about and relates things really well so everyone can understand. He loves when people ask questions and does a great job answering them. By far one of the best Biology teachers GVSU has. He's great to have for lab too!
He is a great teacher. I know why he gets good ratings. Always enthusiastic and ready to teach or help. Loves answering questions and does not go on unless he feels you understand. He also has some very interesting teaching methods. Now only if GVSU had more like him.Curious? Get him for a prof!
He is a good teacher, very nice and easy to approach. Tests pertain alot towards his lectures, not the book.
Professor Morgan is a great Professor. His tests are hard and he moves quickly in lecture. But if you are willing to go to his office hours he will help you out tremendously. I definetly recommond him for Bio 120
I loved having prof. morgan! He made things easlily understandable, wrote out all the notes on the board, and his tests pretty much came right from the notes. He made things interesting and was enthusiastic about this class. I recommend him!!!
Great prof. he is easy to understand and does a great job with notes. If you look at the notes after class and just study a little each day or so you will get a b+ of an A. Not a tuff class if you study. Take morgan if you can he is great.
8:30 am class and he was enthusiastic. Loves his job. Respectable and approachable. Challenging class, you need to study. Most test ?'s are from notes, but it can help to read the book a bit. REALLY helps to go to office hrs. I recommend prof. Morgan.
Great prof. he knows his stuff and wants you to do well. His will put practice questions on BB. Tests are not hard if you go to class. He is willing to answer any questions. i would take him again
Awesome Prof....I would recommend him for any class....Made lab soo much fun...you could tell he really cares about his students and how well they are doing in the class...AlWAYS makes sure we understand everything before moving on....I had a not so great lecture prof, but Morgan helped me get an A!
Excellent prof, one of Grand Valley's finest. He cares whether you understand and makes his lectures interesting and entertaining. Take his class and enjoy your semester.
Professor Morgan gave a good first impression, but he turned out to be terrible. He never admits he's wrong, even when he is. I am getting a better grade in chem 241 than in here, that's pretty sad!
Awesome Class. Interesting and challenging. Professor Morgan does a great job of making this class fun.
Dr. Morgan is a great prof for genetics lab. Teaches kinda high-schoolish, but grading is a little tougher, so make sure you know whats going on, and exactly how he wants things done. Nice guy!
I took this class in the 6 week sememster, it's really important to be prepared and Prof Morgan made that easier by giving us objectives and really good notes. His teaching style really helped me understand the material. I really liked him and I would take him again.
Morgan is very good at teaching a very difficult class. He is clear and concise. I would not hesitate to take him again, and I recommend him to all biology students.
He is an excellent professor. I earned a B out of the class and could have possibly earned higher if I would have worked to my full potential. Just go to class and take good notes and you should be able to get at least a B.
Prof. Morgan makes this class very easy. He gives clear concise notes and all test questions are taken from them. Interesting class and an easy class (well for a bio major anyway)
This class was by no means easy. I would study my ass off in the beginning and still did bad on tests. I studied for a month in advance for one test and received a 78!
I loved taking this class with Professor Morgan. He makes genetics fun;I enjoyed his lectures very much. Great guy, very approachable, intelligent, and never makes you feel like crap for asking silly questions. Not an easy course, but he'll do all he can to make the sure you understand.Take this Professor!
Very Good professor. Get him anyday over shontz! Morgans cool phrases include "Knee Jerker", "All that Jazz", "Heads up", "Dont Write Anything down!", "That lingo", "Full Circle", and his personal favorite "Who knows". Hes a great guy and very approachable!
Very easy Prof! Just study his notes and you'll do fine...although I wouldn't take this class if you are not a science major! The concepts could be confusing for someone who has never taken a BIO class before!
Fantastic guy. Genetics can be a very deep topic, but Morgan makes it fun and interesting. He spells out exactly what you need to know. Lectures are well run and highly interesting. Office hours are extremely beneficial. You can come to his office and he'll make sure you understand the topic before he lets you leave. Highly recommend!
Good teacher very clear. If you go to class and take notes you should be able to pass easily.
Good professor! Very clear and to the point. He tests on exactly what was taught in lecture so there are no surprises.
Professor tells you exactly what you need to know and nothing more. If you do the problems attend class and ask questions, you should do fine.
I absolutely LOVED this class! Prof. Morgan was a wonderful professor and made sure everyone understood the concepts before moving on. Exams were a little hard, but if you do the genetics questions, you should do fine. I definitely recommend him to everyone.
Fantastic professor! I'm not a science major and took this class because it was required and I was pleasantly suprised. He treated the class like a gen-ed, not a science major class. Every class started with discussion of science in world issues that interested us. He made class interesting and fun for someone who hates science. Highly recommend!!
Great Professor! The tests are difficult! He goes through notes quick but if very willing to go back an explain anything. Encourages you to read the text because he quizzes regularly. And the labs are fun and interesting. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Awesome prof., very down to earth and keeps things interesting! If you go to class and take notes, there is no reason you should get lower than a B. Maybe looked in the text once this semester.
Keeps Biology 120 lecture interesting and makes the topics understandable. He is very down to earth and is willing to help you succeed in his class when asked. I highly recommend him for lecture.
Dr. Morgan is an excellent professor! Very down to earth guy, he's very willing to help you outside of class. Take good notes, and you don't have to use the textbook. Signed up for another one of his classes just because he's a great teacher. If you're taking anything BIO, try to take Morgan!
Roderick was a great professor. He makes sure to stay in tune with what level his students are at and teaches at their pace. Definitely a smart dude, but knows how to teach people who aren't in the science field. He pushes you but isn't unrealistic. Plus… gotta love that salt n' pepper. :)
Morgan is a great professor. Very straight forward, never used the book except a couple times for clarification. Very helpful during office hours and during lab. He pretty much tells you what to study for exams. He also provides practice problems for you to do during the year which are basically the exam problems. Exams are easy, mostly MC.
One of my favorite profs so far. He uses the whiteboard rather than powerpoints, which forces you to pay attention and put notes into your own words. Perfect pace, we went over most things at least twice and every class session starts with time to ask any questions. Helpful study guides and practice problems, easy exams. I'll miss this class.
Prof Morgan is a great guy! He made a difficult class not only easier, but I actually learned a lot from him as well. He does "cutesy" things in lab, but they are very helpful ;) I absolutely recommend taking this prof for any biology course.
Nice guy that really does want his students to succeed. Favorite response to questions - "eeeeeh" - to show how much research is currently going on in this field of science. Exams are fair & textbook usage is minimal (do not need to buy). Overall, a fair prof.
Bring back the salt&pepper beard, 1010. That aside, great teacher, you WILL enjoy his class if you have any prior interest in the topics. Gives study guides, makes things understandable, tells you exactly what to expect on tests.
I LOVE his class. He simplifies everything down so that we actually know what he is talking about. He takes time out of class to go over what we already learned in case there are some who still don't get it. Uses a lot of visuals like drawing on the board. His teaching style was perfect for me.
He was a great lab professor. Always went over the lab and kept everyone on pace. Gave great feedback and initial information about the notebook and what he expected. Great Prof!
Great professor - made BIO 376 a fun course to take and definitely recommend!
Professor Morgan is an awesome professor! He made sure that everyone understood what was going on in lecture. I had to retake this class and I would recommend him any day. The other professor I had was awful, they really do make or break a class. We had to buy tophat, but got extra credit for it! Also, just a couple test and quizzes, gives help!!
Very good teacher. Always willing to repeat a concept several times so that everyone understands it. He did the unthinkable: explained the Kreb's cycle so that I understand it! I would take him again in a heart beat. I really enjoyed his class, and that says a lot considering the content. I wish I could have him teach me Biochem, organic, micro...
Doc Morgan was hands down my favorite professor at GV. Enough said.
Excellent professor! Explains thing in a very understandable way, and doesn't bog you down with unnecessary details. I loved the way he incorporated Tophat into his lectures- it helped with understanding. I would highly recommend his classes. My favorite GVSU professor so far!
Dr. Morgan was fantastic! He knew his stuff and was very conscious of the fact that only students that aren't in the biology field had to take this course and that it was a gen ed and treated it as so. This is so much better than all the profs that assuming if you're in their class, you must be pursuing their field of study. Fantastic guy too!
Professor Morgan is a great teacher. He is enthusiastic about microbes and really drives home the most important concepts that we can use to explain many things in our lives. He encourages discussion and questions and makes the class overall very fun. This is the first science class that I genuinely enjoyed coming to. Memorize concepts for exams.
Wouldn't take him again he was a much harder grader than other lab professors I've had before. Take a diff lab instructor if you can.
Tries to make it the most beneficial for students and understand other class work loads.
One of the most engaging and hilarious professors i've ever taken a class with. He's incredibly straight up about what is required for exams and lab exams. Not the most structured lectures; however, he makes sure that you learn what is needed for the exam. His lecture vibes are relaxed and he does an excellent job at explaining difficult concepts.
Dr. Morgan is great! He grades the assignments fairly and is very accessible outside of class and is willing to answer any questions. He genuinely wants you to do well. Take him if you can!
This guy is awesome! I'm an Accounting and MIS major so science isn't my strong point but he made it so much fun (for a 6-9) and kept us engaged in the class. He's super passionate about what he's teaching so it keeps you interested in the lectures. Super easy A. Just take notes on the lectures and reference the text book for terms you don't know.
Dr. Morgan is awesome. Science classes can be terrible if you're not a science major, but he taught the course in a simplified way that actually made it enjoyable. The tests were very fair, and overall the class was really enjoyable. I don't think there's a better honors science professor to take, so take this class.
Prof. Morgan makes this course very interesting and engaging for non-science majors. He is very nice, and will answer all your Q's! Biology is not my strong point, but he made the content easily understandable. There were a couple short "fun" in-class experiments. Grades are from exams, quizzes (fairly easy), and a short research paper.
He is a good professor overall, and willing to answer any questions. The class is made up of 3 exams, 3 quizzes, 1 research paper, and a final exam.
I always hated biology, but Professor Morgan actually made me enjoy it for once. His lectures were always engaging, and class typically ended fairly early. We also did some fun experiments in class (made yogurt, looked at pond water, etc). There was NO homework besides one 5 page paper on any topic along with 3 Exams, 3 Quizzes, and Final Exam.
If you take BIO328 in the summer, he is transforming it into a hybrid. This makes the class very paper-heavy, but it is great not to have to come to class as much. Morgan is a really nice guy and he really knows his stuff. He gives great feedback on his papers and although the class isn't impossible, he definitely makes you work for your A.
Dr. Morgan does a great job delivering content, but there is A LOT of it. Attending lecture was important and, even with great attendance, I used my textbook more in this class than any other. He does assign readings and WILL expect you to know information from the text. Mellow guy though, has a good sense of humor, and is helpful.
Don't take this class if you want to actually learn about biomedical ethics. He only grades you and gives feedback on the mechanics of your papers. The course consisted of five 500 word papers and one final paper. He did not organize this summer class well, which left most students confused and/or missing deadlines because they were so sporadic.
This class was very organized. Students are required to READ the syllabus in order to know when assignments were due. Papers were really easy to write and were based on our own opinions. Definitely visit the writing center if you don't know how to write a paper on your own. The professor doesn't have a specific format he wants (argumentative, etc)
Professor Morgan is an amazing teacher for lab. He walks students through every lab, and has you work on it in small chunks. Everything is taught in a clear and effective way, and he grades fairly easily. As someone who is always stressed over lab, I can say that Prof. Morgan made lab stress free and fun! Highly recommend, nice and easy professor.
Morgan is an amazing professor. I've had him for a few classes and it's been great every time. The content is HARD, but he makes it bearable. I would dread coming to class if it wasn't for him! His study guides are pretty clear cut and the exams are hard just because of the content, but he gives TONS of partial credit.
Hes by far one my my favorite professors here! He's so nice, understadning, and makes lecture/lab alot of fun and interesting, cant say that about many profs. He is very clear on what to expect for exams and doesnt expect you to know every detail but the main concept to your understanding. Hes a pretty easy grader I would say compared to most.
I love Prof Morgan. I have him online so I dont really know him that well, but I met with him for office hours and it was very obvious that he really cares about his students, beyond just homework. He is so understanding with mental health and gives extensions if theyre needed. Highly recommend taking his class if you have the chance.
Rod was a G. Definitely recommend to other gvsu students.
sweetest prof ever
Amazing, take take take.
I had professor Morgan for Biomedical Ethics online. The whole class was through Mcgraw Hill and connect assignments. If you don't mind doing those then this is the class for you. We had two writing assignments and one group assignment that isn't bad at all. Overall he's a great professor with clear grading criteria.
(I know he reads these in class sometimes to show students how hard exams are so hi) Exams aren't too bad, expectations are super clear (study the objectives sheet, I'd recommend flashcards) Theres no trick wording or impossible questions, and partial credit. Rod is a great prof, obviously very passionate about what he's teaching and a nice guy.
very vague, uses too many ellipses (literally...) and SBconnect, claims to be a negative grader but is lazy. I haven't learned anything which is okay to most people but has really made me feel stupid. Don't take this course if you want to be useful in healthcare (not "health-care", rod) prof brynes is better and actually makes you learn, its cool.
Professor Morgan's BIO328 class is paper-heavy but manageable. He provides helpful feedback and is understanding of mental health needs. Unstuck ai can be a useful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a solid course for those interested in biomedical ethics.
Literally just an online course where you work through the textbook, take pre-made quizzes and exams through the textbook. No lectures. No form of "lockdown". I learned nothing.
Professor Morgan always cracks jokes, and our class was always laughing. He does a great job taking an overwhelming amount of information (micro is tough!) and consolidating it so that what we needed to know was always clear. I typically struggle with this kind of content, but this class & Professor Morgan made me feel confident, capable, and smart
Professor Morgan is a very good teacher and makes really tough content make sense. Follow the test objectives and get started on lab notebooks early.
