awesome teacher....tests are a little quirky but great teacher overall!

Very willing to help in class. Fairly easy to understand. Kinda has the attitude that you should already know this stuff. Explains any questions you have on tests pretty well.

Reading quizzes at the beginning of every class, so you have to read the material before you come in. All test questions come from the reading quizzes. This is an easy A if you read. Lecture is based on reading. The only way to be lost in this class is by not reading. See the pattern?

This professor is awesome! He is very helpful and will explain something until you get it. He also creates Powerpoints for each chapter and makes them available for download. I hate taking notes in class, so this is a real plus for me!

Mr. Clayton kicks ass. He has very cool powerpoints and his fieldtrips are awesome even in the rain! You can tell he knows his stuff and is excited about teaching it. Clayton is a very good prof. His night classes are supposidly easier than the day. He gives good power points and if you read or just ask questions he likes that. He makes it very easy to understand and works with those who works and goes to school. I definatly recommend him. He'll defn' make you interested!

He is the only professor who provides Power Point slides for each chapter. He basically summarizes the chapter into easy to understand information. He also has a great sense of humor. Tell him "Geologists Rock"!

Prof Clayton is a wealth of info and goes far beyond the norm to make sure his students understand the material. I recommend taking both GOL 105 and GOL 106 with him.

Mr Clayton is one of the very best instructors I've had (and I've taken over 70 hours). He makes the class totally interesting and even FUN (Footwall Up Normal). His energy and enthusiasm for the subject is contagious. He really cares if you know the material and goes out of his way to make ideas clear. Get in line for his class!!

A very delightful teacher,I had him when he first became a full time teacher and though he seemed to just be getting comfortable.He was one of the best professor I have had.Every day in class he put in 100 percent to help his students learn well and have fun doing it.He has helped me figure out that I want career in Geology. Also easy on the eyes.

Absolutely amazing teacher, I took him for Oceanography and Geology. He has a relatable teaching style, and makes some boring material really interesting. You'll know what you're going to be tested on, and he'll offer extra credit if you want it. Definately easy on the eyes, makes you REALLY want to come to class (well, the ladies)!!

very good teacher. he was very helpful and understands that the class is boring, and tries to help out in any way he can. the hardest part is the first test on the rocks, then it gets much easier.

I was surprised at the amount of work that he says he does to make this course interesting. He tried getting us to work together in small groups. I thought this was really cool and helped me learn the info. better but when it wasn't working because of time constraints he just kept trying different ways of helping us learn the info. until we got it.

I thought this was going to be about a bunch of stupid rock but Mr. Clayton made Geo. more interesting. He made it clear that Basically the Earth want to KILL YOU! He was fair, certainly knowledgeable and didn't make the grades focus on just a few tests. He gave me every chance to prove that I understood the material. Because of him, Geology Rocks!

Mr. Clayton is a super cool instructor, he is very passionite about Geology. Very animated, he uses PP and views clips from movies, he is also very helpful, the test questions are all taken from the hw assignments and lecture questions. If you don't get an A, its all on you.

There are not many professors that will take time from their schedules to help a student on a one on one basis. Professor Clayton will. This is one cool Mickey Fickey. He keeps the class entertaining, and you will actually learn a lot from him. I didn't know that much about rocks before the class, but after taking it, I still retained some of the info. If you need a Science class, he is a must. He is just one cool Mickey Fickey! He also likes to break dance, and skate.

Clayton's a cool dude. He used to be a break dancer and his main degree is in Oceanography, but he's still a great teacher for Geology. He utilizes worksheets and powerpoints. The quizes and tests are all multiple choice, so you'll have an easy time if that's your alleyway. Don't come in late to his class or interrupt his flow.

Awesome teacher, best ive had while at TCC

For his lecture class there are 4 tests and 8 reading quizzes. Tests are multiple choice straight from the quiz, chapter summary questions, or handout. He gives out a handout each class that you fill in along with him. He is also the only one to use power point which makes the class interesting. Easy A!

Mr. Clayton is the man! He has to be the best professor/teacher I have ever had. He makes geology very interesting and Mr Clayton is very skilled at relating the information to real life situations. Study worksheets from class for the tests and know all the vocab and the tests will be a breeze. Make sure you get him for Lab!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Geology was the only science I could take, as a freshman, that worked with my schedule. I would have rather taken any other science. However, MR clayton MADE the class interesting. He is a great teacher; he worked at the students speed. I now recommend geology (with clayton) over any other science anyday. I really cannot give him enough credit.

I took Mr. Clayton for Geology 105 and 106. He is honestly the best teacher I have ever had. Do your work, don?t' be late, don't talk, and treat him with respect and he'll go out of his way to help you out. I definitely recommend Geology with Mr. Clayton over any other science.

Clayton is awesome! His lectures are very clear and he encourages us to ask questions. The more involved you are in the class the better it is and obviously you will understand more. His Labs are fantastic too! He doesn't keep you for the whole time. Mr. Clayton is not intimidating either. We need more young professors like him.

I am interested in Geology but only because of him; I had him for 105 & 106. He doesn't like memorization but expects you to know what's going on. He always prepares you for any tests/quizzes and helps with the lab tests/quizzes as well. Anytime you need help...he will be available. Superb example of what a Professor should be.

Had clayton for lab, WISH I had for lecture too! So funny, helpful, and keeps you interested. AMAZING TEACHER! I heard he makes detailed power points etc. for his lecture class. Most work is done in lab manual. Tests are fairly easy as long as you pay attention.

One of the Greatest profs at TCC!!! If any student writes something negative about Mr. Clayton (for example, 3 comments back) they must have failed the course, or they have a personality disorder (wait until they get to a 4yr college)! If the student showed up for class after it was cancelled, it's b/c they weren't present the previous class!

He is an awesome teacher He gives you worksheets as you fill out in class together and almost every question on the worksheets is on the tests so that is helpful. Does 5 points of extra credit that is added to your final grade. He is extremly funny and nice too!

Begins lab with entertaining, informative, easy-to-understand lecture, then explains exactly what you need to do in lab to gain experience needed for each upcoming exam. Stays until last student leaves to answer questions. Like his lecture class, he works very hard behind the scenes to make sure you get what you need to learn. OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR

mr. clayton is a real professor, and those are scarce. he loves his job and you are garanteed to learn. I am a forgein student, and went to him weekly for extra help, and he always came through. Great professor, great guy! If you answer his printed out lecture questions and study those your set, extra credit available, even an attendance grade.

I had this teacher for 104 and 105. His enthusiasm is definitely addicting, and it's contagious. Trust me, you wouldn't find another Geology professor that makes rocks seem interesting! I don't know how i managed to remember so much from his class. No homework. Easy tests because they match almost exactly what he gives u the answers for in class.

Great Prof! Loves his subject and it shows when he lectures. I had Mr. Clayton for 105 and enjoyed his style of teaching so much I took his 106 class. It was amazing and the most interesting class i've had! Mr. Clayton holds back in 105, and he goes all out in 106. Reading/lecture questions were extremely helpful when studying for exams!

Another professor recommended prof. Clayton. I am happy I took their advice. I had a great time attending this class. He went over all the needed material. The quizzes and test were easy if you studied. Getting a good grade is easy as long as you do your work and attend class. He also has some jokes to keep the class interesting.

This guy is hot, like a socially-acceptable nerd, but sitting through this class is soo boring because of the subject matter. A hot teacher only goes so far when you have to sit through four hours of a lab and lecture twice a week but if you like geology i wouldn't recommend anyone else.

Professor Clayton is a very passionate and dedicated Geology teacher. He is demanding though fair about the work required, definitely not a "gimme" class. He has a enhanced content package for sale on blackboard, which is the best money I've spent so far. Attendance is NOT mandatory although he does teach a very intense class. Best so far.

This teacher is by far the best teacher I have taken at TCC. I wish that he could teach all of my classes. He is great with his students and helps you when is needed. IF you need to have a science class I definitely recommend him!!

This professor truly believes in what he teaches on every level. He does not hesitate to assist in anyway possible & challenges you to think. Absolutely a great man. He makes this course so intriguing & interesting words can not describe it (yes its was that serious for me). I absolutely enjoy the class except for the labs (pain in my butt lol)

Took Clayton for both 105 & 106. Made Geology interesting and fun. His main goal is for you to learn and rememeber. His teaching methods are unconventional which is refreshing. He speaks to you, not down to you as many proffessors do. He is there to help and guide you. Best professor I have had through my TCC education. Highly Recomend him!!!

One of the best professors I have had my whole college experience. He gives plenty of opportunities for different types of information. Does not just read off power point or just make the students read the textbook and not go over information. To sum up, if you are thinking about taking a class with him, DO IT! You will not regret it.

Awesome teacher and wants you to learn. Come to class cuz some days u get hints for the exams. Explains details of course and has content on blackboard. If you don't get an 'A' then you are lazy like I was. Wish I could go back

Clayton is a very nice teacher who enjoys his class time with his students. I had a grand time in his summer class. Hes also said that the geology department will be switching this Fall(2013).

He is pretty laid back and the class is pretty interesting. All of his lecture notes are available on blackboard so you really don't need the text book. I used the book once or twice. If you want to learn a and get an easy A take Mr. Clayton. Attendance counts toward grade and quizzes that are missed can't be made up so you want to make every class

Dr Clayton is the best! Really cool guy and gives you everything you need to get a good grade. Gives review sheets during lectures and all notes are on blackboard. He is very understanding and getting to know him helps out a lot! Great guy and professor overall, highly recommend!

I highly recommend taking Professor Clayton for Geology 105 & 106! He makes it impossible for you to get lower than a B. He provides handouts to fill out during lecture and the tests and quizzes come from those notes! All tests were take home. Funny, entertaining and relatable guy who cares about his students! Highly recommend!

One of the best professors on campus. Loves his students and just wants to see everyone succeed, not only in his class, but in life. Very funny and has a great personality. Basically, if you don't pass, then you TRIED to fail. He's one of those professors you'll miss when the semester is over.

I have never had a more interesting and enjoyable teacher. I would take any class that he taught. Very energetic and entertaining as well as bright and enthusiastic. A joy to work with.

I have him for lab & lecture and love him. He's a great teacher which makes both classes easy. 3 tests, 1 quiz in lab. 4 tests, & a few quizzes in lecture. I get a 90 if I don't study. Recorded lectures to his powerpoints are on class BB. Never have used the book. He's full of knowledge and his lectures don't drag. Helpful. Also really attractive.

Great class! Knowledgable and works hard to convey that knowledge to students. His passion for the subject is obvious. Some test questions are tricky but many of the tests were take-home or open-note. Helps to look over the supplemental material he provides. Take him for lecture and lab if you can!

Mr Clayton keeps his lectures interesting. He puts power points for every chapter on blackboard. I don't know how anyone could ever fail this class!

He's nice when he wants to be, but he can also be "not approachable" sometimes especially if he's in a bad mood. The worksheets are OK, but don't depend on them to help you with the test. It's the book that will help! Quizzes are tricky. One test is open notes, some are take home, and another is no notes. Night class is usually leaves early. :)

Easy A if you pay attention in class. He provides worksheets on Blackboard. Print them all out and fill in the blanks as he lectures and you'll be golden. If you actually listen during lectures and fill in your sheets, studying is minimal. I just needed to glance over the sheets before quizzes and tests and had no problem making A's.

I took him for Physical Geology for the science credit as I figured it would be easy and just about rocks. At least partially due to his passion and outgoing nature, I actually enjoyed the class and geology as a subject. He was the reason I took Historical Geology. The other professors are okay, but if you want Clayton for lab, sign up EARLY.

Dr. Clayton is an amazing professor, clearly the best you'll ever have at throughout college! He loves what he does and makes each and every class interesting and fun. If you plan to take Gol 105 or any of his courses. Take it! He truly cares about all of his students and wants them to succeed no matter what you pursue in life.

He is a great professor; he truly cares about his students(If you have things going on in your life talk to him). He provides you with all the tools you need to pass his class,(everything he teaches is posted online so textbook isn't a most) but his test are hard, so it is ESSENTIAL that you study. Awesome teacher! Keep up with study guides that he provides online, study the power points before class if you get a chance. The answers for the study guides are found in the power point slides,not to mention the answers are underlined. If you need help don't be afraid to let him know! He's awesome!!!

He is an amazing teacher. He provides you with everything you need to succeed. It does require studying (hello this isnt 1st grade) but with the power point and reviews for each chapter, and his lecture you can get an A. You just have to put the time and effort into it. Make sure you get him for Lab as well. Sign up quick.

Dr. Clayton is awesome! Geology is my major so of course I find his classes interesting but for someone just trying to get their science courses out of the way I definitely suggest his lectures! He is extremely thorough and makes complicated things easy to understand.

He is very clear in his class. He also has videos showing what we will be doing the next class. Watching them are very helpful and gets you very prepared for class

Professor Clayton is an awesome teacher. His class is set up fairly simple but the material isn't easy unless you study. A / B students will get an A. C students looking for an easy A will still get a C, you're a C student for a reason. Study his handouts and quizzes. Not much out of class work. Take him for lab too!

If you're looking for a good professor he is definitely the one to take. Stick with him for both lab and lecture. Study his power points he talks on his powerpoints and breaks everything down. Lab is harder than lecture but if you study those slides he gives it is very identical to the test along with the handouts do that A every time

Excellent!!! His lectures are interesting and animated. His Lab is quick and to the point- we hardly ever stayed the whole time, but if you need help- he's there to answer. If you want to use the lab after class you can and he will stay nearby if you have questions. Don't be lazy- study the chapter notes before the tests and you'll do fine.

Good teacher but seemed distracted most all of the time. Overall I would take his class again, only because I know what to expect. Seems to be partial to certain students though.

He's a cool guy. The lectures were powerpoint so the info was always in BB if you needed it. Just print the chapter questions and he goes over it in class. In my opinion LAB was harder than the actual class.

Claytor is amazing, not only does he sincerely care about each individual, but he also truly wants to help people to succeed. He respects his students as equals unlike some professors who look down upon their students. He is an inspiration because he has been through a lot, but still has that fire and seeks to help all! I took Clayton for Lecture only in the fall and regretted not having him for my Lab as well! He makes everything understandable, and easy to do. Also, he gives ample time on your large project. The hardest thing in his lab was the Fossil test so make sure to write every word down that he allows and draw detailed & labeled diagrams! would recommend

Professor Clayton is an amazing teacher. He gives you ample amount of time to turn in his big projects for lab & is more than willing to answer any questions you have. Everything you need is in the power points & he gives you templates for the notes. Overall, great guy who is enthusiastic about Geology & is very understanding.

I took him for GOL 105 lab & lecture and then for GOL 106 lab & lecture for the Spring 2016 semester. I was a bit skeptical at first, considering science has never been my strong suit -- but he made it a very enjoyable subject. He gives you plenty of time to do lab projects and his tests are based off his chapter questions and powerpoints.

I don't know what that one person below is talking about, saying he doesn't clarify what's on the test. He posts lectures online and gives you study guides for tests, so he's more than clear and helpful as to what you need to do to pass. Also take him for lab! He's really nice and easy to talk to as well. I'd highly recommend him.

at the beginning of the semester I was doing really well, but then grades began dropping because I had other classes to maintain. This is a course where you really need to give full attention too. Its harder to take this class with other classes.

Super easy. Just show up and pay attention and you will pass. Easy A!

I highly recommend this professor as his class was not as difficult as I originally expected. He gave us pop quizzes for each chapter but he would let us use our note which mirrored the quizzes so if you show up to class and do the notes you'll do just fine. Really when it comes to labs you just have to pick your poison, this one won't hurt as bad.

Professor Clayton genuinely loves teaching and wants to see all of his student's succeed! He is extremely personable and down to earth! Most importantly he is knowledgeable and passionate about science and teaching! I had a great semester and I'm so glad I got to take this class. Prof Clayton Rocks!

Professor Clayton is fantastic! He delivers the material in a way you can understand, and its fun. Gives you ample time for class projects and all the information for quizzes and exams is given to you in class. Textbook is required to be issued by college, but you don't need it. Stick with his ppt and you will get an A.

You have 4 exams and the fourth is optional. . Your attendance is graded. When you start his class you have a 100% attendance and each day you miss 3 points are taken off. Two of our exams were open notes and three of our quizzes were open notes. He doesn't tell you until the day of if you can use your notes. He wants his students to do well.

Dr. Clayton is passionate in the subject he teaches and it shows. He has an interesting background and will help you be successful if you put forth the time and effort into the class. Read the book it will help greatly with the reading quizzes.

This professor cares that his students pass his class so he really helps you out with grades and gives extra credit towards the end of the semester, he is very laid back, steady quizzes that are easy to study for. Basically listen, invest yourself, and this class is an easy and fun time :) Take home tests in 106

One of my favorite teachers! He's got a great sense of humor, he's engaging, and really loves what he does.

He's good, he sets a clear standard of what he expects in class. Not too much homework, just some online timed quizzes. all of tests and quizzes are pulled from the notes that he walks through in powerpoints in class. He also let us use our notes for a couple of in-class tests.

GEO 106 was the 2nd class I had Professor Clayton. He is an amazing professor and if he taught Oceanography I would take the class. Professor Clayton makes the class fun and he explains everything. Also, if you can take him for lab as well... his lab is great as well!!!

Good teacher. He gives out sheets with fill in the blanks for notes. 2 out of the four test you can use your notes, and one is a take home. They are still difficult multiple choice tests. If you have a question be ready for a vague answer. He's got better things to do.

Dr. Clayton is one of the fairest and understanding standing professors I have had. He grades are very well outlined and his instruction are very clear. He does test heavily but they very simple if you see the pattern in his instruction. DO NOT SKIP CLASS.... He cares and does enjoy feed back from his students. He will not disappoint.

Dr. Clayton is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He sets you up for success. If you fail, it's really no one's fault but your own. He provides sooo many resources on Canvas for you that he took time to put together. Labs were fun and I loved his lectures. He cracks jokes and is just good energy.

Prof. Clayton does a good job of mixing knowledge retained with the workload. There is usually 1 or 2 total things due each week. He doesn't add things that aren't needed, and the hardest part is a beach project (Which half the class failed because they didn't take 5 minutes to understand). He is understanding of late work and wants you to succeed.

Show up to class, pay attention to lectures. Review notes before tests and quizzes and you will pass. Very enjoyable class actually and I learned a lot of interesting things. It's nice that he knows his sh*t. He is the easiest grader literally just do your work and review notes before the tests they are very straight forward. Also has a cute cat.

I had Prof Clayton for both lab and lecture and that made learning and understanding the material a lot better. He makes coming to class a joy and I always looked forward to our lectures. Prof Clayton also puts out chapter note sheets for you to follow along during each lecture.

Pretty great teacher, explains and uses lots of examples to explain new ideas, pretty funny and doesn't take himself too seriously. Sometimes he gets on tangents that are interesting and hilarious. Pay attention, and you'll be fine

This professor is hands down one of the best professors at TCC. All of his assignments are straightforward, if you pay attention in class and take notes you will absolutely pass this course. The workload is understandable and he makes sure you at least have enough assignments to fully understand the material. Amazing course!

Professor Clayton was the best professor I've had and is the reason I'm taking GOL106 next semester. I never realized how interesting geology could be and Prof. Clayton definitely showed how cool it is and made me want to take the next class. Very caring and straight up professor, he really does live up to his rating. Nothing much to say other than you should pay attention during lecture and take it seriously. Even though he is very relax doesn't mean it's a free course.

SO glad I took this class. His lectures were interesting and his (actually) good sense of humor during class kept me from being bored to tears. The tests are easy as long as you study. Would definitely recommend!
