Rod is the best professor I've had here at UVU. He really cares about your success, both in life and in the class. He is very understanding if you miss and lets you make anything up. Take every class you can with him!
Rod is hands down the best HR professor and we have a lot of good ones. He brings real world experience and stories and makes all the content relevant. Classes are very engaging and every assignment is applicable. No busy work! He will help you with anything and has great advice, feedback and connections.
Rod knows his stuff for HR. His personal stories make class much more fun and helps us understand the concepts. This class is hard because you're taking the aPHR certification exam and the exam is hard but worth it!
Rod knows his stuff for HR and his personal stories and experience make class better and helps you understand the concepts that we're learning. Group project is tough but helps you get a better understanding of compensation.
Rod is one of the best Professors in the HR department! He has the most real world experience and seems to know everything. Gives great feedback on almost every assignment. Wish I could take another class from him.
Rod is very experienced and gives great information! Rod is also clear and concise; we were not in class longer than we needed to. He did not ramble and class never felt like a waste of time. I appreciated his willingness to accommodate students. Awesome teacher!
He is one of my favorite professors in HR department. He is very nice, understanding, caring and always giving good thoughts.
Rod is awesome! He truly cares about his students and their success. He is very clear on his expectations on every aspect of his class. He is someone that you will want to have a connection with outside of class.
Rod is easily the BEST professor in the HR program. He has a strong talent for using his work experience to teach us the best practices of HR, and how to be successful in that field. Awesome Professor, and excellent mentor.
Rod is AWESOME. The HR Strategy course gets you ready to take the aPHR exam, and while the test is a difficult one, Rod gets you ready for it. Come to class, participate, and ask as many questions as you can and you will pass! He is an excellent professor and truly cares about his students.
Super great professor! He has a lot of passion for human resources and really knows his stuff and will help you anyway he can. There are a couple of group projects and case studies every class but just show up and do the work you will easily get an A.
Great class! Everything you learn is relevant to today's market and applicable. Takes time to really explain concepts and the process of tools provided, will explain things multiple times if needed. Replies to email in a timely manner and is always willing to meet with you to help in any way possible. He real goes above and beyond!
Rod knows his stuff and will give you every opportunity to succeed. A big draw for this class is getting aPHR certified, if your focus is HRM. In preparing for and taking the exam, you will be expected to read and understand the material on your own. If you read the book and take the practice exams you will pass the exam and the class.
One of the best professors at UVU. If you are studying HR and want the best ROI in tuition, take his class! Rod has HR passion, knowledge and love for this industry. He has great experience that has led him to be a great professor. He will give feedback, and give you the opportunity to be your best self. Great lectures and caring!
Professor Lacey is one of my favorite professors. He knows so much about every aspect of HR and really cares about helping his students. I would recommend any class that he is teaching.
Rod is an awesome teacher who is such an advocate for his students. One of the best teachers I've ever had. Take a class with him! Hes the best!
Rod was hands down my favorite professor. He cares more about you succeeding in the business world thens standardized testing. Every assignment and project is real world experience. LOVE him.
Great real world experience. Rod is great at helping his students succeed.
Rod is the best professor I've ever had! You can tell he's passionate about what he teaches which makes it a lot more fun to learn. He definitely knows his stuff but is so inviting that you never feel dumb asking any questions. The coursework is very relevant to real-world experiences so it has prepared me well.
Rod is an example of a professor that truly cares for his students. The class isn't easy, but there is no need to worry becasue Rod is going to ensure you are prepared. The group projects are straight forward and Rod will go above and beyond to help you.
This class is amazing. Since it is preparations to take a certification exam, it is to be expected that it is very test heavy and reading heavy. The class provides you with real world application of all the material you learn and has been one of the classes I have most enjoyed.
Rod is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable about human resources. You will learn a lot from taking his class. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Rod know a lot about HR from years of actually working in the field. His lectures are from personal experience and are very applicable. Big group project which counts for the largest portion of your grade. Project requires a lot of work, but Rod will do everything he can to help you succeed. Very caring professor.
Out of all the HR professors, he's the best (and my favorite)! I would definitely recommend taking courses from Rod--he's nice, caring, and hilarious! He shares great personal experience from his career and goes on informative tangents. He wants you to do well in and out of class and he's willing to work with you so that you're successful.
Rod cares about your success and helps you do your best. The group project is the majority of your grade and he typically ends class early so you can work on it with your group! I wish he taught every HR class!
I have taken many classes from Rod because he is so amazing. He is always willing to help. He is easy to get in contact with and you learn something new in every class. I don't recommend teachers often but I think anyone majoring in Human Resources or has to take a class in HR should take a class from Rod. You wont regret it.
One of the best professors I've ever had the pleasure to study with
Rod is the best teacher in the whole department. He is motivated and dedicated to helping his students succeed. I would take every class from him if I could.
AWESOME Professor!! Makes lectures interactive and exciting. Give all the time that is needed to help even after class. Allows makeup work which is great for us procrastinators. Overall a great great great professor. Would take him any chance I got. He truly cares about his students success!!!! A true gem!!
This course is tough, but totally worth it. Rod is available to help with whatever you may need to pass the course. He shares real life experiences which really helped me learn and pass the PHR!
ROD is seriously the best professor I have had hands down. He gives great feedback, is respected, he offers a little bit of extra credit. He wants you to pass just as much if not more than you want to pass. You must go to class to get participation point, but honestly he is so great of a teacher that you wont want to skip class.
Amazing professor, ROD was one of the best HR professor. He is amazing at giving feedback and really cares about his students. I can't wait to take COMP II with him as well.
He is a great teacher, he cares about your success. He wants you to learn and grow from this class so you are prepared for your future careers.
I loved having him as a teacher because he cares what people think and keeps the class interesting. Have an HR-related issue? He can help! Rod goes above and beyond many other teachers by finding his students' strengths and mentoring their weaknesses while teaching what we need to know for the course. Take his classes! Very worth it!
Great class! 10/10 would recommend :)
Rod is a wonderful teaching and really only gives assignments that are to your benefit. No busywork. You have one group project that you get to work on all semester long and as long as you have a good group it's not too bad. Rod really cares about you succeeding in HR and he really does show it.
Rod is an excellent professor. His classess are applicable to real-life circumstances and experiences. There is one group project done throughout the semester. Hardly any homework becasue most work is done in class. Attendance is important.
Rod genuinely cares about the student's success, and will always make himself available to provide feedback and assistance. He teaches clearly, creates valuable assignments that teach real-world skills, and provides a wonderful atmosphere for learning. You should absolutely take whatever class he is teaching!
Rod is awesome! He has a lot of experience working in the HR field and is able to apply that knowledge to help his students succeed. The class is very heavily participation and attendance based, but it's an awesome class so you wouldn't want to miss it. Rod genuinely cares about the success of each of his students. Take any class you can with Rod.
Rod Lacey is a great professor who really knows what he is teaching. He is very outgoing and presents in a fun manner that doesn't make you want to fall asleep. He is easy going and will help you with whatever you may need.
Rod Lacey is a really great professor. He does what he can to teach you all about HR. He will be there to help those students who needs help. If the students need help he will do his best to help them whether it is inside of class or outside of class. There is a group project throughout the whole semester but he does his best to help when he can.
Rod is the best HR professor I've ever had. He is knowledgeable, caring, and understanding. He applies his discussions towards real work and not just theories. He is willing to help anytime and wants the best for each student. Rod is the definition of a rockstar!
Great professor with lots of experience. He is very helpful and wants his students to succeed. I wish he taught more classes in the HR program I would take them all. Homework was meaningful and challenging. I had great stories and experiences to share with the class. Can't say enough good things.
I'm not at HR major, and took this class as an elective. I have no regrets. I learned so much! My favorite part about this class is you do all the homework (except group work) in class. If you show up to class, you'll pass. Rod also makes the class super engaging. I would highly recommend taking this class from him.
Rod is the Man!!! I took his AP-HR Class at UVU and loved it so much. I would take it again in a heart beat. Yes you learn a lot in such a short amount of time but it's totally worth it. I would spend the bucks and time again for this class. You learn a lot about Human Resources and get your ready for the A-PHR Exam Certificate.
Rod is an AMAZING professor. I took 3 classes from him in one semester and I knew I would either hate it or love it. I would now take 5 classes from him in one semester if I could. He is super knowledgeable, take advantage of that! Ask questions, discuss, you'll learn a ton! All the work is relevant and helpful. Take his classes!
Rod is an HRM Professional. His experience in HR shows in his lectures. I have taken two classes from him now and both were amazing in how he demonstrated real-world advice and connected it to HR principles. If I could, I would take every HR class at UVU from Rod because of how knowledgeable he is and how much he helps each of us in our projects.
Keeps your attention in lectures and has a lot of personal experiences.
Rod Is a great professor and advocate for his students. He will help you if you ask and he gives great feedback. You will learn a lot. the class is based on projects that you have the whole semester to do. I would recommend this class and others that he teaches.
Rod is my favorite professor that I have ever had. He cares so much about the success of his students. He is there for you- not for the paycheck. He prepares you well for the aPHR exam and is willing to do anything he can to help you succeed. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING ANY COURSES YOU CAN FROM ROD!
Amazing! Rod is my favorite professor in the HR program. He is truly invested in the success of his student and shares all of his knowledge. His classes are structured perfectly, theres enough work to challenge and teach you the essentials, but not so much that its overwhelming or pointless. Every assignment assigned is applicable in the workplace.
Rod is an amazing professor and because of all his professional HR experience I have learned so much from his classes. This HR strategy class he taught requires him to lecture more than other classes he teaches but his lectures always grabbed my attention.
Rod's classes have a lot of group work and group discussions. Throughout the semester, you will work on a client consulting project where you and your group will work with a company to provide them HR solutions. If you like learning from group work you will love Rod's class lay out. Rod is accessible out of class and is always willing to help.
Rod is a great teacher. His lectures have lots of his personal experiences from his years working in the profession. There's quite a bit of reading to do to prepare for each class. There's also a big group project due at the end, however, it's not hard if you get a good group. Definitely recommend taking his class.
Rod Lacey is an incredible professor due to his vast knowledge of HR topics and teaches in a way that all can understand. He did everything he could to help us. For the class I highly recommend studying the flashcards prior to each class. I was able to come prepared and participate in class. This really helped me to do well on the aPHR exam.
Was a great professor!
Rod is seriously the most amazing professor you can take for any of your HR classes. He is very knowledgable on the subject and does a great job at explaining the WHY of things. He is understanding & truly wants the best for his students. If you are taking the APHR exam, he will give you all the tools you need to be successful. 100% take his class.
Rod is a great teacher. He has a lot of experience in the field. He keeps everything related to the real world and he cuts out all the crap that some teachers keep in. I learned so much from him and I am greatful to have had him as a professor.
He is really one of the best if not the best professor I have had. He gives good feedback and makes the content applicable to what you will need in your career of HR. I wish I had taken more classes for him. No matter what class it is take it from him.
Rod is the best professor that UVU has. He works in the field, which is amazing because he teaches with real-life examples. Honestly, he leaves homework, reading assignmetns, and group projects. However, he is very linient with any issues or problems. He is always available for you and willing to help you succeed.
Rod was a great professor. He has worked in the HR industry for years and shares his knowledge with you. One thing I especially enjoyed was his real life approach to teaching. He doesn't get hung up or picky about how you complete assignments, he actually evaluates what you learned. Overall great teacher!
As long as you show up, most of the assignments are done in class with a group. The other assignments are clear and understandable so you are able to do them on your own. Very clear on what you can improve on in future assignments. Also very caring and lets you out early if possible!
Rod is a great professor. This class was a hybrid class, so there was reading but it was not over the top. A few articles were required before each class period. There are a few one page papers about any benefit topic you care about. You have one group presentations and one self presentation. There is usually a group assignment at the end of class.
In Rod's Pay and compensation class, the best thing is the discussion and lectures. You get to pick the brain of an expert. If you show effort or interest Rod will definitely be in your corner for the course and professionally. Take a class from him just to gain him as a contact. Show up for class and participate and youll easily grasp the content
Rod is an amazing teacher. He really does everything he can to help his students succeed in his class. He is always willing to help his students before and after class and does everything he can to help his students reach their potential. I would take him again any day! One of the best HR Professors at UVU!
Awesome professor, helped me pass the aPHR exam. Gave great advice, great presentations, etc. Go to class, and be prepared, required participation.
Rod is a passionate teacher who wants you to succeed. He has a lot of experience and will do all he can to help you pass the aPHR. Class was a good comprehensive summary of HR, I wish more of my classes were like this!
This class is strictly for your benefit in studying for and taking the aPHR exam. Rod does an amazing job preparing you the best he can for the test. Study hard, and you should be just fine receiving the certification.
The aPHR Exam is a hard exam, but Rod really helps you to be extremely prepared. He was willing to help students in my class outside of scheduled class time. If you go to his lectures, read the textbook, and study hard, you'll be fine.
Rod genuinely cares about student success and will do whatever it takes to help you pass the aPHR exam and so well in your career. He has extensive experience in the field and applies everything directly to the real world. Great man, great class!
A great and caring instructor. Gives you all the tools you need to pass the aPHR. Great discussions and real world scenarios. Rod is very respectful and a well of HR experience and expertise that he is willing to share with everyone. A HUGE asset to UVU's HR program. Take this class.
Rod was a great Professor. Class is important because you are learning about what actually matters in HR. I would recommend taking him!
Professor Lacey is one of the best professors I've had at UVU. He has real-life experience that enhances what he is teaching and he's down to earth. He cares about your success, is always available to schedule a meeting with, and his feedback is invaluable.
HR3430 Online Be aware of taking this class as a large portion of your grade depends on your group projects and teamwork, even on one of the final papers. This will be an issue if you have poor teammates. Rodney was a great instructor and his HW is easy, but the group projects are a hit or miss depending how reliable your team is.
Rod Lacey is the best teacher I've ever had. His deep HR insight, genuine care for students, and dedication to their success set him apart. He goes above and beyond, is always available, and makes learning practical and inspiring. Rod truly wants you to succeed, and his passion for HR makes his class unforgettable!
This class is hard but Rodney is willing to help out if you contact him. Attendance for the lectures is required a long with participation
Rodney's course will take up a lot of your time, but he's willing to help out if you ask
The professor is great and willing to work with you if you need help. Expectations are clear with each assignment.
Professor Lacey genuinely wants to see you succeed. He has a lot of experience in the field and is able to offer good insight. Each week you read from the textbook, write a journal entry, and take a quiz. There are two exams, both closed note and closed book. Would take a class again from Rod in a heartbeat.
Professor Lacey is a great professor and I would take his class again. He cares about his students and is always willing to help. The only negative from this course was he made a group project and two tests 75% of our grade.
Great professor! Very willing to work with you and is very helpful during the class project. I felt that he was actually wanting me to succeed throughout the whole class. Would recommend to anyone.
I really enjoyed having Rod as a professor. He is very involved with the HR students at UVU which is awesome! This class was very textbook heavy. There is a group project for this class. Rod was really great at supporting the groups and giving good feedback! I loved how the online class was setup. I was able to manage homework and full time job.
Such a kind and understanding professor. He's a fair grader overall and offers comments to justify the grade which I found helpful. I went through a lot this semester and he was willing to work with me on turning things in, even if they were a bit late.Truly does care about your success and your grade and wants his students to succeed and enjoy HR!
This online course was really simple, not too much busy work. I spent about 4 hours each week on the readings and assignments. There is a semester-long group project that isn't too hard at all, and it makes you see what being in HR is really like.
The class was relatively easy. Be prepared for proctored exams. As long as you participate and complete your assignments you should be good to go
The exams felt overwhelming as there wasn't a study guide, so you reviewed everything from all chapters (at least I did) instead of key points to help with retention. Outside of that little piece, hands down one of the best classes and professors I've taken. So responsive and it feels he genuinely cares about his students.
Fantastic professor, very passionate about the material and the success of his students. Assignments made sense and I never really felt like there was busy work. I would highly recommend this professor as you will learn a lot from his courses and if you put in the work, you will get the grade you want.
He expects a lot of you but it is a good class
Hated that in an all online class I had to do a group project all semester. Especially when it's difficult to get to the group meetings if you work a full time job. Other than that the class was good.
Professor Lacey is an excellent professor. He's fair, provides good feedback, and wants to help his students succeed. This class relies heavily on exams, and there is a lot of reading, but Rod is a great help and super supportive. I would take another class of his if given the chance.
I would take another course by Professor Lacey if I had the opportunity. Prepare for a long group project and a lot of reading, but it all feels very applicable. Overall grade is heavily weighted on the exams, which cover a lot of material, but the instructor is super helpful and supportive.
I strongly recommend taking a class with Professor Lacey. He genuinely wants you to succeed and it shows!! It was so easy to learn with his teaching style!
Mr. Lacey is always ready to help, and then a hand with anything and everything HR. He is more than willing to accommodate to your schedule and needs given that they really want you to succeed. He provides extra credit and curves your test score, if you get a good scorer on all the assignments, quizzes, & final project you will pass the class.
Mr. Lacey is always ready to help, and lend a hand with anything and everything HR. He is more than willing to accommodate to your schedule and needs given that they really want you to succeed. He provides extra credit and curves your test score, if you get a good scorer on all the assignments, quizzes, & final project you will pass the class.
There was a big group project for this class, but Rod does a great job at explaining expectations and meeting with students throughout the process.
Rod is the best seriously. He is the best professor I met and he wants to help you to be successful in your career. We have a project, but he is always willing to help you with this, too.
Rod is the best helper, really. The main thing for this course, I would say, HR Talent Fair, where a lot of HR experts meet students and make connections. This opportunity was amazing. I even want to come here again before finishing my MBA. Take Rod's class.
Rod is a great lecturer and gives good feedback. He treats his classes as if it was a business, to prepare all of his students for the real world when they have a job that requires deadlines. Rod responds promptly to messages, and is willing to help his students with anything that is needed.
Rod is the best professor I have had at UVU. I'm graduating this semester so it was nice to leave with an amazing experience. He prepares you to be an HR professional and cuts out all the unnecessary "academic" stuff that people think we need and gives you real world experience. Super appreciative and grateful for him!
Great professor. Be ready to work with a group, as that is the main focus of this class. He has also recorded lectures that you will watch along with weekly quizzes and assignments. Overall, it's an easy class with a great professor!
Rod was solid, grades test to curve. Online class relied on weekly learning journals and quizzes with a few papers scattered throughout. Group project took majority of semester and two exams (mid-term and final) were relied upon most for grade.
This is my second class with Rod. He's such a kind and understanding professor and really does want students to understand the concepts and is available when you have questions. I found the group project a bit frustrating in an online setting since some members did not fully participate and there was no way to grade if they participated or not.
Rod was super chill. Most of the semester was focused on our group project, with just a few quizzes and journal assignments in between. He's very caring and understanding, and creates a low-stress learning environment. Great class if you like working in groups and want a supportive professor.
This was my second course with Rod and he was awesome! He truly is one of the best professors at UVU. He knows all things HR and connects the material to things happening in real-time. I have never had a professor care more about me and my success in school and in my career. He opens his calendar and is very generous of his time to every student.
The course has quite a workload, but if you put in the time and focus you will succeed. He is a professional that brings his expertise to the course, which helps connect the material to post-college experiences. He is also a great resource and willing to help with any HR or career questions. Group work is a big part of the grade.
Great online lectures that connect the course material to the real-world. He brings a wealth of experience in the field that helped to broaden my view of what an HR employee typically deals with. The course is very content-heavy and heavily weighted on the group project. He is also a great resource for any HR or general career questions.
The class revolves around a group project that requires meeting at least once weekly for the entire semester. His grading is inconsistent, so even following the rubric or copying his template led to being docked points for formatting one week and then getting a good grade the next despite the fact that I used the exact same template each time.
Rod was the best! Every time we went into class he was clear with what he taught and it all made sense. Rod has so many years of experience within Human Resources and really helped me understand the basics of Human Resources. Would recommend taking his class.
Rod is literally the GOAT! This class was amazing. It wasn't too hard—totally doable—and his lectures were actually fun. He ties real-life situations and what's happening in the world back to HR in such a cool way. I would 100% recommend taking his class. I've loved it, and I'd take another class from him in a heartbeat!
Professor Lacey is hands down one of the best professors in the HR Department at UVU! He really does help you with real-world applications of the coursework. He's quick to respond and is very helpful with when you have any questions. Livestream Class does have attendance as mandatory, but you wouldn't want to miss it regardless.
Stay caught up, and you will do great! This class does require you to do the assignments without cheating or AI, but that is what you're in school for, and it really wasn't too hard a class as long as you don't fall behind.
Professor Lacey is great! He has very clear expectations about what needs to be done. He really cares about his students. There is a networking project at the end of the semester, but it is really easy to complete. He is also great at responding when I had questions. If you attend class and put in the work, it is really easy to get a good grade.
Professor Lacey is probably my favorite teacher of all time. Knowledgeable, connects everything to real-world events and specifics for the workforce, and cares about the students and their progress and learning. SHRM test is prepared for, but not required. It is the perfect blend of life preparation and learning.
Probably the best professor ever. Current, helpful, works in the field, and understands actual problems students will be facing. Absolutely an amazing course and teacher.
Rod is a great professor who starts class on time with a discussion on what's in the news/real life, then goes into a lecture. Stops periodically to check our understanding and if we have any questions. Cares about our feedback/participation and works either your abilities. Follows along with the online textbook.
Overall he was pretty good. I didn't love the format he wanted for papers. But overall the homework, for this course, was reasonable and even though it was only lectures they were pretty engaging.
The homework was easy, most of it was from the textbook. The textbook wasn't my favorite, they had many grammar errors and was always a little glitchy when I tried to scroll down the page. But I thought that he was pretty good, his lectures were pretty engaging.
It was a hybrid course, there was a lot of online portion. But when in class we as a class were encouraged to ask questions and make comments. Even if the comment or question was not related to what we were talking about, I always felt I could if I wanted to.
Rod is a great professor. His teaching style is easy to understand, and he always gives helpful feedback on assignments with clear suggestions for improvement. He is very understanding, depending on your situation, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his students.
Very down to earth and great guy. He understands we are busy college students however that does not stop us from having a great semester of learning with him. He also makes sure that this is applicable to our everyday and it makes it much more engaging and purposeful.
