Microbiology was not like anything I had ever studied before and RR made it interesting and fun. There is a considerable amount of work involved but there is so much cool stuff to learn. RR is enthusiastic about this subject and in teaching this class. He is involved in research, disease control, and the PhD program so he is very knowledgeable.

Biology 2420 Intro to Mircobiology was a difficult course. Professor Rohde was excellent. He was very helpful and genuinely concerned about the progress of his students. I would recommend him as a professor to any student who needs a good microbiology course and who is not afraid to study for it.

Professor Rohde is an par excellent teacher, clear & understandable in lecture, available to assist his students in learning. He also keep the subject of microbiology interesting and relevant to his audience...nursing students. His humor shows thru, but don't take it as him being a push over,he is definitely not that. A man that is firm & fair.

thee are too many good comments to lay at Rodney's feet. Microbiology is a difficult subject, but the prof lightens the load. The lectures and the material as well as exams are straight forward. You need to study and the grade of A is not out of the question. Make the effort and you will get a B grade.

The class was good. I went to almost all of them, and enjoyed it a lot. I studied very hard, but the tests were difficult, and he never awarded anything greater than a B for other assignments. The lab practicals are taken almost straight from his practice ones. His tests are time consuming, and had a hard time finishing.

LOVE Doc R.He makes this class fun and interesting.He respects the students and is very professional...but also makes this class enjoyable. He is TOUGH, make no mistake...but if you REALLY study you CAN get an A. He tailors this class for nursing students...it's interesting because he really shows you the things you will encounter in a med setting.

Dr. Rohde made micro an interesting and fun class. He is super nice and plenty of chances to make an A. Put work in...go to labs (take notes), take projects seriously, presentations, case studies, and no reason to not make A or B. Ever since this class I have a higher interest and appreciation for the material. He's cool & I totally recommend him!

Extremely knowledgeable, with the professional experience to back up his teaching. Great lectures, and he really makes it clear why microbiology is an important part of nursing education. Encourages classroom discussion and participation. Could be a little clearer in lab about the application of experiments you perform. Overall, amazing professor!

His class is great if you are going into Nursing. It's not an easy A, but no class should be if it's preparing you for a job in the medical field. He makes the class enjoyable and isn't afraid to joke around a little bit. He is very open to helping students out if you are putting forth an effort. I would highly recommend taking his class.

I would highly recommend Dr. Rohde. Micobiology is not an easy class and you do have to WORK very hard. Attendance is a must, so do not skip class. Dr. Rohde is strict but put a great pride on his teachings. He is an inspiring Professor and cares about his students. A very intelligent and wonderful Professor overall.

Rodney Rohde is a great professor! He is very passionate about teaching and you can really tell that he cares about his students. He gives you tons of opportunities to earn extra points to pull up your grade and is always there to answer any questions or concerns you might have. I would definitely recommend him to other students taking this course!

He is very knowledgeable. Tests can be tricky if you don't have a good understanding of the material. Memorization will get you a passing grade but will not be enough to do well. He is more than willing to answer questions and he always has great stories to tell about his career in science. All around great professor.

He is by far the best professor I have taken! I would defiantly recommend. Organized lectures. His reviews and activities help a lot with test material. He explains concepts clear and if you don't understand something he is very helpful and will help. 4 test and 1 can be replaced by final. Go to class and do the extra credit and you will pass!

He knows that a lot of the students have full time jobs or busy lives and his teaching style reflects this. He teaches you everything you need to succeed in his class, as long as you put in the work. You will need to study but he gives you a lot of resources to help. He focuses on the clinical side, so this is especially good for nursing students.

It is helpful to attend lecture because prof R will give hints about what will be on the exams and what to focus on. There is somewhat of a disconnect between what he goes over in class, what is on the study guides, and what is on the test. It takes some time to figure out how to study and be successful on the tests, but prof R is there to help.

Dr. Rohde is a phenomenal teacher! I was dreading Microbiology but he made the class relative, interesting, and fun to learn! I would recommend him to anyone looking to learn a lot but also ready to work hard for your grade. He's the man!!

Dr. Rohde is fantastic ! Lectures are very interesting and include a mix of powerpoint presentations, stories from his days at the CDC, relevant current events, important points for those entering a clinical field, and a bit of life advice! Tests require you actually know the material vs. memorizing and regurgitating information. Highly recommend!

I found this class to be easy to follow and the workload was appropriate. You need to attend lectures and go through the study helps on Blackboard, or you will have trouble with the exams. But this professor is accessible and presents the material in an understandable manner. He is relatable and approachable, and he knows the material thoroughly.

Only problem I had in the class were the exams; exams are created by the biology board and are not created by the professor. If you study the notes and read the sections you'll be able to make an A. Attendance optional later but you'll miss out on extra credit. Ties everything to bigger concepts; overall great and would take again.

Dr. Rohde is a terrific professor. Do not miss class, because he draws association to material discussing interesting knowledge gained in his microbiology career. He clearly communicates, so do the homework, study hard, and be engaged in class. If you do these things, he will will help you succeed.

I expected this class to be a breeze but the material got progressively more difficult throughout the semester. Thankfully he kept the entire class engaged and laughing but always stayed on point. It takes a little effort for an A. Always go to class for easy extra points, though not mandatory. I would definitely recommend him.

Really nice teacher. If you ask him questions, you can tell he enjoys teaching you the answer. He loves microbiology and teaching and that comes through. Tests and notes are really old (10 years). I wish he taught us the actual content rather than just giving us extra credit to it make up. Do the work, turn in assignments and you'll get an A.

Dr. Rohde is an amazing professor. His level of knowledge is off the charts and he has no problem with giving up as much of it as you can digest. The lectures that he gives are filled with very in depth explanations into the material. He is a motivator that gets the best out of his students. I'd take another class taught by Dr. Rohde!!

I really enjoyed taking this professor. He clearly loves Micro and it shows. I think that makes the world of a difference. Initially, I dreaded having to take another Bio course, but his instruction, encouragement and support helped me get through an otherwise difficult course. By far my favorite professor at ACC.

Dr. Rohde provides a perspective that students working towards a medical degree might not consider such as sample collection, zoonotic disease, and immunity. He will help strengthen your grasp on these topics and many more. The course is very informative and will aid anyone in becoming a better provider. This was a great learning experience.

This course is difficult. That is true about any micro class, especially for future health professionals. But Dr. Rohde rewards hard work. He is also an engaging lecturer, and I ended up enjoying the course very much, even though it was stressful due to the difficulty. If you have questions, ask them in person. He is helpful and kind.

Professor Rohde is the best professor I've had so far. I took him for Biology Fundamentals. The class objectives are created by acc biology department so he adds his own touch to everything. If you're taking this class to peruse some sort of medical field I definitely recommend taking him. He has so much knowledge to pass on!!

Exceptional teacher! So full of knowledge on the subjects he teaches. There are no tricks to his course, he is straight forward with what he expects. Syllabus is clear and he sticks to schedule, no pop quizzes. He gives multiple sources to study from for lecture and lab tests. Studying is a MUST! you leave course knowing the material. I recently had the opportunity to take Biology 1308 for some fundamentals info. I am taking the A&P1 test to get into the class in the fall. I have such a good thorough foundation now and feel very confident in taking the assessment soon. The objectives from the A&P1 test are almost identical to the assessment objectives. He is funny too!

Doc R is an awesome professor. The material that we covered in class is strait forward, but this professor makes it very entertaining and interesting to come to class everyday & he gives applications of the material to the real world. You can see the Power Points outside of class, but his explanations in class make it a lot easier to understand.

The second course I have taken with him and it was equally pleasurable. He draws a true picture of how clinical lab science has impact and undeniable importance within medical careers. Clear communicator and grades quickly. He's a genuinely kind person who cares about others. He offers encouragement to keep you motivated. That's priceless.

I absolutely loved this class. Dr. Rohde is extremely knowledgable and passionate about Microbiology and it shows through his excitement during his lectures. It is a hard class, but he really wants you to learn. He wants you to do more than just pass a class, he wants to give you info that you'll actually remember and use in your career.

If you need microbio, take Dr. R. He is kind, intelligent, and passionate. I went to a top-tier institution for undergrad and never had as good of a professor. Befriend your classmates and get a study group going for lecture and lab because some of the material is hard and overwhelming to learn on your own. He loves participation, so speak up!

I had the pleasure of taking Dr. Rohde's BIO 1308. Through this course, and thanks to Dr. Rohde, I have a solid foundation and understanding of the fundamentals of biology. Additionally, he provided valuable insight into career options regarding the material we were learning. He is personable, engaging, and encouraging! Great teacher and class!

He was very caring and very encouraging. Replies to emails promptly and is very professional. Relates a lot the material to real life career opportunities. I would definitely love to be able to take him again! The course itself is an ACC course so the school has the biggest say of the tests.

He's a good professor the class feels like review to me (i'm a bio major(not my first college bio class)). He has a few tests and a little bit of classwork no homework often ends class before the set time simply due to being able to thoroughly cover everything quickly. i like him

He was awesome. He taught at ACC and at TXST and is super funny. Makes sure that you know the information and will make sure to spend time answering any questions you have. We usually were always let out early and the tests weren't that hard.

I really enjoyed this class. The professor made the subjects we talked about fun to learn about as well as easy to understand. I was also introduced to new career options as he would relate them to the topics we talked about.

Dr. Rohde is a great professor. His syllabus was straight forward. This class is primarily memorization. He has plenty of helpful resources accessible through blackboard and very helpful. I also made flashcards and watched a lot of you tube videos. He encouraged us to get a basic biology book but I primarily reviewed the power point presentations.

Dr. Rohde is one of those professors that you will remember for a lifetime. His class gave me a firm foundation in biology and I passed the A & P exam on the first try. Any bad review left is just from students that do not study or work hard for their grade. Wonderful professor, I would take him again in a heartbeat if he offered microbiology.

Its very common that schools push their version of what they want a professor to teach. It can be hard for a teacher to make things interesting when this is the case. Thank goodness for Professors like Dr. Rohde. Very little homework, just studying. Make flashcards during lectures and you'll ace every exam.

This class is very lecture based with no homework. So in order to pass you need to stay on top of it with studying. He does offer extra assignments to help you study with if you choose to do them which are very helpful. All his grades are test and he includes an extra credit assignment which is very easy to. do. I loved his class and he's great!

Professor Rhode was a great teacher / mentor. The (16 week class) consisted of 32 zoom meeting consisting of power points, test reviews, discussions (which he sometimes talked about different career's in the health field), and instructional videos. There was one extra credit assignment, four unit exams, and one make up exam (the final).

I took him last semester for Intro to Biology and didn't regret it. He is a great professor with a laid-back personality. The class will have 4 exams, plus an optional extra credit essay about career exploration. He'll provide you with a whole library of resources for you to study with, these resources will help you pass. Highly recommend!!! :)

Dr. Rohde is an amazing professor. I took his BIOL1308 online class this summer semester and enjoyed every lecture. He makes content that is usually complex and not always the easiest to grasp incredibly accessible to all types of learners. The class covers a wide array of topics in Biology and is a great prep class for further advanced study.

The course content is difficult, not made any easier by four exams making the bulk of the grade, but Prof Rohde genuinely cares about your success.
