This guy is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the class, and you learn a lot in his class. The downside is that his unannounced reading quizzes are ridiculously insanely hard and the tests are even harder. I studied a ton for everything and barely managed a C. If you're willing to work a LOT to learn the material then take him.
this guy is a great teach, take his class if possible.
Really great teacher & definately knows his stuff. Some of the subject matter is a little boring, but his lectures are really good. 4 exams total & the final IS NOT cumulative! Gives you helpful study guides & if you go & talk with him during office hours he'll help you with the material on the test! Ended up with an A, be prepared to read though.
Class is a joke, easyy A. tests are 25 notes directly from the notes and 15 from the book which are a joke. then 10 questions on the map which is more of a joke. everything is on a powerpoint so if u have freinds dont even go to class
Best Power Point I've ever seen
He's a nice guy, but his lecture will put you to sleep two minutes in. Somehow, he even makes battles boring.
Awesome teacher!!! This class will make you sleep sometimes but I found his lectures very helpful and interesting. He is a nice and helpful person and will help you on final grade if you go to class often.
He's a super nice guy. Even though I only showed up for class on the test days, he was still really nice and helpful for me. I usually got the UNotes and flipped through the chapter the night before and I did fine. If you actually go to class and pay attention, you're pretty much guaranteed and A
This class was very easy. He is also a great lecturer and tries to make it interesting. I made an A easily, just read the chapters and use the study guide. Tests were very easy.
Great teacher.
He is a decent teacher overall. He just clicks through slides that you write down, so he doesn't teach the best. You have to know the lecture material and the book material, which you have to read a lot. He is a nice guy though. Also use the study guides to determine what you read b/c some of the text he assigns is not on the test.
Good teacher. Take him for history. If you do the study guide and know the notes you will do well and he is very nice and tries really hard to make lectures interesting and funny. Would definitely take him again.
Good guy, but not the best teacher.
Steward has pretty informative lectures. I like the study guides he gives us too. Attendance is not mandatory but if you have 3 or less days he will round up on a borderline grade. I think his class is fairly interesting too.
best teacher i've had so far, will take him for world history2, attendance not mandatory but the slides r really important so get the notes from someone and yes you do have to read the book, but people its a history class, test is usually 50 questions 25 from lecture, 15 from book and 10 from atlas if can get him take him class is always interesting
AWESOME TEACHER!! I'm an eningeering major who had him during a summer minisemester..which should be hard, but he made it amazing. It was interesting and fun, just read about what is on the study guide and go to class and you will do very well!!!! I loved him :)
Very good teacher. His lectures are very interesting.. he goes pretty fast with the slides, so try to keep up. If you come to class and take all of the notes, you shouldn't have to read too much in the textbook except to review the terms on the study guide. He really knows his stuff and is very interesting to listen to. Would definitely take again.
Awesome teacher
GREAT TEACHER! IM TAKING HIM AGAIN NEXT SEMESTER
he's decent, but i wouldnt take him again. you have to read the text book thoroughly, and his lectures don't make too much sense. his first test was pretty easy, but they get harder and harder! good luck!
He's a good lecturer, which is good cause he's not making stuff up, and bad because it can get boring sometimes. Memorize lecture notes, only reason to read the book is to fill out the study guides. Most of test comes from lectures, a little from the study guide. If you like getting classes canceled, sorry, he NEVER will. Easy A, I'd take him again
TAKE STEWARD! Best History teacher at Auburn! Going to class is not important (Unotes)- but READ THE BOOK! 3rd test was 40% from book.
TAKE HIMM ! I GOT A B WITHOUT TRYING! BEST AT AUBURNN !
Not the most interesting of clases, but it was pretty easy. You have to read the textbook. Final grade based only on 4 tests worth 25% each, so if you bomb one, you're screwed...
Good teacher, but you definately have to read the book.
LOVE this class and I HATED history in high school !! Study your notes from class & read the sections from the study guide in the book and you will make an A !
This guy practically gives you a B. If you put some effort into it you will definitely get an A. I'm not really into history but I really enjoyed going to class, and he shows movies alot!
you have to read the book to do good on the test, but the map part is extremely easy. plays boring movies.
i loved this class. as long as you take notes and read the book your fine for the test. the study sessions helped alot too and there was always one before the test! He makes class interesting by how excited he is to teach, sometimes we had boring movies though. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
He's really excited about teaching. He's good. Always enthusiastic, can go fast on notes, plays about 2 movies during the semester. You might even get to meet his son(8) who he talks about almost everyday before lecture starts.
Go to class, know your notes and read around the bold words in the chapters and you will pass the tests with ease. Has the cutest kid, Simon, that he loves to talk about.
very easy class. just read the notes and the bolded terms in the book and you should do fine. i got an A in the class. he's so nice and flexible. take him if you can.
easy teacher, wants you to do well so he prepares you for the tests. don't worry about reading the book, just read the study guide terms. I could have gotten an A easily but I didn't try at all and got a B. try and get him
He is a very nice teacher and is passionate about history. His tests are pretty easy (multiple choice). Attendance is mandatory if you want that borderline grade to be bumped up. I advise taking him! :)
Great teacher. Dont go to class, just get UNotes. Must read text though for tests. pulled all nighters before each test and made A's.
I hate history but didn't mind taking his class. If he gives SI sessions go to them. They are almost verbatim what is on the test and at the end he tweaks your grade if you go to class and SIs.
cool guy. tests are heavily from the book, sometimes it seemed almost pointless to take notes. if i would have tried harder i would have made an A. the other reviews on him are pretty accurate.
awesome teacher. very friendly and everyone that i knew that had him as a teacher passed the class with flying colors. his lectures are interesting, but the test material is mostly from the book. tests are EASY. just read over notes the night before and you'll be fine. got a B and that wasnt even trying.
Wonderful Teacher! A very nice man who is extremely willing to help everyone. Tests are strictly from the notes and study guide. Easy A!
He's fantastic. His lectures are clear and he makes it interesting. I hate history but I acctually like his class. You have to read the text book, which is lame, but as long as you read and pay attention in class the tests are really easy. There's a lot of pressure to do well on his tests. He gives 4 tests and each are worth 25% of your grade.
He is a really great teacher! He explains eveything really well in class. If you do the study guide you will atleast make a B.
one of the best teachers at auburn
Steward is a very good teacher, though the lectures can get a little boring sometimes. I highly suggest that you go through and do his recomened reading.
The class consists of powerpoints which are easy to understand. As long as you read the assigned chapters and pay attention in class, you'll be fine. He's an interesting teacher and is willing to help. You do have to go to class to pass though. Good prof!
Steward is available during his office hours. Tests are multiple choice and on scantrons. Attendance is not mandatory, but he still takes roll. I learned in this class, and if you study, a good grade is very do-able. I enjoyed this class.
Dr. Steward is a very good teacher, and is available to help if you are having trouble. If you attend class and review before the tests, you will have no trouble. He is my fav professor at Auburn!
This teacher is so BORING! Comparing him to the likes of others in the history department such, Bohanan and Thomas-Woodard, there is just no comparsion!! This guy needs to quit talking about his son so much in class and actually teach!!! All this coming from someone with a 4.0.. he is BORING and HARDER than both the other teachers I stated!
Lectures are boring but his tests are half lecture half book. Must read the book. Follow the study guide and you will pass. Takes attendance everyday.
Dr. Steward is a very good teacher. Just pay attention in class, read the notes, and go through the chapters in the book and your will do fine.
Dr. Steward is the man.
Read and know all key terms, and study the lecture notes. There's only 4 test, no quizes or extra credit. The test contains information on the notes and key terms nothing extra. Best History teacher and Class.
Dr Steward is an amazing prof! I hated history before I took his class. Now I absolutely love it. He keeps it interesting. His lectures are never boring. And tests are easy. Just read notes and do the study guides thoroughly.
This is how a teacher should teach! One of the best classes ever! Very interesting! Easy tests if you read, take notes, and just plain do what is asked..which isn't too much at all. I wish some other professors would use Dr. Steward as their example on how to teach!
Good professor, interesting lectures. Just know there are 4 test. #1 is easy #2 and #3 are difficult and #4 is easy. You can tell he loves to teach and his lectures are very enthusiastic. Only down side, he will put things on the tests that he does not even mention in his lectures, so read the book
he would be the best teacher ever if all he did were lecture. Unfortunately, the department chose a boring book, but its still impossible to not get at least a b if you show up for the test
hist 1020 is easier than 1010.Study though. Know the study guide and you'll be ok. Go see him in his office and he will quiz you from the EXACT test you will take.
I had Dr. Steward for both History 1010 and 1020 and he is by far one of the best professors at Auburn. Though this class isn't easy, you should be able of pull of an A or B by attending his lectures, taking notes and reading the book.
very good just study your study guide
I love Dr. Steward! Had him for World History I & II because he's so great. Interesting lectures, and enthusiastic about what he talks about so I actually enjoyed class. Boring textbook to read, but you have to do it. Doing the study guide and taking notes in class would get you by though!
Steward is a GREAT professor. He tells you enough to make you satisfied with what you've learned and tests you over a very reasonable amount of material. Knowing the importance of everything on the study guides will get you an A. Read the paragraphs around terms from the study guide then decipher the importance of the term and you're golden.
Attendance not mandatory but it helps. Really nice guy. Always willing to help and answer questions. Gives lectures from powerpoints and study guides for the textbook. As long as you know the highlighted terms from the lectures and all of the terms on the study guide, you're pretty much guaranteed an A. Take him!
Steward is a GREAT teacher! I am not a history person at all, but he makes it interesting and easy to understand. He gives great notes with a powerpoint. He also gives a study guide of terms that you have to fill out using the book. You must study the notes AND study guide, but if you do, you will be fine!!
Professor Steward is such an amazing teacher! I am taking him for world history I and i just registered to take him for next semester history too! I highly recommend this class!
Dr. Steward is so great! I don't even like history and I loved this class. He makes it interesting. Tests are not hard but you have to read the book, no comprehensive exam and he is really helpful- Take him for 1010!!
Great guy, really helpful if you approach him. Test are easy, as are the essays. I learned a bunch from this class.
Very good teacher. I really did not listen in class, but took notes then studied a lot for the tests and made a B in the class. Pretty easy overall
Pretty easy stuff. I never went to class but studied my ass off for the tests and made a B. Really nice guy and willing to help you out though.
VERY good teacher. He really cares about his students and doesnt try to make the class harder than it needs to be. You def need to study and if you reread the notes and do the study guide he posts online, you are atleast going to make a B. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
not boring, fun to listen to and extremely helpful to me, study the study guides. the tests are pretty straightforward but there are some small things he puts on there
Wonderful professor. He really knows the material that he's teaching. I made an A by completing/memorizing the study guide terms, reading the text book, and studying notes. It take some effort, but the tests are very straight forward.
Great teacher!! My advice: The only thing you need the book for is strictly the study guide terms. Then go over your notes. If your notes say something about study guide terms, then that's awesome...But make sure you use the study guide as the only thing you need to know for book information! And go over your notes many many times!
My absolute favorite teacher ever! Really knows his stuff. I took him for HIST 1010 & I'm in his 1020 class now. Knowing the notes & study guide will get you an A. He's super nice & helpful and SOO HOT! Made me actually want to go to class ;) I'm going to miss having him after this semester!!
His class is super easy. History 2 is a bit harder than History 1 (there is much more material and more vocab words assigned) but overall if you try you'll at least get a B. Besides being easy, he is a really great speaker and speaks clearly and really helps you understand. He's a bit dramatic when he teachers but hey, it keeps it interesting.
Dr. Steward is a very nice instructor! I do not think his class is necessarily the easiest thing ever (especially since I have little interest in History), but he makes it pretty interesting. I recommend regular attendance to class b/c he will add a point or two (to borderline grades) if you attended class regularly in the end.
Actually a good history professor, I bit difficult but not overly. One thing-- he always wears tight pants... and he's a REALLY BIG bulge. Not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it's a bit distracting...
Great professor. Keeps ur interest in class. Test r straight from study guide and in class notes. Final was easy and not comprehensive. Only prob was each test was 50 questions. 4 test total which means 200 questions. I got 175/200 right and will prob get a B in the class which stinks. Always put at least 5 questions on test not covered in class.
He is a really good teacher. He puts all the notes you need on power point. He gives you a study guide of all the things you need to know from the book, and if you look up the basic info on them, you'll be fine. The only bad thing is there are always a few questions on the tests that we never covered.
greatest professor ever, really wants you to succeed, and is very very clear, go to class and learn the terms from the study guides in the book and you are an easy high B low A person. Hes the best
Great guy and even better teacher! Class is not mandatory but helps tremendously with exams and final. If you haven't taken this class get him.
I had him for both 1010 and 1020. He is a nice guy. He is not that boring and you learn a lot. FIRST TEST IS WAY EASIER THAN ALL HIS OTHERS BY FAR! He does that so people can get used to his class. 4 Tests at 25% each is he class. GET UNOTES REGARDLESS IF YOU ATTEND! If you study Unotes and his study guide you will be fine. But you have to work!
Nice guy but very dramatic sometimes when he's teaching. If you take his class you MUST read the book chapters he has assigned and take notes on them because he has two separate sections on his tests, one covering lecture notes and the other book reading. A pretty good class over all.
Fantastic professor!! I highly recommend his class!
