He is full of himself and expects you to already know the concepts or to teach yourself. He is no help when you go to him with questions. He really shouldn't be teaching.
I'm not good with math, and if you don't either, AVOID BUNN AT ALL COSTS! He's terrible, he seems to just expect you to understand everything. My friend & I pass through with our sanity by counting how many times in one class he says, "Isn't that true?" We're up to 25 being the highest so far.
DR. BUNN IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. HE IS NOT HELPFUL AND HE DOES NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS. He gives NO instruction and makes your learn things with stars next to them... then he doesn't tell you how to solve them. His class is awful. Everyone failed the first test and he had to give extra points. avoid him at all costs.
Okay. If you're for roundabout explainations that confuse you more than the material itself, go ahead and take him. If not, GET OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! You will never get a straight forward answer, nor an answer to how to do problems that he hasn't taught in class. He provides study guides, but no answers to check them. Good luck with this guy!
Terrible. learned nothing
This teacher is the worst teacher I have ever had. He expects you to know everything and gives problems that are unsolvable. Thanks to him I now have to take this class next semester as well.
I do NOT recommend Mr. Bunn whatsoever. He assumes that everyone already knows concepts. No help. Only 111 points were offered for the entire semester. There were probably a total of 30 homework assignments, but he only let them be 5 points of your grade. Your tests are averaged together. Nobody had above a C. Hated this class. Simply awful.
When you're in a lower level math class, you expect a teacher to be a bit firm, but understanding that the room's full of kids who don't like math and don't understand it. If you fall into this category, DON'T TAKE BUNN.
BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. HE EXPLAINS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, AND ASSUMES YOU ALREADY KNOW THE CONTENT BEFORE HE TEACHES IT.
I am actually fairly good at math. But, I had to drop Professor Bunn's class. He didn't teach the concepts well and whenever a question would be asked, he'd skip over it by answering a bunch of unasked questions that just confused the class more. Unless you have no other options, do not take his class!
We used MyMathLab...which wasn't any good since what he taught in class was either 2 chapters ahead or behind. Our "Final" study days was just him coming in and saying "how are you guys, any questions?" and we're just awkwardly sitting there wondering why he didn't come up with a guide for us. Math isn't something you'd know where to start asking.
He's a okay teacher once you understand what he's saying. He was really helpful in the study sessions. If you just try to do all your homework, you're sure to pass the class with like a C+ or like a B. I just wish he would sort of dumb it down for the kids in the class who aren't use to the fast-pace environment that he's used to.
I did not mind taking his class. The homework was simple and short. His tests were fairly easy if you studied. He let people ask questions (if you don't then he gets slightly annoyed). The only thing I did not like was that he points people out in class and asks if they know how to solve a question.
Dr. Bunn was not a very good teacher, he thought everyone knew the material before hand. I was pretty dumbfounded with the class. He called on me a lot and he knew I didn't know the answer. He also didn't respect me, until i got a low C on a test. I do not recommend him as a teacher.
Overall I thought he was a great teacher. The tests were similar to the notes so if you attended class you did well on the tests. He explained things very well and did lots of examples on the board. He also answered any questions you had a long the way. I would Definitely recommend him.
He was the worst teacher I have ever had. I used to love algebra before this class. I already knew the material but the way he explained it to you, I get so confused that I failed the final. He told us to ask questions but made us feel dumb if we ever asked a question. I just gave up on asking about things I didn't understand.
He teach math good. I ace tests. I laugh. Everyone cry.
Dr. Bunn is a super nice guy, and you just have to get used to his style of teaching. He can be funny even though he seems like he is very serious. The class can be challenging, but if you study you will have no problem getting a good grade in the class. I did not like him at the beginning of the year, but I ended up really liking him at the end!
He's a horrible teacher with a really soft spoken voice. He The only way you're going to learn anything at all is if you go to his office, which his hours are super early. He would also get mad for not asking questions, and when someone would, he would get irritated by that too. Would not recommend at all.
Bunn was a great teacher if u tried. Use the book to do suggested homework assignments. 3of5 tests were take home including final cause our class was well behaved. Although attendance is not required come cause u may have a surprise quiz. As long as u try u will be ok. Dont let his difficult problems get u down he will help & ull feel accomplished
I was scared of Dr. Bunn in the beginning of the semester, and he really seems like a hard teacher. As long as you do the work and put in the few hours to study and do the homework, you will be better off. He prefers that students ask him questions in the class. Just do the work and he's super nice. Also, the attendance counts for EC at the end.
Be prepared to spend extra hours outside of class teaching yourself the material. He knows what he is talking about, but is not very good at teaching students how to do it. Your assignments are limited and your grade will depend on how well you do on his quizzes and tests.
He was extremely condescending. He automatically assumed we knew what he was talking about. As with any math class, you need to show up to get a good grade. The notes strongly resemble the tests and quizzes. This class was an easy A for me being a Math Major. But if you struggle even the slightest with math, do not take his class.
The teacher was a terrible teacher in my eyes. He would not go into full detail sometimes so you would get lost fast. Due to his poor teaching skills I didn't do so great. I even went to his office to get help, but he just didn't know how to go in depth on explaining things I didn't understand.
Scary teacher. He hates when people don't ask questions in class, he then gets irritated and cocky. He explains things in an unusual way that most people don't relate to, and is incapable of flexibility in teaching methods. He likes to call people out in the middle of class and acts like everyone is stupid but himself.
Would never take another class taught by him ever. I actually switched my entire spring schedule to avoid him. I dropped his class after only one week. The assignments he gives are outrageous. I took AP Calculus in high school and got an A but in this class I was lost from the start. Horrible teacher very condescending.
He is a horrible teacher, had to drop him because he was so hard and wouldn't help if I asked. He expects people to know what he is doing and does all the problems and the sections on the board doesn't talk till he finishes writing then say "did everyone get this". He is so not helpful. Pop quizzes are 40 points too. Way to hard and long.
I knew this professor was going to be hard when I signed up for his class but all the other college algebra sections were full. It is hard to understand most of the lessons but if you put forth effort into studying, you can manage to pass. Does not use plus and minus scale.
He was so condescending, tough and not helpful. I went to every single class the whole semester, I got tutoring from multiple people and still didn't pass this class. I would never take another class from him. He was terrifying.
Im a Chemistry major&have had one B in my life. I have taken several math classes & not struggled. Bunn is easily the worst professor I have ever had. He is condescending and not helpful. This is the only class I have ever failed a test in, even with a tutor. I went to his office hours and it was even worse. I tried to stick it out but had to drop.
VERY nit-picky about grading. Can't put an or cross-out marks in a table, otherwise you miss a point for each or mark... Have to simplify answers to his liking. Makes quizzes extremely tough, saying that we should have practiced (this stuff we have never seen before). Can give you points back if you explain your answer well enough.
Dr. Bunn is an awful teacher. He is very cocky and has a tendency to make you feel really stupid. I have never struggled in a math class before this one. He testes over material that is much harder than what he teaches, and he expects you to understand it. Even when you go into his office he isn't very understanding.
As long as you take good notes and study all the problems in the notes, you will be fine. Lots of extra credit on the tests directly from the notes.
The most horrible math teacher I have ever taken a class with!!! During class we learn the easy version of the problems but then on the test, it's the hardest version of the problem possible. I was never able to pass even one test! He even made some girl in the class cry when she went to his office to get help.
I had to drop this class after midterms because he is a horrible teacher. I asked for help passing and his response was "memorize all we have learned and you will pass this class." Never take this teacher, ever.
Makes the subject very unclear and uses complex methods for solving problems which could be solved easily. Works on problems all class and usually will not allow calculators even for problems that are near impossible without. In one word : horrible.
I've taken Trig before in High school and I remember a lot of it. This class is pretty much review for me but half the time I don't even know what he's talking about. His methods are atrociously long and extended when they don't need to be, and he is condescending and unhelpful even with simple questions. NEVER. TAKING. AGAIN.
Just not very clear about what the goals of each section were.
He is an overall awful teacher, he doesn't grade anything but the tests and the rest are very hard and we don't learn anything in class that's on the test. They're the only thing he grades; ever.
He's genuinely a nice guy but he doesn't teach and his class is almost impossible. If you have any other options take those classes instead.
I took calc in high school and this class was entirely review, but still really hard. He uses ridiculously long processes to answer simple questions. He created a hostile learning environment. If the class didn't ask questions then he would grab his stuff and leave, but if you did ask a question he would treat you like an idiot and embarrass you
He's an okay teacher, doesn't give clear lectures sometimes. Could be more personable.
This is by far the hardest and worst teacher I have ever had. He seems like a decent guy, but makes students feel stupid. You can tell he's very intelligent, but that causes him to be very condescending. Finished with an F in the class. Gave me a very low grade on a TAKE HOME FINAL.
Worst professor ever. Would never recommend him. I had a 95 up until two weeks after midterms and I will be lucky to get a B- now. There was one homework assignment all semester. He doesn't know how to teach. When a question is asked, he won't listen and will answer something completely different. Started with 20 people in class, ended with 4
I took Pre-calc in high school got a B+ both semesters I am good at math too. But this man makes it so overly complicated his tests are so long with no time to take them he will take off points on everything if you don't do it the way he likes it or if you have side work. He is full of himself makes you feel stupid. He over complicated many things
Ridiculously hard class. He literally told us most of us will begin to fail and will drop the class. Encourages you to ask questions but never seems to answer them, loves making you feel dumb. Very picky about the dumbest things on tests, and is definitely the hardest professor on campus. He is a very smart guy but an awful teacher.
I never thought I'd complain about not having homework, but in this class, almost all your grade comes from tests and quizzes, which are near-impossible if you don't assign yourself homework to do to practice. He's a nice guy and knows the content, but if you have poor study habits, you will NOT pass.
He's a good teacher but makes you work for your grade. Take advantage of the practice problems on blackboard and be prepared for pop quizzes. He loves answering questions so be sure to ask. Form study groups with people in your class for the exams, it helps a lot!!!!
Always gotten As in my math classes, but I had to drop this one. Rude, and moves too fast for you to comprehend what you are writing down.
He is a good teacher and knows the subject. You will need good study habits to pass the class though (almost no homework, your grades are exams and quizzes, so assign yourself homework!). He does go a little fast, but provides answer keys for all quizzes and exams after you take them, so thats helpful.
Excellent instructor, people who pass his class will be more prepared for higher up math classes than students who didn't take a class with him. If you take his class, be prepared to study A LOT. Grade is primarily quizzes and exams. If you are having trouble with a topic, utilize his office hours. He is extremely helpful if you have questions.
High expectations, low support. Grades on things done HIS way. Teaches things from "big picture" perspective, not just what you need to know for trig. Homework is rare, but you need to make your own and study his slides. He won't fix your weak algebra in class--work on that in office or tutor lab. Did not curve an awful test or say sorry. Punctual.
He takes off points for things that dont make a difference when learning the content. He writes things on the board without explaining them. He rushes through things and doesnt give enough time for us to answer the questions. Take a different professor or take it at another college.
He gives no credit if you do the work in your head, even if the answer is correct. Not a very understanding professor.
He is a good man and you can tell he likes math and his students. However, he is very unforgiving if you make a single mistake on the problem leading to the answer, so no partial credit. If you do take him just fair warning you are going to stress about getting a good grade. And try not to get behind on homework or understanding the math.
I can honestly say, this is the worst class I've ever taken. I'm not terrible at math but I'm certainly not a wiz, and he didn't help in the slightest. He was rude, dismissive, and made me feel like an idiot every chance he could. He would count you wrong if you didn't do the problem //his// way. The tests were all comprehensive and weigh the grade
Gives lots of homework, which would be good if it related to the material he taught us. He stressed people out because he would ask, 'rhetorical' questions and get upset when no one answered. Would not recommend unless you want someone to make you feel like you're dumb.
Very knowledgeable. However, very "here it is, understand? moving on" Lecture heavy, moves fast, not good for a step-by-step learner. Not sure he understands that we (non math majors) don't know what he (doctor or mathematics) can do in his sleep. Do NOT take this class with other labor intensive classes. You can do it, but it is on YOU.
I hate this class, he doesnt help at all.
Grades homework and quizzes very rough. Dont miss a single thing in class either or youre done for. Homework is moderate, but study hard if you want to pass.
Worst professor I've ever had. He is a harsh grader and a terrible teacher.
The worst professor I have ever had. He calls on random people to answer his questions. If they dont know the answer he will make fun of them in front of the class and complain about us not knowing it. Very particular way of teaching. If you dont follow his way, you are wrong. Never gave homework which is the way I learn how to do math.
Do not take him. People are not lying on here, he's very tough. It's passable if you come to this class already knowleagable on the subject but you will fail if otherwise. Few test are given and if you fail any of them, good luck.
Dr. Bunn is a very smart guy, but he does not know how to communicate his thoughts well through teaching. Take trigonometry before this class, or you are in trouble. If you do take trig and he is your only option, do your best, study hard, and you can pass.
I took trigonometry in high school and did great, he is the worst math teacher I have ever had. He flies through loads of materials, and then the tests do not even cover that material they are just full of random stuff. He is the type of teacher that enjoys to fail students, and hes just a bad guy. I dont know how he has this job but dont take h
Dr. Bunn is a calm guy. Sometimes he moves on too fast, but he opens a lot of time for questions. His office hours are very effective. The quizzes aren't "pop quizzes", he tells you about them beforehand. His tests are jam-packed but the questions are exactly parallel to what goes on in class. Practice when he tells you to and it's an easy A.
I have always been good at math, but Dr. Bunn made me hate it. Every time I opened my mouth, he made me feel like an idiot. He teaches by working out problems on the board but doesn't really explain what he's doing. Because of him, I have to retake the class. He ruined my entire semester. Avoid Dr. Bunn at all costs!
Terrible teacher. I took precalculus in high school, got an A. Im not bad at math, i know what im doing but by no means am i math wiz. This guy does all these problems on the board by himself and says here it is, any quedtions? and expects everyone to know it, then moves on. If you ask a question, he makes you feel like an idiot for not knowing.
Roger Bunn is a very good teacher. His class is hard, but every math class is hard. He gives you plenty of time to study for the test and gives you a lot of resources to use to pass his class. Every lecture he goes up to the board, writes down examples and then goes through the examples. If you struggle to pass, just watch Youtube or review notes.
After the 2nd test, the next day the whole class had all discussed about how we all completely failed the test. He goes through his lectures very fast and does not explain anything. 1 girl I know was upset because she studies a lot and has never failed a class until now. Do not recommend although he is a nice person, but not a good teacher.
Dr. Bunn makes me cry every time he mentions the word exam, due to I have hard time learning with his teaching method. If you get off track for 2 second you wont understand anything due to how fast he goes. Wouldnt recommend taking him.
I would actually recommend self harm over taking this class. Guy told me that " You clearly understand the material and are obviously capable of doing the work but you are just making simple mistakes" on an exam that I got a 58% on.
Absolutely wants students to fail. I failed the first test and the only thing he said to me was that I needed to drop the class immediately and if I did not I was setting myself up for failure and I would get an F. Writes examples on the board and expects everyone to know the answer, does not teach the class.
everything that people say about this professor is true, this professor while very knowledgable is a nightmare if you are trying to get a good grade. I highly recommend either transfering or dropping his class as soon as possible if you care about getting a good grade, he is very tough and shows no mercy on his quizzes or tests.
He does not interpret students' questions well, he is also bad at explaining. He skips around in his math and expects the class to understand his strange transitions. He can be very helpful at study sessions, but during class you are on your own. Very picky grader, although he skips steps in class he expects you to do all of them. Lots of Quizzes.
I would avoid this professor at all cost. He would assign 70+ problems on mymathlab. He would literally walk into class, not greet the students, and just start writing on the board. He would single students out. He made you feel dumb if you asked a question. Overall he was impersonal and extremely intimidating.
I loved having Dr. Bunn as a teacher. At first, I was really nervous because he gave us a review quiz on the first day of class with ZERO warning and it was for a grade. I legit thought about dropping, but I stuck with it and I absolutely loved having him in the end. Make sure to go to his office hours and get help! He will help you!
He makes homework due randomly so you take zeros and does not tell you when the homework is due. It is awful.
Ask questions if you have them..
Dr. Bunn's only con is that there's a TON of homework and his tests are very long as well! Other than that, he's a very inspirational teacher when it comes to teaching advanced mathematics. You can tell he's excited about what he's teaching and that excitement turns over into him trying to get everyone involved in the process of solving the problem
Dr. Bunn was overall a great math teacher and I learned more about math from his class than ever before. However, I felt he was rude to students when they answer wrong and he picks random people to answer questions. You are put on the spot a lot in class, so be prepared. Tests are long but as long as you study you will do well
I think the biggest thing I regret about Dr. Bunn's class was not utilizing the text book more. He's pretty nice and if you want to ask a question he'll be more than happy to answer it, but the best time in after class. I definitely cried over this class, so make sure you understand the work and don't wait till the last minute
Avoid Dr. Bunn at all costs if you do not have a math brain. He just expects everyone to know the answers & if you dont, he WILL make you feel like an idiot! My class was struggling one day & he then proceeded to call the course hopeless for us. Honestly he is making me think about switching my major(& career) so I dont have to take any more math
Worst professor/teacher I've ever had in all of my years of education. Hundreds of homework problems. He never made an effort to get to know students on a personal level. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
He assigns way to much homework. I can understand wanting a lot of practice to get good but we only have so many hours in the day to do it. 80+ problems a week and the first test he scheduled for 4 hours. He does seem to know math very well. My the tool used is expensive and complicated.
Dr. Bunn undeniably knows his math and unfortunately, that is all he knows. Teaching is just not his forte. This class was supposed to be an easy GPA booster considering I took calculus in high school and I have never had a tougher time with math in my life. His passions consist of talking about Desmos calculator and making students suffer.
I do not recommend taking Professor Bunn for any of your math classes. He knows a lot about the subjects and I'm sure that for some people, it works, but for me it did not. He assumes the students know more than they do, and it is very difficult to get your grade back up after it dropping. I would not take his class again for anything.
As a math minor, I can say that Dr. Bunn is by far the worst math instructor I've ever had in my entire academic experience. He made MTH 138(Pre-calculus) so over complicated. Often skipped steps while doing problems in class and roasted students for asking questions. I've taken calc 1-3 all of which were easier than 138 with Bunn. Avoid!
I went into this class and realized this was all review from high school pre calc, so I knew a lot of the concepts and how to do the equations or more that what he taught. however, he'd skip steps in problems or not quite explain everything leaving people confused. if you have to take this class use outside resources, office hours, ask after class
I have never struggled with math but the way he teaches is not easy to learn from. He always went over in class time and all it is is writing notes then homework that some of the assignments where up to 100 questions. I have not learned anything. Would recommend taking either another teacher 100%.
I would recommend taking any other teacher or taking it online somewhere else. By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He made it very hard to pass this class and to get in contact with him. Absolutely terrible and I cannot believe that he is still a teacher here. If there is one teacher i would love to see get fired it would be him.
In my nightmares. I never tried so hard in a class. Homework was understandable, except too much and due dates without warning. Had to use other sources because they were better than his teaching sometimes. He'll make you feel dumb & on edge by his presence. Vague and newly taught topics would be point heavy on the exams. Never consider this man.
Dr. Bunn is an awesome professor! I took differential equations (MTH 333) with him, his classes are challenging but you get to learn A LOT. I feel like I've learnt more from his differential equations class than I did in all of calc 1- 3. He will tailor the course according to you, and he is always available in his office hours.VERY INSPIRATIONAL!
Very deep understanding of math. Equally deep misunderstanding of teaching and communication. Halfway through the class we were assigned an 11 page packet of homework with two days for completion. There was vague preparation for tests and an incredibly harsh curve.
Absolutely do not have a class with this teacher! There was about 1 homework assignment a week ranging from 50-75 questions. Everything you have learned before the test is possible to be on the test even if you learned it 2 days before. The class started out with 40 students and by the end had 15 with everyone left hoping to just pass with a C.
Dr. Bunn is very knowledgable, but his teaching style did not work for me or most of the class. He moves very fast with little explanation and expects people to understand right away. Homework counts for very little, even though most assignments are 75+ questions. Tests cover everything you've learned, even if it was only a few days before.
Dr. Bunn is probably one of the worse teachers I've had, he's great at mathematics but awful at teaching it anytime I had to ask a question he barely answered it. His test are easy in my option along as you practice a lot and do the practice problems he gives you but overall it was a hard class with a couple of annoying pop quizzes.
Anything covered before exam day is on the test. Even if he taught it less than 48 hours ago. Homework is online with, around once a week with close to 100 questions This class is all about memorizing. You have to memorize every ... single ... formula In class work is easy because he provides formulas. Exam day u forget everything, thank u next
His knowledge is great, and is accessible during office hours. If you attend every class, and complete all the homework on your own, you will do just fine. Some of the other reviews are unfounded in my opinion, and seems to be from students who did not arrive ready to take the class seriously.
Dr. Bunn gives lots of homework and quizzes/exams. I ended up enjoying him and the class, as he is helpful after class or via email. There will end up being a LOT of points in the class, and he typically gives a bonus question on the tests. He brings in information from other classes, even if it's not a prerec, so be ready to learn it on your own.
His lectures are understandable. He assign so many homework every week and quizzes announced in advance 1-2 days. He is supportive to answer questions. He is so difficult in grading. But it will be fine if you keep an eye on his grading style. He often have bonus points in some exams. Learning everything he provides before quizzes and exams
Calculus 2 is very challenging compressed into a summer class, so be prepared to devote at least 4 hours a day to homework. I believe the the negative reviews are unfounded. Grade comes from 4 exams and a final. Accessible after class, and cared about my success. Do all the homework, be prepared to work, and you will do good.
Wouldn't recommend him to anyone. A lot of notes, Very hard surprise quizzes, Doesn't know how to engage with students,
The course isn't even half way over, and this is already, by leaps and bounds, the worst professor/teacher I've ever had in my life. He doesn't want you to learn, he wants you to memorize. And if you can't write at the speed of light, you won't finish the tests. He wants to take your points. He does not care. The downfalls of tenure...
He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. I am a student who has always excelled in Math, but Roger Bunn does not know how to teach. He expects you to memorize and doesn't give you the time to finish your tests. I would not recommend him to anyone. If you have the option to choose a different teacher DO IT!!!
He gave out tons of optional homework and his lectures were quick with little explanation of anything. I did about 70% of the optional homework and frequently studied by notes after class. I studied 10+ hours for the first test and got a 48%. The exam had problems that were unlike anything we did in class, and they would've taken forever to solve.
He is a nice guy, but his teaching style did not work for me. As someone who already greatly struggles with math and has never taken a pre calc class before this one, I was very lost. His lectures are very short and confusing and he kinda expects us to know what is happening already. Overall I did not enjoy this class at all.
I am pretty good at math, but I struggled while taking this class. He said if the school allowed him to, he would give us 300 problems every night and expect it done the next day. Homework wasn't for a grade and would only count pop quizzes and exams toward the grade. There was bonus on tests (not enough to save grade) but he doesn't explain well.
Reviews of him are not fair. You must communicate issues or knowledge lapses to him BEFORE the tests come. I struggle with mathematic concepts that are 'theoretical' but he will show proof for every number or letter he write on the board. IF and only IF you communicate to him will he spend as much time as needed to ensure you understand the work.
Just attend class and ask questions, he loves math so much he will entertain any question or suggestion. He offered massive extra credit on my past two exams(weekly or biweekly exams). There is a ton of homework but its helpful.
I took calc 2 over the summer. He gave us 300 problems every night and expected them to be done by the next day. On my first exam, I forgot one tiny thing and instead of getting partial credit, he put a giant X over the whole page and told me I would never succeed in math. After taking it with another professor, I am doing much better.
i feel awful cause he gives so much homework and we have to complete this assignments. The thing is that this assignment we do only covers 10% in final grading. No value of doing assignments.
I would not recommend him to anyone. He gives out a new assignment almost every day and they are 50-100 questions each on average. They take hours to complete, and half of the questions aren't even from the lecture. He answers questions with circular reasoning, which isn't helpful, and sometimes makes us learn a whole chapter on our own time.
I am a math major and have succeeded in all other classes but he told me to my face that I would never succeed as a mathematician because I can't comprehend the material well enough. He is rude and condescending and does not know how to teach then gets upset and makes backhanded comments when the class doesn't understand the material.
Dr. Bunn is not only the worst professor I've ever had, but one of the worst people I've ever met. He talks at you instead of teaching and gets very annoyed with clarifying questions. When asked if we could get a book because we didn't understand, he went out of his way to tell us not to get one. I would not recommend this professor to anyone. 0/10
Just not good.
Dr. Bunn is exhibit A on why tenure ought to be outlawed. People like him inhibit good professors from being able to attain a job. The inadequacy to teach effectively impresses greatly. Allegedly, Dr. Bunn is intellectually gifted. This causes an inability to sympathize with the limited individual.
Dr. Bunn's teaching style may not be for everybody, but he knows his stuff and is willing to answer any question. Sometimes he may make you feel dumb about a subject, but it's because he expects people to learn on their own. This class also has like 10 exams, each building on another, but they each offer a bunch of extra credit opportunities too.
Professor Bunn was extremely helpful and worked with me a lot to help me throughout the semester. That being said, it was a difficult class and the homework assignments averaging around 80 questions made it very hard to stay up to speed with the rest of the class. He is a very generous grader. He gives points for work shown and extra credit a lot.
I emailed Bunn for help during my first semester at MSU asking for help with the material. His response: “[student] I strongly recommend dropping the course IMMEDIATELY. Please do this right away. Dr. Bunn” — I dropped the course and took later with a different professor, got a B. Bunn was horrible. I would recommend taking anyone else first.
very caring, easy to ask questions and clarify doubts. be prepared for a heavy workload on Pearson. You'll need to buy a Pearson access code.10 regular exams, a midterm, and a final exam. If you do well on these, getting a good grade is achievable. Attendance doesn't matter. Overall, he's a good professor if you're willing to put in the effort.
Dr. Bunn provides an excellent experience. While his class is very difficult, he provides students with the needed content in order to succeed beyond the bachelors degree. I am very thankful that I took both calculus two and linear algebra with Dr. Bunn. I am benefiting from his classes greatly as I pursue my masters degree.
Dr. Bunn is the professor you should take if you want to actually improve your math skills. While he definitely makes the class difficult, if you complete the homework and pay attention in class you will do well. He is very good at explaining things, but he also expects a comprehensive knowledge of almost everything from prior classes.
If you have the choice between him and another professor, take the other professor. That being said, he definitely makes sure you know all the course material very well by the end. Lectures can be confusing. Calls on people randomly. Expects a lot. Attend every class or you will miss something vital. Posts everything online, though, which was nice.
Never have I struggled in a math class until I got to him. Explanations are often hard to understand. He never followed a textbook, testing us on things that weren't in the curriculum and skipping things that were. More exams than graded homework. If you try hard you might be ok, but you will probably suffer taking a class headed by Roger Bunn.
I would get physically ill before attending this class because I despised it that much. If you can help it never take a course taught by Roger Bunn
I'm sure Dr. Bunn teaches all of his classes the same. Lecture is very important. He is great at teaching each topic. He cares a lot about what he teaches but his expectations of his students is very high. If you want to fully understand the topic he is teaching, I highly recommend Dr. Bunn. Be prepared to put in the time.
When I walked into class, Roger Bunn made me feel fear in a way that I've never felt fear before. 5/6 people I talked to failed test1 with 20-30%. My friend who took this class previously said he wasn't prepared for calc 3 because calc 2 is not taught here. I cannot give you better advice than to DROP THE CLASS. If you don't... may god help us all.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! my fall 2025 semester was terrible because of this guy. You are going to have to self-teach most of the curriculum. I will make you feel dumb if you ask questions. constantly yells and raises his voice, making you so nervous you can't even focus. does not care about you; his office hours are useless. Good luck!!!
Do not take Dr. Bunn! Doesn't respond to emails. Final is extreme and tests are very difficult. Homework loosely follows in class material. Lectures are absolutely mandatory. Only uses circular reasoning to explain. He is too intellectual to comprehend a student struggling. Memorize every unit circle. I had a fine grade but struggled on the final.
