The worst possible, the man just talks to himself. Toooo fast for any one.

assumes that everyone understands his mumbling
one of the worst teachers i have ever had. do not take any class he is teaching.
Explains very well, never gives anything on exams that he hasn't discussed in class. Pays a lot of attention to careless mistakes. A little bad-tempered and rude. Overall OK.
The worst teacher.DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Hard to understand due to his mumbling. He hand writes his own tests, so be sure to study all the problems you went through in class.
sometimes takes off points for ridiculous things on exams, overall pretty clear. his worst quality is his rudeness... is always late to class, but if someone walks in late he will yell at them and embarrass them! take schwesky for 262 if you can.
If you take this prof. do not trust what he says about upcoming tests. If he says you can use a calculator on a test, do not trust him. Chances are he will change his mind on the day of the test.
He's rude and pretty strict on attendance, but he is not difficult at all. His tests are pretty simple and always on things he has explained. he's pretty rude and bitter, but he does teach pretty efficiently, just don't be late to his class, EVER.
the worst teacher i have ever had. his tests are a bunch of word problems that make no sense. do not take him
man these lazy a** ppl dog all these teachers jus coz they lazyyy.tishler is easy if u try in his class. yes he mumbles a LIL but he will help u if u ask. a lil rude but his exams are SO EASY. like 12 probs n theyre EXACTLY like in the book.RATE NICE PPL!
if you wanty a teacher who thinks he has all the answers and what you say doesnt matter than he's your man. just try and go to the bath room and see if he doesnt lock you outof the room!
Explains very well. All questions answered perfectly. He just comes in and says "what problems should I do?" No homework. Uncertain on calculators!!! JUST DONT BE LATE
NEVER BE LATE! hes a lil rude, but teaches well. his tests are exactly like examples in class... n he's really clear, i always understand how to do it when he explains it.

Very fast paced class with lots of homework. Unless you already know math, or have a real nack for it DO NOT take him. He is honestly the worst teacher I've had. He is very impatient and dicourages you to see him for help, he sends you to math lab.DO NOT TAKE HIM, PERIOD!
I took him 2 semesters in a row. My first impression was He hates students. The following semester I realized This guy is an Excellent teacher, His lesson plans are clear and staight forward. You will have alg. down after taking him. And you wont ever be late to another class!
If you're a lazy slacker who likes to walk in a few minutes late, then this guy is NOT for you. Otherwise, he's pretty straight forward. Tests are like homework and examples, so study the homework and examples, duh. Also, it's funny when he gets ticked off and locks people outside.
he is little rude, you have to be exactly on time and if you miss more than 6 classes he'll drop you from the coarse...he teaches very well and easy exams, just do the homeworks...DO NOT SLEEP IN HIS CLASS...he'll kick you out..no cell ringing,,too many rules, treats you like high school kids...ok
he's strict when it comes to attendance BUT he's a really good teacher. i'm really bad at math and i came out with a B at the end of the semester. He doesn't grade homework, your grade will come from the chapter tests... take notes and review and you'll do fine!
Strict teacher but he really wants you to learn the material. He is a very effective teacher and makes you learn the material. Take him if you have a hard time in math he really explains step by step.
He constantly made me feel as though I was stupid and when I asked for help because I wasn't understanding the material, he just wouldn't help and instead made me feel as though I was dumb because I didn't understand!! :(
too fast paced. hates students. tests are hard. no calculators allowed.
This teach is something esle. He's a great professor when it comes to teaching but sometimes he's rude to the student. Really strict on attendance and will actually lock his door to late students. He grades his tests with "F" or "F-" or "F--" really weird guy. Don't take him, avoid him if possible.

calc is a hard class overall, so u need to put in the time and effort if math does not come to u naturally. tishler is an awesome guy, very understanding and will answer any questions! i dropped cuz calc is too hard, but tishler is a good teacher. any1 who wrote bad things about him is obviously a bad student to begin with who is not willing 2 work
One of the best calculus teachers i have ever had. If you expect to take this class and learn only quantatative4 skills then you are in the wrong class. Tishler explains not only how to solve, but why. If you truly want to understand calculus and go in depth I would greatly recommend this class. It would easily strengthen your bases.
He's actually a pretty good teacher. His lectures are clear & step-by-step; offers thorough explanations even on past concepts. He's approachable, just anal about attendance (WILL lock doors) & sleeping in class. Tests are simple & hw is optional but trust me, to do them is in ur best interest(= omg its not even a lot, just DO THE HW).
Teacher is anal about timing! But great professor. Teaches you the topic clearly and throughouly. Has no accent! Makes sure u understand the topic before continuing. Grade u receive is grade u deserve! Teaches excellent and grades as-is. Homework is optional, but helps for you to do them. Tests come from homework, notes, and last semesters tests!
His class is easy if you do all the homework. the tests basically come out of the hw and notes. He makes a lot of mistakes when lecturing so doesn't really know the subject very well.
If you can show up to class on time, every day, pay attention, and take notes, then this teacher is for you. His lessons are clear and his teaching strategy is rather effective, although he does falter and make things too confusing occasionally. Avoid him if you have poor attendance habits; you'll be doing yourself and him a favor.
No less then 5 absences aloud. Grades only 5 tests and a final exam. Tests are easy if you do your homework. Homework is assigned everyday, but he doesn't collect it. If you had a calc class before hand.. this is the professor to take! if you like math, this is the guy u want.. just ask questions and do/understand the homework you'll get an A+
Good lecturer, makes material easy to understand. Will stay back after an early dismissal to help with studying. No calculators on exam.
dropped him after a month of torture. He's called the math nazi for a reason. Also is very condescending when speaking to students.
He locks the doors when class starts, allows no calculators, never collects homework, and calls roll every day. He does not drop a test, so make every test count. He's a friendly person who you could ask anything. His class is easy compared to high school AP Calc.
You have to come to class on time or he humiliates you infront of everyone lol, locks the door if ur late too much, verrry clear instructions in his lectures, minimal hmwk, exams straight out of the homework, multiple choice, doesnt drop lowest grade but reaaaly easy exams, just do the work! His class is actually only 45minutes!Take him he's great!
good teacher that explains concepts very well. his tests are generally easy throughout the semester but the final is a insane. missing one class can be the difference between an 'a' or a 'b'
His lectures are really clear that you do not even need to buy a book other than to copy the homework. His tests are straight from his notes and from the homework, so if you are not doing well, it must be because of your algebra or because you "do not understand the calculus." He is very strict but awsome professor. No bothering with calculators :)
Excellent teacher, very strict, easy tests but killer final. I'm still wearing black, mourning the death of my grades.
I still don't understand. I got 3 A's on his tests (two were perfect scores) and 2 B's, and yet i got a C in the class. sure..he starts out with easy tests, but then throws a killer final in the end. I'm still bitter over that.
He is very enthusiastic about the subject. He doesn't like distractions like latecomers and cell phones because it distracts from his very deep train of thought. Find extra problems in the book to do because the assigned homework is not enough. Final is a killer...multiple choice with no partial credit. Study every example in the notes for it.
He is SUCH a jerk about adding people! He won't do it at ALL! He's hard too. Don't take him.
He's one of very few professors I'd love to take another class with. He's definitely not flexible with pp coming late to class but he's very organized and passionate about teaching. He prepares his lecture every day before coming to class so that he knows what to cover and not miss out sth. And trust me, the final is NO killer at all if you study.
This teacher knows how to teach but he's the most anal mathematic teacher you'll ever meet. He has no pity for anyone. there are 5 exams and 1 final. He doesn't drop one. Final is 3421109341 times harder than exams. Even if you have 89.99999999999% in the class, you get a B. you must come to class everyday, on time, locks you out if late. ASS
yes, he is anal. BUT HIS LECTURES ARE EXTREMELY CLEAR AND CONCISE. calculus is a hard subject, so obviously it requires extra studying on your part. if you expect to get an easy A, then this isnt the class for you. do the assigned hw, if you have a question, ask him how to do it. go over lecture notes and you'll do well. NOTE: VERY HARD FINAL. stud
He spends a lot of time proving the theorems. I think that time would be better spent working on more examples of how to use the theorems. He expects you to memorize definitions for the exam, pretty much word for word, when really, if you can work out the problem, you obviously understand the concept. I dont agree with his style of teaching.
HE LOOKS LIKE THE LAKERS COACH.. AND HE HAS A LISP. I THINK HES A VERY GREAT PROFESSOR! HE TEACHES VERY THOROUGHLY AND IF U HAVE QUESTIONS FOR HIM HE HAS ANSWERS FOR YOU. YOU WILL LOVE HIM. HES GREAT!
I took him twice and had to drop both times after busting my ass every night. I found him VERY unhelpful. tests are straightforward - i never took the final, and he does always let class out early. once i switched instructors, i got an A. if you are not strong in math, you will not do well in this class. if you are and you study, youll do fine.
I studied pretty hard for this class. I still got a C in the class. That's 5 units, so it's 5 Cs. This lowered my GPA like crazy. I don't recommend at all. I thought I was a math wizard; obviously I thought wrong. And the questions on the final have like 8 or 12 multiple choice answers. I still wonder how I did on that final.
i have been failing math for years. Tishler is incredible!! He is extremely clear, and wants you to learn. i would take him for 125 if i could.
I took his class several years ago, so if he has changed maybe he is better. He would constantly tell our class we were stupid for having to take math 125, he brought his misbehaved child to class, which was very disturbing and he is the hardest math grader I have ever had and I have taken many math courses since then. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
High emphasis on conceptual stuff, he really wants you to know why you take derivatives ect. Very strict about coming on time, not sleeping, and phones ringing. I don't know why everyone says the final is so hard, there were no tricks or ridiculous numbers and it's multiple choice, just read the book and know when to do everything and you'll be ok
This guy is a real ****...he wonders why the class starts out with 40 students and is down to 13 by the end of the semester with half of them getting D's or F's...80% of the class didn't even finish the final, and he didn't even care/ This guy seems to have never heard of a curve...probably just to damn lazy to instill it. A real lazy joke.
Do the homework and take notes, and you will be fine! He makes the subject understandable and pretty much gives you every detail that will be on the test!! Put in a little study time and effort and you'll pass for sure! Show up for class and don't be late, he gets a very annoyed by that.
mr. tishler is NOT a good teacher. he is very lazy & UNclear. He makes a lot of mistakes while teaching and the exams are NOT fair. he can teach a subject for 30 minutes and then comes "you know what..thats not correct" and he starts all over again... plus he is a very rude person and not helpful at all!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM
PLZ BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER, at the 1st day of school he was throwing students out 4 being late. he teaches his class like high school, u cant leave the class room without his permission or be late. he doesnt review for tests,no help at all. teaches for 20 mins and then sits down.MAKES ALOT OF MISTAKES& NOT A GOOD TEACHER.
if you want to pass this class...DO NOT TAKE HIM. worst teacher ever.i dropped the class b/c of him, very unclear, lectures did not help at all, i was lost half the time. he even admits he doesnt know statistics. BASICALLY, DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!
thing about this guy is he teaches well but his test are effing horrible... all multiple ch. anyway you do the problem all possible answers are listed. no credit for effort!
He has a distinct Irish accent with a trace of bronx, but he's very easy to hear and understand. He's very inflexible about lateness/absences, which is a good thing. His explanations are very clear. Good Calc teacher.
very strict about tardiness like many have experienced but even thought hes strict, his teaching methods really heplped me understand the material. All you have to do is just put in some effort and you will do good in his class. Oh and dont be late, he will kick or lock you out of his room :) personal experience
Very strict on attendance and tardiness but he is very clear on the material that he teaches. He doesnt expect you to know everything so he goes step by step until later on in the course he starts taking shortcuts because we already know why he goes that route :) oh and dont be late, he will kick you out or lock you out. Personal Experience :)
ok, so basically all this guy does is talk to the board the whole class time and if you ask him to clarify something for you he makes it even harder. i studied my ass off every night for 3 hours and i still got a D! no wonder his class starts out with 30 people and ends up with 8
I like this professor even though I wasn't able to get in the class to add it when there are 1 million seats available, Jesus. He waited for a week to make a lottery wth... Anyway if you want to learn Math 115 take him. He teaches the class really well. Sometimes he jokes around but is really corny. I think this prof is a nerd!! DON'T BE LATE AIGHT
tishler is a poor teacher kicks you out if you're late to class but he is oftin late himself. he's one of thoese teachers that is there for a paycheck and could care less for his students. 5 tests no curve no extra credits no quizes. he goes over material at his pace and ends classes early leaving students to fend for themselves. dont take this guy
horrible prof. kicks you out when you are late. i had 1 absence over the limit and he dropped me that day.
this professor teaches very well, he has very low tolerance for foolish people, if you just pay attention you will learn material. He is also an ex-marine, so he runs a disciplined class, and busts you if youre late, it is actually entertaining to watch him kick people out. hoorah! keep "devil dog'n" those late students! students
This class is very straightforward. All the tests Qs are based off hw and notes. Study your notes VERY VERY carefully. The final is multiple choice. No curve and ur grade is an average of the %s on each test. Show up on time otherwise ull get kicked out. If u do ur hw every nigh t, ask Qs on wht u dont get, and study the notes ull get an A.
Excellent teacher. You will never look at math the same again. Very clear about excpectations. Follow what he says and you'll do well. Don't be late. Even a minute. Speak up and ask questions. Do homework every night. Despite other comments on here, this teacher really does care about whether or not you pass.
HORRIBLE TEACHER. what the hell are you talking about he cares about his students? he teaches for 30 mins and then sits down and stares at everyone, MAN PIERCES PROFESSORS ARE HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM!
He explains the material really well. His class is tough though. If you work hard and really listen to him, you will become a better mathematician. If you want a math/science degree, he is a great professor. There's stuff I learned from him in lower level math that I still use instead of the methods they're teaching me in more advanced classes.
this teacher can be real strict, he hates phones going off and makes you leave the class, he locks the doors some times when class just starts. Other than that, he is one of the best professors I have taken, he explains everything well and makes algebra understandable
HORRIBLE TEACHER. Seemed more interested in degrading students than teaching. I was initially bad at math and he made it worse. He is also very picky about phones, sleeping, and especially tardiness. He will make late students walk back out and then go out and yell at them and not let them in that day.
Slackers don't bash this GREAT prof. He is very clear, easy grader (partial credit on exams) & cares greatly for students uderstanding of the material. Yes if you are late CONSTANTLY you will be asked to leave, how is that wrong? Do the HW and take notes, you will pass no problem. Highly recomend this prof.
He is a very rude teacher and his class is very boring!! dont take him!!
He's the worst math teacher I've ever had, and I've had a couple of horrible ones. He speaks so quickly and writes so fast, you can't even finish your notes before he erases them. Half the time we hoped he was absent. He offers help but then makes himself unavailable and doesn't even hint as to what's on the test so you're lost when you take it.
Very clear professor. Well prepared just about all of the time. The homework assigned was not collected at all, but rather used to apply the lessons learned in the class that day. Anyone that complains about him for geometry probably didnt study or do the homework. Attendance is mandatory until the last few weeks.
good at teaching, if you want to learn, very strict but out of concern for students.
I just dropped his class today. Spring 2009. This is his first time teaching 262 in a while so he was choppy. Lectures were too fast. Compared to other professors he was 2 chapters ahead. His tests are about 6 problems each. He has 5 tests total and a final. Total 600 points.DOESN'T DROP ANY. Attendance is mandatory. Take only if you took 262
He is the second greatest Math teacher I ever. I had took him for Math 115. I can honestly say he is one of the few good teachers left. i can't wait for calculus with him! Five quizes make sure you study and do the assignments because he takes problems from there and puts them in to the quizes.
Any retard who rates all "1's" should kill themselves, because they don't appreciate the teacher. Hey morons, the teacher earned the degree. Stop being so lazy.
Professor Tishler is the BEST! He runs a disciplined, no-nonesense class. His tests come straight from lecture and homework. I went in knowing absolutely nothing about algebra, and came out having learned A LOT. Show up to class on time and do the homework assigned and you should be fine. A great teacher and a gentleman. I love you Prof. Tishler.
He is definitely a great teacher. Anyone who left negative comments are wrong. If you want to learn Calculus, take this professor! Make sure you do the homework even though it will not be collected. Note though, he does not drop any tests and there are 5 tests and a final exam all of which were reasonable. I personally got an A in the class.
Spent all semester teaching vectors in a business math class. No Calculus taught at all.
horrible teacher very unclear once, i repeat once i was late and he made me stand outside would not let me in until he came to let me in to explain that you could not be tardy, and he left me out there for fifteen minutes. goes way to fast and does not review for tests and only shows you his way to do math problems. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE TEACHER.
Good teacher.Runs very disciplined class- you cannot be late.Exams are straightforward- take notes and do homework;guranteed good grades
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! HE IS HARD ON GRADING BASICALLY YOU HAVE TO PASS ALL YOUR EXAMS ..YOU FAIL ONE YOUR GRADE DROPS! HE GIVES HOMEWORK EVERYDAY BUT ITS NOT A LOT..DONT BE LATE HE WILL KICK YOU OUT..HIGH STANDARDS TYPE OF GUY..EX VETERAN
If you want to pass, do your homework and ask question. Simple as that. He is very open and clearly know what he's teaching about. If you don't want to spend any time for HW, don't take. This class worth your effort off the class.
Tishlers class was alright. ur grade is only based on 5 exams and he doesnt drop any. they arent hard but they also arent easy. hw isnt mandatory but will help try paying attention in class, that will also help alot, its easy to daydream. he explodes in anger when he sees someone with their cell phone or calc. overall just work hard and ull be fine
he is a very good professor.he teaches the material very good and each time he gives a little homework that is optional.at the begining of every session he answers the questions. 5 tests 6-10 questions each(homework type problem)that are a little hard. DO(very important)the homeworks and study for exams and it's a easy A. we had more than 3 people
He's a good guy and helps if you ask. Do the homework (not mandatory) and show up. People that **** about this guy are generally lazy folks who show up late consistently (until he locks them out).
The class material is not complicated but, you have to pay attention. The tests require you to learn and understand the material. I don't recommend Tishler because, he is not lenient with his grading. The final is hard and the tests can't be made up or dropped. If you are not good at math definitely do not take this class.
Demoralizing-thats the worst I can say about him. His lectures are fine, if a bit too fast to follow, but he makes discouraging comments all the time. He lets you know that he dumbs down the class for you so if you do well it doesn't reflect your math skills. But I RECOMMEND HIM as Pierce doesn't have better alternatives (except Tabatabai-take her)
Great teacher. Lectures are very clear and organized. Homework is optional but, since the tests come from the homework, it is highly recommended that you complete the homework. Don't ever be late or use your cell phone in class, do the homework, and you'll get an A.
This teacher could not care any less about his students, if you don't do well on one of his tests your automatically screwed for the rest of the class. NOT RECOMMENDED. Makes mistakes, and spits everywhere when he lectures TIP: dont sit in the front row unless you want Tishler to rain on you
Just VERY hard tests. I showed up every day on time and thought I had grasped the subject but the test was like a slap to the face. If you fail one, your grade is pretty much done. Besides that he is a very nice person. Also he is a little fast on the notes.
If you have a question you might as well keep it to yourself because Tishler will tell you why you shouldn't be asking the question as he breezes over a half-explanation. The least motivated teacher I have ever experienced. Loses his temper and throws things (tests) would rather yell and get upset than help a class who is having trouble.
Taught everything BUT what the class was supposed to be about. Spent all semester on Matrices - which has never helped me in my entire career. Dropped the class. I thought I passed the 1st test until I found out about the 5 problems on the back of the page - he never told us he was using both sides of the paper!!!
Extremely rude at times. Makes constant mistakes. Busywork tests, 6 questions per, 5 tests, no other material for grading. 3/4 of students failed tests in both classes. Cut 20 minutes out of class time every day. You're chastised for being 45 seconds late. Discriminates at times. Take as a last resort or don't take at all. Afraid of technology too
Not an easy class to be sure, but when is this stuff easy? He proves any theorem that you use before he will let you use it, never asks you to take his word for it. He moves quick but the classes are usually cut a little short. Graded on 4 tests which are right out of the homework, and I do recommend you do some homework. Comulative final.
4 tests one cumulative final, thats it - About 6-8 questions each test so one mistake will cost you your grade. Must attend class, about 60 % of people will drop or take a W. Good teacher hard class
Stay VERY far away. DO NOT TAKE (not even as a last resort). Extremely difficult teacher. Grade is based on 4 tests and a final. 5 questions per test. One mistake can cost you your grade. Doesn't drop any tests. Doesn't curve. Doesn't grade hw. Doesn't give quizzes. Majority of students will drop. I do not recommend him at all. STAY AWAY.
Its hard but calc's hard.. he teaches well just make sure to ask about the homework and do it!!! maybe twice and extra problems study you'll do fine.. I'm getting a D, I don't like how he grades but he does give some credit for wrong answers so check ur answers study and he is a great teacher.
Takes attendance so you have to go to class. His lectures are hard to follow. He spends a lot of time going over proofs that he puts on the tests. He's a harsh grader. Most people drop. Try to take another teacher.
He is great. He teaches everything and his tests are from homework. He loves students who are polite.
he is a nice professor. He teaches and explains clearly ! His tests are based on the exercises he gives u. I wish I can take him in Calc 2! And oh, don't come late to class !
He's OK. asked us to mark our answers in a scantron sheets. so no partial credits. It can cost u a grade. Good prof. explanations are clear. Do your homework you'll be all right.
Overall, he's a good professor. Most of the negative feedback on here is from lazy students! He doesn't trick you on exams, 80% of the exams are based on the homework. Dont came late to class, and you'll be fine.
The things you should know about this prof. : Attendance IS mandatory, he'll drop you after 3 absences. So go. Doesn't accept hw and has only 5 tests and the MET. There is little room for error and this class is almost impossible to get an "A" in (unless you're a math whiz) Overall nice guy though. Just don't be late!
This is college. Stop complaining about mandatory crap, like hw or attendance. Yes, this class is hard. Not an easy "A" But he's not all bad. Just strict.
Professor Tishler is one of the funniest professors alive. He has a unique sense of humor. He was very clear about the concepts of Calculus 1 and taught all of them well. However, his class is not for slackers at all. I studied really hard and got an A.Make sure you spend time doing his homework cause some problems are straight out of the homework.
Before taking Tishler, I was worried by all these negative reviews. He may be a strict professor, but his teaching method is very clear and his sense of humor is quite unique. If you put in the work, you will get the result. He's very helpful at office hours too (very approachable as well). I highly recommend taking him for Calc 1
