Mr. Hall is hella komedy - he makes history chill / funny... his slide shows R good and lectures R also good. I rekomend this guy 2any one taking history - espesh us 1877 to present...
This guy hides behind films and slides. Thinks he's all that w/the girls. Don't be fooled. He's 2 hip 4 u. That's all for now. 10-4.
take the video class...but dont bother watching the videos! just read....all you have to do is answer essay questions, write an essay and take a final
Bring a bag of popcorn and a pillow for viewing
Loved this class, took it two years ago, but I still remember things I learned into. His lectures are great.
I love Mr. Hall, i think he's the sexiest coolest teacher ever! I loved his class.
UR A BOMB TEACHER KEEP IT UP
He's really fun to watch and listen to because he's very cute and funny.
Dr. Hall's class was very informative. He is a very fair grader. The class I took was an internet class. There was a lot of reading and a few essays but they were fun to write--he allowed us to pick 4 out of 11 to write on. The topics were interesting. Expect to have to work--but the tests are right from the text.
I think this guy is great! His class is a little slow at times, but cracked me up at times. He is willing to work with you if you need the help. He is a good teacher and enjoys teaching. The class is fairly easy.
Simple system. He gave us the assignments and tests well in advance. If you have the time, you can get an A. This waas a video course, but it was hard to "align" the videos with the actual coursework--you don't need to watch them to do well.
Not an easy course, but if you put effort in you will learn a great deal. He is always there to help you, but directions are clear so you can do it on your own. The DVD's give good perspective.I recommend this course to those who want to learn.

He's hot, funny and is pasionate about history and teaching. The assignments may seem hard at first, but stick it out and you'll be happy.
Awesome teacher. Very sassy hair.
Great guy, wonderful instructor!! Must take history with him!!! His energy is contagious!!! His passion will inspire you...never makes history boring...
Purely awesome....love that sassy hair. Watch out he might throw things.
Great Class, awesome teacher. It is a waste to take him online--he is a must have in person. I highly recommend Dr. Hall
mr. hall is hilarious and totally keeps your interst. i had him as an 8:00 class, and no one was sleeping! he will make you laugh and you will learn a lot of interseting/ weird things you never would have learned from another teacher. the sassy hair was good.
Great teacher for internet, lots of essays, but they arent hard to complete... Very understanding when it comes to errors and confusions with due dates, etc...
Thumbs up. One of the best teachers here.
I am currently taking two classes with Dr. Hall, Hist 108 and Honors History. In a world of demanding teachers, he can give you a break! The essay assignments may seem a little daunting at first, yet they are always interesting so you usually can find something to say. Understanding about deadlines and stuff and gets input from students.Great teach
Works hard to be interesting & entertaining, and to give assignments that increase memory retention and social awareness. Takes his responsibility to teach seriously, yet often uses levity to get the info across. Yeah, he's cute, but that's secondary to who he is as a teacher & person. Dr. Hall will make you love history & the process of learning.
Addendum: My comment is below, but for some reason I ticked the #2 on Easiness rather than number #3, which is what I meant to check off. Dr. Hall isn't an easy teacher, but he's reasonable and is willing to make adjustments if a class seems stressed. If you take good notes, pay attention to his lectures and do the work, you'll get a good grade.
Good teacher, thourough and willing to help.
Dr. Hall is a good teacher.
Dr Hall is cool, but you will have to work hard for an A or B.
Dr. Hall is awesome! He's my favorite professor of all time! He was really funny and made History (my least favorite subject before I took his class) very interesting. He really knows what he's talking about, and he always helps if you're having trouble. History isn't all that bad when you take it with Dr. Hall. DR. HALL ROCKS!
I took his online history course. The only assignments were 31 (one for each chapter of the book), 25 questions tests , that would take a little more than an hour to complete if you look up all the answers in the book. There are also a few written questions to answer. If you do approx 2 tests a week, its an easy class.
Funny yet at times boring. Easy class and if the reading is done an easy A.
Thought that the class was very easy. I took the online course and if I had stayed on top of it I would've received an A. Word to the wise get as many chapters done as fast as possible!
He is such a great teacher, I plan on taking future HIST courses with him. Is very clear and helpful. Roger Hall ROCKS!
Great Teacher. Not boring at all, he's pretty funny. Easy Class requires a lot of reading....but what history class doesn't? I would recommend him over all the other History teachers at Hancock.
I took his online class, it was very easy (if you did the reading). The only thing was he took awhile to grade the discussions, so you really did not know how you were doing until the very end. 15 discussions and 16 tests (he dropped one) Graded fairly.
He's a great teacher! Really funny and really nice. It's an easy class except for the online tests, which require a lot of reading. But if you do the reading then you're sure to get an A. I'd definitely recommend him
I took Hist 108 online. Had to read a chapter each week and take a test and discussion. The test were timed and open book but they tests were hard. He is horrible at grading in time. I didn't have my final grade for a couple of weeks after the class ended. Also 16 weeks is forever for an online class.
With as many papers he supposedly reads, it is hard to believe he could my work. Like one student said he takes a while b/c he has too many classes. He must be hard up for money
No doubt he must be entertaining in person. But with 400 to 500 students or more in his online classes, he doesn't read papers like he should. Too bad. Probably sold out for the home renovations.
HE WAS SO SO... I guess.. funny!
i took it online and it was the worst class ive ever taken! it was a ton of timed tests which were very hard! i got As on a few of them but they took a lot of preparation. i had to eat, sleep, and breathe history for 16 weeks, and the day it it was over was the happiest day of my life.
Took his online early American history course. I really liked it! It was very intense and a lot of work, but just because a class is online doesn't mean you can slack off. Can't wait to take another of his history classes this summer! The book he chose was very good and not the typical cookie cutter Amercian history book.
Good Teacher. Not a lot of work but when there is an assignment he requires some effort! his class is pretty fun also!
I had Dr. Hall for a DL and lecture class and I think that he is one of the best instructors at Hancock. He's passionate but funny and serious when he needs to be. If you care about your education/grade, attend class and/or read the book (i.e. DL class) you'll pass. If you're a competent college student a B or an A should be no problem.
oK THIS Teacher Is funnY YES I agree but he grades REally HArd...and sometimes his lectures are Boring because of the fact that he WRITES TOO much ....ANd THe FORum was too BIg ..I thought iT would be easy but when he grades it like wow ! HE talks ALot but HE's Funny ...I DNT LIKE HES GRADING :(
Take it online during the summer. Best Class Ever! And I hate history, or even take it during the fall online. A little more reading but still pretty easy.
He was a good teacher, but his tests were terrible. His questions focused on random tidbits, and 2 hours never seemed to be enough time for his maticulous questions.
Dr. Hall is an amazing instructor! If we had more instructors who taught like him, the world would be a great place!! He isn't an easy teacher, you have to work for a good grade. It pays off to come to class, read your book, and take notes especially when he describes how he wants an essay written. He deserves an award.
Tons of reading. Does not answer emails. Leaves you on your own. Class has a lot of reading but if you do the reading and assignments you should get an a or b.
Dr. Hall's skill set continues to amaze me. I had his first two classes he taught when he first arrived at Allan Hancock College. He is a very animated and lively teacher who truly loves history. His test are perfect for those who can follow instructions, listen and do the home work. If you want to screw off and act like a troll, Take Bierly.
Took an online summer course and found the tests to be simple, but the discussion board posts were graded pretty tough. I consider myself a good writer and found it difficult to get the 'A' I hoped for. Read the text and keep up on the HW and you will pass.
Funny, funny, funny! If you are not interested in history, you will think him tedious. But if you love history, he is great.
He does power point lectures, he's really funny, take notes and the assignments are written for you, there's 10 ch tests online which are open book and you get 2 hours to do it, you can go over(don't wait till last minute). There is a final it's T/F, (you get to pick b/w 3 time periods and it's open note) There is also a final essay that's 100 pts
Doesn't answer emails. Lectures are a waste of time. His is funny but you really don't learn anything. Tests are horrible. They are online so you can use the book but he words them so badly that its nearly impossible to find the answers in the book. He claims the questions aren't tricky but they are. Nice person, terrible professor.
Tests are not based on lectures. The lectures don't teach anything, but you loose points if you miss them.
Dr. Hall is fun and easy going, but he grades very unfairly. The tests he assigns you to take (10 on the internet) are worded very strange, to trick you. He never let's you see the results of your tests, which is an unfair, I never could learn from my mistakes! The class was very difficult and unfair.
By far the best teacher I have taken. Althought I hated history, he actually made it interesting. He is easy to talk to and very understanding. His online class is very simple, he gives you like three weeks to complete a set of 4 assignmets which you can find in "his" book. The final exam consist of only true/false. I wish there was more teachers l
Funny teacher, makes history interesting. There are 10 mult choice ch tests online that you have to take. open book, and two hrs to take them. take notes on his powerpoint lectures for assignments and the final. final is T/F 90 questions, open note. also a final paper of 2,000 words (ours was on welfare) Take him
Dr. Hall is a wonderful instructor. I was entertained as well as educated during hus lecture and the book was very informative and a pleasure to read. I highly recommend him!
I did not like this teacher a single bit. The only people who actually enjoy his lectures are really weird kids that sit in the front row. He doesnt teach a single thing that has to do with the tests which is plain ridiculous. Useless teaching and a huge waste of money. DONT TAKE HIM.
Coolest history teacher i have ever met. he tries not to make it boring the test was open book and he wrote the book. teaches right out of the book which he wrote. haha the final essay was the hardest part. Cool teacher, interesting class. as long as you pay attention and engage in lectures the class doesn't suck.
Dr. Hall is an awesome teacher!
Hall is easily my favorite professor here at Hancock. Not only does he resemble Cameron Frye from Ferris Bueller's Day Off, he's also an incredible teacher. I always look forward to attending his class and I always learn something new. The workload isn't that bad, but don't fall behind. With a little effort, you can easily earn a "A" in the class.
I'm glad I'm taking his class, I love history and his lectures are entertaining (at least to a history nerd like me) He doesn't try to kill you with the workload, he just wants you to learn. Hall is a very caring teacher, take him! He gives great relationship advice! And type using Georgia font -Sincerely, the weirdo(s) sitting in the front :)
Kinda reminds me of Joel from MST3k! Entertaining class, very interesting content. Gives periodic tests which are easy, and assigns writing assignments that are a little more difficult. Puts his assignments online and is a considerate teacher. I suggest taking a class of his, both because it's easy if you attend and because he makes it interesting
RHall is the man. Go to class, listen, take notes, and you'll learn a lot. Not a lot of work, gives you a heads up if something is going to be due in the near future. Plus he looks like Roger Waters. I highly recommend you take RHall over any other history professor teaching the same course.
Funniest teacher at AHC. Love his class, take notes and don't miss class and you will pass. Online tests are from the book, so really become familiar with the chapter you're being tested on. He knows his history.
I took one of his online classes. The writing assignments were fairly easy, so long as you?re detailed and put forth effort (as is the case with any class). My only complaint is that he sometimes takes forever to grade an assignment.
He says he doesn't try to trick us with the test questions, but I have to say I disagree. The wording isn't straightforward and I usually only got 27/30 despite reading and understanding the entire chapter..he's a tough grader. Often asks you to write two whole paragraphs on something that takes two sentences to explain. He's okay, but frustrating.
Dr. Hall was a great Professor and made this clas very interesting. The tests were tough but if you paid attention and read the material like I did then you will do fine. I found no interest in this subject before taking the class and came out of it with alot of knowledge. I would highly reccommend Dr. Hall.
Dr. Hall is awesome and very funny! I highly reccommend him. I agree that if you want to do well sit toward the front because there are distractions. Before this class I had no interest in History and now I realize how important the subject is. Tests are tough but if you read the material ahead of time you will do great. I loved this class! Thank
Going to his class was something that I looked forward to, he is so funny and makes history really interesting. My only complaint was the the material taught in class was not the same as the material of the text book. The online quizzes are difficult, I worked my butt off and got a C. But he's a pretty nice guy =)
pretty good teacher
Awesome teacher! Very funny and makes class enjoyable. I would definitely take another one of his classes! BEST!
What a genuine awesome teacher! He is sooo funny easy and does not require a text book. The only down side to that is people who talk too much during his lectures because you dont have anything to fall back on. Great Teacher!!!! Easy A!
Amazing professor! I took his class to take care of one of my G.E. classes and would take a class of his again just because he is such a good instructor. Dr. Hall knows what he is talking about and makes every lecture interesting. Really fun class, and not too much work. Definitely the best history class I've ever taken!
awesome teacher!!!!!!!! good job hancock!
Mr. Hall, is by far the best history teacher ever. This is my second class I've taken with him and he i s just awesome. Extremely fair grader and if you miss one or two points hes really good about giving you good feedback to improve your score. Very Helpful. Its no wonder he doesn't ever have any complaints :)
Love Dr.Hall!! Awesome!
This class was really fun. The majority of the online course is read the chapter and take a test, and then you mix in some writing assignments. So long as you write competently he should not be a problem. He's a fair grader; although he never gave me full points on any essay.
This is the second class I took with Mr. Hall online. He presents a fair course load, and he isn't a rigorous grader; although he is not the easiest.
Dr. Hall's online history class often felt like an after thought. Things dont get graded for a very long time, and you never quite know exactly what he is looking for. If you want a interactive online class, with an interactive online professor, this is not the class. I didn't want to be babysat of course, but I wanted to know how to get an A.
Good teacher. Exams were open book- but to get an A you need to have memorized the material before the exam (book is a reference guide). He assigned a LOT of essays, I felt like I was in English class. The essays were time consuming but they helped me to learn. To get an A on the essays be concise and back up EVERY statement with examples.
The course wasn't difficult. 14 Essays, 9 Image Assignments and 7 Blog assignments. Half the class due for midterms, the rest at the end. He gave everyone a two-day extension at the end of the class. No tests. Will help you via email if you're not asking around the day the assignments are due. A lot of work but manage the time for your assignments.
I recently took History 107 with Professor Hall. You write a LOT of essays. He does have an extra credit assignment that you can substitute for 2 essays. A lot of reading, no tests, but like I said a lot of essays/writing. Nice teacher. He will respond to you if you have questions.
Very subtly funny and kept my attention the entire class period! Very clear and knowledgeable. Makes himself available for hmk discussion. His only test was very difficult making you memorize every little detail so beware in that aspect. Also assigned many essays. Thoroughly enjoyed his class and would take again.
Dr. Hall was my absolute favorite teacher! I'm not to into history but his class was by far my FAVORITE! I looked forward to his class each and everyday! Although his lectures were long he made them fun! I thought he was hilarious I learned a lot from his class I definitely recommend taking his class if you can.
I enjoyed the material, the history of California was interesting however the assignments seem pretty clear and you can go at your pace but apparently they were not correct because he is a tough grader!!!!! Very difficult. It either or hit or miss with the assignments. There is one test, true or false. No feedback from this teacher at all!
Make sure to be in class daily he will give in class writing assignments randomly and these count for a pretty big part of ur grade. No test . few assignments but he is a rather harsh, slow grader and gives little to no feed back. Final is kinda difficult. You must read the book to pass. Overall I enjoyed his class he was funny and I did learn alot
Extremely good lectures. He makes the class both interesting and funny. The class isn't easy, though. Although I feel like I learned a lot, I had a hard time passing the course. I didn't feel it was unfair, but it requires you to study the material and pay attention to the class, since most of the content is him explaining the topic.
He's a GREAT teacher. I had totally forgotten how much I loved History until I took his class.
Hes a pretty cool professor! Cracks a lot of jokes and is very sarcastic, but when its time to talk about more the serious topics like the Holocaust, wars, racism etc he talks about them very respectfully. As long as you take notes, do the small amount of reading, you should fine.
I took History of California even though I didn't actually need to take it. His class is fantastic, he makes history interesting. His lectures are well explained and well organized. Mr. Hall is really funny, he's a genuinely amazing teacher. The class is not hard but not easy... Pretty fair, in my opinion.
Dr. Hall is an amazing history teacher! He's funny, seriously funny. You would have to try hard not to laugh in his class. Participation is major key! Especially with the in-class writings, which aren't that hard, but they are important. This class was test heavy but he gives a lot of lee-way so you can't f*ck up unless you don't take the test.
Very hard online class. Grades very tough, never gives full credit.
Loved taking his class! Even if you aren't into history or think it's boring, he makes it so interesting & is always telling jokes. He's hilarious! He doesn't take attendance, but obviously if you want to keep up with the material you must go. Mostly all tests were take home & barely any class assignments. Some light reading required.
Prof Hall is a great teacher. He is pretty funny and doesn't require much work, but he does not grade easy. As an A student, I was pretty disappointed to get a B on pretty much every assignment i turned in. And these were easy assignments that didn't require much work. Nonetheless, it is not a hard class, and he doesn't make the work difficult.
Took this class winter of 2015. It was pretty easy, lots of papers and open note exams, no midterm or final. Class was 5 weeks.
Easy just show up and get good grades on tests
Mr. Halls lectures were informative and funny. I was able to pay attention and would definitely take this class again
No clear explanation of expectations. Does not grade papers until all assignments are turned in so you're not able to check how you are doing.
There was no homework in his class which made getting a good grade a little harder, but the few tests he gives are pretty easy. As long as you show up and study a little bit you'll get an A and he really has a knack for making history interesting. He's the funniest teacher I've ever had. It's almost like going to a stand up show every day
Dr. Hall lays out the assignments for you clearly. I took his history 107 and 108 online. Anytime I needed to contact him he responded in a timely fashion and well thought out responses. Truly a genuine teacher who cares about the success of his students.
Professor Hall is one of my favorite college professors. He is funny and makes what could be a boring subject into a fun class. Show up, pay attention, and take notes and you will be fine. He lets you know what he expects of you and is always willing to help you if you want help. I would definitely take one of his classes again.
Lectures are hilarious! Tests are based off of the lectures, just show up and you will pass.
He's hilarious and his class is really easy. All his tests are online and attendance isnt mandatory.
If you like corny dad jokes he's the perfect teacher! Lecture tests are fairly easy as long as you copy all the notes on his slides. He says the things in red are the most important but mostly everything will be on the lecture tests. better to copy it all down. Good grades on tests easy A.
I took this class online so it was easy because I had my own schedule when to do my assignments. But also of course had to submit by deadlines that were given. Went smoothly!
Easy class. Funny guy. No homework. Show up for lectures and study for the tests, you'll pass. I took two of his classes because he makes learning history enjoyable.
History is not my favorite subject, at all! Hall made his lectures easy to follow by continuously adding humor, which kept my attention. Lectures every class and tests based on them so don't miss. Tests on required books are open book. If I had to take another History class, 100% sure it would be with him. Final essay not graded yet and I have B+
I am interested in history but personally hate writing so this wasn't my favorite history class. He is totally reasonable with how he distributes the assignments. As an amazing bonus too, he gave us three extra days at the end of the semester to turn in left over papers! This was miraculous and helped wonders, for that, LOVE THIS GUY!
I recommend him to everyone! He makes learning about history incredibly interesting and fascinating. I would always look forward to going to class because he will make you crack up. He does in class assignments as extra credit and requires only two papers. One for the final which can be completed whenever and one based on a museum field trip.
Hes a really tough grader when it comes to the essay portion, I met him during his office hours and he saw that he had given me an A on a paper and was shocked he said he hardly ever gives As even if the paper is great, dont expect an easy A. You will also use the internet for every assignment not your book, but you will need the book for tests.
I took this class on line this summer. He's great and the assignments are designed to use primary sources rather than the textbook. I loved this class and would definitely take him but think I would have benefitted more from in class lectures.
Really the only reason I'm giving Professor Hall a 3 out of 5 is because he didn't keep his word. He told the class at the end of the semester that if we do well on our last few quizzes/tests and turn in a god final paper, that he'd bump up border line grades. Well I did those things, and he really didn't bump up my 79 to a B.
Mr. Hall is an amazing teacher! As long as you put effort into the class and do your homework you will pass his class. Not to mention his lectures are hilarious and he always knows how to keep you paying attention whether its him showing "you had one job" pictures or his captioned history pictures. Not a hard grader. Gives lots of extra credit .
Mr. Hall is probably the best history teacher I have ever had. He mixes humor into his lectures and its great. He gives you time to do the tests and it should be an easy class to pass.
I took this class online for a short winter session. I followed Mr. Halls guidelines but barely passed with a C. He was not very specific with what he required and graded extremely hard. When I emailed him, I almost felt belittled by his replies. He had one due date in which he read multiple papers from each student. Overall, I enjoyed what I read.
Hes a really chill funny teacher in a boring class. The class is boring, but easy. He lectures the whole time, all I did as well as other students was take pictures of the notes and used them for the lecture test which was online. The reading tests were pretty straight forward.
His lectures are very humorous! Just show up to class take notes and you'll be good because his tests are not hard if you take notes plus he throws a lot of extra credit in during class so remember to show up! (:
10/10 Professor. My most favorite one I have had so far. Makes lectures fun and interesting. All around good time
I really enjoyed this class. Hall made history seem a lot more interesting and I felt as though the grading criteria was very clear and easy to follow. The tests aren't hard and the lectures are easy to sit through
Although I had done very well at AHC and mostly liked the faculty I came into contact with; Dr. Hall was the exception. As a History Major, he soured me against the field and made me wary of reaching out to faculty for help via email. I would never take another class from him and am now concerned my grade for SP 2019 will harm my reg status.
I do not recommend taking Mr. Hall online. He grades ridiculously hard and grades your assignments randomly and mostly at the end of the semester. This makes it difficult to see where you stand in the class. I took this class with friends & he left the same comments on all of our assignments, leaving no good feedback.
Mr. Hall is a cool professor. He does like your assignments to be very detailed and have a lot of facts, events, and dates. If you actually do the work you'll get a good grade. I like the way he teaches, plus he's super funny.
Professor Hall truly knows how to make history interesting. This is not your average GE history class. Professor Hall knows that not everyone is interested in history and makes sure to teach things that we haven't all heard in our high school history classes. shares unique and funny stories and makes jokes all the time, but tests are on details
I would definitely take him. The lectures are lowkey boring but he makes them fun and adds random facts in to make it interesting. He is comedy I swear. Also, if you reach out he will help you. I do recommend that you take notes in there or print up the take home test and get the answers. They are always in the lecture. Have a lil group for tests.
Would recommend taking this instructor 100%. He makes it clear what will be graded and what to expect to do in order to pass. Lecture is boring but he adds jokes to make them less dreadful. Easy A. Show up and do your work and you'll easily pass.
Heavy content lectures, but you hardly notice with all the humor he puts in. The few multiple-choice assignments were somewhat difficult but manageable. He's definitely a fun guy though and gives you plenty of time to get your assignments in. Overall, if you pay attention to lectures you can get at the least a B, if not an A.
Youre not forced to learn but he makes you want to learn. Very understandable and enjoys his job so he does an amazing job at teaching.
easy class. Quizzes are usually based off of lectures rather than PowerPoints
Really great teacher, its an easy class would defiently recommend! There are only 6 quizzes (25Q) which are open book! 5 essays (topics are not that hard), and 5 image assignments (write 2 short paragraphs). He does give one extra credit assignment which you can substitute it for an essay. Also he's not strict on due dates. Easy A!!!
This class is easy enough, but his grading is ridiculous. He makes us buy his book and essentially repeat back to him his own words, but if its not what he finds interesting he'll mark off points. This class isn't hard, just be ready to get frustrated over the littlest things, and when you email him, expect sarcasm back instead of inspiration.
Mr. Hall has gone down onto my list of favorite teachers/professors. I definitely recommend taking his course. He does not give out much homework nor quizzes. I really enjoyed his presentations because they consisted of images with small explanations. I am a visual learner so his presentations helped out a lot. He is very helpful and understanding.
He is one of the worst professors I had had. When it comes to his personality, he is a cool dude. I did not learn anything because he rambles on too much. His notes are vague, and difficult to study. The instructions for the assignments are always vague, then he turns around and takes off points for it not being specific enough.
He's very good at getting the material across. He does require some papers but never any exams until the final. I enjoyed the class. I learned a lot about California. From the beginning to the California Dream.
so this course was rather easy, BUT, here are some tips! youre graded by 15 assignmnets total, so EVERY ASSIGNMNET MATTERS!! if you mess up one, good luck. i messed up one at the beginning and have been recovering until the end. there are no tests, but expect to write 800-1200 words per assignment.
He lectures ALL of the time and gives us no information that is useful. He gives large assignments every once and a while and all of the questions are no where to be found on the notes/slides. All of my friends that were in the class said the same things.
He rambles on about nothing for most of the class and none of it are on the quizzes. There are no extra credit opportunities. None of what he talks about is helpful. He thinks he's funny and he isn't.
Don't take his class for online. He grades the assignment very heavily and gives feedback on what you did wrong and not what you could improve in. If you do not have the book you are going to fail. no real attendance, its only the work and nothing else. Work itself is not hard but the way he grades is. worst online class taken would not recommend
I took his class online and just signed up to take my next History class with him. He grades tough. Assignments are due every four weeks but the reading for each assignment takes less than an hour. PRO TIP: he said he will work with you if you send him your paper to proofread before you submit it. There are maybe 12 4-paragraph essays total.
good professor but his lectures don't really match the assignments he also has you do some other online textbook work on the side but it's kind of hard to comprehend because the questions are too hard to answer. I only enjoyed some the lectures
Awesome professor very chill course, would 100% take again work load is also super light.
Dr Hall took on this class after the first Professor had a personal emergency, which I think is admirable since he had to teach the class at 8 in the morning. I really enjoyed Professor Hall's class as the lectures are informative with easy to follow PPT. In addition, Professor Hall has traveled to many of the places he is lecturing about.
Wouldn't take it again, he doesn't grade clearly and grades hard.
Great instructor. Only feedback I would give is that he does not provide a clear rubric and grades kind of tough. He cares about student success so that is a positive. Overall, I would take this class again.
Do the homework and you will pass. He made funny comments at times and other times his comments were foul.
Tough grader. Tests are based off powerpoint slides but they were often confusing at times with not a clear answer. Be prepared to not know your grade in the class till the end. Leaves comments on assignments with constructive feedback. Nothing positive. Maybe an in person class would be different. On a positive, he does respond to email quickly.
Lectures can be dry, but Professor Hall makes them engaging with his humor. Assignments are challenging but manageable with good note-taking and study sessions. Unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Class was easy it was just too much reading from the book and going through lectures on canvas when taking the tests. He is such a tough grader when it came to the writing assignments lol
Took this class over winter break and it wasn't too bad. The only thing is that for the discussions, he seems to rarely give full credit even if you have written a great response. Didn't give me feedback, but he was very accessible if I had a question. Lectures are easy to read and understand. 6 reading quizzes and about 7 exams.
The class was good overall, but the professor is a tough grader and the quizzes don't go with some of the lectures
Pretty easy class overall, you just have to be present and understand what he means.
I took this class online over the winter break and I was so excited since I love history. Mr. Hall would never give extra credit even if you correct all work before their due date. This course is the only one I completed with a B grade & I graduated with non perfect GPA. I wish I read the ratings about his class before I signed up.
Professor Hall is a wonderful guy he has lots of jokes that flow well with his lectures. A lot of the homework answered are in the lectures but the rest of them are in the textbook. I would suggest coming ready with the quizzes open because he allows open notes !
If you can take this class, do itttttt! Easiest A I've ever received.
Some slides were truly interesting, and I learned a lot of fun stuff, but sometimes it was a little bit boring.
I honestly love his class because it's so easy. Sometimes his slides can be both boring and interesting. He's very funny, and I'm not sure why people don't laugh when his jokes are hilarious. There is a textbook, but there is a free version online, and that can be boring too, but just try your best to read it and answer the questions he asks.
He made his lectures easy to follow and funny to listen to. He is a funny professor and made the class fun, especially for a history class. I would highly recommend taking his courses.
Slides didn't make sense and had barely any information. Tests were based on slides and book, slides would say an answer and then it would sometimes be wrong on the test. have to be very literal when taking the tests rounding matters with the statistics. Do not recommend this class from a A student turned to B because of him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. You will never find the correct answer as it isn't listed in the textbook or lecture slides. The content is inconsistent with the quizzes and you will never get a 100%. Maybe he's better in person, but definitely do not take online.
Professor Hall was overall a really chill professor. His class consisted of reading sets and exams. Just communicate with him, and you'll be good.
